A COUPLE DAYS AGO WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON A BACK ROAD AND USING CRUISE @35MPH, THE CAR FOR NO REASON SUDDENLY STARTED BREAKING AS IF TO AVOID A COLLISION. NOTHING WAS IN FRONT OF ME, NOT EVEN AN ONCOMING CAR AT A DISTANCE. NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. MY RESPONSE WAS TO MANUALLY APPLY THE BRAKE AND THAT KICKED OUT CRUISE. I HAVEN'T HAD IT HAPPEN AGAIN. IS THAT SOMETHING THAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN USING CRUISE AT LOW SPEEDS? IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IT COULD BE QUITE DANGEROUS...
I GOT A BRAND NEW SUBARU 2019 SUV IN SECOND WEEK OF MAY 2019. CAR HAS AROUND 5500 MILES ON IT. WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK THAT I OBSERVED WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR NEXT MORNING. OVERNIGHT CAR WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVE WAY. THERE ARE NO TREES AND I DONT SEE ANY ROCKS HITTING. IT CRACKED OUT OF NO WHERE
FRONT WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED ON A PARKED VEHICLE FROM THE MID LEVEL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. SEARCHING ONLINE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER USERS HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEM. HAVE JUST 6000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT HAS BEEN JUST 5 MONTHS SINCE I BROUGHT THE NEW CAR.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. PARKED AT A CONVENIENCE STORE, NOTHING AROUND THE VEHICLE, CAME OUT AND NOTICED A CRACK FROM THE A POST INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY, ATTEMPTED TO CALL INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY.
DRIVING DOWN NORMAL HIGHWAY AND NOTICED A CRACK FORMING. WINDSHIELD CRACKED NEAR WIPER FROM MAYBE SOME ROAD DUST HIT IT THAT IS COMMON ON ANY HIGHWAY. NEVER HAD SUCH A BIG CRACK FROM NORMAL ROAD DUST BEFORE.
THE REAR LIFTGATE ONLY HAS THE EXTERIOR ELECTRIC BUTTON TO OPEN LIFTGATE. A PANEL INSIDE THE GATE HAS TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO GIVE ANYONE TRAPPED INSIDE A SAFE EXIT. THE PANEL REQUIRES A TOOL TO PRY IT OFF IN ORDER TO GET TO THE LATCH INSIDE. THE KEY REMOTE FOB WILL ONLY UNLOCK THE ELECTRIC SWITCH, NOT RELEASE THE LATCH. ANYONE TRAPPED INSIDE WOULD STILL NOT BE ABLE TO ESCAPE THE BACK OF THE CAR.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND A LITTLE PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD LEAVING A SMALL CHIP (SMALLER THAN THE SIZE OF A DIME). I PARKED THE CAR AND WITHIN AN HOUR, THIS CHIP KEPT GROWING INTO A LARGE CRACK. OVER ONLY A COUPLE DAYS IT HAD SPREAD TO CRACK ALL OVER THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS EXITING A CAR WASH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND DROVE OVER A CURB. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS FLATTENED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER THE CONTACT TURNED TO AVOID CRASHING INTO A WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED AFTER THE CLAIM BECOMES APPROVED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH SUBARU OF KINGS AUTOMALL (9536 KINGS AUTOMALL RD, CINCINNATI, OH 45249, (513) 583-9300) AND WAS INFORMED TO HAVE THE TIRE REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. AFTERWARDS, THE DEALER WOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THEM FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,300. *DT *TR
CRACK APPEARED ON WINDSHIELD WITHOUT ANY PRIOR DAMAGE TO THE AREA WHILE DRIVING. STARTED BELOW WINDSHIELD WIPER ON DRIVERSIDE AND CONTINUES FOR 24" ACROSS THE CENTER OF THE GLASS IN A CURVED 40 DEG ANGLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK EXPANDED IN HOT WEATHER. THE CONTACT CALLED LANCASTER COUNTY MOTORS SUBARU (1705 MANHEIM PIKE, LANCASTER, PA 717-569-4514), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY, BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000. *TT*JB
SUBSTANTIAL WINDSHIELD CRACK WITH NO VISIBLE PREVIOUS DAMAGE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTDOORS AT APPROXIMATELY 2045 CENTRAL TIME ON 8/15/2019 FACING WEST. AT APPROXIMATELY 0900 CENTRAL TIME ON 8/16/2019 VEHICLE HAD A SUBSTANTIAL 7+ INCH CRACK DESCENDING FROM TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD DIRECTLY ABOVE AND DESCENDING VERTICALLY DOWN FROM NEAR THE DRIVER EYESIGHT CAMERA. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR FOR GLASS WHICH IS MEANT TO PROTECT THE DRIVER AND PROVIDE A VIEW PORT FROM WHICH MOST SAFETY SYSTEMS OF THE VEHICLE OPERATE.
FRONT WINDOW CRACKED IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY GOING FORWARS.
SLOWLY PULLING STRAIGHT INTO PARKING SPOT AT GROCERY STORE. APPLIED BRAKE WHEN CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL STEERING, BUT BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. STEERED CAR INTO EMPTY PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF ME THEN TURNED HARD RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING PARKED CARS IN ROW ACROSS. SUBARU HIT A PICK UP TRUCK THAT WAS REVERSING OUT OF A DIAGONAL PARKING SPOT. THE CAR DIDN'T STOP UPON IMPACT, INSTEAD BOTH RIGHT SIDE WHEELS CLIMBED UP THE SIDE OF TRUCK AT AN ANGLE. AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY ON IMPACT. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE ACCELERATION WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR.
THE CAR FREQUENTLY DOES NOT START WHEN FOLLOWING CONDITIONS OCCUR: 1) FEW DAYS OF NON-USE, 2) AFTER SEVERAL SHORT DRIVES, AND, 3) HATCH IS KEPT OPEN FOR 2-3 HOURS. THE ISSUE WAS FIRST NOTICED 8 MONTHS AFTER THE START OF THE LEASE. SINCE THEN, IT HAS OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE JUMP STARTED SUGGESTING THE BATTERY IS DRAINED. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS ISSUE TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND FEW MONTHS BACK THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY UNDER WARRANTY. THE ISSUE HAS STARTED AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING MY BRAND NEW SUBARU OUTBACK 2019 WITH LESS THEN 1200 MILES ON IT AND I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE CENTER BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK WORKED IT'S WAY UP FROM THE BOTTOM. I DID NOT HEAR OR SEE ANY IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD. I IMMEDIATELY REPORTED THE ISSUE TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND SUBARU OF AMERICA (SR #:1-46794058270). THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL DEALER WAS CONVINCED THE GLASS CRACK WAS CAUSED BY AN IMPACT AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT. I HAD TO GO THROUGH INSURANCE TO GET THE REPAIRS FIXED. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THESE WINDSHIELDS THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
THREE WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED.
I BOUGHT MY BRAND NEW 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK ON MAY 19, 2019. ON AUGUST 9, 2019 (82 DAYS AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE), I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH DOWN A SIDE ROAD WITH VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC. A TINY ROCK STRUCK MY WINDSHIELD AND IMMEDIATELY CAUSED A CRACK. WITHIN MINUTES THE CRACK EXPANDED TO MORE THAN A FOOT LONG. WITHIN DAYS THE CRACK EXPANDED TO BE MORE THAN TWO FEET LONG. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AT THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP BY A THIRD-PARTY GLASS REPAIR BUSINESS (THAT CARTER SUBARU OF BALLARD USES FOR ALL GLASS REPLACEMENT). AFTER THE PART WAS INSTALLED, SUBARU HAD TO RECALIBRATE THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS TO ENSURE THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT ($748.58) AND THE RECALIBRATION ($345.45) TOTALED $1,0494.03. I THOUGHT I WAS JUST UNLUCKY, HAVING CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD AND REQUIRED REPAIRS ONLY 82 DAYS AFTER BUYING THE CAR. THEN TODAY I READ AN ARTICLE THAT SAID THE WINDSHIELDS ON 2017-2019 OUTBACKS MAY BE DEFECTIVE. IF THIS IS THE CASE, I'D LIKE SUBARU TO PAY FOR MY WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT,ENT.
WE HAD OUR FIRST SPONTANEOUS CRACK ABOUT A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING OUR OUTBACK IN NOVEMBER 2018. I'M NOT SURE WHERE IT HAPPENED BUT WE HAD NOT HAD ANY ROCKS HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED IT WAS A CHIP (THEY USED A BALLPOINT PEN TO INSPECT AND I BELIEVE THEY CREATED A SMALL CHIP ALONG THE CRACK LINE) BUT THEY REPLACED IT FOR FREE. THE SECOND CRACK OCCURRED ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THE NEW WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME AND HEARD IT HAPPEN; THERE WAS NO APPARENT ROAD HAZARD THAT CAUSED THE CRACK.THIS TIME I DIDN'T ALLOW THEM TO INSPECT WITH A BALLPOINT PEN AND, SURE ENOUGH, THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A SPONTANEOUS CRACK AND SUBARU REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD FOR US. THE THIRD CRACK JUST OCCURRED AND I BELIEVE IT IS ALSO A SPONTANEOUS CRACK THAT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. THERE IS NO APPARENT CHIP. ALL OF THEM START IN THE BLACK AREA BELOW THE WIPERS. I WONDER IF THERE COULD BE A DEFECT IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE CAR THAT CAUSES UNDUE STRESS ON THE WINDSHIELD. I WENT TO A LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND THE FIRST THING THEY DID WAS GET THEIR BALLPOINT PEN OUT. I WILL WAIT TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AND WILL ALSO PURSUE ISSUE WITH SUBARU CUSTOMER RELATIONS.
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR, COMING DOWN FROM A MOUNTAIN RANGE AND JUST REACHED THE BOTTOM. I CROSSED A CATTLE GUARD AND MY SUNROOF SHATTERED. I DO NOT BELIEVE I ROCK HIT AS THE DEALERSHIP BELIEVES AS THEIR WAS NO ONE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME AND I WAS IN A REMOTE AREA OF ARIZONA. I BELIEVE THE SUNROOF SHATTERED FOR EITHER NO REASON OR POSSIBLY CHANGE IN ELEVATION AND TEMPERATURES. THIS IS NOT SAFE. LUCKILY MY SHIELD WAS CLOSED, BUT THE SOUND ALONE WAS STARTLING AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE SITTING FACE FORWARD IN DRIVEWAY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN PEORIA AZ WHO DENIED LIABILITY. I PURSUED WITH SUBARU AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY (1 TIME ONLY). DEALERSHIP TOOK PHOTO'S. DATE OF 8/8 IS APPROXIMATE BUT WAS THE SAME DAY I PAID MY 1ST CAR PAYMENT.
FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 5,850 MILES NO PROBLEM. AFTER SECOND OIL CHANGE AT 11,948 MILES, VEHICLE BECAME UNDRIVABLE AS IT STUMBLES AND LOSES POWER BETWEEN 2,000-2,700 RPM. DEALER HAS REPEATED OIL CHANGE 3 ADDITIONAL TIMES AS THEY ARE NOT CERTAIN IF THEY MAY HAVE OVERFILLED THE ENGINE (KNOWN SUBARU ISSUE). THEY HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE EXHAUST, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AIR FILTER, INTAKE SYSTEM, AND TRANSMISSION, ALL TO NO AVAIL. DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND GROUNDING THE CABLES TO DISCHARGE ALL CAPACITORS PROVIDED TEMPORARY RELIEF, BUT THE PROBLEM RETURNED WITHIN 36 HOURS AND 200 MILES. NOW ENTERING 3 WEEKS AND 600 MILES OF TROUBLESHOOTING AND TEST DRIVING BY THE DEALER, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS STILL UNSAFE AND UNDRIVABLE, AS 2000-2700 RPM IS THE HEART OF THE POWER BAND THAT IS ALWAYS USED WHEN DRIVING.
One morning when I got my car from the garage, it had a cracked windshield near the driver size bottom glass. Happened overnight while in the garage. Took it to Subaru and they agreed to replace it under warranty. They put in a new one, and as I was driving on the freeway, I heard a huge boom sound from the windshield, which startled me! They another boom/cracking sound. The windshield didn't crack, but it was terrifying. I took it back to Subaru and they checked it and did something to help with the seal. A few months later, the windshield cracked from the passenger side edge. Within minutes of driving, it spread half way across the windshield. Nothing had hit my windshield. I am on my 3rd windshield, by the way. There is a problem.
WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWO TIMES IN THE 3 MONTHS I'VE OWN THE CAR. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY A TINY STONE HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND IT RAN ALL THE ACROSS IMMEDIATELY. I HAD IT REPLACED AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. JUST NOT NORMAL.
WE WERE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR. THE PASSENGER SLAPPED AT A MOSQUITO WITH HIS OPEN HAND AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITH A LOUD SOUND AND WITH A SPIDER WEB PATTERN ON IMPACT THE PASSENGER'S HAND WAS NOT RED, DID NOT HURT, AND DID NOT DEVELOP A BRUISE. THIS WAS HIGH IN THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER AND THE CRACKS ARE SPREADING ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. THE CAR IS A 2019 SUBARU AND HAS LESS THAN 9000 MILES ON. IT WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2018 AND WAS NOT DRIVEN DURING THE WINTER MONTHS THE WINDSHIELD WAS FREE OF ANY DINGS OR SCRATCHES. THIS IS BEING REPORTED BECAUSE OF OUR CONCERN THAT IF A SIMPLE SLAP ON THE INSIDE CAN BREAK THE WINDSHIELD, A ROCK THROWN BY ANOTHER VEHICLE COULD COME THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND HIT A PERSON. WE HAVE A WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT GUARANTEE SO THE WINDSHIELD WILL BE REPLACED AT NO COST, BUT WE ARE NOT COMFORTABLE HAVING IT REPLACED WITH AN ORIGINAL SUBARU WINDSHIELD. I HAVE PICTURES BUT I CANNOT GET THEM TO DOWNLOAD TO THIS SITE.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH NO ONE AROUND AT 7 AM ON SUNDAY AT 75 MPH THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. OUR SUN SHADE WAS CLOSED SO ALL GLASS WAS BLOWN ACROSS ROOF TAKING PAINT WITH IT. SUBARU REPLACED UNDER GOODWILL NOT WARRANTY.
AFTER OWNING 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK FOR 6 MONTHS, WASHING IT I FOUND 6 TO 7 CHIPS SCATTERED AROUND THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED DUE TO LIVING IN FLORIDA, NOT WANTING TO TAKE ANY CHANCES. I DRIVING VEHICLES FOR MORE THAN 45 YEARS, I DON'T THINK THAT I HAD 6 CHIPS ON ALL THE VEHICLES COMBINED. I BELIEVE THAT SUBARU HAS INFERIOR QUALITY WINDSHIELD GLASS.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40-45 MPH THE WINDSHIELD EXPERIENCED ANOTHER CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUBARU LITTLE ROCK, AR LOCATED AT 12121 COLONEL GLENN RD, LITTLE ROCK, AR 72210, TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
CAR WAS PARKED IN COVERED CAR PORT OVERNIGHT. IN MORNING, A HORIZONTAL CRACK HAD APPEARED IN FRONT WINDSHIELD. CRACK IS 18-24 INCHES LONG. RUNNING FROM PASSENGER SIDE PILLAR TO AREA NEAR CENTER OF WINDSHIELD. ABOUT 18 INCHES UP FROM DASH
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN MARCH 2019, SINCE OWNING VEHICLE MY MILES PER GALLON HAS BEEN OFF RANGING FROM 6 MILES TO 99 MILES PER GALLON AND THE SUBARU DEALER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS. ALSO, WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, YOU HAVE TO APPLY THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO STOP. THE VEHICLE HAS A SOFT PEDAL AND A BURNT SMELL IN THE ENGINE.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUS CRACK UNDER WIPER DEICER CONNECTION VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY
SUBARU WINDSHIELD EASILY CRACKS. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, A CRACK FORMED BEGINNING AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND SPREAD DOWN. SINCE REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD WITH AN OEM PART, 3 MORE LARGE CRACKS HAVE FORMED. WHILE SOME HAVE BEGUN FROM A SMALL ROCK CHIP, THEY ORIGINATE FROM THE EDGE OF THE GLASS AND SPREAD INWARD. THE GLASS APPEARS WEAK AS EVEN THE SMALLEST CHIP WILL CAUSE A LARGE CRACK. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN ANY DIFFERENTLY FROM CURRENT AND PREVIOUS VEHICLES OWNED YET THE AMOUNT OF CHIPS AND CRACKS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED IN THE WINDSHIELD IN THE LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE EXCEEDS THE AMOUNT OF CHIPS AND CRACKS WE'VE HAD IN THE LIFETIME OF OUR OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
I AM SUBMITTING A FORMAL COMPLAINT REGARDING THE SUBARU WINDSHIELD CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I AM THE FLEET MANAGER OF A LARGE COMPANY. WE RECENTLY PURCHASED ABOUT 30 2019-2020 SUBARU VEHICLES INCLUDING THE OUTBACK, FORESTER AND LEGACY. APPROXIMATELY, 1/3 OF THEM EXPERIENCED A RANDOM WINDSHIELD BREAK. ALL OF THEM HAVE BEEN REPLACED. 3 OF THOSE REPLACED, CRACKED AGAIN. I'VE RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE FROM SUBARU AND MY DRIVERS RECEIVE NO WARRANTY ASSISTANCE FROM THE DEALERSHIPS. I'D LIKE TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE GROWING LIST OF OTHER COMPLAINTS. I UNDERSTAND THE LAWSUIT COULD TAKE SOME TIME BEFORE A FINAL DECISION, I WANT TO MAKE SURE OUR VEHICLES ARE INCLUDED. THANK YOU
SPONTANEOUS WINDSHIELD CRACK THAT ORIGINATED DIRECTING UNDERNEATH WINDSHIELD WIPER ON PASSENGER SIDE WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE. WINDSHIELD WAS CLEANED HOURS BEFORE CRACK APPEARED, AND NO IMPERFECTIONS WERE OBSERVED; VEHICLE NOT DRIVEN OR MOVED. GOT IN VEHICLE IN EVENING AND CRACK WAS PRESENT EXPANDING ALMOST THE ENTIRE SIDE OF PASSENGER VIEW.
THE CERTIFIED SUBARU WINDSHIELDS ARE TOO THIN. THEY BREAK WITH LITTLE TO NO IMPACT. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE TWO SO FAR WITH ONLY 3400 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. HAVE I MENTIONED HOW EXPENSIVE THESE WINDSHIELDS ARE TO REPLACE, UPWARDS OF $1600. I KNOW SUBARU HAD A PREVIOUS GLASS RECALL, BUT SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK, INTO THE 2019 WINDSHIELDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON THE MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED AND OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BEARDMORE SUBARU (410 FORT CROOK RD N, BELLEVUE, NE 68005) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE BATTERY. THE CONTACT HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
PANEL ABOVE DRIVER PEDALS FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THE GAS OR BREAK PEDAL. THE PANEL WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AND MISSING HOLDING CLIPS AND SCREWS.
FRONT WINDSHIELD SUSTAINED A SMALL CHIP IN THE UPPER AREA BEHIND THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND HAS SUBSEQUENTLY TURNED INTO A HUGE CRACK EXTENDING ACROSS AND DOWN THE PASSENGER SIDE. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THE 15-16 OUTBACKS REGARDING THE WINDSHIELD. THE FACT THAT THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKING THIS EASILY FROM A SMALL CHIP LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUES FROM THE PREVIOUS 15-16 MODEL YEAR WINDSHIELD DESIGN.
BOUGHT JULY 6 @SUBARU OF PORT RICHEY FOUND IT HAD 1 UNREPAIRED RECALL ON IT, SUBARU WUH93 NHTSA'S #19V493000, DAYS AFTER I HAD TAKEN POSSESSION. THEY SOLD ME AS NEW A CAR WITH A RECALL GIVING ME KEYS AND SENDING ME HOME. SUBARU HAS CONFIRMED ALL DEALERS WERE NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL WUH93. HAVE ALL DOCUMENTS AND COPIOUS E-MAILS, TO UPHOLD MY CLAIM. I WANT THEM TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR BREAKING U.S.C 49 - 30112(A)(3). C.F.R.301120(I) AND SELLING, AND DELIVERING (KEYS) A VEHICLES TO AN ELDERLY COUPLE, WITH SAFETY RECALLS ON IT, TO DRIVE HOME,. AND THEN DAYS LATER NOTIFY ME OF THE RECALL.
PURCHASED NEW 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT AFTER JUST A COUPLE WEEKS A STRESS CRACK BEGAN TO FORM FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD GOING DOWN. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS OUTSIDE ON A HOT DAY AND THE CRACK BEGAN TO GET WORSE. NO IMPACT ON WINDSHIELD FROM ROCK OR ANYTHING ELSE. MAY BE CAUSED FROM HEAT? VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN BOTH CASES.
HAD TO HAVE MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED TWICE WITHIN TWO MONTHS ON A CAR LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. BOTH TIMES SUBARU AND THE GLASS COMPANY CLAIMED THAT THE CRACKS WERE DUE TO CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD WHEN THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OR DAMAGE, CHIPS, ETC PRIOR TO THE CRACKS. AFTER THE FIRST TIME MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED JULY 2019, I WAS VERY SKEPTICAL AND CHECKED MY WINDSHIELD EVERY NIGHT AFTER WORK TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO DAMAGE. ONE MORNING I WOKE UP TO FIND A LARGE CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD WITHOUT ANY PRIOR EVIDENCE OF CHIPS OR DAMAGE. ONCE AGAIN, THE GLASS COMPANY AND SUBARU CLAIMED IT WAS DUE TO A CHIP WHEN THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF SUCH FALSE CLAIMS. I ALSO HAD MY REPLACED WINDSHIELD CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AT A SUBARU SERVICE CENTER DURING OIL CHANGES AND SERVICE APPOINTMENTS. EACH TIME THEY FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF ANY DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE GLASS COMPANY THAT REPLACED MY WINDSHIELD BOTH TIMES TRIED TO COVER THEIR [XXX] BY CLAIMING WINDSHIELDS ARE MADE THINNER THAN THEY USED TO BE, WHICH I FOUND QUITE SUSPICIOUS AS IF THEY WERE TRYING TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR HAVING TWO WINDSHIELDS CRACKED WITHIN 2 MONTHS. FIRST TIME WAS IN JULY 2019 AND THE SECOND TIME WAS SEPTEMBER 2019. BOTH TIMES I WAS FORCED TO PAY A $500 DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND MY EYESIGHT CALIBRATED TO THE NEW WINDSHIELD AS A RESULT OF POOR QUALITY GLASS AND REPLACEMENTS. BOTH TIME THE CRACKS WERE DISCOVERED WAS WHEN MY CAR WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT WITHOUT ANY PRIOR EVIDENCE OF ANY WINDSHIELD DAMAGE. THEY WERE DISCOVERED IN THE MORNING WITH A LARGE CRACK WHICH CONTINUED TO GET LARGER THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND ENDED UP TAKING UP A LARGE FIELD OF VIEW. PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW MARCH 2019. I DEVELOPED A CRACK THAT STARTED AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD, CLOSER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE, THAT QUICKLY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WINDSHIELD 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING AND WITH LESS THAN 6K MILES. IT APPEARED TO BE FROM A SMALL STONE CHIP. THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS VERY MINIMAL AND I HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD MUCH LARGER CHIPS THAT HAVE 'SPIDERED' BUT NEVER SPREAD AS RAPIDLY AS THIS CRACK ON MY NEW OUTBACK. I WORKED WITH MY INSURANCE TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED, TOTAL COST WAS OVER $800. I DROVE THE CAR 4 TIMES IN 3 DAYS AFTER GETTING IT REPLACED, ALL ON PAVED ROADS. THIS MORNING I DEVELOPED A CRACK AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE THAT QUICKLY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WINDSHIELD AGAIN. THEIR APPEARS TO BE A SMALL SANDSTONE CHIP THAT MAY HAVE BEEN THE REASON FOR THE CRACK. I AM TAKING IT BACK TO THE PLACE THAT REPLACED IT AND HOPING IT'S COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY OF THE RECENT REPLACEMENT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BY SUBARU BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM.
ON FREEWAY - TRAFFIC MOVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH ON CORNER - THE CAR VEERED SHARPLY TOWARDS THE FREEWAY INSIDE WALL. NO CONTROL OF STEERING WHEN I TRIED TO GENTLY CORRECT - WHEN THE CAR FINALLY RESPONDED IT VEERED SHARPLY I TOT HE LANES TO MY RIGHT. THE STEERING WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A WEEK - IT IS BRAND NEW AND THE STEER ASSIST WAS ON. THE SUBARU OUTBACK 2019 STEERING WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL ON A CORNER GOING APPROX 45 MPH - DANGEROUS. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE STEERING. MY 1998 AND 2016 OUTBACKS DRIVE AND CORNERED EXCELLENT RLY - THE SUBARU OUTBACK 2019 HAS A SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS STEERING PROBLEM.
SMALL ROCK HIT LOWER LEFT CORNER OF WINDSHIELD, APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES FROM EDGE. CONTINUED DRIVING. SUDDENLY, ENTIRE WINDSHIELD CRACKED ACROSS APPROXIMATELY 70% OF GLASS WITHIN 5 MINUTES, OBSTRUCTING VIEW. INITIAL IMPACT WAS TINY CHIP, BARELY VISIBLE WITHOUT CLOSE INSPECTION. NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, HIGHWAY, 60MPH, DRY ROAD & WEATHER, BEFORE SUNRISE. SINGLE OWNER VEHICLE, 10K MILES. COMPLAINT ALSO FILED WITH SUBARU.
THE STEERING SEEMS TO FLOAT. YOU LOSE ROAD FEEL AND THE STEERING SEEMS TO CATCH. THERE IS ALSO A SINGLE BEEP HEARD WHEN THIS OCCURS.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CAME OUT OF MY HOME TO GET READY TO DRIVE WHEN I NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. IT BEGINS WITH A VERTICAL SPLIT OF THE GLASS WITH NO SIGN OF A POINT OF IMPACT FROM DEBRIS. CAUSE: UNKNOWN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THAT I HAD NOT BEEN DRIVING NOR HAD A ROCK HIT MY WINDSHIELD. THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD TAKE THEM A WEEK FOR THEM TO GET A REP AND SERVICE MANAGER TO INSPECT. THE CRACK HAD SINCE GROWN BY THE TIME THEY SAW THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY TO REPLACE THE WINDSHEILD.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED AT MY HOUSE WHEN I REALIZED THE BACK WINDSHIELD WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. IT WAS STILL IN PLACE BECAUSE OF THE TEMPERED GLASS. I OPENED THE DOOR TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE CAR AND THE WINDSHIELD FELL APART INTO MY CAR AND ON THE GROUND. UNDER 7000 MILES ON THE CAR.
RECENTLY PURCHASED 2019 SUBARU FROM A SIMILAR 2017. CRUISE CONTROL SPEED SETTINGS HAVE CHANGED WHICH NOW REQUIRE YOU TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD TO WATCH FOR SPEED SETTINGS TO CHANGE. ON THE 2017 AND ALL OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED, TO INCREASE YOUR SPEED SETTING BY ONE MPH, YOU PUSH ONCE AND RELEASE. TO INCREASE BY 5 MPH, PUSH AND HOLD UNTIL IT SENSES THE INCREASE. NOW.... A QUICK PUSH OF THE BUTTON RESULTS IN A 5 MPH INCREASE WHILE YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE BUTTON AND WATCH THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR AS IT SLOWLY INCREASES YOUR SETTING 1 MPH AT A TIME. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE YOUR EYES ARE NO LONGER ON THE ROAD BUT ON THE DASH AREA. EVERYTHING ELSE I OWN, THERMOSTATS, KEYBOARDS, TV REMOTES....ALL MOVE UP OR DOWN ONE DEGREEE OR CHANNEL AT A TIME UNLESS YOU HOLD THE KEY PRESS LONGER, THEN YOU GET A FASTER REPEAT. I FEEL THAT TAKING MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO WATCH MY SPEED SELECTION CHANGE IS AKIN TO TEXTING. DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS. THE DEALER FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE NEW VEHICLE RESPONDS BY SAYING.... "THINGS CHANGE, GET USED TO IT". I FIND THIS SITUATIION UNACCEPTABLE!
WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. FIRST CRACK OCCURRED 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE OF BRAND NEW VEHICLE. MULTIPLE CRACKS OCCURRED OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. LAST TWO SIGNIFICANT CRACKS OCCURRED WHILE CAR PARKED.
I WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEED AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO UNKNOWN REASONS. THIS HAPPENED SECOND TIME ON MY CAR WITHIN 12 MONTHS.
ENGINE DOES NOT BRAKE WHEN GOING DOWNHILL AS THE MANUAL SAYS IT SHOULD. MY PREVIOUS OUTBACKS (2006, 2011, 2017) DID HAVE ENGINE BRAKING. REGIONAL SERVICE OFFICE SUGGESTED I PLACE THE CAR IN CRUISE CONTROL IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE SPEED. CAR PICKS UP SPEED QUICKLY, SO USING THE BRAKE PEDAL IS THE BEST OPTION. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS NO ENGINE BRAKING WHEN THERE SHOULD BE AT LEAST SOME. THIS IS DANGEROUS ON ANY HILL. SECOND, STEERING IS PROBLEMATIC. FIRST, THERE IS TO MUCH PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. SECOND, WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL, THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF ITS OWN, ESPECIALLY ON CURVES. I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO WORK AT CONTROLLING THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S VERY TIRING. THE THIRD ISSUE IS IN REGARD TO THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM SHOWING INACCURATE SPEED LIMITS. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN REPORTED AS EARLY AS FEBRUARY 2019. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE MAY 31, 2019.
