WE HAVE PURCHASED NEW 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA S MODEL IN NOVEMBER 2009. WE NOTICED WIGGLING AND UNSTABLE FEEL IN STEERING WHEEL. WE THOUGHT SINCE WE HAD OTHER LUXURY CAR BEFORE, WE ARE JUST NOT USE TO DRIVING A CHEAPER CAR. BUT AS TIMES GO BY, IT IS GOING OUT OF ITS DRIVING LANE UNCONTROLLABLY. WE REALLY HAVE TO HOLD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHT TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT. *TR
I HAVE A TOYOTA COROLLA SPORT 2010. IT IS DIFFICULT TO STEER STRAIGHT, VEHICLE GOES SIDE TO SIDE, MAKING IT MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, ESPECIALLY IN HIGHWAYS. I WENT TO THE CAR DEALER (TOYOTA) TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE PEDAL AND THEY SAID THE IS WORKING ACCORDING HOW THE MANUFACTURE EXPECTS. *TR
AFTER READING ABOUT THE TOYOTA COROLLA STEERING PROBLEMS, I WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT OF MY OWN. I HAVE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM OF FEELING LIKE WIND WHIPPING MY CAR AROUND ON THE FREEWAY ALMOST DAILY SINCE I LEASED MY NEW 2010 COROLLA IN NOVEMBER 2009. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS THE WAY THE LOS ANGELES AREA ROADS ARE PAVED BUT AFTER READING OTHER OWNERS' SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN THE NEWS, I AM SURE THAT THIS IS WHAT IS CAUSING ME TO FEEL LIKE I HAVE DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING MY CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
WE HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH STEERING PROBLEM. CAR WANDERS FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AT HIGH SPEED OVER 50 MPH. NO ACCIDENTS, BUT SCARY TO GET ON FREEWAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPLACED ON FEBRUARY 18, 2010. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HE ATTEMPTED TO STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE RMPS INCREASED AND DECREASED WHEN THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND LUNGE FORWARD. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TWICE AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER CONTACTED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A RENTAL VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,589 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,590. UPDATED 4/7/2010 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WHEN SUDDENLY SHE FELT A SURGE WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER STATED HE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WHERE IT WOULD ACTIVATE FOR NO REASON. UPDATED 06/10/10*JB
I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR "DRIFTS" , AT LOWER SPEEDS IT DOES NOT OCCUR. THIS ISSUE IS VERY MUCH A CONCERN AS AT EXPRESSWAY SPEEDS IT SEEMS THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE, EFFECTING THE STABILITY AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
RENTAL CAR, TOYOTA COROLLA IN LOS ANGELES WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER. AS I WAS GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MILES PER HOUR IT WAS AS IF I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A WIND STORM. THE CAR WOULD NOT MAINTAIN LANE VERY WELL AND THE STEERING WHEEL TRAVEL REQUIRED TO KEEP IT IN LINE WAS EXCESSIVE. THE WHEEL POSITION HAD TO BE MAINTAINED NOT WITH SLIGHT MOVEMENT BUT SWEEPING MOVEMENTS FROM POSITIONS ABOUT 10 TO 2 ON A CLOCK FACE. DUE TO ONLY USING THE CAR TO DRIVE FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL AND BACK, MOST OF MY DRIVING WAS HIGHWAY ON SMOOTH ROADS WITH NO ADVERSE WEATHER OR TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. *TR
I PULLED OUT OF A GAS STATION. THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I STEERED BACK INTO THE GAS STATION AND STOPPED BY GOING INTO A SNOW BANK. I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE CAR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA AND I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER. THEY TOLD ME NOT TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED BY THE LOCAL TOYOTA. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY HOUSE. AFTER REPEATED PHONE CALLS. NO ONE HAS LOOKED AT IT SINCE. *TR
THE CAR WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON FEBRUARY 15 BY ME AND I REPORTED THE CAR PULLING TO THE RIGHT AS INTO TRAFFIC IF I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE MANUFACTURE KEPT THE CAR FOR TWO HOURS, RETURNED IT TO ME CLAIMING SOMETHING IN THE BRAKES WERE NOT LINED UP, BUT CLAIMED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED AND THE BRAKES HAD BEEN "LUBRICATED". FEBRUARY 17, 2010 THE BRAKES RELEASED AFTER BEING APPLIED TO AVOID HITTING A CAR AHEAD OF MY CAR WHO HAD SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. I REAPPLIED THE BRAKES AND HEARD AN EXTREAMLY LOUD NOISE COMMING FROM MY COROLLA, THEN THE BRAKES CAUGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR AND FINALLY STOPPED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 35-40MPH AROUND A CURVE, I HAS PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDEL TO REDUCE SPEED AN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND, BUT ACCELERATED IN SPEED WHILE STEERING BECAME INPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL, IT WAS IF THE VEHIICLE WAS CONTROLLING IT SELF. I HAD BEEN DROVE INTO AN THROUGH A DITCH AN OUT, HITTING A MAILBOX, CONCRETE LINED DRIVEWAY EXITING THE FIRST DITCH AN ENTERING ANOTHER ALSO HITTNG A STREET SIGN AS WELL AS A MILE MARKER SIGN, MY SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK WHICH LEAD MY HEAD TO REPEATEDLY HIT THE TOP OF VEHICLES WINDSHIELD AS WELL AS THE STEERING WHEEL. FUTHERMORE THE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. I SUFFER FROM SEVER HEADACHES, MY VISION IN LT EYE ALTHOUGH INPROVED HAS GREATLY DECREASED, AS WELL AS MEMORY.
IN AN FAUX-ARTICLE AD IN FLORIDA TODAY, A LOCAL FLORIDA SPACE COAST DAILY NEWSPAPER ON 2/12, A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER STATES THAT: "EVERY VEHICLE ON THE DEALERSHIPS LOT IS FULLY QUALIFIED FOR SALE. ANY NEEDED REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE..." IT GOES ON TO STATE: "IN THE MEANTIME, SALES CONTINUE ON TOYOTA'S FULL LINE OF VEHICLES. THOSE AFFECTED BY THE RECALL WERE FIXED QUICKLY, THANKS TO SWIFT DELIVERY OF NEEDED PARTS BY TOYOTA." THE AD THEN EXPLAINS HOW OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING DRIVEN CAN MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE THEM FIXED "WITHIN THE NEXT 90 DAYS". THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! TOYOTA IS MAKING STATEMENTS THAT THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST, THE CEO LOOKS LIKE HE'S ABOUT TO FALL ON HIS SWORD... YET THEY ARE REPAIRING VEHICLES ON THE DEALERSHIP'S LOT TO PREPARE THEM FOR POSSIBLE SALE BEFORE THEY REPAIR CUSTOMER'S VEHICLES THAT ARE BEING DRIVEN EVERY DAY??? THAT REALLY MAKES IT SEEM LIKE TOYOTA'S FIRST PRIORITY IS ITS CUSTOMER'S SAFETY AND SATISFACTION, HUH? MY MOTHER-IN-LAW DRIVES A 2010 COROLLA. I CALLED THE DEALER SHE PURCHASED IT FROM AND ASKED IF THEY WERE SELLING NEW COROLLA'S AT SIGNIFICANT DISCOUNTS. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY WERE. I ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL SITUATION, AND WAS INFORMED THAT IF THE CAR I SELECTED HADN'T BEEN REPAIRED YET, THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT WHILE I WAITED. I THEN ASKED IF MY RELATIVES COULD BRING THEIR COROLLA IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD: "NO, WE ARE WORKING ON CAMRY'S FIRST. WE ONLY HAVE ENOUGH PARTS TO FIX THE COROLLAS WE HAVE ON THE LOT." HOW CAN THEY FIX INVENTORY BEFORE ADDRESSING CUSTOMER VEHICLES??? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, HE NOTICETHAT THE METRIC POWER STEERING DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO LUNGE FORWARD AND THE CONTACT HAD TO CORRECT THE STEERING WHEEL SO IT WOULD MOVE OUT OF THE LANE. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND IN THAT WAY. HE HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO DATE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 120.
I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA THAT HAS RIGHT AT 4000 MILES ON IT. AT ANY HIGHWAY SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH, THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. AT FIRST I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE THE CAR IS SO SMALL THAT THE WIND WAS MOVING IT AROUND ON THE ROAD. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR OVER A MONTH NOW, IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I AM ON THE INTERSTATE. YOU HAVE TO WORK TO GET THE CAR TO STAY CENTERED IN YOUR LANE, OR LOOK AS THOUGH YOU ARE A DRUNK DRIVER SWERVING FROM CENTER LINE TO SHOULDER. THIS ISSUE HAS MADE ME THINK TWICE ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR. I ALSO JUST READ THAT TOYOTA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. I BOUGHT THIS NEW CAR FOR RELIABILITY AND NOW I AM CONCERNED WHETHER OR NOT I SHOULD EVEN BEING PUTTING IT ON THE ROAD AND PUTTING OTHER PEOPLE AT RISK. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS WHETHER IT BE AT THE HANDS OF TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. OR THE NHTSA. EITHER RECALL THE COROLLAS PARTS OR GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK THAT I PAID FOR A RELIABLE CAR THAT IN FACT IS NOT RELIABLE AFTER ALL. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR ON MONDAY 2/15/2010, FROM DICK MILHAM TOYOTA IN EASTEN P.A. THERE IS A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING, AT SPEEDS OVER 50MPH YOU REALLY NEED TWO HANDS TO STEER THE CAR. I TRAVEL OVER 192 MILES A DAY AND IM VERY WORRIED ABOUT THIS. I AM GOING TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALER TO SEE IF THEY WILL TAKE THE CAR BACK, I HOPE YOU ARE GOING TO INVESTIGATE THESE PROBLEMS AND FORCE TOYOTA TO FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 10V023000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ACCORDINGLY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE REPAIR SINCE THE DEALER ONLY REPLACED THE WASHER IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO REQUEST A NEW ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,467. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,000.
WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN CONTACTED...THIS IS RIDICULOUS..10 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND NONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN FIXED...THIS WAS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE THAT NEVER SHOD HAVE BEEN ON THE ROAD..TOTAL LOSES OF VEHICLE..WHERE IS THE WARRANTY?.. THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER MY ACCIDENT AND I WAS TOLD THEREFORE THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE LOCATED FOR INVESTIGATION.. I WANT SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS..!
TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE..POLICE REPORT IS INCOMPLETE OF DETAILS, DUE TO OFFICER "NOT BELIEVING ME" AND "PURPOSELY LEAVING REPORT INCOMPLETE BECAUSE OF THIS BEING THE SECOND TIME OUT HERE ON THIS CALL", WHEN I TRIED TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING THIS TOYOTA COROLLA, HOWEVER THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER IS A WITNESS AND AGREED TO TESTIFY..I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE GOT NOTHING.. PROPERTY DAMAGE WAS DONE ON THIRD PARTY PROPERTY AS WELL.
TOTAL LOSE ACCIDENT IN EVANSVILLE, IN. ACCELERATION INCREASE, NO BRAKES, NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND SEATBELT NEVER LOCKED!! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS NOW AN I WANT SOMETHING DONE.. ALL I GET IS PUT ON HOLD..!
MULTIPLE INCIDENTS... THE THREE MOST RECENT OCCURRED ON 2/8, 2/10, AND 2/15 OF 2010. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR, I FIGURED IT WAS JUST BECAUSE IT WAS A NEW VEHICLE AND NEEDED DRIVEN (BROKEN IN) SO THE BRAKES WOULD FIND THEIR BEST WORKING LEVELS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DRIVING, AT ANY SPEED, AND IN ALL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE INCIDENT ON 2/8 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND ONLY GOING ABOUT 5-8 MPH. AS SHE MADE A TURN THE CAR PROCEEDED TO SHUTTER AND THE LOW TRACTION LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON, NO BRAKING WAS AVAILABLE DURING THIS INCIDENT, BUT LUCKILY SHE WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP BEFORE HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. ON 2/10 I WAS GOING TO TAKE THIS CAR TO FINALLY HAVE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM AND IN (VERY SAFE) GOOD DRIVING CONDITIONS I EXPERIENCED WHAT MY WIFE HAD EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN DOING FOR THE BETTER OF 6 MONTHS. AS YOU PROCEED TO COME TO A STOP THE CAR ACCELERATES UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS (I HAVE TESTED THIS) IF YOU KEEP THE PEDAL AT THE SAME POINT THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO SPEED UP SLOWLY, BUT IF YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR SEEMS TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED. NOW THIS IS WHERE MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THE CAR ANY LONGER, WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE FURTHER DOWN TO STOP IT LOCKS THE TIRES FOR ABOUT A SECOND BEFORE THE ABS EVEN KICKS IN. BEING THAT THIS IS A COLD AREA AND WE LIKELY HAVE SNOW DURING THE WINTER MONTHS I AM AMAZED THAT IF ANY OTHER COROLLA ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM THEY ALL HAVE NOT SLID OFF THE ROAD. WHEN I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ON 2/10 I WAS GOING TO TAKE IT TO TOYOTA FOR SERVICE. NEVER MADE IT, DID NOT TRUST THE VEHICLE TO SAFELY GET ME TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT INJURY TO MYSELF, OTHERS, OR PROPERTY. THE LAST INCIDENT ON 2/15 WAS THE SAME PROBLEM, AND AT THIS POINT MY WIFE WILL NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR. THIS IS THE VEHICLE WE PURCHASED TO KEEP OUR NEWBORN SAFE... LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN A POOR CHOICE. I FINALLY RISKED MY LIFE AND TOOK IT TO TOYOTA TONIGHT, WE WILL SEE WHAT COMES OF THIS. THANKS *TR
I HAVE ONE OF THE NOTORIOUS TOYOTA COROLLA. THE GAS PEDAL HAS BE FIXED-MAYBE BUT I NOW NOTICE AN EXTREMELY TOUCHY STEERING. IT SEEMS TO TURN OK BUT ON THE STRAIGHT AWAY YOU HAVE TO KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL TIGHTLY IT JERKS FROM RIGHT TO LEFT ALWAYS! THE FASTER YOU GO THE MORE PRONOUNCED. I USED TO LIVE IN PHILA AND REMEMBER WHAT IT FELT LIKE DRIVING ON ICE THIS IS QUITE SIMILAR. VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN YOUR OWN LANE. YOU GUYS NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS. ON FEBRUARY 15, 2010, I DROVE MY 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA FOR A SHORT ERRAND NEAR MY HOME. I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PROCEEDED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. TO KEEP THE CAR UNDER CONTROL, I GENTLY PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR A LITTLE THEN PRESSED GENTLY ON THE BRAKE. WHEN I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO RETURN TO NORMAL SPEED, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED WITHOUT MY TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. I PUSHED HARD ON THE BRAKE AND STOPPED THE CAR. THEN THE CAR RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. ALL THIS OCCURRED WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF LEAVING MY HOME. AT NO TIME DID I GO MORE THAN 25MPH. THE PAVEMENT WAS DRY. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 250 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. NO, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY LETTER FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THE RECALL. AFTER THE INCIDENT, I CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN CA. THEIR RESPONSE, OOPS I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A LETTER BUT ADMITTED NONE WAS SENT. THEY WILL CONTACT MY DEALER. 2 OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE, IF MY HARD BRAKING DID NOT WORK THE CAR WOULD HAVE KEPT ACCELERATING, THE SURGE WAS POWERFUL. ALSO, THE ENGINE DID NOT REV, THE CAR JUST SEEMED TO GET A SIGNAL TO ACCELERATE TO A CERTAIN SPEED. YES, THE EXPERIENCE WAS SCARY AND DANGEROUS. BEFORE, I WAS WILLING TO GIVE TOYOTA THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT, BUT IT'S HARD TO SEE HOW MY GAS PEDAL WOULD GET STUCK AFTER 240 DRIVEN MILES. PLEASE, DO YOUR JOB. TOYOTA SHOULD PERMANENTLY TAKE BACK ANY CARE EXPERIENCING THIS ACCELERATION. THESE CARS SHOULD BE PERMANENTLY OFF THE ROAD. *TR
2010 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH 10,100 MILES, STEERING SUDDENLY PULLS LEFT OR RIGHT RANDOMLY FOR SOME PERIOD OF TIME, THEN STOPS JUST AS SUDDENLY. IT OCCURS MORE SO AT FASTER SPEEDS, BUT WILL ALSO HAPPEN AROUND 20-30 MPH. DIFFICULT TO STAY IN LANE AS IT DRIFTS EXTREMELY EASILY. TENDS TO FAVOR PULLING RIGHT OVER LEFT, BUT DOES BOTH. HAVE TO PHYSICALLY PULL BACK TO COUNTERACT PULLING. ALSO VERY EASY TO OVERCORRECT AND LOOK LIKE YOU ARE SWERVING. HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS. WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 50 MPH THE GAUGES WENT INSTANTLY FROM 50 TO 0. AT THE SAME TIME MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH. THE CAR STILL HAD POWER WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS, LIGHTS AND RADIO WERE STILL ON. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN TO GET OFF THE ROAD, THEN STEERING WHEEL CLICKED AND LOCKED. THERE WAS NO STEERING. MY BRAKES DID WORK. IT WAS AS IF THE CAR HAD SHUT ITSELF OFF AND THEN BACK ON, BUT DIDN'T UNLOCK THE STEERING. THE CAR WAS NEW WITH LESS THAN 300 MILES ON IT. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS KIND, I HAD NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR UNTIL THEN. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. IT WAS TESTED THE NEXT DAY & I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SPEED SENSOR, BUT THE SENSOR WAS NOT REPLACED. THEY CONNECTED IT TO THE COMPUTER AND REPROGRAMMED IT AND SAID IT WAS GOOD TO GO. I REFUSED TO ACCEPT IT UNTIL THEY COULD TELL ME WHY IT HAPPENED AND WHAT THEY HAD REPLACED TO GUARANTEE IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO SO AND ENDED UP REPLACING MY CAR WITH A NEW ONE. *TR

WHEN I SAY UNSTABLE I MEAN THE STEERING IS TOO LIGHT FOR FEEL, AND THE CAR HAS A HORRIBLE TENDENCY TO SWAY INTO ANOTHER LANE. EVERY HIGHWAY TRIP IS A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS ADVENTURE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 2,376.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I AM CONTACTING YOU REGARDING A COMPLAINT WITH MY 2010 COROLLA. I FIRST CALLED THE NHTSA 800 NUMBER WITH THIS WRITTEN COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A HARD COPY IN TWO WEEKS (I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE IT). I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY CAUSE OF SNOWY CONDITIONS, I APPLIED THE BRAKES GENTLY STARTING ALMOST 20 -30 FT BEFORE REACHING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, TO MAKE A STOP BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AND THE CAR JUST ROLLED ON TO HIT A FORD SUV. IT FEELS LIKE STRONG WINDS ARE MOVING THE CAR BUT WINDS ARE ABSENT AND ROAD CONDITIONS ARE NORMAL. THIS EVENT COMES AND GOES UNEXPECTEDLY, GENERALLY LASTS THE DURATION OF MY COMMUTE ONCE STARTED, SOMETIMES OCCURS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE BUT NOT ALWAYS, SOMETIMES OCCURS AFTER RAPID BRAKING. IT DOES NOT FEEL LIKE AN ALIGNMENT OR BALANCE PROBLEM, THE CAR DARTS FROM ONE END OF THE LANE, TO THE MEDIAN OF THE LANE ON ITS OWN. ON THIS DATE 2-24-10 MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FILLED THE TIRES, AND MADE A SLIGHT CHANGE TO THE LEFT ALIGNMENT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND STATED "THIS COULD BE A MATTER OF PERSONAL PREFERENCES" REGARDING HOW I FELT THE CAR DROVE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE TOYOTA MANAGER ALSO TOLD ME TODAY THAT THEY UNDERSTAND "THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE NO DIRECTION ON HOW TO REPAIR IT." WHEN ASKED THEN IF HE COULD GUARANTEE MY SAFETY AND THAT THIS WOULD NOT OCCUR AGAIN HE STATED NO, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING FOR HIM TO DO. NO INJURIES TO DATE. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,493. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50.
