ELECTRONIC GAS MILEAGE CALCULATOR IS OFF BY 4.5 MILES PER GALLON. IF FOLLOWED YOU WOULD RUN OUT OF GAS 50 TO 60 MILES BEFORE THEY SAY YOU SHOULD. 2004 TOYOTA XLE. OYOTA SAID, " IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A LITTLE OFF", MY CADILLAC WAS A LITTLE OFF 1 TO 2 TENTHS OF A MILE PER GALLON. I ASKED THEM TO FIX IT AND THERE ANSWER IS THEY CAN'T. WHEN I ASKED WHAT SHOULD I DO, THEY SAID, " WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO" . I PAID EXTRA FOR THE XLE FEATURES. *AK
DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE STUCK WHILE DRIVER TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ALSO, WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED. CONSUMER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED FRONT TIRES PULLED TO THE LEFT SIDE, AND VEHICLE VIBRATED. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE DEALER HAS NOW SATISFACTORILY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *NM
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE ACCELERATOR STUCK, CAUSING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO STRIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER FOUND NO DEFECTS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOY UNEXPECTEDLY. PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE FOR INSPECTION. THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS FAILED TO ADJUST PROPERLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS JAMMED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE SEAT BELTS WERE EJECTED FROM THE BUCKLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHERE THE SEAT BELTS WERE TAKEN APART AND REINSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING A PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION THAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING WITH MY 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY V6. AFTER APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE ENGINE HESITATES FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS BEFORE RESPONDING ABRUPTLY. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO, BUT THE ACCELERATION TROUBLE DID NOT BEGIN UNTIL AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR INSPECTION BY THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE PROBLEM BEGAN, I WAS SIMPLY TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER HAD NOT FOUND ANYTHING. SINCE THEN, THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND I HAVE BECOME INCREASINGLY RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE CAR.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY RE-CALIBRATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,632.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR OUR 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY SUDDENLY DECELERATED, AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD VERY SLOWLY. AFTER PULLING THE CAR OFF OF THE TRAVEL LANE AND INTO A SAFE LOCATION, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE CAR COULD BE DRIVEN VERY SLOWLY (APPROXIMATELY 2-4 MILES PER HOUR) WITH THE ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED COMPLETELY. AFTER ABOUT 45 SECONDS THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE TO 35-40 MILES PER HOUR AND STAY AT THAT SPEED WITH THE ACCELERATOR COMPLETELY DEPRESSED. THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO OPERATE WITH THESE ACCELERATOR PROBLEMS. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER WHO INFORMED US THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL COMPUTER HAD FAILED, AND THAT THE ENTIRE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL COMPUTER MUST BE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO AN ADVERTISING POLE. BEFORE IMPACT, THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *SC THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHEN '!@#$% HIT A BUMP AND THEN IT DEPLOYED TO THE SIZE OF A HALF BALLON, THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THEY ALL DO THEY DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE BUMP. THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS HIT, HOWEVER THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, ONLY THE DRIVERS SIDE. *JB

FROM DAY ONE CAR HAS PULLED TO THE LEFT. STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO NOT CENTERED AND HAS TOO MUCH "PLAY". I MUST APPLY CONSTENT PRESSURE TO THE RIGHT JUST TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT. CAR DOES NOT HAVE A SOLID, STABLE FEEL TO IT WHERE STEERING IS CONCERENED. I HAVE BROGHT THIS BACK TWICE TO LAUREL TOYOTA CARMAX AND THEY HAVE NOT FIXED IT. I HAD A LOANER CAR FOR TWO DAYS AND THAT CAR FELT LIKE IT SHOULD. I WILL FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER AS WELL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT. EVEN WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A BLIND SPOT. CONSUMER HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT A RECALL. *AK
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE COMMENCED TO ACCELERATE WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND APPLYING THE BRAKES. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
EXTREME HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP OR FROM LOW SPEED. *NM
I NEED YOUR HELP ON PROBLEMS AND LAWS GOVERNING NEW CARS. I JUST TOOK DELIVERY OF MY 2004 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE. THE PROBLEM IS AN OBSTRUCTED VIEW OUT OF MY REARVIEW MIRROR. THERE IS ONLY A 12" WIDTH BETWEEN THE TWO LARGE HEADRESTS ON THE BACK SEAT. I HAVE BLIND SPOTS THAT I CANNOT PICK UP WITH EITHER MY SIDE MIRRORS OR MY REARVIEW MIRROR. I HAVE BEEN TO THE NORTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY PATROL. AS THE LAW IS WRITTEN, HAD I LOADED MY CAR TO BLOCK THE VIEW IN THIS MANNER, I WOULD BE IN VIOLATION. HOWEVER, A CAR CAN BE CONSTRUCTED WITH AN OBSTRUCTED VIEW. APPARENTLY, MY TOYOTA IS NOT THE ONLY CAR DESIGNED WITH AN OBSTRUCTED VIEW. FRIENDS OF MINE WHO DRIVE VANS TELL ME THEY ALSO CANNOT SEE WELL OUT OF THEIR REARVIEW MIRRORS. PLEASE HELP. THERE SHOULD BE A LAW GOVERNING MANUFACTURES TO PROVIDE PROPER VIEW FOR PASSENGER CARS. *JB
THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE STATION AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE CAR WAS QUICKLY LEAKING BRAKE FLUID FROM A BRAKE LINE, AND THE ABS ACTUATOR. AFTER ALREADY HAVING A FINAL REPAIR ATTEMPT FOR THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART, TOYOTA HAD TO AGAIN REPLACE THE BRAKE LINE AND THE ABS ACTUATOR. CURRENTLY WE ARE PURSUING ARRBITRATION BASED ON THE NORTH CAROLINA LEMON LAW TO DEMAND THE REPURCHASE OF THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT CONTINUE TO HAVE DEFECTS IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM.*AK
THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE REAR HEAD REST IN THE VEHICLE ARE TOO LARGE BECAUSE THEY PARTIALLY BLOCK THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE REAR WHILE DRIVING. *AK *NM
TRANSMISSION MAY DELAY GEAR SELECTION AND ACCELLERATION FOR UP TO 4 SECONDS PUTTING LIVES IN JEAPORDY WHEN WISHING TO ACCCELERATE OR PASS. TRANSMISSION KNOCKS AND SEARCHES WHEN CREAPING IN TRAFFIC BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. CLEARING AN INTERSECTION FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC MAY BE HAZARDOUS. PASSING DOWNSHIFTS ARE COMPLETELY DANGEROUS.....WOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO PASS ANYMORE IN THIS CAR! *AK
2004 TOYOTA CAMARY WITH FIRESTONE BRIDGESTONE TIRES ARE VERY UNSAFE. I EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT ON THE I-10, THE TIRE UNRAVELED FROM THE SIDE WALLS SPLITING THE TIRE INTO 2 PIECES. *JB
DEFECTIVE BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE TIRES, REQUEST A DEFECT INVEST.,FOR TREAD SEPARATION. *BF WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE'S DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE BLEWOUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE TIRE WAS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND THE VEHICLE HAD 7000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WANTED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE TIRE. *NM
INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE/TRANSMISSION HESITATION AND SHIFTS IN SPEEDS LOWER THAN 40 MPH. PROBLEMS NOTICED FROM TIME CAR WAS PURCHASE TO CURRENT. DEALER HAS CHECKED THE CAR FOUR TIMES AND DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE CHANGES GEARS SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING AT 25 MPH. ORIGINALLY THE SHIFTING PROBLEMS LURCHED,JERKED, AS IF SOMEONE WAS HITTING FROM BEHIND. TSB 00505 WAS APPLIED ON JULY 28, 2005 BY THE DEALER. IT CHANGED THE SHIFTING PROBLEM SO THAT IT ISN'T A JERK BUT SOUNDS LIKE A BUMP FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, ALSO CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DELAY WHEN VEHICLE IS AT A STOP AND THEN ACCELERATED. MANY INSTANCES MADE ME UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT SAFETY: PULLING OUT WHEN THERE'S A BREAK IN TRAFFIC, HESITATION HAPPENS SIGNIFICANTLY LONG ENOUGH FOR THERE NOT TO BE A BREAK ANYMORE; COMING TO FOUR WAY STOP, WHEN ITS MY TURN TO GO, HESITATION CREATES CONFUSION TO OTHER DRIVERS. THE PROBLEM IS ALSO DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE DRIVER IS TRYING TO SECOND GUESS THE VEHICLE TO ALTER THE PROBLEM. *JB
AT 630 MILES THE ODOMETER FAILED. WHICH READ 56 MILES UPON PURCHASE. THE SPEEDOMETER, CRUISE CONTROL, AND THE ODOMETER OPERATED UNDER ONE MODULE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE MODULE FAILED AGAIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE SPEEDOMETER ASSEMBLY. WHILE DRIVING WITH THE VEHICLE IN CRUISE CONTROL IT WILL SURGE FORWARD AT AN ALARMING RATE OF SPEED. TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. *AK
TOYOTA CAMRY WAS PURCHASED JUNE 28, 2004. PULLED TO LEFT DURING TEST DRIVE BUT WAS PROMISED THAT IT WOULD BE ALIGNED AND TAKEN CARE OF. REPEATED TRIP'S FOR SERVICE HAVE RESULTED IN THE TIRES BE ROTATED REPEATEDLY BUT NO EFFECT ON THE PULLING ISSUE. ENDED UP IN ARBITRATION. WASTE OF TIME. SHOP FORMAN TYPE PERSON ACKNOWLEDGED THIS AS A OFT REPEATED COMPLAINT. ARBITRATION DENIED ANY TYPE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. CONSTANTLY REPEATED THE "CROWN OF THE ROAD" STORY, THE "ITS DESIGNED THAT WAY FOR YOUR SAFETY" STORY, ETC. FIRST SET OF TIRES WORE OUT AFTER 18000 MILES. WAS TOLD THAT THEY'RE DESIGNED THAT WAY FOR A BETTER RIDE. TOOK CAR TO ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALER. HE CHANGED SPRINGS AND SUCH, APPARENTLY TO EXERCISE THE WARRANTY. AFTER NEARLY A WEEK IN THE SHOP, NO BETTER. AGAIN TOLD THE "CROWN OF THE ROAD STORY" AND THE "ITS DESIGNED THAT WAY" STORY. TO REPEAT WHAT IF HAVE SEEN IN THE OTHER COMPLAINTS, THIS IS TOO MUCH TO PAY FOR A NEW CAR THAT CONSTANTLY PULLS TO THE LEFT. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT HAVING IT PULL TOWARDS THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WOULD NOT BE THE DESIRED RESULT HERE. THE ACT OF HAVING TO CONSTANTLY APPLY RIGHT TENSION IS NOT ONLY TIRING, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. IF YOU GLANCE AWAY FROM THE ROAD, THE ABNORMAL FEEL OF RIGHT TENSION CAUSES SOME TOTALLY UNDESIRABLE MANEUVERS. TOTALLY FRUSTRATING. IT APPEARS THAT MY THIRD TOYOTA WILL BE MY LAST. *NM
TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA CONVERTIBLE EQUIPPED WITH 17" WHEELS AND BRIDGESTONE TURANZA P215/55R17 MUD AND SNOW TIRES HAVE EXPERIENCED TWO SIDEWALL FAILURES AT APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES AND 1700 MILES REQUIRING TIRE REPLACEMENT. UNSURE OF EXACT CAUSE OF FAILURE, POTENTIALLY ROAD IMPERFECTIONS OR CURB BUMPS, (NO DAMAGE TO ALLOY WHEELS) . BOTH HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED RAMIFICATIONS IF HIGH SPEED COULD BE SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE. THESE "LOW PROFILE" TIRES ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND CAN BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE REPLACED.*AK
VEHICLE HAS HAD TWO TIRE FAIL SINCE PURCHASED. *MR THE FAILURE OCCURRED IN THE SIDEWALL. THE VEHICLE ONLY DRIVEN IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND AT LOW SPEEDS. RELATED TO ODI#10081223. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED. *SC
THIS OCCURS ON A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH A 3.0L V6 AND A 5 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ON OCCASION WHEN SLOWING FROM A SPEED OF 20 MPH OR MORE, THE DRIVER PRESSES THE ACCELERATOR AND CAR HESITATES AND STUMBLES. BECAUSE OF NO RESPONSE, THE DRIVER WILL FLOOR THE ACCELERATOR, THERE WILL BE A 1-2 SECOND DELAY AND THEN THE ENGINE WILL RACE TO 5000 RPM AND THE CAR WILL TAKE OFF. DEALER HAS LOOKED AT THE CAR TWICE AND SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. TOYOTA AND THE DEALER STATE THAT THE CAR IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED AND THIS DELAY IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR. IF IT IS NORMAL, WHY DOESN'T IT DO IT ALL THE TIME? *LA
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. AFTER APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB

THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEFECTIVE. THE BRAKES DID NOT GRABB LIKE THEY SHOULD, THEY ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR. MANUFACTURER WAS NO NOTIFIED, HOWEVER THE DEALER FOUND NO DEFECTS.*AK
REAR WINDOW IS BLOCKED BY THE HEAD REST. ALSO, THE WHEN THE SUN VISOR IS DOWN, IT BLOCKS THE REAR WINDOW . MANUFACTURE STATES THAT THE DESIGN MEETS DOT COMPLIANCE.*AK THE CONSUMER ALSO INDICATED THAT EH REAR WINDOW APPEARED TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY SMALL THAN PRIOR YEAR SOLARA CONVERTIBLE. *NM
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SWAYED TO THE LEFT. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, TIRES WERE ROTATED, AND ALIGNMENT DONE. HOWEVER, VEHICLE WAS STILL SWAYING TO THE LEFT. MANUFACTURER WILL NOT ASSIST.*AK
WHILE BRAKING UPHILL RPMS ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS RESET. NONE OF THE REPAIRS HAVE REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,835. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. CAR'S DESIGN MAKES CHANGING LANES HIGHLY DANGEROUS: THE BACK WINDOW IS EXTREMELY SMALL AND NARROW, AND THE TWO BACK SEATS HAVE UNUSUALLY HIGH HEAD RESTS WHICH COMPLETELY BLOCK THE SMALL WINDOW.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY FAILED. VEHICLE TOOK LONGER TO STOP. AS RESULT, IT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AND WAS SIDE SWIPED BY ANOTHER. TIRE WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT RESET. CONTINUALLY GOES OFFAND COMES BACK ON, RESET PROCEDURES ARE COMPLICATED AND DO NOT WORK. HAVE CHECKED TIRE PRESSURE, NOW SIMPLY DISREGARDING THE TIRE LIGHT.
HI -- I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA I PURCHASED FROM IRA TOYOTA. THE CAR HAS HAD A CONSTANT PULLING TO THE LEFT AND THEY HAVE REPURCHASED 1 CAMRY SOLARA FROM ME ALREADY. AFTER STATING THAT IT WAS "1 BAD CAR" AND THAT THEY "HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SPORT SUSPENSION", I PURCHASED AN SLE WITHOUT THE SPORT SUSPENSION. I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT IS THE 'CROWN OF THE ROAD', NOT THE CAR. THE CAR WILL GO FROM THE LEFT LANE TO THE MEDIAN STRIP IN LESS THAN 1 SECOND AND THEY SAID THAT HAPPENS WITH 'ALL CARS'. I HAVE DRIVEN 4 SEPARATE CARS, 2 OF WHICH I HAVE HAD TO RENT BECAUSE TOYOTA WON'T/CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE CAR IS UNSAFE FOR HIGHWAY TRAVEL. PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN HAVE THE CAR FIXED OR, AGAIN, REPURCHASED. IT SEEMS UNFAIR THAT LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ON VARIOUS WEB SITES (TOYOTA'S OWN, EDMUNDS.COM, YAHOO.COM) HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT REQUIRED TO FIX IT AND CAN BLAME THE 'ROAD CROWN' FOR THE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CAR.NM

APPEARS TO HAPPEN AFTER A QUICK ROLLING STOP AND WHEN THE <A TRUE;">AIR CONDITIONER</A> HAVING TO WORK. CAR IS UNPREDICTABLE, IT WILL START MOVING AFTER THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLE NATURE OF THROTTLE HESITATION. *JB CAR ALSO HUNTS FOR GEARS AT SLOWER SPEEDS CAUSING UNCOMFORTABLE RIDE AS THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES AFTER THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE DEALER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH ALL THE V6 CAMRY'S WHICH THE DEALER COULD NOT FIX. I WAS ASKED TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR FURTHER TESTING, WHICH I DID, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE VEHICLE. *JB THE VEHICLE JERKED THE CONSUMER AROUND AS GEARS WHERE SHIFTED. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SEARCHES FOR THE RIGHT GEAR WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS. *TC *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT SEAT BELT STRAPS GRADUALLY TIGHTENED WHILE IN USE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, WHO COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT WAS CAUSING THIS NOR COULD HE DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SHE PURCHASED SOME SAFETY CLIPS FOR THE SEAT BELTS. THE CLIPS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SHE HEARD ABOUT A RECALL ON A SIMILAR PROBLEM, BUT WAS NOT SURE IF THIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED. VEHICLE IS A NEW 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY LE WITH 190 MILES ON IT WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE WITHOUT TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY ACCELERATED AND TRAVELLED ABOUT TWO CAR LENGHTS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT.*AK
ON MAY 15, 2004 I WAS INVOLVED IN A 1 PERSON AUTO ACCIDENT IN MY 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 30 DAYS FROM THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT FROM A CERTIFIED USED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (STONE MOUNTAIN TOYOTA). MY CAR SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AS I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO PULL OUT OF A STORE PARKING LOT. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY BRAKING AND ENDED UP ROLLING OVER AN EMBANKMENT AND ON TO RAILROAD TRACKS. I WAS WEARING MY SAFETY BELT AT THE TIME. I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND AWAY FROM IT AS I FEARED IT WAS GOING TO BLOW UP. I HAD NO IDEA OF WHAT WENT WRONG AS IT ACCELERATED SO FAST. OBVIOUSLY, I WAS TERRIFIED AND REMAIN EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY DAMAGED FROM THIS EVENT. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ER VIA AMBULANCE AND WAS EVALUATED FOR INJURIES. MY MAIN INJURIES WERE GENERAL BODY, HEAD, NECK, AND BACK PAIN. SUBSEQUENTLY, A LUMBAR FRACTURE WAS FOUND YEARS LATER ON A SCAN FOR ANOTHER MEDICAL ISSUE. I STILL SUFFER FROM LOW BACK PAIN AND THE EVENT HAUNTS ME. ESPECIALLY SINCE I TOLD THE POLICE, AMBULANCE WORKERS, INSURANCE COMPANY, AND THE MANAGERS AT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. NO ONE INVESTIGATED THE ACCIDENT FURTHER AS IF I WAS NOT MAKING ANY SENSE. I ALSO MISSED A FEW DAYS OF WORK AND WAGES BECAUSE I AM AN RN AND COULDN'T PERFORM MY JOB DUE TO THE PAIN. I AM REALLY UPSET ABOUT THE RECALLS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T INCLUDE EARLIER TOYOTA MODELS AND I REPORTED THIS INCIDENT 6 YEARS AGO WHEN I HAD MY ACCIDENT AND NOTHING WAS DONE. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.. *TR

I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 5/10/04 IN WHICH I WAS HIT IN THE FRONT OF MY CAMRY BY ANOTHER VEHICLE NEARLY HEAD ON. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 35 AND 50 MPH ON IMPACT AND NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA CONVERTABLE. WHEN THE TOP IS UP THE TWO REAR SEAT HEADRESTS BLOCK VISABILITY OUT OF THE REAR VEIW WINDOW BY AT LEAST 60%. THE REAR WINDOW IS SMALL TO START WITH, LIMITING VISABILITY, THE HEADRESTS REALLY COMPOUND THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORP ABOUT THE POSSIBLE REMOVAL OF THE HEADRESTS. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THE HEADRESTS WERE FIXED AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND A VALID SAFETY ISSUE, THE REASON FOR MY E-MAIL. *AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON WET ROAD CONDITIONS AND ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING TO THE LEFT THEN TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT TURNED THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND MAINTAINED A SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE BETWEEN THE OTHER VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN THE ROAD WAS WET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY FILED COMPLAINTS FOR SIMILAR MODELS SHE OWNED UNDER THE SAME MANUFACTURER REGARDING BRAKE FAILURES; SHE COULD NOT RECALL THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF THE VEHICLES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
