DRIVER WAS PASSING ANOTHER CAR AT ~65MPH AND WHEN THE DRIVER TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE GAS THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES, WHICH SLOWED THE CAR SOME, BUT NOT SUFFICIENTLY AGAINST THE ENGINE (NOW CLOSE TO FULL THROTTLE). DRIVER THEN IMMEDIATELY PUT THE ENGINE INTO NEUTRAL, HOWEVER THIS DID NOT DISENGAGE THE ENGINE. DRIVER WAS THEN FORCED TO USE THE IGNITION TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND FINALLY IT STARTED COSTING TO A STOP WHILE IN NEUTRAL. ASSUMING IT WAS SOME TRANSIENT FAULT, THE DRIVER THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE WHILE COASTING IN NEUTRAL AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN ACCELERATING AGAIN, DRIVER THEN AGAIN IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE IGNITION TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. *TR
I WAS GETTING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. I STARTED TO DECELERATE AND I LOST A MAJORITY OF MY BRAKE POWER. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH CAME ON, AND MY DISPLAY SAID CHECK VSC SYSTEM. I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER WAS SLAMMING ON MY BRAKE SINCE I HAD VERY LITTLE BRAKE POWER AT THIS POINT. I TURNED OFF MY CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON SEVERAL TIMES. THE LIGHTS STAYED ILLUMINATED. I WAS 1/2 A MILE FROM WORK AT THIS POINT. I DROVE WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND TOOK IT SLOW TO WORK. WHEN I GOT TO WORK AND PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT, THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. *TR
TOYOTA HYBRIDS HAVE A BRAKING DEVICE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS DEVICE CAN BE APPLIED AT ANY TIME. WHEN USING THE TRANSMISSION BRAKE THE VEHICLES SPEED IS REDUCED AT A CONSIDERABLE RATE. WHEN BRAKING USING THIS METHOD THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON. THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THE VEHICLE IS BRAKING. I USE THIS METHOD ON A ROUTINE BASIS AND WAS INFORMED OF NO BRAKE LIGHTS BY ANOTHER DRIVER. I USE THIS SYSTEM OF BRAKING WHILE GOING DOWNHILLS IN THE CITY AND DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR A SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO ADDRESS THE INTERNAL MALFUNCTION OF THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN THREE TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE CAMPAIGN ZE1. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING LIGHT, ABS WARNING LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT, AND SLIP INDICATOR CONTINUED TO RANDOMLY FLASH AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PUSH BUTTON START WOULD NOT PROPERLY FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY AND THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE NUMEROUS TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES THAT THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN DID NOT PREVENT THE FAILURE FROM OCCURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT REMEDY FOR THE CONDITION TO ADDRESS THE FAILURE AND RECEIVED NO RESOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,355.
DASHBOARD IS MELTING CAUSING GLARE INTO FRONT WINDSHIELD. *TR
STARTED THE CAR AND NOTICED THE ABS AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WERE ON. TACHOMETER WAS JUMPING BETWEEN 0 AND 1000RPM. AIR CONDITIONER WASN'T WORKING. DROVE THE CAR A BIT WITH NO CHANGE EXCEPT THE TACHOMETER JUMPING A BIT HIGHER THAN 1 AND DROPPING BACK TO 0. SPEEDOMETER WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL. AFTER A BIT MORE DRIVING, THE ABS AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND THE GAUGES RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. AIR CONDITIONER ALSO STARTED WORKING. SINCE THIS INITIAL PROBLEM, THE GAUGES AND LIGHTS HAVE BEEN OPERATING WITH THE SAME INCONSISTENCY (JUMPING TACHOMETER, SPEEDOMETER SITTING AT 0, ABS AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHTS ON).
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND MY DASHBOARD IS ALL STICKY AND SHINY...TRIED TO GO TO THE DEALER...AND DEALER CLAIMED IT'S NOT A RECALL...ALL THE DUST, DIRT AND DEBRIS FROM THE OUTSIDE HAS STUCK (HARBORED) RIGHT ONTO MY STICKY DASHBOARD, I HAVE TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO CLEAN IT BUT ALL ELEMENTS GETS STUCK ONTO DASHBOARD....WITH ALL THIS BEING SAID, I BELIEVE THIS HAS CAUSED SOME BREATHING ISSUES FOR ME WHEN I DRIVE. (I HAVE SEVERE ALLERGIES)...SO YES IN THIS CASE, IT CERTAINLY WARRANTS A HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERN. I WOULD LIKE TO ESCALATE THIS ISSUE. THANKS, *TR

LETTER FROM SENATOR WARNER ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE TOYOTA WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS NOTIFIED OF A CONDITION CONCERNING THE DASHBOARD AND IT WOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *JB
ABS ACTUATOR PUMP ASSEMBLY PROBLEM. 89000 MILES ON CAR 2007 CAMRY HYBRID VSC CONTROL WARNING COMES ON. THE DEALER SAID I NEEDED NEW BRAKES. GOT NEW BRAKES AND STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN BACKING UP THE BRAKES LOCK AND THE CAR JERKS AS IF THE BRAKES WERE HIT HARD. THE NEW BRAKES ALSO ARE MAKING THE SAME NOISE AS THE ORIGINAL BRAKES. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE FOR MYSELF AND MY GRANDCHILDREN WHO ARE WITH ME IN THIS CAR. *TR
VEHICLE LEAKS OR BURNS OIL IN EXCESS FROM UNKNOWN LOCATION OR UNDISCLOSED LOCATION BY MANUFACTURER. NO OIL VISIBLE ON GROUND UNDERNEATH CAR . ENGINE WAS NOT GETTING ADEQUATE LUBRICATION DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND THUS CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE ON FREEWAY AND HAD TO BE PULLED OVER PUTTING VEHICLE OWNER AT RISK AND OTHER DRIVERS ON ROAD IN DANGER. THE ENGINE IS NOW DAMAGED AND IS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED DESPITE PROPER MAINTENANCE AND RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGES AS PER DEALERSHIP AND OWNERS MANUAL. THE ENGINE NOW HAS TO BE REPLACED. THIS LEAKAGE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OVER HUNDREDS OF UNSATISFIED CUSTOMERS AND HAS PURPOSELY BEEN DISREGARDED BY MANUFACTURER DESPITE THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS RECEIVED AND MADE BY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS. MANY OF WHICH SUFFERED LIKE THIS OWNER AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A NEW ENGINE DESPITE THIS BEING A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT HAS BEEN NEGLECTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT ~35 MPH TOWARD AN INTERSECTION OF STOPPED CARS. I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BEGIN TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT AND PUSHED TO THE FLOOR, WITH LITTLE OR NO SLOWING OF THE VEHICLE. AT THE SAME TIME THE DASHBOARD LIT UP A LOT OF WARNING LIGHTS, I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO CHECK THE WARNING LIGHTS. I SWERVED INTO THE TURN LANE WHERE THERE WERE NO CARS AND BEGAN TO MAKE A WIDE LEFT. I AGAIN BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THIS TIME THE BRAKES WORKED. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND PARKED. THE WARNING SCREEN SAID SOMETHING LIKE "CHECK VCS SYSTEM". "BRAKES" WARNING LIGHT AND "ABS" WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED WITH OTHERS WHICH I DID NOT TAKE NOTE OF. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND CALLED FOR A TOW TO THE TOYOTA DEALER. TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AGAIN SHOWED NO WARNINGS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE ANTI- BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ALL THE VARIOUS GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STARTED TO FLUCTUATE. IN ADDITION, THE AIR CONDITIONER STARTED TO BLOW HOT AIR AND THE BRAKES HESITATED TO RESPOND. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ANTI-BRAKE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY CE. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD WAS GETTING STICKY, GUMMY AND DISINTEGRATING. I HAVE ALMOST 110,000 MILES ON IT. I WANT TOYOTA TO FIX THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT SINCE ITS GETTING VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON A SUNNY DAY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,700.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY IS VERY STICKY AND SHINY AND IT REFLECTS A SHINY SHADOW WHEN THE SUN OR NIGHT LIGHTS HIT IT. IT CAUSES A REFLECTION AND IT MAKES IT HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALL BRAKE LIGHTS LIT UP ON DASH, "VSC CHECK SYSTEM" MESSAGE SHOWED. BUT THE CAR SEEMED TO BRAKE FINE, UNTIL I WENT TO PARK. THE BRAKE WENT COMPLETELY SOFT AND THE CAR CONTINUED FORWARD MOTION UNTIL RUNNING INTO THE CURB. UPON RESTARTING THE CAR ALL THE LIGHTS WERE BACK TO NORMAL. IT HAPPENED AGAIN LATER IN THE DAY, LIGHTS COME ON, BRAKES FAIL. LUCKILY I WAS GOING VERY SLOWLY AND ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY PUMPING THE BRAKES. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VCS SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS GO OFF ON THE CAR, INCLUDING THE BRAKE LIGHT THE ABS LIGHT AND THEN THE BRAKES FAIL. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON THURSDAY, NOV. 6, AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT SINCE THE COMPUTER DIDN'T REGISTER A CODE. THE BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN ON SATURDAY, NOV, 8. AND THEN THE VCS SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS WENT OFF WHEN I STARTED MY CAR ON TUESDAY, NOV. 11. AND THE BRAKES FAILED. I CANNOT DRIVE THIS CAR AROUND LIKE THIS NOT KNOWING WHEN THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO FAIL. IT'S NOT SAFE, AND I CAN'T GET ANY HELP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I DON'T HAVE THE OPTION OF NOT DRIVING INTO WORK. I NEED A CAR. THIS CAR IS SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE. *TR
I CAN NOT STOP THE CAR ON RED LIGHT OR ANY STOP SIGN, THERE IS A ABS SIGN, THEY SUPPOSE TO FIX IT LAST MONTHS, I WENT TO THE DEALER THEN THEY REPLACE SOME THING. I AM WORRY. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MERGE INTO A PARKING AREA AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
THE VEHICLE IS SLUGGISH OCCASIONALLY WHEN ACCELERATING. THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AT FIRST AND NOW ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THAT IT IS THE BATTERY PACK. THE COST THEY QUOTED IS $4000. LAST MONTH I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ACTUATOR AND NOW ITS THE BATTERY PACK. THIS TOYOTA HAS BEEN VERY UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE. I HAD ISSUES WITH BRAKING LAST MONTH AND NOW IT IS HARD TO KNOW IF THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE WHEN NEEDED. TOYOTA HAS HAD A VERY POOR RESPONSE TO ANY INQUIRIES. THEY SHOW VERY LITTLE REGARD FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND PREFER TO SETTLE CASES THAN TO BE PROACTIVE AND FIX THEIR UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS PRODUCTS. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS THE DASHBOARD ALL MELTED. THIS CAUSES A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF GLARE WHILE DRIVING DURING THE DAY AND YOU CANT SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. I'VE LOOKED OVER THE INTERNET ASWELL AS TALKED WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THESE CAMRY MODELS. LOOKS LIKE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT THAT TOYOTA DOES NOT WANT TO REPLACE. EVERY YEAR I CONTACT THEM AND ITS THE SAME ANSWER THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. PLEASE HELP !!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO THE MARKET AT 40MPH A SERIES OF WARNINGS CAME ON. THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM", THE BRAKE LIGHT, ABS, SKID, PARKING LIGHT, AND GENERAL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR LOST ITS BRAKING POWER. I HAD TO PUSH DOWN VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE AND USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. SO FAR IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE. ACCORDING TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, THERE IS NO RECORD OF THE ERRORS OR LACK OF BRAKE POWER IN THE COMPUTER AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT. I AM NOT DRIVING IT NOW BECAUSE I AM CONCERNED ABOUT CRASHING. *TR
MELTS IN THE SUN SO.SOFT A FINGERNAIL WILL DAMAGE IT WITH JUST A SIMPLE BRUSH. CANNOT CLEAN BECAUSE OF HOW SOFT IT GETS. CREATES A GLARE WHICH CAUSES BLINDSPOTS. *TR
AS I WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY THE ABS WENT OUT AND ALMOST ALL BRAKE AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AND I LOST ALMOST ALL BRAKING AND STABILITY CONTROL OF THE CAR. I WAS LATER TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR HAD GONE OUT AND NEEDED TO BE CHANGED ($1500). IT TURNS OUT THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND ARE NOT ISSUING A RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT THEYRE OFFERING AN WARRANTY EXTENSION IF YOU KNOW WHAT TO ASK FOR SINCE THEY DON'T VOLUNTEER THE INFORMATION. I CAN'T STRESS HOW DANGEROUS OF A SITUATION THIS HAS LEFT ME WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER YESTERDAY EVENING FROM A TOYOTA DEALER IN FL. I SAW A SHINY BLEMISH ON THE DASHBOARD UP BY THE LEFT FRONT SPEAKER AND THE SALESMAN TOLD US THE DASH WAS PROBABLY DAMAGED BY CLEANING AGENTS. I REALIZED TODAY AFTER THE CAR WAS IN THE SUN THAT THE WHOLE DASH WAS SOFT AND STICKY LIKE IT WAS MELTING AND WAS CAUSING A VERY BLINDING GLARE WHEN FACING CERTAIN DIRECTIONS WITH THE SUN. THE DASH IS SO SHINY THAT IT ALSO REFLECTS ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE WHOLE DASH FEELS LIKE A FLY TRAP AND TO ME SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING BECAUSE OF THE OBSTRUCTION OF DUE TO GLARE. I'VE BEEN READING ONLINE AND APPARENTLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH A MELTING DASHBOARD, NOR IS IT LIMITED TO TOYOTA. IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURED PARTS DEFECT AND SHOULD BE HANDLED OR RECALLED BY THE CAR MANUFACTURE.. ON 10/14/2014 I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER FOR BRAKE RESERVOIR RECALL. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR AND RESET THE BRAKE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL UNIT. ON 10/25/2014 WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AT WHICH TIME THE BRAKE WARNING, ABS WARNING, SLIP INDICATOR AND MASTER CAUTION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES GRABBED (OR MORE ACCURATELY: LOCKED RANDOM WHEELS IN A RANDOM SEQUENCE) CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CAREEN AND SWERVE OUT OF CONTROL. WHEELS APPARENTLY LOCKED UP COMPLETELY BECAUSE THERE WAS SMOKE AND SCREECHING. VEHICLE STOPPED SIDEWAYS IN THE INTERSECTION OUT OF CONTROL. HAD OTHER VEHICLES BEEN PRESENT IN ADJACENT LANES OR AHEAD OF ME THERE WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY BEEN AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD ONGOING BRAKE PROBLEMS INCLUDING A BRAKE ECU REPLACEMENT. AFTER BRAKE ECU REPLACEMENT NO TROUBLE HAS OCCURRED UNTIL THIS EVENT. THE HYBRID BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. WHEN THE HYBRID BATTERY FAILED THE FIRST TIME THE BRAKING SYSTEM ALSO BECAME UNSTABLE AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. THIS INCIDENT ALSO NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND WAS REPORTED TO NTSB. MY EXPERIENCE IS WHEN THERE IS A SYSTEM FAULT RELATED TO THE HYBRID BATTERY OR VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE SYSTEM BECOMES UNSTABLE. *TR

I JUST GOT MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID BACK AFTER THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THIS PAST WEEK. I CALLED MY TOYOTA DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT WHILE I HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION DONE AS WELL AS ANOTHER RECALL DEALING WITH, I BELIEVE, WAS A BRAKE RESERVOIR ISSUE. EARLIER IN THE WEEK I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE TO ASK THEM ABOUT THIS WARNING I GOT AND THEY ASKED ABOUT THE NUMEROUS WARNING LIGHTS THAT CAME ON WHEN THIS HAPPENED ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. AND RECOMMENDED I GET IT CHECKED OUT. I LEFT THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY AND LATER IN THE DAY THEY CAME BACK AND TOLD ME THE ITEMS WERE DONE, WHAT THE EXCEPTION OF THE VSC SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT. THEY SAID THAT MY ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD CALLED TOYOTA ABOUT IT AND WERE AWAITING A CALL BACK FROM THEM. THEY CALLED ME LATER IN THE DAY AND SAID THAT TOYOTA WAS WILLING TO DO THE REPAIR, FREE OF CHARGE, AS A "ONE TIME ONLY" DEAL. I NEVER MADE A BIG DEAL OUT OF THIS SITUATION, NEVER COMPLAINING. IRONICALLY, A WARNING LIGHT DEALING WITH MY TIRE PRESSURE THAT HAS NEVER CAME OFF IS GONE AS WELL AS THOSE OTHER LIGHTS INCLUDING THE (!), ABS, THE "SKIDDING CAR", ETC. AMONG OTHERS ALSO, MY CAMRY HAS OVER 233,000 MILES, NO WHERE NEAR A WARRANTY TYPE REPAIR! THIS MUST BE A PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA IS DEALING WITH, BUT ARE KEEPING IT ON THE "DOWN LOW" TO AVOID A RECALL AND ANOTHER PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT. I AM ALSO FORWARDING THIS TO THE NTSB AND OUT LOCAL TV STATION. I AM SURE THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND HOPE THAT NO ONE IS ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY THIS OBVIOUS FACTORY DEFECT. THIS ENGINE HAS HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, THERE IS NO VISIBLE LEAKS, NO BLUE SMOKE INDICATION, AND OIL LAMP KEEPS GOING OF ON STOPS AND ACCELERATION. WHEN THAT HAPPENS IS BECAUSE THE ENGINE OIL IS LOW, EVEN AFTER REGULAR OIL CHANGES AT MILEAGE AND DATED RECOMMENDATIONS TOYOTA DO HAVE A HISTORY OF THIS IN LATE 90' WITH V6 MODELS DUE TO OIL SLUGGISH AND APPEARS IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS ALSO SAFETY CONCERN CAUSE THE VEHICLE MIGHT CEASED DURING OPERATION AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON OUR NATIONAL HIGHWAYS. ENGINE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET OIL LIGHT START FLICKERING AFTER TURNS AND APPLYING BREAK PEDAL. I PULLED MY VEHICLE OVER AND SHUT DOWN AN ENGINE. AFTER I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL AND IT WAS HARDLY ON A STICK. I DO CHANGE MY OIL REGULARLY, EVERY 5000 MILES. TOYOTA'S OIL LIGHT STARTS FLICKERING WHEN I LOST ALMOST 3 QUARTERS, WHICH COULD LEAD TO ENGINE SHUT DOWN, GLAD I WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY AT THAT TIME AND HAD ENOUGH TIME TO PULL OVER AND TAKE MY CAR TO A MECHANIC TO ADD ENGINE OIL. AS A RESULT OF TOYOTA'S ENGINE ENGINEERING FLOW I LOST ABOUT 3 QUARTERS OF ENGINE OIL IN A LESS THAN 3000. AFTER THIS UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE I HAVE BEEN KEEPING MY EYE ON OIL LEVEL. LATER ON I TOOK A CAR TO AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. AFTER CHECKING A CAR THEY DIAGNOSED AN OIL LEAK, I FIXED IT, HOWEVER PROBLEM STILL EXIST. MY CAR STILL USES WAY TOO MUCH OIL, WHICH MAKE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE SINCE I HAVE SLIGHT IDEA WHEN OIL COULD DISAPPEAR WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE.

AND MY WINDSHIELD AND OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS THE POOR QUALITY OF THE MATERIAL IS THE REASON FOR THIS TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. *TR
MY 2007 SOLARA HAS A VERY STICKY DASH TO THE POINT THAT IF I HAVE ANY PAPER ON IT, I HAVE TO PEEL IT OFF THE DASH WITH PIECES STILL STUCK ON THE DASH. IT IS SO SHINY AND PRODUCES SO MUCH GLARE THAT I HAVE TO WEAR UV SUNGLASSES WHEN DRIVING. THIS IS TERRIBLE. THE AMOUNT OF CRACKS ARE "GROWING" ON THE DASH. THIS WAS VERY NOTICABLE OVER A YEAR AGO, BUT I DIDNT UNDERSTAND THE EXTENT UNTIL I TOOK IT TO MY TOYOTA SERVICE AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. IT WAS REPORTED ON 10/10 & THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPT CAME BACK & TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I CAN TELL YOU THAT THIS IS MY FIFTH TOYOTA, INCLUDING A 98 CAMRY THAT I STILL OWN AND NONE OF THEM EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I AM EXTREMELY DISATISFIED THAT TOYOTA WILL NOW REPAIR THIS POTENTIAL HAZARD AND AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT, AS I NOW REALIZE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
FOR MANY MONTHS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION SOON AFTER CAR BEING SERVICED. LESS THAN 2 WEEKS OIL HAS DEPLETED. CAUSING ENGINE NOT TO START OR STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC THAN CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR A POSSIBLE FIRE BECAUSE NO OIL. THEREFORE AFFECTING OTHER PARTS OF THE CAR EVENTUALLY. TOYOTA HAS RELEASED EXTENDED WARRANTY AND KNEW ABOUT THIS MATTER FOR A FEW YEARS NOW. BUT ARE TELLING ITS CUSTOMERS THEY ARE WORKING ON PUTTING PART TOGETHER TO REPLACE THOSE PARTS AT THEIR EXPENSE. HOWEVER, AS CUSTOMERS, WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED DATES OF WHEN OUR VEHICLES WILL BE FIXED.

THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR IS BROKEN AND HANGING DOWN. TOYOTA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON OUR VISORS TO 7 YEARS FROM PURCHASE WHICH EXPIRED ON 4/27/14. THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR WAS REPLACED DURING THE RECALL BUT NOT THE DRIVER SIDE. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE A NEAR 0% EFFECTIVENESS. I LEAVE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN THE "ALWAYS ON" POSITION, BUT AT NIGHT I OFTEN HAVE TO SWITCH THE HEADLIGHTS OFF AND THEN BACK ON TO VERIFY THEY ARE ON. WHEN THEY ARE ON AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS ARE AT NEAR 0% EFFECTIVENESS.

ON THE ABOVE DATE AND TIME MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE ABOVE VEHICLE WHEN SHE CAME TO A STOP AND HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES. SHE NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS HARD TO STOP AND HEARD A HISSING/AIR SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AREA AND THE DRIVER SIDE AIR VENT. SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND WE DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED US IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE CAR WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITHOUT THAT REPAIR. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAD 80,000 MILES ON IT AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE. *TR
