WHILE ENTERING A CURVE MY CAR SLOWED DOWN THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ACCELERATED TO AN UNCONTROLLABLE SPEED, I TRIED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF MY CAR BY TAPPING ON THE BRAKES WHICH DID NOT HELP MY SITUATION AS A MATTER OF FACT IT MADE THINGS WORSE, TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC I HIT A POLE AGAIN AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHICH MADE MY CAR SPIN, I AM A PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL BUS DRIVER & HAVE TAKEN THIS AND MANY OTHER CURVES FOR YEARS, I COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS CAR DID WHAT IT DID, AS A RESULT OF THIS CRASH I RECEIVED A RECKLESS DRIVER TICKET AND 2 POINTS ON MY LICENSE BECAUSE IT WAS A ONE CAR ACCIDENT, THE ONLY EXPLANATION THAT THE AUTHORITIES COULD GIVE ME WAS HYDROPLANE, THATS NOT WHAT HAPPENED IT WAS AS IF THIS CAR MY CAR OF 7 YEARS HAD A MIND OF ITS ON AND STARTED RACING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER AND CRASHED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. EXPERIENCING AIR BAG LIGHT ON. WAS TOLD AT DEALER I NEEDED THE AIR BAG SPIRAL CABLE REPLACED INSIDE STEERING COLUMN. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL THE THE SPIRAL CABLE ON CERTAIN TOYOTA MODELS. I QUESTION IF THE 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AS WELL. *JS

2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HIS SON WAS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. HE STATED ONE OF THE PHOTO'S FROM THE SCENE, SHOWED THE SHIFTER WAS IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, IF THE SAME DEFECT PART WAS USED IN THE COROLLA MODELS, THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. *JB
ON APRIL 28 2014 I RESERVED A RENTAL CAR FROM PRICELESS RENTAL CAR IN INGLEWOOD CA. UPON RECEIVING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO INSPECTION OR ANY KIND OF WALK-AROUND TO ENSURE ITS CONDITION. I DROVE IT FROM LAX TO SAN FRANCISCO, AND DURING THE ENTIRE JOURNEY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND MY GAS MILEAGE EFFICIENCY WAS DROPPING RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE ALSO SHOOK AT SPEEDS AROUND 60-70MPH AND WOULD JERK AND JOLT WHENEVER I APPLIED THE GAS PEDAL TO INCREASE RPM. I AM SURE THAT THERE IS NO VEHICLE INSPECTION OR MAINTENANCE OCCURRING ON A WEEKLY, MONTHLY, OR EVEN A DAILY BASIS. *TR

AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. UNSURE OF EXACT DATE. *TR
AS I APPROACHED TRAFFIC LIGHTS, I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES AS YELLOW LIGHT WAS ON BUT THE CAR WAS STILL ACCELERATING. EVEN AFTER THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY APPLIED, IT WENT FORWARD. TO MY BAD, IT WAS A SNOWY DAY IN MY PLACE AND MY CAR SKIDDED IN TO THE LEFT TURN LANE, GOT CRASHED IN TO THE OTHER CAR. MY CAR'S FRONT BUMPER, HEAD LIGHTS AND COUPLE OF OTHER PARTS WERE REPLACED FOR WHICH I HAVE SPENT $500 OUT OF MY POCKET AND THE REMAINING AMOUNT WAS PAID BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO ME, MY 7 MONTH PREGNANT WIFE AND THE OTHER CAR DRIVER. OBVIOUSLY MY INSURANCE PREMIUM GOT INCREASED, MY DRIVING HISTORY WAS AFFECTED AND CAR VALUE IS DECREASED DUE TO ACCIDENT HISTORY. MY CAR TIRES AND BRAKES WERE IN PERFECT CONDITION WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED. NOW I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR ESPECIALLY WHEN IT APPROACHES TRAFFIC LIGHTS I FEEL EXTREMELY NERVOUS. WHENEVER I RECOLLECT THIS BAD MOMENT I FEEL DEPRESSED. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE ISSUE. REQUESTING TOYOTA TO DO THE NEEDFUL TO REMOVE SUCH DEFECTS FROM THEIR VEHICLES. *TR

ON NOVEMBER 26, 2013 AT ABOUT 5 PM I DROVE OUT OF A PARKING LOT IN THE LEFT LANE TAKING A LEFT TURN AND CONTINUED DRIVING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC IN THE LEFT LANE, WHICH WAS ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR; IT WAS DARK AND STARTING TO DRIZZLE;I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT;I WAS SUDDENLY HIT FROM BEHIND BY A CAR AND WE CRASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME;IMMEDIATELY UPON REAR IMPACT I WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AT AN ANGLE HITTING MY STERNUM ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL;MY INJURIES WERE A SEVERELY BRUISED STERNUM, AND CONTINUING NECK AND BACK INJURIES; MY CAR WAS TOTALED;I CONTACTED TOYOTA ON NOVEMBER 30, 2013 TO COMPLAIN AS MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK;ON JANUARY 16, 2014 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA STATING THAT THEY INSPECTED THE CAR ON DECEMBER 23, 2013; I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A COPY OF THE INSPECTION, WHICH I DID NOT;THE RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA WAS THAT FOR THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR OF THE OTHER VEHICLE OVERRODE THE FRONT BUMPER OF MY VEHICLE;FOR THE SEATBELT FAILING TO LOCK IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WERE NO ABNORMALITIES OBSERVED WITH THE SEATBELT AND LATCHED;I AM REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION OF MY COMPLAINT;ALTHOUGH TOYOTA IS STATING THAT THE SEATBELT LATCHED AND RELEASED AS DESIGNED MY CONCERN IS NOT THAT THE SEATBELT LATCHED AND RELEASED BUT THAT THE SEATBELT FAILED TO LOCK AND I KNOW THAT THE SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK BECAUSE IF IT HAD WORKED PROPERLY I WOULD NOT HAVE SLAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY;TOYOTA STATED THAT THE INSPECTION DETERMINED THAT THE INCIDENT WAS NOT A RESULT OF A MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT;MY COMPLAINT IS NOT THAT THE INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECT WITH THE CAR AS THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE OTHER DRIVER BUT THAT IF THE AIR BAG AND SEATBELT FUNCTIONED AS EXPECTED, MY INJURIES MAY HAVE BEEN AVOIDED OR NOT AS SEVERE. *JS
ON WED OCT 23 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE. THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT, NO RAIN, CLEAR BLUE SKIES AND ABOUT 70 DEGREES. IT WAS APPRX 12:00 PM (MID-DAY). OUT OF NOWHERE I HEARD A LOUD BAND ON TOP OF MY ROOF AND GLASS STARTED FLYING OFF THE BACK OF MY CAR. I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SUNROOF AND THE REST OF THE GLASS AROUND IT IS SHATTERED. IT WAS SUCH A BIZARRE EXPERIENCE I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WOULD HAVE CAUSE THIS. IT WAS LIKE THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. THEN ON OCTOBER 25 I SAW AN ARTICLE THAT A LOT OF KIA'S SUNROOFS HAD BEEN EXPLODING! THAT IS NO COINCIDENCE. I KNOW MY CAR IS A TOYOTA, NOT A KIA, BUT THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OUT OF NOWHERE AND THE ARTICLE SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. FORTUNATELY I HAD THE FLAP CLOSED SO THERE WAS NO INJURY TO ME. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT AND I WOULDN'T WANT TO PAY $800 FOR A DEFECTIVE WINDOW! I HAVE PICTURES OF MY WINDOW FROM THE DAY IT HAPPENED. I ALSO HAVE A CLAIM FROM MY INSURANCE CO. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE (ECM) ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
CAR WAS RUNNING THEN DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN TRAFFIC AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FUSE WAS BLOWN AND THIS CAUSED THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT AND THE EMC TO OVERHEAT AND BURN OUT REQUIRING REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF OVER $2,000.00.

A FIRE STARTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND CAME UP THROUGH THE BACK SEAT. ENTIRE CAR ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN SECONDS EXCEPT FOR FRONT HOOD AREA AND ENGINE. FAULTY FUEL LINE? *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. RE: TOYOTA 2007 COROLLA: WHEN DRIVING (IN REVERSE) OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY JERK, EMIT A LOT OF FUMES, AND IT WOULD TAKE OFF ON ITS OWN. PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR- ONLY TURNING OFF THE IGNITION KEY STOPS THE CAR. LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS ON NOVEMBER 4, 2014. AFTER DRIVING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND CHANGING GEARS FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, THE CAR AGAIN JERKED, MADE A LEFT TURN, DROVE ACROSS OUR LAWN, THROUGH THE BUSHES AND TO OUR NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR?S LAWN. WE ARE LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT SLAM INTO OUR HOUSE OR THE ELECTRIC POLE CLOSE TO OUR DRIVEWAY- EITHER ONE WOULD PROBABLY HAVE KILLED US. THE CAR HAS ITS OWN MIND AND DOES NOT RESPOND TO ANYTHING THAT THE DRIVER TRIES TO DO TO STOP THE CAR FROM MOVING OTHER THAN TURNING OFF THE IGNITION KEY. THE TOYOTA DEALER, OF COURSE, ASSERTS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE REMEDY FAILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,438 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,600.
DEAR OFFICER, I BOUGHT THIS CAR (TOYOTA COROLLA 2007) IN DEC 2012 FROM A PRIVATE PARTY. THE CAR WAS TOTALLY RUNNING FINE. I HAVE BEEN CHANGING THE OIL EVERY 3 MONTHS. LAST MONTH, I STARTED NOTICING WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE REAR EXHAUST PIPE AND THE TOYOTA DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE O2 SENSOR AND CHANGED IT (CHARGED $400). I STARTED NOTICING WHITE SMOKE AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY SAID THERE IS A OIL LEAKAGE AND FIXED IT (CHARGED $450). THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE WHOLE BOTTOM PART OF THE ENGINE IS FULL OF OIL SLUDGE AND THAT WOULD TAKE $4000 TO FIX. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR ONLY 8500$ KINDLY INVESTIGATE AND LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN TOYOTA COROLLA. I AM SURE THERE ARE LOT OF CONSUMERS LIKE ME MIGHT BE RUNNING INTO THIS PROBLEM. A MAN PULLED IN FRONT OF ME TURNING LEFT. I WAS GOING STRAIGHT. I T-BONED HIM AND THE FRONT OF MY CAR WAS DAMAGED. I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL BEFORE THE AIRBAG WENT OFF. WHY? IT WAS A FRONT END COLLISION AND THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY RUINED. GAS SPILLING AND IMMOBILITY OF THE CAR. IT SEEMS THAT KIND OF IMPACT SHOULD'VE DEPLOYED THE AIRBAG UPON CONTACT. I WAS GOING 30MPH AND HE WAS SUPPOSEDLY GOING 30MPH OR MORE (SINCE HE WAS COMING DOWN HILL)...WHICH EQUALS A 60MPH IMPACT AT LEAST. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT TO REPORT A BRAKE FAILURE ON MY TOYOTA COROLLA 2007 WITH 42,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ON JUNE 25, 2013, I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL. TO SLOW DOWN, HE HAD TO PUSH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL GRADUALLY FURTHER AND FURTHER UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY REACHED THE FLOOR, MAKING THEN THE HISSING SOUND OF AIR FORCED THROUGH A SMALL OPENING. WE WENT INTO A PARKING LOT AND, BY THE TIME WE FOUND A SPACE, THE BRAKES WERE GONE. WE USED THE HAND-BRAKE TO STOP. TWO HOURS LATER, WHEN THE TOW TRUCK CAME, I DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONAL AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY, THE DEALER, TOYOTA NORTH OF MOUNT KISCO, NY, WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE AND WAS AT A LOSS TO ADVISE ME. THE BRAKES BEING SO CRITICAL TO SAFE DRIVING AND INTERMITTENT FAILURE BEING UNACCEPTABLE, I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE MASTER CYLINDER AT OWN MY EXPENSE. REGRETTABLY, WHEN I WENT TO GET THE CAR ON JUNE 28, 1013, I WAS TOLD THAT NEITHER THE DEALER NOR TOYOTA WOULD TAKE THE MASTER CYLINDER APART TO UNDERSTAND WHY IT FAILED. AN OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE FUTURE SAFETY WAS LOST. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH INTO A PARKING SPACE, SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A WALL AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND SHE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER SHOULDER AND RIBS. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER PRIOR TO THE CRASH AND THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A REPAIR SHOP FOR THE BODY REPAIRS, BUT THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH AND RECEIVED FURTHER MEDICAL TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT A THIRD CRASH HAPPENED WHEN A DRIVER WAS BRINGING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE, LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE AS WELL AS A TELEPHONE POLE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES AND THE DRIVERS HEAD WENT THRU THE WINDSHIELD. THE DRIVER DID NOT RECEIVE FURTHER MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT WAS TO RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE IN MID APRIL 2015 AND RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION ON AUGUST 10TH, 2015. THE CONTACT WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V285000 (AIR BAGS) BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE REPAIR DUE TO EXPERIENCING MORE THAN TWO CRASHES IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

HAD THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED ON CAR MARCH 1, 2013. A MONTH AND A HALF LATER I HEARD GRINDING NOISE FROM LEFT WHEEL. TOOK CAR IN ON 4/11/13 AND WAS TOLD BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE FINE, BUT THAT THE HUB AND BEARING WERE FAILING ON THE LEFT. WAS ALSO TOLD THIS WAS RARE THAT THEY DON'T USUALLY SEE A HUB AND BEARING FAILING AT THIS MILEAGE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND IF YOU DO NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT YOUR WHEEL COULD FALL OFF. I WAS ADVISED BY SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROBLEM TO GO AHEAD AND FIX IT WHICH I DID ON 4/16/13. WAS ALSO ADVISED BY THIS SAME PERSON THAT THE FAILURE WAS PROBABLY THE RESULT OF A FACTORY DEFECT, BUT AT THIS POINT THERE IS NO WAY TO PROVE IT AND THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY FOR THIS REPAIR IS ONLY A YEAR AND THE FAILURE RATE AFTER FIXING THIS TYPE OF ISSUE IS HIGH. I NO LONGER TRUST MY CAR!!!!! *TR
ON MARCH 12, 2015, AT APPROXIMATELY 11:00 A.M, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT STATING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY A SOLID WASTE VEHICLE. I CALLED THE CITY OF SACRAMENTO AND EVEN EMAILED THE CITY OF SACRAMENTO AND I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. I PICKED UP A COPY OF THE POLICE REPORT ON 04/01/2015. THE NAME OF THE DRIVER THAT STRUCK MY VEHICLE IS [XXX]. THE TRUCK THAT STRUCK MY VEHICLE IS A 2012 NEWWAY RECYCLE TRUCK (BLUE). ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, [XXX] WAS DISTRACTED BY A MAN WHO WALKED UP TO HIM AND "STARTED TALKING TO HIM ABOUT A TV". I CONTACTED [XXX] (INTEGRATED WASTE SUPERVISOR) AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COVER ALL EXPENSES OUT OF POCKET INCLUDING DEDUCTIBLE, AND RENTAL CAR FOR THE ENTIRE TIME IT TAKES TO FIX MY CAR. I EXPLAINED TO ENRIQUE THAT I DID NOT BELIEVE IT WAS FAIR THAT HIS DRIVER STRUCK MY VEHICLE AND I NEED TO PAY FOR IT. ENRIQUE SAID HE WAS SORRY BUT THAT WAS THE WAY THE CITY WORKS. DRIVING AROUND 7:30 PM SUDDENLY TRAFFIC COMES TO A HALT, I BRAKE AND THE CAR DOES NOT SLOW DOWN AT ALL, I WAS GOING BETWEEN 35 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR. I HAD A PREVIOUS INCIDENT IN JULY, 2010 WHEN THE GAS PEDAL FELT LIKE IT STUCK AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO SANDY SPRINGS TOYOTA AT THAT TIME AND MADE A COMPLAINT. ON JANUARY 12, 2013, AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE GAS PEDAL FELT LIKE IT STUCK AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CRASHING INTO MY GARAGE AND HOUSE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
WE WHERE DRIVING BACK FROM A FAMILY FUNCTION AND WHEN WE GOT HOME, THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT RETRACT BACK IN. WE HAD BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SEATBELTS LOCKING FOR AWHILE BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THE BELT DID NOT RETRACT. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $800.00 SO I DID NOT GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD IT. THE SECOND SEATBELT WENT OUT WHILE WE WERE DRIVING AT ABOUT 65MPH AND WERE AT ABOUT 100,000 MILES. THE SEATBELT LOCKED SO WE REMOVED IT TO RESET IT AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THEN IT STOPPED WORKING. THE THIRD REAR BELT WAS A HARD TIME RETRACTING AS WELL. THE DEALER TESTED IT AND IT ALSO FAILED THEIR TESTS. THE DEALER NOW SAYS THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS NOT MECHANICAL FAILURE AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MILEAGE. THIS HAS BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PUT A DIME INTO THIS REPAIR.

ON A RAINY OCTOBER 28, 2012 SUNDAY, I WAS TRAVELING ON RTE. 73, IN MOORSETOWN, NJ AND I ATTEMPTED TO GET OFF 73 AND GO DOWN THE RTE. 295 N RAMP. AS I WENT DOWN THE RAMP, I PUT ON MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS FLYING. THEN ONCE I THANKED GOD FOR NOT LETTING THERE BE ANY CARS AROUND ME AND LETTING ME BE ALRIGHT, THEN I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE CAR. I BACKED THE CAR UP A LITTLE BIT THEN PRESSED DOWN ON BRAKE TO CHANGE GEAR INTO DRIVE AND TURNED STEERING WHEEL AWAY FROM CURB, AND MY CAR FLEW TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RAMP AND CRASHED INTO THE CURB ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF WHICH DAMAGED THE FRONT RIM ON THAT SIDE AND THROUGH ALL OF THIS THE AIR BAG NEVER EJECTED. I COULD KIND OF UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS WET AND THE CAR HYDROPLANED BEFORE FIRST CRASH. BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW BEFORE THE CAR TOOK OFF THE SECOND TIME WHILE I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND BARELY MOVING, BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. AT THIS POINT I WAS SCARED TO MOVE THE CAR AGAIN, SO I JUST CUT THE CAR OFF AND SAT THERE FOR A WHILE, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON, THEN IT FELT LIKE BRAKES WERE ALRIGHT WHEN I PRESSED DOWN ON IT. I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES AND OF COURSE THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. AT THIS POINT AND TIME, I DO NOT TRUST THIS CAR, BUT I DO TRUST GOD TO KEEP ME SAFE IN THIS CAR OR ELSE I WOULDN'T EVEN DRIVE IT AFTER THAT EPISODE. I NEEDED TO GET 3 NEW RIMS, 1 TIRE, A HUB CAP AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT FOR MY CAR AND I JUST THANK GOD THAT THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGES. I DRIVE A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA AND PURCHASED MY TIRES FROM AMERICA'S TIRE (DISCOUNT TIRE) IN 2009. STRANGELY, THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT DOT NUMBERS FOR THESE FOUR TIRES (TWO OF THE FOUR HAVE THE SAME NUMBER). THE NUMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS: CC9N 81P4509, 81P3109, AND 81P2809. THESE YOKOHAMA AVID TOURING TIRES ARE DEVELOPING DISCOLORATION AND CONCENTRIC CRACKING AROUND THE OUTER AND INNER SIDE WALLS. THE CRACKING APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO DRY ROT. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE OCCURRED AT 45,000 MILES OF WEAR. THESE TIRES ARE RATED TO LAST 65,000 MILES. THIS PREMATURE FAILURE IS BOTH DISAPPOINTING AND DANGEROUS. THE CRACKS ARE DEEP AND I FEAR TREAD SEPARATION OR BLOWOUT. I WILL BE GETTING THESE TIRES REPLACED TO AVOID ANY POSSIBLE INJURIES OR ACCIDENTS. I HAVE ROTATED MY TIRES FREQUENTLY AND THE TREAD HAS OTHERWISE WORN EVENLY WITH ONLY MINIMAL TREAD WEAR. THIS FAILURE IS NOT A RESULT OF ANY MISTREATMENT, NEGLECT OR BAD DRIVING HABITS. *TR
WHEN EVER I TURN OFF THE CAR THEN START IT AGAIN AND MOVE EITHER FORWARD OR BACKWARD THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND IN MY FORWARD BREAK AREA. I TOOK IT IN TO TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T RECREATE THE SOUND. I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED A PART TWICE. IT STOPS GRINDING FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT THEN IT COMES BACK. IT NOW HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY TIME I GO FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. ALSO, IF I GO OVER A BUMPY STRETCH OF ROAD OR SUDDENLY STEP ON MY BRAKES THE BRAKES GRIND AND I AM UNABLE TO STOP FOR A FEW SECONDS. IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ABS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS DAILY.
