WINDSHIELD CRACK. VEHICLE ONLY HAD 3500 MILES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A WINDSHIELD CRACK WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE!! I GOT IN THE CAR AND NOTICED BY THE DRIVER SIDE AN UPSIDE DOWN "L".
I PURCHASED 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK LAST YEAR DECEMBER. IT IS JUST LESS THAN A YEAR. RECENTLY, WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING FREEWAY TO WORK. I TRIED TO FIND WHY IT WAS HAPPENED BUT I COULD NOT FIND APPARENT REASON. SUBARU DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY.
WE DISCOVERED A CRACK IN OUR SUBARU OUTBACK WINDSHIELD. THERE IS NO SIGN OF A CHIP FROM A ROCK HITTING THE WINDSHIELD, JUST A CRACK. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 4,00 MILES ON IT. THE OUTBACK WAS IN THE GARAGE WHEN DISCOVERED. WE HAD IT REPAIRED ON OCTOBER 28 2020. WHILE GATHERING INFORMATION ABOUT THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD I CAME ACROSS SEVERAL SITES DISCUSSING SUBARU CRACKED WINDSHIELDS AND A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST SUBARU FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM.
SPONTANEOUS WINDSHIELD CRACK WHILE DRIVING
CAR WINDSHIELD HAD ICE OBSCURING PART OF THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM ON STARTUP. WARNING INDICATORS LIT UP INFORMING ME THAT THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM WAS DISABLED. CONCURRENT WITH THIS FAULT, THE FAILURE OF THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO RELEASE THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE SNOW.
THE BATTERY IS NEARLY ALWAYS DEAD AT STARTUP AND I HAVE TO JUMP IT WITH A BATTERY STARTER. THE DEALER HAD SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, YET I HAVE TO JUMP THE CAR IN GROCERY STORE PARKING LOTS. THE CAR ONLY HAS 5300 MILES ON IT, AS WE DON'T DRIVE THAT MUCH.
I JUST PURCHASED A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK LTD AND WHILE DRIVING THE ENTIRE INFOCENTER WENT BLANK, AND ALL SAFETY FEATURES WAS DISENGAGED. THE SCREEN REMAINED BLANK FOR APPROX 10 SECONDS BEFORE REBOOTING. I CALLED SUABRU AMERICA AND WAS INFORMNED THAT THERE IS A CLITCH IN THE PROGRAM THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO FIX UNSUCCESSFULLY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR DUE TO ITS SAFETY FEATURES. SHOULDN'T I HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THIS POTENTIAL COMPUTER CRASH THAT AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS, WHICH INCLUDES MY 85 YEAR OLD MOTHER?
THE FIRST ISSUE I NOTICE WAS BACK IN MAY, MY SUBARU ALMOST CAME TO A FULL COMPLETE BEFORE IT LEAP FROGGED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, CAUSING ME TO REARED END THE CAR. THEN TODAY OCTOBER 11. I GOT INTO MY CAR, REMOVED MY WINDSHIELD SUNSHADE FROM MY CAR AT AROUND NOON. I HEARD A LOUD GLASS LIKE CRACK. I THEN SAW A HUGE CRACK FROM WHERE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS AND A LINE FROM TO TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD TO THE BOTTOM. JUST LIKE THAT. ITS 8 MONTHS OLD SUBARU WITH 5000 MILES ON IT.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT, WHILE IN PARK POSITION IN A PARKING LOT. THE CRACK IS IN A "U" SHAPE WITH THE TOP OF THE U AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE DRIVING
I HAVE HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH MY BATTERY DYING. IT STARTED SLOWLY, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC, I DIDN'T DRIVE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. WHEN THE SERVICE GUY CAME OUT TO JUMP IT, HE SAID THAT I SHOULD CAN DRIVE IT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. I'VE BEEN DOING THAT AND I'D ONLY OCCASIONALLY HAD TO JUMP IT. NOW WITH 10 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP AND UNDER 6,000 MILES, I HAVE TO JUMP IT EVERY DAY. WHEN I TOOK IT IN, DEALERSHIP SAID BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WERE FINE. IF BATTERY IS FINE, MUST BE ELECTRICAL. EITHER WAY, VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS DEFECT IN MY NEW CAR.
SUBARU WINDSHIELD CONTINUES TO CRACK UNDER SUSPECT CONDITIONS. I AM NOW ON MY THIRD WINDSHIELD IN THE FIRST 5,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP. THE FIRST WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND. THE SECOND WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN A MINISCULE ROCK HIT IT WHILE DRIVING. IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE SUCH WEAK GLASS IN A MODERN CAR. THERE IS NO REASON THAT WINDSHIELDS SHOULD BE CRACKING THIS FREQUENTLY.
LOW BEAMS NEED TO BE ADJUSTED, AS THEY ARE TOO BRIGHT FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I GET FLASHED AT NIGHT MULTIPLE TIMES, EVEN BY TRUCKERS WHO SIT HIGHER IN THEIR VEHICLES. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT IMPAIRS THE VISION OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AS WELL AS HAD DRIVERS HAVE ROAD RAGE TOWARDS ME, BY THEM SHINING THEIR HIGH BEAMS AT ME.
WHILE DRIVING ON ROUTE 76 IN AKRON OHIO, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED.WE HEARD A LOUD SOUND--LIKE A GUN SHOT--BUT NO EVIDENCE OF THE WINDOW BEING HIT BY A PROJECTILE. THE CRACK RUNS FROM BELOW THE WIPER BLADE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FOR APPROXIMATELY 19 INCHES TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING THROUGH A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGE BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO DOWNLOAD TO THE SITE.
CAR IN GARAGE OVERNIGHT AND ALL DAY. WENT TO START CAR AND BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. NO LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY. NO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD
BATTERY WAS REPLACED AFTER 5,549 MILES. VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 4-5 DAYS PRIOR TO 07/08/2020 AND NEED TO BE JUMPED DEALER COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS AGAIN PARKED FOR 4-5 DAYS PRIOR TO 10/09/2020 AGAIN THE BATTERY WAS DEAD & WAS UNABLE TO USE FOB TO UNLOCK CAR ETC, JUMPED STARTED CONTACTED SUBARU ABOUT PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE, A CRACK HAD FORMED FROM THE LOWER LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD AND SPREAD ACROSS TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF AN IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD TO CAUSE THE CRACK. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE WINDSHIELD GLASS WAS POORLY MANUFACTURED AND THAT THE CRACK COULD OBSTRUCT HIS VISION WHILE DRIVING. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 969.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. NEITHER THE LOCAL DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,265. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAME OUTSIDE TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE AND SAW THAT WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. HAD NOT DRIVEN IT THE PREVIOUS DAY, THE NEAREST HOUSE IS OVER AN ACRE AWAY. WE HAVE NO CHILDREN. NO IDEA WHY IT WOULD CRACK BECAUSE WE WEREN'T DRIVING IT AND THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND TO DAMAGE IT AND IT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR OVER 36 HOURS.
The contact owns a 2020 Subaru Outback. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the contact heard a minor ding on the windshield. The ding was a small pebble that hit the windshield which caused a crack to form from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side of the windshield. The crack obstructed his vision while driving. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the windshield was replaced out of pocket. Eight months later, the same failure occurred again while driving, at the exact spot on the replacement windshield. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied knowing any information about failures with windshields in similar vehicles. The contact also stated that several electrical failures had occurred in the vehicle such as the infotainment screen and eyesight system not operating as designed. The contact made an appointment with the same dealer however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
I WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALER BECAUSE I HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF A LOW BATTERY. I STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT IN A BUSY INTERSECTION, AND THE AUTO STOP-START SYSTEM SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE DID NOT RESTART. I WAS LEFT WITH NO POWER, IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION, WITH CARS AND TRUCKS HAVING TO SWERVE AROUND ME. I RECEIVED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO JUMP-START THE VEHICLE AND THEY DROVE IT TO THE DEALER. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THE BATTERY HAD COMPLETELY FAILED AND WILL BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. WE DON'T YET KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE BATTERY FAILURE.
MY 2020 SUBARU IS 9 MONTHS OLD AND THIS WILL BE THE 2ND WINDSHIELD I WILL BE REPLACING IN THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR WAS IN MOTION BUT NOT STRUCK BY DEBRIS. THE SECOND TIME THERE WAS DEBRIS THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND THE CRACK MOVED QUICKLY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD WITHOUT STOPPING. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT ABOUT THE FAULTY WINDSHIELDS WITH MANY SUBARU OWNERS INVOLVED AND RECENTLY THE SUIT WAS DISMISSED BY THE COURT. I UNDERSTAND OUTBACKS AND FORESTERS HAVE DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS GOING BACK AS FAR AS 2016 AND SUBARU HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE WINDSHIELD IS THINNER THAN MOST TO ACCOMMODATE THE SENSORS. THE COST TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD IS $900+ EACH TIME DUE TO THE NEED FOR ONLY A SUBARU WINDSHIELD AND THE CALIBRATION OF THE SENSORS NEEDED.
THIS IS NOT AGAINST SUBARU IT IS AGAINST DOHCLO COMPANY. I PURCHASED AN AFTER MARKET SEATBELT EXTENDER. IT IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT SECURE THE SEATBELT TO RESTRAINT YOU IN AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD RESULT IN EJECTION FROM THE VEHICLE DURING AN ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO ASSIST. I WORRY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT MAY USE THE ITEM WITHOUT CHECKING THAT IT IS SECURED PROPERLY. I FEEL THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE STARTED. I HAVE PHOTOS, THE PRODUCT AND COPIES OF ALL MY EMAILS REGARDING THIS.*DT*DT*AS*DT *TR*DT
CRACKED WINDSHIELD WHICH WE HAD REPAIRED ON 10/1/2020 FOR $821.71. CRACK APPEARED SEEMINGLY FROM NOWHERE ON THE MORNING OF 9/22/20.
A CRACK DEVELOPED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FOR NO KNOWN REASON. OVER THE A SINGLE DAY IT HAD INCREASED TO A CRACK RUNNING ALL THE WAY FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW TO THE TOP. THE CRACK WAS FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THEN INCREASED TO COVER THE HEIGHT OF THE WINDOW WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING ON A SMOOTH ROAD.
GOT INTO MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED A LARGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. IT HAD BEEN SITTING UNUSED PARKED IN FRONT OF OUR HOME WHEN I NOTICED THE CRACK. IT WASN'T AFTER A COLLISION OR FROM SOMETHING HITTING IT WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
WINDSHIELD CRACK
MY 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK IS EQUIPPED WITH THE AUTO-START-STOP FEATURE. FROM THE BEGINNING THIS FEATURE WOULD ROUTINELY NOT FUNCTION, DISPLAYING THE ICON INDICATING AUTO START STOP WAS DISENGAGED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO UTILIZE THIS FEATURE I LEARN TWO MORE DELIBERATELY HOLD DOWN FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I COULD ENGAGE THIS FEATURE AT TIMES. NINE TIMES OUT OF 10 THE AUTO START STOP FEATURE DOES NOT ENGAGE WHEN I STOP IN DRIVE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR AT A STOP SIGN. VERY OFTEN, THE FEATURE TURNS OFF MY ENGINE AND IMMEDIATELY RESTARTS WITH A RUMBLING OF THE ENGINE AND AN ABRUPT KICK TO THE STEERING WHEEL. EVEN WHEN THE FEATURE ENGAGES AND SHUTS OFF THE ENGINE AS EXPECTED, THE DURATION OF STOP MODE IS A LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 20 SECONDS WHICH DEFEATS THE ORIGINAL INTENDED PURPOSE OF FUEL CONSUMPTION AND EMISSIONS REDUCTION. OCCASIONALLY AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, SUCH AS WHEN WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE FEATURE DOES NOT ENGAGE AT FIRST STOP AND AFTER INCHING FORWARD AND READY TO MAKE THE TURN THIS FEATURE WELL ABRUPTLY STALL THE ENGINE AND STRAND ME MOMENTARILY IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
MY OUTBACK WAS 2 MONTHS OLD WITH ~7900 MILES ON IT WHEN IT FAILED TO START DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY. I HAD LAST DRIVEN THE CAR 2 DAYS PRIOR. I ATTEMPTED TO JUMP WITH MY OTHER CAR & COULD NOT. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS ABLE TO JUMP START THE CAR. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SAID IT WAS HIS 20TH SUBARU OF THE DAY! GIVEN THE CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AND THE ONGOING ISSUES OF UNDERSIZED BATTERIES, I ELECTED TO INSTALL A LARGER BATTERY IN THE CAR.
CLASSIC SUBARU WEAK WINDSHIELD GLASS ISSUE. WHILE TRAVELING ON A SMALL SIDE STREET ABOUT 40MPH, SOMETHING THAT WAS INAUDIBLE HIT MY FRONT GLASS LAST NIGHT WHILE GOING TO THE STORE. WE SAW WHAT APPEARED TO BE A VERY SMALL CHIP. ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE STORE THE SMALL CHIP TURNED INTO A STREAKING SPIDERWEB JUST FROM HITTING PAVEMENT DIVISIONS ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 600 MILES ON IT. THE SUBARU SALESMEN WERE VERY PUSHY ABOUT BUYING THEIR DING, DENT, GLASS PROTECTION STATING THAT THEY KNOW THE GLASS IS ABOUT 900 DOLLARS TO FIX. I THINK THEY KNOW THE GLASS IS WEAK. NOW I AM OUT THE COSTS OF A WINDSHIELD PLUS THE TINT TO HAVE IT RE-TINTED. SO WE ARE TALKING WELL OVER 1K IF I HAVE THE DEALERSHIP INSTALL THE GLASS AND RE-CALIBRATE THE EYESIGHT PROGRAM TO THE WINDSHIELD.
OUR WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND THE CRACK RAN IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. I EXPECT A BROKEN WINDSHIELD FROM TIME TO TIME BUT THIS SEEMED VERY ABNORMAL. THE WINDSHIELD WAS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD AND THE SMALL CHIP OCCURRED AFTER A TINY, TINY ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THIS WAS WEIRD BECAUSE AFTER YEARS OF DRIVING IN COLORADO SMALL DEBRI HIT OUR WINDOWS ALL THE TIME BUT NEVER CAUSE ANY DAMAGE. THEN THE CHIP RAN ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE WINDOW IN A MATTER OF HOURS. IT WASN'T EVEN COLD OR HOT, IT JUST FREAKISHLY RAN ACROSS THE WINDOW. SOMETHING JUST DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT FOR A NEW WINDOW TO FRACTURE LIKE THIS SO QUICKLY.

THE CONTACT HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED TWICE AND THAT THE SAME CRACK HAD FORMED AFTER EACH REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK SPREAD ONTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND OBSTRUCTED HER VISION WHILE DRIVING. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2020 OUTBACK ONYX XT IN FALL 2019. IT GENERALLY HAD NO ISSUES AND RAN FINE WITH NORMAL DRIVING (EG DRIVING TO WORK AND ERRANDS EVERY DAY OR TWO). FALL OF 2020 (CAR AROUND 10,000 MILES) THE CAR RANDOMLY WAS FULLY DEAD (COULDN'T UNLOCK DOORS OR START THE ENGINE) ONE MORNING AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVEN NORMALLY ONE OR TWO DAYS BEFORE. I JUMP STARTED THE CAR, DROVE IT FOR AN HOUR, AND THE BATTERY SEEMINGLY DID NOT CHARGE - THE CAR DIED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND IT COULD NOT BE LOCKED/UNLOCKED/STARTED/ETC. THE CAR WAS JUMP STARTED AGAIN AND BROUGHT TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A FAULTY BATTERY UNIT WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR THEN WORKED NORMALLY UNTIL EARLY 2021, WHEN THE ISSUE REPEATED ITSELF - FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE CAR DIED, AFTER HAVING WORKED FINE THE DAY OR TWO BEFORE (I.E. IT WASN'T LEFT UNDRIVEN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME). IT WAS JUMP STARTED, BROUGHT INTO THE DEALER, AND SAME DIAGNOSIS/FIX - BATTERY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. ONE WEEK LATER, THE ISSUE REPEATED ITSELF. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN AND THE DEALER DID MORE DIAGNOSES AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS AN INTERIOR LIGHT SWITCH THAT WAS IN AN ON POSITION (ALTHOUGH THE LIGHT ITSELF WAS OFF) - THEY TRIED TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE WITH LEAVING THE LIGHT ON CAUSING THE CAR TO DIE OVERNIGHT. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY AGAIN UNDER WARRANTY. MOST RECENTLY, AROUND ONE WEEK LATER - MARCH 1 2021 - THIS ISSUE REPEATED FOR A FOURTH TIME. I WAS SPECIFICALLY CAREFUL THAT NO LIGHT SWITCHES WERE EVER LEFT ON AND THE CAR HAD WORKED FINE THE DAY PRIOR TO IT HAVING BEEN UNABLE TO START, AND AM AWAITING INSTRUCTIONS FROM SUBARU FOR NEXT STEPS. CLEARLY IT IS NOT SIMPLY A "BAD BATTERY" AS THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE CAR (WHICH IS UNDER WARRANTY) AND MAKE IT USEABLE FOR NORMAL DRIVING.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED OVERNIGHT WHILE NOT IN USE WITHIN 6 WEEKS OF PURCHASING NEW 2020 OUTBACK. CRACK HAS PROGRESSED TO SPAN ENTIRE WINDSHIELD.
I HAVE OWNED MY 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK FOR ONLY 2 MONTHS. MY CAR WILL NOW NOT START. AFTER JUMPING THE VEHICLE/ CHARGING THE BATTERY, IT WILL START AGAIN AND THEN SHUT BACK OFF. THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT IS CAUSING MY BATTERY TO DRAIN VERY RAPIDLY. CHANGING THE BATTERY DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. FIXING THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE IS THE ONLY SOLUTION. SUBARU HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH OUTBACKS AND ASCENTS FROM 2017 TO 2020 AND NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL.
WAS DRIVING SUBARU OUTBACK, CAME TO A RED LIGHT AND CAR STOPPED AS IT'S DESIGNED TO DO. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, CAR STALLED AND NEVER STARTED AGAIN LEAVING ME ON A 3 LANE HIGHWAY CALLED ROUTE 19 IN HUDSON FLORIDA.
DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD, MADE A STOP AT A LIGHT. WHEN I GOT THE GREEN ARROW TO TURN LEFT, CAR JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. WAS FORTUNATE, 4 GOOD INDIVIDUALS JUMPED OUT OF THEIR VEHICLES TO PUSH US OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AND AVOID COLLISION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CALLED SUBARU FOR A TOW. DURING THE 2 HOUR WAIT, TRIED TO START A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH NO LUCK. WHEN TOW TRUCK ARRIVED, WAS TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, SO ATTEMPTED TO START AGAIN, WHICH IT DID. DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO DEALERSHIP. STAYED THERE FOR 2 AND A HALF WEEKS. THEY REPLACED FUEL PUMP, WHICH IN MY MIND, MAY NOT BE AT THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. MY THOUGHTS ARE THAT SOMETHING OVERHEATED, POSSIBLY A CIRCUIT OR SOFTWARE THAT CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION. IT WAS A 95 DEGREE DAY, THE CAR HAD BEEN IDLING FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES IN A STORE PARKING LOT RIGHT BEFORE THE SHUTDOWN. IN TALKING WITH SUBARU, THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME ROOT CAUSE ONCE THEY DO FURTHER ANALYSIS ON THE PROBLEM. I FEEL AT GREAT RISK THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME GOING FORWARD, (IE ON THE INTERSTATE, AT AN INTERSECTION, ETC). I'M HOPING THAT LOGGING THIS INCIDENT WILL HELP OTHER OUTBACK OWNERS KNOW OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER THEY MAY BE IN.
SITTING STATIONARY IN THE DRIVEWAY, A LARGE CRACK SPONTANEOUSLY BEGAN AND EXTENDED ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE DAMAGE AND CIRCUMSTANCES ARE CONSISTENT WITH CURRENT CLASS ACTION LEGAL FILINGS FROM MANY, MANY VEHICLE OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES WITH RECENT SUBARU WINDSHIELDS.

THE CONTACT WAITED THIRTY SECONDS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE STARTED TO SHAKE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO REYNOLDS' SUBARU (268 HAMBURG RD, LYME, CT 06371) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT NATIONAL SUBARU INFORMED THEM TO RETURN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE DIS NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE TRANSPORTED HER GRANDCHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS AND A DAY STILL UNREPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE NUMBER WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,950.
I HAVE LESS THAN 100 MILES ON MY 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK AND AM HAVING SERIOUS BATTERY ISSUES. I HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE ON A FRIDAY AND THEN WENT TO START IT ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I CALLED OUT THE SUBARU STARLINK ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET THE BATTERY JUMP-STARTED, WHICH THEY DID AND I LET THE CAR RUN FOR AN ADDITIONAL TEN OR SO MINUTES TO HELP IT TO CONTINUE RECHARGING. THAT EVENING I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE TO PARK IN THE GARAGE FOR THE EVENING AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD, AGAIN. I NEED TO GET THE BATTERY RESTARTED, AGAIN, BUT I AM WORRIED THAT THIS WILL CONTINUE HAPPENING (CHRONIC). DO I TAKE IT 50 MILES TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, ONLY TO HAVE THE REPLACEMENT BATTERY DO THE SAME THING? OR DO I REPLACE THE BATTERY WITH ANOTHER VENDOR?
THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE CRACK WAS NOTICED AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN STATIONARY FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS.
I PURCHASED MY 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK YESTERDAY, 8/24/2020, FROM MAITA SUBARU IN SACRAMENTO CA. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY LATER THAT AFTERNOON, AN VERY SMALL OBJECT FLEW UP FROM THE ROAD CRACK THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK HAS GROWN ABOUT 2X IN SIZE IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS AND THE REPAIR BILL IS ESTIMATED TO BE $880. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW CAR.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, OUR WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE EXPERIENCED A "BULLSEYE" DEFECT WITHOUT ANY SOUND OF A PROJECTILE HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. WHILE CONTINUING TO DRIVE WITHIN 10 MINUTES, THIS DEFECT THEN "CRACKED" FURTHER EXTENDING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS COVERING ROUGHLY A 15 INCH SPAN. OUR DEALER, NORTH COUNTRY IMPORTS, 616 QUAKER ROAD, QUEENSBURY, NY, WAS CONTACTED. THEY STATED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY HISTORY OF THE 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK HAVING A WINDSHIELD ISSUE. ONLINE WE WERE ABLE TO FIND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS. WE PURCHASED THE CAR 2 WEEKS PRIOR THIS INCIDENT. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE WE WERE NOT TOLD OF ANY POTENTIAL ISSUES WITH THE WINDSHIELD AND WERE NOT ASKED TO SIGN ANY WAIVER CONCERNING THE LAWSUIT. ALTHOUGH THE DEALER HAS COVERAGE FOR WINDSHIELD REPAIR, "SUBARU EQUITY SHIELD OPTIMUM VEHICLE PROTECTION", WE WERE NOT OFFERED THIS PROTECTION AT THE TIME OF SALE. WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALER WE WERE DEALT WITH IN A HOSTILE MANNER BY THE MANAGER WHO WOULD NOT DISCLOSE HIS NAME BEFORE HANGING UP ON US. PRIOR TO TERMINATING THE CALL HE REITERATED THAT HE WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY KNOWN DEFECT IN THE WINDSHIELDS AND REFERRED US TO OUR INSURANCE COMPANY.

UPON RETRIEVING HIS MAIL, THE CONTACT TURNED AROUND TO ENTER HIS VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS GONE. UPON LOOKING FOR HIS VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD INDEPENDENTLY DRIVEN 280 FEET AND HAD COLLIDED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED BUT NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED DUE TO THE ACCIDENT HAPPENING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE. DUE TO THE ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAVE YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 294.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED BY DRIVES SIDE FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SATELLITE SHOP TO REPAIR THE APPROXIMATELY 1 INCH CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD AFTER REPAIR DROVE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES AND CRACK EXTENDED APPROXIMATELY 5 INCHES. SINCE SATURDAY AUGUST 22 WITH VEHICLE STATIONARY ON RESIDENCE DRIVEWAY THE CRACK HAS EXTENDED PAST THE CENTER OF THE VEHICLE IN ONE DIRECTION AND THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. *LN *DL
ON APPROX. 8/22/20 I RECEIVED AN EMAIL OR TEXT FROM SUBARU OR STARLINK, I DON'T REMEMBER, ABOUT A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I TRIED TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE BUT THE PROCESS WOULDN'T COMPLETE FOR SOME REASON. WITHIN A FEW HOURS I RECEIVED ANOTHER EMAIL SAYING TO DISREGARD THE PREVIOUS ONE AND THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE UPDATE. THE ISSUE LEFT ME WITHOUT ANY DISPLAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND HAD TO HAVE THE WHOLE RADIO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY.
A TINY ROCK CHIP TURNED INTO A LARGE CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. THE CHIP HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ANY HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT WAS VERY MINOR. WHILE DRIVING THE SAME DAYS, SAME TRIP A LARGE CRACK DEVELOPED WITH THE FOLLOWING HOUR AND CONTINUES TO GROW. ALL WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS NEWER CAR WITH ONLY 11K MILES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A TINY CHIP ON WINDSHIELD END UP BEING A HUGE CRACK THAT KEEPS GROWING ALL WITHIN A FEW HOURS OF DRIVING ON THE SAME DAY/TRIP.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN MY NEW 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH ABOUT 2200 MILES ON A FRESHLY SLURRY-COATED ROAD I SAW A SMALL PEBBLE SIZED OBJECT TOSSED IN THE AIR BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND LAND JUST INSIDE THE EDGE OF THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS A SHARP POP - LIKE A .22 - AND A 4 INCH CRACK APPEARED. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME AND THE CRACK APPEARED TO BE STABLE. I PARKED THE CAR AND GOT SOME REST. 9 HOURS LATER I WENT OUTSIDE AND FOUND THE CRACK HAD PROGRESSED TO THE CENTER OF MY WINDSHIELD. WHEN I CAME UPON THIS SITE I DECIDED TO DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT IN AN EFFORT TO WARN OTHERS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND SUBARU SHOULD BE TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE REAR LIFTGATE. *LD THE CONSUMER INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATED THE REAR LIFTGATE BECOMING TRAPPED BETWEEN THE LIFTGATE AND GARAGE DOOR UNTIL IT REACHED IT'S MAXIMUM OPEN CAPABILITY. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED TWO CUTS BEHIND THE RIGHT EAR, SEVERE BRUISING AND SCRAPING ON THE ARM, NECK AND HEAD. *JS
