THE PROBLEM IS WITH BRAKING SYSTEM OR BRAKE IN MY TOYOTA COROLLA 2010. I STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT 25MPH SPEED AT LOCAL STREET, BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL JUST GOT FROZE COULDN'T PUSH FURTHER. THEN I TRIED TO PULL UP THE BRAKE HANDLE BUT THE HANDLE WAS TOTALLY LOOSE, ALL LIGHT ON THE BOARD WENT ON, THEN I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE KEY TO FORCE THE ENGINE STOP BEFORE I ALMOST HIT THE OTHER CAR FRONT OF ME.AFTER 5 MINS I RESTART MY CAR, IT TURNED OUT NORMAL. IT'S VERY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES. I WAS LUCKY THIS TIME, IT COULD CAUSE TO DEATH ACCIDENT. I SEND THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR ORIGINALLY. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, ALSO CHARGED ME TO PAY FOR THE CHECKING.THIS CAR IS BEYOND THE SAFE TO DRIVE, I DON'T KNOW IT WILL HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN SUDDENLY THICK SMOKE STARTED APPEARING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW SWITCH. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR. THE SMOKE HAD THE TYPICAL SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC AND THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW SLOWLY OPENED ON ITS OWN. AFTER 5 MINUTES, THE SMOKE STOPPED AND I CONTINUED TO MY OFFICE AS IT WAS NEARBY. LATER IN THE EVENING, UPON REMOVING THE SWITCH, THE MELTED PLASTIC WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE. ONE OF THE SWITCHES ON THE PANEL DOES NOT DEPRESS ANYMORE DUE THE MELTING OF THE PLASTIC. THE SWITCH THAT DOES NOT DEPRESS IS FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW AND IT HAS BEEN OPEN SINCE FRIDAY JULY 19TH BECAUSE THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED YET. I AM AWARE OF A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HOWEVER, IT IS FOR COROLLA MODELS UP TO 2009 AND SINCE MINE IS A 2010 MODEL, TOYOTA REFUSES TO ADDRESS THIS SITUATION. *TR
AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS: ABS, ANTI SKID SYMBOL, BATTERY AND OIL LAMP APPEARED. LOST POWER STEERING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS CEASED, IT WAS RAINING HEAVILY. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 6 MILES TO HOME. THE NEXT MORNING, CAR STARTED WITHOUT ANY ISSUES, DROVE APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET, THE SAME LIGHTS APPEARED AND POWER STEERING AGAIN CEASED. ABLE TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES TO WORK. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP FOR AFTER WORK. CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED LIGHTS APPEARING AGAIN AND WITHOUT POWER STEERING. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES, ALL POWER IN CAR STOPPED, AND CAR IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. WAS UNABLE TO RESTART CAR, CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHERE THE SERVICE MEMBER STATED THE CAR NEEDED A NEW ALTERNATOR. WHEN ASKED WHY THIS WOULD OCCUR WITH ONLY 25000 MILES, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO GIVE ME A RESPONSE. THE ALTERNATOR WAS COSTLY. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, PURCHASED THIS CAR IN JULY, 2009. SERVICE MY CAR REGULARLY AS SUGGESTED IN MANUAL AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH NEEDING SUCH A COSTLY REPAIR AS I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS IN THE PAST WITH OTHER MAKES OF CARS. ALL OF WHICH I HAVE OWNED FOR 8 TO 10 YEARS EACH. *TR
I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN AND WAS HIT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE FORCE OF THE HIT SPUN MY CAR IN A FULL CIRCLE, DAMAGED THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE FRAME, KNOCKED OFF THE FRONT BUMPER, CAUSED THE TRUNK TO OPEN, AND CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE SPANNING THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE CAR INCLUDING THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO OPEN. DURING THIS ACCIDENT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR FOR MY COROLLA WAS 13,000 DOLLARS. *TR
THE GAS PEDAL SUCK TO THE FLOOR WHEN ACCELERATING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. I PULLED OFF ROAD, PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT MOTOR OFF. GAS PEDAL WAS STILL STUCK TO FLOOR. TRIED PULLING PEDAL UP TO NO AVAIL. TURNED IGNITION TO THE ON POSITION AND PEDAL STILL STUCK. AFTER STOMPING IT SEVERAL TIMES GAS PEDAL UNSTUCK. YOU COULD HERE SOMETHING UNDERNEATH THE HOOD RELEASE IT. DEFINITELY NOT A FLOOR MAT PROBLEM!! *TR
2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE AS HE WAS PARKING IN A PARKING LOT. THE CONSUMER STATED NO MATTER HOW HARD HE TRIED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND WOULD NOT STOP. AS A RESULT, HE STRUCK SOME SHOPPING CARTS, THAT DAMAGED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON OCTOBER 28, 2010. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TOOK THE DEALER, WHERE THEY REPLACED THE ACTUATOR. UPDATED 08/15/13

DROVE INTO A GAS STATION TO BUY GAS, PUT CAR IN PARK, STEPPED OUT TO PUMP CASE, NOTICED CAR MOVING, JUMP IN TO STOP IT, CAR ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO BUILDING, CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH CAR AND BUILDING. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A RE-TUNED POWER STEERING COMPUTER ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
HIGHWAY DRIVING IS LIKE THE WIND IS BLOWING HARD AND BLOWING THE CAR ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE CAR WANDERS AROUND THE ROAD AND MAKES STEERING VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. *TR
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70MPH. MY EXIT WAS COMING UP ON THE RIGHT SIDE SO I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN. HOWEVER THE BRAKE STUCK AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T SLOW DOWN, IT KEPT GOING. I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, AND USUALLY IF I BRAKE WITHOUT FIRST TURNING IT OFF IT SLOWS DOWN, BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. SO I TURNED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. MY CAR KEPT GOING. I PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKE, BUT THAT MADE THE CAR ACCELERATE EVEN MORE. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE PEDAL WASN'T STUCK, IT WASN'T, BUT I KNEW THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM BECAUSE MY CAR WAS ACCELERATING WHEN I WAS HITTING THE BRAKE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE I WAS GOING OVER 110MPH. I SPED AT THIS SPEED FOR QUITE A WAYS MAYBE 3/4 OF A MILE. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE AND HAD MY PHONE IN MY HAD TO CALL 911. I KEPT PUSHING ON THE BRAKE SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO (THIS OF COURSE MADE ME GO FASTER AND FASTER). THE BRAKE WOULDN'T GO DOWN THOUGH. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING. IT WAS LIKE STUCK? FINALLY I HEARD MY ACCELERATE POP. AND THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DISCONNECTED THE SWITCH AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY TO PREVENT A POSSIBLE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,800. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) WHERE THE DEALER INSTALLED A RE-ENFORCEMENT BAR TO PREVENT POSSIBLE ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,000. *TR
EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE FORWARD OR REVERSE, MY CAR JUMPS QUICKLY. SCAREY AND ALMOST HAVE HIT THINGS. I ACCELERATE VERY CAUTIOUSLY EVERY SINGLE TIME BUT NOT FUN!!! WAITING FOR THE BIG HIT!!!! NOT "IF" BUT "WHEN?" NOT MY IMAGINATION. MY GROWN SON, HATES TO DRIVE MY CAR. HE SAYS THE SAME THING. HAPPENS ANYTIME I ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION. I RECENTLY PURCHASE A 2010 COROLLA. THE CAR DOES NOT HANDLE WELL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR VEERS TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT WITH A NEED TO CORRECT THE POSITION OF THE CAR. GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HAVING YOUR CAR SWAY FROM SIDE TO SIDE IS SCARY AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL THAT YOU CAN CRASH AT ANY MOMENT IF YOU DON'T CORRECT THE STEERING WHEEL FAST ENOUGH. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 65 MPH AND DUE TO AN OFF-CENTER FEELING AND A LAX STEERING WHEEL, LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. UNDER NO FAULT OF MY OWN I SUBSEQUENTLY CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL, SPUN ACROSS LANES OF TRAFFIC, AND DID NOT HAVE ANY AIRBAGS DEPLOY DESPITE LOSING MY FRONT BUMPER, FRONT BUMPER SUPPORT BEAM, RADIATOR, FANS, HEADLIGHT, HAD MY DOOR PINNED IN, HOOD CRUSHED, AND MISSING MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOTALED SINCE NO FRAME DAMAGE WAS DONE AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *TR
THE DRIVER-SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A SIDE-IMPACT COLLISION. THE ESTIMATED SPEED OF IMPACT WAS BETWEEN 40 & 45 MPH, DIRECTLY STRIKING BETWEEN THE DRIVER DOOR AND THE FRONT DRIVER-SIDE WHEEL. TOYOTA CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER WAS CONTACTED, AND REPLIED THAT THE SYSTEM PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. WHILE NOT AN EXPERT IN AIRBAG DESIGN AND OPERATION, I CANNOT IMAGINE A MORE CLEAR-CUT SITUATION WHERE THE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED TO PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DECLARED "TOTALED" BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY, BUT PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE ARE AVAILABLE. *TR

THE TOYOTA WAS GOING APROX 60MPS IN SLOW LANE OF NYS INTERSTATE 84 AND WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND WAS PUSHED INTO A GUARDRAIL AT SIDE OF INTERSTATE. TOYOTA HAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO REAR AND FRONT ( CAR IS TOTALED). DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON TOYOTA UPON IMPACT WITH GUARD RAIL. AS A RESULT OF IMPACT FROM THE REAR AND THE FRONT, DRIVER OF THE TOYOTA RECEIVED LACERATION WHICH REQUIRED STITCHES, SWELLING AND BLACK A BLUE MARKS TO FACIAL AND NOSE AREA, AND A HEAD CONCUSSION WHICH REQUIRED A 3 DAY STAY AT A HOSPITAL. THE ISSUE AND CONCERN IS NON-DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG ON THE TOYOTA AT THAT RATE OF SPEED. NEW YORK STATE POLICE HAS AN ACCIDENT REPORT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS PENDING AN INVESTIGATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 64,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
EXPERIENCED A CAR ACCIDENT ON 1/28/2013, THE CAR HAS BEEN ESTIMATED AS TOTALED AS PER ALL STATE CAR INSURANCE. MY ISSUE AND CONCERN IS THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS HIT IN BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK INTO THE GUARD RAIL ON THE HIGHWAY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, OR IF THE SENSOR DID NOT PICK UP THE CRASH. *TR

FIRST, THE TRUNK STOPPED OPENING FROM THE INSIDE. ALSO, THE VSC OFF LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND TRACTION LIGHT ALL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. THE GAS CAP WAS ON TIGHTLY, THE FUEL LEVELS WERE RIGHT, THERE WAS NO NEED FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AND THE CAR IS ONLY 2 1/2 YEARS OLD IN WHICH I DID NOT DO ANY WRECKLESS DRIVING. *TR

WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HAD THE NEW ONE PUT IN. THE DAY AFTER IT WAS DONE, WE DROVE APPROXIMATELY 230 MILES ROUND TRIP, ALMOST ALL OF IT ON THE FREEWAY. WE WERE PLEASED TO FIND THAT THE STEERING WAS GOOD AND THE CAR TRACKED STRAIGHT. TWO DAYS LATER, WE DID THE SAME TRIP AND IMMEDIATELY KNEW SOMETHING WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT.
