GRINDING NOISE COMING OUT OF THE FRONT BRAKES DUE TO WARPAGE IN THE FRONT ROTORS. *TR
1. THIS CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON THE HIGHWAY EVEN WHEN YOU HOLD STEERING WITHOUT MOVING. IT SEEMS VEHICLE SLOWLY, CONSISTENTLY DRIFTS MOSTLY TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. ONE NEEDS TO PAY SO MUCH ATTENTION ON STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN THERE SINCE DAY ONE (8 MILES) AND I REQUESTED TO FIX BEFORE I SIGN THE PAPER WORK BUT NOT HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OTHER THAN CAR WASH. THIS ISSUE STILL EXISTS EVEN AFTER PERFORMING ALIGNMENT DURING OUR FIRST SERVICE VISIT AS I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE. WE BELIEVE IT IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAN STICKY PEDAL AND POSE A POTENTIAL RISK FOR COROLLA OWNERS IF WE CAN NOT CONTROL STEERING. IT HAS POTENTIAL ROAD HAZARD AS THE VEHICLE WANDERS BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT ESPECIALLY WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AND FEELS LIKE CAR WHEELS ARE NOT UNDER CONTROL. WE ARE POSITIVE THAT THESE STEERING/SUSPENSION ISSUES WERE ALSO RAISED ON OTHER 2010 COROLLAS BY A NUMBER OF OWNERS. TOYOTA AND DEALERS MUST BE FULLY AWARE OF THESE CONCERNS BUT FAILED TO DECLARE UP FRONT. DURING OUR SECOND VISIT THEY TOLD US ABOUT TS 1040 AND REPLACED STEERING CONTROL COMPUTER BOARD. SEEMS WANDERING ISSUE IS GONE FOR NOW. BUT TIRES ARE PROBLEM AS I AM HAVING CONCERN FROM THE BEGINNING. 2. I FEEL HUMMING MILD VIBRATION/RESONANCE IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN WE CROSS 50-60 MPH. IT FEELS LIKE TIRES ARE VIBRATING THE STEERING WHEEL. REPLACING COMPUTER CONTROLLER DID NOT FIX MILD VIBRATION OF STEERING. 3. TIRES: AS I HAD DOUBT ABOUT TIRES THIS COULD BE TIRES PROBLEM BUT TOYOTA SERVICE TEAM IS NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT THE FACT. ONCE YOU CROSS 62 MPH YOU CAN CLEARLY FEEL THE TIRE VIBRATION MAINLY IN A STEERING WHEEL AND ALSO ON THE VEHICLE. ROAD FORCE BALANCING HAS BEEN DONE BUT THERE IS NO IMPROVEMENT. I AM NOT SURE IT IS ENGINE RELATED OR TIRES. I HAVE BEEN INSISTING ON REPLACING ANOTHER SET OF BETTER BALANCED TIRES OR DIFFERENT MAKE OF TIRES.
I HAVE A 2010 COROLLA WITH BRAKE ISSUES. WHENEVER I GO OVER A POTHOLE OR OTHER BUMP AT LOW SPEEDS (UNDER 25MPH), THE CAR MAKES A GRINDING 'METAL ON METAL' NOISE. IT FEELS KIND OF LIKE TINGLING UNDER YOUR FOOT... SIMILAR TO A PULSE. THE CAR 'JUMPS FORWARD' A SMALL BIT BEFORE IT SLOWS DOWN TO A STOP. I FIND THE 'JUMPING' ISSUE VERY UNSETTLING. IT IS LIKE THE CAR ACCELERATES SLIGHTLY EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE USING THE BRAKES AND TRYING TO SLOW. THE MAJOR ISSUE IS THAT THE CAR DOES NOT STOP--THE BRAKE PEDAL FEELS DISENGAGED WHILE IT GRINDS AND PULSES. I HAVE HAD MY CAR SERVICED AND THEY TELL ME IT IS THE ABS AND THERE IS NO PROBLEM. BUT OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AS WELL. I HAVE DRIVEN THE 2005 COROLLA MODEL, AS WELL AS OTHER CARS WITH ABS BRAKES, AND NEVER ENCOUNTERED BRAKE ISSUES LIKE THIS. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN MY 2010 COROLLA AND HONESTLY, MAY TRY TO TRADE IT IN EVEN THOUGH I'VE ONLY HAD IT A YEAR AND WOULD BE LOSING A LOT OF MONEY. *TR
THERE WAS NO INCIDENT AS OF THIS DATE HOWEVER THERE COULD BE IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE. MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS A GLITCH IN THE POWER STEERING AND TOYOTA DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON IT IN THE UNITED STATES. I HAVE SEEN AN ARTICLE IN THE PAPER REGARDING TOYOTA RECALLING 185,000 VEHICLES IN JAPAN AND EUROPE DUE TO A POWER STEERING GLITCH. I HAVE SPOKEN TO TOYOTA IN CALIFORNIA ABOUT MY CAR AND MY CONCERN BUT THEY JUST TAKE MY INFORMATION AND SAY THAT THEY'LL PUT IT ON RECORD. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME. I KNOW OF ANOTHER CUSTOMER OF VILLAGE CADILLAC AND TOYOTA IN HOMOSASSA, FLORIDA (WHICH IS WHERE MY CAR WAS SERVICED) HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF MY TOYOTA EXPRESSED A CONCERN ABOUT THE POWER STEERING. I DO KNOW THAT TOYOTA CHANGED THE POWER STEERING TO AN ELECTRICAL TYPE POWER STEERING IN LATE 2009 BUT CHANGED IT BACK TO THEIR OLD SYSTEM BY LATE 2010, THIS TELLS ME THEY KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND THIS IS 2013 AND THERE'S BEEN NO RECALL YET. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FIRST? I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT CRASHED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A SERIOUS INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH 1,900 MILES ON IT, I PURCHASED THE VEH IN THE MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT MY RIGHT ARM WOULD COLLECT STATIC ELECTRICITY WHEN I WOULD PLACE IT ON TOP OF THE CENTER ARM REST/CONSOLE. AT FIRST I WOULD ONLY GET THE STATIC SPARK WHEN I TOUCHED THE METAL FRAME OF MY DOOR, THEN WHEN I ENTERED THE VEHICLE I WOULD ONCE AGAIN COLLECT THE STATIC ELECTRICITY ON MY RIGHT ARM FROM THE CENTER ARM REST/CONSOLE. I BEGAN TO JUST NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE STATIC BUILD UP I WOULD GET UNTIL YESTERDAY DECEMBER 29, 2010. I EXCITED MY VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO OPEN MY GAS COMPARTMENT DOOR, AS I TOUCHED THE COMPARTMENT DOOR, I RECEIVED THE STATIC SPARK. NOW I AM BECOMING CONCERN BECAUSE IT HAPPEN WHEN I TOUCHED THE COMPARTMENT DOOR HAD IT HAPPENED A FEW SECONDS LATER I COULD HAVE BEEN PUMPING GAS. I DROVE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER NEAR MY HOME AND WAS ASKED TO SIT IN ANOTHER 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA AND I ALSO BUILD UP STATIC ELECTRICITY, THEN THEY HAD ME SIT IN A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY AND NOTHING HAPPENED. CLEARLY THE TYPE OF MATERIAL USED ON THE CENTER ARM REST/CONSOLE IS CAUSING THIS STATIC BUILD UP ON MY ARM. THE MATERIAL USED IN THE CAMRY IS NOT CAUSING THIS. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW OF ANY STATIC COMPLAINTS. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOMEONE INVESTIGATE THIS, IT ISN'T SAFE TO GO PUMP GAS WHILE HAVING STATIC ELECTRICITY. I CAN SHOW ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT HOW THE HAIRS ON MY ARM STAND UP ONCE I TOUCH THE CENTER ARM REST/CONSOLE. *TR
VEHICLE PURCHASED WITH 7,418 MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 50MPH AND ABOVE THE VEHICLE WILL WANDER WITHOUT TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTION IS REQUIRED TO KEEP VEHICLE STRAIGHT. VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY OUT OF SYNC WITH VEHICLE WHEELS WHEN DRIVING FROM A STAND STILL AND MOVING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED AND TURNING.
OUR JAPANESE BUILT 2010 COROLLA HAS A DEAD SPOT AT THE TOP OF THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL. AT ALL SPEEDS, WHEN FIRST DEPRESSING THE PEDAL, VERY LITTLE IF ANY BRAKING ACTION OCCURS WITH THE VEHICLE. ONLY AFTER SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE PEDAL WILL THE VEHICLE SLOW. THIS IS ACTUALLY MORE DANGEROUS DURING LOW SPEED DRIVING. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THIS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ADJUSTMENTS MADE, AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAS BEEN FLUSHED WITH NEW FLUID. IT IS STILL AN ISSUE. THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE JAPANESE BUILT CARS. I HAVE TEST DRIVEN 2 CANADIAN BUILT 2010 COROLLAS, AND THE BRAKING FUNCTION IS MUCH BETTER. THE BRAKING COMPONENTS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE BETWEEN THE 2 CARS. I MAINTAIN THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW OF THE JAPANESE BUILT COROLLAS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE EXHIBITED AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN RPMS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES THE RPMS WOULD EITHER DECREASE OR INCREASE RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RPMS WERE OPERATING NORMALLY AND THERE WERE NO REPAIRS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT HE SHOULD CONTACT ANOTHER DEALER FOR A SECOND OPINION ON THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER STATES SEVERAL CONCERNS REGARDING THIS VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AT TIMES WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE LIGHTLY, THEY GRAB ABRUPTLY. AT TIMES, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, HE HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE AMOUNT ACCELERATION DELIVERED TO THE VEHICLE. THE SPEED WOULD INCREASE MORE THAN DESIRED. AT SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MPH, WHEN IN OVERDRIVE, THE ENGINE SPEED WOULD SUDDENLY DROP. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM AND TOYOTA'S RESPONSE WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKED UP AND CAUSED THE ENGINE SPEED TO CHANGE AND THEY RECOMMENDED THE CONSUMER SHIFT TO THIRD GEAR. *JB
Unintended acceleration since purchase of vehicle.
I PURCHASED MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA IN OCTOBER 2010, ABOUT A MONTH LATER I BEGAN NOTICING PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES. PRESSING THE BRAKES THERE IS A SLIGHT ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE, TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR ALSO ACCELERATES BEFORE SLOWING DOWN, I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE ACCELERATION. TO THIS DAY, THE BRAKES STILL REGULARLY ACCELERATE. OTHERS WHO HAVE DRIVEN MY CAR IMMEDIATELY EXPERIENCE THE BRAKE ACCELERATION AND ARE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN THE PROBLEMS BEGAN BUT THEY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEMS (I DID KEEP THE WORK ORDER RECEIPTS), I HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE DEALER RECENTLY. *TR

CAR IS UNSTABLE AND REQUIRES MORE THAN NORMAL CONCENTRATION AND MORE EFFORT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT, AS CAR DOES NOT TRACK STRAIGHT. 3. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER WITH APPROXIMATELY 185 MILES. TEST DROVE WITH TECHNICIAN, WHO SAID IT VEERS SLIGHTLY RIGHT. ALIGNMENT WAS DONE. THE FRONT WAS OFF BY A BIT AND CORRECTED. BUT REAR OF CAR WAS OUT OF SPEC WITH REGARDS TO LEFT AND RIGHT TOE. BASICALLY BOTH REAR WHEELS FACING TOWARDS THE LEFT. TOYOTA DEALER SAID THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. I BRING IN A TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT ADDRESSES ON-CENTER STEERING FEEL. THE DOCUMENT REQUIRES ALIGNMENT DONE, THEN POWER-STEERING ECU REPLACED. MY ECU IS THEN REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP, BUT ALIGNMENT IN REAR IS NOT ADJUSTED, SINCE THE DEALER SAID IT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. THEY GIVE ME BACK THE CAR WITH THE NEW ECU EVEN IF REAR TOE IS OFF ALONG WITH TOTAL REAR CAMBER. THEY ALSO SAY THAT TOTAL REAR TOE IS CORRECT AT .38 DEG, BUT EVEN IF LEFT AND RIGHT REAR TOE IS OFF, AS LONG AS TOTAL REAR TOE IS GOOD, CAR IS WITHIN TOYOTA SPECIFICATIONS AND TOLERANCES. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT. IF LEFT AND RIGHT TOES ARE OFF, THEN CAR IS NOT ALIGNED. RIGHT REAR TOE IS OUT OF SPEC BY .15 DEGREES WHILE LEFT REAR TOE IS OFF BY -.09 DEGREES. I TAKE THE CAR AND DRIVE IT FOR 1 DAY AND A HALF, AND THE CAR VEERS RIGHT ON THE FREEWAY. IF IT HITS A BUMP ON A TURN, IT USUALLY MAKES THE CAR WANT TO JUMP RIGHT. BASICALLY PROVING THAT THE REAR TOE IS OUT OF SPECIFICATIONS. *TR

BASICALLY BOTH REAR WHEELS FACING TOWARDS THE LEFT. TOYOTA DEALER SAID THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. I BRING IN A TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT ADDRESSES ON-CENTER STEERING FEEL. THE DOCUMENT REQUIRES ALIGNMENT DONE, THEN POWER-STEERING ECU REPLACED. MY ECU IS THEN REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP, BUT ALIGNMENT IN REAR IS NOT ADJUSTED, SINCE THE DEALER SAID IT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. THEY GIVE ME BACK THE CAR WITH THE NEW ECU EVEN IF REAR TOE IS OFF ALONG WITH TOTAL REAR CAMBER. THEY ALSO SAY THAT TOTAL REAR TOE IS CORRECT AT .38 DEG, BUT EVEN IF LEFT AND RIGHT REAR TOE IS OFF, AS LONG AS TOTAL REAR TOE IS GOOD, CAR IS WITHIN TOYOTA SPECIFICATIONS AND TOLERANCES. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT. IF LEFT AND RIGHT TOES ARE OFF, THEN CAR IS NOT ALIGNED. RIGHT REAR TOE IS OUT OF SPEC BY .15 DEGREES WHILE LEFT REAR TOE IS OFF BY -.09 DEGREES. I AM WRITING ON BEHALF OF MY MOTHER WHO WAS INJURED IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT ON NOVEMBER 16, 2010. MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING A LOANER CAR PROVIDED BY A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP LOCATED IN SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK. WHEN MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE OFF THE CAR LOT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND SHE HIT AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. MY MOTHER SURFFERED A FRACTURED STERNUM AND WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR 4 DAYS. ON FEBRUARY 8, 2011, THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED FOR DEFECTS BY TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, USA. THE CONCLUSION WAS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING PROPERLY AND, THERE WAS NO MALFUNCTIONS NOTED. PRIOR TO THE INSPECTION BY TOYOTA, MY NEPHEW LOCATED THIS SAME VEHICLE ON LINE, USING THE VIN#, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, AND THE ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. I AM ASKING THAT YOUR AGENCY INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS SOME DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE CURRENT INSPECTION AND THE PREVIOUS FACTS/ACCIDENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VEHICLE. MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA STEERING IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE CAR WANDERS AROUND THE ROAD. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE ALIGNMENT. DESPITE AN ALIGNMENT SERVICE, THE STEERING IS STILL VERY DIFFICULT AND EXHAUSTING. THE WANDERING, CORRECTIVE STEERING MEASURES THAT HAVE TO BE TAKEN AND CONSTANT VIGILANCE WHEN DRIVING ARE EXHAUSTING. IT IS A DIFFICULT CAR TO DRIVE, PARTICULARLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH NARROW ROADS AND AT THE HIGHER CRUISING SPEEDS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE SHOWROOM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH THE CONTACT WAS REAR ENDED WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN. UPON IMPACT THE CONTACT TRIED TO PUMP HER BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SURGE FORWARD. THE CONTACT TRIED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND IT CONTINUED TO SURGE FORWARD INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SHE RECEIVED MINOR ABRASIONS AND WAS SEEN WENT BY HER PERSONAL DOCTOR THE FOLLOWING DAY. A POLICE WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.

AFTER THEY FINISHED WITH CALL I HAD TO ASK ABOUT MY BRAKE COMPLAINT THE MAN SAID NOTHING WRONG,I TOLD HIM THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I USED BRAKES BUT FREQUENTLY.ALSO I WAS NOT USING CAR ALOT DUE TO INJURY. I'M NOT SURE ABOUT EXACT MILES OR TIME FRAME BUT I WAS STILL UNDER MY 2 YEAR FREE SERVICE PLAN. THEN A MONTH AFTER MY SERVICE PLAN ENDED I HAD CAR SERVICED, I COMPLAINED AGAIN ABOUT BRAKES, AFTER THEY FINISHED WITH MY CAR, I HAD TO ASK AGAIN ABOUT MY BRAKES THE MAN SAID "OH,THEY NEED TO BE CHANGED BUT IT CAN WAIT TO NEXT SERVICE TIME AND YOU WILL NEED TIRES THEN. I GOT BRAKES CHANGED AT LOCAL BRAKE SHOP, EVEN AFTER THAT, I STILL HAVE TIMES BRAKES GRIND ETC...BRAKES CHANGED A YEAR AGO AND THE GRINDING GETTING WORSE. I JUST DRIVE TO TAKE SON TO AND FROM SCHOOL AND BALL, DOCTOR APPTS.MY OLDER SON WENT TO GET GROCERIES FOR ME YESTERDAY HE SAID MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKING. I HAVE A TOYOTA COROLLA 2010,I HAD IT SINCE JUNE 2010, . I WENT THROUGH A MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT ON HW 1 CA @ 8:45 AM ON TUESDAY WHICH WAS A SUNNY, CLEAR , NOT FOGGY NOR RAINY DAY (WEATHER CONDITION WAS PERFECT),I WAS DRIVING ON 63 MPH (NORMAL SPEED IS 65) ON THE FAST LEFT LANE AND SUDDENLY I FELT THAT THE LEFT FRONT TIRE IS VEERING THE CAR INTO A DIFFERENT DIRECTION ACTING AS IF IT BELOW UP (BUT IT DIDN'T) AND MY CAR IS VEERING TO THE LEFT , MY STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND IS NOT RESPONDING AT ALL WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE THE CAR DIRECTIONTO THE RIGHT. THERE WAS NO WAY TO DRIVE THE CAR IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED COMPLETELY TO RESPOND TO ANY ATTEMPT TO TURN IT TO THE RIGHT IN AN ATTEMPT TO GAIN CONTROL OVER THE CAR AND ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE IT IN STRAIGHT LINE. BRAKES AS WELL WERE NOT RESPONDING. ALL ATTEMPTS TO STOP THE CAR OR TURN IT TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID BUMPING THE RAILS AND KEEP IT STRAIGHT IN THE LANE FAILED. I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OVER THE CAR & IT STARTED FISHTAILING IN THE FRONT. THE CAR DIDN'T STOP UNTIL IT BUMPED INTO THE GUARDING RAIL, AT THIS MOMENT THE CAR JUST STOPPED AND IT TOOK THE CAR MORE THAN 20 FEED TO AUTOMATICALLY STOP BY IT SELF. I FAILED TO STOP IT.AT THIS MOMENT THE CAR CORRECTED ITS DIRECTION &WENT IN STRAIGHT LINE DIRECTION SCRUBBING AGAINST THE RAIL COMPLETELY DAMAGING THE ENTIRE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR BEFORE IT STALL. THEN ALL THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS AND CAR SOUNDS WENT ON AND THE CAR STALLED. THE CAR WAS NOT IN A DRIVABLE CONDITION SO I HAD TO TOW IT AWAY. I HAVE A WITNESS WHO DESCRIBED MY ACCIDENT SAYING THAT MY CAR KEPT SWERVING TO THE LEFT & WAS AMBIGUOUSLY UNCONTROLLED, HE WAS THE ONE THAT TOOK CARE OF ME AFTER THE CAR BUMPED THE RAIL. THIS ACCIDENT IS A LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT ALSO FOR OTHERS ON THE HW. MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA CONTINUES TO HAVE ACCELERATION ISSUES. NOW IT ACCELERATES WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON TO SPEEDS OVER 100/110 MPH. I HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR FROM VERMONT TO CALIFORNIA, AND USED MY CRUISE CONTROL FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 75 TO 80 MPH IN AREAS AND I SET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO 72. THE NEXT THING I NEW, THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD ON ITS OWN & WENT COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. IT WENT TO SPEEDS OF 100- 120 MPH WITHIN 1-2 MINUTES AND I COULD HARDLY CONTROL THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN IN 3-4 ACCELERATION INCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE ALREADY AND BEEN INJURED (THE REPORTS I HAVE ALREADY FILED WITH YOUR AGENCY THIS PAST YEAR). THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO, AND HAVE HAD IMMENSE PROBLEMS STEERING IT. ONCE I HIT 35-40 MILES PER HOUR, IT BECOMES INCREDIBLY STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO STEER. HIGHWAY MILES ARE THE MOST DIFFICULT, AND IT TAKES AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF EFFORT TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT. IT IS NOW NEARLY A MONTH LATER, AND WE STILL HAVE NOT BEEN "VISITED" BY THE TOYOTA ENGINEERING TEAM. WE WERE ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER BY TOYOTA AND TOLD TO WAIT TO HEAR FROM THEM. WE ARE STILL WITHOUT OUR CAR AND WAITING SOME KIND OF FORMAL INSPECTION FROM THE TOYOTA CORPORATE TEAM. THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER IS TRYING TO HELP AS WELL AND IS ALSO CONTACTING TOYOTA CORPORATE FOR ASSISTANCE. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO BE WITHOUT OUR CAR AND SOME REASSURANCE FROM TOYOTA THAT THIS WON'T HAPPENED AGAIN TO OUR CAR. AS OF THIS DATE OCTOBER 1, 2010, NO INSPECTION HAS TAKEN PLACE ON OUR CAR. 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER WRITES TO EXPRESS CONCERN REGARDING THE ENGINE SURGE PROBLEM *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AS SHE WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE BEGAN RACING. HER FOOT WAS ALREADY ON THE BRAKE, BUT SHE HAD TO INCREASE BRAKE PRESSURE AND PLACED THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL, THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLES ALARM HAD SUDDENLY ACTIVATED, SECONDS LATER THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO TURN TO THE RIGHT CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A DITCH. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 9243.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHEN THE CONTACT DROVE THROUGH A RED LIGHT AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ABRUPTLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS SPUN AROUND, THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE DUE TO A MINOR NECK INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED AN INVESTIGATOR TO FURTHER INSPECT THE FAILURE. THE INVESTIGATOR FOUND THAT BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH DAMAGE TO THE ROCKER PANEL AND THE B PILLAR, THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE WHERE THEY INSPECTED THE SUSPENSION AND RE BALANCING THE TIRES BUT THE VIBRATION CONTINUED. THE DEALER STATED THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000.

THE CONTACT ABRUPTLY APPLIED THE BRAKES AND MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN AS THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER YET THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER MADE MODIFICATIONS TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BY SHAVING IT DOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) WHERE A REINFORCEMENT BAR WAS INSTALLED. I OWNED A 2009 COROLLA AND THE ACCELERATOR SURGED IN CHARLOTTE N.C, IN MARCH OF 2010. I TRADED FOR A 2010 COROLLA, THIS CAR HAS AS SERIOUS PROBLEMS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MY INSURANCE AGENT TWICE LAST WEEK, ASKING IF HE HAD ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT STEERING CONTROL. THIS CAR, AT SPEEDS OF 45MPH AND UP MOVES ABOUT THE LANE ABRUPTLY AND IS NOT EASY TO CORRECT. IT IS REALLY EASY TO OVERCORRECT. THE CAR FEELS AS IF THERE IS LOTS OF PLAY IN THE STEERING AND MOVES TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. IT IS A CONSTANT ORDEAL TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. LAST WEEK I PULLED OVER ALONGSIDE I85 IN SALISBURY N.C.
