The contact owns a 2018 Subaru Outback. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the next morning a large S-shaped crack was present in the middle of the front windshield. The contact indicated that the crack was not present after parking the night before and no object had contacted the windshield to cause the failure. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact stated that the failure had previously occurred and was repaired. The failure mileage was 29,000.
THE AUTO SENSING LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF ON SOME OCCASIONS EVEN WHEN IT IS 9AM AND SUNNY. PULLING THE CAR OVER AND TURNING OFF THE CAR AND BACK ON WILL FIX THE ISSUE UNTIL NEXT TIME.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2018 OUTBACK. I WAS DRIVING IT GOING ABOUT 25 MPH ON ROAD BY MY HOUSE AND IT SHUT DOWN OUT OF NOWHERE, DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, GAS PEDAL WOULDN'T WORK, THE ONLY WAY I GOT IT TO GO WAS SHUTTING IT OFF COMPLETELY AND RESTARTING IT. THEY CAR HAS 3500 MILES, I DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 8/25 AND THEY HAVE HAD IT SINCE. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP SAYING IT WAS THE CAUSE OF IT SHUTTING DOWN ON ME. I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK ON 9/21 AND DROVE IT FOR 180 MILES, THIS TIME AT 65 MPH THE CAR SHUTDOWN AGAIN WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PASS SOMEONE ON A 2 LANE ROAD, POWER STEERING LOST AND ALL LIGHTS CAME ON DASHBOARD LIKE IT HAD SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. VERY SIMILAR TO THE FIRST TIME BUT I WAS DRIVING MUCH FASTER THIS TIME.AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE CAR JUST KIND OF STARTED UP BY ITSELF WITHOUT ME HAVING TO PUSH THE START BUTTON I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD POSSIBLY GET ME KILLED OR SOMEONE ELSE KILLED WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR. SUBARU SERVICE FACILITY HAS NO CLUE WHATS GOING ON SINCE THE CAR IS NOT THROWING CODES. I HAVE STARTED THE LEMON LAW PROCESS BUT SUBARU IS NOT BEING VERY HELPFUL THUS FAR. ALSO HAVING A PROBLEM WITH PASSENGER SEAT NOT SENSING IF SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND NOT ENABLING THE AIRBAGS. THIS PROBLEM CAME UP ON THE SCAN ON 8/25 ANALYSIS. I WAS UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE, NOTHING IN THE CAR TOLD ME PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS NOT WORKING. SUBARU REPLACED THE SEAT BUT I AM STILL CONCERNED THAT THE PROBLEM IS GOING ON SINCE I HAVE NO WAY TO TELL IF IT WORKS OR NOT.
RAN OUT OF GAS WITH 12 MILES REMAINING ON INDICATOR. CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD WE BEEN ON THE ROAD DRIVING IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED US TO STOP WHILE IN MOTION. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE AT THE SUBARU DEALER WHEN IT HAPPENED TO OUR BRAND NEW SUV. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT IS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE FUEL CLUSTER THAT CALIBRATES THE AMOUNT OF MILES ONE HAS REMAINING. WE WERE TOLD THAT SUBARU KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IS MANUFACTURING/ REPLACING THE PART IF THEY ARE NOTIFIED THAT A PARTICULAR CAR HAS THE PROBLEM BUT IT WILL BE A MONTH BEFORE THE NEW PART IS SHIPPED TO OUR DEALER FOR INSTALLATION. UNFORTUNATELY, SUBARU HAS NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM AND WE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING POSTED ON THEIR WEBSITE ABOUT THIS.
REAR VIEW MIRROR TOO TIGHTLY ATTACHED TO FRONT WINDOW. EPOXY ATTACHING WINDOW GOT HOT IN SUN AND CRACKED ENTIRE WINDOW AND FELL OFF.
VEHICLE DEVELOPED DRIP FROM TRANSMISSION APPROXIMATELY MID JUNE 2018. TOOK TO DEALER & UNABLE TO FIND SOURCE AFTER 11 DAYS IN SHOP. THEY PUT DYE IN AND I DROVE UNTIL 7-30-18 WHEN DRIP RETURNED. CAR IN SHOP 6 DAYS FOR NEW TRANSMISSION. CAR RETURNED 8-9-18. 11 DAYS LATER 8-21-18 MAJOR OIL LEAK & VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. AS OF 8-24-18 THEY ARE STILL ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE LEAK. WILL HAVE TO PULL ENGINE. MAY NOT GET CAR BACK DURING AUGUST. OUTBACK HAS LESS THAN 15000 MILES. HAVE CONTACTED SUBARU REQUESTED LEMON LAW AS THE VEHICLE HAS NEARLY 40 CUMULATIVE DAYS IN THE SHOP SINCE PURCHASED 8-16-18. OUTBACK HAS ALSO HAD 2 NEW RADIOS AND MULTIPLE SOFTWARE UPDATES FOR NUMEROUS RADIO ISSUES.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A ROCK OF PIECE OF GRAVEL HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDSHIELD APPROXIMATELY 1/8" FROM THE TOP EDGE OF THE GLASS IMMEDIATELY RESULTING IN A CRACK WHICH WITHIN HOURS SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD.
SOFT KEYS FOR RADIO PROGRAMMING GO TO INITIALIZING AND STAY THERE RATHER THAN SHOW THE SIRIUSXM CHANNEL THAT WAS SET IN MEMORY. HEAD UNIT IS EXTREMELY BRIGHT AT NIGHT IT DOES DIM BUT THERE ARE WHITE SECTIONS THAT SHOULD BE INVERTED AT NIGHT THIS MAKES IT DISTRACTING AT NIGHT. RADIO BOOTS UP TO A WHITE SCREEN NOW AND NOTHING WORKS. RADIO WAS REPLACED ON 5/31/18 AND AT THAT TIME IT HAD ADDITIONAL ISSUES BUT ALL APPEAR TO BE RETURNING. ALL OF THE ISSUES APPEAR AT START UP.
WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED WHILE STATIONARY
DRIVING THE CAR ON I95 AT 60 M/H WITH THE GAS INDICATOR DISPLAYING 30 MILES RANGE, AND A 1/8 TANK LEFT, THE CAR GET TO A LOWER GEAR AND THE STALL. THE ENGINE GET A COMPLETE STOP, BUT I MANAGED TO GET TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WITH NO HARM
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH WHEN MY BRIDGESTONE TIRE, MODEL DUELER H/P SPORT AS, BLEW-OUT ON THE PASSENGER REAR SIDE. THE TIRE HAD ONLY 800 MILES ON IT.
THE RADIO HEAD UNIT WILL RANDOMLY NOT CONNECT TO APPLE CAR PLAY. IT WILL ALSO GET STUCK ON A FM RADIO STATION AND NOT RESPOND TO ANYTHING UNTIL THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTROL THE VOLUME OR ANYTHING. I HAVE BEEN FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES.
UNCONTROLLED STEERING AS DESCRIBED BY OTHER COMPLAINTS WHILE IN MOTION. DANGEROUS AT HIGH SPEEDS. HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW JULY 18, 2018.
WINDSHIELD CRACKS EXCEPTIONALLY EASILY AND SEEMINGLY WITHOUT ANY CAUSE.
THE ACCELERATION RESPONSE IS DECOUPLED FROM THE THROTTLE. I HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP SIGN. I TRIED TO MOVE AHEAD WITH A SLIGHT ACCELERATION TO GET A VIEW OF CROSS TRAFFIC, UNFORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TOO HIGH AND T BONED INTO ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS GOING ACROSS. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE PROBLEM IS MORE EVIDENT WHILE ACCELERATING FROM SLOWER SPEEDS OR FROM A STOP.
OPEN RECALL FOR FUEL GAUGE NOT BEING ACCURATE. I ALREAY RAN OUT OF GAS ONCE AND WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER THEY SAID THERE WAS NO REMEDY TO MAKE SURE I ALWAYS HAVE A 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS TO AVOID THIS IN THE FUTURE! THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON JULY 13, AND I HAVE BEE WAITING SINCE FOR SOLUTION
DRIVING INTERSTATE, 65MPH, SMALL OBJECT THROWN FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD ON THE LEFT EDGE. SHORT CRACKS APPEARED IMMEDIATELY. TWO SPREAD ALL THE WAY TO THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AREA WITHIN DAYS. VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO MONTHS OLD.
2018 SUBARU OUTBACK PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2017 - OEM WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWICE (IN 2 YEARS).
ON START UP OF VEHICLE THE RADIO AUTOMATICALLY COMES ON AT A LOUD VOLUME AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED OR TURNED OFF FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO BACKUP OR MOVE OUT OF A PARKING SITUATION. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY SUBARU MECHANICS THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO KEEP THE RADIO FROM AUTOMATICALLY COMING ON WHEN I START THE CAR. OTHER OWNERS HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS FEATURE. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR 7/4/18
MY GAS LIGHT WENT ON AND THE MONITOR SAID I HAD 60 MILES LEFT. WITHIN A COUPLE BLOCKS IT WENT TO 50 THEN 40 THEN 20 AND WAS OUT OF GAS. IT STILL SAID I HAD 20 MILES LEFT WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE LEFT LANE OF A ROAD AND COMPLETELY WOULDN'T START. I WAS JUST GOING STRAIGHT ON A CITY ROAD. PEOPLE WERE HONKING AT ME AND I WAS SCARED SOMEONE WOULD HIT ME. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE. THEN SOME PEOPLE HELPED ME GET IT ACROSS THE 2 LANES AND ONTO THE SIDE. I LOCKED IT AND WENT FOR GAS. WHEN I CAME BACK. THE CAR WOULD NOT UNLOCK WITH THE KEYLESS ENTERY. I HAD TO TAKE OUT THE HIDDEN KEY AND OPEN IT. AND THEN WHEN I PUT GAS IN IT. IT STARTED NO PROBLEM. I WENT TO FILL UP AND IT FILLED UP AT 17 GALLONS. SO IT STILL HAD MORE THEN 2 GALLONS WHEN IT RAN OUT. I BROUGHT IT TO SUBARU, THEY LOOKED IT OVER FOR A FEW DAYS. CALLED THERE SPECIALISTS BUT SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AND I SHOULD JUST TRY TO KEEP THE GAS TANK AT FULL AND IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I FEEL FOR A 2018 NEW CAR THIS IS SCARY.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON KNOWN - I MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE UPON GETTING INTO MY VEHICLE TO FOLLLOWING MORNING I NOTICED A CRACK THAT GROW SIGNIFICANTLY WITHIN A DAY HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING FUEL CAPACITY DOES NOT REGISTER CORRECTLY - I DID HAVE THE RECALL DONE BUT IT STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY
OUR OUTBACK STARTED TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AT AROUND 3000 MILES. CURRENTLY (AT 9000 MILES) THE CAR STILL DOES THAT. IT FEELS AS IF THERE IS STRONG SIDE WIND PUSHING THE CAR. THE CAR ALSO STARTED MAKING KNOCKING SOUNDS WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL IN BOTH DIRECTIONS WHILE AT STOP OR MOVING SLOWLY. WE ARE CURRENTLY SCHEDULED FOR AN INSPECTION AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE SECOND MAJOR ISSUE IS THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR. THE TIRE PRESSURE THAT IT DISPLAYS DOES NOT MATCH THE ACTUAL ONE MEASURED WITH SEVERAL EXTERNAL INSTRUMENTS (CONSTANTLY 2 PSI LOWER ON ALL FOUR WHEELS). ADDITIONALLY, THE MONITOR SOMETIMES SWITCHES THE FRONT TIRE PRESSURE WITH THE REAR ONES, I.E. THE MONITOR DISPLAYS THE FRONT TIRE PRESSURE AS IF IT IS THE REAR TIRE PRESSURE. VERY CONFUSING!
THE PROPRIETARY SUBARU LINEARTRONIC CVT ON MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE SINCE DELIVERY IN JUNE 2018. IT SHUDDERS, LURCHES, BALKS AND CREATES NEAR STALL CONDITIONS ON BOTH ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. I HAVE BROUGHT IT INTO THE SUBARU DEALER WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FOUR + TIMES SINCE JUNE 2018. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE AND NOW SUBARU OF AMERICA TELLS ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AND KNOW THAT MANY OTHER SUBARU OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED TO NHTSA AS WELL.
RADIO AND MAPS WENT TO A BLACK SCREEN SEVERAL TIMES AT 5K MILES. IT WAS SENT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR UPDATE. STILL HAD ISSUES, BUT NOT AS MANY. THEN THE LIGHTING WENT OUT ON THE RADIO BUTTONS. REPLACED MAIN HEAD WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY W/A 100 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE. AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS WORK INTERMITTENTLY WHEN PUT IN GEAR, DRIVERS WINDOW CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT WORK FOR ANY WINDOWS IN THE CAR OTHER THAN THE DRIVERS WINDOW. HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES AFTER 2 MONTHS OF PURCHASE. IT IDLES HIGH AND DOES NOT SMOOTHLY GLIDE INTO GEAR. WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED BY A SMALL ROCK. IT WAS REPLACED AND TWO WEEKS LATER IT CRACKED AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTHERN STATES SUBARU OF RALEIGH (2511 WAKE FOREST RD, RALEIGH, NC 27609, 888-439-5154), BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT A SPECIALIST TO ASSIST THE DEALER. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10.
THE WINDSHIELD ON MY 2018 OUTBACK CRACKED WITHIN THE FIRST 150 MILES OF OWNERSHIP.THE SUBARU SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY SOMETHING HITTING THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IS A POSSIBILITY BUT WAS NOT THE CASE. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND I PAID THE DEDUCTIBLE AMOUNT. I DROVE THE OUTBACK BACK TO MY HOUSE AND PARKED IT FOR A WEEK WHILE I DROVE MY OTHER CAR. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE MY OUTBACK AFTER A WEEK OF IT JUST SITTING STILL I NOTICED THAT THE WINDSHIELD HAD A BIG CRACK IN IT. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. IN THE YEAR AND A SIX MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE CAR I AM ON THE 4TH WINDSHIELD INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ONE.
VEHICLE IN MOTION APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH IN REGULAR STREET DRIVING. THE CAR HAS FELT AS IF THE ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO STALL OR AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS SEIZING UP. THIS OCCURRED A FEW TIMES. A BIT UNNERVING BECAUSE IT HAPPENED WITH MOVING TRAFFIC BEHIND, IN FRONT AND TO THE SIDES.
THE PASSENGER SIDE HOOD DOES NOT SHUT ALL THE WAY. A SERVICE BULLETIN CAME OUT BUT THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE FIX BECAUSE IT INVOLVES USING A 2X4 TO BEND THE HOOD.
I HAVE 6000 MILES ON MY 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK AND RODENTS ATE THE ELECTRICAL WIRES IN MY ENGINE WHICH CAUSED ME NOT TO BE ABLE TO OPERATE THE CAR AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I FOUND OUT MY WIRES ARE SOY BASED WHICH ATTRACTED THE RODENTS.I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY DASHBOARD INDICATORS LIT UP INDICATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE SUBARU SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAD THE WIRING REPAIRED. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF SUBARU TO REPLACE ALL MY WIRING WITH NON-SOY BASED WIRING AT NO COST TO ME IMMEDIATELY AND GIVE ME A LOANER CAR WITHOUT SOY BASED WIRING UNTIL MY CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL CARS ON THE ROAD ARE HAZARD FREE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE PUSHING THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD, IT ROLLED OVER THE DRIVER'S LEGS. THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND DISPLAYED AN INCORRECT FUEL LEVEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,900.
WINDSHIELD EASILY CRACKS - WE HAVE HAD OUR 2018 OUTBACK FOR LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AND LESS THAN 5000 MILES AND HAVE HAD 3 WINDSHIELDS DEVELOP SEVERE CRACKING. THE FIRST TWO WERE REPLACED WITH FACTORY WINDSHIELDS BY PROFESSIONAL INSTALLERS. THE SLIGHTEST IMPACT, THE LAST TWO BEING BARELY PERCEIVABLE, RESULTS IN AN ELONGATED CRACK FORMING. WITH FOUR VEHICLES IN OUR HOUSEHOLD, WE HAVE ONLY HAD 2 WINDSHIELDS REPLACED IN 14 YEARS SINCE MOVING TO THIS AREA SO HAVE RULED OUT BAD LUCK OR DRIVING HABIT. SUBARU (BOTH DEALER AND CORPORATE) HAVE BEEN UNRESPONSIVE. THE CURRENT CRACKING AND STAR FORMED AFTER A BARELY AUDIBLE IMPACT. THE STAR GREW AND IS NOW CRUMBLING IN THE CENTER WITH 3 FRACTURE LINES EXTENDING FROM IT. FIRST INCIDENT - ON I-17 WHILE PASSING A SEMI APPROX SPEED 75 MPH SECOND INCIDENT - ON AZ 69 IN NORMAL TRAFFIC APPOX SPEED 45 MPH THIRD INCIDENT - ON I-17 WHILE FOLLOWING A VEHICLE USING ISIGHT DYNAMIC CRUISE CONTROL APPROX SPEED 75 MPH FIRST TWO CLAIMS COVERED BY INSURANCE WHICH WE ATTRIBUTED TO BAD LUCK. THIRD INCIDENT IN SO FEW MONTHS/MILES SEEMS TO POINT TO QUALITY/DESIGN ISSUE SINCE OTHER VEHICLES (PAST AND PRESENT) HAVE NEVER DEVELOPED THIS SEVERE CRACKING (PICTURE PROVIDED) WHICH PROMPTED THIS COMPLAINT.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING. NO OTHER CARS WERE AROUND. TOOK INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS A ROCK CHIP THAT HAD CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD BUT THE CRACK STARTED AT THE TOP OF THE WINDOW AND WENT DOWN. NO IMPACT POINT IS VISIBLE. WE HAVE ALSO HAS ANOTHER SUBARU WHICH DID THE SAME THING BUT WHILE SITTING IN GARAGE.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED. SUNROOF EXPLODED. THE GLASS WAS NOT DAMAGED PREVIOUSLY. IT COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS IF WE HAD BEEN DRIVING. I BELIEVE THAT THE GLASS WAS DEFECTIVE OR THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE THICKNESS OF THE GLASS/CAR STRUCTURAL STRESS.
WHEN I TURN ON THE HAZARD EMERGENCY FLASHING LIGHTS ON WHILE PARKED AND ENGINE OFF AND I LOCK THE CAR , BOTH KEYLESS REMOTES STOP WORKING WHEN I TRY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS TO ENTER. DRIVING OUR NEW 2018 OUTBACK WE EXPERIENCE PERIODIC STEERING IRREGULARITIES THAT ARE FLAT SCARY. ESPECIALLY AT 65MPS AND ABOVE THE CAR SEEMS TO SELF CORRECT .BY EXAMPLE A LANE CHANGE THE CAR STARTS TO 'FLOAT" AND OVER COMPENSATES ON DIRECTIONAL CHANGE. TROUBLING ALSO IS THE EXPERIENCE OF STABILITY AT TIMES AS IF DRIVING IN HIGH WINDS-WHEN THERE IS NO WIND. WHEN WE TURN "OFF" DRIVING ASSISTANCE LANE SYSTEM-STILL SAME PROBLEMS. WHEELS SEEM TO HAVE A 'MIND OF THEIR OWN" AND WERE NOT ALWAYS IN CONTROL. TOOK THE CAR INTO DEALERSHIP- THERE SERVICE PERSON SAID THEY HAD ALSO HAD THE EXPERIENCE(S)..BUT WE JUST NEED TO GET USE TO. NOT ACCEPTABLE!
TIRE TREAD BEGAN SEPARATING FROM SIDEWALL WITHIN 1100 MILES. THE TIRE IS A BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/P 225/60 R18. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM A A SUBARU DEALER ON 03/24/2018 WITH THIS TIRE INSTALLED AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN RETURNING TO MY CAR WHILE IT WAS PARKED.
REAR TAIL GATE OPENS WITHOUT ACTIVATION AT 35 MPH WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. I HAVE A VIDEO BUT IT IS TOO BIG TO SEND. MY WIFE AND I WERE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AFTER JUST PURCHASING FLOWERS AND PLANTS AT A LOCAL NURSERY WHEN THE TAILGATE JUST STARTED TO OPEN ALL BY ITSELF SPILLING SOME OF THE PLANTS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TAILGATE LOCKED IN THE OPEN POSITION AT ABOUT TWO FEET IN THE OPEN POSITION.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE FUEL INDICATOR INDICATED 70 MILES TO GO LAST TIME I SAW IT. I ONLY HAD TO DRIVE 10 MILES HOME AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED, THANKFULLY ON A LOCAL ROAD. SOME WARNING LIGHTS STARTED APPEARING AND I COULDNT MAKE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I TRIED TO RESTART A FEW TIMES UNTIL I DECIDED IT HAD TO BE FUEL. WE PUSHED CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD AND WENT TO GAS STATION TO GET GAS. CAME BACK WITH GAS, REFILLED AND CAR STARTED AND WENT HOME. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY FAULT, ALTHOUGHT I COULDNT EXPLAIN WHY THE LAST TIME A SAW THE FUEL GAUGE SAID 70 MILES AND I WAS JUST GOING HOME, NOT EVEN 10 MILES TO GET THERE.
THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS IN MY FIELD OF VIEW! I AM ONLY 5'4" AND I LIKE TO RAISE MY SEAT ALL THE WAY UP TO GIVE ME GOOD VISIBILITY. IF I DO THAT , THE REAR VIEW MIRROR GETS IN MY WAY, I HAVE TO DUCK DOWN TO LOOK UNDER THE MIRROR!! ONE OTHER THING, IF I DO RAISE THE SEAT ALL THE WAY UP, I HAVE NO "ARMREST" THE ARMREST CAN NOT BE RAISED, SO THAT TOO MAKES ME LOWER MY SEAT!! THE MIRROR IS TOO LOW AND SO ARE THE ARMRESTS!!!!! SUBARU BETTER TAKE NOTICE ON THIS STEERING ISSUE! IT IS A DANGER!!! WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE WALKING ON THE ROAD AND YOU NEED TO SWING A LITTLE WIDER AROUND THEM, THE LANE KEEP PUSHES YOU TOWARDS THE PEDESTRIAN!!! IN ADDITION TO THIS, WHEN DRIVING AT 55 AND ABOVE, IT CONSTANTLY FEELS AS IF THE WIND IS BLOWING YOU AROUND! THERE IS NO WIND! THIS IS A DANGER AND THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES NOW, THAT I HAVE ALMOST WENT OFF THE ROAD!!! SHOULD I TURN OFF MY LANE KEEP ASSIST TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING!?!? I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 WEEKS, AND SO FAR I FEEL LIKE I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE GETTING THIS CAR!!!!! I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THIS IS MY 4TH SUBARU. I AM LOYAL TO THE BRAND. I BELIEVE A DEFECT IN THE MATERIAL OR ASSEMBLY CAUSED MY FRONT WINDSHIELD TO CRACK. THIS CRACK WAS INITIALLY NOTED AS I PREPARED TO DRIVE MY CAR OUT OF MY GARAGE AND ON TO WORK, WITH A NEARLY IMPERCEPTIBLE CRACK IN THE VERY LOWER LEFT CORNER. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHIN MONTHS OF PURCHASE. THE CRACK STARTED IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD, UP AGAINST THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE A PILLAR. THERE WAS NO PITTING ANYWHERE NEAR THE CRACK. IT APPEARED TO BE CAUSED BY THE METAL FRAME FOR THE WINDSHIELD. THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALER REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT IT. I PAID THE TOTAL COST FOR REPAIR, $867.06, OUT-OF-POCKET. *TR
ON INFREQUENT YET MULTIPLE OCCASIONS SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR IN SPRING 2018, AFTER HANGING UP FROM A BLUETOOTH PHONE CALL, THE RADIO WOULD BLAST AT FULL DECIBELS AND BE UNRESPONSIVE TO ATTEMPTED ADJUSTMENTS WITH THE VOLUME CONTROL. ON ALL OCCASIONS EXCEPT FOR TODAY'S EVENT, I WAS DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS, BECOMING STARTLED, THEN HAVING TO IMMEDIATELY TRY TO RECTIFY THE EAR-BLASTING SOUND. TODAY, I WAS IN A PARKING LOT, HAVING TURNED OFF THE ENGINE--THE RADIO CONTINUES TO PLAY AND THE BLUETOOTH REMAINS LIVE IN AN OUTBACK FOR 5 MORE MINUTES, UNTIL THE DOOR IS OPENED--I MADE A CALL, HUNG UP, AND THE RADIO VOLUME WAS FINE; I IMMEDIATELY MADE ANOTHER CALL, HUNG UP, AND THE RADIO BLASTED AT FULL DECIBELS AGAIN. THIS TIME, I WAS UNABLE TO ELICIT A RESPONSE BY TURNING THE VOLUME KNOB, WITH THE RADIO STOPPING SHORTLY THEREAFTER BECAUSE IT HAD REACHED THE 5-MINUTE LIMIT. THIS EVENT OCCURRED WHETHER I HUNG UP FIRST OR THE OTHER PERSON HUNG UP FIRST. I HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO RAFFERTY SUBARU ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WITH A VARIETY OF FIXES ATTEMPTED, MOST RECENTLY BY SWAPPING OUT MY AMP WITH ONE FROM A LOANER VEHICLE. I HAVE FOUND IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS ON THE SUBARUOUTBACK.ORG FORUM, WITH OTHERS ACHIEVING NO RESOLUTION AS WELL, AND WITH OTHER BEING CONCERNED ABOUT THIS UNCONTROLLABLE CONDITION OCCURRING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED ON HIGHWAYS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM IN THE 2019 AND 2020 MODELS AS WELL.

WE PURCHASED A NEW 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK IN JULY 2018. MY WIFE WAS THE PRIMARY DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE. BY APRIL 2019, MY WIFE WAS SUFFERING FROM SEVERE KNEE AND HIP PAIN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER BODY. DURING HER VISITS TO HER ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALIST (KNEE), SHE WAS ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES IF SHE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. IN JULY 2018, I GOT TO DRIVE HER CAR ON AN 8 HOUR TRIP. BY 5TH HOUR, MY RIGHT KNEE WAS IN MAJOR PAIN, LIKE BEING ON FIRE FROM WITHIN. IN CLOSE INSPECTION OF DRIVING POSITION, I FOUND THE FOLLOWING: 1. TRANSMISSION TUNNEL INTRUDES IN DRIVING POSITION TO OPERATE GAS PEDDLE 2. GAS PEDAL IS TUCKED AWAY TOO FAR TO THE RIGHT (LINE OF SIGHT COVERED BY TRANSMISSION TUNNEL) 3. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDAL ARE LONGER THAN ANY OTHER CAR THAT WE HAVE OWNED. OPERATING THE TWO PEDALS REQUIRE WIDE TURN OF RIGHT ANKLE). THE COMBINATION OF THE ABOVE 3 DESIGN ISSUES FORCES DRIVER TO OPEN THE RIGHT LEG AT THE HIP. NEXT TO TURN TO RIGHT FOOT BELOW THE KNEE FURTHER TO THE RIGHT. LASTLY REQUIRE WIDER TURN OF RIGHT ANKLE TO OPERATE BRAKE PEDAL IF NOT LIFTING RIGHT FOOT TO OPERATE THE BRAKE PEDAL. LATER THAT DAY, WE DID AN INTERNET SEARCH ON "SUBARU" + "LEG PAIN". WE FOUND OUT REPORTED ISSUES SINCE 2013. ALSO, OUR SISTER IN-LAW WHO HAS A SUBARU FORESTER SHARED THAT AT TIME SHE FEELS DISCOMFORT IN HER RIGHT LEG WHEN TRAVELING LONGER THAN 2 HOURS. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HEARD FROM OTHER SUBARU OWNERS HAVING PAIN IN RIGHT SIDE OF THEIR BODY. INFORMATION SURFACES ONLY WHEN WE SHARE OUR EXPERIENCE. SINCE JULY 4TH 2018, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE OUTBACK. WHILE MY DAILY COMMUTE IS NOT AS LONG AS WIFE'S, I AM EXPERIENCING DISCOMFORT IN MY RIGHT KNEE AND ANKLE. I HAVE REACH OUT TO LOCAL DEALER AND SUBARU AMERICA TOP EXECUTIVES. SO FAR THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM OR WILLING TO WORK WITH ME.
TRADED IN A 2016 FOR A 2018 .THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. WHILE DRIVING , PARTICULARLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THE STEERING SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. THE CAR WILL SWAY OR VEER TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. IT FEELS TO ME AS IF A GUST OF WIND HAS PUSHED THE CAR AND I HAVE TO ADJUST THE STEERING. MY HUSBAND DESCRIBES IT AS IF THE CAR IS HYDROPLANING. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT. IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE CAR HAS AT THIS TIME APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES.
I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED A 3.6L AND THIS IS MY FIRST 3.6L 6 CYLINDER 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK! AM DISAPPOINTED WITH FEW PROBLEMS: THE FRONT SEATING IS NOT COMFORTABLE AND NOT SUPPORTIVE AT ALL, ESPECIAL IN HARD TURNS THE SEATS WILL NOT HOLD YOU IN PLACE, THE SEAT BED IS TO SHORT AND DOES NOT SUPPORT LONG LEGS IF YOU ARE OVER 5 FEET TALL. FOR SOME REASON THIS IS MY 3RD SUBARU 2ND OUTBACK THAT HAS WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROBLEM RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!! I ALWAYS SEEM TO BE PULLING THE STEERING-WHEEL/VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT AND MY STEERING IS ALWAYS ON A 15-20 DEGREE OFF AND IF I DON'T STEER AND PULL TO THE RIGHT THE VEHICLE DRIFTS WAY TO THE LEFT LANE AND THIS DANGERS AND A MAJOR PROBLEM. ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS WITH SPEED OVER 60 THE VEHICLE VIBRATES I TOOK IT IN FOR 4 TIRE WHEEL BALANCING AND I HOPE THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM, MIND YOU THIS IS A NEW CAR. 2018 OUTBACK HAS A PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS AND SPEEDS OVER 60 THE VEHICLE DRIFTS OR SWAYS DANGEROUSLY LEFT AND RIGHT OUT OF CONTROL AS IF SOMETHING IS PUSHING OR PUSHING THE VEHICLE LEFT AND RIGHT, I DON'T KNOW IF THE HIGHWAY VIBRATION WITH SPEEDS EXCEEDING 60 IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SWAY OR ITS A WHEEL BALANCING PROBLEM. PREVIOUSLY OWNED SUBARU'S 2011 OUTBACK, 2011 LEGACY, 2014 OUTBACK, 2018 OUTBACK WITH ONLY 290 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WITH A FULL GAS TANK I DROVE IT TILL IT DISPLAYED AND THE GAS LIGHT IS ON THAT I ONLY HAVE 40 MILES TO GO BEFORE RUNNING OUT OF GAS SO I DROVE IT TO BE PRECISE ANOTHER 12 MILES THEN STATED THAT I ONLY HAVE 30 MILES TO EMPTY AND PARKED IT WHILE I WENT TO WORK , 6 HOURS LATER TO GO HOME AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START, UNFORTUNATELY I RAN OUT OF GAS! I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WAS A GLITCH OR ITS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM BUT I WILL KEEP MY EYES ON IT.

ANY MOVEMENT AWAY FROM A STRAIGHT LINE WILL CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. SOMETIMES IN STRAIGHT LINE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL JUST MOMENTARILY ATTEMPTS TO TURN ON ITS OWN. LAST NIGHT IN RAIN, I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE OVER 65 MPH BECAUSE THE STEERING KEPT LEAVING, AGAIN LIKE IT WAS HYDRO PLANING, AND NO IT WASN'T HYDROPLANING AS EVERY OTHER CAR WAS PASSING ME AT 75+ MPH. THIS IS A CONSISTENT AND CONSTANT PROBLEM. IT IS VERY SCARY AND I AM QUITE ALARMED AT THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS SOMETHING MAJOR WRONG HERE.
