ON 21 OCTOBER 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:30 AM, I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WITH MY 2009 COROLLA. I WAS PARKING THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL IN NORMAN, OK WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. I REVERSED THE VEHICLE TO STRAIGHTEN IT UP IN IN A PARKING SPACE; THEN, I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD. AS THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD, IN AN INSTANT, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SELF -ACCELERATED TO FULL THROTTLE. WITH MY LEFT FOOT ON THE FOOT REST PEDAL (DEAD PEDAL) AND RIGHT FOOT FULLY DEPRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM FUNCTIONED PROPERLY MAKING AN AUDIBLE CLICKING SOUND AS THE CAR CONTINUED DARTING FORWARD AT FULL THROTTLE. WITH THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY A 30 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE CURB IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE, THE FORWARD MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM FULLY ENGAGED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL BOUNCED OVER THE CURB, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL STOPPED AGAINST THE CURB AND THE ENGINE SELF-DECELERATED. AS THE ENGINE DECELERATED, AN AUDIBLE CLICKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THAT STOPPED AS THE ENGINE RETURNED TO AN IDLE. I HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE TO SELF-ACCELERATE TO FULL THROTTLE, NOR CAN I EXPLAIN WHY IT SELF-DECELERATED BACK TO AN IDLE. POSSIBLY, THE VEHICLE HITTING THE CURB WITH THE DRIVER'S FRONT WHEEL AND BOUNCING OVER THE CURB COULD HAVE CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SELF-DECELERATE. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE INVOLVED IN THE INCIDENT. HAD A PERSON BEEN WALKING IN FRONT OF MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT DURING THE SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION EVENT, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IF NOT KILLED. THE FOWLER TOYOTA DEALERSHIP OF NORMAN, OK EVALUATED THE VEHICLE AND CONCLUDED THE INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY MISAPPLICATION OF PEDAL. AN EDR WAS DOWNLOADED, EVALUATED AND INCONCLUSIVE.

TAKATA RECALL RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN MAY FOR TAKATA PASSENGER AIRBAGS. TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS I HAVE CALLED HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO HELP ME AND REPAIR THIS LIFE-THREATENING ISSUE IN MY VEHICLE. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THIS TO BE RESOLVED AND IT IS TAKING FAR TOO LONG. DRIVING WITH A DANGEROUS EXPLOSIVE IN MY ONLY VEHICLE THAT COULD KILL MYSELF OR A LOVED ONE IS UNACCEPTABLE, ESPECIALLY FOR THIS LENGTH OF TIME AFTER THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED. PLEASE HELP!

TAKATA RECALL - IT'S BEEN MONTHS SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL AND I'VE ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE TIMES TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN FOR A REPAIR AND HAVE RECEIVED NO FIXES AT ALL (I WAS TOLD TO SIMPLY NOT LET ANYONE SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT--NOT WHAT I CONSIDER TO BE A REASONABLE FIX). I WANT IT FIXED. IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH A PASSENGER. IT'S SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE. I WANT A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE; OR, TO HAVE THIS FIXED IMMEDIATELY.

TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE MANY MONTHS AGO. THE DATE BELOW IS AN APPROXIMATION.I WAS TOLD THAT FOR SAFETY NO ONE SHOULD RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE INCONVENIENCE. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH A LOANER CAR.

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. RED OIL LIGHT COMES ON WHEN YOU TURN AND STOP VEHICLE BEFORE MANUFACTURER CHANGE INTERVAL. TOOK TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THE VEHICLE PASSED. TOYOTA FAILS TO PROVIDE ANY TECHNICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TEST SUCH AS WHAT OIL TYPE USED, AMOUNTED ADDED, AMOUNT BURNED. THIS IS THE SECOND TSB REFUSED BY TOYOTA FOR THIS VEHICLE TO GET OUT OF SAFETY RECALL AND LAWSUITS. MY FIRST SAFETY COMPLAINT WAS TO GET TBS FOR LOOSE COMPUTER ASSISTED STEERING. TOYTOTA REFUSED BASED ON TIME PASSED AND MILEAGE OF VEHICLE.
WE WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WHILE WE HEARD SOME NOISE CAME FROM THE FRONT OF OUR CAR. WE THOUGHT WE HIT SOME METAL, SO WE SLOWED DOWN AND CHANGED TO THE SLOW LANE, THEN THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN BY ITSELF, AND THE STEERING WHEEL COULDN'T MOVE FREELY. WE PULLED OVER, OPENED THE FRONT, AND SAW SOME SMOKE AND SOME LIQUID FELL DOWN. WE SPENT $300 FOR TOWING OUR CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT OUR CAR FROM. AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS THE WATER PUMP PULLEY FAILED THAT CAUSE THE DRIVE BELT BROKE AND ENGINE OVERHEATED...I WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WILL CAUSE ABOUT $4000 FOR A SECOND-HAND ENGINE!! OUR 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA WAS BOUGHT NEW IN NOVEMBER, 2008 AND ONLY HAS 68000 MILES ON IT. WE JUST DID THE OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP 5 DAYS AFTER THIS HAPPEN! NOW THE CAR IS SITTING AT THE PARKING LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP, WE CONTACTED THE SERVICE MANAGER ON THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVE A POSITIVE RESPOND YET. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT IT PASS THE WARRANTY, HOWEVER, WHEN I DID THE RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT NOT ONLY ME HAS THIS PROBLEM, THERE ARE 35 MORE COMPLAIN ON RECORD ABOUT THE WATER PUMP FAILURE. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD DO A RECALL ON THE WATER PUMP AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR.

I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THESE DEFECTIVE INFLATORS MIGHT GO OFF WITHOUT WARNING DUE,TO HIGH HEAT. I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND DO NOT HAVE A GARAGE.. I NEED THIS FIXED NOW AND I HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO "WAIT". DO I WAIT UNTIL SOMETHING AWFUL HAPPENS?

RECALL FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAG WAS SENT TO ME ON JUNE 9, 2016 BY TOYOTA, BUT DEALERS IN MIAMI, FL DO NOT HAVE THE PART TO REPLACE AS OF YET. IT IS NOW MORE THAN 2 MONTHS SINCE THIS LETTER WENT OUT AND NO ACTION BY DEALERS HAS BEEN PRESENTED. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS AIRBAG.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS NOW DISABLED DUE TO THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND LATER DEEMED DESTROYED. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I WAS STOPPED AT A CROSS SECTION. STARTED TO TURN LEFT, GAVE THE CAR GAS AND THE PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHUT THE CAR OFF, STARTED IT AND TRIED TO REV UP THE ENGINE. NOTHING HAPPENED. HAD IT TOWED TO MY LOCAL GARAGE.

TAKATA RECALL 16V-340: I WAS NOTIFIED BY TOYOTA THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL FOR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS 3 MONTHS AGO. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT A REPLACEMENT PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE AND WAS UNABLE TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATED TIMEFRAME IN WHICH IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK. TOYOTA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT VEHICLES MEET SAFETY STANDARDS AND THAT WHEN A SAFETY CONCERN IS IDENTIFIED IT IS ADDRESSED IN A TIMELY AND RESPONSIBLE MANNER. THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED IN THIS REGARD. IT IS UNREASONABLE TO ASK VEHICLE OWNERS TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER CAN GET AROUND TO FIXING THE PROBLEM.

TAKATA RECALL ACCORDING TO MY RECALL LETTER THERE IS CURRENTLY NO SOLUTION AND I WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN THERE IS ONE. MEANWHILE, THE SUGGESTION IS THAT I NOT HAVE ANYONE SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS INHIBITS MY LIFE AND DRIVING HABITS GREATLY; PARTICULARLY IN FLORIDA HEAT WITH NO VENTS IN THE BACK SEAT.
