4 NEW YOKOHAMA AVID ASCEND P215 60 R16 TIRES PURCHASED FROM TOYOTA DEALER/SERVICE CENTER ON 4/10-11/18, CAR MILEAGE 82455. ON 6/6/18 ONE TIRE REPLACED DUE TO LARGE BULGE IN SIDE WALL OF RIGHT FRONT TIRE (CAR MILEAGE 84540). REQUESTED THAT ALL OTHER TIRES BE INSPECTED FOR DEFECTS AT THE TIME THIS TIRE WAS REPLACED; WAS TOLD ALL OTHER TIRES WERE FINE; NO BULGES. ON 6/11/18 (5 DAYS LATER) NOTED A BULGE IN THE SIDE WALL OF THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WHICH IS 3 INCH BY 2 INCH. I'VE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL THEM I WANT A REFUND ON THESE TIRES AS I DON'T TRUST THE YOKOHAMA TIRES ANY MORE...WAITING FOR A RESPONSE IN BOTH CASES, FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE, AND THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I DO A LOT OF INTERSTATE TRAVEL. I'M ESPECIALLY CONCERNED BECAUSE THERE WAS A TIRE SALE AT THE DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME I PURCHASED THESE TIRES' SINCE TWO OF THE FOUR OF MY NEW TIRES (SO FAR) WERE DEFECTIVE, I WONDER HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE PURCHASED TIRES DURING THIS SALE. I'M NOT SURE HOW I CAN TAKE A PICTURE OF THE BUBBLE, BUT WOULD BE HAPPY TO DO SO, IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING ANY RECEIPT INFORMATION NEEDED TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE. PLEASE ADVISE.
THIS CAR TIRE WAS CHANGED WITH PRIMEWELL PS830/850 & IT HAS 40000 MILES OF WARRANTY. TIRE WAS REPLACED IN 2012. AT THE TIME CAR MILLAGE WAS 47282. NOW THE 2 TIRES ARE WORN OUT COMPLETELY & 1 TIRE IS SEPARATING OUT. I HAVE TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES TODAY. TODAY MILLAGE OF THE CAR IS 80270 WHICH IS LESS THAN 40000 MILES. THIS TIRES ARE NOT GOOD FOR DRIVE & IT WILL CREATE SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN I CALLED PRIMEWELL THEY TOLD ME THAT TIRE HAS ONLY 5 YEARS OF WARRANTY, IF THEY GIVE ONLY 40K OR 5 YEARS OF WARRANTY THEN WHY NOT THEY WRITE IT DOWN IN TIRES. TODAY I REPLACED TIRES FROM FIRESTONE MOORESVILLE, NC 28117. SO I REQUEST YOU TO DO MORE INVESTIGATION ABOUT IT & PLEASE TAKE APPROPRIATE AN ACTIONS. GOODYEAR 215 60R16 TIRES NEW AS OF AUG 2015. HIT A POTHOLE, TIRE BLEW, $4K DAMAGE.
I BOUGHT A USED 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT THE DEALER HAD INSTALLED NEW GENERAL ALTIMAX HP TIRES ON, SIZE P215/60R16. AFTER ABOUT 45 MILES OF DRIVING THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON AND I FOUND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE DOWN TO 18PSI. WHILE PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRE I NOTICED A LARGE BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL. I PUT THE SPARE ON AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TIRE AT NO COST TO ME, SAYING IT WAS DEFECTIVE. TODAY, I WENT TO HAVE MY TIRES ROTATED AND THE TECH TOLD ME HE COULD NOT TOUCH THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE AS IT HAD A HUGE BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL. THIS TIRE HAS A TOTAL OF ABOUT 14,000 MILES ON IT. THE BUBBLE IS ABOUT ONE THIRD OF THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE TIRE. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION ALSO FOUND A SMALLER SIDEWALL BUBBLE FORMING ON DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. THESE TIRES MUST ALL HAVE DEFECTS. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE ALL TIRES AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH TIRES THAT COULD BLOWOUT AT ANY MOMENT. *TR

ON MAY 11, 2014, RETURNING FROM DINNER WITH FAMILY, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE IMMEDIATELY WENT FLAT RESULTING IN CALLING AAA ROADSIDE SERVICE. I TOOK THE TIRE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A HUGE LUMP ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. IT WAS STATED THAT I MUST HAVE HIT A POTHOLE, WHICH I HAD NOT. DROVE HOME FROM WORK ABOUT 6:30PM (CENTRAL) LAST NIGHT (10.17.2012). PARKED IN ENCLOSED GARAGE. SAT IN THE KITCHEN WITH MY FAMILY. HEARD A POP SOUND MINUTES LATER AFTER PARKING. WENT OUTSIDE TO INVESTIGATE SOURCE OF SOUND. LOOKED AROUND CAR AND DISCOVERED FRONT PASSENGER TIRE FLAT.THE TIRE HAD BLOWN JUST SITTING IN THE GARAGE! TOOK TIRE OFF THIS MORNING AND DISCOVERED IT HAS A 1.25 INCH TEAR IN THE INSIDE ABOUT HALF WAY BETWEEN RIM AND THE TREAD. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE PUNCTURES OR INTRUSIONS OF FOREIGN OBJECTS. TO ME THIS INCIDENT IS STRANGE IN AND OF ITSELF. BUT I AM FILING THIS REPORT BECAUSE THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH THAT A GENERAL ALTIMAX RT TIRE HAS FAILED IN AN UNEXPECTED MANNER ON MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. THE OTHER INCIDENT HAPPENED ON 09.16.2012. IT WAS RAINING AND I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT NO MORE THAN 20-25MPH. THE 40,000 MILE BRIDGESTONE TURANZA TIRES, SIZE 215/60/16 THAT CAME WITH THIS CAR, HAVE WORN DOWN TO 5/32 WITHIN 18 MONTHS. THAT IS 1/2 OF THE TREAD GONE. MINIMAL CITY DRIVING WITH VERY LITTLE FREEWAY DRIVING. ALWAYS PROPERLY INFLATED AND ROTATED EVERY 5,000 MILES .I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES. I DID NOT REPLACE THEM THROUGH THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I PURCHASED QUALITY TIRES ELSEWHERE. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT A CONSUMER SPENDS OVER $20,000 FOR A VEHICLE AND MUST REPLACE THE TIRES WITH SO FEW MILES. AFTER READING ALL OF THE NEGATIVE REPORTS ABOUT THESE TIRES FROM CONSUMERS, I DID NOT COMPLAIN TO TOYOTA OR BRIDGESTONE, BECAUSE IT IS APPARENTLY A LOST CAUSE. EARLY APRIL, I ATTEMPTED TO ROTATE TIRES ON A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. AFTER JACKING UP THE VEHICLE AND REMOVING THE LUG NUTS, I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE TIRE, DESPITE USING A TECHNIQUE OF PLACING A 2X6 ACROSS THE TIRE AND HITTING IT WITH A 3 POUND HAMMER. I SPLIT THE 2X6 WITHOUT ANY AFFECT UPON THE TIRE. I PHONED TOYOTA HQ IN NY AND SUBSEQUENTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SCHAUMBURG IL TOYOTA WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY USED A SLEDGE HAMMER TO LOOSEN THE TIRES. WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND AFTER I JACKED UP THE VEHICLE AT ALL 4 POINTS, I STILL HAD TO LAY DOWN AND USE A 3 POUND HAMMER AND HIT THE INSIDE OF THE STEEL WHEEL MULTIPLE TIMES FOR EACH WHEEL IN ORDER TO REMOVE EACH WHEEL. WITHOUT A VERY HEAVY HAMMER AND THE ACT OF HITTING THE STEEL WHEEL WITH TREMENDOUS FORCE, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE A WHEEL. SINCE I PREVIOUSLY LIFTED WEIGHTS BENCHING 390 POUNDS, I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF AVERAGE IN TERMS OF THE ABILITY TO CHANGE A TIRE. WITHOUT A VERY HEAVY HAMMER AND THE STRENGTH TO DELIVER TREMENDOUS FORCE TO THE WHEELS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY TIRE. SINCE IT IS MANDATORY FOR MANUFACTURES TO PROVIDE THE MEANS TO CHANGE TIRES IN AN EMERGENCY, TOYOTA HAS MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR VIRTUALLY THE ENTIRE USER COMMUNITY TO CHANGE A TIRES. THIS CONSTITUTES AN EXTREME RISK TO OWNERS AND PASSENGERS WHERE A TIRE FAILURE OCCURS AND THERE IS NO HEAVY HAMMER AND THE INDIVIDUALS DO NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO FREE THE ON-VEHICLE WHEEL. I WROTE 3 LETTERS TO TOYOTA HQ JAPAN AND RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM TOYOTA NY WHERE THEY INDICATED THAT IT IS NECESSARY TO ROTATE TIRES EVERY 5,000 MILES. DUE THE EXTREMELY CLOSE FIT OF THE WHEEL TO THE AXLE ASSEMBLY AND THE PROPENSITY OF THE AXLE ASSEMBLY METALLIC COMPOSITION TO OXIDIZE AND THE ACT OF TIGHTENING THE LUG NUTS WHICH PRESSES THE METAL WHEEL ON TO THE AXLE ASSEMBLY, THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO TIME PERIOD IN WHICH USERS ARE ABLE TO REMOVE A WHEEL WITHIN NORMAL CONSTRAINTS. THE CONSUMER WENT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE TIRE HAD A SLOW LEAK. THE DEALER FOUND A NAIL NEAR THE SIDEWALL OF THE TREAD. THE CONSUMER PURCHASED TWO FRONT TIRES. AFTER HE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP, HE NOTICED THE PULL TO THE LEFT WAS GONE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE OF POOR QUALITY AND WOULD NOT LAST MUCH PAST 25,000 TO 30,0000 MILES. *JB
