I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE SELLING DEALER TWICE AND AN ADDITIONAL DEALER ONCE. I TOOK IT IN FOR WHAT I DEEM AS UNSAFE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WANDERS EVEN WHEN HOLDING THE WHEEL LOCKED STRAIGHT WITH BOTH HANDS. THE DEALERS CHECKED ALIGNMENT AND SAID ITS THE NATURE OF THE ELECTRONIC STEERING. MY WIFE WONT DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF HOW IT FEELS. *TR
I HAVE OWNED MY NEW 2010 COROLLA FOR SIX MONTHS. TODAY, MY TECHNICIAN FOUND THE CRANK SENSOR WAS LEAKING OIL. TOYOTA DEALER WILL EXAMINE MY CAR THIS EVENING. I SEE THAT IN 2006, THIS TOYOTA PART WAS RECALLED ON THE ECHO. I AM SUSPICIOUS THAT THIS LATER MODEL IS FAILING IN THE SAME WAY.
OUR 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING IN A HEAVY CROSS WIND. THE DEALER SAYS IT IS THE ROAD BUT WE DRIVE APPROX. 3000 MILES A MONTH ON A LOT OF DIFFERENT ROADS AND IS THE SAME. *TR
2010 TOYOTA COROLLA LE. STEERING ISSUES AS NOTED BY OTHERS - GOING STRAIGHT/STAYING IN LANE, PULLS TO EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT AND WANDERS, FLOATS, FEELS LIKE A WIND GUST HITTING THE CAR ETC. AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ALTHOUGH IT IS MORE NOTICEABLE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40MPH. THIS CAUSES AN UNSTABLE FEELING AND NEED FOR DRIVER TO CORRECT. CAR WAS PURCHASED ON 3/31 AND I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT THIS TIME. MAKING ARRANGEMENTS TO DO SO. CAR HAS LESS THAN 400 MILES. HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS FROM THE TIME OF PURCHASE. *TR

2010 TOYOTA COROLLA - WHEN YOU GO HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT STEERS ITSELF. I ALMOST HIT A BUS TODAY. ITS HAD THIS STEERING ISSUE SINCE THE PURCHASE DATE. I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED AT THE VERO BEACH,FL TOYOTA DEALER TWICE BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. *CN
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE CAR DRIFTS UNPREDICTABLY AND SUDDENLY, WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE. I HAVE NOTICED THIS AS AN ISSUE SINCE SOON AFTER PURCHASING IT IN JULY 2009. AS A RESULT OF THESE STEERING ISSUES, I HAVE OFTEN COME FRIGHTENINGLY CLOSE TO CARS IN THE LANES ON EITHER SIDE OF ME, AND I AM AFRAID THAT THIS WILL ACTUALLY CAUSE A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE.

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT THE DEALER UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V338000: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: POWER ASSIST: VACUUM). TEN DAYS FOLLOWING THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 25 MPH AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THEY DID NOT ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING AN INVESTIGATION OF THE FAILURE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 7,500.
I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY. THE STEERING IS VERY SENSITIVE AND I CANNOT KEEP IT ON THE ROAD IF OVER 65 MPH. IT FEELS LIKE YOUR ARE HYDROPLANING, THE WIND IS BLOWING YOU ALL OVER THE ROAD. MY BOYFRIEND FOLLOWED ME HOME AND SAID IT LOOK LIKE I WAS DOING DWI ON I-95. IF THE WIND BLOWS JUST A LITTLE BIT, YOU ARE ALL OVER THE ROAD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THE SALESMAN EXPLAINED IT WAS ELECTRICAL STEERING AND I WILL GET USE TO IT. THE SECOND TIME WAS WITH THE TECHNICIAN WHO WOULDN'T GO WITH ME ON THE I-95 AND TWICE THE ALIGNMENT. THE 3RD TIME 2 DAYS LATER AND THAT IS WHEN THEY COULDN'T HELP ME AND SAID THEY LOGGED IT WITH TOYOTA. I AM VERY MAD AND UPSET. I FEEL I PURCHASED MY CAR IN GOOD FAITH AND NOW I AM STUCK WITH A CAR COSTING $353 AMONTH FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS, THAT IS A CHORE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS MY 3RD TOYOTA IN 20 YEARS. I AM VERY UPSET BECAUSE I DIDN'T DRIVE ANY OTHER VEHICLE BEFORE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I TRUSTED TOYOTA. S10 APPROPRIATE HANDLING RE TOYOTA VEHICLE PROBLEMS.*TGW THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE PEDAL ASSEMBLY, BUT THE CONSUMER IS STILL AFRAID TO LET HER DAUGHTERS DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE, IT HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY.
I TRADED IN MY 2009 COROLLA LE AND PURCHASED A 2010 COROLLA LE TWO WEEKS AGO. WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, I AM HAVING A VERY DIFFICULT TIME KEEPING THE CAR FROM WANDERING. IT FEELS VERY MUCH LIKE I AM DRIVING IN A STRONG CROSS WIND ALTHOUGH THIS OCCURS DURING ALL WIND CONDITIONS. THIS CAR IS EXACTLY LIKE THE CAR I TRADED IN EXCEPT THAT MY OLD CAR DIDN'T HAVE THIS STEERING ISSUE. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM TOYOTA ABOUT A FIX AND THAT THEY WERE CERTAIN THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX MY PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD TO INQUIRE AGAIN WHEN I BRING MY CAR IN FOR IT'S 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGE. HOPEFULLY I'LL STILL BE ALIVE TO COMPLAIN AT THAT TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA LE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V023000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL). THE VERY NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER A CURB WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING AT AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL UNCONTROLLABLY BEGAN VEERING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WITHOUT DRIVER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO REPAIRS AVAILABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE OWNER STATED THAT HE WOULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE OVER 1700 MILES. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 3,437.
WE PURCHASED A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. WE DID NOT NOTICE THE POWER STEERING PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK THE POWER STEERING WOULD START FLOATING WHEN THE WHEEL WOULD BE STRAIGHT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHT THE VEHICLE FLOATS INTO OTHER LANES AND ONTO THE SHOULDER. I HAVE TAKEN IT TWICE TO THE DEALERSHIP NOW JUST TO BE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE IS WITHIN THEIR REQUIREMENTS AND THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. THEY REFUSE TO ADMIT THAT SOMETHING MAY BE WRONG AND STATE THAT THE COROLLA NOW HAS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WHICH IS WHY IT FEELS THAT WAY. NO CAR SHOULD STEER YOU OFF THE ROADWAY WHEN IT IS DRIVING STRAIGHT. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED YET AND NO ACCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY KEEP CORRECTING THE WHEEL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP TO SPEEDS OF 86 MPH. SHE WAS ABLE TO DECREASE SPEED BY DEACTIVATING THE CRUISE CONTROL AND APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT ASSUMED IT WAS CAUSED BY DRIVER ERROR. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT SHE HAD PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED RECALL REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 10V017000 AND 10V023000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) AND HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED INCIDENTS OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BEFORE THE REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 11,850.
IN SEPT OF 2009 I BOUGHT A NEW 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. I HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH IT UNTIL LAST MONDAY MARCH 22. THREE WEEKS THEY INSTALLED THE RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. MONDAY MARCH 22 I TOOK MY WIFE TO DUKE MEDICAL CENTER FOR AN APPOINTMENT,. I PULLED INTO THE PARKING DECK AND REACHED FOR A PARKING TICKET SUDDENLY THE CARS MOTOR REVVED UP ALL ON ITS OWN. MY FOOT WAS ONTHE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME, I NEVER TOUCHED THE GAS PEDAL. I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND THE MOTOR WAS GOING REAL FAST. I CUT IT OFF AND PUT IT INTO PARK. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON IT STILL WAS GOING FAST. I CUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT THIS TIME IT WAS RUNNING NORMAL. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOWED IT IN. THEY KEPT OVER NIGHT AND SAID THEY WERE CALLING TOYOTA. NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND SAID IT WAS READY THAT TOYOTA GAVE IT A BILL OF HEALTH. THE BRAKES HELD OTHER WISE THE OUT COME COULD HAVE BEEN BAD. I DO NOT IF THEY FOUND ANYTHING WRONG OR NOT. *TR
MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA PULLS LIKE THE ALIGNMENT IS OFF BUT ON BOTH SIDES REGARDLESS OF ROAD GRADE. GALE TOYOTA OF ENFIELD, CT WERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FIRST SAID IT JUST NEEDED TO BE BROKEN IN, THEN WHEN THEY WERE FIXING THE ACCELERATION RECALL I TOLD THEM IT'S STILL THERE THEY SAID THAT'S NORMAL, FINALLY THEY DID THE ALIGNMENT AND SAID ITS FINE. STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. AS I RITE THIS, LYNCH TOYOTA OF MANCHESTER ACTUALLY TEST DROVE IT AND CONFIRMED THAT THE CAR IS ALMOST UN-DRIVABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TWO HANDS ARE NEEDED AT ALL TIMES OVER 40MPH. I WILL SEE WHAT THEY COME UP WITH WHEN I RETURN TO PICK THE CAR UP TODAY. THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING AND CONSTANT REGARDLESS OF THE DATE OF INDECENT ENTERED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE RPMS BEGAN TO INCREASE WHEN THE FLOOR MAT TRAPPED UNDERNEATH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PEDALS WERE ENGAGED THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE FLOOR MAT RELEASED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE AND THE SPEED DECREASED. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. PREVIOUSLY NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V023000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,040. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,095.
.THE STEERING ON MY 2010 COROLLA IS HARD TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT IS WANDERING ON THE ROAD AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO CORRECT. THE PROBLEM IS MUCH WORSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ABOVE 60MPH. DRIVING THE CAR IN CROSSWINDS IS DIFFICULT AND SCARY DUE TO THE "FLOATING" FEEL OF THE STEERING. *DT
I JUST BOUGHT A NEW 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. UPON TAKING IT UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED THE FIRST TIME I NOTED A "DRIFTING" IN THE STEERING THAT SEEMED UNUSUAL (CAR RIDES FINE FOR A WHILE THEN DRIFTS RIGHT OR LEFT CAUSING YOU TO OVER STEER IT BACK). I DROVE IT FOR THE REST OF THE DAY AND THE NEXT DAY AND AM CERTAIN THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE STEERING. THE DEALER SAID IT IS THE NEW ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING BUT IT SURE SEEMS UNSTEADY. SOMETHING IS WRONG AND THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
MY TOYOTA COROLLA 2010 MODEL ACCELERATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHEN I WAS BACKING UP MY CAR. I SHIFTED THE GEAR TO REVERSE AND RELEASE THE BRAKE, AND EVEN BEFORE I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR MY CAR BACKED UP AS IF I HAVE PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REAL HARD. I HAD TO BRAKE REAL HARD TO GET THE CAR UNDER CONTROL. SINCE I WAS IN A BIG EMPTY PARKING LOT NO DAMAGE WAS DONE. *TR
APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AGO, MY 2010 COROLLA SURGED FORWARD APPROXIMATELY 6-8 FEET AFTER I PLACED IN PARK IN MY WORK PARKING LOT. THE TACHOMETER WENT TO ABOVE 2000 RPMS, AND THE CARS SPEED WENT OVER 20 MPH BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO JAM ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE BRAKE OR THE GAS PEDAL. I ALMOST HIT A TREE. MY HEAD WAS THRUST BACKWARDS. THREE HOURS LATER THE PARAMEDICS HAD TO COME TO MY OFFICE AND RUSH ME TO THE HOSPITAL AS I HAD A TIA AS A RESULT. THIS IS THE THIRD ACCELERATION INCIDENT WITH MY VEHICLE SINCE FEBRUARY 12TH. THE DEALERSHIP HAS EVEN HAD A SPECIALIST LOOK AT MY CAR, AND THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY BECAUSE OF THE ABOVE INCIDENT. THE GENERAL SERVICE MANAGER SAID TO ME QUOTE UNQUOTE "WE CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR VEHICLE, AND CAN NOT VERIFY YOUR COMPLAINT. YOU HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO US FOUR TIMES FOR THIS SAME ACCELERATION PROBLEM AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR CAR. WE HAVE NOT CHARGED YOU ANY OF THESE TIMES. IF YOU BRING IT TO US AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO BILL YOU FOR OUR TIME. THEY ALSO CHARGED ME FOR THE RENTAL CAR TODAY. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE MEDIA IS BLOWING THIS WAY OUT OF PROPORTION, AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ANY OF THE TOYOTA VEHICLES. HE SAID THE PROBLEM IS ONE OF TWO THINGS. I ASKED HIM WHAT THOSE TWO THINGS WERE. HE STATED THAT THEY ARE THE DRIVERS ARE BAD DRIVERS AND THE OTHER IS IT IS FRAUD. SO I SAID ARE YOU IMPLYING I AM A LIER OR A BAD DRIVER AND HE REFUSED TO ANSWER. I THEN SAID I AM NEITHER OF THE TWO AND THAT I RESENTED THE IMPLICATION TO BOTH. I TOLD HIM MY CAR IS A DEATH MOBILE AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND ALSO THAT I HAD BEEN HURT 3 OR 4 TIMES ALREADY.
LTR FWD EMAIL FM (OH) RE RECENT MEDIA ATTENTION RE TOYOTA BRAKING AND SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, FM OWNER OF A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. *TGW THE CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FOR HER 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, AND IS NOW CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY.
I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN SOME ISSUES REPORTED ON POWER STEERING IN 2010 COROLLAS, AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED SOMETHING LIKE THIS. WE HAVE NOTICED "WANDERING" WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY QUITE OFTEN. IT WILL WANDER ONE DIRECTION AND THEN WHEN YOU STRAIGHTEN IT BACK OUT, IT WILL DO IT AGAIN. IT WILL GO BOTH DIRECTIONS, SO IT'S NOT ALIGNMENT. I DECIDED TO PAY VERY CAREFUL ATTENTION LAST TIME I DROVE IT. WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEED OF 60MPH, I WAS HEADING STRAIGHT, ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTEN UP A LITTLE AND THEN THE WHEEL ITSELF TURNED ABOUT 1 INCH FROM WHERE I WAS HOLDING IT. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN ABOUT A 5 MILE STRETCH AND THEN IT STOPPED. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE ISSUES WITH IT THE REST OF MY TRIP, WHICH WAS ABOUT 160 MILES. I HAVE CALLED OUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN SO THEY COULD INSPECT. I GOT IT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND ONLY A FEW MILES WERE PUT ON AND THEY CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG, SO WE HAVE NOT HAD ANYTHING DONE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. *TR

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA XLE. I HAVE NOTICED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER NORMALLY. APPARENTLY THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IS OVERSENSITIVE OR SOMETHING BECAUSE YOU CANNOT KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT WITH NORMAL STEERING INPUT. IF A HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER WERE TO FOLLOW THIS CAR FOR ANY DISTANCE, HE WOULD THINK THE DRIVER WAS IMPAIRED. I HAVE OWNED TOYOTA VEHICLES FOR 20 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN VERY SATISFIED, BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE DRIVING IN THE CITY AT 30-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT WHEN SHE TOOK HER FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL; IT WOULD SLOW DOWN AS WELL AS IF THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, THE ABS WOULD SUDDENLY ACTIVATE. THE ODOMETER AT SOME POINT CHANGED FROM DISPLAYING MILES WITH 10THS AND ONLY DISPLAYS FULL NUMBER MILES, I THINK IT WAS AFTER I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE ALARM BUTTON ON THE REMOTE KEY THAT IT CHANGED BUT I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. I ALSO BELIEVE THE CAR'S COMPUTER WAS NOT PROPERLY SET UPON DELIVERY, OR THEY PUT IN A SOFTWARE UPGRADE WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE INVOICE SHOWS THEY DID A COMPUTER RESET. TOYOTA 2010 COROLLA BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WENT ON , WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. I HAD DIFFICULTY TO SLOW DOWN IN BUSY TRAFFIC, BECAUSE EVEN I HIT THE BRAKES IT DOES NOT CUT THE GAS SO THE ENGINE STILL TRIES TO RUN AND THE CAR STILL TENDS TO GO, SO I AM NOT ABLE TO SLOW DOWN OR IT TAKES TIME TO SLOW DOWN.
