THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STRAPS THAT HOLDS THE FUEL TANK BROKE. AS A RESULT, THE BROKEN STRAP THEN BOUNCED UP AND DOWN ON THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL SPILLAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN THE ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL AND CRASHED INTO FIVE UNOCCUPIED PARKED VEHICLES. THE TWO FRONT TIRES DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE BACK. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SAVAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. ON 9/12/2012 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE REP SAID THAT THEY RESET THE SENSOR AND EVERYTHING SHOULD BE OK. ON JAN 15,13 I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR THE 60,000 MILES MAINTENANCE. ONLY THING THAT WAS SAID TO BE FOUND WAS THE FAN BELT WAS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. ON JAN 24 WHILE DRIVING TO THE USAF BASE, THE CAR STARTED MAKING NOISE AND JERKING. WHEN I STOPPED AT THE GATE TO SHOW MY I.D. THE GUARD TOLD ME THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE MY ENGINE WAS DYING, AND GO TO THE MECHANIC ASAP. I TURNED AROUND AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND IT TOOK ME 45 MIN TO GET TO TOYOTA BC THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH (THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 10 MIN DRIVE). THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT THE AIR FLOW METER SENSOR WAS DIRTY AND FROZEN AND THEY CLEANED AND RESET IT. ON FRIDAY FEB 1ST THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO TOYOTA BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT DRIVE OUT THE DRIVE WAY. TOYOTA REP RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID THE COMPUTER ENGINE WAS FAULTY AND A NEW ECM WOULD NEED TO BE PUT IN. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 66,000 MILES! THE REP TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE RECALLS ON THE 2005-2008 MODEL TOYOTA COROLLAS AND THAT I NEED TO GET A RECALL LETTER FROM TOYOTA USA SO THEY CAN FIX THE CAR (I NEVER GOT THE LETTER THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY SENT OUT SEPT 2010). I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS ON FEB 4 AND WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT GET A LETTER FAXED OR EMAILED HERE TO GERMANY TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED. A RUDE REPRESENTATIVE NAME [XXX] SAID THAT IT WOULD TAKE AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME TO GET A RECALL LETTER SENT THROUGH THE MAIL. I DON'T HAVE AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME. I AM DUE TO LEAVE GERMANY IN A WEEK ON MILITARY ORDERS! IN THE DAYS OF TECHNOLOGY, WE CAN PUT A MAN ON THE MOON BUT TOYOTA USA CAN'T SEND AN ELECTRONIC RECALL LETTER TO TOYOTA GERMANY TO HAVE ONE OF THEIR FAULTY VEHICLES REPAIRED? SHAME ON TOYOTA! I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO FILL MY GAS TANK AND WHILE THIS WAS BEING DONE I HEARD A LOUD BANG SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR THERE WAS A LOUD RATTLING SOUND. I STOPPED THE CAR AND GOT OUT TO LOOK UNDERNEATH BUT COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING HANGING. SINCE I WAS NEAR HOME I STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE SLOWLY HOME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY REPAIRED THE GAS TANK STRAP PASSENGER SIDE. I TOLD THEM I CONSIDERED THIS TO BE A DESIGN DEFECTION AND A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY STATED THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY HAD SEEN QUITE A FEW OF THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. TOYOTA CORP HAS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD MANY CARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS A DRIVERS SIDE STRAP AS WELL SO I SUPPOSE I CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THIS HAPPENING AGAIN PLUS SINCE IT IS DUE TO CORROSION I CAN EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN IN ABOUT FIVE YEARS. I DO NOT KNOW HOW LIKELY THIS IS TO LEAD TO THE GAS TANK DROPPING BUT I DON'T FEEL TO GOOD ABOUT IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STRAP THAT HELD THE HEAT SHIELD AND THE FUEL TANK FRACTURED. THE FUEL TANK AND HEAT SHIELD WERE ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE BY A VERY SMALL PORTION OF THE STRAP. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD POSSIBLY CATCH ON FIRE OR EXPLODE IF DRIVEN OVER A MASSIVE ROAD BUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,138.
THIS CAR ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS HARDLY BEEN DRIVEN GIVEN THE FACT THAT IT IS 4 YEARS OLD. I HEARD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE AND TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC. HE TOLD ME THAT A BOLT CAME OFF THE HEAT SHIELD BY THE GAS TANK. I'M SURPRISED THAT SUCH A LIGHTLY DRIVEN CAR COULD ALREADY HAVE SUCH EXPENSIVE PROBLEMS. FUEL TANK PROTECTOR BAND ON THE SUB ASSEMBLY RUSTED AND BROKE OFF -.THE 2 REMAINING BOLTS HELD. IF IT WOULD HAVE COMPLETELY FALLEN OFF THE CAR BEHIND US COULD HAVE HIT IT AND WE WOULD NOT BE AWARE THAT THE ASSEMBLY TO PROTECT THE FUEL TANK WAS MISSING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY, IT STOPPED COMPLETELY AND WOULD GO AT ALL. THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING SIGNS. IT WOULDN'T RESTART, UNLESS YOU LET IT COOL DOWN FOR 10 MINUTES OR SO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WITH A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING UPHILL ON A ONE-WAY STREET IN DOWNTOWN WHEN I SAW AND HEARD THE SPARKS ABOUT 1 MINUTE APART FROM EACH OTHER ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE BETWEEN THE CRACK OF THE HOOD, THE CAR LOST POWER AND TURNED OFF. I STARTED IT AGAIN, AND IT ONLY MOVED ABOUT TWO FEET AND TURNED OFF. THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACK, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. AN UNKNOWN DRIVER WHO WAS IN FRONT OF US WAS MERGING TO PARK TO THE RIGHT TOLD US TO GET OFF BECAUSE THE CAR WAS ON FIRE, NEXT THE SMOKE WAS VISIBLE. IT BEGAN TO SMELL LIKE BURNED PLASTIC, AND THEN WE SAW THE THICK GREY SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE CRACK OF THE HOOD. I PULLED THE HAND EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR FROM ROLLING BACK DOWN ANY FURTHER. I OPENED THE HOOD WE ALL GOT OUT OF THE CAR. I WENT BACK INSIDE THE CAR TO UNHOOKED THE HARNESS OFF MY DOG. I WAS SO SCARED THAT I COULDN'T RELEASE MY DOG, AND MY SON'S GIRLFRIEND HELPED ME, AND WE GOT MY DOG OUT. MY SON, HIS GIRLFRIEND AND I GOT THE SUPER-SIZE LARGE DRINK WE JUST BOUGHT AT MCDONALD'S AND DUMPED ON THE FIRE WITH THE HELP OF THE UNKNOWN MAN WHO GOT A BUCKET OF SOME LIQUID POSSIBLY WATER FROM THE HOTEL NEXT TO US, AND THE FIRE WAS OUT. I WAS SO TERRIFYING OF HOW RAPID MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND HOW FAST EVERYTHING HAPPENING. MY CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED BY TOYOTA REGULARLY, AND THE MECHANIC TOLD US THAT THERE IS NO KNOWN REASON WHY THE FIRE STARTED. TOYOTA HAS REPLACED THE DEFECTED COMPUTER TWICE, THE TRANSMISSION ONCE, I HAD TWO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN THE PAST, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN A CAR WITH SO MANY MANUFACTURERS DEFECTIVE PARTS. UNEXPLAINABLE FIRE, IS THE RESPONSE I GOT FROM THE INSURANCE AND REPAIR SHOP WHICH DOES NOT MAKE ME FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT COULD CAUGHT FIRE AT ANY TIME.

AS RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISING AND A CONTUSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
AT 73 MILES AN HOUR I SLAMMED I SWERVED TO AVOID A CAR THAT HAD COME IN TO MY LANE, I LOST CONTROL AND SLAMMED IN TO THE CENTER DIVIDE, COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR AND THEN MY VEHICLE ROLLED 2-3 TIMES AND CAME TO A STOP ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG DEPLOYED (FRONT OR SIDE). CAR WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED, FRONT WAS SEVERELY SMASHED IN BACK WAS DESTROYED WINDSHIELD AND ROOF OF CAR COMPLETELY CAVED IN ALSO. *TR
FILLED GAS TANK AS USUAL. ON LEAVING GAS STATION HEARD CLANKING NOISE. WENT HOME AND THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS LOOSE IN MY TRUNK. CHECKED- NOTHING WAS. MY HUSBAND WENT UNDER THE CAR AND FOUND THE HEAT SHIELD FOR THE GAS TANK LOOSE. THE NEXT DAY I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE HAD TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK HANGER. THE PLASTIC WHERE THEY PUT THE BOLT HAD SPLIT APART. THE BOLT WAS BROKEN IN HALF AND RUSTED. THE NEW GAS TANK HANGER HAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DESIGN SO I AM SURE TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND AS USUAL IS BEING VERY "QUIET". THIS WAS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR ME. TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER WAY TO SECURE THE GAS TANK AND HEAT SHIELD. *TR
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. LAST FRIDAY, I WAS DRIVING AT A REGULAR SPEED ABOUT 35 MPH AND MY COROLLA ACCELERATED. I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKE AND IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FOR AWHILE. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO; SO, I PRAYED. I WAS COMING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN NOT KNOWING IF THE CAR WAS GOING TO STOP, AND I TRIED THE BRAKE AGAIN. FINALLY, THE CAR SLOWED DOWN. I DROVE IT 10 MPH UNTIL I REACHED MY HOUSE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THEY BLAMED ME. I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN AND TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR AND KEPT IT FOR FOUR DAYS. THE MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP TEST DROVE THE CAR AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT DRIVE IT. THEY SAID THEY WOULD BRING IN A SPECIALIST THAT WOULD BE IN ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY. THEY CALLED ME ON MONDAY AND SAID THAT THE MASTER MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT IT INSTEAD AND A SPECIALIST WOULD NOT BE BROUGHT IN TO LOOK AT THE CAR. THE MASTER MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. THEY DID A STATE INSPECTION ON THE CAR AND PASSED IT. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, MY DAUGHTER SPOKE TO A SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISOR. SHE SHOWED HIM ALL THE EVIDENCE THAT SHE FOUND ON THE INTERNET ABOUT PROBLEMS OWNERS' HAD WITH TOYOTA CARS ACCELERATING OUT-OF-CONTROL. THEY LISTENED AND STILL SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WHEN THEY CHECKED THE CAR, BUT COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. SHE TOLD HIM THAT SHE REALIZED THAT TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS MUST HAVE SENT A SCRIPT TO ALL DEALERS BECAUSE THEIR DEALERSHIP ALONG WITH OTHERS SAID THE EXACT SAME THING. SHE TOLD HIM THAT SHE JUST WANTED IT DOCUMENTED THAT I SPOKE UP AND CONFRONTED THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE AND TOLD HIM HOW CONCERNED I WAS ABOUT MY SAFETY AS WELL AS OTHERS. I AM 73 YEARS OLD AND WANT TO BE SAFE FOR ME AND OTHERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND WHENEVER THE STEERING WAS TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,500.
POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION I BOUGHT THE BRAND NEW COROLLA 2007. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND OFF FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE ERROR CODE READ P0741. TOYOTA DEALER ADVISED TO REPLACE WHOLE TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD WITH 75,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER NEED TO CHARGE $4,000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. *JS
BRAKES FAILED, PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR, ATTEMPT TO PRESS BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN STILL RESULTS IN PEDAL MOVING TO FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING. HIT CAR IN FRONT. 2ND OCCURRENCE. FIRST OCCURRENCE IN JUNE 2011. DEALER SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED ON 2/21/2012. BRAKES THEN WORK AFTER INCIDENT. FAILURE SEEMS INTERMITTENT. DEALER SERVICE MANAGER SAYS HE THINKS THE PROBLEM COULD BE A MASTER CYLINDER. TOYOTA INVESTIGATING. SO FAR HAD INVESTIGATOR INSPECT CAR BUT HAVE NOT YET AUTHORIZED DEALER TO DO ANY REPAIRS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2007. TWO MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM ENGAGED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE ALARM FAILURE. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2011, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ON FEBRUARY 21, 2012, A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE PARKED. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE DEALER PRODUCED A FAILURE CODE DETECTED FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH LOCK UP AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. ON FEBRUARY 24, 2012, AN ECM RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. ALSO IN 2012, THE CONTACT NOTICED RUST ON THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND SMALL WHITE CIRCLES (THE SIZE OF BASKETBALLS) ON THE REAR BUMPER AND TRUNK. TWO YEARS LATER, LEOPARD LIKE SPOTS WERE PRESENT ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECTS. THE MANUFACTURER SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER IN DECEMBER OF 2016 FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THERE WERE ONLY PAINT CHIPS ON THE VEHICLE AND FAILED TO INCLUDE THE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE ROOF. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD USE OXIDATION ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE RUST. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PAINT USED ON THE VEHICLE WAS ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIR BAGS. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE NOTICE PERTAINED TO THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT PROVIDED. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP DUE TO A WRECK ON INTERSTATE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE BACK AND THEN WAS PUSHED FORWARD BY THE IMPACT INTO A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. WHILE EXITING A PARKING LOT ONTO A MAIN ROAD, THE CAR STALLED DURING ACCELERATION. THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR, HOWEVER, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE STARTER CONTINUED TO TURN, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURNOVER. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES THE CAR RESTARTED, BUT THEN STALLED AGAIN AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS OF RUNNING. THE DRIVER NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS ILLUMINATED. THINKING IT MAY BE A FUEL LEVEL PROBLEM, THE DRIVER WENT TO THE GAS STATION AND BOUGHT THREE GALLONS OF GAS AND PUT IT IN THE CAR. BUT THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN AFTER RUNNING FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE DRIVER LET THE CAR SIT IN THE PARKING LOT OVER NIGHT AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT IN THE MORNING, AGAIN, THE CAR STALLED AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE. WE WERE NOTIFIED LAST SUMMER/FALL THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON SOME 2005-2008 TOYOTA COROLLA AND MATRIX MODELS. THE LETTER STATES THAT WE WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE AND THAT DUE TO THE POSSIBLE FAILURE OF THE ECM -ENGINE CONTROL MODULE -(CRACKS ON WELDS) THE ENGINE MAY STOP WORKING WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA STEEL RIM ISSUES. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS TWICE WITH THE STEEL RIMS ON MY CAR AND AM AFRAID THERE WILL BE MORE AS MY CAR AGES. THE RIMS RUST. I TURNED A CORNER TOO SHARP AND BARELY GRAZED THE CONCRETE, WHICH BENT THE WHEEL RIM AND CAUSED MY TIRE TO BLOW OUT, AND I HAD TO REPLACE THAT TIRE. NOW, I HIT A POTHOLE, AND ENTIRE WHEEL RIM BUCKLED, TORE MY TIRE TO BITS, AND IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT RIM FOR MY CAR. I COULD NOT LOCATE ONE ONLINE, COULD NOT GET A RETURN PHONE CALL FROM SAM SWOPE'S TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO TRY TO SEE IF THE PART COULD BE ORDERED, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET ANOTHER DEALER TO SELL ME ONE AT A WHOPPING $141 INCLUDING TAX. I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS WHEN I HIT THAT POTHOLE AND WAS GOING AT A SLOW SPEED. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I'D BE DEAD. NOW THAT I LOOK AT ALL OF THE RIMS ON MY CAR, EVERY RIM IS BENT SOMEWHERE ALONG THE EDGES. THE METAL ON THESE RIMS IS OF THE POOREST QUALITY I HAVE EVER SEEN. I'D EXPECT STEEL TO HOLD UP BETTER THAN THIS, AND THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHEN STEEL RIMS BUCKLE, DESTROY YOUR TIRE AND YOU CAN LOOSE CONTROL OF YOUR CAR. I AM ALSO AFRAID THAT THIS ISN'T' THE LAST OF MY PROBLEMS WITH THESE RIMS. I BELIEVE THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN, AND IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANOTHER RIM FOR MY PARTICULAR CAR. AT THE END OF 2009 WHEN THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED I WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT FOR A TWO YEAR OLD CAR WITH ONLY 31K. I DID REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS TO PROTECT THE CAR. YESTERDAY, THE CAR HAD A GRINDING NOISE, SO I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE LEFT PAD WAS COMPLETELY GONE, I WAS SURPRISED, BECAUSE IT IS ONLY HAS 15K SINCE THE LAST TIME HE REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS, HE TOLD ME THAT THE CALIPER WAS STUCK AND CAUSED THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE MOISTURE ENTERED THE BRAKE DISC AND FROZE THE DISK AND FROZE THE CALIPERS AND CAUSED THIS. THE CAR HAS ONLY 46K AND TO CHANGE THE BRAKES TWICE THERE IS SOME DESIGN AND SAFETY ISSUE WITH MOISTURE GETTING INTO THE CALIPER. IT IS TOYOTA'S DESIGN AND ALL COROLLA 'S IN THE USA NEED TO BE FIXED, TO KEEP MOISTURE FROM GETTING INTO THE CALIPER AND CAUSING IT TO STICK. IT IS PUBLIC SAFETY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY NEED ANOTHER THROTTLE CLEANING BUT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED SINCE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN WEEK AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE FOUR FUEL INJECTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. AFTER THE REPAIRS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THERE WERE PARTICLES IN THE FUEL LINE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FUEL LINE WOULD BE FLUSHED AND THE PARTIALS WOULD BE REMOVED.THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V384000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) BUT THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE FAILURE DID NOT PERTAIN TO THE RECALL. SHORTLY AFTER HAVING THE SSP, COMPUTER REPLACED UNDER RECALL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON AND GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FAULT CODE #741 WAS A TRANSMISSION CODE AND THEY HAD TOP REMOVE THE PAN TO CHECK IT OUT FOR A COST OF $350.00. WE ARE THE FIRST OWNERS OF THIS CAR AND BEING IN THE AUTO FIELD FOR OVER 30 YEARS I TOLD THEM THAT THE TRANSMISSION FELT NO DIFFERENT THAN THE DAY WE GOT THE CAR AND SUGGESTED THAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE IN THE COMPUTER THAT WAS REPLACED BUT THEY INSISTED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE PAN TO INVESTIGATE AND WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE COMPUTER MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM. I REFUSED TO BE CHARGED $350.00 TO HAVE THEM FIND WHAT I ALREADY KNEW AND THEN INCUR OTHER CHARGES FOR THEM TO TROUBLESHOOT TO FIND THE TRUE CAUSE OF THE LIGHT. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM EVER SINCE THE COMPUTER WAS CHANGED ON 3/10/11 UNTIL NOW 5/13/15. THE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND STAY FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS AND THEN GO OFF FOR ABOUT THE SAME TIME. HAS ANYONE ELSE COMPLAINED ABOUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS AFTER HAVING THE COMPUTER REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL ? THERE WAS NEVER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT UNTIL THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED AND I HAVE BEEN IGNORING THE LIGHT NOW . IF SOMETHING SHOWS UP THAT IS VALID I WON'T PAY ATTENTION BECAUSE OF THIS AND POSSIBLY CAUSE SOME DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE PREVIOUS REPAIR PARTS WERE ONLY GUARANTEED FOR A YEAR. THE CONTACT WILL HAVE TO PAY THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,215. REGULAR USE OF THE GRACO SNUGRIDE 32 AND BASE IN 2007 COROLLA. THE CARSEAT WILL FLIP SIDEWAYS BUT REMAIN INSTALLED IN THE BASE. IT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH NOW THAT THE BABY IS 17 LBS IT CAN OCCUR ON A SHORT TRIP, LESS THAT 10 MINUTES IN THE CAR. THERE HAVE NOT BEEN ANY SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES AS A RESULT OF THE FLIPPING. THE CARSEAT BASE IS REINSTALLED WEEKLY AT MINIMUM IN ATTEMPT TO DECREASE THE FREQUENCY THAT THE CAR SEAT FLIPS. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THEIR RECOMMENDATION WAS "IF THE CAR SEAT IS NOT FITTING SAFE IN THE MIDDLE SEAT, THEN YOU WOULD WANT TO USE ONE OF THE SIDE SEATS WITH THE LATCH SYSTEM."
