I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW TOYOTA COROLLA 2007, RECENTLY I HAVE HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND OFF FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. WHEN I WENT TO CHECK ON WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY ADVISED ME I NEEDED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE THE CAR ISN'T EVEN 4 YEARS OLD AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS NOT MY FAULT. THEY TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION CONVERTER TORQUE IS STICKING, AND THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE FOR $5700.00. THE ONLY WAY TO REPAIR IT , IS TO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE PLACING THE SELECTOR IN DRIVE FROM THE REVERSE POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THE SELECTOR FELT AS IF IT WERE LOOSE BEFORE REVERSING. THE DEALER ADVISED HE HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED A FAILURE SIMILAR TO HERS AND WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT WITH THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 39,000. UPDATED 7/20/10 *CN UPDATED 07/23/10*JB
VALVE STEM FAIL: 12/9/08 4 NEW MICHELIN WEATHERWISE II 80,000 MILE TIRES PURCHASED FROM SEARS BAYBROOK FOR 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. 5/31/10 BLOWOUT ON RF TIRE AT 70MPH WITH 20,000 MILES ON TIRES AND 8/32 TREAD LEFT. NO DAMAGE TO STEEL RIM, FULL WHEEL COVER REMAINED IN PLACE. 6/3/10 BLOWOUT TIRE/RIM TAKEN TO SEARS BAYBROOK. SEARS REPRESENTATIVES NOT INTERESTED IN CAUSE OR RESOLUTION OF PROBLEM. 6/4/10 TIRE/RIM TAKEN TO LOCAL DISCOUNT TIRE, PERSONNEL IMMEDIATELY FOUND CAUSE OF BLOWOUT (RAPID PRESSURE LOSS FROM STEM FAILURE, CRACKS AT BASE). RECOMMENDED CHECK OTHER STEMS. 2 OTHERS REMAINING ON CAR WERE ALSO INSTALLED BY SEARS BAYBROOK DECEMBER 2008. 6/5/10 AFTER PRESENTING PROOF OF CAUSE AND ARGUING WITH SEARS BAYBROOK, THEY AGREED TO REPLACE TIRE WITH MINIMAL CHARGE. 6/5/10 I TOOK REPLACEMENT TIRE TO INSTALL ON MY DAUGHTERS COROLLA AT SCHOOL IN COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS. ASKED SEARS COLLEGE STATION TO CHECK OTHER TWO SEARS INSTALLED STEMS FOR DEGRADATION CITING RECALL INFORMATION GIVEN BY DISCOUNT TIRE. SEARS PERSONNEL SAID MY INFORMATION WAS INCORRECT ON STEM RECALL AND REFUSED TO INSPECT MY SEARS INSTALLED STEMS. I EXPLAINED HISTORY TO NO AVAIL. SO I LEFT MY VAN IN COLLEGE STATION FOR MY DAUGHTER TO USE AND RETURNED WITH THE COROLLA TO CONFRONT SEARS BAYBROOK PERSONNEL ABOUT THE STEMS. 6/10/10 TOOK THE COROLLA TO SEARS BAYBROOK TO EXCHANGE A TIRE FOR CORRECT TREAD AND INSPECT THE TWO 12/08 INSTALLED SEARS STEMS. FOUND ONE CRACKED AND READY TO FAIL. PRIOR TO STEM REPLACEMENT, I ASKED THAT THE STEMS BE SAVED FOR ME AFTER REMOVAL. THE STEMS WERE SUBSEQUENTLY LOST DESPITE THE SALESMAN AND I COMBING THRU THE GARBAGE CANS. I SAW A SEARS PRINTOUT OF THE STEM RECALL/FAILURE INFORMATION WITH PICTURES OF A STEM IDENTICAL IN DESIGN AND CRACKING TO THE ONE ON THE BLOW OUT TIRE AS WELL AS JUST REMOVED FROM THE COROLLA. THIS PROVED THAT SEARS KNEW ABOUT THE STEM PROBLEM BUT FAILED TO CONTACT ME OR HELP WHEN I ASKED. 6/12/10 RESEARCHED VALVE STEMS, LEARNED OF CHINA RECALL. *TR
I PLANNED A 200-MILE (ONE WAY) VACATION OVER MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, MAY 28 - 31, 2010. I HAD NO SIGNS OF CAR TROUBLES AT THE START OF MY VACATION ON MAY 28 AND NO CAR TROUBLES DURING MY VACATION. HOWEVER, AS I WAS GETTING READY TO DRIVE THE 200 MILES BACK HOME ON MAY 31, I STARTED MY CAR, BUT IT DIED. I STARTED IT AGAIN, AND IT DIED. I MADE SURE THE ACCESSORIES WERE OFF AND THAT NOTHING WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY. I THEN STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, AND THE ENGINE RAN FOR 30 SECONDS AND THEN DIED. SINCE THE CAR WAS STILL COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY, I CALLED TOYOTA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, BUT THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAY. WITH NO WAY TO GET BACK HOME, I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REQUEST A DAY OFF FROM WORK THE NEXT DAY, JUNE 1, AND CONTACTED TOYOTA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AGAIN. THEY TOWED MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. AFTER THEY HAD A CHANCE TO REVIEW, THEY TOLD ME THE COMPUTER/ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE)/ECU (ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT) FAILED, AND IT WAS CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT TO THE ENTIRE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THEY REPLACED THE ECM FREE OF CHARGE. WHILE I AM VERY THANKFUL I WAS PARKED AND IN A SAFE LOCATION (NOT DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY), THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A FAIRLY NEW CAR WITH UNDER 36,000 MILES. I SEARCHED COMPLAINTS, AND IT APPEARS OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2005 - 2007 COROLLAS. TOYOTA ISSUED A TSB BUT DID NOT MAIL IT TO ALL THEIR POTENTIALLY AFFECTED CUSTOMERS. TOYOTA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THESE CARS INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS TO COMPLAIN AND TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THEIR CARS BREAK DOWN! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE BRAKING FROM APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER YET THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AFTER HEAVY PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO PARK UNTIL THE IGNITION WAS SHUT OFF. WHEN RESTARTING, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVED FROM THE LOCATION AND WAS NOT EXAMINED OR REPAIRED. UPDATED 11/23/10 *CN UPDATED 11/30/10*JB
MY 2007 COROLLA STALLED AT AN INTERSECTION. I WAS WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I CALLED A FRIEND WHO HELPED ME PUSH MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I THEN CALLED AAA AND THEY CAME AND TOWED MY CAR TO A CAR SERVICE. THIS HAPPENED AT 8:30PM TODAY AND SO THE CAR SERVICE WAS ALREADY CLOSED AND I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL FRIDAY MORNING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT CAUSED THIS. IT WAS A HARROWING AND TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE AND I FEARED FOR MY SAFETY. *TR
2007 TOYOTA COROLLA STEERING PROBLEM - ON MAY 26, 2010 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROX. 50MPH MY COROLLA BEGAN TO VEER TO THE LEFT, MY DAUGHTER WAS UNABLE TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEEL AND IT FELT "LOCKED" IN PLACE. THE VEERING RESULTED IN THE CAR SPINNING OUT ON THE FREEWAY AND CRASHING INTO ANOTHER CAR. TWO WITNESSES REPORTED THAT FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE CAR STARTED TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL ON THE DRY FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. *TR
MY COROLLA 2007 STOPPED ON THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY ON AND BATTERY LIGHT IS ALSO ON WITHOUT ANY WARNING. AFTER TWO MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON AND DREW ONE BLOCK TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK BATTERY AND OTHER PROBLEMS. MECHANIC SAID BATTERY IS WEAK, HE RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE BATTERY, BUT HE SAID SOME OTHER PROBLEMS MAY EXIST. I ASKED HIM TO CHANGE BATTERY. HE CHANGED AND IT STARTED OK. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER I DREW THREE SIGNALS, CAR STOPPED ON THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AGAIN WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY ON WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND BATTERY LIGHT IS ALSO ON. I TOWED THE CAR TO DEALER. AS PER INVOICE THEY DID FOLLOWING WORK. ?P0607- ECM SHORTENED, REPLACED ECM AND RE-CHECKED: OPERATES AS DESIGNED?. MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY, THEY DID NOT CHARGE FOR PARTS AND SERVICE. I STRONGLY BELIEVE IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. IF THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED ON FREEWAY, THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS AND LEAD TO FATAL CRASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED MOVING INTO THE INTERSECTION CAUSING A VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE CONTACT'S DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE NECK. THE INSURANCE COMPANY INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKES WERE WORKING PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING FAST AND THE CRASH WAS NOT SEVERE ENOUGH FOR THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY, BUT THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE MOUNT VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT 10-24232 WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 33,000.
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH 30K MILES ON IT. TWO WEEKS AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHIFTING ROUGHLY. AFTER A WHILE IT WOULD START RUNNING OK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF. I TOOK IT TO JIFFY LUBE THINKING THAT IT WAS LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID AND IT WAS NOT. THIS CONTINUED FOR TWO WEEKS AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING. THEY REPLACED THE ECM UNDER WARRANTY. I LOOKED THIS PROBLEM UP ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS WIDESPREAD AND VERY DANGEROUS IN CERTAIN INSTANCES. THE WEB SITE THAT I VISITED IS HTTP://WWW.TOYOTANATION.COM/FORUM/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=201631&PAGE=3. I STRONGLY URGE YOUR ORGANIZATION TO GET ON TOP OF THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THESE VEHICLES. MY CONCERN NOW IS THAT HOW LONG WILL THE NEW ECM LAST AND IS IT SAFE. IS THE SAME COMPANY MANUFACTURING THE REPLACEMENT ECMS? I BELIEVE DELCO MANUFACTURED THE ORIGINALS. CAN DELCO BE FORCED TO CLOSE THEIR DOORS FOR ENDANGERING THE PUBLIC? SHAME ON TOYOTA! I WON'T BUY ANOTHER ONE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CONTACT DROVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. HE WAITED TWO MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND HAD BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
2007 COROLLA LE, AUTO TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SHIFT VIOLENTLY. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR BECAME SLUGGISH. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ECU WAS BAD AND REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND TOYOTA RELEASED A TSB IN 2007. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE ECU ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE REPLACEMENT WAS BAD AS WELL. *TR

COULDN'T STARTED IT. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO TOYOTA DEALER. BAD ENGINE CONTROL UNIT WAS IDENTIFIED AND REPLACED. THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SHOULD THE CAR SHUT DOWN SUDDENLY AT HIGH SPEED OR ON A BUSY STREET. *TR

TALKING TO TOYOTA RIGHT NOW TO SEE IF THEY WILL PAY TO REPLACE. I SEE THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR TOYOTA COROLLAS. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL YET? I HAD JUST STARTED MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA IN A PARKING LOT, I BACKED OUT OF A MY PARKING SPACE, AND PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MPH, WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO STOP. THE CAR CONTINUED TO LURCH FORWARD. EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. I APPLIED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE, BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE. I HAD TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK, IN ORDER TO STOP THE CAR. I THEN LOOKED DOWN AT THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS. MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE AND THE ACCELERATOR WAS NOT DEPRESSED IN ANYWAY, HOWEVER THE ENGINE RPM'S CONTINUED TO INCREASED. I HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF TO STOP THE ENGINE SPEED FROM INCREASING. I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY, BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA DIED WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, I RESTARTED IT AND WHEN I SHIFTED IT BACK INTO GEAR IT MADE A HARD CLUNK AND WOULD NOT GET OVER APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR. I GOT THE CARE HOME AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. AFTER READING THE OWNERS MANUAL IT EXPLAINED THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE GAS CAP POSSIBLY. REMOVED AND REINSTALLED IT THE CAR SEEMED TO RUN FINE, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, THE CAR HAVE NOW DONE THIS SEVERAL TIME. I DID READ ON THE INTERNET THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND SOME PEOPLE WERE TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE OF IMPROPER MAINTENANCE. I NOT THAT NOT TO BE TRUE. *TR
DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY, I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE TO TURN AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN. COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT, AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE. ARRIVED HOME IN THE DRIVEWAY, MY HUSBAND OPENED THE HOOD AND ASKED ME TO TURN THE CAR ON, LEFT IT RUNNING AND IT SHUT DOWN IN ABOUT 3 MINUTES. THIS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. CALLED THE NEAREST TOYOTA DEALER AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. HAD THE CAR TOWED AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
MY 2007 COROLLA LE HAD 59.5K MILES WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIT. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED BY AUTOZONE AND THEY READ THE CODE IT STATED REPLACE THE ECU. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ECU. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING SINCE I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 1992 TOYOTA PESAO AND FROM 24K TO 250K MILES I NEVER ONCE HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE OR THE ELECTRONICS. NOW THIS CAR IS BLOWING UP COMPUTERS AT 60K? LAST TIME I BUY A TOYOTA! *TR
2007 TOYOTA COROLLA STALLED ON THE EVENING OF 15 APR 2010. THE NEXT MORNING WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR TOYOTA DEALER (WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED). I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA WHICH I BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER 2006. ALL OF THE LIGHTS AND SERVICE INDICATORS CAME ON, AND THEN SHUT OFF LEAVING ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I TRIED TO START MY VEHICLE AGAIN, BUT NOTHING. MY FRIEND HAD TO HELP ME TO PUSH THE VEHICLE INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THERE, I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN, AND SO I HEADED HOME. JUST AS I GOT TO MY HOUSE, THE CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN, AND RIGHT BEFORE IT SHUT OFF, IT WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE GAS. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY SHOP, AND AFTER CHECKING THE ENTIRE CAR AND DOING A DIAGNOSTIC, I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ECM AND THAT IT WOULD COST 650 TO REPAIR (AND THAT'S FOR A USED/REBUILT ONE). I CALLED TOYOTA, AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY UP TO 80,000 MILES. I AM JUST UNDER 80,000 MILES THANK GOD. THE GUY I SPOKE WITH SOUNDED AS IF HE WASN'T SURPRISED OF THE ISSUE. I AM HAVING MY VEHICLE TOWED TO TOYOTA TODAY, AND I GUESS WILL SEE HOW THIS ALL PANS OUT. THE BAD PART ABOUT IT ALL IS, WHAT IF THEY FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT HAPPENS AGAIN? MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA'S ENGINE SHUT OFF AS I WAS GETTING OFF THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO A BUSY HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO GLIDE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE. I TOOK MY 2007 COROLLA TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 1/18/2010 IN BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA BECAUSE OF THROTTLE SURGES, AND AT ONE POINT, LOSS OF THROTTLE CAPABILITY. THEY REPLACED 1 PART RELATED TO THE THROTTLE THAT COST OVER 1100 DOLLARS. IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THINGS, AND I RETURNED IT ON 3/23/10, ONLY TO FIND OUT A COMPUTER BOARD AND OXYGEN SENSOR NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF 1,000 ADDITIONAL DOLLARS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA'S LACK OF OWNERSHIP REGARDING THESE ISSUES. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 12, 2010, I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA HOME ON MY LUNCH HOUR AND MY CAR STALLED TWICE ON A SHARP TURN. I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE AND A TICKET WAS GENERATED FOR MY CASE. THE DISTRICT MANAGER SAID SHE WOULD DO NOTHING TO REPLACE THIS PART. SO MUCH FOR HELPING A (FORMER) RELIABLE TOYOTA OWNER. MY FOUR EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE MADE UP OF CHEAP PLASTIC AND THEY HAVE DISINTEGRATED. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE SINCE GETTING IN AND OUT OF THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EASY. I CAN ONLY ACCESS THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE DRIVER'S DOOR. ALL THE OTHER HANDLES HAVE BROKEN OFF COMPLETELY. WHEN YOU USE THIS VEHICLE IN AN URBAN, TRAFFIC CONGESTED SITUATION, ENTERING THIS CAR BECOMES VERY DANGEROUS. IF THIS VEHICLE WAS EVER INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT, IT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE TO JUST OPEN THE CAR DOORS TO RESCUE PASSENGERS SINCE THE DOOR ARE INOPERABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE STEPPED ON THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AFTER HE REMOVED HIS FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. UPDATED 03/26/10. *LJ

UNEXPECTED, SUDDEN, FULL ACCELERATION WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP [WITH THE TRANSAXLE IN "DRIVE"]. *TR
WE HAVE TWO TOYOTAS,A 2006 CAMRY LE AND A 2007 COROLLA. IN BOTH CASES IN THE LAST MONTH WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN SURGES WHILE THE CARS WERE IN GEAR BUT COMPLETELY STOPPED. IN THE FIRST,THE 2006 CAMRY MADE A SUDDEN SURGE AHEAD WHILE WAITING AT AN INTERSECTION. IT LASTED ONLY A BRIEF MOMENT BUT IT WAS QUITE NOTICEABLE. I REPORTED IT TO OUR TOYOTA DEALER RIGHT AWAY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT ONE OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES. THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE SERVICE DEPT. SEEMED UNCONCERNED EVEN THOUGH I INSISTED ON THE SERIOUSNESS OF IT. THE SECOND OCCURRED THIS LAST WEEK AND WAS FAR MORE SERIOUS. WHILE AWAITING AT A STOP SIGN THE CAR BEGAN TO REV TREMENDOUSLY AND THE RPMS SHOT INTO THE RED ZONE. I HAD MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE AND IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE ENTIRELY. I RE STARTED THE ENGINE SHORTLY AND NO FURTHER PROBLEMS RESULTED THAT DAY. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SAME DEALER AND DETAILED THE EVENT TO THE SERVICE DEPT.. I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN IMMEDIATELY,WHICH I DID.THIS ONE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY DID A CODE CHECK ON IT AND FOUND NOTHING AMISS. I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG! I WROTE TO TOYOTA'S WEBSITE BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE OTHER THAN THEY WOULD LOOK INTO THE FIRST REPORT FILED AFTER THE INCIDENT WITH THE 2007 CAMRY. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. TWICE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A PERIOD OF 24 HOURS AND THEN WENT OFF FOR A WEEK. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER. 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA SOMETIMES WON'T START. TURNS OVER FAST WITH STARTER, BUT WON'T START. THEN, THE NEXT TRY, IT DOES. MAY BE RELATED TO THE SAME PROBLEM AS STALLING. ALSO THE STEERING FEELS TOO STIFF, MAKES IT HARD TO KEEP IN THE LANE WHEN IT IS WINDY. *TR
