ALMOST A COLLISION. I HAVE A DASH THAT IS STICKY AND THE GLARE FROM THE SUN REFLECTING OFF THE STICKY DASH IS A VERY BAD SAFETY HAZARD. ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I COULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. IT EVEN HAPPENS ACCIDENT NIGHT WHEN THE STREET LIGHTS REFLECT OFF THE DASH. I HAVE HAD THE CAT IN MOTION AND STABLE AND HAVE HAD NEAR ACCIDENTS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THIS. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. BIT THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY THE MAKER. I HOPE AND PRAY IT DOES NOT TAKE A DEATH OR SEVERAL DEATHS BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN TO GET THIS MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM FIXED. THANK YOU. (XXXXX). WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES DROPPED TO ZERO, THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS, ILLUMINATED, AND THE A/C STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. PROBLEM PERSISTED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND THE TACHOMETER BOUNCED AROUND WHILE THE REST OF THE GAUGES REMAINED AT 0 OR COLD FOR THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE CONNECTED TO TRAVEL SPEED, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATION OR ANY OTHER EXTERNAL VARIATIONS. ALTHOUGH CURRENTLY THIS ERRATIC STATE SEEMS TO BE THE NEW NORMAL AS IT IS IN THIS STATE MORE OFTEN THAN IT WORKS PROPERLY. I DO NOT KNOW THE SPEED THAT I AM TRAVELING NOR DO I KNOW IF MY ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WILL WORK SHOULD I EVER BE IN A SITUATION WHERE IT WOULD BE NEEDED SINCE THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS VERY WORRISOME FOR ME BUT I DO NOT HAVE $500 FOR TOYOTA TO "TRY" AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS I HAVE BEEN QUOTED FOR THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TIME. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT SEEM TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM, ADDITIONALLY, I CANNOT SMOG MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THE SHOPS COMPUTER CANNOT COMMUNICATE WITH MY CAR. *TR
ENGINE STARTED USING ABOUT 3 QUARTS OF OIL AFTER 1500 MILES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A "NORMAL" CONDITION. THE REPLY EVEN NOTED THIS CONDITION IS IDENTIFIED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. I THINK THIS IS A POORLY DESIGNED ENGINE AND TOYOTA KNEW ABOUT THIS DURING INSTALLATION. THEY ARE REFUSING TO RECALL THESE CARS AND MAKE THE PROPER REPAIRS, WHICH COULD BE COSTLY FOR TOYOTA. *TR
I WAS RIDING DOWN THE ROAD. AS I APPROACH THE LIGHT MY CAR WOULDN'T STOP MY BRAKE I BEGAN TO NOTICE BRAKE WERE BEING PUSHED TO THE FLOOR I BEGAN TO TRY TOPUMP BRAKES . AS I WAS TRYIN TO STOP CAR I HEARD THIS NOISE LIKE AIR WAS COMING OUT OF TIRES. THEN I REALIZED IT WAS MY BRAKES MAKING NOISE . I PULL UP EMERGENCY BRAKE AND WAS ABLE TO STOP. MY 4 MTH OLD GRAND BABY WAS IN HIS CAR SEAT IN BACK, ALL I COULD DO WAS PRAY AND THANK GOD. I WASN'T FAR FROM MY HOME. I DROVE CAR HOME USING EMERGENCY BRAKES. NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND TOOK CAR TO SHOP. THEY ARE SAYING MY BRAKE BOOST HAS BROKEN AND WAS LEAKING AND THERE ADVICE WAS NOT TO DRIVE CAR. LEAVE IT WITH THEM .THIS HAPPEN ALL OF A CERTAIN, I HAD DROVE THAT CAR EVERY DAY THIS WK. TO FIX THIS CAR IT IS GOING TO COST 1300 DOLLARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CAMERA HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THEY MALFUNCTIONED. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED BUT THE BRAKES WAS SLOW TO APPLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT DID NOT FIND ANY DEFECT CODES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE BUT THAT DID NOT REMEDY THE BRAKING DEFECT. THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON BEFORE THE SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE BECAUSE THERE IS NO OIL AND THE STICK IS DRY. BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM I HAVE TO REFILL THE OIL FREQUENTLY. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE PEOPLE THAT THE OIL IS BURNING OUT, WHICH HAS A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON THE ENVIRONMENT. *TR

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A '07 TOYOTA CAMRY FROM MY MOTHER. IT STILL HAS WARRANTY. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT IN YET, BUT THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. I WAS IN AN UNDERGROUND PARKING DECK AWAY FROM HOME. I WAS PUTTING AN ADDRESS INTO MY GPS WHILE RESTING ONE OF MY FINGERS ON THE DASHBOARD WHILE I TYPED. I WENT TO REMOVE MY FINGER AND REALIZED THAT MY FINGERNAIL WAS STUCK IN THE DASHBOARD. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I WAS LOADING SOME THIN BAMBOO STALKS (LESS THAN 1/4 INCH THICK) AND THEY GOUGED HOLES MY DASHBOARD. I AM VERY SAD. I WANTED TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM.....APPARENTLY SO...AND SOME SOUND MUCH WORSE THAN MINE. I HOPE THEY WILL FIX THIS. *TR

WE OWNED THIS TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID SINCE 10/20/2012. THIS MORNING ABOUT 6:10AM, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO A SPEED OF 40MPH ON UNIVERSITY DRIVE NORTH BOUND. SHE WAS PASSING A POTHOLE WHICH HAD STAND WATER. SHE SLIGHTLY PRESS THE BRAKES,BUT WHEN SHE CAME OUT OF THE POTHOLE,THE CAR INSTEAD OF SLOW DOWN, WENT "CRAZY" TO A SPEED OF 60 MPH. MY WIFE KEEP THE BRAKES PRESSED BUT THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL; CAR WENT ACROSS FROM EAST TO WEST, JUMPING TWO LINES. WHEN THE CAR WAS CLOSE TO HIT THE MEDIAN, SHE STEER IT,TO CROSS IN THE MIDDLE THEN WENT CRAZY SOUTH BOND,WHERE SHE WAS COMING FROM.THE CAMRY FINAL STOPPED AFTER ABOUT 50 SECONDS,SHE WAS AGAINST THE INCOMING TRAFFIC.THE POINT IS THAT THIS CAR INSTEAD OF STOP WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED,TAKES MORE SPEED. MY 2007 CAMRY IS CONSUMING AROUND 3.5 QUARTS BETWEEN 5000MILES OIL CHANGE INTERVALS. THIS CONSUMPTION IS QUITE HIGH BY ANY STANDARD . I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS SOME SORT OF A MANUFACTURING/DESIGN FLAW WHICH COMES UP ONCE THE VEHICLE COMES OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD. THERE ARE NO LEAKS OR VISIBLE SIGNS OF OIL LOSS, I HATE TO SAY THE ENGINE IS BURNING THE OIL AND POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT. TOYOTA SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE AND FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR ALL CAMRY CUSTOMERS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE VSC LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT , BRAKE LIGHT, AND ANOTHER LIGHT ALL CAME ON. NO APPARENT PROBLEMS AT OPERATING SPEED, BUT AT LOWER SPEEDS I CAN FEEL PULSATING IN THE BRAKES AND ON LOW SPEED TURNS THE STEERING WHEEL PULSATES A LITTLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE BRAKES WILL FAIL. REPAIR ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER IS FAR MORE THAN WE CAN AFFORD. MY RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CAMRY HYBRID. I BELIEVE THIS DESERVES A RECALL. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT 78000 ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER I NOTICED I HAD TO PUT OIL LIKE ONCE A MONTH THE CAR IS NOT LEAKING OIL. NOW A YEAR LATER I HAVE TO PUT A QUART IN AND THE CAR IS NOT LEAKING OIL AND BLOWING ANY DARK SMOKE. THIS IS A PROBLEM. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY OVER 60 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY, MY BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT BOTH CAME ON. THE SPEEDOMETER WENT DOWN TO 0 SPEED AND THE RPM & TEMPERATURE GAUGE WERE BOUNCING UP & DOWN. THE AC FAN ALSO SHUT OFF. I TRIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON A PARKING LOT AND THEY DO NOT WORK WHEN THE ABOVE MENTIONED HAPPENS!! I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT "SEEMS" TO BE THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY AND THAT REPAIRING IT WILL BE $2500+. THEY DID TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND THAT IT IS NOTHING I DID WRONG- JUST A "DEFECTIVE" PART THAT TOYOTA HAS NOT RECALLED "YET". I FORESEE CLASS-ACTION SUITS/CASES REGARDING THIS ISSUE IN THE NEAR FUTURE!! I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AT TOYOTA'S UNRELIABILITY AND LACK OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASH BOARD WAS DETERIORATING AND HAD A SHINY SUBSTANCE ON IT WHICH CREATED A GLARE BLOCKING THE CONTACTS VISIBILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF A HOSE, A LEAK DEVELOPED IN THIS HOSE AND ALMOST ALL OF THE OIL LEAKED OUT OF THE ENGINE. NO WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. WE NOTICED ABNORMAL NOISES COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC. WE SPENT $400 WITH THEM AS THEY DIAGNOSED AND TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY AFTER SPENDING THIS MONEY THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET THE CAR TO START. IT IS VERY LIKELY THE CAR HAS SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL ENGINE DAMAGE AND ANY FUTURE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS COULD RESULT IN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OR REPAIRS. THIS DEFECT HAS RESULTED IN CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE ENGINE OF OUR CAR. PRESENTLY OUR CAR IS INOPERABLE AND SITTING IN OUR PARKING LOT. WE ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO SPEND MONEY TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS CLEARLY DUE TO BAD DESIGN AND INFERIOR PARTS BY TOYOTA. IN DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, WE FOUND OUT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THIS OIL HOSE. THIS IS CLEARLY THE FAULT OF TOYOTA AND NOT US AND MANY OTHER TOYOTA CUSTOMERS. WE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING UNLESS WE PAID TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THEM AND PAY THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM, HAVING AN ENGINE FAIL ON A HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS OR LOCALLY COULD CAUSE SIGNIFICANT INJURY. IN SPITE OF OUR CONTACT WITH TOYOTA, THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX OUR CAR. OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS ARE CURRENTLY AT RISK AS IF THEIR ENGINE FAILS IN TRANSIT SIGNIFICANT INJURY OR DEATH CAN OCCUR TO A CAR WHEN THE ENGINE FAILS. *TR
USES EXCESSIVE OIL - OIL IS LOW BEFORE IT IS TIME FOR SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. WHEN MOTOR IS PUT IN REVERSE, THE MOTOR VIBRATES ( EVEN THE FRONT SEATS). IT VIBRATES AND MAKES NOISES WHEN DRIVING OR JUST IDLE.
I AM HEARING A CLUNKING SOUND EVERY TIME I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. THERE ARE ACTUALLY LOTS OF CLUNKING NOISES AS I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE THAT IS IN PRISTINE CONDITION. IT IS GARAGED AND OUT THE SUN AND IS KEPT CLEAN INSIDE AND OUT. A MONTH AFTER I PURCHASED FROM A DEALER THE DASH BEGAN CRACKING BY THE STEERING WHEEL, AROUND THE IGNITION AND ON THE GLOVE BOX TRIM. I TOOK IT TO A INTERIOR TRIM SPECIALIST AND SAID HE HAS SEEN DOZENS OF THIS MODEL WITH THE IDENTICAL PROGRAM. IT BEGINS AS A SMALL CRACK AND THEN SPREADS LIKE A SPIDER WEB. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR THAT IS NOT RESELLABLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DASHBOARD OF SUBJECT VEHICLE STARTED DISPLAYING SIGNS OF A VERY STICKY SUBSTANCE IN THE SUMMER OF 2013. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN DEC. OF 2010 WITH ONE PREVIOUS OWNER .. SIGNS OF MELTING DASHBOARD DID NOT APPEAR FOR SEVERAL YEARS PAST THE WARRANTY. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT NUMEROUS TOYOTA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM. AFTER DEALING WITH TOYOTA DIRECTLY, I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT DASHBOARD BUT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $624 IN LABOR. MY POSITION IS THAT THIS IS EITHER A PRODUCTS LIABILITY, IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, OR LATENT DEFECT ISSUE AND HAS NO BEARING ON AN EXPIRED WARRANTY. IN ADDITION, THERE MAY BE A SAFETY CONCERN WITH DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG DUE TO DETERIORATING DASHBOARD, NOT TO MENTION THE POSSIBILITY OF TOXIC FUMES CIRCULATING THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND IS STICKY TO THE TOUCH. THIS CONDITION IS LEAVING A VERY DANGEROUS GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THROUGH IN THE AFTERNOON. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 CAMRY INTERMITTENTLY THE ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT LIT UP TOGETHER AND THE ODOMETER STOP WORKING SIMULTANEOUSLY. THESE PROBLEMS WOULD ALL GO AWAY SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR A WHILE BEFORE THEY ALL GO BAD AGAIN SIMULTANEOUSLY. ALSO THE AIRCONDITION WOULD STOP WORKING AT THE SAME TIME . I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACE MY BRAKE MODULATOR /CONTROL MODULE ASSEMBLY .I BEEN SEARCHING ON LINE TO SEE HOW MANY VEHICLE FROM TOYOTA HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I FOUND THAT ALOT OF TOYOTA CAMRY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM , I THINK THIS NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED THANK YOU . *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VSC CHECK SYSTEM, ABS, HAZARDS, AND WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. BASICALLY, MY DASHBOARD LIT UP. THE CAR ALSO STARTED TO LOSE BRAKING POWER, SO I PULLED OVER. I TRIED TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE ENGINE 3 TIMES, BUT ALL THE LIGHTS WERE STILL THERE. I HAD AN EVENT TO ATTEND, AND DROVE MY CAR IN FEAR. AFTER FINALLY ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS AT THE DEALER, I WAS QUOTED $3000 TO REPLACE A FAULTY BRAKE ACCUMULATOR. I AM ALSO AWARE THAT THIS ISSUE IS MORE COMMON, ESPECIALLY ON TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRIDS AROUND 5 YEARS OLD. IT IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE TO PAY 10% OF MY CAR'S ORIGINAL PRICE, SINCE IT IS A WIDESPREAD SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS BEYOND COINCIDENCE THAT TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRIDS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. *TR

ON THE WAY HOME, STOPPED INTO AUTO ZONE, PLUGGED IN A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC, CODE C1391 COMES UP. WENT HOME INVESTIGATED ONLINE, FOUND THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH MANY CAMRY HYBRIDS,. NOT BEING RECALLED. BIG MONEY AND BIG SAFETY ISSUE HERE. COSTING CONSUMERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, MY FIRST DAY OUT WITH THIS AS THIS JUST HAPPENED WITH ME AT 9 AM TODAY. COMING TO A STREET STOP AT 15 MPH ABS LIGHTS AND SOME OTHER CAME ON. IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE EVEN WITH ALL POSSIBLE PRESSURE ON PEDAL. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WAS LOOSE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. IT WOULD NOT FLIP UP OR STAY UP AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT WOULD ALWAYS FLOP DOWN. THE PIECE HAD BROKEN SO MUCH THAT THE VISOR SAGGED IF I PUT IT TO THE LEFT OF ME. I WOULD HAVE TO DUCK MY HEAD DOWN TO SEE IF ANY TRAFFIC WAS COMING. I ONLY USED THE VISOR IF THE SUN WAS BRIGHT SO NOT BEING ABLE TO ADJUST IT TO BLOCK THE SUN CAUSED A LOT OF TROUBLE BECAUSE I'D HAVE TO DUCK MY HEAD TO LOOK BELOW IT ALL THE TIME WHEN DRIVING. I FINALLY HAD TO TAKE THE WHOLE THING OFF. *TR
AFTER HEARING LOTS OF NOISES FROM THE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR FOR MONTHS, THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING. CHECK VSC WARNING, BRAKE LIGHTS, ABS WARNING, AND OTHER BRAKE RELATED WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. DURING BRAKING THE BRAKES RELEASED, AND QUITE EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WAS REQUIRED TO STOP THE CAR AND AVOID A CRASH. TESTING THE SYSTEM SHOWED FAULT CODE C1391 (ABNORMAL LEAK OF ACCUMULATOR PRESSURE). I CLEARED THE FAULT, BUT THE NEXT DAY THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED. WE HAD THE SYSTEM BLED, BUT ONCE AGAIN THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED. BRAKING ACTION INTERMITTENT WITH BRAKES RELEASING AT TIMES, AND AT OTHER TIMES LOCKING UP. A VERY UNSAFE PROPOSITION. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST IN EXCESS OF $3,000. THIS IS 10% OF THE COST OF THE CAR FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A WIDESPREAD SAFETY ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FILED. I CANNOT IMAGINE THAT THIS HAS NOT OR WILL NOT LEAD TO FATAL ACCIDENTS. *TR
THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD OF MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS BECOME SOFT AND STICKY. THERE IS A REFLECTIVE GLARE COMING OFF THE DASHBOARD CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD WHERE THE MELTED MATERIAL HAS HARDENED. MY 2007 TOYOTA SOLARA COUPE L4-2.4L (2AZ-FE) HAS THE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY MY SERVICE CENTER AND IS IN REGARD TO THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN T-SB-0094-11. THE ENGINE LOSES OIL AT RAPID RATE AND GASOLINE GETS IN THE OIL, WHICH COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM WHICH SHOULD BE A RECALL. BECAUSE TOYOTA LISTS THIS PROBLEM ONLY AS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO CONTACT THE VEHICLE OWNER TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE REPAIRS NEEDED REQUIRE MAJOR ENGINE/PISTON WORK COSTING $5,000. THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS IF THE VEHICLE HAS OVER 60,000 MILES. BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD $5,000, AND I NEED THE CAR TO GET TO WORK, I AM STUCK WITH A USELESS AND DANGEROUS VEHICLE WHERE THE ENGINE WILL SEIZE UP AND DIE. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES PER HOUR AND COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE VSC WARNING LIGHT , BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, AND TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. THE LIGHT REMAINED ON AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME MORE RESISTANT TO BRAKING. THE PROBLEM IN MY CAR ACTUALLY BEGAN MONTHS BEFORE THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND WAS NOT CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED AT THE DEALERSHIP. EARLY SIGNS WERE EXCESSIVE CLICKING SOUNDS COMING FROM THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY ON THE RIGHT FRONT AREA OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND AN INTERMITTENT HYDRAULIC SOUND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS KEPT DEPRESSED. AFTER THE REPAIR I FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON ON THE 2007 CAMRY HYBRID. THE REPAIR INVOLVED REPLACEMENT OF THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY AND WAS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. *TR ....UPDATED 08/01/13 *BF THERE SEEMED TO BE A DELAY IN STOPPING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. PRIOR TO THAT, THE CONSUMER HEARD CLICKING SOUNDS. HOWEVER, BEFORE THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, THE STOPPING SEEMED NORMAL.
I REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT NO LESS THAN 35MPH. THE IMPACT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS INDICATED THAT THE CAR WILL PROBABLY BE DEEMED TOTALED. IN 2007 I BOUGHT BRAND NEW TOYOTA CAMRY IN USA. IN 2009 I TOOK THAT CAR TO POLAND WITH ME. IN MAY 2013 OF THIS YEAR I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY BREAKS. I TOOK IT FOR TESTS TO A DEALERSHIP IN ELK POLAND WHERE I LIVE AND THEY SAID THERE IS A DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER & VACUUM TUBE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP SAID TAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A CAR THAT HAS ONLY 29000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE A COPY OF PAPERWORK THAT I RECEIVED FROM THEM. MY DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME TO CONTACT TOYOTA USA TO SEE IF THEY CAN SEND THE NEW PART UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. I WAS TOLD, AS USUAL, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AND, THAT IS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE WHEN I PROBLEMS WITH MY BREAKS, I HAD TO LODGE A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO REMEDY THAT ISSUE. A "STICKY" AND CRACKING DASHBOARD FROM FLORIDA HEAT CAUSES A HUGE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. THIS MAKES VISIBILITY EXTREMELY LIMITED WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE NOT USED ANY CLEANING OR POLISHING PRODUCTS ON THE DASHBOARD. I AM CONVINCED IT IS JUST FROM HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HUMIDITY OVER TIME. AFTER NOTICING THE PROBLEM I TRIED TO REDUCE DIRECT SUNLIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD BY USING WINDSHIELD COVERS; HOWEVER, THE DASH STILL REMAINED "STICKY" AND THE COVERS JUST SIMPLY STUCK TO THE DASH. THE ISSUE USED TO ONLY OCCUR WHEN IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE, BUT NOW THE DASH HAS BEEN "MELTED" SO MUCH SO THAT IT HAS BECOME GLOSSY. WHICH MEANS EVEN IN COOLER TEMPERATURES THE DASH REFLECTS ANY SUNLIGHT AND CAUSES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. AGAIN, THIS ISSUE HIGHLY DECREASES VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. IT IS OFTEN DIFFICULT TO PERFORM THE EASIEST MANEUVERS SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU CANNOT SEE. I HAVE EVEN BOUGHT EXPENSIVE POLAROID SUNGLASSES TO SOMEWHAT REDUCE THE GLARE, BUT VISIBILITY IS STILL DIFFICULT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE IT CAN EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE BEST WAY TO HANDLE THE SITUATION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. *TR
