I BOUGHT THIS CAMRY 08 LAST YEAR AT 43000 MILES ON IT, WHEN I DRIVE IT ON THE FREEWAY OR CITY ROAD , THE FRONT END WAS BOUNCE EXESSIVELY AND NOT REALLY STABLE. AFTER I DO THE INSPECTION AND CHECK THE STRUT, THE FRONT RIGHT STRUT NEED REPLACEMENT (IT'S BOUNCING A LOT WHEN I PUSH IT DOWN AND RELEASE). MY COMPLAINT IS WHY IT FAIL FOR ONLY 45000 MILES?. IS THIS SUPPOSE TO BE A RECALL FOR REPLACEMENT?. BECAUSE IT INVOLVE SAFETY DRIVING. AND I READ, THERE 30 COMPLAINTS ALREADY ABOUT THIS SUSPENSION.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND STICKY. IT CAUSES GLARE INTERFERING MY VIEW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN ADDITION, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD DROP TO ZERO AND THE RPMS REVVED UP. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE'S MODEL YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,685. UPDATED 12/03/14*LJ UPDATED 10/1/2015 *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, AND THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE INDICATORS WERE STILL ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY VEHICLE HAS BECOME EXTREMELY STICKY AND IS PEELING AWAY AS I WIPE IT. *TR
DASHBOARD HAS BECOME STICKY WILL COLLECT DUST AND DEBRIS, GOTTEN SO SHINY THAT THERE IS A GLARE AND MAKES IT HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE REFLECTION OF THE SHINE ON THE WINDOW. BOUGHT 2014 AND DIDN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE WARRANTY NOTICE ABOUT THE DASH. THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR AND AFRAID IT'S MAKING OUR DRIVES DANGEROUS
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. COMPUTER INDICATED THE TRANSMISSION CRANK SENSOR WAS OPERATING INTERMITTENTLY AND COULD CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO CEASE OPERATING. REPLACED THE SENSOR, WHICH WAS HARD TO GET AS TOYOTA CANNOT KEEP IT IN STOCK, DUE TO FAILURES OF THE SENSOR.
THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME AND FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS THE SUN AND HOT WEATHER OF SOUTH FLORIDA HAS CAUSED TE DASHBOARD MATERIAL TO BECOME STICKY, SOFT, BEGINNING TO CRACK. FREQUENTLY THE SHINNY DASHBOARD SURFACE ENHANCES THE REFLECTION OF SUN LIGHT INTO THE WINDSHIELD, CREATING A SAFETY VISION ISSUE. *JS
I HAVE A TOYOTA CAMRY 2008 WITH 31,500 MILES DASHBOARD ARE MELTY AND STICKY, MY CONCERN IS THIS AFFECT AIR BAGS ALSO THIS LOOKS LIKE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT DUE TO MANY COMPLAINS ON NETWORKS. I WENT TO A TOYOTA DEALER THEY'RE WILLING TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR LABOR. THAT'S IS TELLING YOU THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I DECIDE TO FIXED BUT I TOLD THEM IS ANY RECALL COMES UP THEY WILL NEED TO REIMBURSE MY MONEY DUE TO THIS IS FACTORY DEFECT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WE ARE NOT SURE THIS AFFECT AIRBAGS AND SHINE REFLECT ON THE DASHBOARD CAN AFFECT YOUR VISION WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. *TR
SINCE THE TEMPERATURE STARTED TO RISE HERE IN TX, MY 2008 CAMRY DASHBOARD HAS BECOME EXTREMELY STICKY. WHEN I TRIED CLEANING IT, I NOTICED THAT MY FINGER NAIL CHIPPED AWAY PIECES OF THE DASHBOARD. WHILE TRYING TO WIPE THE DASHBOARD, THE RAG IS ALSO STICKING TO THE DASHBOARD. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME, I'VE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL AND WAS NOT RESPONDING TO THE STEERING. IT STARTED SWAYING AND HIT THE CEMENT BARRIER ON THE LEFT. THIS LOOKS LIKE A INTERNAL CAR FAILURE. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR SINCE 2008 AND HAD BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. IT IS COMPLETELY UP TO DATE WITH THE MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGE ETC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SLOWLY ENTERING A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO MULTIPLE BUSHES, SIDE SWEPT A TREE AND THEN LANDED ON A SIDE ROAD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. UPDATED 09/05/14*LJ THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE EVENT DATA RECORDER WAS REMOVED BY TOYOTA AND THE RESULTS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MADE AVAILABLE WITHIN 30 DAYS. UPDATED 12/3/2014 *JS
MY CAR IS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION EXCEPT MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. IT IS STICKY AND CANNOT BE TOUCHED, IT HAS BECOME WORSE IN THE LAST MONTH AND WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE CAR SERVICED, THE TOYOTA SERVICE SAID IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WOULD BE $500+. I HAVE NOTED THAT SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND TOYOTA MFG. IS GETTING AWAY WITH A WIDESPREAD DEFECT THAT IS COSTLY TO REPAIR. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER AS THIS WILL HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE TRADE VALUE, PERSONAL SELL VALUE AND ALSO THE ELECTRONICS WITHIN THE DASHBOARD. *TR
MAY/2014 WAS MY LAST OIL CHANGE BEFORE MY NEXT SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AUGUST/2014. MY OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR DID SIGNAL THAT THERE WAS LOW OIL PRESSURE.I HAD DRIVEN MY CAR EARLIER THAT MORNING THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT SOMETHING BAD WAS GOING ON. LATER THAT AFTERNOON, I WAS GOING TO WORK AND TRIED TO LEAVE AND THE CAR MADE A SLUGGISH NOISE LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO CRANK UP. I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS AT FIRST, THEN I HEARD A RATTLING SOUND FROM THE HOOD.UPON LOOKING AT THE OIL GAUGE, MY CAR WAS SEVERELY DEPLETED OF OIL. EVEN AFTER PUTTING OIL IN THE CAR, ENGINE DAMAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE, LEAVING ME WITHOUT A VEHICLE. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THE ENGINE WAS BADLY DAMAGED. AND THAT I COULD EITHER PURCHASE ANOTHER USED ENGINE OR A NEW ENGINE. BOTH HAVE BEEN QUOTED TO BE IN EXCESS OF $4500 AND UP. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND THAT THE 2008 CAMRY IS KNOWN TO HAVE THIS SORT OF OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR A YEAR AGO JUNE 2013. AND I STILL OWE A BALANCE. THIS IS MY SIXTH TOYOTA VEHICLE PURCHASE AND HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH NEITHER CARS UNTIL NOW. TOYOTA HAS A REPUTATION FOR GOOD QUALITY CARS THAT LAST A WHILE. I WOULDN'T WANT THIS INCIDENT TO DETER ME FROM PURCHASING ANOTHER TOYOTA VEHICLE IN THE FUTURE. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS MOLTEN AND BECOME SHINY. THE WINDSHIELD REFLECTS LIGHT FROM THE DASHBOARD THAT MAY CAUSE ACCIDENT DUE TO POOR DRIVER'S VISION. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID WITH 85,000 MILES IN JULY 2ND OF 2014. SINCE I GOT THIS CAR FROM DEALER IN A AUCTION FIRST I WENT CLOSES TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER TO CHANGE THE OIL AND DO THE 85000 MILE SERVICE SO I CAN KEEP THE CAR PROTECTED. AND THEY TALL ME PERFORM THE MAINTAIN ON IT BUT THEY IS WANING LIGHT FOR ABS AND ANOTHER WANING CHECK VSC SYSTEM THEY ASSUME MAY BE FAULT IN COMPUTER SYSTEM WITCH REPAIR COST AROUND $3000 AND THE ADVICE ME TO RETURN THE CART DEALER. I SPEND ALL MY MONEY IN THE BUYING THE CAR SO CAN'T SPEND ANY MORE MONEY. THEN I CONTACT THE DEALER BUT TO RETURN THE CAR BUT THEY DON'T ACCEPT THE CAR BACK. SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY CHOICE I START DRIVING THE CAR BACK TO HOME. SUDDENLY NONSTOP BUZZER SOUND CAME UP ALONG WITH THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" /BRAKE, HAZARD, WARNING, AND ABS LIGHTS ITS MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I TRY TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL; IT WAS JUST LIKE A ROCK NOT MOVING A BIT I THOUGHT I GONE DIE. LUCKILY I ABLE BRING IT TO SAFE PLACE. NOW CAR IS SITTING IN MY HOME DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT. I RESEARCH THE PROBLEM IN THE INTERNET, NOTICE SO MANY-MANY 07- 08 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID CUSTOMERS HAVE THE EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. SINCE MANY 07- 08 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM SO I HOPE TOYOTA RECALL THE ABS ACCUMULATOR AND FIX BEFORE ANYBODY GET DIE OR BE CRITICALLY INJURED. THANK YOU *TR
ON THE FREEWAY, I PULLED MY SUN VISOR DOWN AND IT "FLOPPED" DOWN AND COULDN'T BE PUT IN EITHER THE UP OR DOWN POSITION. IN THE SITUATION I WAS IN, I HAD TO STEER WITH ONE HAND WHILE HOLDING THE VISOR UP OUT OF THE WAY SO I COULD SEE. I SENSED THIS WAS NOT A SAFE THING TO DO SO I JUST PULLED THE VISOR OFF COMPLETELY. I'D HAD A LITTLE DIFFICULTY WITH IT NOT STAYING IN POSITION BEFORE BUT THIS WAS MUCH WORSE. I ASKED TOYOTA TO FIX IT, BUT INSTEAD THEY OFFERED ME A $750 DISCOUNT ON MY NEXT PURCHASE!!! I TOLD THEM THAT ONE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER. I ALSO ASKED THEM TO CHECK ON LINE WITH IPETITIONS THAT HAD 527 SIGNATURES WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
AS THE DASH GET HOT FROM THE FLORIDA SUN IT BECOMES STICKY AND IS EASILY DAMAGED FROM THE HEAT. THE DASH HAS CRACKED AROUND THE RADIO. THE CRACKS ARE WORSE AS TIME GOES BY. *JS
I LIVE IN FL AND MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THIS IS CAUSING A HUGE GLARE WHEN I DRIVE ON THE WINDOW. BEING 90 YEARS OLD I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. THE DASHBOARD ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY APPEARS TO BE SLOWLY MELTING LEAVING BEHIND A STICKY RESIDUE AND A SHINE ON 90% OF THE FLAT SURFACE. THE REAL HAZARD IS THAT THE SHINE ON THE DASHBOARD REFLECTS ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY IN DAYLIGHT. THE STICKINESS OF-COURSE IS A NUISANCE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE STICKINESS IS LESS IN THE MORNING BUT INCREASES AS THE SUN COMES OUT. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER BUT THEY REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT SINCE IT IS NOT A PART THAT IS BROKEN. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I HAVE THE INTERIOR DETAILED WHICH I DON'T WANT TO DO IN THE FEAR THE SURFACE ON THE DASHBOARD WILL COME OFF! *TR
MY DASHBOARD HAS "MELTED" AND THERE IS AN ANNOYING GLARE CAUSING A "WHITEOUT" WHILE DRIVING. THE DASHBOARD IS EXTREMELY STICKY AND WHEN YOU RUB IT, THE DASHBOARD IS REMOVED IN LITTLE PIECES. THERE IS SUCH A GLARE OFF THE DASHBOARD FROM THE SUN THAT IT BLOCKS MY ABILITY TO SEE THE ROAD CLEARLY AT TIMES. *TR
THE DASH IS HAS BECOME SOFT AND SHINY, OTHERS ONLINE HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES "MELTING CAMRY DASH" OR "STICKY CAMRY DASH". THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE DASH IS SO SHINY NOW (WAS NOT ORIGINALLY) IT REFLECTS LIGHT BACK ONTO THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT. *TR
DISCOVERED ENGINE IS CONSUMING EXCESSIVE OIL, CAUSING OIL PRESSURE LIGHT TO FLASH ON MOMENTARILY DURING A SUDDEN QUICK STOP. ENGINE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED WITHIN PRESCRIBED INTERVALS FOR OIL CHANGES USING APPROVED OPTIONAL 0W20 OIL. NOW IT APPEARS TO BE CONSUMING OVER 1 QUART PER 1500 MILES. HAVEN'T TAKEN THIS PROBLEM TO A DEALER YET, BUT FROM WHAT I'M READING IN OTHER COMPLAINTS, TOYOTA HAS STEADFASTLY REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. UNLIKE OTHERS, I HAVE TOYOTA'S FULL BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY, GOOD FOR 7 YEARS OR 10800 MILES. I'M NOT SURE EVEN THAT WOULD MOVE TOYOTA, SINCE THEY COULD SIMPLY STALL UNTIL THE VEHICLE PURCHASED 6 YEARS AGO IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE ENGINE PROBABLY WON'T DIE COMPLETELY UNTIL AFTER THEN, AS LONG AS I KEEP THE OIL LEVEL WHERE IT SHOULD BE. HOWEVER, I SHOULDN'T NEED TO CHECK THE OIL SO OFTEN, WHEN THE SERVICE INTERVAL IS SUPPOSED TO BE 5000 MILES, THERE ARE NO LEAKS, AND I'M USING AMSOIL, A PREMIUM SYNTHETIC OIL. *TR
2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE BEGAN LURCHING, BUCKING AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. *TGW THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A COMPUTER FAILURE, WHICH WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE ABS. APPLIED BRAKES IN A PANIC STOP ON I-95, PEDAL DROPPED AND CHECK VSC LIGHT CAME ON. PEDAL WAS HARD TO MANAGE FOR SEVERAL MILES AFTER 1ST INCIDENT. PEDAL FEEL WOULD RISE AND DROP FEELING LIKE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. WHEN ARRIVING HOME AND PULLING IN THE DRIVEWAY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD DROP AND CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS NOT GOING TO STOP GOING INTO THE GARAGE. ONCE INSIDE GARAGE I COULD HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A PUMP CONSTANTLY RUNNING. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HEARD THIS NOISE FOR THIS LONG SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. WHENEVER I APPROACH THE CAR WITH THE KEY OR OPEN A DOOR, THIS NOISE IS HEARD FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS, SOMETIMES REPEATEDLY. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND PARKED IN OUR GARAGE! I OWN A TOYOTA CAMRY 2008 LE (4 CYL. ). I HAD TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR SERVICING SEVERAL TIMES (NORMAL OIL CHANGES), THE DEALER NOTICED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS GETTING SHINY, DISINTEGRATING AND FALLING APART. THEY TOOK PHOTOS OF IT AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPLACE IT WHEN TOYOTA GRANTED THEM PERMISSION TO DO SO. ON JUNE 19, 2014, I WAS CALLED BY A FEMALE FROM THE DEALER AND TOLD THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PART ( ALLEGEDLY THE PART COSTS $2200.00, AND THEY WOULD BEAR THE COSTS OF THE PART), BUT SINCE I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, BUT SECOND OWNER, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY LABOR COSTS OF $525.00. OBVIOUSLY, I DO NOT WANT TO PART WITH $525.00 FOR A FAULTY, CHEAP, BADLY ENGINEERED PART WHICH HAS SAFETY ISSUES AND OR DESIGN FLAWS, AND REPLACE IT WITH ANOTHER ONE OF THE SAME KIND. IF REPLACING THE DASHBOARD IS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT SHOULD NOT MATTER IF YOU ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNER OR NOT. I THOUGHT THAT THE STANDARD TO BE USED IS WHETHER THE CAR IS SAFE OR NOT. APPARENTLY TOYOTA HAS FORGOTTEN ABOUT MAKING CARS SAFE. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY IN SEPTEMBER 2012 AND SHORTLY AFTER THE DASHBOARD STARTED MELTING. IT IS NOW VERY STICKY AND CONTINUES TO MELT. BECAUSE OF THE MELTING, THE WINDSHIELD PRODUCES A GLARE AND MAKES DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT DURING THE DAY. I CANNOT DRIVE UNLESS I AM WEARING POLARIZED SUNGLASSES, WHICH HELPS MINIMIZE THE GLARE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE CONSTANT GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE REFLECTION OF THE MELTING DASHBOARD. I AM ESPECIALLY NERVOUS WHEN I HAVE TO DRIVE MY 10 MONTH OLD NIECE AROUND! NOTHING WILL CLEAN THE DASHBOARD AND IT CONTINUES TO MELT BECOMING STICKIER WHICH IN TURNS CAUSES EVERY LITTLE PARTICLE OF LINT, DUST, GRIME, ETC TO STICK TO THE DASHBOARD. I EVEN USE A SUNSHADE DAILY TO HELP KEEP MY CAR COOLER AND I ALSO PARK IN THE GARAGE AT HOME, BUT THE DASH STILL MELTS AND IS STICKY. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH TOYOTA'S QUALITY! *JS

I OWN A 2008 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE SPORT V6. UPON DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I NOTICED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT (L) WENT OUT AND HAD TO FLIP THE HEADLIGHTS OFF AND ON TO TURN IT ON. AFTER A FEW MILES THE (R) LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OFF AND HAD TO FLIP THE HEADLIGHTS OFF AND ON AGAIN TO TURN IT ON. I NOTICED AFTER SEEING THE REFLECTION OFF ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT THEY WERE BOTH OFF AND HAD TO SWITCH THE HEADLIGHTS OFF AND ON ONCE AGAIN. I'M NOT SURE WHEN EXACTLY THIS STARTED BUT IF I HAD NOT LOOKED INTO THE REFLECTION OF THE CAR AHEAD OF ME I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE LIGHTS OFF. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD. I OWN A 2001 TOYOTA SOLARA SE V6 (12 YRS) NEVER HAD A LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ISSUE AND THAT CAR HAS OVER 273000 MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULD BE TOYOTA'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPLACING THE FAULTY HEADLIGHT EQUIPMENT AND NOT THE OWNER.
THE TOP OF THE ENTIRE DASH IS MELTING CAUSING A VERY HIGH GLOSS APPEARANCE WHICH MAKES A GLARE ON THE INSIDE OF WINDSHIELD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT ESPECIALLY WITH LIGHTS FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC GLARING OF WINDSHIELD. IT ALSO HAS SOME GLARE DURING THE DAY AS YOU CAN SEE THE SHINY DASH REFLECTING OFF THE INSIDE OF WINDSHIELD. SOME DAYS WORSE THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON THE TEMPERATURE OR AMOUNT THE SUN HAS BEEN HITTING THE TOP OF DASH THUS MELTING IT MORE AND MAKING IT MORE SHINY. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE 40 EAST, THE STEERING LOCKED AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. ULTIMATELY THE VEHICLE FLIPPED AND ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES WINDING UP IN THE MEDIAN FACING WEST. *TR

THE ABS LIGHT ON MY DASH STARTED APPEARING INTERMITTENTLY IN OCTOBER; THE MECHANIC SAID THE CODES WERE INCONSISTENT AND MUST BE DIAGNOSED BY DEALER. DEALER EVALUATED IN FEBRUARY; THEY FIRST SUGGESTED IT WAS MY ABS ECU GOING BAD ($2400); UPON PRODDING, THEY SAID JUST MY REAR TIRE SENSOR MUST BE REPLACED ($600). THE INCONSISTENT ANSWER AND COST HAS DETERRED MY FROM REPLACING EITHER. INTERNET SEARCH INDICATED MANY PEOPLE HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEM AND AFTER MANY MISDIAGNOSIS, ABS ECU APPEARS TO BE CULPRIT. LAST WEEK, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT LIT ON DASH; TACHOMETER, TEMP GAUGE AND SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO. CAR DROVE AND BRAKED OK. GAUGES FLUCTUATED FROM NORMAL READINGS (AVERAGE TEMP, TACH 3000RPM, MID-LEVEL TEMP) TO ALL VALUES AT ZERO, EVEN WHEN I AM DRIVING 65MPH ACCORDING TO GPS READING. READINGS WOULD RECOVER AND FAIL CONTINUOUSLY, AND IN OTHER CASES WORKED PROPERLY FOR 30 MILES. IN SOME CASES, AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD. FURTHER INTERNET SEARCHES SUGGEST AC, DASH LIGHTS, ABS ALL POINT TO BOSCH ABS ECU. I FOUND THREE NHTSA COMPLAINTS THAT LOOK SAME/SIMILAR FOR CAMRY: 10587648, 10555094, 10521931. REPORTS FOR ABS ON OTHER CARS SOUND SIMILAR (POSSIBLY BOSCH ECU?). THE FAULT CODES POINTED TO MULTIPLE TIRE SENSORS FAILING AT ONE TIME; OTHER FAILURE CODES WERE ALSO REPORTED. THE FAULTS DID NOT POINT TO THE ECU. WHILE ABS IS NOT NECESSARY FOR DRIVING, IT IS DESIRABLE. HOWEVER, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A FINANCIAL BURDEN TO HAVE WRONG OR INCONCLUSIVE CODES THAT EITHER LEAD TO FIXING THE WRONG THING (TIRE SENSOR VS ECU) OR PREVENTING SAFETY INFORMATION FROM BEING PROPERLY REPORTED (0 MPH, ENGINE TEMP 0, BRAKE LIGHT ON, ETC). I HAVE NOT DECIDED TO REPLACE ECU YET, AS I AM STILL TRYING TO CONFIRM THERE IS NO OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEM THAT WILL COST EVEN MORE THAN $2400. *TR
WHILE LEAVING WORK NOTICED THAT BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP. I HAD TO LEAVE A LOT OF ROOM IN ORDER TO COME TO A FULL STOP. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, AT APPROXIMATELY 4:00 PM, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, I NOTICED MY DASHBOARD PANEL LIGHTS FLUTTERING, AND THAT THE PANEL INSTRUMENTS WERE MOVING UP AND DOWN (SPECIFICALLY MY TACHOMETER AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE). MY SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT REGISTERING ANY SPEED, EVEN THOUGH I WAS DOING ABOUT 35 MPH, AND THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ON AND BRIGHT RED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER NEXT DAY, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND IT WOULD COST ME $2492.00, PLUS LABOR TO REPLACE THE ABS ACTUATOR. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT REGULAR BRAKING WOULD WORK, BUT THE ABS WOULD NOT. I LIKE MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2008. MY PRIOR 1996 CAMRY IS STILL RUNNING WELL, AND I ALSO LIKED IT. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THE 2008 MODEL. MY DASHBOARD IS DISINTEGRATING, CRUMPLING, OR MELTING. I PROCEEDED TO WIPE THE DASH AND I SAW LITTLE CRUMPS. THE DASH IS VERY SOFT. I STUCK MY FINGERNAIL AND LEFT A NAIL PRINT. WHEN I PUT MY SUN GLARE BLOCKER OVER THE DASH, IT SCRAPES AND SCRATCHES IT. IT IS CRUMPLING AND IT HAS SCRATCH MARKS FROM PUTTING UP MY SUN GUARD. I KNOW IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT, SO I DECIDED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT. ALSO MY SUN VISOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT STAY UP. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SUN VISORS. I HAD THE DRIVER SIDE REPLACE A YEAR AGO. NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE DROOPS AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED. THE RIGHT FRONT SPRING FAILED. IT SNAPPED CLOSE TO ONE END, LEAVING A JAGGED POINT. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS COULD BE DISASTROUS IF THIS JAGGED POINT CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE TIRE, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
