THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER TOYOTA WHITTIER LOCATED AT 14577 E, WHITTIER BLVD, WHITTIER, CA 90605, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG COIL WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA 355 3 TIMES. THEY SAY THE WAIT LIST IS VER Y LONG. THEY NEVER CALL ME BACK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MILTON RUBEN AUTO GROUP (3514 WASHINGTON RD, AUGUSTA, GA 30907) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HANDLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE SHATTERED, CAUSING LACERATIONS TO THE DRIVER'S HAND. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. MY DAUGHTER TOTALED THIS VEHICLE WITH A FRONT END COLLISION. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE MINOR INJURIES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ON THE MORNING OF 12/16/2016, WHILE IN THE PARKING GARAGE WHERE MY WIFE WORKS, SHE STOPPED TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPOT AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO VIGOROUS BRAKING NOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CAR HIT A CONCRETE WALL, THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, AND SHE WAS INJURED (NUMEROUS FRACTURES TO DATE). WE HAVE SEEN THE WORDS 'BRAKE OVERRIDE' AND 'SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION' IN CASES AGAINST TOYOTA. THERE WERE NO FLOOR MATS IN THE CAR. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR IN THE FIRST WEEK OF OCT 2016, SO IT WAS ONLY APPROX 75 DAYS IN OUR POSSESSION. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER GET US IN CONTACT WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER (ABOUT UNRELATED QUESTIONS) AND NEVER MENTIONED ANY POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH THE CAR. THEY GAVE ME A CARFAX, BUT THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THE SUA ISSUE. WE FEEL TOYOTA OR SOMEONE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS HAPPENING. NOT ONLY IS THERE PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE PERSON, BUT ALSO MENTAL DAMAGE ABOUT DRIVING ANY CAR. WE BELIEVE THE ELECTRONICS ARE TO BLAME FOR THIS HAPPENING. WHAT ARE OUR OPTIONS? THERE MULTIPLE TIMES WERE MY VEHICLE WILL LOSE ALL POWER AND NOT RESTART AFTER BEING TURNED OFF. I HAVE HAD THE BATTERY CHANGED TO BRAND NEW, PLUS A DIFFERENT ALTERNATOR INSTALLED WITH NO FIX TO THE ISSUE. I DO BELIEVE MY VEHICLE ECM HAS GONE BAD AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE.
TAKATA RECALL. I FEEL THAT TOYOTA HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME. I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 3 MONTHS TO HAVE MY AIR BAG REPLACED. IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING THAT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO REPLACE THE DEFECT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BUT WE ARE UNABLE TO BECAUSE THE SERVICE CENTERS DO NOT HAVE THE PRODUCT IN STOCK.

THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ECM NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 262,000.
RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED EARLY AUGUST, 2015. MADE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER WHEN I WAS TOLD, WHEN BROUGHT INT, AIRBAG WOULD BE REPLACED IN ABOUT 1 HOUR. AFTER SHOWING UP FOR APPOINTMENT, I WAS TOLD PART MUST BE ORDERED, AND NEW APPOINTMENT WOULD BE NECESSARY IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS, AND WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN PART ARRIVED. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED.
TOYOTA IS RECALLING SEVERAL MODELS INCLUDING MINE FOR A DEFECTIVE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. APPARENTLY METAL CAN BURST THROUGH THE AIRBAG IF IT IS DEPLOYED CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. THEY SENT ME A LETTER STATING THEY ARE WORKING ON GETTING THE PARTS FOR REPAIR BUT DON'T KNOW WHEN THAT MAY BE. THEY SUGGESTED THAT NOBODY RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL IT CAN BE FIXED BY AN UNDETERMINED DATE. NOT A SATISFACTORY SOLUTION IN MY OPINION.
TOYOTA HAS NOT RECTIFIED THE AIRBAG ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER. I RECEIVED AN "INTERIM NOTICE" FROM TOYOTA REGARDING THE RECALL OF AIRBAGS ON MY CAR 8/10/2015. THE STATUS OF MY CAR ACCORDING TO TOYOTA REMAINS "INTERIM" AND AS SUCH THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. HOWEVER, IN SAID LETTER TOYOTA STATED THAT, "UNTIL THE REMEDY BECOMES AVAILABLE IN YOUR LOCATION, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT." IN OTHER WORDS, YOU CANNOT FULLY USE YOUR CAR AND TO DATE, WE CANNOT FIX IT.

TOYOTA MATRIX RECALL I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT MY VEHICLE MODEL. THE LETTER HAD MENTIONED THAT I WAS TO SOON BE CONTACTED ABOUT TOYOTA FIXING THE ISSUE WHEN THE MANUFACTURER RECEIVED THE PARTS. THIS NOTICE CAME TO ME ON AUGUST. I HAD CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, IN WHICH I HAD BOUGHT MY VEHICLE, TO REMIND THEM THAT I HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED ABOUT THE RECALL ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO EVEN INFORM THEM ABOUT THE PROGRESS ON THE ISSUE, BUT IF ANYTHING, I WOULD UPDATED SHORTLY. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT HALF A YEAR, AND I HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED BY TOYOTA.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA MATRIX. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER READ 20 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SMOKE STARTED EMITTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AS WELL AS, THE RIGHT PASSENGER SEAT. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO START ON ITS OWN AND THEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHED. THE FIREMEN ARRIVED AND UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY. A REPORT WAS FILED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
WE RECEIVED THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE 2015 AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATUS OF AN AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. WE WERE NOTIFIED NOT TO HAVE ANYONE RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT DUE TO THE AIRBAG DEFICIENCY. IT HAS BEEN AN UNREASONABLE TIME AND STILL THERE IS NOT ETA ON A REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE AS THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR AND WE ARE CURRENTLY EXPECTING. I WOULD EXPECT FOR THIS THREATENING RECALL TO BE HANDLED MORE EFFICIENTLY OR ACCOMMODATIONS TO BE MADE.

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA MATRIX. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V285000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. I BROUGHT MY MATRIX TO TOYOTA OF BELLEVUE WITH CONCERNS ABOUT THE CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION SHORTLY AFTER ITS PURCHASE. I WAS BRUSHED OFF SAYING THIS IS JUST HOW TOYOTA'S DRIVE. WELL I GUESS THEY WEREN'T LYING ABOUT THAT BECAUSE I AM AMONG MANY OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THEIR BEARING IN THEIR TRANSMISSION FAIL PREMATURELY. I WAS GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN THE RIGHT LANE AND CAME SAFELY TO A STOP BUT THIS COULD HAVE EASILY ENDED BADLY FOR MY PASSENGER AND I. TO TOP IT OFF MY 7 YEAR WARRANTY I PURCHASED WAS MISLEADING. IT WAS FOR 7 YEARS FROM THE FIRST OWNER AND EVEN THOUGH I OWN A 2007 THE WARRANTY STARTED IN 2006. NONE OF THIS WAS EXPLAINED TO ME AND IN FACT THE WRITING FROM THE DEALER IN THE WARRANTY GUIDE SHOWS MY DATE OF PURCHASE AS 2010 AND SUBSEQUENTLY READS AS THE WARRANTY IS VALID UNTIL 2017 OR 100,000 MILES. MY MATRIX IS AT 95,000 MILES IF I HAD NOT BOUGHT THE WARRANTY MY CAR WOULD BE PAID OFF. I'M NOW STUCK WITH REPAIR COSTS FOR A FAULTY PART THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND I STILL OWE ON MY CAR. I OWN 2007 TOYOTA MATRIX. 28,161 CURRENT MILEAGE. FOUR (4) GOOD YEAR TIRES - EAGLE P205/55R/16 COME WITH MATRIX. DEFECTIVE TIRES. OTHER 3 TIRES STILL LOOKS GOOD CONDITION BUT ONE OF THE SIDEWALL DRIED PREMATURELY AND THE TIRE APART INTO 2 PIECES WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I SENT THE EMAIL TO CONTACT GOODYEAR LAST SAT 8/27/2011. I AM GREATLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE FACT THAT HOW TOYOTA IS HANDLING MANUFACTURING DEFECTS COULD LEAD TO THE INJURIES OR DEATHS OF ITS CUSTOMERS. WE RECEIVED INFORMATION FROM TOYOTA SAYING THAT THE ONBOARD COMPUTER FOR THE CAR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE COMPANY DID NOTHING FOR MONTHS DESPITE REPEATED PHONE CALLS. TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES ON THE PHONE INITIALLY PROVIDED NO HELP IN GETTING THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. WE FINALLY GOT PERMISSION TO BRING THE CAR TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR, WHICH ALSO HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT ON (THERE CAN BE MANY REASONS FOR THIS, BUT THEY SHOULD BE EASILY IDENTIFIED. I HAD TO WAIT SEVERAL HOURS BECAUSE THE INITIAL REPLACEMENT WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE (I BELIEVE THE DATE WAS 6/8/11). AS I DROVE AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS NOW CLOSED, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. WE HAD TO BRING BACK THE CAR, AND WERE TOLD THAT THE 02 SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET (ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW THE ACCURACY OF THIS) THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN PUTTING DEFECTIVE O2 SENSORS IN CARS THAT DON'T LAST AS LONG AS THEY SHOULD (OURS ONLY HAS 42K). WE THEN HAD TO PAY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WITH A MUCH HIGHER CUSTOMER SERVICE RATING THAN TOYOTA DEALERS HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE PROBLEM WAS CONFUSED BY THE FACT THAT THE ONBOARD COMPUTER WAS NOT CONSISTENT OR ACCURATE. FOR DAYS THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, FOR DAYS IT WAS OFF. THESE MECHANICS SAID THAT THE TOYOTA DEALER MADE AN ERROR AND DID NOT CLEAR THE COMPUTER'S HISTORY SO ANY FUTURE PROBLEM COULD BE EASILY IDENTIFIED. SO THEY CLEARED THE HISTORY AND WE HAD TO BRING THE CAR BACK IN A FEW DAYS. THEY THEN REPLACED THE APPARENTLY DEFECTIVE O2 SENSOR. WE HOPE THIS IS OVER BUT DON'T HAVE GREAT CONFIDENCE. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY PROBLEMS REPORTED WITH THE MATRIX. EDMUNDS.COM REPORTS THAT "A PERIODIC PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE IS FAILURE OF THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL."
2007 TOYOTA MATRIX. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH ENGINE CONTROL MODULE *TGW WHEN THE CONSUMER RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE, HE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. IT WAS DETERMINED THE ECU WAS FAULTY AND IT WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED SHIFTING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM, THE CLUTCH HAD WORN OUT PREMATURELY. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FAULTY ECU MAY HAVE BEEN THE REASON FOR THE WORN OUT CLUTCH. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE NIGHT OF DECEMBER 6TH IT SUDDENLY STOPPED. I WAITED FOR A WHILE, AND THE CAR STARTED AGAIN; AFTER A MILE OR SO IT STOPPED AGAIN. THE CAR STOPPED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT IT HAD A "RECALL" PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR ON THE 7TH TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. ON THE 8TH THEY CONFIRMED THAT INDEED WAS A "RECALL" PROBLEM AND THAT THEY WOULD PROBABLY WILL NEED TO KEEP THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS, BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AT HAND TO FIX IT. I HAD TO RENT AND BORROW A CAR IN ORDER TO MOVE AROUND. TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE HAD THE PARTS READILY AVAILABLE AND NOT KEEP THE CONSUMER SUFFER FOR THEIR TOTAL LACK OF PREPARATION. I DID NOT GET ANY CORRESPONDENCE FROM TOYOTA IN REGARDS TO THIS SPECIFIC RECALL. *TR

RATTLING UNDERNEATH VEHICLE IS GAS TANK VIBRATING WHILE DRIVING, IN PARK OR IDLING. WAS TOLD BY TOY DEALERSHIP IN WATERTOWN, MA THAT THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM REQUESTING THAT DOT NHTSA INVESTIGATE THE ELECTRONIC ACCELERATION SYSTEM AND/OR THE ECM CAUSING SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF MY 2007 TOYOTA MATRIX. ON 9/18/2010 MY SON WAS DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA MATRIX. HE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF A STORE & WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY STOPPED WHEN, EVEN THOUGH HE HAD HIS FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR & ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN. HE THEN PUSHED HARDER ON THE BRAKE & TURNED THE WHEEL & THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE ENDED UP CRASHING INTO THE GLASS WINDOW OF THE STORE, TO THE RIGHT OF THE PARKING SPOT, COMING TO A STOP WITH THE FRONT END INSIDE THE STORE. THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4 FEET OF SIDEWALK BETWEEN THE FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND THE BUILDING AND ABOUT A 2 INCH RAISE IN SURFACE HEIGHT. MY WIFE LATER INFORMED ME THAT SHE HAD AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEM THAT SAME DAY WHILE DRIVING THE SAME VEHICLE. SHE TURNED ONTO A STREET & WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH & APPROACHING A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. SHE THEN TOOK HER FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO COAST. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WITH HER FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MOVING. IT ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN SHE THEN HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKE & TAP THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO AVOID HITTING THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF HER. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA & THEY ARE SENDING AN ENGINEERING ANALYSIS COMPANY TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. I WAS CONTACTED BY THE COMPANY ON 9/27/2010 TO FIND OUT WHERE THE VEHICLE IS & SET UP THE INVESTIGATION. THE MATRIX IS CURRENTLY AT THE PROGRESSIVE COLLISION CENTER IN CLEARWATER FL. NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE TO THE VEHICLE, AWAITING TOYOTA INSPECTION. COULD YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS INCIDENT. *TR
