BROKEN WINDSHIELD. THERE HAS BEEN NO IMPACT AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF IMPACT YET MY WINSHIELD ON A 5 MONTH OLD CAR IS CRACKED. ITS APPROXIMATELY 10 INCHES AND CIRCULAR FROM THE TOP DOWN BEHIND THE REARVIEW MIRROR. I NOTICED THE CRACK WHILE PARKED. POSSIBILITY AFTER GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH. ALSO THE HEAT FROM BEING PARKED ON THE HOT DRIVEWAY MAY HAVE BROUGHT OUT THE FLAW.
I purchased this 2019 Subaru Outback new. In less than three months, the windshield cracked at the edge on the driver's side. I had the window replaced and two years later it cracked again in exactly the same place. I have not had the vehicle inspected since then and there were no warning lights or other symptoms prior to the crack appearing.
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN CASTLE ROCK CO. NOTHING HIT BY WINDSHIELD OR ANYTHING. NEXT THING I KNOW. LARGE CRACK IS FORMING FROM THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE EDGE.
WINDSHIELD HAS SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED TWICE IN 6 MONTHS, ONCE WHEN DRIVING DOWN AN IN TOWN ROAD, ONCE WHEN SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT ALL DAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK.
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD WINDSHIELD CRACKS APPEAR THREE TIMES IN THE SIX MONTHS WE HAVE OWNED IT (PURCHASED NEW). BOTH THE DEALER AND THE GLASS REPAIR SHOP INDICATE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL. IN THE FIRST TWO INSTANCES, THERE WAS A MINOR IMPACT WITH A SMALL PEBBLE OR BIT OF SAND AT CITY SPEEDS (LESS THAN 40 MPH) AND IN THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT, THE CRACK APPEARED SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT OBVIOUS IMPACT WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. NONE OF THE IMPACTS WERE SUFFICIENT, IN MY ESTIMATION, TO CAUSE DAMAGE SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE WINDSHIELD, BUT, IN ALL CASES, THE CRACK SPREAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD WITHIN MOMENTS. BASED ON OTHER REPORTS ON THE INTERNET, IT WOULD APPEAR THE WINDSHIELD ON THESE VEHICLES IS POORLY DESIGNED AND/OR MANUFACTURED, CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE.
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND HAVE DRIVEN IT LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. IT WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO CRACKS OR DINGS IN IT AS OF TWO DAYS AGO AND COMING OUT TO MY CAR THIS MORNING THERE IS NOW AN 18 INCH HAIRLINE CRACK. THERE IS NO IMPACT AREA AND NO ROCKS HAVE HIT MY WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING IT. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THIS IS SPONTANEOUS BREAKAGE, ESPECIALLY READING THESE OTHER COMPLAINTS. THE WINDSHIELD HAS NOT BEEN TOUCHED AND THE WEATHER HAS BEEN MILD. THIS IS UNREAL.
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. IT WAS SNOWING, WE HAD THE WIPERS GOING AND THE VENTS TO DEFROST ON. ON OUR 3 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK, WHILE WE WERE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT THE CRACK FORMED, AND THEN SPREAD. IT COVERS NEARLY THE ENTIRE WIDTH OF THE WINDSHIELD. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS A WATER STREAK - BUT IT DID NOT FOLLOW THE PATH OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. WE DID NOT HIT A ROCK OR A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THERE WAS NO DEBRIS ON THE ROAD, THERE WAS NO HAIL, THERE WAS NO REASON TO EXPLAIN THE CRACK. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE SUBARU DEALER WHICH WE PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY TOLD US THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW WINDSHIELD FROM SUBARU AND THEN HAVE IT INSTALLED BY THEM. WE NEEDED TO DO THIS SO THEY COULD RE-CALIBRATE THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM. I AM INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED THAT A 2019 VEHICLE REQUIRES SUCH AN EXPENSIVE WINDSHIELD REPAIR AFTER NO FAULTY DRIVING OR CLEAR INCIDENT THAT CAUSED DAMAGE. WE WERE QUOTED $1700 TO REPLACE AND RECALIBRATE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STATE HIGHWAY ON 9/26/19 AT 55 MPH MY PASSENGER AND I HEARD A SMALL LITTLE TICK SOUND AND SHE SAID, "THAT'S THE SAME SOUND MY CROSSTREK MADE ON MONDAY WHEN IT CHIPPED AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD". SO WE STARTED LOOKING AROUND THE WINDSHIELD AND SURE ENOUGH NOW MINE WAS CHIPPED AND CRACKED AT 5 WEEKS OF AGE, BOTH VEHICLES WERE BOUGHT NEW. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER, 10/12/19, ON AN INTERSTATE AT 70MPH ANOTHER SMALL, INSIGNIFICANT TICK AND I START LOOKING AROUND AND AGAIN, SAME THING. YESTERDAY (AS OF THIS POST) ON A STATE HIGHWAY AT 55MPH, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME THIS TIME THE SAME SMALL TICK SOUND YET ANOTHER CHIP AND CRACK! I'VE HIT BUGS HARDER THAN THESE HITS THAT ARE PRODUCING CHIPS AND CRACKS!! BOTH MY 2019 CROSSTREK AND 2019 OUTBACK NOW HAVE MULTIPLE CHIPS AND CRACKS IN THEIR BRAND NEW WINDSHIELDS AND NONE OF THEM ARE FROM LEGITIMATE IMPACTS WITH A STONE OR ROCK.
VEHICLE STEERING IS DANGEROUS...VEHICLE SUDDENLY LUNGED HARD RIGHT THEN HARD LEFT ...ALL WHILE IN MOTION ON THE ROAD ABOUT 35 MPH...WAS VERY PERPLEXED AND I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOW...AFTER GOOGLING MAKE & MODEL RECALLS EARLIER YEARS HAD STEERING ISSUES RECALLED...PERHAPS THIS IS THE CASE FOR THIS VEHICLE? TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE...
WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED ACROSS PASSENGER SIDE TO MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD.. WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND IT SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED . THE CRACK GREW OVER A COURSE OF ABOUT 2 WEEKS..
HEADLIGHTS ARE AIMED TOO HIGH. ACCORDING TO SUBARU THIS CAN'T BE ADJUSTED. THIS IS THEIR STEERING ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHT. I GET HIGH-BEAM BLINKED BUT TOO MANY ONCOMING CARS. ON DARK NIGHTS I CAN SEE THEIR ANGLE IS UP NOT DOWN TOWARD ROAD. I SEE GREAT BUT ONCOMING MUST BE DIFFICULT. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO HAVE ABILITY TO ADJUST.
THERE IS A SMALL CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE LEFT SIDE OR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR. THE CRACK OR DEFECT APPEARS TO BE IN BETWEEN THE GLASS.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN CHARGING SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 9 PHONE WITH STAPLES CHARGER PLUGGED INTO 12V SOCKET. THIS IS NOT ONLY HAPPENING IN MY SUBARU. I RENTED A 2019 NISSAN PICK UP AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. THE QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE ARE: ARE THE AIRBAGS STILL FUNCTIONAL WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. IS IT AN ISSUE WITH THE SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 9. IS IT AN ISSUE WITH A QUICK CHARGER PLUGGED INTO THE 12V SOCKET. SINCE IT HAPPENED ON 3 CARS (2 DIFFERENT SUBARUS, NISSAN TRUCK), MY ASSUMPTION IS THE PHONE, CHARGER OR COMBINATION OF THE TWO. HAPPENS WHEN I PLUG THE PHONE IN, WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, I'M USUALLY IN MOTION. DOESN'T MATTER CITY, HIGHWAY, TURNING, ETC. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING REGULARLY FOR SOME TIME.
LESS THAN 5 MONTHS OLD AND THE WINDSHIELD RANDOMLY STARTING CRACKING ON PASSENGER SIDE UNDER VIPER. I HAVE NOT KNOWN ANYTHING TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK HAS NOW MOVED OVER THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD.
THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM THE MID-CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE PARKED. THE CRACK BEGAN IN OCTOBER, 2019, LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE. THERE WAS NO IMPACT CAUSING DAMAGE AND THE CRACK BEGAN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. *TR
WINDSHIELD CRACKED, VEHICLE WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS OLD. WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE WE WERE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT - THE DEFROSTER WASN'T ON AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT TOUCHED THE WINDSHIELD. CAR WAS PARKED AND THE CRACK JUST FORMED SPONTANEOUSLY, 2 PEOPLE WITNESSED THE CRACK IN REAL TIME. STARTED VERTICALLY FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, WENT UP APPROXIMATELY 5 INCHES, THE SPREAD SIDEWAYS ABOUT 12 INCHES IN EITHER DIRECTION.
Car was purchased 2/25/19. At 6,824 miles (10/28/19), our car began to no turn on. After a 3-4 times of jumping it, the battery stopped responding to the jump. Subaru had to tow it from our house because the battery was totally done and they couldn't even start it. Subaru said that the battery was defective (or might have a larger issue with the electrical system in their words). They replaced the battery and it began working again (7,000 miles - 11/4/19). Now, at 13,808 miles (6/16/21) - we've had 2 more instances in the past 2 weeks of the car not starting. In addition, the passenger side window no longer operates from the driver side door. We are confident that these issues are not being caused by lights left on, etc. We are taking it in again for another inspection. I have come to understand that this may be a design flaw with the electrical system including the 2019 Outback model.
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 8/22/2019 AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE SITTING OUTSIDE OF OUR CARPORT ON 10/27/2019. THE CRACK EXTENDS FROM THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE ACROSS TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MIRROR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. FEELING THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE IT FEELS LIKE THE WINDSHIELD IS UNEVEN ON TOP LIKE THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN STRESS ON IT.
I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 40 MPH THE STEERING SEEMS TO "SLIP" AND PULL THE CAR TO THE RIGHT. AT THAT TIME THE STEERING WHEEL HAS ADDITIONAL PLAY MAKING AN IMMEDIATE CORRECTION IMPOSSIBLE. HIGHWAYS HAVE BEEN CLEAR HOWEVER I AM CONCERNED WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN ROADS ARE SLICK W INCLEMENT WEATHER. TOOK BACK TO DEALER; THEY ADJUSTED TOE RODS. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE.
THE WINDSHIELD OF MY CAR CRACKED BY ITSELF WHILE IT WAS PARKED AT THE PARKING RAMP AT WORK.
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A RAMP. THE CRACK IS AT THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON, LARGE CRACK ON PASSENGER SIDE. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON CITY STREETS WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO TREES OR CARS NEARBY, MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM THE DRIVER SIDE ALL THE WAY TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE FOUND THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUES WITH SUBARU INVOLVING A LOST LAW SUIT IN 2018, AND A CURRENT 2019 LAW SUIT ON GOING. THERE ARE NEARLY 100 COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA.GOV, COUNTLESS ARTICLES, AND FORUMS FROM 2019 SUBARU OWNERS. IN ADDITION, MY REAR WINDSHIELD FLUID DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRONIC ISSUES INCLUDING THE TOUCH SCREEN CONSTANTLY RESETTING, THE VOICE ACTIVATION TURNING ON BY SELF ITSELF, AND NOTIFICATION ALARMS GOING OFF FOR NO REASON (LIKE OBSTACLE IN ROAD WITH NOTHING THERE) JUST TO NAME A FEW. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM HELP WITH THE WINDSHIELD THEY WERE VERY RUDE AND DISMISSIVE, THEY WOULDN'T EVEN BEGIN TO LISTEN TO ME OFTEN INTERRUPTING ME WHEN I SPOKE AND REFUSING TO HELP ME WITH MY ISSUES. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT SUBARU DIRECTLY SINCE THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. I AM BEGINNING TO WONDER IF I NEED TO PURSUE A LEMON LAW CASE OR IF I CAN ACTUALLY BE HELPED AT ALL WITH THESE ISSUES. I AM A LONGTIME FAN OF SUBARU AND WAS GREATLY LOOKING FORWARD TO OWNING MY OWN FOR THE FIRST TIME.
2019 Subaru Outback purchased 7/10/19 during that fall and following winter had the battery die multiple times. We keep it in a garage where it does not freeze in the winter. Had to jump it to start each time. Finally took it to the dealership 4/29/20 with 4,669 miles on it to complain to dealership. They said that there was nothing wrong with the battery. They told us that it needed to be driven every couple of days to keep the battery charged to prevent the parasitic electrical draw from draining the battery. This was during the heart of the 'Stay at home/COVID' so we did not use it everyday. It continues to have the battery drain problem. Just this weekend 1/15/22 we had to jump the battery in our driveway to leave and drove 30 minutes to the store and expected the battery to keep the charge but after leaving the store found the battery dead again. Luckily we found a nice guy who offered to give us a jump. This is a continual problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Subaru Outback. The contact stated that the Navigation System failed to operate as needed. The instrument panel failed to illuminate properly. The contact stated that he attempted to turn off the vehicle; however, the push to start failed to operate. Additionally, when the contact attempted to lock the vehicle using the key fob, the vehicle failed to lock, and the alarm failed to engage. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the vehicle was inspected; however, the part to do the repair was on backorder. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60.
WINDSHIELD CRACK APPEARED NEAR THE TOP, BY THE DRIVER ASSIST CAMERA. UNKNOWN HOW IT OCCURRED. OWNER ASSUMED CAUSED BY ROCK SLUNG BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT CRACK WAS NOT NOTICED UNTIL MANY DAYS LATER. INSURANCE REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD, BUT A SUBARU DEALERSHIP CHARGED $270 FOR EYESIGHT RE-CALIBRATION.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED DURING THE YEAR'S FIRST FREEZE. CAR WAS GARAGE PARKED AND NO IMPACT OCCURRED. SUBARU PROVIDES NO SUPPORT FOR THIS ISSUE, SO I'M JUST GOING TO DRIVE AROUND WITH A BROKEN WINDSHIELD AND TAKE ON THE ASSOCIATED RISKS.
THE WINDSHIELD OF MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 50 MPH, WITH NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME OR COMING THE OTHER WAY. THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT HIT BY ROAD DEBRIS OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT. THERE WAS JUST A LOUD "POP". THE EYESIGHT FUNCTIONALITY IS NOW INCONSISTENT AS THE CRACK EXTENDED FROM 6 INCHES TO ACROSS THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD IN A FEW HOURS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS NOT BELOW FREEZING AND WAS ABOUT 45-50 DEGREES. THE COSTS TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD LIKE THIS ARE EXORBITANT BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE "SAFETY" FEATURES AND RE-CALIBRATING INVOLVED. I BROUGHT THE PROBLEM TO THE ATTENTION OF MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I INQUIRED ABOUT KNOWN DEFECTS WITH THE WINDSHIELD AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO DEFECTS WITH THE WINDSHIELDS IN THE SUBARU OUTBACK 2019.
CRACK APPEARED IN WINDSHIELD WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE AND QUICKLY EXPANDED, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. FIRST NOTICED CRACK WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. NO VISIBLE NICK, NOTHING APPEARED TO HAVE HIT WINDSHIELD PRIOR TO APPEARANCE OF CRACK.
I HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD AFTER LESS THAN 2 MONTHS OWNERSHIP OF MY 2019 OUTBACK. I CONTACTED SUBARU AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE IT WITH SUBARU PARTS, AND HAVE THE NEW WINDSHIELD SYNCED WITH MY "EYESIGHT" SO IT WOULD WORK PROPERLY. FRANKLY I COULDN'T AFFORD TO SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY SO I JUST WENT AND GOT AN AFTER-MARKET WINDSHIELD. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT HAPENED, OUT OF NOWHERE. MEANWHILE I AM OUT ALMOST $400 FOR SOMETHING I THINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. I OWN 2 SUBARU'S ...BOTH 2019, AND FELT LIKE I WASN'T TREATED PROPERLY BY SUBARU.
OUR WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWICE IN ONE YEAR. THE SECOND CRACK OCCURRED SIX WEEKS AFTER REPLACEMENT OVERNIGHT WHILE PARKED IN A GARAGE. IT EXTENDS THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR ATTACHMENT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED- STARTED AS A SMALL CRACK AND NOW HAS SPREAD OVER THE WINDSHIELD
THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A LARGE CRACK STARTING FROM THE TOP-CENTER EDGE WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OR SIGNS OF IMPACT. THE CRACK WAS NOT THERE IN THE EVENING AND WAS OVER 6" LONG IN THE MORNING (VEHICLE PARKED IN FULLY ENCLOSED GARAGE OVERNIGHT).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE CRACKS ON HIS WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WEBSTER GROVES SUBARU (7982 BIG BEND BLVD, WEBSTER GROVES, MO 63119) ON TWO OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPAIRED FOR VARIOUS CRACKS. AFTER THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPAIRED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK PURCHASED DEC. 26, 2018. ON SEPT. 28, 2019, I NOTICED A SMALL STAR LIKE CRACK, ABOUT 3/16 THS OF AN INCH IN CIRCUMFERENCE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK WAS ABOUT ONE INCH IN FROM THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE ROOF POST. THE NEXT DAY, SEPT. 29, 2019, THE STAR HAD RADIATED INTO A CRACK WHICH RAN ALL THE WAY INTO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. AT THE TIME THE CAR HAD 4,615 MILES ON IT AND IT HAD NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD. I TOOK IT TO THE SUBARU DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL WINDSHIELD REPAIR/REPLACEMENT SHOP. ON SEPT. 30, 2019 I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 395. I THEN HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE SUBARU DEALER TO HAVE "EYESIGHT" SYSTEM RE-CALIBRATED AT A COST OF $ 206. I DON'T RECALL THE WINDSHIELD BEING HIT BY ANYTHING ON SEPT. 28,2019 AND THE STAR CHIP WAS NOT THERE WHEN I LEFT HOME THAT MORNING.
PURCHASED OUTBACK WITH 6K MILES 8/2019 HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 3 WINDSHIELDS 1ST WAS SMALL CHIP WHEN DRIVING THAT GREW ALMOST INSTANTLY TO APPROX 2 FEET AFTER 2ND REPLACEMENT DROVE HOME PARKED IN GARAGE WOKE UP TO CRACK ACROSS MIDDLE OF WINDOW ORIGINATING DRIVER SIDE A PILLAR HALF WAY UP WENT BACK TO SAFELITE THEY SUGGESTED TO CONTACT SUBARU . I FEEL THIS IS POOR QUALITY MATERIAL WINDSHIELD
IN 2019THE BATTERY ON THE VEHICLE DRAINED WHILE ON A CAMPING TRIP TO THE DESERT, WHICH LEFT US STRANDED. WE GOT IT JUMPED AND DROVE HOME. SUBARU DEALER SAID THAT THEY WOULD INSTALL NEW COMPUTER SOFTWARE TO FIX. IN 2021, WE TOOK CAR TO SUBARU FOR 36K CHECKUP. THEY SAID THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT BEING STRANED AGAIN IF WE GO TO REMOTE DESTINATIONS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME, AND I HEARD A CLICK. I LOOKED AROUND AND NOTICED A 3' CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK HAS SINCE GROWN TO 24'
SEPTEMBER 20, 2019. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK SURROUNDED BY AN OPEN FIELD AND NOTHING ELSE. A SPONTANEOUS FAULT APPEARED IN MY WINDSHIELD. ON THE WAY HOME THE SAME DAY, A SECOND ONE APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE AND WITHOUT ANYTHING STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD. OVERNIGHT THE SECOND FAULT GREW LONG CRACKS FROM IT WHICH WE NOTICED. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING FAULT. I FEEL BADLY BECAUSE IT IS MY FIRST SUBARU PURCHASE AND HAVE BEEN MOSTLY DELIGHTED SO FAR. THERE IS NO IMPACT TO THE CAR'S WINDSHIELD, AND THE DAMAGE SPONTANEOUSLY APPEARED IN TWO PLACES JUST HOURS APART.
A VEHICLE SLOW STARTING. WOUND NOT START AT TIMES. BATTERY FAILED TESTING. REPLACED AT DEALER.
WHILE STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT, ON A CITY STREET, THE REAR WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY BROKE. THE BREAKING WAS UNPROMPTED AS NO OBJECT WAS HEARD OR SEEN TO HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD; A REVIEW CONDUCTED BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES OF NEARBY CAMERA FOOTAGE CONFIRMED THIS AS WELL. THE SAME ISSUES NOTED BY MANY OTHERS IN THE THIRD CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST SUBARU REGARDING THEIR FAULTY WINDOWS EXACTLY DESCRIBES OUR SITUATION. THE LOCAL POLICE WERE CALLED ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT TO FILE THE REPORT. ADDITIONALLY, A CALL TO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP WAS MADE, IN WHICH THEY STATED THEY WERE "UNAWARE" OF ANY ISSUES WITH THEIR WINDOWS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR, CAUSING US TO PAY $837.99 OUT OF POCKET. DOCUMENTS CAN BE PROVIDED SHOULD THEY BE NEEDED TO FURTHER THIS COMPLAINT.
THE WINDSHIELD HAS TAKEN MORE ROCK CHIPS AND CRACKS THAN ANY OTHER WINDSHIELD I'VE HAD. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO HAVE MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED BY THEIR CERTIFIED GROUPS DUE TO THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM AND THEY WANTED ME TO REPLACE MY BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD FOR $1500. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR IN JULY. SEPTEMBER A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND IT WAS ON A SUNDAY AND THERE WASN'T A REPAIR SHOP OPEN ON SUNDAY AND WHEN I CAME OUT THE THE CAR MONDAY MORNING IT SPREAD OVER 2 FEET. I'M RELUCTANT TO REPLACE SINCE I KNOW I WILL CATCH ANOTHER ROCK AS SOON AS I SHELL OUT WAY TOO MUCH FOR GLASS.
SPONTANEOUS CRACK IN WINDSHIELD NOTICED AND REPORTED TO SUBARU ON 9/13/19. I WAS DRIVING IN THE LATE AFTERNOON. NO VEHICLES NEAR ME WHEN I HEARD A "POP". VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW 8/24/19.
WE BOUGHT OUR OUTBACK NEW IN JUNE OF 2019 AND IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS HAVE EXPERIENCED 2 CRACKS IN OUR WINDSHIELD DESPITE EVER BEING HIT WITH A ROCK OR OTHER DEBRIS. BOTH CRACKS APPEARED AFTER BEING PARKED OVER NIGHT.
2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DESIGN OR MALFUNCTIONING OF TECHNOLOGY. THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO MAINTAIN ADJUSTED SPEED. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET TO 45MPH AT WHICH POINT, THE VEHICLE SPEED UP AND CRASHED INTO THE CAR AHEAD. THE PRE-COLLISION BRAKE SYSTEM DID NOT ACTIVATE. *JS
EYESIGHT WINDSHIELD BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY IN LIGHT RAIN. NO KNOWN CAUSE. CRACK CONTINUED EXPANDING FOR 2 DAYS IN WARM, DRY WEATHER. HAD WINDSHIELD REPLACED ON AN INSURANCE CLAIM WITH SAFELITE AND THEY ALSO CALIBRATED THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS.
I HAVE HAD 4 WINDSHIELD CRACKS ON MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK SINCE PURCHASE IN MARCH 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ALL 4 TIMES AND WAS HIT BY A ROCK. THIS CANNOT BE NORMAL- I HAD A HONDA CIVIC FOR 7 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES AND NO CRACKS (EVEN THOUGH ROCKS HIT IT MANY TIMES).
WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 2019 OUTBACK, I HAD AN 10-TO-12-INCH CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. I AM AN INCREDIBLY CAREFUL DRIVER AND HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVING ON PAVED ROADS AT MODERATE SPEEDS. I ALSO WAS DRIVING A PASSENGER AROUND DURING THIS TIME PERIOD AND NEITHER ONE OF US HEARD A SOUND (E.G., A ROCK OR PEBBLE FLYING UP AND HITTING THE WINDSHIELD). I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE HOW I COULD HAVE GOTTEN A LARGE CRACK WITHIN THE FIRST TEN DAYS ON THE ROAD, ESPECIALLY SINCE NEITHER I NOR MY PASSENGER ENCOUNTERED ANY SORT OF ROAD CONDITION OR ENVIRONMENTAL/WEATHER CONDITION THAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED IT. IT JUST MYSTERIOUSLY APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD ONE DAY. I HAVE BEEN CONFUSED FOR THE PAST 6 WEEKS BUT THEN I HEARD THAT THERE HAD BEEN SIMILAR ISSUES WITH SUBARU WINDSHIELDS, AND I BELIEVE MINE IS SIMPLY DEFECTIVE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT, AND THIS REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED 10-YEAR WARRANTY. THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP CONNECTED ME WITH SAFELITE, WHICH GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF OVER $1500 TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD.
ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2019, BETWEEN 3-4 PM, I WAS TAKING THE SUN REFLECTOR OUT OF MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WHEN I TAPPED THE REARVIEW MIRROR. SOON AFTER TAPPING THE MIRROR, I HEARD A LARGE POP FROM MY FRONT WINDSHIELD AND THE REARVIEW MIRROR FELL WITH A LARGE CHUNK OF GLASS COMING OUT WITH IT. THE HOLE DID NOT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, THE OUTERMOST LAYERS OF THE GLASS WINDOW WERE STILL THERE, BUT SEVERAL LAYERS WERE MISSING LEAVING A 2 INCH BY 2-INCH HOLE GAP ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON JULY 31, 2019, SO I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER A MONTH. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP/SALE PERSON THAT I HAD WORKED WITH RIGHT AFTER IT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY GOT ME IN TO HAVE THE ISSUED FIXED ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2019. HE AGREED THAT WHAT OCCURRED SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITH THE CAR BEING PRETTY MUCH BRAND NEW. WHEN I WENT INTO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT AWARE AT ALL OF ANY ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLES' WINDSHIELDS AND THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENING BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IT WAS A WARM DAY, WITH THE AIR TEMPERATURE WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED SITTING AROUND 91-93F ACCORDING TO THE KOUN WEATHER STATION. THE WARM TEMPERATURES MIGHT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PROBLEM WEAKENING THE POINT OF CONTACT WITH THE GLUE AND THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS SPECULATION THOUGH AND THE MECHANICS WITH THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT PROVIDE A SOURCE OR REASON AS TO WHY THIS COULD HAVE OCCURRED, SO THE TRUE REASON FOR THE INCIDENT IS UNKNOWN.
BATTERY HAS DIED AT LEAST 6 TIMES SINCE APRIL 2019. TOOK TO DEALER TWICE AND THEY SAID "CARGO LIGHT WAS LEFT ON AND DRAINED THE BATTERY", ANOTHER TIME "REAR CARGO DOOR PROBABLY WAS AJAR", THEY ALSO SAID "PERHAPS IT IS NOT BEING DRIVEN ENOUGH" AND "WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF THE SYSTEM IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR WIFI SIGNAL SO THAT MIGHT DRAIN THE BATTERY TOO". I STOPPED TAKING IT TO DEALER AND RECHARGED IT ON MY OWN. DEALER SAID THEY'D REPLACE THE BATTERY BUT COULD ONLY DO IT WITH THE SAME SIZE AS THE ORIGINAL.
