I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA CAMERY. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES EVERY SINCE I GOT THE CAR. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DON'T WORK THE WAY THAT THEY SHOULD. WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE HARD LIKE YOU WOULD IN AN EMERGENCY THE CAR WILL NOT STOP AT ALL ITS AS IF THE BRAKES GO COMPLETELY OUT. BUT IF YOU PRESS THEM SLOWLY THEY WORK FINE. BUT IF YOU GIVE A QUICK PRESS THEY DON'T WORK. THIS HAS RESULTED IN ME ALMOST HAVING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. I DID HAVE AN ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER 2006. WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES THEY COMPLETELY GAVE OUT AND I HIT SOMEONE FROM BEHIND. *TR
CAR SURGES (SUDDENLY INCREASES SPEED) IN REVERSE 10-30 SECONDS FOLLOWING COLD START. THIS OCCURS DURING SLOW, BRAKE CONTROLLED, BACKING FROM MY HOME GARAGE. WHEN SURGE OCCURS, TACHOMETER GOES UP A FEW HUNDRED RPM AND I HAVE TO QUICKLY APPLY MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE CAR FROM SURGING BACK AND GOING OUT OF CONTROL OR HITTING SOMETHING. THE A/C-HEATER IS NOT TURNED ON WHEN PROBLEM OCCURS SO IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE THE A/C SOLENOID INCREASING THE ENGINE RPM. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS OFF. THIS CONDITION IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN PREPARED TO EXPECT IT. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS EVERY TIME I START THE CAR COLD. I HAVE ESTIMATED THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS BELOW AND HAVE PROVIDED TODAY'S DATE AS THE LATEST DATE OF INCIDENT. I ONLY HAVE INFORMATION ON THIS HAPPENING IN "REVERSE" BECAUSE EVERY TIME I START MY CAR COLD, IT IS IN THE GARAGE AND I HAVE TO BACK OUT. *JB SEE ALSO 10295531, SAME COMPLAINANT. * DSY
MY 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY SE IS EXPERIENCING THROTTLE & SHIFT LAG. I'VE TRIED MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ONLY TO HAVE MY VEHICLE NOT RESPOND. THE CRAZY REVVING FROM THE VEHICLE NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY IS ALSO CAUSING A SUBSTANTIAL DECREASE IN FUEL ECONOMY (FROM 24 MPG TO 18 MPG). TOYOTA HAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME. *NM
THROTTLE LAG AT LOW SPEED AND FROM STOP IS INCONSISTENT AND HAS BEEN THE CAUSE FOR SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED; DEALER INVESTIGATED; STATES THIS IS NORMAL AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE, THAT LAG IS "ACCEPTABLE". SOME INSTANCES HAVE BEEN SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE ACTUAL THROTTLE RESPONSE. DRIVER HAS TO USE HARDER ACCELERATION TO COMPENSATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF BUT DECLINES TO ADMIT IT IS A PROBLEM. DRIVER IS VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE WILL BE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT RENTED A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY FROM A RENTAL FACILITY. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD ROAR AND INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BUILDING AND SUSTAINED A LACERATED LIP AND WHIPLASH TO THE NECK AND BACK. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR EMERGENCY ORAL SURGERY. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE RENTAL FACILITY WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR THE CRASH. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN I PRESSED ON MY BRAKES WHILE TURNING INTO A STORE RONT MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP. MY CAR RAN INTO THE STOREFRONT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE EXCESSIVELY ACCELERATED WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT 2 MPH. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE MOTOR WOULD ROAR UP WHEN PUT INTO GEAR AND WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO HEAR THE RESULTS OF THE EXAMINATION. THEIR WAS AN ODI #10150350 THAT APPLIED TO THIS COMPLAINT PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL MODULE.
CAR HAS ON TWO OCCASIONS, SURGED FORWARD WHEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO STOP IT. *JB
FRONT-END OF MY 2002 CAMRY WAS DESTROYED IN A FRONT-END COLLISION. BOTH AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY HEADRESTS OBSTRUCTED THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BACK THE VEHICLE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR WHILE DRIVING AND LOOKING TO PASS A VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THIS WAS A NORMAL DESIGN AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO USE THE REARVIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS FOR VIEWING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. UPDATED 10/18/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, WITH PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR, THE PEDAL PUSHED DOWN INTO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LURCHED BACKWARDS CRASHING INTO A TREE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED, THE OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEATBELTS. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. THE POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO AWAIT INSPECTION BY A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE.
CAR HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, HAS DONE IT SINCE NEW ONLY GOTTEN A BIT WORSE NOW THAT IT IS OLDER. APPARENTLY THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS SO WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL AND WHY HASNT TOYOTA FIXED IT?
WITHIN THE PAST 6 MONTHS, I'VE NOTICED A LAG BETWEEN THE TIME I DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGING. THIS MAINLY OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS, HOWEVER, IT DOES OCCUR WHEN DECELERATING (WHEN APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT FOR EXAMPLE) AND I HAVE TO ACCELERATE IF THE LIGHT CHANGES. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND TALKED TO A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. THE REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THAT THE "SHIFT POINTS" WERE FAULTY AND THAT TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT AVALON'S HAVE THE PROBLEM TOO. HE ADVISED ME TO WAIT A FEW MONTHS FOR DIRECTION FROM TOYOTA. I CONTACTED TOYOTA TO CONFIRM WHAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD CONVEYED. TOYOTA INDICATED THAT THERE WERE NO SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM OR THAT A PROBLEM OF THIS NATURE EXISTED. *JB
MY 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY LE SEEMS TO HAVE A FRONT END PROBLEM. I'VE TRIED TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP FIX THE ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE THE TIRES TWICE, BUT NOTHING HAS IMPROVED. THE CAR DOESN'T TRACK VERY WELL AND IT TENDS TO VIBRATE ABOVE 60 MPH. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE OFTEN BECAUSE IT REQUIRES CONSTANT ATTENTION TO STAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE. DID TOYOTA DESIGN OR ASSEMBLE SOMETHING IMPROPERLY? *JB
06/07 CAMRY V6 AND 07 AVALON HAVE A 1 SECOND DELAY OR LONGER ON ACCELERATION. I FEEL THIS DELAY IS VERY DANGEROUS. THIS OCCURS AT ANY SPEED AND IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU PRESS ON ACCELERATOR FARTHER DOWN THAN REQUIRED BECAUSE OF THE DELAY AND THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AFTER THE DELAY. MY DEALER SAYS ALL 5 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION CARS FOR TOYOTA HAVE THIS DELAY AND THEY CANNOT FIX IT. MY DEALER IS NOT DISCLOSING THIS TO CUSTOMERS BUT WILL GLADLY ADDRESS THIS IF ASKED. MY DEALER HAS AGREED TO REPLACE MY 06 CAMRY WITH AN 07 BECAUSE I FEEL THE 80 HP MORE ON THE 07 AND MORE AIR BAGS ARE BETTER THAN THE 06. THE DELAY IS ALSO ON THE 07 CAMRY V6. *NM
I HAVE A LATE 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT HAS STANDARD STEREO OPTION WITH CD AND WITH VOLUME AND CHANNEL SELECTION ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE NOTICED AT LEAST TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS THE STEREO TURNS ON BY ITSELF. I TYPICALLY DO NOT LISTEN TO THE MUSIC AND KEEP THE RADIO OFF. *TR
I AM WRITING ABOUT MY CURRENT CAR, A TOYOTA 2006 CAMRY, BECAUSE IT RELATES TO AN ACCIDENT I HAD WITH MY 2005 CAMRY. I AM AWARE THAT TOYOTA HAS NOT RECALLED THE 2006 MODEL. WHEN I START UP MY 2006 CAMRY AFTER IT HAS BEEN IN PARK, WITH THE ENGINE OFF, FOR AS LITTLE AS A 5 MINUTE STOP OR OVERNIGHT IN THE GARAGE, WHEN I SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND RELEASE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, THE CAR MOVES BY ITSELF, FAIRLY RAPIDLY, WITHOUT MY FOOT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER ABOUT 3/4 OF A MILE ALONG THE ROAD DURING WHICH I ALTERNATELY APPLY THE BRAKE AND LIFT MY FOOT FROM IT, STILL NOT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR FINALLY BEGINS TO OPERATE NORMALLY REQUIRING FOR THE FIRST MOMENT SOME PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN I RETURN HOME, REGARDLESS OF HOW FAR OR LONG I HAVE DRIVEN, AFTER PAUSING TO OPEN THE GARAGE DOOR (BY REMOTE) I EASE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CAR GLIDES INTO THE GARAGE ON IS OWN. WHILE I AM ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR SAFELY SO FAR I AM UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE SITUATION BECAUSE I HAD A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH MY 2005 CAMRY IN AUGUST, 2006. IT HAPPENED AS I EMERGED FROM A CAR WASH. WHEN I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE FROM NEUTRAL, THE CAR ACCELERATED ITSELF AND STUCK IN HIGH SPEED, AT LEAST 80 MILES PER HOUR. I AM SURE THAT I TRIED TO STOP IT BY APPLYING THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY AND CERTAINLY IN THE END BEFORE I PURPOSELY CRASHED INTO A TREE AFTER A TERRIFYING DRIVE DODGING PEOPLE, CARS, AND BUILDINGS. I SURVIVED ALTHOUGH SUSTAINING A BACK INJURY WHICH NECESSITATED AN OPERATION, BUT THE CAR DID NOT. I DID NOT COMMUNICATE WITH TOYOTA ABOUT IT AND DO NOT KNOW IF MY INSURANCE COMPANY DID. LAST WEEK I TOOK MY 2006 CAMRY TO MY TOYOTA DEALER AND DESCRIBED WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE CAR AND THEY ASSURED ME THAT THIS "INDEPENDENT" ACCELERATION IS NORMAL AND INTENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
THE AIRBAGS ON MY TOYOTA-CAMRY- LE 2006 DID NOT DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE INCIDENT SITE IF REQUIRED. MY WIFE WAS INJURED. I BELIEVE IF THE AIR BAG WOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, THE INJURY MAY HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT HE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,400 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,840.
I WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON THE 210 EAST NEAR PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, AND UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITION, THE VEHICLE?S BRAKES FAILED NEAR THE MOUNTAIN STREET EXIT. MY IMMEDIATE REACTION WAS TO USE THE HAND BRAKE, AFTER WHICH I PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESTORE THE MECHANISM. I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN DOING SO. TURNING ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS, I TRAVELED FOR ABOUT 2 MILES, GOING THROUGH A TUNNEL, AND TOOK THE FIRST EXIT, LAKE AVENUE, OFF THE FREEWAY. I LEFT VEHICLE AT A FRIEND?S PLACE CLOSE TO THE EXIT. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RESTORE THE BRAKES ALL ALONG, THE CAR FINALLY DID STOP ON A SIDE STREET NEAR THE EXIT. I WAS TRANSPORTING THREE ADULTS AND A CHILD IN THE CAR AT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A CRASH, AND ACCORDINGLY THERE WERE NO DEATHS OR INJURIES. THIS IS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF AN INCIDENT OF THIS NATURE. I AM THE FIRST OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM FRONTIER TOYOTA IN VALENCIA, CALIFORNIA. ACTING ON THE ADVICE OF THE SERVICE REPRESENTATION AT FRONTIER TOYOTA, WHO INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A WARRANTY ON IT THAT WOULD COVER THE TOWING, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON INSPECTION, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE TOWING, AND THAT THE TOWING CHARGES OF $264.00 HAD TO BE PAID FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER INSPECTED, AND THE BRAKES WERE CERTIFIED AS ?IN GOOD CONDITION? BY A MECHANIC AT FRONTIER TOYOTA. THE MECHANIC?S RECORDS THAT WERE FURNISHED BY THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE BRAKES HAD WORK DONE ON THEM. THE MECHANIC CERTIFIED THAT THE BRAKES PADS WERE GOOD, WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE INHERENT PROBLEM THAT EXISTS WITH THE ENTIRE BREAKING SYSTEM. THE BREAKS, AS I EXPERIENCED IT WHILE DRIVING PROBABLY HAD AN AIR LEAK IN THE PEDAL. I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICE PROVIDED AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE BASIC OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
CONSUMER WOULD LIKE INFORMATION REGARDING 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SYSTEM. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HIS WIFE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, MOST OF THE TIME THE LIGHT INDICATES THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS OFF. IF SHE RAISES HER FEET OFF THE FLOOR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, ABOUT 3/4 OF THE TIME THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WILL BE ON. THE CONSUMER STATED IT IS HIS BELIEF THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SHOULD BE ON WITHOUT TAKING SPECIAL MEASURES. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THERE WAS EXCESSIVE BRAKING DISTANCE RESULTING IN TWO REAR END COLLISIONS. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE CAUSED INJURIES TO THE OTHER DRIVER AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP EACH TIME FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
ACCELERATION WHILE PRESSING ON BRAKE PEDAL. UNABLE TO STOP CAR FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. *TR
NEW TOYOTA SOLARA. VEHICLE PURCHASED MAY 30 2006. FRONT BUMPER FELL OFF THE CAR ON JULY 7, 2006. DEALER NOTICED A VERY SMALL DEPRESSION NEAR WHEEL WELL, AND SAYS THAT SOMEONE MAY HAVE BUMPED THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT. REFERRED ME TO PRIVATE BODY SHOP WHERE I WAS CHARGED $586.00. DIRECTOR OF LOCAL AAA INSPECTED CAR. THEY BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE BUMPER SHOULD HAVE DETACHED. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT FELL OFF IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT ON THE FWY. AAA REQUESTED THAT I FILE NTSB REPORT, AND INSURANCE ADJUSTER IS EXAMINING THE CAR AND PHOTOGRAPHING THE BUMPER, WHICH WAS HELD TOGETHER BY TWO LITTLE PLASTIC BRACKETS. BODY SHOP SAYS THAT SOME OF THE NEW TOYOTAS HAVE BODY DEFECTS - THINGS THAT COME LOOSE. HE IS WONDERING IF THERE IS A PACKAGING AND SHIPPING PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE BUMPERS TO GET LOOSE. HE ADDED 6 CLIPS AND BRACKETS TO THE BUMPER. THE NEW FRONT BUMPER IS NOW MUCH MORE STABLE THAN THE ORIGINAL BACK BUMPER. *JB
2006 TOYOTA CAMRY'S STEERING WHEEL PULLS TO THE LEFT. *KB ***NAR*** THE STEERING WHEEL PULLS WHILE IN CURSES. THE CONSUMER HAS TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL FIRMLY TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. THE VEHICLE PULLS WHILE DRIVING ON BUMPY ROADS AND MORE FREQUENTLY ON THE HIGHWAY. SOMETIMES IT ALSO PULLS WHILE BRAKING. THE VEHICLE SEEM TO ALWAYS BE PARKED AT AN ANGLE, ALTHOUGH THE CONSUMER PULLS STRAIGHT INTO PARKING SPACES. THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS STIFF AS IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH POWER STEERING WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS. THE CONSUMER HAS ALSO NOTICED A NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHEN TURNING INTO TIGHT SPOTS. *NM
I HAVE NOTICED MY 2006 CAMRY XLE HAS NOT STOPPED AS QUICKLY AS THE 1995 V6 CAMRY I PREVIOUSLY OWNED. THE INSTANCE THIS HAS BEEN MOST DANGEROUS IS WHEN I HAD 3 GRANDCHILDREN IN THE BACK OF MY CAR AND A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT. I APPLIED BRAKES WHILE GOING ABOUT 45 MPH BEHIND A FLATBED TRUCK. THE BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE QUICKLY ENOUGH, AND WE ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, IF I TRY TO STOP QUICKLY AT A YELLOW LIGHT, THE CAR CANNOT STOP QUICKLY ENOUGH. I END UP EITHER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION OR RUNNING A LIGHT TO AVOID BEING HIT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 1250 MILES. *JB
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY WHICH DIED WHEN DRIVING TO WORK ON FRIDAY 6/26/09. I WAS IN A CURVE AT 45 MPH AND THE STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF AND THE ENGINE DIED AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS TRYING TO PASS A CYCLIST AND NEARLY HIT A GRAVEL TRUCK AND THE CYCLIST WHEN TRYING TO STEER THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND STOP IT. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT NOTICED A RATTLE AND HEARD SQUEAKY NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DASH AND CENTER CONSOLE OF THE 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY ON THE DAY OF PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE WILL DECELERATE WHILE DRIVING AND VIBRATE WHEN FIRST TURNED ON. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DASH AFTER KEEPING THE VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEKS. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT SEE ANY WORK WAS DONE ON THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE STILL OCCURRED . I BOUGHT MY 2006 CAMRY IN OCTOBER 2005 AND HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO CLAREMONT TOYOTA, THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR, OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND BRAKING PROBLEM SINCE ABOUT 2006. 2006 CAMRY PROBLEM 1: -- SYMPTOM: WHEN FILLING UP THE TANK AND SETTING THE GAS PUMP HANDLE TO AUTOMATICALLY FILL THE TANK, (I.E., SETTING THE SWITCH ON THE HANDLE), CANNOT BE DONE (THE PUMP SWITCH POPS). (THIS PROBLEM REPEATED AT MULTIPLE DIFFERENT STATIONS OVER SEVERAL CONSECUTIVE FILL-UPS.) AFTER A DIAGNOSTIC, THE DEALER SAID THE CANISTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ANOTHER GAS STATION ATTENDANT SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON MANY LATE MODEL CAMRYS (HIS STATION IS DOWN THE BLOCK FROM A DEALER SO HE SAYS HE HAS SEEN A FEW OF THESE), CAUSED WHEN THE TANK IS OVERFILLED AND FLOODING GAS INTO THE CANISTER, RUINING IT, AND ULTIMATELY CAUSING THE FILL-UP PROBLEMS DESCRIBED ABOVE. ITS SCHEDULED TO BE FIXED TOMORROW, BUT WONDERING IF THIS IS A DESIGN/PRODUCT DEFECT, THAT WILL REOCCUR IN THE FUTURE (ESP AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDS.) FOR NOW, I AM SO DOUBT ABOUT THE TOYOTA AND THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE. IT SEEMS THE TECHNICIANS ARE NOT TRAINED TO BE PROFESSIONAL TO REPAIR TOYOTA CARS OR THEY DID NOT TRY TO CHECK MY CAR. I AM WONDERING IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER WAYS TO CHANGE MY CAR. LIKE I MENTIONED ABOUT MY CAR, I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE IT TO THE ANOTHER NEW CAR, IF POSSIBLE.
