TAKATA RECALL THE SUNVISORS ON BOTH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HAVE FALLEN DOWN AND WON'T STAY UP. WE HAVE HAD TO REMOVE BOTH SUN VISORS AS THEY HANG DOWN AND THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS WAS FIRST NOTICE D WHILE DRIVING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PUT DRIVER;'S VISOR DOWN IT WOULD NOT STAY UP. EVENTUALLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR.
ENGINE IS BURNING OIL EXCESSIVELY
THE CAR'S PASSENGER VISOR KEEPS FALLING NOW. I HAD THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR REPLACED DURING THE RECALL.
INTERIOR VISORS BROKEN AND WON'T STAY UP AND KEEP FALLING INTO THE LINE OF SIGHT IMPAIRING VISION.
WE WISH TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT ABOUT EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION IN OUR 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID AND WHICH FELL OUTSIDE THE CRITERIA FOR THE APPROPRIATE REMEDY WHICH IS TO REBUILD THE ENGINE ACCORDING TO TOYOTA TSB 0094-11 "2AZ-FE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION". IN THE TSB, IT IS NOTED 'SOME 2006 ' 2011 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 2AZ-FE ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE PISTON ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN CHANGED TO MINIMIZE OIL CONSUMPTION.' WE HAD OUR 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID TESTED FEBRUARY 2015, WHICH WAS WITHIN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD OF 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER (TRI COUNTY TOYOTA, LIMERICK PA), OUR CAR DID NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR AN ENGINE REBUILD WHICH IS 'CONSUMPTION OF MORE THAN A QUART OF OIL OVER 1200 MILES.' ACCORDING TO THIS CRITERION, AN ENGINE WHICH WAS BURNING 3 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES (5,000 MILES) COULD MATHEMATICALLY FAIL THIS TEST BUT IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. THAT IS THE SITUATION WE NOW FIND OURSELVES IN. OUR CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ITS ENTIRE LIFE BUT HAS NOW USED 3 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES (5,000 MILES). IT IS NOT LEAKING THROUGH SEALS TO THE EXTERIOR, AND IS THEREFORE BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL, INDICATIVE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM WHICH IS THE SUBJECT OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED TSM. WE THEREFORE REQUEST THAT TOYOTA REBUILD THE ENGINE OF OUR CAR, FREE OF CHARGE, WITH THE MODIFIED PISTON ASSEMBLY TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY HOME AROUND THE LAST WEEK IN JANUARY AND THE 4TH OF FEBRUARY 2017. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR IT DIDN'T SOUND LIKE IT NORMALLY DOES AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I OPENED THE HOOD AND FOUND A SQUIRREL UNDERNEATH AND HAD A LOT OF DEBRIS. I FOUND THE COVERINGS CHEWED OFF THE WIRES SOME WIRES CHEWED INTO AND SOME HOSES CHEWED. THE INJECTOR WIRES WERE CHEWED TO THE #6 INJECTOR CAUSING IT TO RUN VERY SLOW UPHILL. THE INSULATION UNDER THE HOOD, OUTER COVER WAS CHEWED OFF AND PART OF THE INSULATION. I HAVE LIVED HERE MANY YEARS AND NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER VEHICLES EXCEPT ONE OTHER VEHICLE AT THE SAME TIME THIS HAPPENED. SINCE THEN I CAN'T KEEP THE SQUIRREL OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF MY VEHICLE I CHECK IT OFTEN AND THERE IS MORE DEBRIS UNDER THE HOOD SOMETIMES BUT NOT AS MUCH AS BEFORE. HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT THINGS TO KEEP THE RODENTS OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD BUT NOTHING IS WORKING PERMERNANTLY. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAS CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD AND AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT UNTIL I CAN AFFORD TO GET IT CHECKED OUT COMPLETELY. G
MY CAR ENGINE IS BURNING IS BURNING OIL MORE THAN USUAL IT BURNS ABOUT 3,75 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 5000 MILES I WENT TO OURISMAN TOYOTA DEALER IN FAIRFAX, VA AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT . THIS IS A FRAUD BECAUSE IN TOYOTA MANUAL IT SAYS THAT THE CAR TAKES 4,5 QUARTS ONLY BUT NOW BECAUSE MY ENGINE IS BURNING OIL I HAVE TO BUY MORE OIL (3,75 QUARTS PER 5000 MILES IN ADDITION TO THE ORIGINAL AMOUNT)AND ADD IT TO MY ENGINE IN ORDER TO AVOID BLOWING UP MY ENGINE
I HAVE A FOUL ODOR FROM MY A/C UNIT CAUSED BY MOLD/MILDEW. TOYOTA DID A FOAM/VENT TREATMENT, BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THE ISSUE.
LATE EVENING 1/10/17, WHILE MOVING AT 65MPH ON I-95, IN MODERATE TRAFFIC, MY DASH LIT UP AND BRIEF ALERT TONE SOUNDED. INDICATOR READ: "CHECK VSC," BRAKES PULSED & GOT HEAVY. LASTED 5 MINUTES, THEN ALERTS CLEARED. MADE A CALL TO HAVE A MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK ON 1/13, HOWEVER ON THE EVENING OF 1/12/17 WHILE MOVING AT LOW SPEED IN A FLOW OF CARS, MY BRAKES BEGAN CLUTCHING UP & BECAME VERY HEAVY & UNRESPONSIVE, MY DASH LIT UP & A HIGH-PITCHED ALERT TONE SOUNDED. THE BRAKE LIGHT, MAINTENANCE LIGHT & OTHERS LIT UP & DASH INDICATOR SAID "CHECK VSC SYSTEM... MAINT REQUIRED." WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, THE PEDAL PUSHED BACK, & AS I TRIED TO LIMP IT INTO THE PARKING LOT, THE BRAKES CONSTANTLY ENGAGED. I STOPPED TO WAIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, & TURNED THE CAR OFF BUT THE HIGH-PITCHED ALERT CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. FROM INSIDE THE CAR I COULD HEAR A WHIRRING NOISE IN THE FRONT END, IN THE AREA OF THE TIRES. I LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR AN HOUR OR TWO, AT WHICH POINT, THE ALERT TONE HAD STOPPED BUT THE WHIRRING NOISE CONTINUED. I GOT INSIDE & FOUND THE ELECTRONICS WERE DIM, MOST WERE NOT WORKING. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE & THE HIGH-PITCHED ALERT TONE RESUMED. RESISTANT FORCE CONTINUED IN THE BRAKE. I PUSHED THE START BUTTON A FEW TIMES, & EVENTUALLY THE DASH LIT BACK UP WITH ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS. THE CAR STARTED, BUT THE BRAKES PULSED AS IF CONSTANTLY ENGAGED & OCCASIONALLY BEING SLAMMED. IN GEAR, THE PROBLEMS PERSISTED, SO I GOT THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY & TURNED IT OFF. ALERT TONE & WHIR CONTINUED, ALONG WITH A BURNING KIND OF SMELL FROM THE AREA OF THE FRONT TIRES (RIGHT FRONT TIRE WELL FELT WARM). IT WAS DARK, SO I DIDN'T NOTICE IF THERE WAS SMOKE OF ANY COLOR. BECAUSE I WORRIED THAT THE WHIRRING MOTOR WAS GOING TO BURN UP & POSSIBLY EXACERBATE MATTERS, I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY & HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALER. I HAVE SOME VIDEOS IF THEY ARE HELPFUL.
WAS DRIVING NEAR 10 MILES PER HOUR, CITY STREETS (ALL THREE TIMES) . I WENT TO BRAKE, THE CHECK VSC LIGHTS AND OTHERS WENT ON AND THE BRAKES FAILED. STEERING WAS DIFFICULT, CAR SEEMED TO SHUT DOWN. HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. *TR
THIS VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM BECAUSE DRIVER-SIDE SUN VISORS WOULD STOP STAYING UP AND DROP DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. WE HAD OUR HIGHLANDER VISOR REPLACED UNDER THIS LATE 2012 PROGRAM. IT WAS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. NOW THE CAMRY WHICH IS OUR CREAM PUFF HAS THE PROBLEM AND TOYOTA SAID THE CSP HAS EXPIRED. THEY TREATED IT AS A COSMETIC ANNOYANCE BUT IT'S A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR DRIVERS 6' TALL OR MORE. THIS HAPPENS IN MANY SITUATIONS BUT IS MOST DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUPTION
I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH A 2AZ-FE ENGINE THAT BEGAN USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL AFTER ABOUT 120K MILES. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL TO NEED TO ADD OIL EVERY 1000 MILES OR SO. HOWEVER IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE ON AUGUST 11, 2011 WITH TSB #0094-11.
TOYOTA DEALER HAS CONDUCTED 3 SEPARATE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS ON MY CAR. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD MY CAR "PASSED" AND DID NOT MEET THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION. I CAN ONLY GO 1200-1800 MILES BEFORE I AM WARNED THAT MY OIL IS LOW. WE RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 1200 MILES AFTER MY LAST OIL CHANGE, MY CAR WAS REGISTERING "0" OIL. TOYOTA, WHILE KNOWING THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, ARE NOT HELPING ME AS A TOYOTA OWNER. I AM WARNED OF LOW OIL WHEN I BRAKE OR TURN. IN A SEPARATE INCIDENCE, I RECENTLY SPENT OVER $2500 ON THE BRAKE ACTUATOR AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH I READ ABOUT CAMRYS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, IT DID NOT INVOLVE THE NON-HYBRID CAMRY. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN I WAS WARNED BY THE CAR OF THE PROBLEM.
MY CAR IS CONSUMING LOT OF OIL, FOR EVERY 5000 MILES OIL CHANGE I NOTICED THAT THERE IS NOT A SINGLE DROP OF OIL LEFT IN THE ENGINE, I HAD A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT LONGO TOYOTA DEALER IN JANUARY, THEY ASKED ME TO COME WHEN THE I DROVE THE MILES BETWEEN 1100-1300, I TOOK MY CAR AT 1128 MILES AND AFTER THE TEST THEY SAID EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AND NO FURTHER TEST IS NEEDED, I SAID WHAT ARE YOU SAYING I SEE NOT A SINGLE DROP OF OIL LEFT IN THE ENGINE, THEY ARE SAYING IN ORDER TO FAIL THE TEST 1 QT OF OIL SHOULD BE CONSUMED FOR EVERY 1200 MILES BUT MY CAR CONSUME 3/4 QT OF OIL HENCE TEST IS PASSED.... WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WHY IS IT NORMAL TO CONSUME 3/4 QT OF OIL, THEY FAILED TO REALIZE THAT THERE IS NO OIL WHEN OIL CHANGE IS OCCURRED, AND NOW THE OTHER PROBLEM IS I CAN RETAKE THE TEST ONLY AFTER 6 MONTHS OR 5K MILES ON THE VEHICLE BUT MY 10 YEAR WARRANTY IS EXPIRING IN SEPT, NOT SURE WHY TOYOTA PUT THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY THEY SHOULD COVER THE WARRANTY ATLEAST 15 YEARS... I AM SICK OF TOYOTA NEVER GOING TO PURCHASE ANY TOYOTA VEHICLES, THEY DONT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES ...
I CHECK MY ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK AND OIL IS LOW. OIL CHANGE WAS CHANGED ONLY LAST MONTH.

WE GOT A RECALL ON DASH , TOOK IT IN AT THE TIME JAY WOLF TOYOTA ,WAS TOLD DASH NOT BAD ENOUGH TO FIX. TOOK IN NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER OFF 2017 SHOWING THEM THE DASH! THEY SAID THEY WILL FIX ! ONLY TO BE TOLD WE WHERE A MONTH OR TWO LATE..I CALLED AND COMPLAINED TO THERE MAIN OFFICE TELLING THEM OF MY COMPLAINT THEY BLAMED THE DEALER SHIP FOR NOT SHOWING WE TOOK IN A COUPLE YEARS EARLIER,.THE CAR IS A 2008 RECALL IS UP TO 2018 , THERE SAYING WE BOUGHT IT IN THE FALL OF 2007, SO WE ARE PAST TIME FRAME! MY COMPLAINT THEY SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT A COUPLE YEARS EARLIER WHEN THEY TOLD US THE DASH WASN'T BAD ENOUGH AT THAT TIME, WE BOUGHT AND USED JAY WOLF TOYOTA AT THAT TIME, WE QUIT GOING TO THEM BECAUSE OF THERE MECHANICS , AND THEY WENT THROUGH SEVERAL MANAGERS SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. I DELIVERED THE FORM LETTER FROM TOYOTA REPORTING THAT I SHOULD HAVE MY DASHBOARD REPLACED, I TOOK THE LETTER TO TOYOTA OF RICHARDSON AND WAS TOLD THE PART WOULD BE ORDERED AND I WOULD BE CALLED. I WAS NEVER CALLED, I HAVE TRIED EVERY 3 MONTHS TO RESOLVE THIS AND HAVE THE DASH REPLACED BUT NO ONE WILL RETURN MY REQUEST AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 3 YEARS NOW. I HAVE LEFT MESSAGES FOR SERVICE DEPT, SERVICE MANAGERS, AND GM OVER THE YEARS WITHOUT ANY CALL BACK
THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME STICKY AND IS CRACKING. IT ALSO PRODUCES A DANGEROUS BRIGHT SHINY GLARE ON SUNNY FLORIDA DAYS.
BURNING 1 QT OF OIL EVERY 600 MILES. TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT BUT WON'T FIX SINCE IT IS PAST THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THERE WAS A WARRANTY EXTENSION? THEY SAID THE DEALER WOULD TELL ME WHEN I GO INTO SERVICE. BUT, I SAY THAT I DON'T GO TO MY DEALER FOR SERVICE. THEY SAY THAT IS WHY I SHOULD GO TO A DEALER FOR SERVICE. REALLY SHADY WAY TO SAY YOU HAVE PROVIDED A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR A KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT BUT THEN DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE NOTIFICATION TO THE CONSUMER. I HAVE HAD THE OIL LIGHT GO ON WELL BEFORE THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. THIS DEFECT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO BURN UP TO 4 TO 5 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES SO CAN EASILY LEAD TO AN ENGINE FAILURE. THIS OIL CONSUMPTION DEFECT CAN CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE IN A MOVING VEHICLE SO IT IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. IF ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENS THEN IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
I'VE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE MAY 2016 AND EVERYTHING WORKED FINE UNTIL THIS MORNING WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR AND STARTED IT UP AND THEN TURNED ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED LEATHER SEAT. THERE WAS A STRONG BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE SEAT SO I IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT OFF. THE SEAT HAD BEEN TURNED ON 1 MINUTE OR LESS. I STORE MY CAR IN MY GARAGE AT ALL TIMES AND THERE IS NOTHING UNDER MY SEAT THAT COULD BE KEEPING THE WARMER FROM WORKING CORRECTLY. I HAVEN'T NOTICED THAT SMELL WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS UNABLE TO LATCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
ENGINE BURNS A QUART OF OIL EVERY 400-500 MILES
THE LOW OIL INDICATOR CAME ON A FEW MONTHS AGO. I CHECKED THE OIL AND I WAS OVER 3 QUARTS LOW. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DISMISSED IT AND TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS 3+ QUARTS LOW. I ASKED WHY IT GETS SO LOW BEFORE A LIGHT TURNS ON. THEY DIDN'T KNOW, BUT TOLD ME THERE WAS A NATIONAL REPAIR PROGRAM BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM WITH OIL CONSUMPTION. THE PROGRAM HAD JUST CLOSED AND I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY FOLLOW UP WARRANTY BECAUSE OF MILES ON THE CAR. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER MY CAR FOR ANY REPAIR. I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH LOW OIL BECAUSE THE INDICATOR DOES NOT WARN ME UNTIL THERE IS BARELY ANY OIL LEFT IN THE ENGINE. I DON'T KNOW THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE THAT HAS BEEN CAUSED BECAUSE OF THIS. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO CHECK MY OIL WEEKLY IN ORDER TO KEEP THE LEVELS UP AND PREVENT ANY FURTHER DAMAGE. I AM CONCERNED I WILL HAVE A TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE AT ANY TIME BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN FLAW AND REFUSAL BY TOYOTA TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT. I AM DRIVING A TIME BOMB. I CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL THIS CAR TO SOME UNSUSPECTING BUYER AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE CAR AT THIS TIME BECAUSE I AM IN SCHOOL. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. AT ANY TIME THE ENGINE COULD SEIZE UP AND WITH THE CAR BEING A HYBRID AND A UTILIZING A SPECIALTY TRANSMISSION, WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN, IT COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THIS IS NOT SAFE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO REPAIR ALL OF THE VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS KNOWN DEFECT. *TR

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
WHEN OUR CAR WAS IN MOTION, WE EXPERIENCED VERY LOUD AUDIBLE GRUNT ALONG WITH VERY POOR BREAKING. EXTREMELY SCARY SITUATION ESPECIALLY SINCE IT STARTED SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK AT ALL DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT. THE WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON AND LUCKILY WE WERE NOT YET ON THE EXPRESSWAY. WE MADE IT HOME AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP THE NEXT DAY. WE DROVE IT AROUND THE PARKING LOT WITH THE MECHANIC AND THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. WE HAD TO HAVE THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS PUMP/MODULE ASSEMBLY) REPLACED AT A COST OF $2,263. WE CONTACTED TOYOTA WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT REIMBURSE FOR THE ISSUE. WE HAVE READ ONLINE THAT OTHER ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED TO CONSUMERS AND IT SEEMS THAT ANYTHING THAT RESULTS IN TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE SHOULD WARRANTY A RECALL. TOYOTA HAD A RECALL 'FIX' FOR THE VISOR ON DRIVERS SIDE BRAKING AND FALLING DOWN BUT THEY ONLY FIXED THE LEFT DRIVERS AND NOT THE RIGHT PSGRS SIDE WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED BOTH AT THE TIME. NOW MY RIGHT SIDE IS BROKEN AND INHIBITING MY ABILITY TO VIEW ANY TRAFFIC ON THE RIGHT SIDE DUE TO IT'S HANGING DOWN AND WON'T GO UP AT ALL.
THE SUN VISOR ON 2007 TO 2011 TOYOTA CAMRY ARE DEFECTIVE. THEY DROOP AND EVENTUALLY FALL OFF DUE TO USAGE. THE VISOR HAS NOW FALLEN OFF TWICE. TOYOTA KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM 7 YEARS BUT IT CONTINUES TO FAIL OVER AND OVER. BAD DESIGN, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. ERROR CODE WAS B1801 - OPEN IN D SQUIB CIRCUIT. THIS INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS WHICH ACTIVATES THE AIRBAG. THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY OR "CLOCK-SPRING" WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER A CALL WITH TOYOTA, THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE IT WITHOUT CHARGE DUE TO OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS THE EXACT PART THAT WAS INVOLVED WITH 6.4 MILLION TOYOTAS OF VARIOUS LINES, INCLUDING CAMRYS. MY TOYOTA WAS NOT IN THE RECALL LIST BASED UPON VIN. AIRBAG WIRING HARNESSES THAT BREAK UNDER NORMAL USAGE LIKE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL SOUND DEFECTIVE. DOES THE ORIGINAL RECALL NEED TO BE REVIEWED AND EXPANDED?

THE DEALER EVEN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE MANUFACTURER PAID FOR HALF OF THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
