TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS CUT OFF BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT AND THREE PASSENGERS SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES TO THE HEAD, A CONCUSSION, A BROKEN PELVIS, AND BROKEN RIBS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS IMPOUNDED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
TAKATA RECALL: IN APRIL, 2016, I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD BE RECALLED FOR AN AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. FURTHERMORE, I WAS NOT TO ALLOW ANYONE TO USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THE REPLACEMENT WAS MADE. THIS IS A HARDSHIP. TOYOTA AND MY DEALER, GATORLAND TOYOTA IN GAINESVILLE, FL, AGREED TO LOAN ME A RENTAL CAR FREE OF CHARGE IF NEEDED DUE TO HARDSHIP. I HAVE USED A RENTAL CAR FROM GATORLAND TWICE NOW, BUT THIS IS INCONVENIENT. FURTHERMORE, MY VEHICLE IS NOT WORTH ITS FULL VALUE FOR RESALE WITHOUT THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. REPLACEMENT IS NOW SCHEDULED FOR MAY 2017, ACCORDING TO GATORLAND, BUT THIS DATE HAS BEEN MOVED BACK SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V006000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (PRESTON TOYOTA, 1500 WILMINGTON RD, NEW CASTLE, PA 16105, (724) 498-0132) DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL IT HAS BEEN A YEAR AND NO RESOLUTION FROM DEALERSHIP, NO ACTION TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE OR RECALL HAS BEEN TAKEN
MY 2009 COROLLA EXPERIENCED ISSUES IDENTICAL TO A PRIOR RECALL CIRCA 2010 FOR '05-'08 COROLLA & MATRIX MODELS REGARDING ENGINE CONTROL MODULES (ECM) THAT MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. ON 3/30/16, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED HARSH SHIFTING AND STRUGGLED FOR GAS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WITH OVER A 1/4 TANK OF GAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT THE TIME. ON 3/31/16, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSTICS WERE RUN AND ECM FAULT CODES WERE IDENTIFIED. SERVICE ASSOCIATES WORKING ON MY COROLLA ADDRESSED THEIR CONCERNS AND WERE REPEATEDLY DENIED REQUESTS FOR A REPLACEMENT ECM. AT ONE POINT, I WAS ADVISED BY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP STAFF TO PERSONALLY ORDER AN ECM UNIT THROUGH THE PARTS DEPT., INSISTING THAT THE REQUEST COMING DIRECTLY FROM A CUSTOMER WOULD NOT BE DENIED. I ATTEMPTED TO PLACE AN ORDER WITH PARTS, AND THAT REQUEST LATER WAS DENIED. AFTER SEVERAL RE-TESTS AND DENIED REQUESTS FOR A REPLACEMENT ECM, MY VEHICLE RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT TAIL LIGHT BULB (WHAT I REFER TO AS A "BAND-AID" FIX) AND WAS RELEASED BACK TO ME ON 4/5/16. THE VERY NEXT MORNING (4/6/16), CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN. ONCE AGAIN, CODES TIED TO THE ECM WERE IDENTIFIED. AFTER ANOTHER WEEK OF TESTS, DENIED ECM FIX REQUESTS, AND ANOTHER BAND-AID REPAIR, THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED BACK TO ME ON 4/14/16. DURING THIS TWO-WEEK ORDEAL, I INCURRED OVER $540 IN RENTAL CAR EXPENSES AND $186 IN "BAND-AID" REPAIRS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT ECM ISSUES WERE IDENTIFIED FROM THE BEGINNING. I HAVE OPENED 2 CASES WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER TO ADDRESS THIS ECM ISSUE WITH MY 2009 COROLLA, THE PRIOR 2010 RECALL, AND HAVE REQUESTED THAT MY VIN BE INCORPORATED INTO THE RECALL. SO FAR, TOYOTA HAS DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY, INSISTING THAT THEIR ECMS DON'T FAIL, OFFERING NO ASSISTANCE FOR ISSUES THEY DEEM OFF-WARRANTY/OFF-RECALL.
DURING A ROUTINE INSPECTION AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON 3-29-16, A CRACKED CV JOINT BOOT LEAKING GREASE WAS DISCOVERED (59K MILES) THIS IS THE 2ND OCCURRENCE FOR ME, THE 1ST ON MY 2010 COROLLA JUST A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. LOSS OF GREASE WILL EVENTUALLY RESULT IN FAILURE OF THE CV JOINT & DISCONNECTING FROM THE HUB ASSEMBLY RESULTING IN LOSS OF PROPULSION AND POSE A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. IT WOULD SEEM THAT SUCH A CRITICAL COMPONENT SHOULD NOT FAIL SO EARLY IN THE VEHICLE'S LIFESPAN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE WINDOWS FAILED TO FUNCTION. IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
TAKATA RECALL. WAS GIVEN A NOTICE LAST YEAR (MARCH 2016) AND THE FIX HAS STILL NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. DEALERS DO NOT HAVE PARTS AND ARE NOT COMPENSATING OWNERS IN ANY WAY. IT IS DIFFICULT TO NOT USE THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SEAT.
AT 54,000 MILES, 57,000 AND 59,000 MILES I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER AFTER EXPERIENCING OIL CONSUMPTION, ONE QUART EVERY 1,000 MILES OR SO. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL CONSUMPTION, EACH TIME, WHICH I STILL DIDN'T BELIEVE AND RETURNED TO COMPLAIN AS A MATTER OF RECORD. THE CAR HAS 74,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS AT THE TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER EXHIBITING A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE. NOW, BECAUSE THERE IS A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST CANNOT BE DONE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA CENTER THREE PREVIOUS TIMES AND NO OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS OFFERED ANY TIME I RAISED THE ISSUE. NOW TOYOTA SAYS THEY CAN'T PERFORM THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, AND SINCE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS A REQUIREMENT FOR AUTHORIZED REPAIR/REPLACEMENT TOYOTA WILL NOT HONOR THERE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION - ZE7 LETTER. HOW THIS HAPPENED, I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM CITY DRIVING AND WITHIN 1 MILE OF MY HOME AND I HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I STOPPED THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD TO INSPECT THE ENGINE AREA. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND NOTICED AN ENGINE NOISE. THE CAR WAS THEN PULLED TO THE DRIVEWAY AND HAULED TO THE SERVICE CENTER ON A FLATBED TOWING TRUCK. I AM NOW WAITING FOR THE TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER, WHO TOLD ME THE CAR CANNOT BE COVERED BY TOYOTA UNLESS I PAY A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COST. THIS IS AN ADMISSION OF THE PROBLEM (GUILT), AND IS NOT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LETTER I RECEIVED. THE LETTER CLEARLY STATES, CONDUCT AN ENGINE CONSUMPTION TEST TO BE CONSIDERED FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. HOW CAN THIS BE DONE, WHEN THE SERVICE CENTER FAILED TO SUBJECT THIS CAR TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION ON THREE OCCASIONS? I, ATTEMPTED ON THREE OCCASIONS TO OBTAIN SERVICE AND WAS DENIED, NOW I AM AT FAULT? IT IS MY OPINION TOYOTA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR/ REPLACEMENT, AS THERE WAS TIME TO CONDUCT THE TEST AND TIME TO AVERT THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE SRS WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V168000 (STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY). THE DEALER WAS CHARGING TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
SO ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE CAR ISN'T ON. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND STATED THE PROBLEM THAT I HAD AND THEY INSISTED THAT I HAD TO PAY, WHEN I GOT A LETTER FROM TOYOTA REMEDY NOTICE STATING THAT STYE CAN COVER FOR FIXING THE AIR BAG LIGHT. I HAVE THE LETTER WITH ME DIRECTLY FROM TOYOTA. SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT WHEN I GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS ABSOLUTELY MAKES NO SENSE AND I FEEL LIKE THEY ARE PURPOSELY TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF ME. WHEN I HAVE A LETTER FROM TOYOTA STATING THEY CAN PAY FOR THE DAMAGE.
LETTER FROM SENATOR BOOZMAN ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT REGARDING HIS 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD WANDER, EVEN AFTER HAVING THE TIRES AND TWO WHEELS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED HE DEALT WITH THE STEERING ISSUE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. EVENTUALLY, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CLAIM FORM IN THE MAIL FROM TOYOTA STATED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING. *JB
CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR OIL CHANGE AT MILEAGE DUE AND TOYOTA DEALERSHIP STATED OIL DIPSTICK WAS TOTALLY DRY AND TO CHECK IT AT HALFWAY MARK OF MILES. CAR IS NOT DUE YET FOR OIL CHANGE UNTIL ABOUT 95,000 MILES AND AT HALFWAY MARK OIL WAS ALREADY DOWN TO LAST MARK ON DIPSTICK. CAR WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA AND THEY STATED 2009 COROLLA WAS NOT PART OF LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN OF OTHER VEHICLES EXHIBITING SAME PROBLEMS AS MY CAR. DEALER SAID TO JUST ADD OIL IN BETWEEN CHANGES AND I EXPLAINED THAT CAR SHOULD NOT BE CONSUMING OIL AT THIS STAGE AND THEY AGREED BUT STATED I WOULD HAVE TO COVER REPAIRS WHICH MIGHT COST BETWEEN $2,000-3,000 BECAUSE OF CAR NOT BEING PART OF CAMPAIGN WITH OTHER MAKES WHICH WERE ALSO HAVING SAME PROBLEM WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AT AROUND SAME MILEAGE. I STARTED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST SO THAT IT WOULD BE ON RECORD. IF OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM, 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AS IT WAS INCLUDED FOR MOST OF THE OTHER RECALLS AND CAMPAIGNS. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND SEEN MANY OTHERS WITH SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR WITH SAME COMPLAINTS AND DEALER DOES NOTHING TO FIX PROBLEM.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR STARTED SMOKING AND EVENTUALLY BURST INTO FLAMES. FIRE RESCUE WAS CALLED BUT WE MANAGED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH WATER BEFORE THEY ARRIVED. THIS HAPPENED ON 2/19/16 AND TO DATE TOYOTA IS YET TO SEND SOMEONE TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. I AM AT MY WITS END WITH TOYOTA.

THIS CAR IS MY MOTHERS CAR. SHE IS UNABLE TO DRIVE. MY SISTER MOVED HERE TO CARE FOR HER. SHE HAS STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER. MY SISTER DRIVES HER TO ALL HER APPOINTMENTS FOR CHEMO, TESTS, ETC. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE MY MOTHER CAN GET INTO. THIS IS CAUSING A SERIOUS ISSUE IN TRANSPORTING HER. SO FAR WE ARE BING TOLD THERE IS NO FIX TO THE AIRBAG SITUATION. YOUR RECALL # 17V006. MAN RECALL # G1R. WE UNDERSTAND THE TIME IT TAKES TO GET A SOLUTION BUT SHE RECEIVED THE RECALL OVER A YEAR AGO AND STILL SHES SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT. MY SISTER HAS TO MAKE THE CHOICE OF SITTING MY ELDERLY MOTHER OR ONE OF HER CHILDREN IN FRONT OF THAT AIRBAG OR PAY A BABYSITTER. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO EITHER MY SISTER OR MOTHER UNDER THE UNDUE EXPENSES OF MY MOTHERS ILLNESS.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V340000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IN MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA BECOMES NOTICEABLY LOOSE AND WILL DRIFT TO ONE SIDE WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICE THE STEERING WHEEL BECOME LESS RESPONSIVE AFTER PULLING INTO/OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, OVER TRAIN TRACKS, POTHOLE, ANYTHING THAT PROVIDES SHOCK TO THE VEHICLE WITH THROW OFF THE STEERING CONTROL, BUT IT COULD BE A FLAT STRAIGHT ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WILL DRIFT. THE STEERING CONTROL IS SO LOOSE THAT ONE MUST CONSTANTLY BE ADJUSTING THE STEERING WHEEL TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM DRIFTING. I HAD MY ALIGNMENT ADJUSTED 3 TIMES OVER THE PAST 3 WEEKS THINKING SOMETHING MAY BE WRONG WITH IT, BUT THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT ALIGNMENT WAS WITHIN SPEC. I PURCHASED NEW TIRES (AND BALANCED TIRES) AND THE DRIFTING STILL OCCURS. FOUND THIS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB-0140-10 AND IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME DRIFT LIKE CROSSWIND PUSHING THE VEHICLE. I CALLED A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE TO A SERVICE TECHNICIAN WHO STATED THAT THE AUTHORIZED SOLUTIONS WAS TO REPLACE THE ECU WITH A DIFFERENT ECU PART NUMBER, CALIBRATE STEERING WHEEL CENTERING AND AGAIN ALIGN THE WHEELS FOR THE NEW ECU. IF THEY GIVE REPLACE IT WITH A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER WHY ISN'T THIS A SAFETY RECALL, SINCE THEY ARE NOT REPLACING IT WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART NUMBER? SOMEONE AT TOYOTA IS CLEARLY AWARE THAT THE OLD PART NUMBER IS NO GOOD. IF THE VEHICLE STEERING GOES OUT EVEN SLIGHTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, WHY IS THAT NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY RECALL? NO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE CAN PREVENT THIS, ONLY A TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER CAN REPAIR THIS. THIS WOULD ONLY BE COVERED BY TOYOTA WARRANTY IF THE ISSUE WAS REPORTED WITHIN 36 MONTHS OR 36000 MILES, EVEN THOUGH A SETTLEMENT WAS REACHED WITH TOYOTA IN JULY 2015 THAT CLOSED THE ISSUE WITH THE NHTSA. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME AN OUT OF POCKET REPAIR COST OF $1200, FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY KNOW IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING CONTROL.
TAKATA RECALL - IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE I RECEIVED A NOTICE ON A RECALL TO HAVE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED. I HAVE GONE TO A DEALER A COUPLE OF TIMES TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED HOWEVER, TOYOTA HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, SEVERAL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IDLED AND DROVE POORLY. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WIRE INSULATION MATERIAL WAS MADE OUT OF A SOY-BASED MATERIAL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT CRITICAL FUNCTIONS COULD HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEL TOYOTA (2945 E LINCOLN HWY, THORNDALE, PA 19372, (610) 383-6200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT RODENTS CHEWED THROUGH THE TRANSMISSION WIRING HARNESS. ADDITIONALLY, RODENTS ALSO CHEWED THROUGH THE TURN SIGNAL WIRING HARNESS FOR THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. I SINCE CONTINUED CHECKING AND TOPING THE ENGINE OIL UNTIL DECEMBER WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO STALL WHEN I STOPPED AT A LIGHT. IT WOULD TRY TO IDLE AROUND 500-600 RPM BUT COULDNT AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD BRING IT UP TO 800 RPM. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND TURNED OUT MY PISTON RINGS ARE THE PROBLEM. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH IN MY TOYOTA COROLLA AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS DEAD AND WOULD NO LONGER GO. ONCE IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERS THEY DETERMINED THAT THE WATER PUMP AND STOPPED WORKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
RECENTLY NOTICED THE NOISE COMES FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT AFTER START AND DURING DRIVING. DURING 5K MAINTENANCE SERVICE, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN GENTALLY UNDER NORMAL CONDITION AT LESS THAN 55000 MILE AND 6.5 YEARS. THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY THE 10-YEAR POWERTRAN WARRANTY COMES WITH THE PURCHASE. HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR.
MY ECM CONSTANTLY HAVE ISSUES WITH STABILIZING THE VEHICLE ON A DAILY OCCURRENCE. WHEN IT WORKS AS IT SHOULD THE CAR FEELS STABLE LIKE IT HAS ADDED WEIGHT AND THE STEERING IS RESPONSIVE. THE ECM IN THE LATE 2000S ALL HAVE ECM PROBLEMS WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE BRAKING, TRANSMISSION AND STEERING ARE ALL AFFECTED IN SOME ADVERSE WAY. THE VEHICLE HAD A O2 SENSOR REPLACED AND IT STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUES, ALTERNATOR ALSO REPLACED. I BELIEVE TOYOTA KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH ITS TOYOTAS AND DECIDED NOT TO ISSUE A RECALL IN ORDER TO SAVE MONEY. IVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE SINCE A MONTH AFTER I GOT MY CAR 4 OR 5 MONTHS AFTER I GOT MY CAR. THE CODE P0607 ALONG WITH THE P0138 ARE CONSTANTLY GOING OFF IN MY VEHICLE. SOMETIMES THE P0138 WILL GO AWAY BUT THE SYMPTOMS OF A BAD ECM STILL REMAIN. THE CAR SHAKES, DOESN'T STALL YET, FEELS SLUGGISH AND HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT AT ALMOST ANY SPEED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING AN UNRELATED RECALL REPAIR, THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,799. MA 10/22/2015 *CN
DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR PLASTIC HOLDING SNAPPED THAT KEEPS MIRROR IN THE OPEN/ CLOSED POSITION. DUE TO THE PLASTIC HOLDING BEING SNAPPED, THE MIRROR WOBBLES AND DOES NOT STAY IN THE OPEN POSITION. IT MAKES DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS WITH THE LACK OF A MIRROR TO TURN AND MERGE SAFELY. AS SPEEDS INCREASE, THE FORCE OF THE WIND WILL FORCE THE MIRROR INTO THE CLOSED POSITION MAKING THE MIRROR USELESS.
