I WAS IN A PARKING LOT, PARKING MY CAR. JUST BEFORE I HAD THE CAR IN ITS PARKING PLACE, THE CAR WENT WILD, TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL. IT WENT UP THE SLOPE BORDERING THE PARKING LOT, THEN MADE A TURN, AND RE-ENTERED THE PARKING LOT. IT CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT BUMPED INTO TWO OTHER PARKED CARS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NOTICED POWER STEERING FAILURE ON OCTOBER 4, 2009. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WITH PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO VIBRATE. ALTHOUGH, IT WAS RAINING WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE NOT A FACTOR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER ON OCTOBER 5, 2009. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND THAT HE COULD ROTATE, AND BALANCE THE TIRES. THE CONTACT REFUSED TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED BUT ACCEPTED HAVING THEM BALANCED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA ACCELERATED DANGEROUSLY THREE TIMES . I PUT ON BRAKES WITH ALL MY MIGHT, PUT IT IN PARKED POSITION. NO DAMAGE TO ANYTHING, OR ANYONE, BUT THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS SCARY. IT'S NOT AMONG THE RECALLED MODELS. I REMOVED THE TOYOTA FLOOR MAT FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I WILL GO BACK TO DEALER : I WANT THEM TO LOOK AT THE CAR'S COMPUTER. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA FOR SOME TIME NOW. WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR SWERVES BACK AND FORTH. I HAVE TO REALLY HOLD DOWN ON THE WHEEL TO GET IT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS SLIGHTLY UNALIGNED AND THAT THE RE ALIGNED THE STEERING. AFTER THIS THE CAR STILL HAS PROBLEMS WHEN DRIVING AND TOYOTA SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT THAT'S NOT TRUE AT ALL. I HAVE HAD THREE NEAR ACCIDENTS ON THE HIGHWAY DO TO THE CAR SWERVING BUT LUCKILY NOBODY HAS BEEN HURT. I WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE TOYOTA JUST DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE WHEN I GO TO THERE GROPPONE DEALERSHIP IN CONCORD, NH; WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP ME. IT SAYS BELOW THE DATE OF INCIDENT BUT I WILL PUT MOST RECENT SINCE THERE ARE THREE INDIVIDUAL NEAR ACCIDENTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING, THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT FOR MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA CAME ON, AND THE CAR BEGAN TO 'JERK' OR 'STUTTER', AS THOUGH IT WAS SWITCHING GEARS OR LOSING POWER. MY HUSBAND AND I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER, AND THEY FOUND CODES P0441, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY P2716 -- CORRECTION WAS R&R ENGINE CONTROL MODULE, AND THE PEOPLE WORKING ON IT SEEMED TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 TO 30 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO "DRIVE" AND THEN IT UNEXPECTEDLY MOVED IN REVERSE. THE "ENGINE" AND "BATTERY" WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR ONE MILE AND THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE ELECTRICAL COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; ALTHOUGH, THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO HAVE CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,000. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED HE WOULD RECEIVE DOCUMENTS IN THE MAIL REGARDING HIS COMPLAINT HE FILED IN SEPTEMBER 2009. UPDATED 03/22/10
TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING, ALL DASH WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN TOTAL FAILURE OF ALL POWER. CAR TOWED TO DUNNING TOYOTA, ANN ARBOR MI. DEALER REPLACED ELECTRIC ENGINE CONTROL COMPUTER...COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
RE MY 2007 COROLLA CE. DRIVING WITH MY HUSBAND IN MY 2007 COROLLA IN 8/09 WAS MAKING RIGHT TURN OUT OF RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION ONTO HEAVY TRAFFIC ROADS DURING RUSH HOUR. WITH NO WARNING ENGINE LITERALLY STOPPED DEAD AS I WAS MOVING INTO LANE AND PERHAPS 20% OF WAY INTO LANE. ENGINE HAD BEEN RUNNING FINE BEFORE THAT WITH ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION OF PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY--WHEN ENGINE STOPPED DEAD--FRONT OF CAR WAS NOT FULLY IN LANE INTO WHICH I WAS TURNING AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC COULD MOVE AROUND ME. TURNED OFF IGNITION, LET SET FOR PERHAPS 60 SECONDS; WAS ABLE TO RE-START ENGINE; CAR STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME, DRIVING 1.2 MILES. GARAGED OVERNIGHT; CAR STARTED NEXT MORNING BUT DIED HALFWAY OUT OF GARAGE. AFTER 5-10 MINUTES STARTED AGAIN BUT DIED AFTER DRIVING 30 YARDS. HAD TOWED TO DEALER; LEARNED THERE'D BEEN A "DEALER'S TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN IN 9/08, TSB EGO42-07, IN RE DEFECTIVE PART, TO QUOTE SERVICE MGR "BAD BATCH OF ECM'S IN "SOME" 2007 TOYOTAS." DEALERS WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE INFORMED CUSTOMERS OF THIS DEFECTIVE ECM WHEN THEY BROUGHT COROLLAS IN FOR SERVICE. PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAD THIS COROLLA SERVICED AT 2 DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS BETWEEN 9/08 AND 8/09, DATE OF INCIDENT, AND NEITHER INFORMED ME OF THIS TSB. MY HUSBAND AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THIS INCIDENT AND, SINCE I TRANSPORT MY 4 YR OLD NEPHEW, HE, TOO, HAD BEEN AT RISK. DEALERSHIP REP SHRUGGED ... COULD HAVE CARED LESS. THIS DEFECT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN A MERE TSB ... THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL AND COROLLA OWNERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. ONLINE RESEARCH AT THE TIME INDICATED THAT THERE HAD BEEN COROLLAS WHICH HAD DIED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, SO WE WERE PROBABLY FORTUNATE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC FOR US. *TR
WE HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. WE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION TWO TIMES IN THE FALL OF 2009. ONE TIME IT WAS ON OUR COUNTY ROAD GOING AROUND A CURVE. MY WIFE LET UP ON THE GAS AND IT SPED UP. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL AND STOPPED. THE OTHER TIME IT WAS IN A PARKING LOT. SHE HAD DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER FOR A LITTLE UNDER 1000.00. NO REPORT WAS MADE SINCE WE PAID FOR IT OURSELVES AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO ANY OTHER VEHICLE. WE TOOK THE CAR INTO TOYOTA AND THEY CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT BOTH INCIDENCES WERE DRIVER ERROR. WE CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY SAY THE SAME THING SINCE OUR VEHICLE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I DON'T BELIEVE IT WAS DRIVER ERROR. I BELIEVE IT IS IN THE ELECTRONICS OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
CAR STALLED ON HIGHWAY AT ~55 MPH, AND SUCCESSFULLY RESTARTED ONCE. STALLED OUT AGAIN ON HIGHWAY LATER THAT DAY AND NEEDED TOW TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP NOTED ENGINE STALLING BELOW 1000 RPM, AND COULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPUTER (ECM). DEALERSHIP REPLACED ECM (89661-02K21) FOR FREE UNDER WARRANTY, AND TOYOTA CORP. REIMBURSED FOR TOWING. *TR
RE: 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA CE, PURCHASED IN JULY 2007, APPROX. 15,000 MILES. ON 7/29/09, CAR STALLED TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (I-95) AS I NORMALLY DO. STALLED ON MY BLOCK AFTER I MADE TURN INTO STREET. AFTER A MINUTE, WAS ABLE TO RESTART WITH MINIMAL ENGINE POWER TO TRAVEL ANOTHER 100 FEET. HAD TO REPEAT THIS UNTIL I REACHED MY DRIVEWAY. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A DEFECT (WIRE FOR THE COMPUTER DISLODGED OR FELL OFF AND CAUSED THE PROBLEM). THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. NO TIME TO PULL OFF TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONLY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT APPEARED WHEN TRYING TO RESTART ENGINE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND WITHOUT SOME INDICATION THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY OR WORSE. DEALER REPLACED THE PART THAT DAY. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH APPROXIMATELY 68,000 MILES IS SUDDENLY HAVING HARSH TO VIOLENT TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A SHOP IDENTIFY OR DIAGNOSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE. THEY SAID IT WAS CODE P2716. I CONDUCTED AN INTERNET INVESTIGATION AND DISCOVERED SEVERAL PEOPLE ALSO EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL ISSUES. ALSO, THE SAME INVESTIGATION REVEALED TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND RELEASED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. TO ME, THE PROBLEM IS NOT AN ISSUE OF WEAR AND TEAR. INSTEAD, IT'S CLEAR THERE'S A DEFECT IN A PART OF THE CAR WHICH CAN POTENTIALLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAROLLA.THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED, ME AND MY WIFE WERE OUT SHOPPING. WE WENT ALL OVER THE PLACE THAT DAY, WE PULLED IN TO THE LOCAL WALMART AND THE CAR JUST DIED. TRIED TO CHANGE THE BATTERY ,BUT NOTHING. HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP. 1 WEEK LATER THEY SAID IT WAS A FUSIBLE LINK. (IT JUST BURNT IN HALF). IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. HAD TO PAY AROUND $600 TO HAVE THIS FIXED WAS OVER THE WARRANTY BY 4000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE IDLED HIGHLY. SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV EXCESSIVELY FOLLOWED BY A LOW POWER RESPONSE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. SHE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER TEN MINUTES AND IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES OCCURRED ON APRIL 28TH, 2007. I WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT THAT HAD A DOWNWARD SLOPE AND AS I MERGED ONTO THE MAIN ROAD, I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES BUT MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I WAS FORCED TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES, BUT EVEN THEN, THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR ANOTHER 10 YARDS. ON MAY 2ND, 2007, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE CHECKED AT HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA IN LOS ANGELES, CA. THE INVOICE NOTES STATE THAT THE CAUSES FOR THE BRAKE PROBLEMS ON THIS PARTICULAR OCCASION WERE THAT THE 'BRAKE PEDAL WAS SPONGY' AND THE 'BRAKES WERE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT'. FOR THE VEHICLE BEING BRAND NEW AND ME BEING THE FIRST OWNER, I FIND IT RATHER DISTURBING THAT THESE BRAKE PROBLEMS HAD ALREADY BECOME AN ISSUE AFTER ONLY ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. ON MARCH 24TH, 2009, ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT BRAKING INCIDENT HAPPENED. AS I ENTERED THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME, I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GO UP THE DRIVEWAY'S INCLINE AND THEN TAPPED ON MY BRAKES. WHEN I TAPPED ON THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. I PULLED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKES BUT IT STILL DID NOT STOP. I WAS FORCED TO STEER MY VEHICLE IN THE DIRECTION OF MY HOUSE IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO HOPEFULLY STOP WITH THE IMPACT. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BROKE THROUGH A WOODEN FENCE SURROUNDING MY FRONT GARDEN BEFORE THE VEHICLE HIT THE CORNER OF MY HOUSE AND FINALLY CAME TO A HALT. THE MOST SERIOUS BRAKING FAILURE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON JUNE 25TH, 2009 IN THE KAISER SUNSET PARKING STRUCTURE. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO PULL OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT. I THEN SHIFTED TO DRIVE WHILE APPLYING MY BRAKES. SINCE THE STRUCTURE WAS AT AN INCLINE THE VEHICLE GAINED VELOCITY AS I DROVE DOWN TO THE LOWER LEVELS TO EXIT. I PRESSED ON MY BRAKES BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I THEN PULLED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT STOP. I WAS FORCED TO HIT THE EXIT CROSS BAR SO THAT THE IMPACT WOULD STOP MY VEHICLE FROM MOVING. *TR
MY HUSBAND'S 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA CAME TO A COMPLETE AND SUDDEN STOP WHILE HE WAS DRIVING. FORTUNATELY, HE WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT AND AAA TOWED HIM TO A TOYOTA DEALER/SERVICE DEPT. THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER HAD THE MAIN COMPUTER REPLACED AT NO CHARGE ON THE WARRANTY. HE TOLD US THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THE MAIN COMPUTER SUDDENLY FAIL ONLY ON TOYOTA COROLLA'S 2003 - 2007. THIS IS SERIOUS AND I AM VERY SHAKEN -- IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IN AN INTERSECTION OR ON THE FREEWAY. HIS ATTITUDE IMPLIED THAT IT WAS NOT UNCOMMON. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I JUST DROPPED OUR TWO KIDS OFF AT MY MOTHER-IN-LAWS HOUSE AND WERE ON OUR WAY BACK HOME WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL GAS. I TOLD MY HUSBAND AND HE STATED TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND HE WOULD CHECK IT OUT. HE POPPED THE HOOD AND FLAMES SHOT OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRST THING THAT I THOUGHT WAS MY HUSBAND WAS ON FIRE. I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND FOUND MY HUSBAND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR LOOKING FOR THE KIDS IN THE BACKSEAT AND HE WAS SCREAMING GET OUT OF THE CAR. I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND WE RAN. WE LOOKED BACK AND ALL I SAW WAS A BIG BALL OF FIRE. WHEN THE FIRED DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FLAMES ALL THAT WAS LEFT OF MY CAR WAS A BURNT FRAME, THE 2 BACK TIRES AND THE SPOILER. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE REALLY UPSET BY THIS SITUATION. WHAT IF OUR FIVE MONTHS OLD AND NINE YEAR OLD WAS IN THE CAR AT THE TIME? WHAT IF MY HUSBAND WAS BURNT SEVERELY BY THE FIRE? WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THE CHILDREN IF BOTH OF US DIED IN THE FIRE? *TR

SHE HAD NOT NOTICED ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE THE REPAIR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,500. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,939. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF A SECOND VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. IN 2009, THE COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED DUE TO A DEFECT. NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
IN MAY 21, 2009, WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IN A 45 MPH ROAD, THE CAR SPEED SUDDENLY COULDN'T MAINTAIN AND STARTED TO DECREASE ALTHOUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THEN FOUND THE CAR ENGINE STALLED AND COULDN'T RESTART. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR HIT HIS CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IN THIS REPORT IT STATES: IT IS FREQUENTLY POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHETHER AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM IS USED IN AN ENGINE IN A SPECIFIC VEHICLE ONCE THE MAKE, THE MODEL, THE MODEL YEAR, AND THE CORRESPONDING TOYOTA ENGINE FAMILY ARE IDENTIFIED. IN 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA OWNERS' MANUAL, PAGE107, IT CLEARLY STATES: IF ENGINE SPEED DOES NOT INCREASE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM SOMEWHERE IN THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. PROBLEM: SQUEEZING / GRINDING NOISE IN BRAKES WHICH SOMETIMES HAPPENS AS ONE DRIVES SLOWLY AND BRAKES. THE PROBLEM STARTED AFTER I HAD THE CAR FOR 2 AND 3 QUARTERS YEARS. TOYOTA TECHNICIAN LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM 2 TIMES AND MENTIONED THAT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. AFTER THAT A TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ME AND MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES ARE FINE AND THAT A CERTAIN REPAIR AT MY COST COULD BE DONE. WHEN I ASKED THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TO EXPLAIN IN WRITING WHAT THE EXACT PROBLEM IS AND HOW TO SOLVE IT AND SHE AGREED TO DO SO. PREVIOUS COMMUNICATION HAD ALSO BE IN WRITING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS MADE AND TO SEE WHY THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE ECU NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. *JB
EVER SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, I WOULD HEAR A SQUEAKING/GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE SOUND ONLY EXISTED WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE TO REVERSE. WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE AT APPROX 35MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN SMOOTHLY BUT ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION OR POWER. VERY DANGEROUS, VERY SCARY. THE CAR WAS GARAGED AND LATER TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CONCEDED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE COMPUTER OR ECM. THERE IS A TSB CONCERNING THIS AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA COROLLAS. FORTUNATELY, I STILL HAD 6K MILES LEFT ON MY WARRANTY SO THIS REPAIR AND THE TOW WAS COVERED BY TOYOTA. I WAS TOLD THAT HAD THIS BEEN AN OUT OF WARRANTY THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE BEEN $1300 FOR AN 18MONTH OLD CAR! I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND TOYOTA SHOULD NOTIFY EVERY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS POSSIBLE PROBLEM. I ALSO BELIEVE THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE REPAIRED REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY LIMITATIONS. *TR

THERE WAS NO DAMAGE. THE THIRD TIME, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD IN THE MIDST OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS SPACE BETWEEN IT AND THE CAR AHEAD, SO HE WAS ABLE TO STOP BEFORE CONTACT. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED HE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR AND IGNITION. HE HAD FOUR DIFFERENT BATTERIES IN THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. HE WAS TOLD THAT THE FIRST TWO HAD BAD CELLS IN THEM. *JB
WE HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA CE WHOSE BRAKES WORE DOWN TOO FAST. WE PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2007 WITH 58 MILES ON THE CAR. I HAD FOUR 2 YEAR OLD GOODYEAR INTEGRITY TIRES ON MY TOYOTA COROLLA 09. THEY HAVE NEVER HAD WHAT HAS FELT LIKE PROPER TREAD/TRACTION IN RAIN LET ALONE SNOW. I ENDED UP HYDROPLAINING AND HIT A TREE, AND NOW MY CARIS A POTENTIAL TOTAL. NOW I HAVE A RUINED CAR FROM A RAINY DAY WHILE DRIVING FORWARD, TRYING TO STEER AWAY FROM EXCESS WATER FORMING, BUT I WAS FAR FROM IN FULL WATER, ONLY THE TWO RIGHT SIDE TIRES, WHEN I TRIED TO MOVE I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO HYDROPLANE AND CRASHED. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE SCARED AND HORRIFIED. DRIVING ON 2 LANE BLACKTOP ROAD, DOG IN MY PATH OF TRAVEL, FIRMLY APPLIED THE BRAKES, CAR WAS PULLED TO THE RIGHT, WENT OFF THE ROAD AND CONTINUED TO TRAVEL PARALLEL UNTIL I STRUCK A GRAVEL ENTRY DRIVEWAY TO A FIELD WITH THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND THEN FLIPPED END OVER END 3 TIMES ACCORDING TO WITNESS FINALLY RESTING ON ITS TOP. UPON LOOKING AT THE SCENE, THERE WAS ONE (1)BLACK SKID MARK. THE HIGHWAY WAS DRY, THERE WAS A VERY SLIGHT INCLINE IN THE ROAD AND IT WAS A STRAIGHT STRETCH. THE WEATHER WAS OVERCAST. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE MY COMPLAINT AND INSISTED THAT I SWERVED. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY "CHECKED THE BRAKES" ON THE TOTALLED CAR AND THE HEADLIGHT OPERATION. I HAD CALLED THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAD GONE WRONG. IN THEIR REPORT THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES OR HEADLIGHTS. I HAD REPORTED THAT PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD GO ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT THE SAME LOCATION (AN AREA WHERE MY CELL PHONE COVERAGE WOULD GO OUT). THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED NEAR AN AIRPORT WHICH WAS ANOTHER AREA WHERE MY CELL PHONE COVERAGE WOULD GO OUT. SINCE I HAD FRACTURED MY STERNUM AND HAD THE DISCOLORED IMPRINT OF THE TURN SIGNAL ON MY CHEST, I THOUGHT THAT THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED ON FIRST IMPACT. I QUESTIONED THE BRAKES AND ELECTRONIC/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THEIR REPORT IS DATED 11/11/2008 AND DOES NOT INDICATE A FILE OR COMPLAINT NUMBER.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. IN OCTOBER OF 2008 WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UP TO 80 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. HE COLLIDED INTO A TREE AND THE DRIVER FRONTAL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION, OR THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THERE ARE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES WHICH COMPELS ME TO WRITE THIS COMPLAIN FORM. IT IS ABOUT A 2007 COROLLA WHICH I OWN. I WAS EXPERIENCING ACCELERATION PROBLEM ABOUT THIS CAR. TO PUT IT MORE PRECISELY THE CAR HAS A TENDENCY TO ACCELERATE AT DIFFERENT RATE. I AM SURE IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF CHANGING SHIFTS BECAUSE I ALSO HAVE ANOTHER COROLLA OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL. AT FIRST WHEN I START THE CAR AND SHIFT TO DRIVE MORE THE CAR HAS A TENDENCY TO JUMP WHICH IS MORE LIKE WHEN YOU CHANGE A MOTORCYCLE GEAR WITHOUT CLUTCHING. AND WHILE I ACCELERATE, SOMETIMES THE GAS PEDAL JUST GOES DOWN BUT THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. WHEN I EXPERIENCED THIS I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM OF THE CAR BUT IT IS HOW SOME COMPUTER CHIP IN THE CAR BEHAVES. THIS WAS IN 2008. IN 2009, I DOUBT GAINED STRENGTH WHEN I WAS TAKING MY COUSIN SISTER AND HER FRIEND TO MY COUSINS WEDDING. I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE LEVELED ROAD IN INTESTATE HIGHWAY AND THEY EVEN RAISED THE QUESTION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. STILL I EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. THOUGH I BELIEVE THAT ITS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM BECAUSE THE EXPERIENCE WHICH I HAVE WITH ONE CAR IS UNUSUAL COMPARED TO THE OTHER. *TR
