CAR MOVING FORWARD AS I LET UP ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT ALSO JERKS WHEN I QUICKLY REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE PEDAL FOR A FEW SECONDS AND BEFORE I PLACE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE ALTIMETER GOES UP AND DOWN SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I DO THIS AS IF IT IS STALLING OUT. IT HAS DONE THIS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND I HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG ACCORDING TO THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE SO I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA BOUGHT IN JUNE 2009. I REPORTED TO DEALER ABOUT CAR NOT ACCELERATING WELL , ROAD NOISE AND CAR ENGINE NOISE HEARD INSIDE THE CAR . ALSO CAR IS HARD TO CONTROL DURING CROSS WINDS ON BRIDGE ABOVE WATER. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME BUYING NEW VEHICLE OF SAME MODEL AND MAKE. I BOUGHT MY FIRST COROLLA S IN 2003. THIS IS NOT THE VEHICLE I USED TO DRIVE. I HAVE THE DEALER INVOICE FROM JULY 2009 STATES NORMAL ACCELERATION FOUND IN ALL CONDITIONS. THIS CAR WAS TESTED BY ONE OF THEIR MECHANICS. *TR
PLEASE I NEED SOMEBODY TO HELP ME WITH MY CASE WITH TOYOTA. I HAD AN ACCIDENT BACK TO JULY IN MY TOYOTA COROLLA 2009. I HIT SOMEONE HOUSE WITH MY TOYOTA BECAUSE (ACCELERATOR AND PEDAL WERE STUCK AND I LOST THE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG NOT ONLY I'M A WOMAN AND I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT "MECHANIC, PEDAL ... ETC. WHEN POLICE CAME I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO THEM WHAT CAUSE THE ACCIDENT THEY TOLD ME THAT IF I DON'T STOP LYING I CAN END UP TO JAIL. SO THE HOUSE OWNER SUED ME I WENT TO A LOT OF PROCEDURE OF LAWSUIT. I NEVER KNEW THAT COULD HAPPENED TO ME. THREE DAYS AFTER COURT, I RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER FROM TOYOTA. I DROVE MY CAR TO TOYOTA I FOUND OUT MY CAR HAS 2 RECALLS ( ACCELERATOR AND PEDAL). PLEASE HELP ME. AT LEAST TOYOTA CAN PAY THE WOMAN THAT SUED ME AND MY MEDICAL EXPENSES. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA THAT IS PART OF THE GAS PEDAL RECALL. I BELIEVE IT MAY ALSO HAVE THE STEERING ISSUE AS WELL. I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY STEERING IS ALL OVER THE PLACE, IT TAKES 2 HANDS TO GENERALLY RUN SMOOTHLY. MY HUSBAND COMPLAINS ABOUT IT MORE, I JUST LOVE MY CAR SO I DEFENDED IT BUT NOW THAT I HAVE HEARD THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM, I THINK IT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT ALITTLE CLOSER. MY OTHER ISSUE IS THAT WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK IN JAUNARY IN REGARDS TO THE GAS PEDAL THEY VERY NICELY INFORMED US THAT THEY WERE REPAIRING THE MORE EXPENSIVE VEHICLES FIRST AND THEN WOULD SCHEDULE ME AN APPOINTMENT. IS THAT ALLOWED? NO OFFENSE, BUT MY LIFE IS JUST AS VALUABLE AS A CAMRY, 4 RUNNER, OR OTHER VEHICLE THAT THEY CONSIDER MORE EXPENSIVE. I WANTED A TOYOTA COROLLA SO BAD AND NOW I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO GET RID OF IT. *TR
ABOUT THREE MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT MY 2009 COROLLA I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WASN'T ACTING RIGHT DURING HIGH SPEEDS ON THE INTERSTATE, HEAVY WIND, AND RAIN. IT PULLS TO THE SIDE SOMETIMES AND THEN OTHER TIMES FEELS LIKE I HAVE NO CONTROL, IN THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS IT'S STARTED TO MAKE NOISE WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL. I'VE BEEN TRYING FOR OVER A YEAR TO GET THIS SETTLED WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING AND WON'T EVEN DO A SERVICE REPORT AT ALL, SAYING THAT IT'S FINE. I WAS EVEN IN AN ACCIDENT THAT INVOLVED SEVERAL OTHER CARS, BUT THE SEVERE DAMAGE COULD'VE BEEN PREVENTED IF MY STEERING HADN'T OF MESSED UP ON ME. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OTHER INCIDENCES WHERE MY CAR'S VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND ALMOST VEERED INTO ANOTHER CAR, I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT BE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS THOSE TIMES - HOWEVER, I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND I CAN'T TAKE ANY CHANCES. *TR
NOTICE THE STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES PULSES ONLY WHEN MY CELL PHONE IS (DOCKED) NEAR DOCKED TO THE RIGHT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S STRANGE I CAN SOMETIMES TELL IF MY BLACK BERRY IS GOING TO RING OR GET AN EMAIL. THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO SHAKE OR TRY TO STEER ON ITS OWN. THIS IS SIMILAR TO MY OTHER 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA THAT I RESOLD TO THE DEALER. I WONDER IF MORE SHIELDING IS NEEDED TO REDUCE ANY INTERFERENCE. *TR
DRIVER WAS COMING OUT OF DRIVEWAY SLOWLY. ALL OF A SUDDEN , CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WAS HIT IN THE DRIVER'S DOOR. 2009 COROLLA WAS TOTALED. *TR
MY NEW 2009 COROLLA CAN NOT KEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE WHEN I AM DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. IT WANDERS LEFT AND RIGHT SO MUCH THAT I HAVE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL WITH GREAT EFFORTS, WHICH MAKES THE DRIVING SO TIRESOME. THIS PROBLEM IS ALSO REPORTED BY MANY OTHER 2009 COROLLA OWNERS. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY DEFECT. IT IS ABSOLUTELY DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS WHO ARE DRIVING NEAR THE COROLLA. THE CAR HAS VERY POOR STEERING. WHEN DRIVING ON A PAVED HIGHWAY, INTERSTATE 95, THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT, PULLING TO THE RIGHT. I'VE BROUGHT IT TO THE PURCHASING DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING. I FEEL AS IF THE CAR IS NOT SAFE, AS TO ALWAYS HAVING TO CORRECT THE STEERING ISSUE AND TO MAKE SURE THE CAR IS DRIVING STRAIGHT. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW MARCH 9, 2009 AND CURRENTLY HAS 6200 MILES ON IT. STEERING SEEMS TO BE PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. *TR
2009 TOYOTA COROLLA EPS CAUSES THE CAR TO WANDER AT SPEEDS HIGHER THAN 50 MPH. THIS MAKES FOR VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. TOYOTA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND DO A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
EXITING PARKING LOT ONTO HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE ENTERED THE ROAD INTO THE PATH OF A TRACTOR TRAILER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED. THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE ENGINE COIL WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON THREE DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THE IDENTICAL ENGINE FAILURE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE A PROBLEM. HOWEVER, DURING THE THREE FAILURE OCCURRENCES THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STARTER AND IGNITION COULD POSSIBLY CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED UPON THE PARTS ARRIVAL DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000.
2009 COROLLA POWER STEERING MAKE NOISE AND NOT SMOOTH. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY IN TRAFFIC. MULTIPLE CALLS TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAVE NOT SOLVED PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE AS WELL AS IN BUSY INTERSECTIONS. SERIOUS ACCIDENT IS IMMANENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. FIVE MINUTES LATER, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL TECHNICIAN AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE LIGHTING AND EXCESSIVE RAIN CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FAIL. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN FORMALLY DIAGNOSED AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 18,000. UPDATED 07/17/09. *LJ UPDATED 07/20/09
THE 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA THAT WAS PURCHASED IN 2009 ACCELERATED, ON IT'S ON ACCORD WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO INCREASE IN SPEED SO QUICKLY THAT THE CAR HIT THE NATURAL GAS METER LOCATED NEXT TO THE HOUSE.THE FORCE OF THIS IMPACT COMBINED WITH THE ACCELERATION CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE. THE GAS METER BEGAN TO LEAK AND THE FORCE OF IMPACT AND CONTINUING ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE, LITERALLY RIPPED A GASH IN THE SIDE OF THE CAR, APPROX 5 FEET LONG. THIS GASH WAS CAUSED BY THE REGULAR ON THE GAS METER. (THE METER IS WELL OUT OF THE WAY OF THE PATH AND HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN IN THIS LOCATION FOR DECADES. THE VEHICLE ONLY STOPPED BECAUSE IT WAS FORCED TO, AS THE SMALL SECTION OF THE GAS METER WHICH IMPACTED THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO CONTINUE RIPPING INTO THE CAR. AS IT FINALLY CAME TO A POINT WHERE THE DOOR ENDED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT QUARTER PANEL BEGAN. THIS WAS NOT REPORTED TO THE POLICE, AS THIS HAPPENED ON OUR PRIVATE PROPERTY. IN ADDITION,WE SAW NO POINT IN REPORTING IT TO NHTSA AS WE COULD NOT FATHOM THAT IT WAS EVEN THE CARS FAULT. AS PERPLEXED AS WE WERE THAT THIS HAPPENED, UNTIL RECENTLY, WE HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY SUCH DAMAGE WOULD BE CAUSED BY PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT SUCH A SLOW SPEED, OR EVEN HOW WE MANAGED TO HIT THE GAS METER. WITH THE GIVEN NEWS OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION RECALL, WE NOW HAVE A VERY CLEAR PICTURE AS TO WHAT HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER REPAIRED AS THE COST OF THIS REPAIR IS GOING TO BE MORE THAN WE CAN AFFORD AT THE MOMENT. ADDITIONALLY, THE GAS METER BEGAN TO LEAK AND HAD TO IMMEDIATELY BE TURNED OFF AND AN EMERGENCY REPAIR CALL TO THE GAS COMPANY WAS MADE. THE REGULATOR ON THE METER WAS REPLACED, BUT WE WERE WITHOUT GAS IN THE HOUSE FOR A SHORT PERIOD. THANKFULLY, THE HOUSE DID NOT EXPLODE. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AS THIS CAR IS DRIVEN 80 MILES A DAY TO GO TO WORK AND RETURN DAILY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PULLED LEFT AND RIGHT. IN ORDER TO STEER STRAIGHT, SHE WOULD HAVE TO TILT THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND WHEN SHE STOPPED, THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE TO THE LEFT OR TO THE RIGHT. SHE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND CAUSED HER TO DRIVE OVER A CURB. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES AND WAS TOLD THAT SHE NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. THEY REPLACED THE TWO FRONT TIRES AND TOLD HER THAT THE ALIGNMENT CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS CONTINUED TO MALFUNCTION SINCE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE FAILURE. SHE HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,669. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000.
THE STEERING IS HYPER-SENSITIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55 - 75 MPH). THIS HAS THE EFFECT OF MAKING THE CAR DIFFICULT TO KEEP CENTERED IN IT'S LANE. STATED ANOTHER WAY, THE CAR ALWAYS FEELS LIKE IT'S BEING DRIVEN IN HIGH WIND CONDITIONS. THUS FAR IT HAS NOT FELT DANGEROUS HOWEVER IT IS VERY FATIGUING ON HIGHWAY TRIPS. THE STEERING FEELS FINE DURING IN TOWN DRIVING (UP TO 50 MPH). HIGHER TIRE INFLATION PARADOXICALLY SEEMS TO SLIGHTLY IMPROVE THE CAR'S HIGHWAY STEERING BEHAVIOR. MY WIFE AND I NOW REMEMBER NOTICING THIS BEHAVIOR DURING THE TEST DRIVE; AT THAT TIME WE ASSUMED THAT IT WAS WINDY OUTSIDE. MOST OF THE DRIVING WE DO WITH THIS CAR IS IN TOWN. *TR

THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE ISSUE AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT IT WAS NORMAL TO ADD ONE FULL QUART OF OIL TO THE VEHICLE FOR EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
2009 TOYOTA COROLLA, MANUAL 5 SPEED, WHILE IN 1ST OR 2ND GEAR, ON A SLIGHT INCLINE WILL MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. TOYOTA'S SOLUTION WAS TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I'M APPALLED THAT MY CAR WHILE IN GEAR CAN TRAVEL TWO PARKING SPOTS AND HIT ANOTHER CAR WHILE I AM NOT IN THE CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IN WRITING THAT TOYOTA SAYS THAT THIS IS THE WAY THEY DESIGNED THEIR CAR. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA BACK IN APRIL 2008 AND WAS EXCITED ABOUT UPGRADING FROM A 20-YEAR OLD TOYOTA CAMRY, WHICH I LOVED. EVER SINCE I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE, I'VE ALSO HAD THE STEERING PROBLEMS THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT ON THE WEB. AROUND TOWN THE STEERING ON THE CAR IS FINE. BUT ONCE YOU GET ON THE FREEWAY, IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO STEER SINCE YOU'RE CONSTANTLY TRYING TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I HAVE NOT FILED A COMPLAINT DIRECTLY WITH TOYOTA NOR HAVE I SPOKEN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT APPEARS THAT THIS ISSUE IS REAL AND RATHER THAN DEAL WITH THEIR CONDESCENDING SERVICE MANAGERS, I'LL SIMPLY WAIT FOR A RECALL FROM TOYOTA. I CAN'T SAY THAT I'VE FELT UNSAFE ON THE ROAD, BUT MORE IRRITATED BY THE HORRIBLE STEERING. I MAY NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER TOYOTA AFTER ALL OF THIS IS SAID AND DONE. *TR
REAR SEAT, LEFT AND CENTER SEAT BELT BUCKLE ARE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY (BACKWARDS). *TR
THE NEW 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS A STEERING PROBLEM. ON A HIGHWAY GOING FASTER THAN 60 MPH, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE WITHIN THE LANE. IF IT DEVIATES (WHICH IS NORMAL) AND A CORRECTION IS MADE, THE CAR OVER-REACTS AND THE VEHICLE VEERS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LANE. ANOTHER CORRECTION PUTS THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE OTHER SIDE. SO THE VEHICLE MOVES SIDE TO SIDE. STRAIGHT LINE TRAVEL CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED ONLY WITH BOTH HAND FIRMLY ON THE WHEEL AND FIXING YOU EYES ON THE ROAD. THE DANGER IS WHEN YOU ARE DISTRACTED, SUCH AS LOOKING IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, ADJUSTING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, CHANGING A RADIO STATION, REACHING FOR SUN GLASSED, ETC. THEN THE CAR HEADS OUT OF THE LANE AS A RESULT OF A CONTINUED STEERING ADJUSTMENT. THE DEALERS AND MANUFACTURER CLAIM THAT THIS IS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE NEW FEATURE, ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. HOWEVER, THE 2010 COROLLA HAS ANOTHER STANDARD FEATURE (WHICH IS OPTIONAL FOR THE 2009): ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. MY 2009 DOES NOT HAVE THIS FEATURE AND I WAS NEVER TOLD OF ITS POSSIBLE BENEFIT TO THE STEERING. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2009 COROLLA XLE BECAUSE I COMMUTE TO WORK AND NEEDED SOMETHING WITH BETTER GAS MILEAGE. THE PLAN WAS TO GIVE THE CAR TO MY DAUGHTER IN TWO YEARS WHEN SHE GOES AWAY TO COLLEGE. THE CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS. I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO CORRECT THE STEERING. IT SCARES ME. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. WHAT CAN I DO. I AM SCARED TO DEATH DRIVING IT, AND I WOULD NEVER LET MY DAUGHTER DRIVE IT. *TR
THIS LETTER WAS DATED AND SENT JUNE132009 RE: STEERING, BRAKES AND/OR SUSPENSION OF MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA LE, 4 DOOR SEDAN. WITH A MILEAGE OF 11,682 TO DATE. TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., INC., THIS LETTER IS IN REGARDS TO THE RECENT ROAD HANDLING OF MY TOYOTA COROLLA (LISTED HEREIN). I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE TO REPLACE MY 1995 TOYOTA AVALON AS A VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK. I DRIVE QUITE A DISTANCE TO WORK HAVING PUT ON 8000 MILES ON THIS CAR IN ONLY 3 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. OUR FAMILY CAR IS A 2007 MATRIX XR. WE ARE OBVIOUSLY FANS OF TOYOTA VEHICLES. THIS PAST WEEK THE BISHOP FORD HIGHWAY, WHICH IS PART OF MY ROUTE TO WORK IN CHICAGO, WAS SCRAPED PRIOR TO A RESURFACING OF THE ROAD. THIS LEFT A STRETCH OF ROAD WHICH WAS VERY ROUGH AND WITH DEEP WAVY GROOVES CUT INTO THE PAVEMENT. WHEN MY CAR CROSSED INTO THE SCRAPED SECTION OF PAVEMENT MY CAR LURCHED ABOUT A FOOT TO THE RIGHT (WITHOUT THE STEERING WHEEL MOVING). THIS ALARMED ME AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BUT THE STEERING RECOVERED UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS BUT I REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG OR LOOSE IN THE FRONT END. MY WARRANTY WAS COMING DUE (12,000 BUMPER TO BUMPER) AND THE CAR DOES HANDLE WELL FOR THE MOST PART AND I NEED THE CAR FOR WORK SO I FIGURED I WOULD WAIT A FEW DAYS UNTIL THE WEEKEND TO HAVE IT FIXED ALONG WITH THE BRAKES WHICH ARE STARTING TO FEEL SPONGY. NEW PADS ARE PROBABLY NEEDED ON THE FRONT END. THREE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE I NOTICED SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE PAINT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERS, THE SERVICE DEPT MANAGER LOOKED AT IT AND SAID IT WAS DUE TO THE ENVIRONMENT, THE SALES GUY TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO TREE SAP AND THE THIRD TIME I TOOK IT THE SALES MANAGER SAID IT WAS FROM BIRD CRAP ( IT'S GARAGED MOST OF THE TIME). WEEKS LATER I WAS HIT BY A CONCRETE TRUCK, AT FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRUCKS FAULT BUT NOT REAL SURE NOW BECAUSE OF THE DIFFICULT STEERING WITH THIS CAR. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT THERE WAS NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED BY A PRIVATE SHOP, THEY COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WHILE MY CAR WAS THERE THEY LOOKED AT THE PAINT. I HAVE A BLACK CAR WITH LARGE WHITE SPOTS AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLEAR COAT AND IT WOULD COST AROUND 4,000 TO FIX IT. I AGAIN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THIS TIME THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BUY A BLACK CAR. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA AND WE ALL KNOW WHERE THAT HAS GOT ME. I JUST PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA LE. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 1993 AND A 2003 COROLLA. THE STEERING AND HANDLING WERE GREAT IN THE 1993 AND 2003 MODELS. THIS NEW ELECTRONIC STEERING IN THE 2009 MODEL IS SCARY. AT HIGH SPEEDS AND IN WINDY CONDITIONS THE CAR GOES ALL OVER THE ROAD. ON HIGHWAYS WITH GROOVED PAVEMENT THE CAR JERKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE REQUIRING CONSTANT CORRECTION OF THE STEERING. TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE MADE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER TOOK PICTURES AND TOLD HER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. FURTHERMORE, THE GEAR SHIFT BROKE AND THE DEALER DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR SIX MONTHS. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. A YEAR AGO UNDER RAINY WEATHER,DRIVING MY TOYOTA COROLLA S/09 WHEN APPROACHING THE HIGHWAY EXIT I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR BEFORE TURNING OUT TO THE MAIN WAY. I ALSO TALKED TO FIRESTONE DEALER PRIOR TO KENT BROWN ADJUSTMENT AND THAT DEALER ADVISED ME THAT THEIR TIRE WAS PROBABLY THE WRONG TIRE FOR THAT YEAR AND MAKE OF TOYOTA. I DRIVE 25,000 MILES A YEAR AND THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM, AND I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS A TIRE OR ALIGNMENT ISSUE! WHEN I HAD THE CAR IN FOR THE GAS PEDAL RECALL I ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY STATED UNTIL THERE IS A RECALL ISSUED THEY DIDN'T HAVE A FIX. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO AT LEAST LOOK AT THE PROBLEM WHILE IT WAS THERE. I LOVE THE CAR AND I'M A BIG TOYOTA FAN BUT THEY NEED TO FIX THIS! *TR
I RECENTLY TRADED A 2007 COROLLA SPORT BECAUSE OF STEERING DIFFICULTIES THAT I THOUGHT RESULTED FROM 2 TIRES SIMULTANEOUSLY GOING FLAT ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. THESE TIRES HAD BEEN INSTALLED BY A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD NEGLECTED TO REPLACE THE VALVE STEMS. SINCE THAT INCIDENT I FELT THAT THE STEERING WAS "OFF." I TOOK IT TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS AND THEY ALL SAID THE STEERING WAS FINE. I DECIDED TO TRADE IT FOR A 2009 TOYOTA XLE. I JUST BOUGHT IT LAST THURSDAY. THE MORE I DRIVE IT, THE MORE I NOTICE THAT THE STEERING IS WAY OFF ALSO! THE CAR DRIFTS IN LEFT/RIGHT DIRECTIONS WITH TOTAL UNPREDICTABILITY. IT'S LIKE DRIVING A ROLLER SKATE OR A SKATE BOARD. IT FEELS VERY DANGEROUS. NOW I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. I DID NOT PURCHASE THE 2009 I DROVE ORIGINALLY. THEY SOLD ME ONE OF F"THE TRUCK" THAT ALREADY HAD A SUN ROOF IN IT, INSTEAD OF INSTALLING ONE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. IT'S VERY SCARY! *TR
I BOUGHT A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA FOR MY WIFE BECAUSE OF ITS SAFETY FEATURES. WE NOTICE D THE STEERING WAS STIFF, BUT THE SALES PERSON ASSURED US IT WOULD BE BETTER THE MORE WE USE IT. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND NO IMPROVEMENT IN THE STEERING, IT IS STILL STIFF AND TENDS TO DRIFT. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2008 AND IT ONLY HAS A LITTLE OF 5,000 MILE ON IT BECAUSE MY WIFE DOES NOT LIKE DRIVING IT DUE TO THE STEERING. *TR
