I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING AND IN MOTION, I'LL PUSH IN THE CLUTCH TO BRAKE OR COAST, THE RPMS GO DOWN UNTIL THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF, AND THE STEERING WHEEL GOES HARD. THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS STILL WORK, IN FACT ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS, LIKE THE CHECK ENGINE AND MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHTS, ACTUALLY COME ON (JUST LIKE WHEN YOU'RE KEY IGNITION IS IN THE "ON" POSITION BUT YOU HAVEN'T STARTED THE ENGINE YET). THE CAR STARTS RIGHT BACK UP WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION OR POP THE CLUTCH WHILE IN GEAR. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ABOUT ONCE EVERY WEEK EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR OVER 4 YEARS AGO. WITHIN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN TRYING TO START MY CAR MY CAR (STATIONARY), THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER BUT WON'T START ON FIRST TRY. ON SECOND TRY I WILL TURN THE IGNITION AND PUMP THE GAS PEDAL AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT WILL START UP AND RUN PERFECTLY FINE. I'VE READ ABOUT THE RECALL OF THE ECM FOR MY MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR, BUT WHEN I SEARCH MY VIN IT COMES BACK WITH NO CURRENT RECALLS. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE (PURCHASED FROM PRIVATE PARTY IN AUGUST OF 2015), I LEARNED OF THE AIRBAG RECALL AND TOOK IN AND GOT IT FIXED, BUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, ABOUT 2.5 YEARS AFTER TAKING IT IN FOR THE RECALL, MY SRS LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATED AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, BUT I AM A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY ESPECIALLY NOW THAT THE SRS LIGHT HAS COME ON. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN SURPRISED BY THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN, WHICH VERY EASILY COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, AND NOW IF I DO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILS, THEN I COULD BE INJURED EVEN MORE SEVERELY OR DIE. I'M A COLLEGE STUDENT ON A VERY TIGHT BUDGET, OTHERWISE I WOULD'VE JUST SEEN A MECHANIC BY NOW. I THOUGHT I'D TRY FILING A COMPLAINT FIRST.

TOYOTA IS DELAYED IN PROVIDING REMEDY FOR THE "FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE RECALL" ON MY CAR. TOYOTA RECOMMENDS NOT USING THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THEN. THIS IS NOT FEASIBLE SINCE OUR FAMILY HAS ONLY ONE CAR, WE CARRY DOGS/KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT, AND MY HUSBAND AND I MUST BE SITTING IN THE FRONT. TOYOTA DEALER SUNNYVALE (CA) IS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A LOANER FREE OF CHARGE UNTIL REMEDY IS AVAILABLE.

DANGEROUS RECALL TO PASSENGER AND DRIVER BUT NO TIME FRAME TO FIX OR CORRECT THE ISSUE.
"TAKATA RECALL" I RECEIVED A NOTICE STATING THAT "TOYOTA HAS COMPLETED PARTS PREPARATION FOR VEHICLES IN YOUR GEOGRAPHIC AREA" YET WHEN I CALL OUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER, THEY TELL ME THAT TOYOTA IS ONLY ALLOWING THEM TO ORDER 1 PART PER WEEK!! THEY HAVE PUT MY NAME ON THE LIST, BUT SAID THEY WILL SEE ME IN ABOUT A YEAR. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THIS IS MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER'S VEHICLE AND THIS ISSUE NEEDS FIXED NOW, NOT A YEAR FROM NOW. SHE HAS ALREADY BEEN DRIVING IT TOO LONG WITH THIS UNSAFE DEFECT. WHAT IS TOYOTA GOING TO DO IF SOMETHING HAPPENS BETWEEN NOW AND WHEN THEY DECIDE TO LET DEALERS ORDER MORE THAN 1 PART PER WEEK?? I WOULD LIKE AN EXPLANATION AND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM FOR A QUICKER REPAIR!

TOYOTA WILL NOT LET DEALERSHIPS DISABLE THESE DEFECTIVE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS. HONDA RECENTLY WENT THROUGH THE SAME THING AND THEY DID DISABLE THE AIRBAGS UNTIL THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE TO FIX THEM. I GOT A COMPLETE RUN AROUND FROM TOYOTA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN I CALLED THEM AND WAS TOLD "IT HAD TO GO THROUGH THE STATE." RIDICULOUS. IF IT HAS TO BE COORDINATED THROUGH THE STATE THEN TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. WHY SHOULD I BE DRIVING AROUND IN A CAR THAT CAN HAVE SHRAPNEL FLYING AROUND IN IT? "DON'T LET ANYBODY SIT RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT" IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION. NOT TO MENTION THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG IT WILL BE TIL THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE - AND THIS RECALL WENT OUT IN JUNE BUT I AM ONLY JUST NOW BEING NOTIFIED. SO 2 MOS. PASSENGERS HAVE BEEN SITTING ON THE DEADLY SIDE. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS AS A BUSINESS PRACTICE - TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE TO PUT PEOPLE AT RISK THIS WAY. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE SOMETIME IN AUGUST 2015 DUE TO AIRBAG DEFECT; 2ND NOTICE IN SEPT. 2015. I CALLED MY TOTOTA DEALER AND PHONE # ON NOTICE. I WAS TOLD NO ONE SHOULD SIT IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL REPLACED. PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE. ITS NOW BEEN WELL OVER 2 MONTHS AND STILL UNABLE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD I COULD RENT A CAR , $25 PER DAY, BUT WOULD HAVE TO KEEP RENTAL UNTIL CAR REPAIR WAS COMPLETED, AND NO TIME FRAME ON WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. IF I DID RENT A CAR, IT WOULD HAVE ALREADY COST ME OVER $700.00. WHAT GOOD IS HAVING A CAR THAT YOU CANNOT USE WHEN YOU WANT TO. I ALREADY CANCELED SMALL VACATION IN SEPTEMBER. WHEN I CONTACTED TOYOTA, ALL THEY COULD SAY WAS THERE IS STILL NO TIME FRAME ON WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE.

TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. WE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER IN AUGUST. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE OUR CAR WITH ANYONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THAT PUTS A STRAIN ON OUR FAMILY...WE CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR WITH 5 PEOPLE AND WE THINK TOYOTA SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO ALLOW US TO USE OUR CAR IN A NORMAL WAY. THEY HAVE PROPOSED A LOANER CAR, BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE INSURANCE, AS OUR PERSONAL CAR INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER A LONG TERM RENTAL THAT IS DUE TO A RECALL. AS THERE IS NO END IN SIGHT, THAT COULD BECOME IMPOSSIBLY EXPENSIVE. IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM FAIR TO PUT OUR FAMILY OUT LIKE THIS, WITH NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL END.

RECIEVED RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA FOR AIR BAG REPLACEMENT ON 8/15/2015. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPLACE AIR BAG AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL GET THEM. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO USE MY PASSENGER SEAT AND I CAN'T. I CAN'T EVEN SELL THE CAR WITH THIS DEFECT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE REVVED VIOLENTLY AND SUDDENLY RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NO CABLE TO ADJUST THE IDLING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD FUEL INJECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. FIRST THE SEATBELT BUCKLE BROKE OFF ON THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE. NOW THE BACK SEATBELT BUCKLE HAS BROKEN OFF ON THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE. LOOKS LIKE RUST HAS A FACTOR IN THE ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY BACK TIRE'S SIDEWALL BLEW OUT AND I WAS FORCED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE TIRE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH PLENTY OF TREAD DEPTH LEFT. VEHICLE IS PARKED ON PAVEMENT AND NOT GRASS TO PROMOTE MOISTURE/DRY ROT. AFTER READING ON LINE, MICHELIN HAS RECALLED 100,000 TIRES LAST MONTH. A COWORKER STATED THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEIR MICHELIN TIRE LAST WEEK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE SMALLER MICHELIN TIRES. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE TIRE AND SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON. LUCKILY IT WAS A BACK TIRE AND I REMAINED IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

TOYOTA IS ACTING IN AN UNETHICAL AND DANGEROUS MANNER BY TAKING SO LONG TO REMEDY THIS POTENTIALLY FATAL DEFECT. AS A COUPLE THAT ALMOST ALWAYS TRAVELS TOGETHER IN THE COROLLA, WE HAVE BEEN DENIED THE USE OF OUR VEHICLE BY TOYOTA. THIS IS A LOSS AND WE ARE BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY TOYOTA. BECAUSE, WE MIGHT AS WELL NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE, BUT CAN'T IN GOOD CONSCIENCE UNLOAD IT ON SOMEONE ELSE. THE INTERIM RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA CALLS IT AN 'INCONVENIENCE' AND WARNS US NOT TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH A PASSENGER. WE HAVE BEEN PATIENT, BUT OUR PATIENCE IS AT AN END. NOW, WE ARE ANGRY AND IT IS ONLY REASONABLE THAT IF OUR TOYOTA IS NOT REPAIRED IN THE NEXT 60 DAYS, WE WILL AVAIL OURSELVES OF EVERY LEGAL AND ETHICAL MEANS TO BE COMPENSATED FOR OUR LOSS AND THE UNTENABLE AND DANGEROUS SITUATION TOYOTA HAS PUT (AND KEPT) US IN.

A MONTH AGO I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, ALERTING ME THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO TRANSPORT PASSENGERS IN THE CAR AT THIS TIME. THIS IS EXCEPTIONALLY INCONVENIENT, AS I HAVE A CHRONICALLY ILL PARTNER WHO NEEDS TO BE DRIVEN TO DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS, ETC. I AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT WHAT I BELIEVE IS AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE COMPANY TO SUPPLY THE PART.
