THERE IS A GROWING TREND ON THE INTERNET OF 2008/2009 CAMRYS WITH FAULTY SUN VISORS. THEY FAIL WITHOUT WARNING, AND BLOCK THE DRIVER'S ABILITY TO SEE. THIS HAPPENS ON BOTH FREQUENTLY USED, AND INFREQUENTLY USED VISORS. OUR PASSENGER SIDE VISOR FAILED FIRST, JUST OUTSIDE THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. THIS VISOR WAS HARDLY EVER USED AS MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR, AND RARELY HAS FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS. EXTENDED WARRANTY REFUSED TO COVER IT (IT'S CONSIDERED TRIM). 6 MONTHS LATER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FAILED. NOW, MY PASSENGER SIDE VISOR HAS FAILED AGAIN (MARCH 2012). BOTH ORIGINAL REPLACEMENTS WERE NEW, FROM THE DEALER. THE PARTS GUY AT ONE OF THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME THEY SEE QUITE A FEW CAMRYS WITH BROKEN OR MISSING VISORS. BOTH (DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE) SUN VISORS ARE DEFECTIVE VIA DISCONNECT AND/OR INABILITY TO MOVE FROM WINDSHIELD VIEW (OCCURRING ONLY 3 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE NEW). ALSO, VEHICLES ELECTRICAL PLUG OUTLETS ALSO DO NOT WORK, AND HAVE NOT WORKED SINCE AFTER 3 YEARS OF VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW. SEARCHING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT BOTH ITEMS ARE EXTREMELY COMMON FOR 2007-2008 TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS, WITH AT LEAST THOUSANDS PLEADING FOR A RECALL AS THE FIXES ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, FOR AN ITEM THAT DOES NOT TYPICALLY BREAK WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, AND IS OBVIOUSLY NOT DERIVED FROM WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
THE CD PLAYER HAS PROBLEMS LOADING THE CD. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO CD IN THE DRIVE - IT KEEPS SAYING READING CD, NOT ALLOWING THE CD IN. WE HAD THIS PROBLEM ONLY ABOUT 2YEARS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE NEW. *TR
THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM OF THE 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SE SEEMS TO BE FAULTY. THE CAR SUDDENLY SHOOK VIOLENTLY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN MY WIFE REACHED A SPEED OF 45MPH. THEN THE CAR DROVE INTO A DITCH. WHEN SHE PUSHED THE BRAKES, THE CAR TURNED OVER. THE CAR WAS TOTALED,BUT NONE OF THE 6 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SHIFTED OUT OF PARK, THE RPMS INCREASED SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. TWO PEOPLE WERE INJURED AS A RESULT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED FOR DAMAGES. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A REPAIR FOR RECALL 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) BUT THE DEALER TOLD THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK WITHIN TWO MONTHS BECAUSE THEY COULD DETECT NO PROBLEMS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I BOUGHT MY 08 CAMRY IN 2010 AS A USED BUT CERTIFIED TOYOTA. I NOTICED RIGHT AWAY THAT THE CAR SEEMED OUT OF ALIGNMENT. I MENTIONED BEFORE WE CLOSED THE DEAL AND THEY TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY THEY WOULD RE-ALIGN THE VEHICLE AT MY CONVENIENCE. LONG STORY SHORT, THE DEALER STOOD BEHIND THEIR WORD AND RE-ALIGNED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES. NOTHING HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM! THE CAR CONSTANTLY PULLS, USUALLY TO THE LEFT BUT EVEN SOMETIMES TO THE RIGHT. IT'S LIKE THE STEERING HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN. THE DEALER HAS CHALKED IT UP TO "SENSITIVE STEERING". I'VE PUT NEW TIRES AND NEW BRAKES ALL THE WAY AROUND THE VEHICLE AND IT HAS MADE NO DIFFERENCE. IF I'D KNOWN THIS STEERING PROBLEM WAS GOING TO PERSIST I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. *TR
ELECTRICAL - ROOF WOULD NOT CLOSE - HAD TO TRY SEVERAL TIMES, WOULD GO HALF WAY AND REOPEN; RADIO-DISPLAY BLANKS, EJECTS 6 DISCS AND WILL NOT RESET - CANNOT USE TUNER BUTTONS, CAN ONLY TURN KNOB AND CAN'T SWITCH BANDS AS EACH BUTTON CAUSES POWER TO GO OFF. *TR
I CONTACTED TOYOTA OVER A YEAR AGO CONCERNING A RECALL ON MY DASH BOAD...I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE ON BACK ORDE DUE TO THE RECALL...I HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER BUT EVERY TIME I CALL TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE THEY GIVE ME AN ATTITUDE STATING THAT THEY HAVE HAD PEOPLE WAITING ON A DASH BOARD LONGER THAN ME AND THAT I JUST HAVE TO WAIT.
SUN VISORS ARE DEFECTED. EASILY BROKEN WHEN PLACED INTO USE. COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE VISOR WILL NOT RETURN TO UP POSITION. THEY BLOCK THE VIEW AND UNABLE TO RETURN THEM BACK TO UP POSITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V491000 (VISIBILITY) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES, THE VEHICLE RESPONDED AND OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS FOR MY CAMRY HYBRID IN THE PAST YEARS WHICH ARE RELATED TO SAFETY 1) ON 11/28/10, WHILE DRIVING IN RAINY SITUATION ON LOCAL STREET AT LOW SPEED, THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER STOPPED WORKING CAUSING BAD VISIBILITY. I PULL OVER TO STREET SIDE AND RAIN STOPPED AFTER A WHILE. I DROVE THE CAR TO A NEARBY TOYOTA DEALER. DIAGNOSIS IS "WIPER ARM SLIPPED SPLINES" 2) ON 4/16/10, WHILE DRIVING ON STREET AT LOW SPEED (30 MPH) HEAVY SMOKE CAME OUT OF DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH. AFTER I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, THE SMOKE STOPPED. CAR WAS TOWED TO A NEARBY TOYOTA DEALER AND DIAGNOSTIC WAS SWITCH LOCKED ON "ON" POSITION. I BELIEVE THIS IS ONE OF THE TOYOTA "RECALL" CASE. 3) ABOUT 11/2013, WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY THE TIRE AIR PRESSURE LIGHT WENT ON. I DROVE BACK TO TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE OF COLD WEATHER. NO FIX WAS PERFORMED. HOWEVER,THE LIGHT WENT ON / OFF SINCE THEN AND AFTER A MONTH STAYED ON ALL THE TIME. BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALER AGAIN AND THEY FOUND A FAULTY SENSOR FOR TIRE AIR PRESSURE. LUCKILY ALL INCIDENTS DID NOT INVOLVE CRASH / INJURY. HOWEVER, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED / CONCERNED ON MY CAR'S SAFETY / RELIABILITY. A NOISE IS COMING FROM THE SUNROOF THAT SOUNDS LIKE METAL AGAINST METAL WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY OR GOING AROUND A CORNER OR OVER A BUMP. I HAVE OWNED 3 TOYOTAS AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO FRUSTRATED AS I AM WITH OWNING THIS TOYOTA 2008 CAMRY. FROM THE BEGINNING THE CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES THAT CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE, THE SUNVISORS FALLING, THE REAR WHEEL BEARING TO BE REPLACED AND NOW THE SUNROOF. I'M TAKING TIME TO WRITE THIS BECAUSE I WANT OWNERS OF TOYOTA TO BE AWARE OF HOW POORLY TOYOTA IS HANDLING THESE PROBLEM. TOYOTA HAS STALLED TAKING ACTION SO THAT WHEN THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT THAN IS THE OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. SHAME ON TOYOTA. MY 2008 CAMRY WAS PURCHASED NEW AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES MY DRIVERS SIDE VISOR BEGAN DROOPING THEN FINALLY NOW IT WILL NOT STAY UP AND IS IN MY LINE OF SIGHT. I HAVE TO HOLD IT UP AS I DRIVE OR SWING IT AROUND TO THE DRIVERS DOOR SO THAT I CAN SEE TO DRIVE. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE MANUFACTURER AS WELL AS MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
WE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON OUR 2008 CAMRY DUE GAS PEDAL PROBLEM. WE TOOK THE CAMRY IN FOR THE RECALL. THE DEALER SHAVED THE PEDAL DOWN. THIS IS THE FIX FOR THE RUN AWAY CAMRY'S. THE FIX IS VERY SLOPPY AND MAKES THE CAR UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE DUE THE PEDAL BEING SO SHORT NOW. I CALL TOYOTA THEY SAID THAT WAS THE APPROVED FIX. THEY DID GIVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND SAID SOMEONE WOULD CALL IN 3 DAYS. THE FIX SEEMS TO BE A LOT MORE UNSAFE NOW THAN BEFORE. *TR
PREMATURE WEAR OF ALL 4 BRIDGESTONE TIRES WITH APPROXIMATELY 13,000-14, 000 MILES. TREAD WAS SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW REGULATORY LIMITS, BUT NOT BALD, YET THE MILEAGE WAS VERY LOW. ALL TIRES HAD BEEN REGULARLY ROTATED (APPROX. EVERY 4,000 MILES), AND WHEN TESTED WERE IN ALIGNMENT. CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, WHICH STATED THAT THEY ONLY WARRANTY TIRES FOR 12,000 MILES, OR 1 YEAR. THEN CONTACTED BRIDGESTONE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER, AND AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP. THE GENTLEMAN AT FIRESTONE CONFIRMED THAT THE TIRES WERE ABNORMALLY WORN AND MADE A RECOMMENDATION TO HIS BOSS THAT AT LEAST 3 OF 4 TIRES BE REPLACED AT NO COST TO ME. THE NEXT DAY, I RETURNED AND AT FIRST THE MANAGER WAS SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT, BUT AFTER HE HAD INSISTED ON TESTING THE ALIGNMENT AND FINDING THAT IT WAS CLOSE TO PERFECT, HIS TONE CHANGES AND HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN NICER. HE AUTHORIZED THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL TIRES, WHICH HAD TO BE ORDERED, AS TOYOTA ONLY PERMITS SUBSTITUTIONS WITH THE SAME, OR ONE GRADE LOWER SPEED RATING, AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE V-RATED TIRES IN STOCK, BUT THE NEXT DAY I ONCE AGAIN RETURNED AND ONE HOUR LATER DROVE AWAY WITH BRAND NEW TIRES. N.B. IF YOU DO NOT REGULARLY ROTATE, BALANCE, AND IF-NEEDED ALIGN YOUR TIRES, BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE WILL NOT REPLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK ONLY OPENS A LITTLE WHEN RELEASED AND IT HAS CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HIT HIS HEAD, WHICH CAUSED A GASH ON HIS HEAD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK HAS TO BE PULLED ALL THE WAY OPEN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE TRUNK IS DESIGNED NOT TO OPEN ALL THE WAY AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PULL THE TRUNK OPEN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WAS 35500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WERE RECALLS 09V3880000 & 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) WERE PERFORMED IN 2010. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEG, FACE AND ARM. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY AND BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE VISORS ARE JUST HANGING DOWN AND WONT STAY UP. I TRIED TO TAKE THEM BACK TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED BUT I HAVE A LONG COMMUTE TO WORK SO AFTER 2 YEARS MY WARRANTY WAS UP. ITS VERY HARD TO SEE SOMETIMES WITHOUT VISORS THAT WORK. *TR

ON AUGUST 27, 2010 WHILE APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION 35 MPH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SHE HEARD A NOISE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
2008 NEW CAMRY BRAKE AND ROTOR FAILED AT 28000MILE LESS THAN 3 YEARS DURING WARRANTY PERIOD. 7000 MILE ALIGNMENT FAILURE, ALWAYS TURN ONE SIDE ON FREEWAY WHEN NOT HOLDING STEER. CHECKED BY DEALER, NOTHING WAS DONE. 28000 MILES RIGHT BRAKE CUT INTO ROTOR. REPAIRED. HOWEVER, BRAKE STILL WEAR QUICKLY. ALIGNMENT SERVICE SOLVED THIS PROBLEM. REFUSE TO REIMBURSE THE COST BECAUSE THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING AT 7000MILE ALIGNMENT ISSUE, WHAT IS A JOKE. IF THIS DID SOMETHING, THIS FAILURE WOULD NOT HAPPEN. *TR

THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER NECK WAS BRUISED FROM THE SEAT BELT WHEN THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. FRONT STRUTS ARE LEAKING 40,000 MILES OF VERY CAREFUL DRIVING IN SOUTH FLORIDA'S PAVED AND POT HOLE FREE ROADS. *TR
MY MOTHER OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY CE AND THE PASSENGER VISOR FLOPS DOWN AND IT DOES NOT STAY UP IN PLACE. IT HAPPENED WHEN MORE THAN A YEAR AGO WHEN THE CAR MERELY HAD 30,000. I DID MY RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH TOYOTA'S. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT ITS SOMETHING I NEED TO PAY TO GET FIXED. IF IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS HAPPENING TO MANY TOYOTAS AND IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT OBSTRUCT THE DRIVER VIEW, TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL AND FIXED THE ISSUE ASAP!! IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT WE HAVE TO PAY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS DEFECTIVE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *TT
DRIVER SIDE VISOR LOST TENSION AND EVENTUALLY BROKE. VISOR WAS DANGEROUSLY HANGING DOWN IN DIRECT LINE OF DRIVER SIGHT. *TR
2008 LE TOYOTA CAMRY W/ 46,361 MILES, OUTSIDE OF MFG WARRANTY (3YRS OR 36K MILES). JORGE AT AUTOPARK SAYS THE TOYOTA EXTRA CARE PLATINUM EXTENDED WARRANTY CLASSIFIES THIS PART AS COSMETIC AND WILL NOT BE COVERED. ADVISED ME TO USE VELCRO TO KEEP IT UP. NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR. DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR KEEPS FALLING DOWN, WILL NOT STAY UP, OBSTRUCTS MY DRIVING. RESTRICTS THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROAD. I HAVE TO HOLD THE VISOR IN MY LEFT HAND AND DRIVE WITH MY RIGHT HAND. THIS IS VERY INCONVENIENT, HAZARDOUS, AND DANGEROUS. IF I DETACH THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VISOR FROM THE CLIP AND MOVE IT TO THE LEFT, I CAN'T SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN I ATTEMPT TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN UNLESS I RE-ATTACH THE VISOR TO THE CLIP. THIS DISTRACTS ME FROM FOCUSING ON THE ROAD. REPLACEMENT PART COST $105, LABOR COST $25. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON BOTH SIDES HAVE FAILED. THE METAL BRACKET INSIDE THE VISOR THAT PROVIDES FRICTION TO HOLD THE VISOR UP WHEN NOT NEEDED IS HELD IN PLACE INSIDE A GLUED PLASTIC FRAMEWORK. THE FRAMEWORK EVENTUALLY SUFFERS FROM FATIGUE AND SEPARATES, CAUSING THE VISOR TO DROP DOWN AND BLOCK THE DRIVER'S VISION. ONCE IT FAILS IT WILL NOT STAY UP AND IS CONSTANTLY CAUSING A VISUAL DISTRACTION FOR THE DRIVER. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON SEVERAL OF THE TOYOTA MODELS FOR THE LAST TEN YEARS. IT HAS HAPPENED ONMY CAR TWICE, ONCE AT 43,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 57,000 MILES. *TT
BOTH SUN VISORS OF MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY BROKE OFF ABOUT 10 MONTHS AGO THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN. THE VISORS FIRST BEGAN TO HANG LIMPLY, SO I COULD NOT PROPERLY ADJUST THEM TO KEEP OUT THE SUN. WHILE TRYING TO ADJUST THEM THEY SIMPLY FELL OFF. THE DRIVERS SIDE BROKE FIRST AND WITHIN 2 MONTHS THE PASSENGER SIDE ALSO BROKE. WHEN THE FIRST BROKE I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST SOME ABERRATION, BUT AFTER THE SECOND I REALIZED THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VISORS THAT IS FAULTY. BOTH OCCURRED OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY WINDOW. IT IS NOW DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN EARLY MORNING AND LATE EVENING, BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF THE VISORS. I WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW UP WITH TOYOTA FOR REIMBURSEMENT, BUT I FELT IT WAS NECESSARY TO NOTIFY NHTSA TO SEE IF OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THANK YOU. *KB

APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THE PARTS WERE STILL ON BACK ORDER. PRIOR TO JULY 17, 2010, THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR, HAD LOOSEN UP/BROKE AND WOULD NOT STAY IN PLACE. THIS WAS A HAZARD AND I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THE PASSENGER'S SIDE VISOR BEGAN MAKING NOISE SIMILAR TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEN IT FIRST STARTED, THEN THE NOISE WAS LOUDER. WE RECEIVED A "WARRANTY ENHANCE NOTICE" WHERE TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., INC. WAS INFORMING US ABOUT EXTENDING THE WARRANTY OF THE VISORS FOR A PERIOD OF 7 YEARS. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSED THE OWNERS THAT HAD THEM REPLACED AND WE NEEDED TO SUBMIT A COPY OF THE REPAIR ORDER, PROOF OF PAYMENT, AND PROOF OF OWNERSHIP. WE SUBMITTED THE REPAIR ORDER FROM THE TOYOTA DEALER THAT REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WHICH IS ALSO PROOF THAT THE DEALER WAS PAID FOR, AND A COPY OF THE REGISTRATION; NO DEALER LET'S YOU LEAVE WITHOUT PAYING OR MAKE INVOICES AS A FAVOR FOR CONSUMERS; PLUS THE FACT THAT THEY ARE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MANUFACTURER. WELL, TO OUR SURPRISE THEY WANTED A RECEIPT ON HOW THIS BILL WAS PAID. THIS IS A TACTIC OF THE MANUFACTURER OR THE CONSUMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO AVOID OR DELAY THE REIMBURSEMENT PROCESS AND TO DISCOURAGE CONSUMERS FROM PURSUING THEIR CLAIMS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OTHER VISOR AT NO CHARGE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR IS BEGINING TO MAKE THE SAME NOISE AS THE PREVIOUS ONE, NOT EVEN TWO YEARS FROM THE TIME IT WAS REPLACED. *TR
2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. VANITY MIRROR LIGHT, DOES NOT FUNCTION AS WELL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS RESULTED IN CLOSE CALLS IN THE PAST FEW DAYS ON MY WAY TO AND FROM WORK. TOYOTA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THERE IS AN ISSUE AND HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN. TOYOTA LIMITS THIS TO 3 YRS/ 36000 MILES AND WILL NOT FIX MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY RESTRICTIONS. A CRASH DID NOT OCCUR AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE. ON THE SAME DAY, THAT AFTERNOON, WHILE AT A STOP SIGN WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SURGE AGAIN AND LUNGE SEVERAL INCHES FORWARD. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL GEAR AND THE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY WHILE HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. HE THEN SHIFTED INTO PARK GEAR AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A LOUD NOISE; HE SHIFTED BACK TO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN SERVICED FOR ALL RECALLS RELATED TO VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THE CONTACT WILL SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,650. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,532.
MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SUN VISORS HAVE BOTH FALLEN DOWN CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. I CALLED TOYOTA BUT SINCE MY I HAVE 40K MILES THEY WILL NOT FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. BOTH SUN VISORS FELL DOWN AT THE SAME TIME DUE TO NO PREVIOUS IMPACT OR STRESS CAUSED BY ANYONE. JUST A FAULTY PRODUCT. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTRANET AND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH OTHER TOYOTA MODELS. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER AND ENTERED AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT. CAN YOUR ORGANIZATION ASSIST WITH THIS ISSUE? THE TOTAL OUT OF POCKET COST FROM TOYOTA IS $350. THIS IS CAUSING ME POOR VISIBILITY AND CAN LEAD TO CAR ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS SHIFTED INTO THE PARK POSITON AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHILE CRASHING INTO THE PROCEEDING VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED A CHAIN REACTION CRASH WITH A SECOND VEHICLE. THERE WAS MINIMAL IMPACT WHEN THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SCRATCHES TO THE FRONT END BUMPER. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE A FOLLOW-UP CALL WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT RESPONDED REGARDING THE FAILURE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIAMTELY 25,000.

THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS RECLINED AND WILL NOT ADJUST DUE TO A MECHANICAL DEFECT. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JULY 2008 AND IT HAS 47,000. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY CHARGED WOULD BE $2,000 TO FIX THE SEAT. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION THROUGH THE INTERNET, I FOUND OUT THE SEATS FRAME IS HARD TO PURCHASE USED BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME. *TR

THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO DEFECT PRESENT AND THAT THE FIRE STARTED FROM THE CUP HOLDER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35000.

MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY A CAR GOING ROUGHLY 60MPH. THE FORCE OF THIS HIT PUSHED MY FRONT END INTO THE GUARDRAIL AND BACK INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
CAR : 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY LE, 30K MILES STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY PROBLEM : UNINTENDED SUDDEN BRAKING AFTER TOYOTA'S RECALL DESCRIPTION: I AM OWNER OF 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. MY CAR EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEM ONCE. LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER APPLIED RECALL TO FIX THIS ISSUE. NOW MY CAR APPLIES UNINTENDED BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN LAST 15 DAYS, EACH OF THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED BELOW 1) TRYING TO COAST TO STOP, CAR WAS GOING AT 50MPH, AS SOON AS I STEP FOOT OFF PEDAL, CAR SLOWED DRASTICALLY, BRAKE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON BUT CAR REDUCE SPEED FROM 50MPH TO 35MPH AND KEPT ON REDUCING. NOTE THAT I NEVER PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL BUT BRAKES WERE APPLIED AUTOMATICALLY TO WHEELS. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. 2) TRYING TO MERGE INTO FREEWAY, SPEED BETWEEN 45-50MPH & TRYING TO ACCELERATE, SUDDENLY LOST SPEED FROM 50 TO 40MPH IN MATTER OF 2 SECONDS, MY FOOT WAS ON ACCELERATOR ALL THE TIME. WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED BY VEHICLE FOLLOWING US, I REQUEST YOU TO LOOK INTO THIS CARS STOPPING BY THEMSELVES ARE EQUALLY AS BAD AS CARS ACCELERATING BY THEMSELVES. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED FIRST HAND WHEN WE WERE ALMOST REARENDED BY A CAR. KINDLY LOOK INTO THIS. *TR
THE SUNVISORS ARE VERY CHEAPLY MADE. THEY USE A METAL CLIP THAT SWIVELS AROUND A ROAD AND A PLASTIC CASING AROUND THE METAL CLIP. THE METAL CLIP PUTS WAY TOO MUCH PRESSURE FOR THE PLASTIC TO WITHSTAND, RESULTING IN FAILURE. NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THEIR SUNVISORS BREAKING AND SUDDENLY HANGING IN THEIR FACE, BLOCKING THEIR VISION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE SUNVISORS MUST BE FORCEFULLY PULLED OUT OF THEIR SOCKET TO ALLOW UNOBSTRUCTED DRIVING. BOTH OF MY SUNVISORS FAILED IN THE SAME MANNER WITHIN A COUPLE OF MONTHS OF ONE ANOTHER. THE CAR WAS 2.5 YEARS OLD. THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED -- DUE TO MILEAGE, AS WE DROVE A LOT OF HIGHWAY MILES. THERE'S NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THESE VISORS TO FAIL THIS EARLY. THIS IS POOR ENGINEERING, POOR MATERIAL SELECTION, OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THESE SUNVISORS. LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERS ARE UNWILLING TO HELP. DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FAILED WHEN MOVED TO THE DOWN POSITION AND FLOPPED AROUND. HAD TO REPLACE AT A COST OF $150. IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS AND NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR HAS FAILED AND WILL NOT FULLY OPEN. PASSENGER SIDE IS RARELY USED AND NEITHER SIDE WAS MISHANDLED. BOTH BROKE DURING NORMAL USAGE AND OPENING. *JS
BEGAN NOTICING THE DASHBOARD WAS BEGINNING TO FEEL VERY STICKY & COULD NOT BE WIPED OFF. IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE, BUGS STICKING TO IT & NOT ABLE TO WIPE OFF. COULDN'T USE SUN SHADES AS THE BOTTOM WOULD RIP FROM BEING STUCK. THE WORST, HOWEVER, IS THE GLARE THAT CAUSES ALMOST BLINDNESS WHEN DRIVING. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 40,000.
