MY DASHBOARD HAS BECOME EXTREMELY SHINNY AND THE GLARE IS IMPEDING ON MY VISIBILITY IN THE FORWARD AREA. I HIT A GARBAGE CAN ON A SUNNY DAY. THANK GOD IT WASN'T A PERSON. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE DASHBOARD MATERIAL USED BY TOYOTA.
EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF MOTOR OIL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE. THEY HAVE SEALED THE OIL GAUGE AND WHEN I RETURN THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT CONSUMPTION IS NORMAL; IT IS NOT. EVERY MONTH I HAVE TO PUT A QUART & A THIRD TO KEEP THE VEHICLE AT THE MID-MARK OF THE OIL DIP STICK.
TAKATA RECALL: I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION ON JANUARY 27, 2018 WITH A JEEP RANGER IN MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. I WAS GETTING ON THE FREEWAY EXIT ROAD, THE POSTED SPEED WAS 65MPH AND HAD NO TIME TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. AFTER MAKING CONTACT WITH THE JEEP MY CAR THEN WENT INTO A FENCE. THE AIR BAGS IN MY CAMRY NEVER DEPLOYED. AND I HAVE SUFFERED FROM INJURIES AND SIGNIFICANT MEDIAL BILLS AS A RESULT OF THE AIR BAGS FAILURE TO DEPLOY.
THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WILL NOT REMAIN IN CORRECT POSITION. THE VISOR DROPS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION STARTLING THE DRIVER AND TEMPORARILY IMPAIRING VISION.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS IS ACTUALLY MY FATHER'S CAR. HIS NAME IS [XXX] AND HE HAS ASKED ME [XXX] TO ACT ON HIS BEHALF. [XXX] IS 91 YEARS OLD AND DOES NOT USE COMPUTERS. I TALKED TO A TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THEIR "WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION" LETTER # ZE7AND WAS TOLD THAT MY FATHERS CAR DOES NOT APPLY BECAUSE TOYOTA PUT A CUT-OFF AT 150,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS FROM FIRST DATE OF ISSUE. MY FATHER IS THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS CAR AND HE HAS OWNED IT FOR ABOUT 2.5 - 3 YEARS. WHEN HE PURCHASED IT, IT HAD ABOUT 130,000 MILES ON IT, IT NOW HAS 158,3000 MILES. HE HAS NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE OR LETTER FROM TOYOTA NOTIFYING HIM OF OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. I WAS DRIVING WITH HIM IN LATE JANUARY OF 2018 WHEN THE OIL WARNING LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASH, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AS I KNEW HE HAD JUST HAD THE OIL & FILTER CHANGED AT THE LOCAL JIFFY LUBE ABOUT 1500 MILES PRIOR TO WHAT THE MILEAGE READ. I WAS VERY ANGRY WHEN I SAW IT DIDN'T REGISTER ON THE DIPSTICK AND I HAD TO ADD ABOUT 1 1/4 QUARTS OF OIL. I THOUGHT JIFFY LUBE SHORTED HIM ON OIL AND I THEN STARTED CHANGING IT MYSELF. I KEEP A CLOSE WATCH ON THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND HAVE FOUND THAT I NEED TO ADD ABOUT ONE QUART EVERY 1200 MILES. THE ENGINE IS THE 2AZ-FE, 2.4L AND IS INVOLVED WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED, BUT WILL NOT SEEM TO HELP SINCE THE CAR HAS OVER 150,000 MILES ON IT. AS A CONSUMER I THINK THIS IS WRONG ON TOYOTA'S PART AND THAT THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT WHEN IT IS THEIR FAULT FOR KNOWINGLY USING FAULTY PARTS/ MATERIAL, THEN LEAVING THE CONSUMER TO ABSORB THE COST. DASHBOARD HAS MELTED AND BECOME STICKY AND HIGHLY REFLECTIVE. WHEN DRIVING IN SUNLIGHT IT REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD AND OBSCURES VISION. WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY TOYOTA THAT IT COULD BE REPLACED, BUT ONLY BY A CERTAIN DATE. THIS HAS BECOME A HAZARD BECAUSE OF THE REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD. NOTHING REMOVES THE STICKINESS AND THE REFLECTION.
I OWN A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO MY DASHBOARD STARTED MELTING AND BECAME STICKY. THE STICKY RESIDUE THAT LEFT BEHIND CREATES A GLARE WHEN THE SUN HITS IT AND IT BECOME DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. WHAT STARTED OUT AS A SMALL AREA ON THE DASHBOARD HAS NOW BECOME MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD. WHEN I CONTACTED TOYOTA, THEY SAID THE RECALL AND WARRANTY TO GET THIS FIXED IS EXPIRED AND THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. I WAS HOPING TO PURCHASE A NEW CAMRY NEXT YEAR BUT WITH THE WAY THEY ARE HANDLING THIS SITUATION, ITS NOT LIKELY THAT I WILL.
THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAR MELTED DOWN WITH MANY SMALL DIGS DUE TO IT. IT HAS BEEN LIKE THAT FOR A LONG TIME BUT NOW IT BUILT UP TO CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH WHAT THE DASHBOARD IS MADE OUT OF.
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKED, SHINY AND STICKY, SERIOUSLY AFFECTING VIABILITY. I AM NOT THE FIRST OWNER OF THE VEHICLE.
2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEM WITH OIL CONSUMPTION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO IT BEING EXPIRED. THE CONSUMER DOES NOT AGREE WITH THE DECISION. *JS
BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN SUDDEN POWER BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO LANE BUSY ROAD AT A CURVE, THERE WAS A DING SOUND, THEN SIMULTANEOUSLY, A VSC WARNING MESSAGE AND MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. ONLY MANUAL BRAKING ALLOWED STOPPAGE OF VEHICLE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE HAD TRAGIC RESULTS .
I HAD RECEIVED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE LETTER FOR THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION MORE THAN A YEAR AGO. NO ISSUES UNTIL POSSIBLY OCTOBER 2017 WHEN OIL MAINTENANCE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON EVENT AFTER OIL CHANGE AFTER JUST 1000 MILES (USUALLY EVERY 5000 MILES BEFORE). THEN GOT CAR CHECKED OUT AND MECHANIC FOUND ALMOST NO OIL IN CAR. CAR WAS DRIVING POORLY WITH SOMETIMES STALLING. I GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND CAR WORKED FINE FOR 2 WEEKS AND HAD SAME PROBLEM.AGAIN, BY THIS TIME, I REMEMBERED THE WARRANTY AND WENT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TOLD ME THE WARRANTY WAS NOT VALID DUE TO CAR BEING OVER 10 YEARS OLD. ANYWAY THEY FILLED CAR WITH OIL AND TOLD ME TO RETURN IN 1100-1300 MILES FOR THE RESULTS OF THE TEST WHICH I WILL LATER KNOW. I DON'T HAVE MUCH HOPE OF GETTING THIS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT FELT VERY TIRED AND PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT TO SLEEP FOR THIRTY MINUTES. WHEN SHE AWAKENED, THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG ABNORMAL ODOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKED INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER ASKED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, LOST ALL MY OIL WITHIN OIL CHANGES,
MY 2008 TOYOTA SOLARA HEADLIGHTS ARE REALLY SCARY TO DRIVE WITH AT NIGHT. THE VISIBILITY IS ALMOST NONE. THE HIGH BEAMS ARE LIKE REGULAR BEAMS ON EVERY OTHER CAR. MY LOW BEAMS ARE NONEXISTENT. MY FRIEND HAS A 2007 TOYOTA SOLARA AND HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO ONLY BE TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT ADJUST AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. TO THE POINT I DO NOT EVEN DRIVE AT NIGHT, AND I AM A 33 YEAR OLD WOMAN. MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP AS WE SPEAK ONCE AGAIN DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. BUT NOT ONLY ARE THE BEAMS LOW, BUT BOTH ARE NOW NONFUNCTIONAL. THE SHOP CAN NOT FIND ANY DEFECT OR WIRES LOOSE. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE THAT THIS IS A ONGOING ISSUE AND A MANUFACTURER SITUATION.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON BRAKE PEDAL SINKS TO FLOOR. HAD THIS FIXED AS PART OF RECALL IN 2014. PROBLEM IS NOW BACK. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS JUST ABOVE MINIMUM. ADDED SOME BRAKE FLUID AND PROBLEM STOPPED.
STARTED CAR AND HAD IMMEDIATE BRAKE FAILURE!, ABS SYSTEM FAILURE. BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS AND BEEPING FROM DASHBOARD. CAR NOT DRIVE-ABLE.
2017 REGULAR OIL CHANGE I WAS TOLD OIL LEVEL WAS EXTREMELY LOW. NO EXPLANATION GIVEN TO ME. I WAS TOLD TO REGULARLY CHECK OIL LEVEL BETWEEN CHANGES. I HAVE BEEN ADDING OIL REGULARLY. UPON LOOKING FOR ANSWERS ON MY OWN, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE! I TALKED TO TOYOTA REP, AND HE ADMITTED THAT 2 LETTERS WERE MAILED TO ME, NONE OF WHICH I RECEIVED, REGARDING REPAIR OPTIONS BY TOYOTA. THIS OFFER EXPIRED IN 2018. I ASKED FOR ADDRESS, THEY DIDN'T HAVE THAT INFO. SO I ASKED IF ALL COMMUNICATIONS FROM TOYOTA COULD BE MADE BY EMAIL, THEY SAID NO. I FEEL EXTREMELY TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. I ALWAYS USED TOYOTA SERVICE TO AVOID PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS LACKING AND I FEEL I SHOULD STILL QUALIFY FOR A REPAIR BY TOYOTA.
JUST FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH AIR BAGS,, MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND WENT VERO BEACH TOYOTA AND THEY'RE NO HELP,, HOW CAN I GET HELP TO FIX THE AIRBAG AND IF POSSIBLE THE DASHBOARD
MY SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND IT SOUNDED LIKE MY TIRE BLEW OR SOMETHING ELSE AND THEN I HEARD AIR. I THOUGHT ONE OF THE WINDOWS WAS HIT BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY MY SUNROOF. THERE'S HUGE HOLE AND GLASS IS SHATTERED. I AM THANKFUL THAT IT WASN'T OPEN AND THAT MY SON WAS NOT IN THE CAR AT THE TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HORN WOULD SOUND INDEPENDENTLY WHEN MAKING RIGHT AND LEFT TURNS. ALSO, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER (WESTCHESTER TOYOTA SALES, 2167 CENTRAL PARK AVE, YONKERS, NY, 10710) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRACKET WITHIN THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL AND AIR BAG WERE PROPERLY INTACT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE CONTACT FELT THAT HE WAS NOT AT FAULT AND A CRASH DID NOT OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 158,000.
STICKY DASHBOARD CAUSING SERIOUS LIGHT REFLECTION WHEN DRIVING AND ENGINE BURNING LOTS OF OIL. HAVE TO KEEP UP WITH TOPPING ENGINE OIL OFTEN EVEN THOUGH OIL CHANGE NOT DUE
MY DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND SHINY. I HAVE TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO CLEAN IT, AND IT IS ONLY GETTING WORSE. WHEN DRIVING DURING THE DAY THE STICKY/ SHINY SURFACE CAUSES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. I LEARNED EARLIER TODAY THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY CAR REGARDING THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER THERE WAS AN EXPIRATION DATE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED WHICH HAS ALREADY PASSED. THEREFORE IN ORDER TO HAVE THIS FIXED I WILL HAVE TO PAY $1700 OUT OF POCKET. THAT IS RIDICULOUS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR AND ITS RIDICULOUS THAT I HAVE TO PAY TO FIX A DEFECT THAT IS NO FAULT OF MY OWN, BUT IS THE FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. I DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE, IF I HAD I WOULD OF HAD IT REPLACED ACCORDINGLY. THIS DASH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CANNOT PROPERLY SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE SHOULD NOT BE AN EXPIRATION DATE ON FIXING A SAFETY ISSUE!
DASH BOARD HAS A STICKY FILM ON IT AND POSES A SAFETY HAZARD.
MY VEHICLE HAS A OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I KNOW THERE WAS RECENTLY A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE HOWEVER I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA AND THEY STATED I NEEDED TO GET THE OIL CHANGED THEN DRIVE 1000 MILES. I DID AS THEY SAID AND TOOK IT BACK JUST FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED!!!! I NEVER RECIEVED ANY NOTICES VIA MAIL OR EMAIL. I FEEL AS THOUGH THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS OIL CONSUMPTION
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR OIL CONSUMPTION I BELIEVE IN THE SUMMER OF 2015. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH OIL CONSUMPTION AT THE TIME. HOWEVER AROUND OCTOBER 2015, I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE CAR WAS BURNING THROUGH OIL, I REQUESTED A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST---BUT IT CAME BACK THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE. AT THE TIME OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST MY CAR WAS AT 190,000 MILES. NOW, THE CAR IS STARTING TO BURN MORE OIL EVEN AFTER REGULAR OIL CHANGES FROM MOSS BROS TOYOTA IN MORENO VALLEY. I JUST GOT MY OIL CHANGED ON AUGUST 4TH 2017. WELL TWO WEEKS (8/18/2017) AFTER MY CHANGE I NOTICED THE OIL SENSOR WOULD FLASH EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP. I CHECK THE OIL IN MY CAR AND THERE WAS BARELY ANY ON THE DIPSTICK. AS A RESULT, I ADDED MORE OIL MYSELF TO AVOID BURNING UP THE ENGINE. I CALLED THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT MOSS BROS WHO HELPED ME TWO WEEKS PRIOR. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND TOLD HIM I HAD AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST 2 YEARS AGO AND WAS ADVISED EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. UNFORTUNATELY, HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING TOYOTA COULD DO TO HELP BECAUSE OF THE HIGH MILEAGE ON MY CAMRY. HE SAID IT WOULD COST $5,000 TO REPLACE THE PISTON RINGS OR $4000 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. AS A RESULT, I FILED A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA CONSUMER AFFAIRS (CASE#1708181590)--THE GIRL MELISSA ON THE PHONE DIDN'T WANT TO HELP AND TOLD ME TOYOTA WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO PAY FOR THE WARRANTY WORK BECAUSE OF HIGH MILES. TOYOTA KNEW THE PISTON RINGS WERE FAULTY FROM THE BEGINNING. THEY DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY OR HOURS/YEARS TRYING TO REPAIR/REPLACE ENGINES IN THESE CARS. SO THEY MAKE THE CONSUMER DO THIS STUPID WORTHLESS CONSUMPTION TEST TO AVOID RECALL REPAIRS. THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY TRYING TO AVOID TAKING CARE OF A PROBLEM THAT MANY OF US ARE FACING. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2007, BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT. TOOK IT IN FOR ALL OF THE REGULAR MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENTS AND KNOW THAT I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT.
STICKY DASHBOARD
DASHBOARD IS VERY SHINY AND STICKY - THE GLARE FROM THE DASHBOARD IN THE SUN OR AT NIGHT WITH LIGHTS IS VERY UNSAFE IN MY OPINION. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY ADVISED THEY SENT LETTERS ABOUT A WARRANTY EXTENSION WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED AND SAID AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO RECOURSE. THIS POSES AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I WAS SURPRISED THIS WASN'T A RECALL VS A WARRANTY EXTENSION. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR AND WE HAVE HIGH MILEAGE AS IT IS MY PRIMARY CAR THAT I DRIVE DAILY.
OIL LOSS
MY CAR HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED, EVERYTHING ON-TIME. BACK AUGUST, JIFFY LUBE TOLD US THAT MY CAR IS CONSUMING ABOUT 2 QT EVERY 3K MILES. I READ ABOUT IT AND IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH TOYOTAS, I NEED THEM TO RESOLVE MY CAR ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR ME TO CARRY WITH A MANUFACTURER FAULTS.
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD ONLY BEEN WORKING INTERMITTENTLY AND MY BRAKES SEEMED ROUGH. THE NIGHT BEFORE I BROUGHT MY CAR IN, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON. ON AUG 1, 2017, I GOT A DIAGNOSTIC AND IT WAS THE ABS ACTUATOR, BUT I WAS TOLD I ALSO NEEDED A BRAKE JOB AND AN ALIGNMENT SO I WENT AHEAD WITH THAT $1,000 JOB. THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE CRUISE CONTROL SINCE IT WAS "FUNCTIONING" AT THE TIME. I HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE ABS SYSTEM IN 2013 AND WAS TOLD THAT I MAY APPLY FOR A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THAT $3,600 JOB, BUT I AM NOW OUT OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY/SERVICE CAMPAIGN SO I COULD NOT GET REIMBURSED FOR THE CURRENT ABS FAILURE REPLACEMENT. AFTER MY BRAKE JOB AND ALIGNMENT, THE ROUGHNESS DID NOT SEEM TO IMPROVE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL CONTINUED TO MALFUNCTION. FOOLISHLY, I RATIONALIZED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE WORN IN, BUT SOON MY CAR STARTED WITH A HIGH PITCHED NOISE AS I GOT IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES ALSO SEEMED TO "SLIP" SOMETIMES WHEN INITIALLY STARTING THE CAR. (FOOT ON BRAKE, START CAR, PUT INTO DRIVE, AND CAR WOULD START TO ROLL UNTIL I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THEN REAPPLIED IT.) I WENT BACK TO TOYOTA HOPING FOR A MIRACLE AND THEY AGAIN SAID YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE ABS, BUT THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN HAD NOT BEEN RE-EXTENDED AND I WAS UNABLE TO AFFORD ANOTHER $3,600. SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY FAULTY VEHICLE OUT OF NECESSITY. ON OCTOBER 12, 2017, THE CAR BEGAN THE HIGH PITCHED NOISE AND THIS TIME IT DIDN'T STOP. I BEGAN DRIVING IN THE PARKING LOT SLOWLY (20 MPH) AND THEN THE BRAKES FAILED. WAS ABLE TO STOP BY PRESSING VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES. SINCE THAT DAY MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT MY WORKPLACE UNUSED. OBVIOUSLY, THE ABS SYSTEM THAT WAS REPLACED IN 2013 (STILL AWAITING REIMBURSEMENT) WAS REPLACED WITH ANOTHER BAD SYSTEM. WE NEED A RECALL!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD MELTED. THE LIQUID FROM THE FAILURE CREATED A BLINDING EFFECT AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD. VANDERGRIFF TOYOTA (1000 W INTERSTATE 20, ARLINGTON, TX 76017, (817) 533-4240) WAS CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
STICKY AND SHINY DASHBOARD. THE REFLECTION OF THE SHINING DASHBOARD IS CAUSING A LOT OF TROUBLE WHILE DRIVING. CANNOT GET A CLEAR VIEW OF THE ROAD IN THE FRONT WHEN THE DASHBOARD IS REFLECTED ON THE WINDSHIELD.

VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, I LOWERED MY VISOR TO LOOK IN MY MIRROR, ONCE I WAS DONE I TRIED TO RETURN MY VISOR TO ITS UP RIGHT POSITION AND IT WOULD NOT STAY. NOTHING LOOKS BROKEN BUT CLEARLY SOMETHING IS WRONG IF IT WONT STAY UP AND NOW IT IS IN MY LINE OF VISION FOR DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS, IT BLOCKS MY LINE OF SIGHT, I CANNOT EVEN PUSH IT UP AGAINST THE WINDOW(YOU KNOW LIKE YOU DO WHEN IT IS SUNNY OUT) FOR IT DOESN'T STAY AND FALLS BACK DOWN BLOCKING MY ABILITY TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD.
DASH HEADBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND WHEN DRIVING IN SUNNY CONDITIONS THERE IS A REALLY BAD GLARE.

DRIVING HOME IN THE AFTERNOON AFTER WORK IS SO DANGEROUS FOR ME BECAUSE WHEN IT REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD I CAN BARELY SEE ANYTHING. I ALSO BELIEVE IT MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THIS OILY FILM THAT HAS BEEN FORMING ON MY WINDSHIELD. I KEEP CLEANING BUT IT WON'T STAY CLEAN. IT LEAVES THIS IRIDESCENT FILM THAT JUST KEEPS FORMING AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,790.
I PURCHASED THE CAR IN SPRING OF 2015 AND AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OF HAVING THE CAR WHEN I WOULD BRING IN THE CAR FOR OIL CHANGES THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND ABOUT A YEAR AGO THE OIL WASN'T EVEN REGISTERING ON THE OIL STICK AND IT HAS BEEN BURNING OIL AT ABOUT 2 QUARTS EVERY 1000 TO 1500 MILES. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TODAY WHO CHECKED OUT TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO OIL LEAKS AND HE DID NOT SEE ANY SIGNS OF OIL OUTSIDE THE ENGINE AND ONLY SUGGESTION WAS TO PUT NEW MOTOR IN OR TEAR THE CURRENT MOTOR APART AND REPLACE ANYTHING WORN WHICH STILL MAY NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SO FOR NOW I'M GOING TO GET OIL TOPPED OFF EVERY 1000 MILES WHICH IS A MAJOR PAIN HAVING TO WATCH AND REMEMBER WHEN THE LAST TIME I WAS IN FOR A TOP OFF SO I DON'T RUN MY ENGINE DRY.
WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THERE IS NOW A HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE MOTOR AND TOYOTA TOLD US THAT IT ISN'T COVERED AND IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT BUT THEY WILL PUT IN A USED ONE FOR ABOUT $3000. HOW IS IT MY FAULT WHEN THEY SEAL EVERYTHING UP SO THAT I CAN NOT CHECK THE OIL LEVELS?
CHECK VSC SYSTEM ERROR, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ABS LIGHT AND EMERGENCY "!" LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN CAR WAS IDLE. BRAKES BECAME "SOFT". NEXT DAY, LIGHT WAS OFF UNTIL AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES, AGAIN SAME LIGHTS CAME ON AND BRAKES BECAME SOFT AGAIN AT A STOP LIGHT
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY IS MELTING, AND IN THE PROCESS BECOMING STICKY AND SHINY. THE STICKINESS IS A NUISANCE, BUT THE SHININESS IS A HAZARD AS IT PROMOTES HEAVY GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. IT MAKES ME ON A SUNNY DAY THEY CAN LOSE SIGHT OF THE ROAD, I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR DUE TO THE VISIBILITY. THIS IS ON THE NEWS, INTERNET. I DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY LETTER FROM TOYOTA ABOUT ENHANCEMENT WARRANTY AND EVEN WHEN I CHECK WITH TOYOTA DEALER THEY SAID IT HAS NO RECALLS. NOW TOYOTA SAID MY CAR OUT OF WARRANTY 7 MPNTHS AGO, AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
USES EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF ENGINE OIL. I GET MY OIL CHANGED AND VEHICLE SERVICED RELIGIOUSLY, AT TOYOTA, NO LESS.
THE LAST OIL CHANGE I HAD WITH MY CAMRY 2008 WAS IN FEBRUARY 2017. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2000 MILES IN 1.5 MONTHS AFTER THAT OIL CHANGE, I BEGAN TO NOTICE MY CAR PERFORMANCE HAD DEGRADED SO MUCH THAT I DECIDED TO CHECK THE OIL LEVEL. WHEN I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL I WAS SHOCK TO FIND THERE WAS NO OIL ON MY DIP STICK! I WENT TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP TO PICK UP 2 QUARTS AND ADDED TO MY ENGINE. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO DROP IT OFF AT A TOYOTA DEALER TO PERFORM THE OIL CONSUMPTION AFTER I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS DEFECT IN THE ENGINE ONLINE. IT FAILED THE TEST. AT THIS POINT MY MILEAGE WAS 194,600 AND MY CARS WAS 7 MONTHS SHORT OF TURNING 10 YEARS OLD. THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED WELL AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 150,000! I AM OUT OF LUCK AND TOYOTA REFUSED TO SERVICE MY CAR DUE TO THE EXPIRED WARRANTY!! I FEEL CHEATED OUT OF THE WARRANTY! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALL. HELP!
I HAVE A MELTING DASHBOARD THAT INTERFERES WITH MY VISION ON THE ROAD. MY DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND IT'S CRACKING AND IT MAKES THE CAR LESS ATTRACTIVE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE A RECALL ALREADY HAPPENED AND IT'S EXPIRED WHICH DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE BECAUSE I DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY NOTICE OF A RECALL. NOW ALL I ASK IS THAT THERE BE ANOTHER RECALL OR AT LEAST REPAIR THIS BECAUSE THERE'S ALREADY BEEN TIMES WHERE I ALMOST CRASHED DUE TO THIS AND ONE DAY I FEEL LIKE IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IF THIS DOESN'T GET REPAIRED.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY HAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE, BETWEEN OIL CHANGES I AM HAVING TO FIND SOMEONE TO CHECK AND ADD IN WHAT OIL THE CAR NEEDS. I AM 1 70 YEAR OLD SINGLE WOMAN AND NEED A VEHICLE THAT IS RELIABLE AND THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE NOR RELIABLE WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN OUT IN THE PUBLIC EYES FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND TOYOTA DOESN'T WANT TO HELP FIX IT THEY WANT ME TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR WHICH AT MY AGE I CANT DO SO.
IN JULY 2016 I BEGAN TO NOTICE MY CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO MAINTAIN IT'S POWER. WHEN I DROVE THE CAR AND STEPPED ON THE GAS IN WASN'T GETTING MUCH POWER. WHEN IN TRAFFIC OR STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IT WOULD STALL WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE OFF AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER AND THEY WORKED ON MY CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OF AND REMEDY THE PROBLEM BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. IN DECEMBER 2016 I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS LOSING POWER AND THE CAR WOULD STALL WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP, IT WAS RIGHT AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO TOYOTA FOR SERVICING AND THEY HAD A DIFFICULT TIME DETERMINING THE CAUSE BUT CAME TO A CONCLUSION THAT IT WAS A SENSOR CODE. I FOLLOWED THEIR ADVICE FOR SERVICING AND PAID FOR THE THE SENSOR CODE TO BE REPLACED. NOW WE'RE HERE IN MARCH 2017 AND I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SAME PATTERN WHERE THE CAR STRUGGLES TO GAIN POWER AND WHEN I DRIVE TO TO STOP IN TRAFFIC THE CAR BEGINS TO STALL. IT IS RIGHT AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I RETURNED TO TOYOTA FOR THE PROBLEM BUT HEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS BEING RETURNED WITHOUT A CAUSE.
