TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT. THE CONTACT THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES TO REMEDY THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED SINCE THE STEERING FAILURE COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
I PURCHASED MY TOYOTA COROLLA S 2009 IN DECEMBER 2008 BRAND NEW AT THE MENLOVE DEALERSHIP IN BOUNTIFUL, UTAH. FROM THE VERY BEGINNING I HAD ISSUES WITH STEERING CONTROL WHEN DRIVING ON HIGH SPEEDS (65-80 MPH). IT FEELS THAT I HAVE TO HOLD ON TO THE WHEEL REALLY TIGHT OTHERWISE MY CAR IS GOING TO WONDER INTO A DIFFERENT LANE. OR IT SEEMS THAT THE WIND IS BLOWING MY CAR AWAY WHILE THERE IS NO WIND. MY ALIGNMENT WAS AND IS FINE. I AM VERY NERVOUS TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE MANY OTHER CARS AROUND. IT DOES ADD UP TO EXTRA STRESS. AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE. I DROVE OTHER CARS AND NONE OF THEM HAD THAT ISSUE OR GAVE ME THE FEELING THAT I AM LOOSING CONTROL OVER MY CAR. MY HUSBAND HAS THE SAME EXPERIENCE. WHEN I ADDRESSED THE ISSUE INITIALLY RIGHT AFTER THE PURCHASE, I WAS TOLD THAT POSSIBLY I HAVE TO DRIVE IT FOR SOME TIME "TO BREAK IT IN". IT HAS BEEN A YEAR NOW, AND THE ISSUE IS STILL THERE. ON FEBRUARY 27, 2010, I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE RECALL FIXES DONE. I ADDRESSED THE STEERING CONTROL ISSUE, THEY TOOK IT FOR AN EXTRA DAY TO TEST DRIVE. WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK, MENLOVE REPRESENTATIVES TOLD ME THAT THE STEERING IS SENSITIVE BUT OF COURSE IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE UNLESS TOYOTA COMES OUT AND TELLS OTHERWISE. - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION. SUDDENLY, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR BEGAN TO BLINK. THE WARNING INDICATORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN CLEANED ICE AND SNOW FROM THE SPEED SENSOR CONNECTION. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRICAL WIRES EXHIBITED CORROSION WHICH WERE CLEANED. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AS A RESULT OF PREMATURE WEAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,979. JS
LAST DECEMBER IN A TOTAL LOSS ACCIDENT WITH MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA ANY OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AS A RESULT I HAD STITCHES ON MY HEAD. *TR
WHEN YOU PICK UP SPEED DRIVING AND REACH AROUND 55MPH OR OVER, THE CAR DUCKS OFF TO THE LEFT AS IF ITS READY TO GO OFF THE ROAD. AND THIS CAR HAS A LOT OF BLIND SPOTS WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP OR SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH IN WINDY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY STEERING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY PULLED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THIS WAS A GRADUAL CHANGE IN DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A FRONT END WHEEL ALIGNMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE AND HAD A LOT OF "PLAY" IN IT. ALSO, HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD RECEIVE A MPG RATING OF 35 FOR THE HIGHWAY. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE ONLY RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY 27 MPG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED CONCERNING THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
TRYING TO MAKE A U TURN OUT OF A PARKING LOT, CAR STRAGHTENED ITSELF OUT AND SPED UP BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND WE WENT OVER A CURB AND DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND HIT A TREE . THIS ONLY OCCURED ONCE. WE HAD OVER $4000 IN DAMAGESON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES ON THE SPEEDOMETER.

DEAR EXPERTS, I AM THE OWNER OF A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. AND I WOULD LIKE ALSO TO STRESS OUT THE FACT THAT MY COROLLA HAS A STEERING PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP CAR IN LINE, IT TAKES A LOT OF CONCENTRATION TO WRESTLE WITH THE CAR AND WHICH IS NOT SAFE. IF DON'T PAY SUFFICIENT ATTENTION TO THE ROAD, YOU CAN VERY EASILY LOOSE YOUR LINE. *TR

SEAT BELT WILL LOCK BEFORE I HAVE IT BUCKLED. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE; ONCE WHEN IT WAS LOCKED. THE FIRST AND SECOND TIME, SHE WAS TOLD THAT SHE WAS NOT CONNECTING THE SEAT BELT TO THE BOOSTER SEAT CORRECTLY. THE THIRD TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR IT. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD FOLLOW UP WITH HER; SHE WAS STILL WAITING FOR A RESPONSE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE HEARD A SMALL TAPPING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED; HOWEVER, AN APPOINTMENT HAS NOT BEEN SCHEDULED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. DANGEROUS CAR TO DRIVE. VEHICLE DRIFTS HARD LEFT WHEN DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. PROBLEM IS MADE WORSE WHEN DRIVING NEXT TO A LARGE TRAILER TRUCK WITH CROSSWINDS. CAR STEERING HAS A LARGE LOOSE, DEAD CENTER FEEL DISCONNECTED TO THE ROAD. WHEN TURNING, THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE CENTER. THE DRIVER HAS TO MANUALLY CORRECT THE WHEEL EVERY TIME. I PURCHASED THE CAR "NEW" FROM THE DEALER. I STILL OWN IT TODAY, AND THE STEERING IS JUST AS BAD. IN BAD WEATHER, THE PROBLEM IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. THE DEALER HAS NO SOLUTION.
I PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA LAST YEAR AND HAVE 8,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AT PRESENT. WINTER IS TOUGH IN BUFFALO, NY SO I USE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER EVERY DAY. THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THAT WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY THE WASHER MECHANISM WORKS FINE BUT WHEN TRAVELING FROM 30MPH AND UP, THE WASHER MECHANISM CAUSES THE FLUID TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD VERY LOW EVEN UNDER THE WIPER BLADES AND FLUID RUNS UP THE WINDSHIELD FORCING THE DRIVER TO TURN ON THE WIPERS NUMEROUS TIMES TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD FOR MINUTES AFTER SPRAYING THE WASHER FLUID. THE WASHER MECHANISM IS NOT ADJUSTABLE BEING MOUNTED UNDER THE HOOD SO REPLACING THEM WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME. I HAVE AN APPT. AT THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR NEXT SATURDAY TO SHOW THEM. *TR

2009 TOYOTA COROLLA - GAS PEDAL STICKING PROBLEM WHILE ON THE FAMILY DRIVEWAY TRAVELING AT ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR, CAR RAPIDLY ACCELERATED FORWARD AFTER I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL. PUSHING THE BRAKE DOWN AS HARD AS I COULD THE CAR CONTINUED TRAVELING FORWARD CRASHING INTO MY DAUGHTER'S CAR, THEN PUSHING HER CAR THROUGH THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR & THROUGH THE HOUSE WALL COMPLETELY DAMAGING MY DAUGHTER'S CAR (TOTALED) DESTROYING THE GARAGE DOOR WHILE SMASHING DOWN THAT PORTION OF THE HOUSE WALL. AND THEN FURTHER INSIDE COLLIDING INTO A LARGE DRYER & WASHING FINALLY COMING TO REST AGAINST AN INSIDE HOUSE WALL BEAM & CONCRETE. MY DAUGHTER WAS ALMOST HIT AS SHE WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL WHEN THE CARS CRASHED THROUGH. WE'VE ALWAYS MAINTAINED THAT IT WAS TOYOTA'S FAULT AS IT WAS WITHOUT QUESTION, A CASE OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION--THE CAR RAPIDLY ACCELERATED FORWARD ON ITS OWN, BUT TOYOTA INSISTED IT WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THEIR CAR. TOYOTA, AT MY COST AND OUR INSURANCE COMPANY, STATE FARM, MADE ALL THE REPAIRS TO THE CAR--TOYOTA REFUSED TO TAKE LIABILITY FOR INVOLVEMENT WITH THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. SO THERE WE WERE, WHO COULD REFUTE MIGHTY TOYOTA'THEY WERE THE PREMIER CAR COMPANY & THEY MADE ALMOST PERFECT CARS. OBVIOUSLY WITH THEIR 2ND RECALL IN A MATTER OF MONTHS THAT IMAGE HAS NOW BEEN SOMEWHAT DISPELLED. IN SPEAKING WITH TOYOTA TODAY I WAS ADVISED THAT MY COROLLA WOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN THEIR RECALL AS I WAS ADVISED THAT THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IN MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN BY NIPO-DENSO AND NOT THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY INVOLVED WITH THE SO-CALLED STICKING GAS PEDAL PROBLEM, AS THAT ASSEMBLY, WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE UNITED STATES BY CTS. WHILE I APPRECIATE WHAT TOYOTA STATED ABOUT DIFFERENT ASSEMBLIES, I CAN STATE UNEQUIVOCALLY MY CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD EVEN THOUGH I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE HOLD TIME WHILE THE CAR RACED FORWARD.NO ONE INCURS SUCH DAMAGE PRESSING THE BRAKES. CAR PARKED ON DRY, LEVEL SURFACE. DRIVER STARTED CAR NORMALLY, PUT FOOT ON BRAKE, SHIFTED INTO REVERSE TO LEAVE PARKING SPOT, EASED ONTO THE GAS, AND THE CAR WENT FORWARD. STOPPED THE CAR, DOUBLE CHECKED THE GEAR SHIFT WAS FIRMLY IN REVERSE, EASED ON GAS AGAIN AND, ONCE AGAIN, CAR WENT FORWARD. THIS FORWARD LURCH DRUG THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR OVER A CONCRETE BARRIER. CAR STOPPED TO INSPECT DAMAGE. WHEN CAR STARTED AGAIN, EVERYTHING FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE DRIVER STATED THAT WITH ALL OF THE EXISTING RECALLS HE WOULD LIKE TO GIVE HIS VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS MALFUNCTIONED SINCE HE PURCHASED IT. THE RUBBER WAS SEPARATING FROM THE WINDOW AND HE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 20,000 MILES. THE CONTACT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WHENEVER HE DROVE THE VEHICLE AND HE NO LONGER WANTS THE HASSLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,678.
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) I PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA (VIN=[XXX]) IN AUGUST 2008. AT HIGHER SPEEDS, IT SEEMS TO STEER LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING BESIDE A LARGE TRACTOR TRAILER RIG (I.E.: FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS BEING BUFFETED BY WIND). I TALKED TO MY BROTHER IN-LAW AND HE SAID HE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM ONCE WITH A SMALL LIGHT WEIGHT CAR. SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THIS WAS A TYPICAL PROBLEM WITH THE COROLLA AND SAID I NEEDED TO PURCHASE A SPOILER. NOW I AM A CIVIL ENGINEER AND THINK THAT THE ENGINEERS THAT DESIGNED THE CAR WOULD HAVE DESIGNED IT TO RUN WITHOUT A SPOILER AT LEGAL DRIVING SPEEDS. I DID KEEP THE TIRE PRESSURE AT 35 PSI, BUT LOWERED IT TO THE RECOMMENDED 30 PSI. THIS HELPED, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS AT SPEEDS OF 65 TO 70 MPH WHICH I DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE WITH TRAFFIC. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE CAR DRIVES AT 65 TO 70 MPH WITHOUT TRAFFIC. I THINK THAT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE STEERING. *TR
I OWN A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. I BOUGHT IT 8/2008 AND NOTICED SHORTLY AFTER THAT IT HAD MAJOR STEERING ISSUES. I DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES A WEEK TO AND FROM SCHOOL ON INTERSTATE 80 IN IOWA. I'M CONSTANTLY SWAYING BACK AND FORTH LIKE I'M DRIVING DRUNK. IT'S EVEN WORSE IN THE RAIN AND SNOW AND ON WINDY DAYS.
