FRONT (LEFT) DRIVER SIDE SPRING IS BROKEN NEAR THE UPPER SUP.. SEEMS LIKE IT BROKE MORE BECAUSE OF CORROSION THAN FATIGUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND BLACK SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE DOOR. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE WITH THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V491000 (VISIBILITY). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
AUGUST 10 2015 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WHEN THE WINDOWS BEGAN TO GO UP AND DOWN BY IT SELF THEN THE DRIVER WINDOW BEGAN TO SMOKE I PULLED OVER WHERE I WAS AND GOT OUT TO GET HELP BY THE TIME I GOT BACK OUT THE DRIVER DOOR HAD FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE CAR ALL THE DOORS LOCKED AND BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPT GOT THERE THEY HAD TO PRY THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN NOTHING ELECTRICAL WORKED THEY GOT THE FIRE OUT AND MY CAR WAS CONCIDERED A TOTAL LOSS TOYOTA CAME OUT TO LOOK AT MY CAR IN SEPTEMBER AND I GOT A RESPONSE IN OCTOBER WHERE MY CASE MANAGER TROY HIGGA TOLD ME IT WAS DO TO THE RECALL THAT MY CAR COUGHT FIRE AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF ANY FINANCE THAT I PAID OUT OF POCKET HERE WE ARE 10 MONTHS LATER I HAVE HEARD NOTHING IM OVER 6000$ IN DEPT MY CREDIT MESSED UP AND MY SAVINGS GONE WHEN I GOT THAT RECALL IN THE MAIL I DID CALL TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN YET THEY WOULD CONTACT ME BACK WHEN THEY HAD IT IN ALSO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. UPON MAKING A TURN, THE SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATOR CHIMED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE OIL WAS ROUTINELY MAINTAINED, BUT THE PRESSURE CONTINUED TO BE LOW. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW. THE DEALER PROVIDED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FOR LONGER THAN THREE MONTHS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE AND THE ENGINE MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. PURCHASE A 2008 CAMRY AND NOTICE THAT THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND SHINY AND REAL MESS. I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA PLACE BECAUSE OF A RECALLED ON THE POWER SWITCH IN AUGUST 2015. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A RECALLED ON THE DASH BOARD BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP. TODAY I CALLED AND WAS ROUTED TO A SALESMAN WHO WAS TRYING TO GET ME TO PURCHASE ANOTHER TOYOTA. I DON'T THINK I WILL PURCHASE ANOTHER TOYOTA. MY FIRST ONE WAS GREAT A 2005. BUT THIS SECOND ONE 2008 HAS MADE ME NOT BELIEVE IN THE PRODUCT ANYMORE. WHAT HAPPEN TO TOYOTA DEPENDABILITY? THIS IS WHAT MADE ME BUY THE PRODUCT IN THE FIRST PLACE. ACCOUNTABILITY AND DEPENDABILITY HAS DISAPPEAR FOR MOST CAR COMPANIES. WHAT'S A CONSUMER TO DO JUST LIE DOWN AND TAKE POOR WORKMANSHIP?
HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION
THE DRIVER SEAT HAS A TEAR IN IT AND THERE ARE ONLY 120,000 MILES ON THE CAR. IT TORN ON A CRACK IN THE LEATHER ON THE SEAT. ALSO - THE DASH HAS CRACKS ALL THROUGH IT BUT WE HEARD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. IS THAT TRUE? THE DASH SURFACE IS STICKY AND HARD TO CLEAN.
WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BEGAN TO SLOWLY DROP DOWN AND EVENTUALLY FELL COMPLETELY OFF FALLING INTO MY FACE AND ONTO MY LAP. THE VISOR APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN OFF AT THE POINT WHERE IT IS HELD TO THE CAR ITSELF. THERE WAS NO WARNING IT WAS ABOUT TO BREAK COMPLETELY OFF AND FALL ON MY FACE. WHEN TOYOTA WAS CALLED TO CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS A KNOW ISSUE, TOYOTA'S RESPONSE WAS THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. APPARENTLY THE SUN VISORS ARE DROOPING AND BREAKING ON SELECT MODELS, CAUSING THEN TO FALL OFF. THEY ADVISED MY VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THIS VISOR ISSUE. HOWEVER, THERE IS NOT A RECALL. I ADVISED TOYOTA THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK OFTEN DRIVING IN THE DIRECTION OF DIRECT SUN. NOT HAVING A VISOR IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I NOW AM CONCERNED ABVOUT THIS ISSUE. TOYOTA'S RESPONSE WAS THIS IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER THE VEHICLE WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR COST. TOYOTA ADVISED IF I WANTED TO HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED, I WOULD NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE AT MY COST. THIS ISSUE IS MORE AROUND SAFETY AND SUPPORTING THE "KNOWN ISSUE." I NOW AM AT RISK OF AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT A WORKING VISOR DUE TO THIS KNOWN ISSUE WHICH TOYOTA THEMSELVES IDENTIFIED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE SUN VISOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY AND ENCOUNTERED THE CONTACTS HEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
WHILE THIS VEHICLE IN THE DASHBOARD THE RPM KEEP ON FLAPPING UP AND DOWN , SPEEDOMETER STAYED STILL IN THE LOWER POSITION , THE A/C KEEP ON TURN ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON
THE SPEEDOMETER SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING, MY ABS/BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN AC SUDDENLY WENT OUT. TOYOTA STATED I NEEDED A BRAKE ACTUATOR. THE REPAIR COST $2615. MY QUESTION TO THEM IS WHY WAS THERE A RECALL FOR THE SAME PART ON THE2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. I HAVE NEVER HAD OR HEARD OF A REPAIR ON THIS PART. OF COURSE, MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ONE AFTERNOON WHEN ALL THE INDICATORS ON MY DASHBOARD TURNED ON AND STATED "CHECK VSC SYSTEM". I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH TOYOTA SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 2, 2015. AFTER THE INDICATORS TURNED ON, I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHEN I NOTICED AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. I PRESSED THE BRAKES BUT MY CAR FAILED TO STOP, AND I HAD TO SHIFT TO PARK TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. THE TOYOTA SERVICEMAN INFORMED ME THE BRAKE ACTUATOR WAS THE PROBLEM. HE FURTHER CLAIMED THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SINCE THE CAR HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT 3 YEARS AGO AND WANTED TO CHARGE ME $1,500. HOW CAN AN ACCIDENT 3 YEARS AGO CAUSE MY BRAKE ACTUATOR TO SUDDENLY FAIL LAST MONTH? I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR FEAR OF AN ACCIDENT; DESPITE THE ACCIDENT TOYOTA SHOULD HONOR THE LSC AND FIX THE ACTUATOR INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR A PROBLEM THEY CAUSED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO REPAIR THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.*DT*JB
GOLF SIZE HOLE IN THE ENGINE ACCORDING TO THE ADJUSTOR. INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR WAS SERVICED ON TIME. THE OIL LIGHT USED TO COME ON OCCASION ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT. THIS WAS WITHIN SERVICE STICKER WINDOW. EACH TIME OIL (1QT TO 2QT) WAS ADDED TO THE TANK. ON THE DATE OF INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING, WE FELT LIKE WE DROVE OVER A METAL OBJECT THAT IMPACTED THE ENGINE. CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE ENGINE BLEW UP ON IT OWN. IF IT DID - THAT IS A MAJOR ISSUE AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED UNNECESSARY DAMAGES BOTH TO VEHICLE AND DRIVERS.
I HAVE A CUP HOLDER IS BROKEN, IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S SINKED IN, I DO NOT KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS , PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING IN THE HEAT. IT GET'S STICKY AND SHINY IN THE HEAT AND REFLECTS A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. YOU CAN PUT YOUR HAND ON IT AND IT STICKS TO THE DASH AND YOU COULD PEAL THE SURFACE OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND THE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,337.
THE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN. IT OCCURRED THROUGH NORMAL USE. THE CARS THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THE 2007 TO 2011 CAMRY. TOYOTA IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.
THE SUN VISOR BECAME WEAK AND HAS BROKEN COMPLETELY. I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY THE VISOR HAS LESS THAN THE AVERAGE AMOUNT OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VISOR ITSELF WILL NOT STAY UP IN THE PROPER POSITION NOR STAY DOWN/BACK (MORE FLATLY ADJACENT TO THE WINDSHIELD). THIS CAUSES DECREASED/AWKWARD VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING IN GENERAL AND OFFERS NO RELIEF WHEN NEEDED FROM DRIVING INTO THE SUN'S PATH. IT IS ALSO VERY DISTRACTING (EVEN FRUSTRATING) WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION 1QT EVERY 500 MILES
THE PASSENGER SIDE SUNVISOR FLOPS DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVERS VIEW.
VSC CHECK ENGINE ERROR CAME ON DISPLAY ALONG WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, ABS, PARKING BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND SOMETHING ELSE. I WAS COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND EXITING THE OFF-RAMP WHEN THE CAR BINGED, ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON, THE CHECK VSC CAME ON AND THE BRAKES HICCUPED. I WAS ALREADY PULLING OFF THE HIGHWAY, SO I TURNED ONTO A SIDE STREET. PARKED, AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. THE ERROR CAME ON AGAIN, BUT THEN WENT OUT.

ON MAY 22, 2015, WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR, THE SUN VISOR WAS DOWN. I TRIED TO PUT IT BACK INTO ITS PROPER PLACE, BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY UP. NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED, IT KEPT FLOPPING DOWN, OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW WHEN DRIVING. IF I PUSH IT FORWARD TOWARD THE FRONT WINDOW, I CAN SEE BETTER, BUT STILL I DON'T HAVE MAXIMUM VISIBILITY. IT FLOPS BACK DOWN AT TIMES, TOTALLY BLOCKING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD AND THE REVIEW MIRROR. THIS IS A DEFINITELY SAFETY HAZARD AND IF AUTHORITIES WERE AWARE, I WOULD PROBABLY BE GIVEN A CITATION FOR DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR. WHEN IT FLOPS DOWN AND OBSTRUCTS VIEW OF THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, THE ONLY WAY I CAN SEE WHAT IS BEHIND ME IS BY USING THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS WHICH TAKES LONGER AND, THEREFORE, COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I FIND THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SUN VISOR PROBLEM, YET TOYOTA CONTINUES TO DENY RESPONSIBILITY. IF THIS IS THE WAY TOYOTA STANDS BEHIND THEIR CARS, I NEED TO RETURN TO NISSAN FOR MY NEXT CAR.
ABS & BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 CAMRY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO 0 AND A/C IS SHUT OFF. I TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALER TO CHECK THE PROBLEM. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS AN ABS ACTUATOR PROBLEM AND QUOTED $2500 FOR REPLACEMENT. I SURFED INTERNET AND FOUND THAT 2007-2011 CAMRY HYBRIDS HAD EXACT SAME PROBLEM COVERED BY TOYOTA USING WARRANTY EXTENSION. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT COVERED. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT IN THE RANGE SO IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. FAILURE TO FIX THIS PART IS GOING TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT CAN LEAD TO BRAKE FAILURE. CASE # OPENED WITH TOYOTA IS [XXX]. TOYOTA DID A RECALL ON THE DASH OF THE CARS GETTING STICKY AND CRACKING. THEY INDICATED THEY WERE REPLACING ALL OF THESE AFFECTED. THIS NOTICE CAME TO ME IN 2015. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER, AUTOWAY TOYOTA IN CLEARWATER, FL. THAT I WAS 96 ON THE REPLACEMENT LIST WITH THEM. I JUST CALLED ONE YEAR LATER TO CHECK STATUS AND THEY SAID I WAS #89. THEY INDICATED THEY ONLY GET A FEW REPLACEMENT DASHES A WEEK AND THEY COULD GIVE ME NO ANSWER HOW MUCH LONGER IT WOULD BE. KEEP IN MIND YOU CANNOT SELL OR TRADE THE CAR GIVEN THE CRACKED DASH. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THEY WERE ONLY PRODUCING A FEW NEW DASHES PER DAY AND THAT THEY HAD OVER 1 MILL. CLAIMS. I DON'T FEEL THIS IS ACCEPTABLE AND I WONDERED IF YOU COULD HELP OR WHETHER I SHOULD WRITE TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.
THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME AFTER AN OIL CHANGED MY DASH BOARD IS MELTING.
I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT-LINE HIGHWAY AT 55MPH IN DRY CONDITIONS WHEN SUDDENLY "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING INDICATOR DISPLAYED. BRAKE LIGHT, BRAKE ICON AND ABS ICONS ALSO ILLUMINATED. ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER, SYSTEM RETURNED TO NORMAL WHILE STILL DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT CLASP RETAINER ON THE DRIVER SIDE FAILED TO RETRACT FROM THE HARNESS. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SEAT BELT CLASP RETAINER WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,360.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE TURNED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED ARM AND BACK INJURIES AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
MELTING DASH BOARD
FRONT STRUTS NEED REPLACEMENT, LESS THAN 90,000 MILES ON THE CAR. VERY DISAPPOINTING. *TR
ENGINE OIL BURNING OFF WAY TO FAST. I HAVE TO ADD 1 QT EVERY 1,200 - 1,500 MILES. I TOOK MY CAT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND PASSED. BUT I DID NOTICE THAT THEY USE 5-20 OIL. WHICH I BELIEVE IS WHY IT PASSED. BECAUSE I USE 0-20 OIL, JUST LIKE MY OWNERS MANUAL SAYS. SO I'M NOT SURE.
I WAS IN CENTER LANE. DRIVER IN RIGHT LANE CHANGED LANES AND STRUCK MY 08 CAMRY IN PASSENGER SIDE. THIS FORCED MY CAR HEAD FIRST INTO A CONCRETE WALL. A 3RD VEHICLE THEN STRUCK THE DRIVERS DOOR. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE ER BY AMBULANCE. I INCURRED SHOULDER, NECK AND HEAD INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. CAR WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
IN MARCH OF 2015, WHILE LEAVING MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT PARKING LOT THE FLOOR MAT APPARENTLY INTERFERED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING THE CAR TO SPEED UP RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL, HITTING A FIRE HYDRANT HEAD ON. A LETTER FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY INDICATED THAT I WAS NOT AT FAULT AT CAUSING THE ACCIDENT BUT RATHER THE ACCIDENT WAS THE RESULT OF ONE OR MORE RECALLS WITH REGARD TO BRAKING CONCERNS: IN THE LETTER MY INSURANCE COMPANY REFERENCED A RECALL NOTICE; NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V017000. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA REGARDING THIS MATTER; HOWEVER M REQUESTS HAVE GONE UNANSWERED OR HAVE BEEN IGNORED. WHEN MY CAR WAS TOTALED MY INSURANCE PAID THE FAIR MARKET VALUE TO THE LENDER WHICH ENDED UP CREATING A DEFICIENCY. I'M STRUGGLING TRY TO PAY FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE AS WELL AS PAYING THE DEFICIENCY.
WHILE DRIVING OR IDLING, BRAKE AND ABS LIGHT GET LIT AND SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING, ODOMETER IS JUMPING UP AND DOWN AND HEAT NEEDLE IS INTERMITTENTLY GOING NORMAL/COLD. THE MILEAGE METER IS NOT WORKING AND THIS ALL GOES AWAY WHEN THOSE LIGHTS EITHER RESET ON THEIR OWN OR SOME OTHER WAY NOT KNOWN TO ME HOW. WHILE DRIVING, NOT KNOWING HOW FAST THIS VEHICLE GOING IS VERY DANGEROUS, I AM A FEMALE AND I DRIVE MOST SO THE TIME DURING NIGHTS AND I AM VERY WORRY IF SOMETHING HAPPENS. I WENT FOR TOYOTA SERVICE AND THEY MENTIONED THAT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THIS SITUATION WAS THAT I DID NOT BRING MY CAR FOR MAINTENANCE WITH TOYOTA IN THE FIRST TWO YEARS WHICH IS NOT TRUE. I WANT TO KNOW IF TOYOTA IS NOT DOING SOMETHING ON THIS REGARDS, I DO NOT HAVE THAT QUANTITY OF MONEY TO CORRECT THE SITUATION AND THEY MENTIONED THAT IF IT IS NOT CORRECTED I WILL HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE BRAKES WILL FAIL. *TR
OIL CONSUMPTION. AT 78,000 MILES REQUIRED A QUART OF OIL AFTER 3,000 MILES BUT GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. NOW AT 135,794 MILES USED A QUART OF OIL AFTER JUST 459 MILES.
CAR HAS ABS,BRAKE WARNING,VSC,AND MASTER BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ON. FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SPRING PREMATURELY FRACTURED AND THEN MONTHS LATER, THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE SPRINGS PREMATURELY FRACTURED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPAIRED THE VEHICLE FOR THE FAILURE THAT HAPPENED TWICE, ON EACH SIDE IN THE FRONT. IT WAS MENTIONED THAT THE METAL MATERIAL MIGHT NOT BE STRUCTURALLY SOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,902.
OIL LIGHT WENT ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO SUN TOYOTA, HOLIDAY, FL. THEY ADVISED ME TO HAVE AN OIL CHANGE AT MY EXPENSE AND TO COME BACK LATER TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY ISSUES. I CALLED LATER AND THEY SAID IT WAS TOO EARLY AND TO COME BACK AT ABOUT 1100 MILES. IN THE MEANTIME, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA RE. WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT UP TO 10 YEARS AND 150K MILES FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I WAS UNABLE TO RETURN UNTIL TODAY (3/28/15) DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS. THE MILEAGE WAS 1568 SINCE THE OIL CHANGE AND THEY SAID IT WAS TOO LATE AND OUTSIDE THEIR PARAMETERS. THEY WOULD NOT DO THE TEST AGAIN FOR 6 MONTHS. I ASKED THEM TO AT LEAST CHECK THE OIL AND THEY DID SO AT MY INSISTENCE AND 2 QUARTS NEEDED TO BE ADDED AND THEY ADVISED ME IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH LOW OIL AND TO CHECK THE OIL EVERY WEEK AND ADD OIL AS NECESSARY. I COMPLAINED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING FOR 6 MOS. I PHONED THE NATIONAL TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT EXISTED BUT REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING FOR 6 MONTHS. THEY WANT ME TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGE DONE AGAIN AT MY EXPENSE FOR A SECOND TIME AND TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS FOR THEIR DEFECTIVE VEHICLE AT MY EXPENSE. THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AT THEIR EXPENSE FOR 6 MONTHS. I THINK THEY SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE OIL CHANGE AND THE DIAGNOSTICS AND THE REPAIRS IMMEDIATELY AT THEIR EXPENSE. THANK YOU. *TR
INTERIOR HEAD LINING IS COMING DOWN. IT STARTED ON THE BACK WINDSHIELD. IT WAS HANGING DOWN SO I SEE IT WHEN I USE MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. NOW IT IS COMING OFF ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDSHIELD. ALSO FRONT DRIVER VISOR. ALSO STICKY DASHBOARD.
I HAVE A 2008 CAMRY LE AND IN EARLIER THIS YEAR I NOTICED THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY, TACHOMETER BOUNCES UP AND DOWN AND SPEEDOMETER SHOWS 0. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY. UNLOCKING AND RE-LOCKING THE DOOR LOCKS RESETS TO NORMAL BUT ONLY LASTS SO LONG. LIKE SOME MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS , I AM CONCERNED ABOUT PAYING $3-4 K. A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER MECHANIC SAID HE'D NEVER SEEN A BRAKE ACTUATOR ON A CAMRY GO BAD. REALLY. I WOULD HOPE TOYOTA WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE A SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO RESOLVE THIS. JUST LIKE THE ONE THEY HAVE GOING FOR THE HYBRID CAMRY IN THE SAME MODEL YEAR RANGE. I HAVE NOTICED EXCEESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION SINCE 2015 IS 2016 AND HAVE GONE THROUGH NUMEROUS REPAIRS ONLY TO STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE LATEST ESTIMATE IS FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE AFTER ALL OF THIS TIME ONE GUY ACTUALLY NOTICED THAT THE OIL WAS LITERALLY BURNING UP RIGHT AFTER HE CHANGED THE OIL. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT WITH A TODDLER FOR HOURS, AS WELL AS NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE CAR AT TIMES. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED MY CAR RANDOMLY SHAKING AND SMOKING IN TRAFFIC, AFTER WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. MY CAR HAS BEEN STATIONARY FOR WEEKS AT A TIME, MOST RECENTLY THIS PAST WEEK AFTER I WAS UNABLE TO FIND OUT WHO COULD FIX IT AND NOT KEEP RIPPING ME OFF. TO FIND OUT THERE WAS KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ISSUE BY TOYOTA AND NOTHING WAS SENT TO ME SAYS A LOT ABOUT HOW THE LIVES OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, AND/OR THEIR CUSTOMER FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD, ARE ACTUALLY VALUED. THE NUMBER OF CAMRY'S MANUFACTURED AND SOLD TO UNKNOWINGLY TRUSTING CONSUMERS IS BOTH SHOCKING AND SCARY.
