NOTICED THAT THE DASHBOARD SECTION AIR BAG (CONSOLE) ON PASSENGER SIDE HAS STARTED "CRACKING". WHEN FIRST NOTICED IT WAS APPROXIMATE ONE INCH IN LENGTH, & IS PROGRESSING CURRENTLY APPROXIMATE 2" INCHES IN LENGTH. CALL TOYOTA TO INFORM AND SUGGESTED I TAKE TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I SERVICE MY VEHICLE. UPON DOING SO THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS OK AND WOULDN'T DIMINISH THE INTEGRITY OF THE AIRBAGS GOING OFF. I STILL FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CONSOLE PROCEEDING TO CRACK, AND BELIEVE ONCE SUMMER HEAT CONTINUES TO HIT DASHBOARD IT WILL PROGRESS TO CRACK FURTHER. WIFE ( PASSENGER) IS QUITE CONCERNED SINCE SHE NOTICES THE CRACK GETTING LONGER. WE GARAGE OUR CAR, BUT IF CAR WAS PARKED OUT IN SUN IT COULD POSSIBLY GET WORSE. *TR
I REAR ENDED CAR AND THE LOWER AIRBAG DEPLOYED STRIKING ME JUST BELOW BY KNEES. MY RIGHT LEG DEVELOPED A HEMATOMA FROM THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND REQUIRED SURGERY. I STILL HAVE A LARGE DEPRESSED AREA ON MY LEG, A SCAR, TENDERNESS AND DARKENING OF THE SKIN, ALL WHICH WILL REQUIRE FURTHER SURGERY TO REPAIR.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKING RAPIDLY AND TOYOTA ISN'T STANDING BEHIND THIS DEFECT. CONCERNED ABOUT FLYING PARTS IF THE AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY. CAR IS MAINLY KEPT IN THE GARAGE AND I VENT TO LET THE LEATHER BREATHE. THIS IS APPARENTLY A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
JUST HEARD OF THE LEXUS RECALLS ABOUT FUEL LEAK PROBLEM. TOYOTA DEALER FOUND A FUEL LEAK IN MY FUEL LINE AND I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. I JUST WANTED TO INFORM YOU JUST INCASE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH OTHER TOYOTA MODELS.. *TR
NEW TIRES 90 DAYS OLD APPROX. 1,000 - 1,500 MILES USED. TRAVELING WESTBOUND RTE. 50 MARYLAND AT 62-65 MPH HOV LANE. BETWEEN BOWIE EXIT RTE 301 AND EXITS FOR RTES 495/95, THREAD ON PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM SIDEWALLS. SIDEWALLS REMAINED ON TIRE RIM BUT THREAD WAS COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM SIDEWALLS. ABLE TO PULL INTO GRASSY SHOULDER AREA, COUNTY POLICE IMMEDIATELY CAME ON THE SCENE FOLLOWED BY SHA VEHICLE ASSISTANCE CREWS. INCIDENT CAUSED RAIN REFLECTOR TO DETACH FROM VEHICLE. ISSUES I'VE COMPLAINED ABOUT FOR YEAR TO TOYOTA ONLY TO FIND OUT NOW TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THEM ALL ALONG THERE WERE RECALLS & SERVICE BULLETIN. THAT SHOULD HAVE COVERED MY TOYOTA ISSUE THE INFORMATION BELOW CAME FROM SITES TOYOTA ISSUED THIS WARNING TOO. THE RECALL FOR STEERING COLUMN WAS ON 2005 MINE IS A EARLY MODEL 2006 WITH THE EXACT SAME SAFETY ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA AVALON. WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP AT 20 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND. A MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
THE TOYOTA AVALON LIMITED WAS HIT BROADSIDED AT AROUND 50 MPH, OR MORE ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT INFLATE. THE DRIVER HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THE CAR AND THE BACK PASSENGER RECEIVED SOME WHIPLASH, AND THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE TO THE BACK DOOR. THE WHOLE DASHBOARD RECEIVED DAMAGE AND BUCKLED. THE FRONT PASSENGER HAD SEVERE TRAUMA TO HER LEFT LEG. THE CAR IS TOTALED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 10/2005. A RECALL OF 133 CARS WERE MADE AROUND 3/2006. I WAS NOT THE ONE NOTIFIED AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT INFLATE AND THAT WAS ONE OF THE REASONS I BOUGHT THIS CAR. WHY WASN'T MY CAR NOTIFIED? I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THE FRONT AIRBAGS WOULD HAVE WORKED IF WE WERE IN A FRONTEND COLLISION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN AT ABOUT 25 MPH, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE BY ITSELF TO 30MPH, EVEN IF THE ACCELERATOR IS RELEASED. PUSHING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR HAS NO EFFECT. THE ACCELERATION IS BRIEF AND STOPS BY ITSELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. CRUISE CONTROL NOT ENGAGED. THE CAR COMPUTER WAS RE-FLASHED AT THE DEALER YEAR TO ADDRESS TO ADDRESS SENSITIVE ACCELERATOR ISSUES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA AVALON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE ENGINE RPMS INDEPENDENTLY AND ABNORMALLY INCREASED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE VSC AND SLIP LIGHTS ON THE DASH. HAD IT SCANNED AND THE CODES ARE P2195 AND P0138. I AM HAVING A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THIS, I FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD COVER THIS PROBLEM OR ATLEAST MOST OF IT. I HAD STARTED DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. I APPLIED BRAKES AND HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING IT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION. THEY SUGGESTED TO CALL TOYOTA CORPORATION AND PROVIDED ME WITH A 800 NUMBER. I TOLD THE REP OF THE PROBLEM AND SHE INFORMED ME THAT THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED AND NEW MATS WERE ISSUED TO THE CUSTOMERS. I ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE VEHICLE IN 2010 WAS CHECKED BY TOYOTA AND ISSUED MATS. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS AFTER THAT TIME BUT IN MARCH 2014, THE ACCELERATION STARTED AGAIN. SHE SAID THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED AND SETTLED. I AM CONCERNED WHETHER THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM WAS NOT WHAT TOYOTA PINPOINTED AND TOLD US THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. DASHBOARD CRACKED FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER, CRACKED ALL UP BY THE INSTRUMENT BOARD, DOWN BY THE COMPARTMENT. JUST APPEARED ONE DAY. CAR IN GARAGED. TOYOTA DEALER ACKNOWLEDGE IT THAT THEY ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH QUITE A FEW VEHICLES. TOYOTA WANTS ME TO PAY $500 TOWARDS REPLACING THE DASH. I FEEL IT IS A DEFECT, OBVIOUSLY, ON THEIR PART AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED. CAN IT BE A SAFETY HAZARD? MAYBE IF IT IS CRACKED AROUND WHERE THE DASH AIR BAG IS. *TR

THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A PATIO AND THEN A HOUSE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS ALERTED OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

COULD NOT CHANGE FLAT TIRE BECAUSE LUG NUTS HAD SWELLED SO WRENCH WOULD NOT FIT, HAD TO BUY A SIZE BIGGER WRENCH TO REMOVE LUG NUTS. ALSO ALL THE LUG NUTS ON THE CAR WERE SWELLED. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THIS I WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR

RECENTLY, ABOUT JULY OF 2013, WHEN I FIRST STARTED NOTICING IT, THE COMPLETE DASH OF THIS CAR HAS BECOME COVERED IN A VERY STICKY, SHINY SUBSTANCE. NO SEALERS, POLISHES OR WAXES HAVE EVER BEEN APPLIED TO IT, ONLY CLEANED WITH A DAMP RAG. NOT ONLY IS THIS TOYOTA DEFECT AFFECTING THE VALUE OF THIS CAR IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. THE GLARE THE SHINE ON THE DASH CREATES MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER TOYOTA AVALON AND CAMRY OWNERS COMPLAIN OF THIS DEFECT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA AVALON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN IN REVERSE, THE ENGINE ROMS BEGAN RACING AND THE ENGINE ROARED LOUDLY. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS DECREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE WOULD CONTACT HIM AT A LATER DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DASH BOARD AND AIR BAG FRONT AREA N THEE FRONT BEGAN TO CRACK. CAR HAS NEVER BEEN HOUSED OUTSIDE A GARAGE AND I CAN SEE WHERE THE MATERIAL SHOULD BEGIN TO CRACK. IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MOIST AND CLEAN. NOW IT IS EXTENDING THRU THE FRONT AREA EVEN MORE. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A TOYOTA 2004 SOLARA IT STARTED ABOUT THE SAME TIME. SAME HOUSING AND CARE APPLIES HERE TOO.THE 2004 MODEL HAD ABOUT 50000 WHEN IT STARTED TO CRACK THE MATERIAL. *TR

DRIVING EAST ON COLDSPRING LANE- WAS CROSSING CHARLES ST AT THE INTERSECTION WHEN OTHER DRIVER GOING WEST ON COLDSPRING LANE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO CHARLES ST GOING SOUTH I HAD NO TIME TO HIT THE BRAKES I RAN INTO HIS SIDE OF THE CAR PASSENGER SIDE-MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOYED. THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS TOTAL DESTROYED. MY WIFE AND I SUSTAINED INJURIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA AVALON. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE RPM'S INCREASE EXCESSIVELY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD AS IF IT WANT TO TAKE OFF. ALSO WHENEVER HE WAS GETTING ON AN EXIT AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESS THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED ON AN UPHILL GRADE. WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON THE GRADE THE CAR WOULD MOVE A ABOUT THREE FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION BUT WOULD NOT GO FURTHER. A LOUD RUMBLING SOUND AND THE CAR VIBRATED BUT WOULD NOT MOVE.. ANOTHER CAR TO MY RIGHT HAD TO STOP TO AVOID HITTING ME. T THINK THE TRACTION CONTROL IS DESIGNED POORLY AS I HAVE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE. *TR
TAKATA RECALL I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND MADE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE DRIVERS SEAT SHIFTING WHEN I'M DRIVING AND MASH ON THE BRAKES. I THOUGHT THE SEAT NEEDED TIGHTENING THE TOYOTA DEALER CHECKED THE SEAT AND INFORMED ME THAT THE FRAME WAS DETERIORATING.

DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS VEHICLES TRANSMISSIONS HESITATES SHIFTING UP OR DOWN BETWEEN GEARS. ON 03/22/2010 TOYOTA REPLACED A VVTI OIL HOSE UNDER RECALL # 90K BECAUSE THE RUBBER PORTION OF THE HOSE WAS SUBJECT TO FAILURE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE OIL TO SPAY OUT. ON 07/24/2012 THE REPLACEMENT HOSE RUPTURED CAUSING ENGINE OIL TO SPRAY OUT. THE ENGINE OIL SOAKED THE SERPENTINE BELT WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP AS WELL AS OTHER COMPONENTS. I SLOWED TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE ON THE ROOF OF PARKING GARAGE. I TAPPED MY BRAKE AND FELT A SUDDEN SURGE OF POWER. (NOISY POWER SOUND) I FORCEFULLY PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKES AND BURNED RUBBER MAKING VISIBLE SKID MARKS. 2006 TOYOTA AVALON. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE REMOTE STARTING DEVICE. SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HER PARENTS PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE BACK IN 2006. THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A KEYLESS REMOTE STARTING SYSTEM. ALL IT TOOK, WAS TO HAVE THE DEVICE IN ONES POCKET AND HER FATHER COULD GET IN THE VEHICLE, PRESS A BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD START UP. WHEN HER FATHER ARRIVED AT HIS DESTINATION, ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, PRESS THE REMOTE BUTTON AND THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF. ON JUNE 28, 2012, WHEN THE CONSUMERS FATHER RETURNED HOME, HE PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE AND WENT IN THE HOUSE. HOURS LATER, THE CONSUMERS FATHER WAS FOUND DECEASED IN THE HOUSE FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE SMELL OF THE POISONOUS GAS WAS OVERWHELMING THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE BECAUSE AFTER HER DAD TOOK HIS PACKAGES OUT OF THE CAR AND INTO THE HOUSE, HE CLOSED THE GARAGE, AND NEVER SHUT OFF THE REMOTE STARTER BUTTON. FROM MORNING ALL THROUGH THE DAY, CARBON MONOXIDE SLOWLY SEEPED IN THE KITCHEN WHERE THE GARAGE WAS ATTACHED, THROUGH THE KITCHEN AND INTO THE DEN WHERE HER DAD WAS SITTING. THE CONSUMER STATED HAD THERE BEEN AN AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF SYSTEM THAT ACTIVATED AFTER A PRESET TIME, WHEN THERE WAS NO WEIGHT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, MUCH LIKE THE AIR BAGS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, THIS SENSELESS TRAGEDY WOULD HAVE NEVER OCCURRED. *JB
