WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH THE WINDSCREEN CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. AN OBJECT DID NOT HIT THE WINDSCREEN. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE WINDSCREEN AT SAFELITE WITH AN OEM SUBARU WINDSCREEN AND RECALIBRATED THE ADVANCED DRIVER SAFETY SYSTEM COSTING MORE THAN $1,000. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL REPORTS OF FAULTS IN SUBARU OUTBACK 2020 WINDSCREENS WITH A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I WANT TO REPORT MY EXPERIENCE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM TRONCALLI SUBARU (820 ATLANTA RD, CUMMING, GA 30040) THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CRACKING SOUND COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD. UPON DISCOVERY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT A CRACK HAD FORMED ON THE EDGE OF THE MIDDLE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. OVERNIGHT, THE CRACK SPREAD HALFWAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK OBSTRUCTED HIS VISION WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT THE SAME DEALER BY HIS INSURANCE PROVIDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT DURING THE INCIDENT NO OBJECT HAD STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK WAS LOCATED AT ON THE LOWER CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND HAD EXPANDED TO APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET LONG. THE LOCAL DEALER DEAN TEAM SUBARU LOCATED AT 15121 MANCHESTER RD, BALLWIN, MO 63011 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. INVALID VIN.
I WAS ON A FOUR LANE ROAD (UNIVERSITY AVENUE IN EVANSVILLE, IN - NORTHBOUND) AND MY WINDSHIELD JUST POPPED AND CRACK ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK THIS MORNING. I WAS MORE THAN 10 CAR LENGTHS FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD OR ANYTHING COME FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME.
THE BATTERY SUDDENLY DRAINED. THIS HAPPENED A FEW DAYS AFTER I HAD A TRIP OF OVER 750 MILES. I DID A JUMP START AND THEN DROVE THE CAR FOR OVER 20 MINUTES. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME THING. TOOK IT TO SUBARU SERVICE, THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM JUST CHARGED IT. THE NEXT TIME AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME SUBARU SERVICE KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND THEN CHANGED THE BATTERY. ITS A FEW MONTHS NOW BUT I ALWAYS HAVE THIS LINGERING FEELING THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN, SPECIALLY READING THE NEWS REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING AFTER SOME TIME.
MY RADAR DETECTOR REREADS BATTERY VOLTAGE AND WHEN U WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED THE BATTERY VOLTAGE DROPPED FROM 14.4V TO 12V WHEN EVER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS, WIPERS OR HEATER WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR WILL CAUSE TO VOLTAGE TO GO BACK TO 14.4V. I DO HAVE VIDEOS SHOWING THIS ISSUE. I NOTICED A LOT OF PEOPLE ON LINE THAT DO A LOT OF CITY DRIVING ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT DEAD BATTERIES. MY RESULTS SHOWS THAT THE CHARGING SYSTEM HAS AN ISSUE, SINCE THE BATTERY VOLTAGE SHOULD NEVER GO TO 12V WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. THE VIDEO WAS TAKEN WITH MY CELLL PHONE WITH THE EXTENSION OF .MOV AND THEREFORE I CAN'T UPLOAD IT USING THIS APP.
ELECTRICAL ISSUES, FLICKERING INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS, UNABLE TO UNLOCK/ LOCK DOORS. CAR WON'T START, DEAD BATTERY
SPONTANEOUS CRACK OF THE WINDSHIELD. HIGHWAY DRIVING, HOT DAY AND A SMALL CRACK APPEARED (THERE WAS NO PEBBLE OR DEBRIS THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD). YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT... THE CRACK GREW AND GREW AND GREW. I SEE THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHERS AND WANTED TO REPORT MY EXPERIENCE.
BATTERY DIED AND DID NOT RESPOND TO A JUMP. HAD BEEN DRIVEN MAYBE 2 OR 3 DAYS A WEEK FOR SHORT DISTANCES (20 MILES RT) DUE TO QUARANTINE. DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE, DESPITE THE WARRANTY ON THE BATTERY.
08/02/2020 SUNDAY MORNING AT 4133 MILES OUR BRAND NEW 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK THAT WE HAD FOR 1 MONTH, WOULD NOT START FROM THE CHURCH PARKING LOT. WE HAD A COMPANY JUMP START US, DROVE AROUND FOR AN HOUR AND THEN WENT HOME. WE PARKED IT AT HOME SUNDAY AFTERNOON WHERE IT STAYED UNTIL 2 DAYS LATER. 8/04/2020 TUESDAY MORNING AT 8AM I WENT TO START IT TO TAKE MY CAT TO THE VET AND IT WOULD NOT START. WE HAD TO USE A A RIDE SERVICE BECAUSE OF TIME CONSTRAINTS. 8/5/2020 WEDNESDAY WE HAD THE SAME COMPANY COME BACK OUT AND JUMP START US AGAIN. WE DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE. WE REFUSED TO LEAVE WITH THE CAR UNTIL THEY DID SOMETHING. THEY FOUND A PARASITIC DRAW REPLACED THE BATTERY. I DOUBT THE UNDERLINING ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. THEY REPLACED A BRAND NEW BATTERY AT JUST 4,155 MILES ON A BRAND NEW 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK.
THE WINDSHIELD IN MY 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK CRACKS FOR NO REASON. I'M ON MY THIRD WINDSHIELD IN A MONTH. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKS IMPAIR MY VISION AND IS MAKING THE CARD DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. SUBARU REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED OUT OF PARK INTO GEAR, THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR DOORS LOCKED WHILE THE REAR HATCH UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITH THE REAR HATCH UNLOCKED THE DOME LIGHT MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. W&L SUBARU (535 POINT TOWNSHIP DR, NORTHUMBERLAND, PA 17857 (570) 473-3432) WAS UNABLE TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE REAR HATCH MECHANISM WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,900. Consumer stated Subaru would purchase the vehicle because of all the electrical problems.
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN HIWAY 50 NEAR GUNNISON CO WHEN WE HEARD A SHARP SOUND FOLLOWED BY THE WINDSHIELD CRACKING. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, THIS WAS REPEATED BUT THE CRACKING OCCURRED IN A DIFFERENT PLACE ON THE WINDSHIELD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, A SMALL PEBBLE STRUCK THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND CAUSED A ONE FOOT LONG CRACK. ADDITIONALLY, WITHIN 24 HRS THE CRACK HAD GROWN TO APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET IN LENGTH. THE LOCAL DEALER BRANDON TOMES SUBARU LOCATED AT 1100 S CENTRAL EXPY, MCKINNEY, TX 75072 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT YET NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,800. INVALID VIN.
SINGLE ROCK CHIP TO WINDSHIELD OF 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK LIMITED XT WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY RESULTED NOT JUST IN CHIP BUT IMMEDIATE MULTIPLE EXTENDING CRACKS SPANNING MOST OF LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD. HAVE NOTED ONGOING CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT OVER THIS ISSUE.
THERE WAS A TINY ROCK CHIP THAT WAS ABOUT 7 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE CENTER. I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP AND IT CRACKED. ABOUT 14 INCHES FROM THAT CHIP ACROSS THEN DOWN. IT ALSO SPIDERED UP ABOUT 7 INCHES. SO NOW MY WHOLE WINDSHIELD WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS NO WAY THAT LITTLE OF A CRACK COULD SPIDER CRACK LIKE THAT. MIND YOU, I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TOMORROW MORNING TO GET THE CHIP FILLED. I WAS PLANNING ON TAKING CARE OF IT BUT NOW I WILL NEED A WHOLE NEW ONE.
The contact owns a 2020 Subaru Outback. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal sound on the front windshield. The contact continued to drive but within an hour a crack had formed in the middle of the windshield. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer where a glass company replaced the windshield. The contact stated several months later a small stone struck the base of the front shield and a huge crack developed from the bass to the center of the windshield. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer where the windshield was previously replaced, and the windshield was replaced a second time. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
TINY CHIP IN CORNER OF WINDSHIELD, PROGRESSED WITHIN 2 HRS. TO A CRACK 1/3 SIZE 24 IN +/-) AROUND ON PASSENGER SIDE OF WINDOW. NOTICED ON A STOP, BUT WAS ON HIGHWAY, NO NOISE WAS HEARD PRECEDING THE CHIP.
WHILE DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK ON A 2 LANE PAVED ROAD AT APPROX 35 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR I HEARD THIS LOUD CRACK AND I THEN NOTICE A FAIRLY LARGE CRACK AT THE BOTTOM OF MY WINDSHIELD. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME AT THE TIME OF THIS CRACK SOUND.
PURCHASE 2020 SUBARU ON 12/30/19 AND AS 7/15/20 THE WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED THREE TIMES DO TO CRACKING. FIRST TIME IT CHIPS AND CRACK APPEARED AND SPREAD THE WINDSHIELD. SECOND TIME, CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE AND CAME OUT AND FOUND A CRACKED ACROSS THE LOWER PART OF IT. THIRD TIME ON JULY 15 DRIVING ON A SECONDARY ROAD DRIVE OVER A SPEED BUMP AND A CRACK APPEARED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE GARAGE IS ALWAYS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. YESTERDAY, JULY 22, WALKED OUT TO THE CAR AND NOW THERE ARE NEW CRACKS ON THE DRIVER SIDE. HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE WINDSHIELD FIXED YET. CAN YOU HELP?
AFTER OWNING MY 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK FOR JUST OVER A MONTH WITH 1700 MILES ON IT I'VE HAD TO JUMP START MY CAR NOW 6 TIMES. I WORK 7 MILES FROM HOME AND DRIVE A LOT OF SHORT TRIPS. I SEE SUBARU HAS A ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY GOING DEAD WITH MY NAME CONCERN I WORK FOR A DEALER THAT HAS THE SUBARU DEALER AND I WILL CALL THEM TOMORROW TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY WILL DO BESIDES JUST REPLACE MY BATTERY. TODAY I HAD TO JUMP TO DRIVE TO WORK. JUMP TO GO OUT AT LUNCH. JUMP TO LEAVE WORK AND WHEN I GOT HOME I TRIED TO RESTART AND IT DIDN'T START AGAIN SO I KNOW WHAT I WILL BE DOING IN THE MORNING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITHIN 24 HOURS THE FRACTURE SPREAD TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO IRA SUBARU (97 ANDOVER ST, DANVERS, MA 01923, (978) 739-8850) WHO STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT REPLACED DUE TO A STRESS POINT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 4,100.
WHILE DRIVING ALONG ROUTE 81 SOUTH OF CARLISLE PA. AN AUDIBLE POP WAS HEARD. I NOTED NOTHING AT THE TIME. LATER IN THE DAY, THIS 2 FOOT CRACK APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD. I DON'T BELIEVE THE CRACK IS THE RESULT OF AN OBJECT AS THERE IS NO APPARENT POINT OF IMPACT AND ONLY THE THE VERY SMALL AREA ADJOINING THE FRAME IS AT ALL DISTURBED ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS CLEAN CRACK.
WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS THERE IS A CRACKING SOUND IN THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION OR BRAKE AREA, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN GOING AT HIGH SPEEDS JUST SMALL BUMPS AND BRAKING.
JULY 2, 2020: THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED SEEMINGLY WITHOUT CAUSE WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. AFTER STOPPING, IT APPEARED TO HAVE A TINY CHIP NEAR THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR AND A CRACK ABOUT 3 FEET LONG EXTENDING FROM IT. THIS WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ON JULY 8, 2020. JULY 19, 2020: THE NEW WINDSHIELD RECEIVED A TINY ROCK CHIP WHILE DRIVING. THE ROCK CHIP WAS LESS THAN 1 INCH IN SIZE SO A REPAIR WAS TO BE ATTEMPTED. THE REPAIR WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AS THE ROCK CHIP IMMEDIATELY SPREAD WHEN SUCTION WAS APPLIED TO THE SURFACE.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON I NEVER SAW ANYTHING HIT IT OR NEVER HEARD ANYTHING HIT IT. IT LOOKS LIKE IT STARTED AT THE EDGE OF THE GLASS. THEN THE CRACK BEGAN TO SPREAD OVER NIGHT WHILE CAR WAS SITTING, BECAUSE I WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING IN THE CRACK WAS WAY LONGER.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD.
2020 SUBARU OUTBACK. CRACKER WINDSHIELD FROM A PEBBLE NICK. NOT A ROCK.
OUR 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK, WITH FEWER THAN 800 MILES, FAILED TO START FOUR TIMES (6/1, 7/1, 7/10, & 7/13). DURING THESE INCIDENTS, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED, THE DASHBOARD PRODUCED A CLICKING SOUND, THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK, AND THE TAILGATE BECAME INOPERATIVE. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SUCCESSFULLY JUMP-STARTED THE CAR EACH TIME AND TOOK IT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING -- ONE IN SEATTLE AND ONE IN TACOMA. TWO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SERVICE PROVIDERS SAID THEIR MOST FREQUENT SERVICE CALLS REQUIRING A JUMP-START WERE FOR "LATE MODEL SUBARUS. ONE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID HE RECEIVED MORE THAN 100 SUCH REQUESTS DURING THE PAST THREE MONTHS. THE TACOMA DEALER FILED AM URFCA REPORT WITH SUBARU HEADQUARTERS AFTER THE THIRD INCIDENT. DURING THE FOURTH INCIDENT, THE BATTERY FAILED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE TACOMA DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY ON JULY 13, 2020. AFTER RECHARGING THE BATTERY, IT TOOK A FEW DAYS OF BEING PARKED BEFORE THE BATTERY FAILED. DURING THIS LAST INCIDENT, I INTENTIONALLY LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER OVER A WEEKEND, WHICH WAS LONG ENOUGH FOR THE RECENTLY CHARGED BATTERY TO DRAIN ENOUGH TO FAIL TO START THE CAR. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THESE CARS NEED TO BE DRIVEN AT LEAST 30 MINUTES PER TRIP TO SUFFICIENTLY RECHARGE THE BATTERY. WE'VE OWNED FIVE SUBARU OUTBACKS, AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED THIS ADVICE BEFORE, NOR DID THE DEALER'S SALES REPRESENTATIVE CALL THIS TO OUR ATTENTION WHEN WE PURCHASED THE 2020 OUTBACK. OUR LIFESTYLE, COUPLED WITH THE COVID-19 VIRUS, ONLY REQUIRES ONE OR TWO TRIPS PER MONTH LASTING MORE THAN 30 MINUTES. THE CAR SITS IN THE GARAGE FOR TWO TO THREE DAYS WITHOUT BEING STARTED. WE ALWAYS LOCK THE VEHICLE, TURN OFF ALL LIGHTS, CLOSE THE TAILGATE, AND KEEP THE KEY FOB IN THE HOUSE, WHICH IS MORE THAN 500 FEET FROM THE DETACHED GARAGE.
- Infotainment center freezes making controls inaccessible. I live in the desert where temps reach 120+ in the car and not being able to turn on the AC is dangerous. - Windows will not roll up once they are rolled down, especially after it has rained or after washing the car. - Driver side Door Sensor Switch broke. This would keep the interior lights and infotainment center from turning off.
BOUGHT MY CAR IN MARCH 2020, BRAND NEW 2020 OUTBACK XT ONYX EDITION 2.4 TURBO, IN TWO MONTH BATTERY START DYING AFTER 2-3 DAYS CAR PARKED, TODAY JULY 12 2020 ITS DEAD EVERY TIME I TRY TO START A CAR, USE BOOSTER STARTER TO START THE CAR.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING
A LARGE CRACK (10") APPEARED IN OUR WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO APPARENT IMPACT FROM ANY DEBRIS ON OUR NEW OUTBACK
5 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THIS NEW VEHICLE, THE BATTERY HAS DIED THREE TIMES. ON TWO OCCASION IT WAS SITTING IN MY GARAGE HAVING BEEN DRIVEN A SHORT DISTANCE WITHIN THE PAST 72 HRS. ON ONE OCCASIONS IT WAS DEAD 48 HRS AFTER BEING JUMPED AND DRIVE. TODAY IT WAS JUMPED AGAIN AND DRIVEN TO MAITA SUBARU IN SACRAMENTO, CA. AFTER WAITING FOR 15 MINUTES IN THE SERVICE DRIVEWAY, WAITING TO BE SERVED, THE CAR BATTERY WAS FOUND TO BE DEAD BY SERVICE TECHS.
I WENT INTO A STORE. WHEN I CAME OUT, THERE WAS A S SHAPED CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD, STARTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. NO CARS WERE PARKED NEAR MINE. THE CRACK SEEMED TO APPEAR SPONTANEOUSLY.
AFTER BATTERY DIED 2 TIMES THIS WEEK AND I HAD TO JUMP START IT, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH CAR OR BATTERY. THEY CHARGED THE BATTERY AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT MORE. THE NEXT DAY (TODAY 7/11/2020) I MADE A SHORT TRIP WITH IT AND IT WAS FINE. SEVERAL HOURS LATER I WANTED TO USE THE CAR AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START UNTIL I JUMPED IT. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALER AGAIN ON MONDAY.
TWO OEM WINDSHIELDS CRACKED (INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL) WITHIN 1 WEEK OF EITHER BUYING THE CAR OR REPLACING THEM. BOTH WINDSHIELDS' CRACK STARTED FROM THE MIDDLE OF EITHER THE SUPPORTING LEFT OR RIGHT BARS, GO IN FOR ABOUT 6 INCHES, AND THEN CURVED DOWNWARD. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, NO CAR IN FRONT OF US TO KICK UP GRAVEL, NO IMPACT POINT ON GLASS.
WITH SLIGHTLY MORE THAN 1300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, AND AFTER THE CAR WAS SITTING FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED SO THAT NOTHING APPEARED ON THE SCREENS, THE REAR GATE WOULD NOT FUNCTION, AND NO GREEN LIGHT APPEARED TO SHOW THAT THE CAR WAS READY TO START. WHEN THE IGNITION BUTTON WAS PRESSED, NOTHING HAPPENED. USING A BRAND NEW 5 AMP BATTERY CHARGER, AFTER 20 HOURS IT SHOWS THE BATTERY TO BE ONLY 25% CHARGED.
AFTER NOT BEING USED FOR 10 DAYS THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED ON JULY 3, 2020. TOWED TO THE DEALER ON JULY 5 PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED, CHARGED BATTERY RETURNED CAR JULY 9, 2020. CAR SAT NOT USED UNTIL JULY 18 AND SAME DEAD BATTERY ISSUED RECURRED.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND GIVING SYSTEMS NOT WORKING. HEADLIGHTS FLASHED CONTINUOUSLY. IT WAS IN THE GARAGE BUT COULDN'T GET TAILGATE OPEN. TURNED OUT ISSUE WAS BATTERY FOR THE IGNITION. SUBARU EMERGENCY ARRANGED TOWING AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD BRING IT BACK TO ME. THEN WHEN I REQUESTED THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $168 TO BRING IT BACK. IT IS A WEEK OLD AND 335 MILES ON IT AND THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME TO RETURN IT TO ME.
WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 35 TO 40MPH APPROACHING A STOPPED INTERSECTION (RED LIGHT) I TRIED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE BY BRAKING AND COULD NOT LOCATE THE BRAKE PETAL. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND MOVED IT TO THE LEFT AT THE SAME LEVEL IN AN EFFORT TO FIND THE BRAKE PETAL. MY FOOT DID NOT HIT THE PETAL. I AGAIN MOVED MY FOOT FROM RIGHT TO LEFT HIGHER THAN LOWER AND STILL DID NOT FIND A BRAKE PETAL. I COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING FORWARD. WHILE I WAS APPROACHING THE STOPPED LINES OF TRAFFIC THE VEHICLES' (EYE-SIGHT) FEATURE FAILED TO OPERATE AND WARN ME OR START BRAKING THE VEHICLE AS I SWERVED AROUND THEM TO AVOID A COLLISION. HAVING AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT, I IMMEDIATELY PUSHED THE VEHICLES' (STARTER PUSH BUTTON) TO SUCH OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CAME TO A STOP. I NOTED IMMEDIATELY THAT THE BRAKE PETAL HAD REAPPEARED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE HAD 1860 MI OF USE AT THE TIME. THE (ACTIVE CURSE) WAS SET FOR 40MPH, BUT NOT ENGAGED. THE (AUTO START/STOP) FUNCTION WAS TURNED OFF. THE (AUTO VEHICLE HOLD) FUNCTION WAS TURNED ON. AFTER A REVIEW OF THE BLACK BOX DATA AND THE PHYSICAL VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP AND SUBARU AMERICA INVESTIGATIONS, THEY DETERMINED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY COULD NOT ACCOUNT FOR THE MISSING BRAKE PETAL OR WHY THE (EYE-SIGHT FUNCTION) DID NOT ENGAGE AND WARN ME TO BRAKE OR START APPLYING THE BRAKES ITSELF.
HAD A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHEN A LIGHT TURNED GREEN. CHIP TURNED INTO A CRACK BY THE NEXT MORNING AND WITHIN A FEW DAYS CRACK SPREAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD HORIZONTALLY.
A CRACK SPONTANEOUSLY APPEARED ON MY WINDSHIELD A FEW DAYS AGO..IT LOOKS LIKE AN EDGE CRACK THAT JUST FORMED WHILE IT WAS STATIONARY ON MY DRIVEWAY AND DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE FORMED BY CONTACT WITH ANY OBJECT. FOR 2 WEEKS IN A ROW, OUR 2020 SUBARU (MILEAGE 2,845) FAILED TO START, AFTER NOT HAVING BEEN DRIVEN FOR 40+ HOURS, BECAUSE THE BATTERY HAD DRAINED. IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY, MORE OR LESS ON LEVEL GROUND. EACH TIME WE HAD TO CALL FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. LAST MONDAY (6/29/2020), WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE CAR, AUTONATION HUNT VALLEY SUBARU (COCKEYSVILLE, MARYLAND). WHILE THERE, THE TECHNICIAN TOLD US, "NOT THAT WE LIKE TO BLAME THE VICTIM, BUT..." HE INDICATED THAT WE HAD PROBABLY LEFT A DOOR AJAR OR MADE SOME OTHER HUMAN ERROR. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE GARAGE TESTED THE BATTERY AND IT WAS HEALTHY (PLEASE SEE ATTACHED BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ANALYSIS). WE DECIDED TO LEAVE THE CAR THERE FOR ITS 6-MONTH SERVICING, AND DROVE IT AWAY THAT EVENING, EXPECTING THAT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. THE INVOICE AND FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE CHECK UP SERVICE IS ATTACHED. TO OUR SURPRISE, THIS MORNING (07/06/2020) WE ENCOUNTERED THE VERY SAME ISSUE AGAIN, AND AGAIN WE HAD TO CALL UP A ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SERVICE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY FOR US. AT THIS POINT, WE ARE UNSURE HOW TO PROCEED, AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY GUIDANCE FROM THE NHTSA.
