WARNING BUZZER, BRAKE, CHECK ENGINE, NO CRUISE CONTROL, HARD BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. I PAID TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSTIC, AND THE ABS ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH LABOR IS ALMOST US$1,700. ONLY SOMETHING THE SOUND OF THE BUZZER AND THE LIGHTS TURN OFF, AND BRAKE PERFECT. BUT MUST OF THE TIME, PERMANENT NOISE AND LIGHTS ARE ON. TO USE THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND NOISE NO GOOD FOR PASSENGERS. THE PROBLEM START WITH VEHICLE IN MOTION, IN THE CITY.
THE CRASH HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT ON MARCH 19TH, 2016. I HAD ENTERED INTO THE PARKING SPOT, BY TURNING RIGHT. THE CAR HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. SUDDENLY I HEARD A LOUD REVVING NOISE AND BEFORE I COULD EVEN REACT TO IT, THE CAR HAD JUMPED ON TO THE WALKWAY OF THE BUILDING. SINCE I HAD STOPPED, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND EVEN THOUGH I WAS PRESSING ON IT REALLY HARD, THE CAR DIDN'T STOP. IT SLOWED DOWN A LITTLE BIT FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND, BUT THEN ACCELERATED ITSELF AGAIN, JUMPED AHEAD ONCE MORE, WENT THROUGH THE AWNING OF A BUSINESS SUITE IN THE BUILDING AND HIT A LIGHT POST. THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. AS, I HAD TURNED RIGHT TO ENTER INTO THE PARKING SPOT, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND THE CAR TURNED RIGHT AND WENT PARALLEL TO THE CINDER BLOCK WALL OF THE BUILDING, INSTEAD OF GOING STRAIGHT AND HITTING THE WALL, WHICH COULD HAVE TURNED FATAL FOR ME AND MY CHILD. THIS VEHICAL HAD BEEN RECALLED EARLIER. I HAD RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA IN EARLY 2010 FOR "POTENTIAL FLOOR MAT INTERFERENCE WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL (SAFETY RECALL 90L)" AND HAD IT REPAIRED IN MAY 2010, FROM A LOCAL TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER.
WE ARE VERY FAITHFUL ABOUT GETTING OUT CAR'S OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. GOOD THING! WHEN WE RECEIVED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION THAT OUR CAR WAS COVERED FOR EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, WE STARTED WATCHING OUR OIL CONSUMPTION CLOSELY. WE WERE DEFINITELY GOING THROUGH A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. WE TOOK THE CAR IN TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IN MARCH 2016 AND WERE TOLD OUR CAR DIDN'T CONSUME ENOUGH OIL TO QUALIFY FOR THE REPAIR. WE KEPT AN EYE ON THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND TOOK IT BACK FOR ANOTHER TEST IN OCTOBER 2016--CONVINCED IT WOULD QUALIFY. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THE CAR AGAIN DID NOT QUALIFY. WE WERE FRUSTRATED BUT HAD LITTLE RECOURSE ON 10/24/16 WITH THE WARRANTY EXPIRING ON 10/31/16. OUR CAR IS NOW GOING THROUGH A QUART OF OIL EVERY 400-500 MILES. NO KIDDING. WE RESET THE TRIP ODOMETER EACH TIME WE ADD OIL AND ARE FAITHFUL ABOUT CHECKING IT ONCE IT GETS IN THAT 400-500 MILE RANGE. AT OUR MECHANIC'S SUGGESTION (HE ONLY WORKS ON TOYOTA'S BUT ISN'T AT A DEALERSHIP), WE CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS EARLIER THIS YEAR. (OUR MECHANIC HAS HIS OWN REASONS FOR NOT BEING IMPRESSED WITH THE DEALERSHIP WE HAD TAKEN OUR CAR TO FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTING.) MY HUSBAND WAS PUT ON HOLD FOR OVER AN HOUR AND THEN WAS DISCONNECTED. WE HAVEN'T TRIED PHONING TOYOTA AGAIN. WE HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL TOYOTA FANS AND OWNERS FOR DECADES BUT, AS A RESULT OF TOYOTA'S POOR HANDLING OF THIS PROBLEM, WE WILL LIKELY NOT BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA. IS THIS A SAFETY CONCERN? ABSOLUTELY! IT'S ALSO AN BUSINESS ETHICS CONCERN. WILL OUR OIL CONSUMPTION CONTINUE TO INCREASE AS RAPIDLY AS IT HAS IN THESE LAST 7-8 MONTHS. I HOPE NOT. WE'RE ALREADY ADDING A QUART OF OIL NEARLY EVERY WEEK. UNCONSCIONABLE!
WHEN SLOWING DOWN ON INTERSECTION ON THE STOP SIGN WITH THE INTENTION TO COMPLETELY STOP, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND REMOVED MY FOOT COMPLETELY FROM ACCELARATOR PEDAL. CAR ENGINE SUDDENLY REVS UP AND ENGINE RPM SHOOTS UP, I NEED TO PRESS BRAKE REALLY VERY HARD TO STOP THE CAR TO GO INTO THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION OR EVENTUALLY CAR WIILL ROLL INTO INTERSECTION AND I HAD TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION TO AVOID COLLISION WITH VEHICLES COMING ON CROSS INTERSECTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5-6 TIMES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC AND HE RAN THE DIAGNOSTICS TEST BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG. I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN FREEHOLD HE SUGGESTED TO REMOVE THE UNSECURED FLOOR MAT, WHICH I DID BUT STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE WAS EXPERIENCED YESTERDAY ALSO 2 TIMES.
WHEN I TOOK MY 2008 CAMRY IN TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE THEY FOUND NO OIL IN THE CAR. THEY SAID I NEEDED TO TAKE AN "OIL CONSUMPTION TEST". THEY DID SOMETHING TO MY CAR AND I DROVE FOR ANOTHER 2000 MILES AND BROUGHT IT BACK IN. I WAS TOLD IT HAD FAILED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THAT I WOULD BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST FOR REPAIR WHICH IS COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM TOYOTA. I WAS TOLD THE WAIT COULD BE AS LONG AS SIX MONTHS AND THAT IN THE MEANTIME IF MY CAR RUNS OUT OF OIL AND ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THE ENGINE, THE WARRANTY WOULD BE VOID. MY CAR MIGHT HAVE OIL IN THE MORNING AND THE BE COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL BY THE AFTERNOON. I FEEL I SHOULD BE GIVEN A LOAN CAR TO DRIVE WHILE I AM WAITING FOR THESE REPAIRS. I CONTACTED TOYOTA DIRECTLY IN CALIFORNIA AND THEY WOULD NOT APPROVE THIS REQUEST. THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR ARE HAVING TO BE MANUFACTURED AND THIS TAKES MONTHS. MY DEALER TOLD ME THERE ARE PEOPLE WAITING SINCE LAST YEAR FOR REPAIRS. I'M JUST ASKING FOR A CAR TO DRIVE WHILE I WAIT SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE MINE AND RISK VOIDING THE WARRANTY.
ENGINE IS USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL
TAKATA RECALL, WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION OFF AND VSC LIGHT CAME ON. I LOOKING IT UP AND SAID ITS THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL ANF THAT I NEED TO BRING IT IN TO THE DEALER. I ALSO LOOKED UP TO SEE IF A RECALL AND THERE WAS NONE, BUT SEEN OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLE THAT WE RE FOR THE SAME REASON. THE DEALER SAID MY CAR IN NOT ON RECALL AND I AM JUST WONDERING WHY. I HAVE ONLY 22,915 MILES ON IT AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE MASTER, BRAKE, ELECTRICAL CONTROL BRAKE, ABS, AND VSC SLIP INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, A CHECK VSC SYSTEM ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. UPDATED 04/19/16*LJ CONSUMER STATED THE CAR NOW MAKES A FUNNY CREAKY/GRINDING SOUND WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON OR SHUT OFF OR PUT IN GEAR OR TAKEN OUT OF GEAR. THE ACTUATOR WAS EVENTUALLY REPLACED. UPDATED 6/6/18*JB
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION.
HEADLIGHTS GO OUT WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION TURN SWITCHOFF AND BACK ON HEADLIGHTS WORK AGAIN TILL THEY GO OUT AGAIN, SAFETY CONCERN.THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT GO OUT ALSO SUPPOSED TO BE ON FOR " S AFETY" NOT VERY SAFE.AS FOR DATES BEEN HAPPENING FOR ALMOST A YEAR CALLED TOYOTA THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD.
ENGINE BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL. THREE QUARTS EVERY 2000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE REVVED ABNORMALLY AND ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A MANUFACTURER RECALL CONCERNING THE DASHBOARD AND THE DEALER HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO SUPPLY THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER FOR LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS AND WAS UNABLE TO GET A RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ENGINE IS USING ONE QUART OF OIL EVERY 500 MILES.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID ALL SUDDEN AFTER 2 MINUTES OF DRIVING, HAD ALL OF ITS WARNING LIGHTS ON (LIKE ABS, ENGINE...) AND WITH THE VCS WARNING TEXT ACROSS THE DASH BOARD. IT WAS VERY HARD TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO PULL IT OFF THE ROAD. I AM NOT SUE WHAT IS HAPPENING, BUT GOD FORBID IF THIS THING HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN ACCIDENT. THE CARD WAS IN NO DRIVABLE AND CONSTITUTED A HUGE HAZARD. A CAR MUST NEVER BE ALLOWED TO LOSE POWER SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING. SCARY EXPERIENCE AND MUST BE LOOKED BY THE RELEVANT AUTHORITY TO COMPEL TOYOTA TO INVESTIGATE AND MAY BE RECALL THOSE HYBRIDS.
MY CAR HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED NOT EVEN A MONTH AFTER BUYING OFF THE LOT
ENGINE USE 1 OUART OF OIL EVERY 600-700 MILES
WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR, THE PASSENGER SUNVISOR WOULDN'T STAY UP. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS ABOUT A $500-$600 PART & HE WASN'T GOING TO PAY TO FIX IT. BEING THAT I NEVER SAT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE IT DID NOT BOTHER ME. THERE WAS HOWEVER A RECALL ON THIS PART, & AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO ORDER THE PART & SCHEDULE TO GET THIS FIXED BY THE TIME ALLOTMENT THEY HAD PLACED. SO, MY ACTUAL COMPLAINT IS THAT THEY PLACED A TIME ALLOTMENT. BECAUSE, AFTER THAT TIME ALLOTMENT EXPIRED. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE. YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT HOW USEFUL A SUN VISOR TRULY IS, UNTIL YOU ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO USE IT. IT'S INSTALLED FOR A REASON, NOT TO BE SOMETHING FANCY IN A CAR. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES, THE SUN HAS PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO FAILURE TO SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC LIGHTS, ETC. CLEARLY, TOYOTA RECALLED THIS DUE TO THE MANY FAILURES IT HAD ALREADY RECEIVED. IF, I WAS AWARE THAT THE $500-$600 PART WAS GOING TO BREAK A MONTH AFTER IT'S RECALL DATE. I MOST LIKELY WOULD OF TRIED TO GET IT REPLACED SOMEHOW? OF, COURSE THEY WON'T FIX IT UNTIL IT'S BROKEN. IT'S GOING TO BE AWFULLY HARD TO GET A FAIR MARKET VALUE WHEN TRYING TO EVENTUALLY TRADE IN THE CAR OR SELL IT OUTRIGHT. WHEN, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. AND, NOBODY IS GOING TO PAY $500-$600 TO FIX THIS. SO, FOR MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES TO TRY & STOP A WRECK OR FATALITY FROM OCCURRING PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THANFULLY, MY AIRBAGS HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED YET! TOYOTA IS LIABLE FOR THIS, & THEY SHOULD BE MANDATED TO FIX THIS! THE RECALL WAS FOR 2007-2011 TOYOTA CAMRY'S
I AM GETTING RUNNING OUT OF ENGINE OIL, I HAVE TALK TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAY TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE FACING SAME PROBLEM I AM RUNNING OUT OIL AS LOW IN JUST 1000 MILE AND I HAVE DIAGNOSE AND THEY COULD NOT FOUND ANY PROBLEM. CAR RUNNING OUT OF OIL AND MAKING BIG NOISE AND SCARE TO DRIVE VEHICLE, I NEED SOLUTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AS THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A DRIVER IN ANOTHER VEHICLE ALERTED THAT BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STOP LAMP SWITCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE BOTH BRAKE LIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V091000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
STRUTS LEAKED AT 50K. TOYOTA REFUSED AND SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR STRUTS TO LEAK, DEALERSHIP TREATED ME RUDELY THOUGH I WAS INFORMED BY TWO MECHANICS TO HAVE THEM FIX THE ISSUE. CALLED CUSTOMER CARE AND REQUESTED THEY STEP IN, ALL 4 STRUTS ARE BROKEN, THEY OFFERED TO FIX TWO. I PURCHASED THE TOP OF THE LINE EXTENDED CARE WARRANTY, STILL NO RESOLVE. THE CAR WAS IN THE TOYOTA DEALER 12 DAYS BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED WITH NO MENTION OF THIS, A LOAD OF OTHER ISSUES NONE FIXED. TWO WEEKS AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED IT NEEDS NEW FRONT STRUTS. I PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES LAST YEAR AND THEY CANT BE ROTATED DUE TO WEAR FROM BAD STRUTS. I NEED ANOTHER SET OF TIRES TO STOP THE SHAKING THOUGH WAS INFORMED ONLY STRUTS WILL SAVE ME FROM BUYING ANOTHER SET IN 12 MONTHS. HELP RECALL THIS KNOWN ISSUE. I WILL HAPPILY RELEASE ALL TOYOTA RECORDS ....
I HAVE OWNED MY CAMRY FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND I BOUGHT IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER (FAMILY), WHO PURCHASED IT NEW OFF THE LOT IN 2009. SINCE 2010 THE CAR HAS STARTED TO BURN MORE AND MORE OIL. IN LATE 2015-2016 (AFTER THE OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL WAS CLOSED) MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED DUE TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION. DURING THE RECALL, I HAD IT CHECKED BY A DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THAT IT PASSED. AT THAT TIME I WAS ADDING AT LEAST A QUART EVERY 1000 MILES. THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS NORMAL. CURRENTLY I RUN THROUGH ALL OF THE OIL, MID WAY THROUGH THE OIL CHANGE PERIOD. I'M BURNING THROUGH ROUGHLY 4 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1500 MILES. IT COST ME OVER $1000 TO GET THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED, AND AT THIS CURRENT RATE I'M GOING TO NEED TO GET THE SECOND ONE REPLACED SOON. I LOVE MY CAR AND THIS IS THE ONLY PROBLEM I'VE HAD WITH IT. BUT THE RATE OF OIL BURNING IS EXCESSIVE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
REPLACEMENT SUN VISORS IS BROKEN
TOYOTA EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION ON THEIR CAMRY'S - ZE7 FOR "EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION". MY CAR WAS TESTED AND FAILED THE TEST IN JANUARY 2016. TOYOTA HAS NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AND I AM UNABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT. EACH TIME I CALL THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAY TOYOTA DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH PARTS AND THERE IS A BACKLOG OF THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES WAITING TO BE REPAIRED. AGAIN TODAY WHEN I CALLED, I WAS TOLD THEY ARE JUST NOW REPAIRING VEHICLES THAT FAILED THE TEST BACK IN MARCH OF 2015, FAILED THE TEST 15 MONTHS AGO, AND THAT MY VEHICLE WILL NOT BE REPAIRED FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. IF TOYOTA CAN PREPARE PARTS FOR NEW CAMRY SALES, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO PREPARE PARTS TO REPAIR VEHICLES THEY ALREADY SOLD. I HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE LOCAL OXMOORE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS TOYOTA CONSUMER AFFAIRS. MANY FAMILIES ARE GOING THROUGH THIS SAME ISSUE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO MAKE THIS A HIGHER PRIORITY AND STOP STRINGING FAMILIES (CUSTOMERS) ALONG. AS CONSUMERS, WHAT CAN WE DO?
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AWAY. THE GLARE CURRENTLY IS SO SEVERE I HAVE DIFFICULTY SEEING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD ON A SUNNY DAY. THE DASH LOOKS AS IF SOMEONE SPRAYED GLUE ALL OVER IT AND FEELS THAT WAY. I WAS AT THE DEALER IN JANURARY AS TOYOTA HAS A SAFETY CAMPAIGN CURRENTLY WHICH DOES NO GOOD IF THEY HAVE NO PARTS.
WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY, APPROX. 50 MPH, MY CAR ENGINE QUIT RUNNING WITH NO UNUSUAL NOISE, NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS. OIL WAS GONE, BUT THE OIL INDICATOR LIGHT HAD NOT LIGHTED. NO WARNING TO QUIT DRIVING BEFORE ENGINE DAMAGE WAS EXPERIENCED. THE ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN DISASSEMBLED FOR DEFINITIVE DIAGNOSIS, BUT TWO AUTO REPAIR SHOPS, ONE BEING A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE DEPT., HAVE INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE MUST BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS KNOCKING LOUDLY AND THE BEARINGS ARE PROBABLY OVERHEATED AND "WELDED" TO THE PART SURROUNDING THEM. I LEARNED FROM TOYOTA CORP. ABOUT THEIR "EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION" EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO STAND BEHIND THIS DEFECT IN MY CAR AND REFUSE TO PERFORM REPAIRS AT THEIR COST. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT A HIGHLY ABNORMAL EVENT HAS OCCURRED WITH MY CAR, GAVE ME NO WARNING TO ACT IN A SAFE MANNER, AND LED TO ENGINE FAILURE WITH REPAIRS ESTIMATED $5,300 - $7,600.

DURING AN ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 I RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE AIRBAG NOT INFLATING OR THE SEATBELT ENGAGING. I SPOKE WITH THE BODY SHOP AS TO WHY NEITHER SYSTEM WORKED AS DESIGNED, THEY COULD NOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION. THEY BELIEVED THAT THE SENSORS WERE COMPRESSED TO ENGAGE THE AIR BAGS BUT IT DID NOT ENGAGE. THEY ALSO NOTED THAT WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES THE SEATBELTS SHOULD HAVE LOCKED WHICH WOULD HAVE KEPT ME STATIONARY INSTEAD OF ALLOW ME TO HIT THE DRIVER DOOR JAM ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. BOTH VEHICLES WERE IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE THAT HIT ME MADE A LEFT TURN INTO MY FRONT LEFT QUARTER PANEL DAMAGING THE ENTIRE PANEL AND PART OF THE FRONT DRIVER DOOR.
I PURCHASED A USED/CERTIFIED 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY IN 2012. I HAD NOT NOTICED ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN I KEPT HEARING A BUMPING SOUND COMING FROM THE THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE, AFTER HAVING THE TIRES AIR PRESSURE CHECKED THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE GONE. HOWEVER, LATER THE CAR BEGAN PULLING TO THE LEFT, WHENEVER I DROVE ON A SIDE STREET, THE PULLING WAS NOT THERE ON THE FREEWAY. THINGS CHANGED ON THIS PAST SUNDAY, ON MY WAY TO TAKE MY GRANDCHILDREN HOME FROM CHURCH THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND THE CAR PULLED SHARPLY TO THE LEFT AND I DECIDED TO PULL OFF THE STREET, I WAS AFRAID TO CONTINUE DRIVING BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO PUT MY GRANDCHILDREN IN ANY FURTHER DANGER. I HAD TO CALL MY DAUGHTER TO COME PICK US UP. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO GET A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING WHEEL THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING IS STILL THERE, WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR!
MY TELESCOPING STEERING WHEEL LATCH WILL STAY LOCKED.AND MY REAR WINDOW SHADE WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN HAMPERING ME WHEN I BACKUP AT NIGHT. AND THIS HAPPENS WITH THIS WHEN IN MOTION ARE NOT MOVING.

THIS HAS TO BE A SERIOUS QUALITY ISSUE. MY WARRANTY EXPIRED LAST YEAR BUT THE POOR QUALITY OF THE CAMRY VISORS CANNOT BE EXCUSED. DASHBOARD HAS BECOME SO STICKY TO THE TOUCH THAT IT CAN LONGER BE CLEANED. IT IS OMITTING SOME SORT OF AIR POLLUTANT THAT IS CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO BE HARD TO LOOK THROUGH. IT ALSO CAUSING A STRONG GLARE WHEN SUN IS OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD AT CERTAIN ANGLES TO THE SUN. CALLED TOYOTA OF ORLANDO (866-945-0493) AND SPOKE TO ASHLEY IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON OR ABOUT 11/03/2015 AND SHE CONFIRMED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AND SHE SAID THEY WOULD ORDER THE DASH THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. HAVE CALLED NO LESS THEN SIX TIMES TO FOLLOW UP ONLY TO BE TOLD THE PART HAS NOT ARRIVED YET. IT HAS BEEN SIX MONTHS NOW SINCE THE REQUEST FOR SERVICE WAS ORIGINALLY PLACED.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY VISOR ON DRIVER SIDE, I WENT TO TOYOTA OF LEWISVILLE, TX, THE MANAGER OF SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL, HE TREAT ME LIKE IT IS MY FAULT, IT IS QUALITY PROBLEM, IT IS SO SAD YOU DRIVING THE GOOD CAR BUT IT HAS A LOT OF PROBLEM.

WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2015. I WAS INFORMED THAT A RECALL WAS GOING TO TAKE PLACE ON THE DASH BOARD. THIS WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT SUN WAS MAKING A STICKY GLAZE TO FORM. THIS IS HAZARDOUS BECAUSE IT OFTEN CREATES A BLINDING GLARE DURING THE DAY WHILE DRIVING AND EVEN WHILE PARKED.

THE CAR MADE A 'DING' SOUND WHEN THE BREAKS WERE APPLIED WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. UPON CHECKING, I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW - THE DIP STICK SHOWED NO OIL ON IT. I WAS ALARMED AND IMMEDIATELY ADDED 3 QUARTS OF OIL - FOR OIL TO SHOW UP ON THE DIP STICK. AT FIRST, I FIGURED THAT, MAYBE AT THE PREVIOUS OIL CHANGE, SUFFICIENT OIL WAS NOT ADDED. SOON THEREAFTER, I GOT AN OIL CHANGE. ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER I BEGAN TO HEAR THE 'DING' SOUND AGAIN. I CHECKED THE OIL AND FOUND THAT IT WAS LOW AND AGAIN IT DID NOT EVEN REGISTER ON THE DIP STICK. I ADDED 3 QUARTS OF OIL AND PROCEEDED TO GET AN OIL CHANGE; THIS TIME WITH TANSKY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THIS TIME I WAS CONCERNED AND CHECKED ALL THE MAIL I HAD RECEIVED FROM TOYOTA AND NOTICED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT LETTER THAT STATED - 2008 CAMRY'S HAD AN 'OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM'. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO TANSKY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM AND THEY BEGAN AN 'OIL CONSUMPTION TEST'. AFTER THE TEST, THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND THAT IT WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. CLEARLY, I WAS NOT CONVINCED WITH THE REPORT AND CHALLENGED THE ADVISER. HE REMAINED ADAMANT THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND THAT THE TEST RESULT WAS NORMAL; HE TOLD ME TO CHECK AND ADD OIL AS NEEDED REGULARLY. I CONTACTED THE GENERAL MANAGER OF TANSKY. SHE HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER, CALL BACK A WEEK LATER. HE NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE CAR HAD AN 'OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM'; RATHER THAT THIS IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE AND ADVISED THAT THE OIL BE REPLENISHED ON A REGULAR BASIS. I RESPONDED THAT, THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ON MY OTHER TOYOTA CARS; BUT MY WORDS FELL ON DEAF EARS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE; IN ADDITION THE PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE, SHOULD THE OIL BE DEPLETED WHILE ON LONG DISTANCE TRIPS.
PURCHASED A USED 2008 CAMRY ON 7/15/15. THE CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THE OIL CHANGE RIGHT BEFORE I GOT IT AND I STILL HAD OVER 900 MILES LEFT BEFORE I HIT THE 3000 MILE MARK TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGE DONE. WE CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DRY. NOT A DRIP ON THE DIP STICK! I THINK IT'S SAFE TO SAY THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE.
THE EXHAUST SHIELD THAT PROTECTS THE FUEL TANK FROM EXHAUST HEAT FELL OFF. UPON INSPECTION, IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE FASTENERS USED TO INSTALL THIS CRITICAL HEAT SHIELD ARE OF A DISSIMILAR METAL TO THE HEAT SHIELD ITSELF. THIS IS EVIDENCED BY CORROSION ELECTROLYSIS AROUND THE FASTENERS ONLY, THE REST OF THE SHIELD IS CORROSION FREE. A LITTLE RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THAT COULD PROVE DANGEROUS IF NOT CORRECTED.
JUST PURCHASED A USED 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY ON 7/15/15. ON 9/1/15 WE WERE DRIVING AT ABOUT 25MPH. WHEN WE PUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR DOWN TO PROTECT AGAINST THE CRUCIAL SUNLIGHT THE VISOR SNAPPED! CURRENTLY WILL NOT STAY UP OR COMPLETELY DOWN. THIS IS CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE ITS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WITH THE VISOR SNAPPED.

THE NOTICE GAVE YOU 7 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE WHICH SEEM LIKE A LONG TIME. THEY STATED ONLY TO BRING IT IN IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. I DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM UNTIL 9 MONTHS PASS THE 7 YEARS. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VISOR FELL DOWN BLOCKING MY VIEW. I HAD TO REMOVE IT IN ORDER TO SEE THE ROAD. MY QUESTION IS WHY WAS THIS ISSUED AS A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE INSTEAD OF A RECALL. THEY MUST KNOW THAT CUSTOMERS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT SINCE THEY ISSUED THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE.

WOULD HAVE HAD IT REPLACED EARLIER. NEED SOME HELP AND OPTIONS.
