WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON.
2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BATTERY FAILURE. *LD *JS
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY I'M JANUARY WITH FEW OTHER VEHICLES AROUND A CRACK STARTED TO GROW FROM THE LOWER RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT CRAWLED TO NEARLY 24 INCHES IN LENGTH. WE WERE NEVER HIT BY A ROCK OR ANY OTHER DEBRIS. THIS IS THE SECOND FACTORY INSTALLED WINDSHIELD ON OUR SUBARU. THE FIRST WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN JULY 2019. THE WINDSHIELD WAS STRUCK BY A SMALL ROCK AND CRACKED. WE HAD THAT WINDSHIELD REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON THE BOTTOM LEFT OR DRIVERS SIDE. THERE WAS NO IMPACT ON THE WINDSHIELD OF ANY KIND. NO TRAFFIC AND SMOOTH HIGHWAY. TEMP WAS AROUND 66 DEGREES. STARTED OUT AS A 5 INCH CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM UP AND HAD A VERY SMALL DIVOT. THEN SPREAD TO A 10 INCH CRACK VERY QUICKLY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID CRACK WAS CAUSED BY OUTSIDE FORCE DUE TO THE TINY DIVOT. THEY SAY THE ONLY WAY FOR A DIVOT IS IMPACT WITH A OUTSIDE FORCE. THAT IS NOT A TRUE STATEMENT. A SMALL DIVOT CAN OCCUR FROM A STRESS CRACK OF FROM SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKING. THE EYESIGHT TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER WINDSHIELD, YOU MUST BUY THE FACTORY WINDSHIELD. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR WITH A SUBPAR WINDSHIELD. PLEASE HELP IN THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BEING IGNORED BY SUBARU. I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE IN THE NEW WINDSHIELD. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HEARD A LOUD CRACK. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING AT THE TIME. A FEW DAYS LATER MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND HEARD A LOUD CRACK AND LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELD TO SEE A CRACK FORMING ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. IT REACHED ALMOST TO THE DRIVER SIDE VIEW WAY. THERE WAS NOT A POINT OF IMPACT IT STARTED ON THE VERY EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD OUT OF SIGHT FROM INSIDE THE CAR. I THOUGHT MAYBE A ROCK CAME OUT OF NO WHERE AND THAT IS WHAT MY WIFE TOLD THE INSURANCE COMPANY WHEN WE GOT IT FIXED BY SAFELITE, THEN I SAW THE NOTICE ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS AND TOLD ME TO FILE THE CLAIM THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED TO US.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM LEFT INSIDE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE. VEHICLE WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD. I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. IT IMMEDIATELY MADE AN S SHAPED CRACK
2019 SUBARU OUTBACK FRONT WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY DEVELOPED A CRACK FOR NO REASON. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, HOLDING A SMOOTH STEADY SPEED, AND WAS ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE LOCATION WHERE THE CRACK STARTED. I HEARD AN AUDIBLE SHARP "CRACK" SOUND AND I SAW A 6" VERTICAL CRACK SUDDENLY APPEAR IN THE WINDSHIELD STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE CRACK TO DEVELOP -- NO ROCKS OR PEBBLES HIT THE WINDSHIELD, NO OTHER CARS WERE NEARBY, AND NO EXTERNAL OBJECT CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE CAR. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR A COUPLE OF WEEKS EARLIER. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, THE CRACK SPREAD SIDEWAYS LEFT AND RIGHT IN THE FORM OF A T. EXCEPT FOR THE INITIAL CRACK, WHICH HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, THE EXPANSION OF THE CRACK HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS SURE I WAS NOT AT FAULT FOR THE CRACKING, SO I WENT ONLINE TO SEARCH AND I FOUND PLENTY OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER SUBARU OWNERS (SEE HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T82803_DS994225). THIS SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE.
THERE WAS ALWAYS ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES, NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED WHEN NEEDED. SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE AGENTS AND THEY MENTIONED EVERYTHING IS GOOD. BUT I HAD EXPERIENCED THE SPEED ISSUE IN SEVERAL OCCASIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEAN TEAM VOLKSWAGEN OF BALLWIN (15121 MANCHESTER RD, BALLWIN, MO 63011) WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED AND DETERMINED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, 7 MONTH LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WITHOUT IMPACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.*DT WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN REPLACED.*JB
HAVE 10,000 MILES ON MY 2019 SUBARU AND HAVE BEEN STRANDED TWICE BECAUSE OF BATTERIE. SUBARU HAVE CHANGED TWO BATTERIES SO FAR
OUTBACK WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE OF 1919. IN MID JANUARY OF 2020 I HAD TO HAVE IT JUMP STARTED TWICE. TOOK IT TO DEALER. THE VEHILCE MILAGE WAS UNDER 2000. THEY DID A "PARASITE" CHECK TO LOOK FOR ELECTRICLE LEAKS. FOUND NONE SUGGESTED I ATTACH A BATTERY TENDER IN WINTER. SO I DID. AS LONG AS I KEEP THE TENDER ATTACHED IN THE WINTER, THE VEHICLE STARTS- SO FAR.
Battery failure! Something is draining the battery constantly causing it to fail and the vehicle will not start without a jump. We have owned the vehicle since it was new and have been dealing with the battery failing ever since. We have gone through several new batteries and the batteries continue to get depleted and fail...
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN ONE MONTH, MY BATTERY HAS FULLY DRAINED AND THE CAR WILL NOT START. I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 5 MONTHS AND IT ONLY HAS 5,000 MILES ON IT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED ACROSS DRIVERS SIDE WITH TOO LONG CRACKS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. REPLACED AND PAID FOR BY MYSELF AND MY INSURANCE 1/13/20
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE PARKED IN OUR GARAGE, FOR NO APPARENT REASON. CRACK IS WITHIN VISUAL FIELD OF CARS SAFETY-RELATED OBSTACLE DETECTION SYSTEM CAMERAS.
BACK IN FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY, I WAS COMMUTING TO WORK VIA INTERSTATE. THERE WAS A BUMP SINCE THE ROADS ARE UNEVEN AND GOING OVER THE BRIDGE, AS SOON I WENT OVER I HEARD A CRACK. I SAW THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE TOP OF HOOD, UP TO FRONT OF THE REARVIEW MIRROR. SINCE THEN, IT SLOWLY GOT WORSE.
WE HAVE HAD OUR 4TH WINDSHIELD BREAK ON OUR 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WE BELIEVE THESE TO BE SPONTANEOUS CRACKS, NOT THE RESULT OF A CHIP OR OTHER IMPACT. THE MOST RECENT HAPPENED WHILE CAR WAS PARKED (NOT A HOT DAY) OUT IN THE OPEN. *TR
Ever since this car was new it has always dragged while starting. Like the battery was weak but, its my first subaru so figured it was the style of starter. After a couple years the battery got weaker and weaker until it died. Replaced battery and it started doing the same thing. Now, the car is 4 years old and this is our 3rd battery. The alternator charges 14.6 volts which is perfect. But, sitting overnight the battery is constantly being drained. If i put a charge on it and remove it from car it holds the charge. So, it isn't the batteries plus, we had the battery and alternator tested and those aren't the problem. The vehicle constantly drains the battery while sitting overnight. After a few days it won't start at all. Subaru says there isn't a problem. I have a sickly parent living here and he has to go to the hospital regularly and we need that vehicle to work properly. Is there anything we can do about this.
WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL HIGHWAY CONDITIONS IN FAIR WEATHER, A LARGE CRACK APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, STARTING AT THE BOTTOM NEAR THE WIPER, AND EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 10-12 INCHES CURVING UP AND TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO APPARENT IMPACT OR NOISE PRIOR TO THE CRACK APPEARING. THE CRACK COMPROMISES SUBARU'S EYE-SIGHT SAFETY FEATURE AS WELL AS THE INTEGRITY OF THE WINDSHIELD IN GENERAL, CREATING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT(S). I HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH AAA PENDING SERVICE WITH SUBARU WHICH IS SCHEDULED ON 01/13/20 (ATTACHED CONFIRMATION FROM AAA)
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE. THE NEXT DAY I CAME OUT AND THERE WAS A CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. IT WAS COMPLETELY FINE THE NIGHT BEFORE.
I purchased this car in 2019 and I have brought into into the dealership because it keeps dying and I have to jump it. It will die several times a day and this has been a consistent problem since I purchased the car. I have made the dealership aware and they have inspected the car 4 times and I am always told that there is no issue that they can find with the car.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON THE BOTTOM LEFT OR DRIVERS SIDE. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO IMPACT ON THE WINDSHIELD OF ANY KIND. NO TRAFFIC AND SMOOTH HIGHWAY. TEMP WAS AROUND 30 DEGREES. STARTED OUT AS A 5 INCH CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM UP AND HAD A VERY SMALL DIVOT. THEN SPREAD TO A 15 INCH CRACK VERY QUICKLY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH IN 24 HOURS AND THEY FILED A CLAIM WITH SUBARU. WITHIN 4 HOURS THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID CLAIM WAS DENIED. THEY SAID CRACK WAS CAUSED BY OUTSIDE FORCE DUE TO THE TINY DIVOT. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME JUST UNDER $700. NOT BEING HAPPY WITH THAT I CALLED SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY VERY QUICKLY THREW $500 AT ME TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR. WHICH DOES NOT COVER THE ENTIRE COST OF THE REPAIR. THESE WINDSHIELDS SEEM TO HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKING AND SUBARU IS BRUSHING IT OFF. THE EYESIGHT TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER WINDSHIELD, YOU MUST BUY THE FACTORY WINDSHIELD. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR WITH A SUBPAR WINDSHIELD. I'M NOT CONFIDENT THAT THE NEW WINDSHIELD THEY ARE INSTALLING WILL BE SAFE. PLEASE HELP IN THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BEING IGNORED BY SUBARU. THE DEALERSHIP HAS THE PICTURES OF THE WINDSHIELD FROM WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. I'M TRYING TO GET THEM, I WILL FORWARD THEM IF I GET THEM.
20" CRACK ACROSS DRIVER SIDE SPONTANEOUSLY APPEARED IN WINDSHIELD WITH NO DAMAGE. WARRANTY DENIED BY SUBARU
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED OVERNIGHT WHILE IT WAS PARKED. STARTED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE, A LONG LINE OF CRACK WITH AN UNKNOWN CAUSE. IT ALSO HAS SEVERAL ROCK CHIP CRACKS ON OTHER AREAS. THESE DAMAGES HAPPENED ALL WITHIN ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.

THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
WINDSHIELD HAS SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE PURCHASE IN SEPTEMBER 2018. WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES TO DATE. EACH TIME DAMAGE APPEARS TO START NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE GLASS, THEN SPIDERS OUT. IT IS NOT CLEAR THAT ROAD DEBRIS OR ANY OTHER EXTERNAL FORCE CAUSED THE CRACKING. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY SUBARU WITH A RE-DESIGNED PART. SENDING THE SAME WINDSHIELD OVER AND OVER DOES NOT FIX THE INHERENT PROBLEM. YOUR FORM DOES NOT ALLOW FOR MULTIPLE INCIDENCES OF THE SAME PROBLEM OVER TIME. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS. ARE YOU WORKING WITH SUBARU TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED FIVE TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2019. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WHEN PARKED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE OR ACCESS THE BATTERY TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUSTIN SUBARU (8100 BURNET ROAD, AUSTIN, TX 78757, (512) 220-0930) AND THE BATTERY AND BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN HOME AND PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF MY RESIDENCE, THE WINDSHIELD WAS FINE. WHEN I CAME BACK AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT, THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED.
WHILE DRIVING HOME, ON A HIGHWAY, HAD A SMALL ROCK HIT MY WINDSHIELD AND WITH IN MINUTES MY WHOLE LEFT SIDE WAS CRACKED, NOW IT'S ALMOST THE END OF THE RIGHT SIDE.
WENT OUT TO GARAGE TO GET INTO MY 2019 OUTBACK AND NOTICED CRACK ON DRIVER SIDE OF CAR. STARTS DOWN LOW ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT AND TRACKS UP AND OVER. CRACK WAS NOT THERE WHEN I PARKED THE CAR THE NIGHT BEFORE.
ON THE EVENING OF DECEMBER 23, 2019 I HIT A DEER GOING APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES/HOUR. THE DEER DARTED OUT IN FRONT OF. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. HOWEVER, THE AUTO-BRAKING FUNCTION ON THE CAR INITIATED. THE COLLISION DID DAMAGE TO THE FRONT GRILL AREA AND RIGHT FRONT QUARTER PANEL. THE AIR BAGS (DRIVER'S AND SIDE CURTAINS) DEPLOYED. AFTER THE COLLISION AND INITIAL AUTO-BRAKING, I LOST ALL ABILITY TO BRAKE USING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CAR CONTINUED FOR APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER QUARTER MILE BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. BEFORE THE CAR CAME TO A STOP, I JUMPED/ROLLED OUT OF THE CAR BECAUSE I WASN'T SURE IF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. THE WHITE DUST AND SMELL (FROM AIR BAGS) HAD ME CONCERNED. MY MAJOR CONCERN NOW IS THAT I LOST NORMAL BRAKING ABILITY. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT. THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE REPORT NUMBER IS PA 2019-1706182. INSURANCE COVERAGE WAS BY NATIONWIDE. MY CALIM NUMBER IS 022305-GK. THE CAR IS BEING REPAIRED BY CAR CARE COLLISION IN HONESDALE, PA.
A SPONTANEOUS CRACK APPEARED ON 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHAT STARTED OUT AS A SPELL CRACK, ABOUT 4 INCHES LONG, HAS NOW PROGRESSED TO ALMOST 12 INCHES IN A DAY.
I RAN SOME ERRANDS ONE EVENING AND PARKED MY CAR WITH A COMPLETELY CRACK FREE WINDSHIELD, AND WHEN I GOT BACK TO MY CAR, THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT TO CAUSE THE CRACK.
I HAVE OWNED MY OUTBACK FOR 6 MONTHS. IN THAT TIME I HAVE HAD MY WINDSHIELD CRACK 2 TIMES WITH NO APPARENT DAMAGE. THE FIRST TIME WAS 2 WEEKS AFTER OWNERSHIP, DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, NOT IMPACT FROM ANYTHING AND IT JUST CRACKED. SECOND WAS TONIGHT, DRIVING HOME I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A LARGE DRIP, NEXT THING I KNOW MY WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED ON THE BOTTOM NEAR THE DEFROSTER. I LOOKED ALONG THE CRACK AND THEIR IS NO CHIP OR EVIDENCE OF IMPACT.
WINDOW SLOW/STOP GOING UP ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR, AUDIO SYSTEM WAS HAVING LOUD POPPING NOISE, SYSTEM THAT IS SUPPOSED TO TELL YOU WHEN HOW CLOSE YOU ARE TO ANOTHER CAR/AUTOMATICALLY BREAK- TURNS OFF ON OWN/SAYS NO SIGHT CAMERA.
I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT, ALONG WITH THE REGULAR OIL CHANGE, AND THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT THE SPINDLE IS BENT. THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THIS COULD ONLY HAVE OCCURRED IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS IN THE 11,800 SINCE WE PURCHASED IT NEW LAST DECEMBER.
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED, FIRST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. CRACK STARTED HALFWAY UP NEAR WHERE IT IS GLUED AND THEN SPREAD OUT ABOUT 2 FEET DIRECTLY IN THE DRIVERS VIEW, VERY MINOR IMPACT ACCORDING TO SUBARU DEALER. FOUR DAYS LATER AN OTHER CRACK STARTED HALFWAY UP ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE ALSO NEAR THE GLUE POINT AND THEN SPREAD OUT ABOUT 2 FEET DIRECTLY IN THE PASSENGERS VIEW. CRACK ARE UNRELATED AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALER BOTH WERE FROM MINOR IMPACTS ALTHOUGH I CAN NOT SEE ANY INPACT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ALSO NEITHER CRACK WAS THERE WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR THE NIGHT, BOTH WERE DISCOVERED IN THE MORNING.
VEHICLE HAD TWO SPONTANEOUS CRACKS WITHIN THE FIRST 1700 MILES OF USE.
WE SUSTAINED A CRACKED WINDSHIELD FROM A SMALL STONE IMPACT WHILE TRAVELING AT 60MPH ON A MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY. THE ROAD AND WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE GOOD, WITH NO OBVIOUS DEBRIS ON ROAD, AND ONLY PASSENGER CARS IN FRONT AND NEXT TO US SUGGESTING STONE MAY HAVE COME FROM ANOTHER CARS TIRE TREAD. THE IMPACT LEFT A SMALL (~1MM) CRATER ON PASSENGER SIDE ABOUT MID-WAY UP AND ~2 INCHES FROM EDGE, BUT GENERATED A CURVED CRACK NEARLY A FOOT IN LENGTH (AND STILL EXPANDING) AND REACHING ALL THE WAY TO THE EDGE OF WINDSHIELD. I OWNED A 2007 SUBURU FOR OVER TEN YEARS PRIOR TO THIS VEHICLE AND SUSTAINED MANY MINOR GRAVEL IMPACTS ESPECIALLY POST-WINTER STORM AND NEVER SUSTAINED DAMAGE REQUIRING WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT. LIKEWISE WITH OVER 40-YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH NUMEROUS CARS I HAVE NEVER SEEN A WINDSHIELD FAIL GIVEN IMPACT BY SMALL STONE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT AND PRESENTS SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. THE COST FOR REPLACEMENT IS HIGH BECAUSE SENSORS REQUIRE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FROM SUBURU AND CHANCE OF SUBSEQUENT FAILURE IS ALSO HIGH GIVEN REPLACEMENT WOULD LIKELY ALSO BE DEFECTIVE.

THE PROBLEM AS I SEE IT IS THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL SLOWLY SINKS TO THE FLOOR OR A HARD MECHANICAL STOP WHERE NO FURTHER HARD PRESSURE CAN BE APPLIED. THIS OCCURS WHEN LIGHT TO MEDIUM PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE PEDAL AND HELD FOR ABOUT 10-20 SECONDS. IT CAN BE DEMONSTRATED WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR PARKED. IN ORDER TO RECOVER TO FULL PEDAL HEIGHT AND USE, THE PEDAL NEEDS TO BE RELEASED AND PUMPED UP TO NORMAL HEIGHT. THE DEALER TECHNICIAN DEMONSTRATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL ALSO SINKS ON A NEW 2020 OUTBACK. HE DID NOT SHOW TO WHAT AMOUNT, BUT SAID IT WAS NORMAL IN MY CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED A SECOND TIME AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY WINDSHIELD HAVE BEEN REPLACE 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 8 MONTHS DO TO STRESS CRACKS HENDERSON GLASS IS NOT GOING TO REPLACE THEM AGAIN THEY ARE SAYING THAT IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. PLEASE HELP THIS CANT BE HAPPENING I ALREADY PAY $600 FOR IT
WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK UNDER THE WIPER BLADE THAT HAS SPREAD OUTWARD IN A C PATTERN. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN SHOPPING AREA AND NO OTHER PERSONAL WERE NEARBY. WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND NO OBJECTS HAD IMPACTED THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. STAR PATTERN WAS NOTICED AFTER DEALERSHIP USED PEN TO OPEN THE AREA UP MORE. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PICTURE
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WHEN A CHIP SUDDENLY APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD ON THE LEFT SIDE ON THE WINDSHIELD. I THOUGHT THIS WAS STRANGE CONSIDERING I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH A LARGE MEDIAN AND NO TRUCKS NEAR ME. OVER THE NEXT HOUR THE CHIP TURNED INTO A 6 INCH PLUS CRACK. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED UNDER MY CAR INSURANCE POLICY.
I WAS IN WYOMING FOR A LITTLE TRIP AT THE END OF NOVEMBER. IT WAS ONLY 22 F OUTSIDE IN THE MORNING. CAR WAS ON A PARKING SPOT. I ALWAYS WARMING UP MY CAR BEFORE DRIVING. I DID PUT DEFROST ON FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, TO MELT DOWN LITTLE BIT OF ICE ON WINDSHIELD. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR AND CLOSED THE DOOR, THE CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD ALMOST AT THE MIDDLE APPEARED. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER, THAT CRACK SPLIT IN TWO DIRECTIONS. AT THIS MOMENT, ONE LITTLE PROLONGED CHIP OF GLASS CAME OUT AT THE POINT OF SPLIT. I WENT TO ONE OF THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP WITH THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T COVER WINDSHIELDS, AND THAT I HAVE TO GO TO CAR GLASS SHOP AND DO IT ON MY OWN. SO, LATER ON I WENT TO ANOTHER SUBARU DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING, BUT ALSO, THEY WERE ASSURING ME THAT THE CRACK HAPPENED BECAUSE OF SOMETHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THEY DIDN'T EVEN WANTED TO LISTEN, WHAT I WAS TELLING ABOUT HOW IT HAPPENED. NOW I HAVING FREQUENT FALSE ALARMS FOR LANE DEPARTURE AND OBSTACLE ON THE WAY.
UNKNOWN ORIGIN. CURRENTLY APPROXIMATE MILES 12500. TRAVEL 450-550 MILES PER WEEK, 400-450 MILES ARE HIGHWAY MILES. SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 10,000-11,000 MILES I STARTED NOTICING A HIGH-PITCHED SQUEALING/WHINING ONLY WHILE IN MOTION. IT STARTS AROUND 20-30 MPH, AND EITHER GOES AWAY OR BECOMES UNNOTICEABLE AFTER ~50 MPH. COULD NOT PINPOINT WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. WHEN SCHEDULING REGULAR MAINTENANCE, DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED OF NOISE. AT THE TIME OF MAINTENANCE, SERVICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATED SAID NOISE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT IT WAS THE CARRIER BEARING. HE DID NOT MAKE IT SOUND URGENT, THAT IT WAS "MORE OF AN ANNOYANCE RIGHT NOW" AND WOULD CAUSE "MORE SERIOUS ISSUES EVENTUALLY ".
WINDSHIELD IS TOO SOFT AS I TWO PLACES THAT HAVE CRACKED AND ONE THAT CHIPPED. THE ITEMS THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD WERE SMALL AND SHOULDN'T HAVE CAUSED THE DAMAGE THEY DID. I'VE HAD OTHER VEHICLES THAT WERE HIT BY MUCH BIGGER DEBRIS AND NO DAMAGE. WINDSHIELD IS SUBSTANDARD. ALL DAMAGE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I CAN PROVIDE PHOTOS BUT I DID HAVE SAFELITE REPAIRS TWO OF CRACKS.
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
