TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO ACCELERATE ABNORMALLY TO 80 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC DID NOT GENERATE ANY FAILURE CODES FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TAKATA RECALL. GAS PEDAL BECOMES STUCK WITH FLOOR MAT WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. WE HAVE HAD TO REMOVE FLOOR MAT FOR SAFETY. REMOVAL OF FLOOR MAT HAS CAUSED WEAR AND TEAR ON FLOOR BOARD COVERING.
I NOTICE THAT MY TRUNK DOESN'T REMAIN UP AFTER I OPEN IT. THIS IS CAUSING THE HOOD TO COME DOWN ON MY HEAD. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPENS OUT TOO FAR. *TR
WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY TOYOTA COROLLA 2010 ON 12/29/2011 AT AROUND 10.30 PM, SUDDENLY I FELT THAT THE STEERING WAS SO RIGID TO TURN AND NOTICED IN THE CAR DASHBOARD WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR ABS, ENGINE MALFUNCTION/CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR, BRAKE, VSC OFF, WERE ILLUMINATING. AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!! I TRIED AGAIN TO START THE VEHICLE BUT IT FAILED.I TOWED THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY RAN VEHICLE TEST AND TOLD ME THAT THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED. WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9020. I CALLED AND WROTE TO TOYOTA USA REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT DIDN'T GET ANY REPLY EVEN AFTER 6 DAYS!!!!!!!!! *TR
I HAVE A 2010 COROLLA S MODEL WITH 44K MILES ON IT . MY WIFE COMMUTES WITH THIS VEHICLE EVERY DAY FOR WORK. I DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE WEEKENDS WHEN WE TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN. LAST WEEK WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY WIFE'S CAR I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING FELT LOOSE AND UNRESPONSIVE AT LOW AND ESPECIALLY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS HYDROPLANING. I ASKED MY WIFE IF SHE HAD NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE CAR SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT. SHE CONFIRMED WITH ME THAT THE STEERING DID FEEL SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT AND DESCRIBED THE FEELING EXACTLY LIKE I HAD AROUND THE TIME I NOTICED IT AS WELL. I THEN GOT ON THE INTERNET TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND I SEEN THAT THERE WERE MANY 2010 COROLLA OWNERS THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS I. ALL RESEARCH SEEMS TO BE LINKED WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. I NOW FEEL THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO PUT MY FAMILY IN ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAD SAW THAT THERE WAS 8 ACCIDENTS AND 11 INJURIES AND 168 COMPLAINTS LINKED TO THIS PROBLEM ON THE (NHTSA) WEBSITE. *TR
ON 11/23/2011, I BOUGHT A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA AT STERLING MCCALL TOYOTA. UNFORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLE WAS INADEQUATE BECAUSE OF A HIDDEN DEFECT IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE DRIVERS FRONT SEAT. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND CONCERNED BECAUSE THE WAY THE SEAT WAS DESIGNED AND/ OR CONSTRUCTED PLACES A METAL BAR TO BE COMPRESSED AGAINST THE SPINAL COLUMN. THE LOCATION OF THIS METAL BAR LOWERS THE PROTECTION OF THE OCCUPANTS PHYSICAL SAFETY AND PLACES THE DRIVER AT A HIGHER RISK FOR LUMBAR VERTEBRAE INJURY.
UNDER CERTAIN LIMITED CONDITIONS, THE TRUNK DOESN'T HOLD OPEN BY ITSELF. ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN PARKED FACING UPHILL IN OWNER'S DRIVEWAY. OWNER HAS UNEXPECTEDLY BEEN HIT IN THE HEAD SEVERAL TIMES WHILE RETRIEVING CARGO BECAUSE THE TRUNK JUST COMES DOWN HARD FROM THE FULLY OPEN POSITION. SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE LATCH AREA OF THE TRUNK LID HAS IMPACTED OWNER'S HEAD. THIS LATCH IS ONLY COVERED BY A SMALL PLASTIC PIECE, OTHERWISE IT'S METAL. THE OWNER HASN'T BEEN INJURED, BUT IT HAS CAUSED THEM PAIN EACH TIME IT HAPPENS. OWNER HAD IT CHECKED AT A TOYOTA DEALER. THEY SAID IT OCCURS BECAUSE AN AFTERMARKET REAR SPOILER WAS INSTALLED BY A PRIOR OWNER. DEALER SAYS THIS AFTERMARKET SPOILER IS TOO HEAVY, CAUSING TRUNK NOT TO STAY OPEN. DEALER OFFERED TO REMOVE SPOILER FOR A FEE. WE'VE SINCE DISCOVERED TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A TSB THAT TELLS DEALERS TO REPLACE ONE OR BOTH TORSION BARS FOR THIS CONDITION. WE'D LIKE TO NHTSA TO REVIEW THIS & SEE IF ENOUGH OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO CONSIDER A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA MATRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN DRIVING 5 MPH AND BELOW WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE RUSTED AND A SMALL PEBBLE WAS LODGED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES FOR REPAIRS BUT NONE OF THE REPAIRS CORRECTED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,000. I WAS WONDERING IF ANY OTHER CUSTOMER WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TIRES, I HAVE HAD FOUR NAIL IN MY TIRES FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES. MY GROUND AFFECT ON MY TOYOTA SPORT IS FADING THE COLOR AFTER ONE YEAR. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS FROM TAKING IT THROUGH THE CARWASH. I TOOK IT THROUGH MIKE'S CARWASH TWO TIMES AND THE OTHER TIMES THROUGH THE TOYOTA CARWASH AT THE DEALER SHIP. I HAD A HOLE IN FRONT FLOOR MAT AFTER ONE YEAR BUT THEY REPLACED ALL FOUR OF THEM. ## VIN PASSED ## TOYOTA COROLLA 2010 ##
AT APPROXIMATELY 0600 ON THE ABOVE DATE I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT AND NEAR UNCONTROLLABLE MOMENTARY DISRUPTURE OF THE ABS/ESC SYSTEMS OF MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY, STEERING LOCKED AND ABS AND ESC CONTROL LIGHTS ON DASH LIT UP WHILE I WAS MAKING THE TRANSITION FROM IH37 SOUTH TO IH35 SOUTH IN SAN ANTONIO, TX. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL BY LETTING OFF OF THE BRAKES AND THROTTLE THUS COASTING THROUGH THE LEFT HAND TURN AND BARELY MISSING THE RETAINING WALL. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE FIRST WAS ONLY DAYS AFTER PURCHASE OF CAR. LOCAL DEALER MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL STATED "WE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR." DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF MCCOLLUMS TOYOTA FIVE OTHER TIMES ALL WITH THE SAME "WE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG" REPLY. COMPLAINTS OF SOFT BRAKE PEDAL BROUGHT A SIMILAR "THAT'S NORMAL" RETORT EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR SERVICE. AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, FRONT ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE FOUND TO HAVE WORN/GROVED APPROXIMATELY 1/8" DEEP PER SIDE (NOT REPORTED BY DEALER), NOT FROM METAL TO METAL CONTACT BUT JUST WEAR FROM PADS FRICTION MATERIAL. PADS STILL HAD 1/2" OF FRICTION MATERIAL ON EACH. REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS AND PADS FROM AUTO ZONE MADE THINGS BETTER UNTIL NOW. REQUEST ABS/ESC SOFTWARE BE CHECKED ON ALL 2008 TO 2012 COROLLA/SCION TC MODELS ALONG WITH CHECK OF MATERIALS USED IN PADS AND THE ROTORS. OEM ROTORS TAKEN OFF CAR WILL BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 15 JAN 2012. 36,000 MILES ON A SET OF ROTORS AND PADS ARE A LITTLE EXTREME WHEN I HAVE OVER 125,000 ON MY GM'S ROTORS AND 165,000 ON MY FORD'S ROTORS WITH PADS NEEDING REPLACEMENT AROUND 45 TO 55 K. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, FROM NEUTRAL GEAR, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL TO TREAT MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 31,300.
WHEN BRAKING ENGINE SPEEDS UP, HAVING THE IMPRESSION OF LOSS OF CONTROL. THE CONDITION CAN BE REPLICATED IF MY FOOT IS RESTING ON THE EXTREME RIGHT EDGE OF THE BRAKE PAD AND THEN APPLYING THE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. WHEN BRAKING, MY SHOE COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE ACCELERATOR DEPRESSING IT SLIGHTLY, SPEEDING UP THE ENGINE. THE DRIVER'S IMMEDIATE REACTION IS TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, EXACERBATING THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS EASILY SOLVED BY INCREASING THE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATOR SIMPLY BY CHANGING THE THICKNESS OF THE BRAKE PEDAL PAD. I HAVE TESTED MY TOYOTA AVALON 1998 FOR THIS CONDITION AND FIND THAT THERE IS NO SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THAT VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, I IMMEDIATELY FELT AN AWKWARDNESS WITH THE BRAKES. ANYTIME I BEGAN TO STOP & THE ROAD WAS LESS THAN PERFECT, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP & I SEEMED TO SLIDE TO A STOP. THE FEELING WAS ALMOST LIKE STOPPING ON GRAVEL OR HYDROPLANING, JUST NO CONTROL FELT. WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS, I WAS TOLD THAT'S HOW THE NEW BRAKES ARE (I HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED AN OLDER VEHICLE) & THE BRAKE INSPECTION FOUND NOTHING. I HAVE BEEN IN TWO MVAS PRIOR, ONCE I WAS REAR ENDED & THE OTHER TIME SOMEONE RAN A STOP SIGN & HIT ME. 10/12/11 I REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE & WAS ALSO REAR ENDED IN THE PROOCESS. WHEN I WENT TO BRAKE SUDDENLY THAT DAY, THE CAR SLID INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I AM A VERY CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVER. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD THAT WHEN SOMEONE REAR ENDS ANOTHER VEHICLE, IT IS AUTOMATICALLY THEIR FAULT. I HAVE SINCE PURCHASED ANOTHER NEW VEHICLE, DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER, AND BEING TOLD THE TOYOTA BRAKES WERE RIGHT, COULDN'T BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. 10/10/11 I HAD LAB WORK PERFORMED & WAS DIAGNOSED AS BEING PREGNANT. THIS ACCIDENT TWO DAYS LATER, THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, EITHER. THE HOOD OF THE CAR CAME IN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD ON ME, THE CAR HAS BEEN DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THERE WERE TWO FAULTY TOYOTA PARTS THAT FAILED ME AND MY UNBORM CHILD THAT DAY-THE BRAKES AND THE AIRBAGS. I GET TO HAVE SURGERY 10/28/11 TO REMOVE THE NOW NONVIABLE CHILD FROM MY WOMB. I EQUATE THIS LOSS TO THE FAILURES ON TOYOTA'S PART. *TT

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR FUEL LINE WAS FRACTURED AND LEAKING FUEL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE THE FUEL LINE WAS MANUFACTURED WITH PLASTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FUEL LINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

WHEN THAT OCCURRED, THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OVERHEATED AND BOILED OUT ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,120.
I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA CORROLLA THAT CAME OUTFITTED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 TIREE 89S. I WAS TRAVELLING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT. A QUICK INSPECTION OF THE TIRE DIDN'T SHOW ANY PUNCTURES ON THE MAIN TREAD BUT THERE WAS A HOLE ON THE SIDEWALL. CALLED GOODYEAR TO LET THEM KNOW AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL. I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER OCCURANCES SO I'M SHARING MINE. HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE. THE TIRES HAD 13,500 MILES TOTAL AS DOES MY CAR. *TR
HAVE NO CONTROL OF STEERING THE ALIGNMENT IS NOT CORRECT AND THE TIRES ARE BALD AFTER ROTATION EVERY 5000 MILES. DEALER SAYS THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THESE THINGS AFTER I PAID FOR EXTRA WARRANTY UP TO 100,000 MILES. GOODYEAR WILL NOT HELP WITH TIRES. TOYOTA DEALER THAT CAR WAS BOUGHT FROM SAYS THEY DO NOT COVER THIS UNDER MY WARRANTY THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN WRECKED OR ANY OTHER MISHAPS. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN FOR THE TIRES AT 15,000 MILES TO ENSURE THEY WERE ROTATING WHEN SERVICED AND THEY ASSURED ME THEY WERE. THE TIRES ARE BALD AND TOOK TO A TIRE DEALER TO EXPRESS MY CONCERN THEY SAID THEY CAR WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT IN THE FRONT. THE DEALER THEN TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. I GUESS MY QUESTION IS SHOULDNT THEIR TECHNICIAN BEEN ABLE TO SEE THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT WHEN ROTATING THE TIRES AND NOTIFIED ME OF THIS PROBLEM? ALSO THE STEERING IS OFF IT FEELS LIKE I AM HYDROPLAINING ALL THE TIME AND THAT IT IS WINDY ALL THE TIME. I HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE CAR OVER 55MPH. *TT

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, AN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION OCCURRED AND THE VEHICLE SPEED RAPIDLY INCREASED TO 85 MPH AND ABOVE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL REPEATEDLY AND SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL UNTIL THE SPEED RATE REDUCED TO 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AND THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED FROM NEUTRAL INTO PARK AS THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING UPON A RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER TO THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

2010 TOYOTA COROLLA FIRST EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS JUNE 2010 (CAR PURCHASED MARCH 2010) ON A WARM DAY I.E. 90 DEGREES THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, COASTS TO A STOP. STILL ABLE TO STEER TO GET OFF THE ROAD. WAIT 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND CAR WILL RESTART. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED MY SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, TOTALLY SHOCKED HIM. THE NEXT TIME I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE THROUGH A CONGESTED MOUNTAIN PASS, WAS FORTUNATE THAT NO SEMI TRUCKS WERE DIRECTLY BEHIND ME AND THAT THERE WAS A SHOULDER ON THIS STRETCH. DURING THE NEXT 1 TO 2 MILES THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN 3 MORE TIMES AND EACH TIME WAS ABLE TO COAST OUT OF THE ROADWAY. FINALLY HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. THEY EXAMINED VEHICLE NEXT MORNING AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP ON 2010 AND 2011 TOYOTA COROLLAS IN HEAT AND AT ALTITUDE. ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON A NEW FUEL PUMP. TOYOTA DOES NOT KNOW WHEN A NEW PUMP WILL BE AVAILABLE. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AS YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE ENGINE WILL SHUT DOWN. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. JUST PUT ON FLASHERS AND COAST TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. LAST MONTH, IN JUNE, I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND WAS NOT GOING FAST. I WAS APPROACHING A STEEP HILL AND WANTED TO BRAKE BUT I COULD NOT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ABNORMALLY VEER FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE, WHICH THE DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING.
