TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 5 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF A PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. UPDATED 03/22/12 *BF THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA - JAPANESE BUILT ABS/BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS AT APPROXIMATELY 31,000 MILES. 1. DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER INDICATES TROUBLE CODES C0210 (SPEED SENSOR FAILURE) AND C1238 (PLUG TO RIGHT REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY). PLUG TO ABS SENSOR AND TERMINAL REPAIR KIT WORK AT 32, 126 MILES. 2. 2ND DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER READING INDICATES "INACTIVITY WITH LEFT REAR ABS SENSOR". ABS/BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS AGAIN . IN ADDITION, LIGHTS ARE NOW ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT LOUD NOISES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION THOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL, MOMENTARY PARTIAL BRAKE FAILURE. 3. RETURN FOR 3RD INSPECTION OF BOTH LEFT/RIGHT REAR WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES. MECHANICS AGAIN REINSPECT, CLEAN AND APPLY ELECTRIC GREASE TO BOTH REAR ABS SENSORS AND ROAD TEST THE VEHICLE. SAME ISSUES REAPPEAR AFTER ONLY FEW MILES OF 3RD REPAIR. MECHANICS NOW DETERMINE THERE IS TOO MUCH CORROSION IN THE RIGHT REAR ABS SPEED SENSOR CONNECTION IN THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY FOR THE ABS SPEED SENSOR PLUG TO CONNECT SECURELY AND THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE PART AT $372-$443 RETAIL PLUS LABOR FOR EITHER JAPANESE/NORTH AMERICAN BUILT COROLLAS. THE ACCOMPANYING LOUD NOISE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE THE SEPARATE BUT ASSOCIATED ABS MODULE WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE DEFECTIVE ABS SPEED SENSOR/REAR WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY IN THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL CAUSES INCORRECT READINGS BY THE ABS MODULE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, INCORRECTLY ASSUMING THERE IS WHEEL SLIPPAGE AT CERTAIN WHEELS AND "CAUSING THE ABS MODULE TO GO HAYWIRE" IN ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT WHAT IT THINKS IS WHEEL SLIPPAGE. A HIT ON DRIVERS DOOR INVOLVING A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA IN WHICH THE SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY RESULTING IN A SHOULDER INJURY TO DRIVER. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE WHEN VEHICLE DRIFTED FROM RIGHT LANE TO LEFT LANE, UNABLE TO CONTROL - THIS DISCONTINUED, APPX 4 - 5 MILES LATER THE VEHICLE DRIFTED FROM RIGHT LANE TO LEFT LANE & HIT SHOULDER. WHEN BRAKE VEHICLE WENT INTO SPIN & ENDED UP CROSSING LEFT & RIGHT LANES, ENDING ON INTERSTATE ROADSIDE @ TREE LINE. DAMAGE TO FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE - I AM SORE ON LEFT SIDE (SHOULDER, LOWER BACK & LEFT KNEE - ALSO HAVE PAIN ACROSS STOMACH I GUESS FROM SEATBELT ENGAGING. THIS WAS TERRIFYING, AND I AM ALSO AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON THURSDAY AM, FIRST CHANCE TO RESEARCH FRIDAY NIGHT, I WAS APPALLED TO LEARN THAT WHILE TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE NEVER RECEIVED FIRST COMMUNICATION REGARDING POSSIBLE DANGER. MY 2009 COROLLA WAS RAMMED IN REAR AND WAS PUSHED INTO CAR IN FRONT OF IT. CAR TOTALED AND NOT ONE OF 8 SAFETY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. AS A PASSENGER, IF I WERE NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT, I WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. MY SON AND I WERE TAKEN TO LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR BACK AND NECK PAIN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY NOT ONE OF THESE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I HAVE READ ON MANY WEBSITES THAT THIS IS A MAJOR COMPLAINT ON TOYOTA VEHICLES. BOUGHT USED 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA (5 SPEED MANUAL CLUTCH) VEHICLE IN MID 2011. NOTICED THAT THE GAS PEDAL, BRAKE AND CLUTCH ARE ODDLY VERY CLOSE, AND GAS PEDAL SEEMS TO STICK, WHICH SEEMS TO CAUSE ERROR IN SHIFTING/ ACCELERATION/ DE-ACCELERATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN USING IN BETWEEN GEARS. NOT SURE WHAT THAT IS ALL ABOUT, OR WHETHER OR NOT THERE HAS BEEN A PRIOR COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS OR RECALL, BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION AND FIXED BY TOYOTA FOR SAFETY REASONS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ADDING A NEW BULB TO THE HEADLIGHTS FOR THE LOW BEAMS, THE BULBS WOULD ONLY LAST FOR TWO MONTHS BEFORE FAILING. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER OR MECHANIC. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
WELL, THERE WAS A VERY LOUD RATTLE NOISE WHEN STARTING ENGINE (COLD ENGINE) I TOOK CAR TO PUENTE HILLS, CA TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AS THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A CAMSHAFT GEAR ASSEMBLY KNOWN ISSUE IN THE TOYOTAS 2009. THEY CHARGED ME ABOUT $179.00 FOR LABOR AS THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND GOES AWAY ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT CONTINUES AFTER ALL. I JUST TOOK CAR BACK TO SAME DEALER, AS THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WILL COST ABOUT $872.15 TO FIX PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE'S A RECALL OR ANY OTHER LEGAL REMEDIES I COULD TAKE IN THIS MATTER. *TR
WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, IT STALLED AND HAS DONE SO ON SEVERAL MORE OCCASIONS SINCE. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM ON THE FREEWAY WHEN I WAS GOING ABOUT 65 MPH AND IT PULLED BACK LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STOP BUT THEN FINALLY WENT BACK UP TO SPEED. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR ON 8/31/11 FROM A CAR DEALER. I WENT ON THE TOYOTA OWNERS WEBSITE TO REGISTER THE NEXT DAY AND NOTICED THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD A STALLING PROBLEM AS WELL AND HAD IT LOOKED AT AND NOTHING WAS FOUND. *TR
WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED ON, IT HAS A FOUL ORDER, PARTICULARLY IN SUMMER, WHEN THE WINDOWS HAVE BEEN ROLLED UP. IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. WE DO NOT USE THE RECIRCULATION BUTTON, AS THE FRESH AIR SEEMS LIKE A BETTER IDEA SINCE THE VENTILATION SYSTEM ALREADY SMELLS FOUL. THE SMELL UPSETS MY STOMACH. WE HAVE TRIED REPLACING THE CABIN FILTER, AND THAT DID NOT HELP. WE HAVE ALSO USED PRODUCTS LIKE FEBREEZE ALL OVER THE CAR, BUT THAT IS ONLY A TEMPORARY HELP. *JS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE IN THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN TO MOVE FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED AN ALIGNMENT HAD BEEN PERFORMED TWICE BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
I NOTICED WHILE WASHING THE VEHICLE THAT ALL 4 WHEELS ARE HAVE RUSTING AREAS ON THEM. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 2 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED IT AT BOCH TOYOTA IN NORWOOD MA. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAW THE ISSUE AND TOLD ME THAT HE HAD TO TALK TO HIS TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THE ISSUE. A WEEK LATER, I CALLED BACK AND THEY SAID THAT TOYOTA DOESN'T BELIEVE THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE MATERIALS. THAT IT IS CAUSED BECAUSE OF THE AREA IN WHICH I LIVE IN THE NORTHEAST. UPON VISITING A DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY ALL HAVE RUSTING ISSUES ON THE SAME YEAR VEHICLES. AS YEARS PAST I BELIEVE IT WILL BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE ! THE WARRANTY IS OVER IN LESS THAN 3,000 MILES. PLEASE HELP.
2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER STATES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON WITH CODE #P2757 TRANSMISSION TCC SOLENOID OFF *TGW
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2009 COROLLA SINCE I PURCHASED IT. SEVERAL OF THE RECALLED SAFETY ITEMS OCCURRED BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN RECALLED BY TOYOTA. I'M STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM TOYOTA (MORE THAN 2 MONTHS HAVE PASSED) CONCERNING RESULTS FROM THE BLACKBOX FOR AN ACCELERATION INCIDENT. DURING 7/2011, I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR IN BECAUSE THE SRS AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO BE DISPLAYED AND THE DEALER CHECKED IT AND SAID IT WOULD COST AN INITIAL $250 JUST TO TRY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THEN PAY FOR ANY PARTS (COULD BE UP TO $1,200). THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT WHILE THIS LIGHT IS ON, THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THIS SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT TOYOTA WOULD WANT TO CORRECT FOR THE CUSTOMER, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR ALREADY. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. *KB
THE STEERING IS TERRIBLE. EVERY TIME I GET ONTO THE HIGHWAY, I HAVE TO HOLD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD WITH BOTH HANDS TO FEEL SAFE. I AM ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT HITTING THE CAR NEXT TO. THE CAR SWERVES CONSTANTLY, AND IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT A RELATIVELY NEW CAR SUCH AS THIS CAN NOT STAY STRAIGHT ON THE ROAD. IT FEELS AS IF IT WERE EXTREMELY WINDY OUTSIDE MAKING THE CAR SHAKE LEFT AND RIGHT. I HAVE ALWAYS TRUSTED TOYOTA AND THOUGHT THAT THEY SOLD NOTHING BUT THE BEST. I HAVE LOST THE JOY AND EXCITEMENT IN DRIVING. PLEASE CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE. BLIND SPOTS ARE ALSO A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE I HAVE FOUND. ALSO, THERE IS AN EXTREMELY ANNOYING RATTLE INSIDE THE CAR. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE CEILING, AND FROM THE REAR WINDSHIELD. IT IS NOTICEABLE AT ALL SPEEDS. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT A BOLT WAS LOOSE AND CAUSED THE PANEL TO DETACH. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY DEPLOY WITHOUT BEING INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,902 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,233. BAD SMELL (LIKE PEE) AT THE BEGINNING WHEN THE FAN IS TURNED ON. NOTHING IS CHANGED AFTER THE CABINET AIR FILTER IS REPLACED. *JS
ON JUNE 6TH 2011 I BROUGHT MY 2009 COROLLA TO THE TOYOTA DEALER, I LOST COMPLETE POWER OF THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING, AC AND POWER WINDOWS, AFTER INSPECTION THEY SUGGEST I REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AT $965 CHARGE, I DECLINED THE REPAIR, I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND DROVE THE CAR HOME I STILL HAVE NOT FIXED IT, I REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND THAT DID NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM EITHER, THE TOYOTA DEALER ALSO SUGGESTED TO CHANGE THE WATER PUMP THEY SAY THEY CHANGE IT BUT I STILL SEE THE OLD SOME WHAT DIRTY OLD WATER PUMP. *TR
I OWN A 2009 COROLLA WHICH I BOUGHT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2008. AROUND JUNE 1ST I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY STEERING WHEEL. WHILE MAKING A SHARP TURN I HEARD A LOUD POP. AFTER THAT MY STEERING WHEEL DID NOT FEEL RIGHT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. WHEN I PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY WHEELS STRAIGHT I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL WAS UPSIDE DOWN. THE NEXT MORNING IT WAS FINE. 2 WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW ANYTHING WRONG AND IF THE STEERING WHEEL HAD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ERROR MESSAGE ON THE COMPUTER. I HAD SHOWN THEM PICTURES PROVING THAT IT HAPPENED. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR ON INTERSTATES NOW BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THE STEERING WILL GO OUT COMPLETELY AND CAUSE ME TO WRECK. I KNOW TOYOTA HAS HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT STEERING PROBLEMS IN THE 2009 COROLLA. I JUST WANT TO KNOW THAT MY CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND APPARENTLY NO ONE CAN TELL ME THAT. *TR
I WAS CURRENTLY ON 1 AND 9 NORTH OF JERSEY CITY NJ. I WAS ON A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN, THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE AS MUCH AS IT WAS SUPPOSE TO WHEN YOU PRESS ON GAS PEDAL. IT WAS LITERALLY MOVING 5 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL FOR THE CAR TO GO BUT IT WAS STILL NOT EVEN MOVING UP. I TURNED ON THE HAZARDS AND PULLED OVER. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE CAR FIRST. I CHECKED THE GAS TANK AND THE ENGINE BUT I COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS LIT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. I BROUGHT IT TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT 100% SURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT BUT THEY DISCONNECTED THE ALARM WIRE TO SEE IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND PROBLEM OF THIS CAR IS WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE, IT STILL MOVES A LITTLE BIT. WHEN YOU START GOING AND PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL, YOU HAVE TO PRESS ON IT HARDER FOR IT TO GO BUT IT GASES UP THAN IT NORMALLY DOES. I HAVE RECENTLY SAW THE PREVIOUS OWNERS RECEIPTS FOR ITS CAR SERVICE AND HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. HE ALWAYS HAD TO FIX THE ACCELERATOR BUT UNTIL NOW, IT IS STILL THE SAME AND STILL NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND WHERE TO GO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
WE HAVE USED OUR SUNSHINE KIDS RADIAN 80SL CARSEAT SINCE DECEMBER. IT WAS POINTED OUT TO ME THAT OUR SUPERLATCH SYSTEM MAY BE DEFECTIVE. I WENT AND LOOKED AT OUR SEAT AND SURE ENOUGH OUR CARSEAT HAS A SUPERLATCH ISSUE. THE TIGHTENING BELT ON THE SUPERLATCH CAN BE LOOSENED AT THE PRESS OF MY PINKY. DRIVING NORTH ON AN URBAN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH THE CAR EXPERIENCED RANDOM MOVEMENT SIMILAR TO A STRONG CROSSWIND OR LOW TIRE PRESSURE. TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS DID INDICATE LOW PRESSURE AND NEXT MORNING TIRE PRESSURE WAS CHECKED WITH A GAUGE AND WERE AT THE RECOMMENDED PRESSURE. THERE WAS A MODERATE TO STRONG WIND FROM THE WEST BUT THE CAR MOVEMENT EVEN OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING IN A DEPRESSED ROADWAY WITH NO OBSERVABLE WIND. MY WIFE MENTIONED THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO HER RECENTLY. AFTER A FEW MILES THE CAR RETURNED TO NORMAL. LATER THAT EVENING WHEN GOING SOUTH, THIS SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED ON AND OFF OVER A 20 + MILE PERIOD. AN HOUR OR SO LATER, WHEN DRIVING EAST ON A RURAL INTERSTATE THE MOTION BEGAN AGAIN WITH THE WIND BEHIND US. AT ALL TIMES WHEN DROPPING THE SPEED TP BELOW 50 MPH THE PROBLEM CEASED. ON MAY 2, MY WIFE STATED THAT THIS SQUIRRELLY PROBLEM RECURRED DRIVING SOUTH ON A SUBURBAN INTERSTATE. TIRE SENSORS INDICATED NO TIRE PRESSURE ISSUE. LIGHT WIND FROM THE EAST. THERE HAS BEEN VERY LITTLE FREEWAY DRIVING SINCE MARCH. AFTER DISCUSSING THIS OCCURRENCE, I RECALLED ANOTHER COROLLA OWNER MENTIONING A STEERING PROBLEM. I WENT ONLINE A FOUND NUMEROUS DESCRIPTIONS OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS. *TR
THIS MORNING WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY OUR 2009 COROLLA SEEMED TO JERK ITSELF OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC, STARTED SPINNING, HIT THE GUARD RAIL WITH THE RIGHT REAR TAIL SECTION. THE CAR ESSENTIALLY BOUNCED OFF THE RAIL, CONTINUED TO SPIN ACROSS THE LANES OF TRAFFIC AND BACK, COMING TO A REST BACK ON THE SAME SIDE I HIT THE GUARD RAIL. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT NO OTHER CARS MANAGED TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS DONE THIS TO A LESSER DEGREE ON A FEW OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS (CAR WAS PURCHASED USED, FROM A DEALER, 3/13/2010) WHICH WE THOUGHT MIGHT BE DUE TO HYDROPLANING (WE'RE IN SEATTLE WHERE THE ROADS ARE OFTEN WET BUT WE'VE DRIVEN HERE FOR 35 YEARS WITH NOTHING LIKE THIS FEELING IN ANY OTHER CAR) OR A NEED FOR NEW TIRES BUT THIS WAS CLEARLY NOT THE ONLY ISSUE. ON THOSE OCCASIONS IT ALSO FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS SUDDENLY FLOATING AND THE STEERING JERKED IT TO THE LEFT (BUT I WAS NOT GOING THROUGH A DEEP PUDDLE/HYDROPLANING). IT WAS MOMENTARY BUT ENOUGH TO SCARE ME AND MAKE ME WONDER WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. IT WAS RAINING THIS MORNING AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT BUT SOMETHING ELSE CAUSED THE CAR TO JERK ITSELF OUT OF THE LANE AND LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE BODY SHOP AWAITING AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR. THE TOYOTA DEALER DIDN'T WANT TO LOOK AT IT DESPITE MY DESCRIPTION. I'M LEFT TRAUMATIZED, WITH LIKELY WHIPLASH AND A WRECKED CAR. ELECTRIC POWER STEERING OVER CORRECTS. DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS. FIRST TIME I HAD TO REPORT A LIFE THREATENING INCIDENT. AS I WAS BRAKING FOR A RED LIGHT AND JUST BEFORE I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, MY 2009 COROLLA (DRIVEN ONLY 6,700 MILES) SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I HAD TO PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE WITH ALL MY FORCE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM SURGING INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF US, WITH THE MOTOR RACING AS FAST AS I HAVE EVER HEARD IT. THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AFTER GETTING THE DATA OUT OF MY VEHICLE.
THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ALLOY WHEELS ON MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA ARE SHOWING SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE CORROSION. THE FINISH ON THE WHEELS IS BUBBLING AND CHIPPING AWAY. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SAYS THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY ROAD SALT AND BRAKE DUST, THEREFORE NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S CORROSION WARRANTY. AS SOON AS A SHORT BREAK IN THE WIND HAPPENED THOUGH THE CAR WOULD THEN SHOOT OVER THE LINE TO THE RIGHT (WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS POINTED TO COUNTERACT THE FORCE OF THE WIND PUSHING THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT). ALTHOUGH ON CALM DAYS IT IS SOMETIMES ONLY AN ANNOYANCE, ON WINDY DAYS (EVEN IN LIGHT WINDS) IT CAN BECOME EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AT 70MPH. I HAVE OWNED MANY DIFFERENT VEHICLES OVER MY YEARS, AND THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST HANDLING CAR ON A HIGHWAY THAT I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. *TR

SHE RECEIVES A CALL BACK FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHO INFORMED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. . THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000. WHILE DRIVING TO GET ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY, THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED. WHEN I GOT UP TO SPEED, IT DOWNSHIFTED WITH A HEAVY JOLT AND A BANG, THE DEALER TOLD ME THE PROBLEM HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THE SMALL MOTOR TRYING TO CATCH UP TO THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS HAPPENS REGULARLY. ON A TRIP TO THE BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS, I COULDN'T SEE HOW FAST THE CAR WOULD GO. AT 95 MPH THE TRANSMISSION SLAMMED BACK AND FOURTH IN AND OUT OF GEAR. THE CAR DEALER CHECKED MY CAR AND ONE OF THEIRS. THEY BOTH DID EXACTLY WHAT I SAID. THEY SAID THEY SUSPECTED A DESIGN FLAW, BUT THE CAR WASN'T DANGEROUS. UPDATED 02/14/11 *BF

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RIGHT SIDE HUB, BEARING ASSEMBLY AND SKID CONTROL WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED BY THE DEALER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,583 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,322.
ON JANUARY12, 2011 AT 3:45PM MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SCHOOL AND UP THE DRIVEWAY TO PARK. HER 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA WOULD NOT STOP AND IT DROVE THROUGH A FLOWER BED AND INTO OUR HOME. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS A VOLUNTARY RECALL AND IT WOULD BE LEFT UP TO THE DEALER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS VERY UNSAFE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER BEFORE SOMEONE WAS INJURED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,855.

I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE FREEWAY AT A NORMAL SPEED OF ABOUT 55-65MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR START SWERVING RIGHT AND LEFT, AND I HAVE NO WAY OF STOPPING THE CAR BUT TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT SO IT WOULD HIT THE DIVIDING WALL OF THE FREEWAY TO STOP IT MOVING. *TR
I DRIVE A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA S. STARTING TODAY I REFUELED MY CAR AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO MOVE. I TRIED RESTARTING IT THREE TIMES BEFORE THE STEERING WAS BACK TO THE WAY IT NORMALLY TURNS. LATER THAT DAY I STARTED MY CAR AGAIN AND HEARD A BUZZING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE POWER STEERING WENT AWAY AGAIN. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND POWER STEERING WAS BACK. AGAIN THAT DAY I STARTED MY CAR AND PROCEEDED TO BACK UP WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT AND THE WHEEL LOCKED UP TURNING LEFT AS I WAS BACKING UP. I ALMOST HIT A WALL IN A PARKING GARAGE AND HAD TO RESTART MY CAR UNTIL POWER STEERING WAS REGAINED. I MADE IT BACK TO MY OFFICE AND WILL DRIVE MY CAR STRAIGHT TO THE SELLING DEALERSHIP AFTER WORK. *TR
