TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL OR ACTIVATE INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BULBS YET THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. UPDATED 09/28/11*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED ONE OF THE HEADLIGHTS WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE OTHER HEADLIGHT STARTED TO FAIL. UPDATED 10/07/11
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. SHE CRASHED INTO SOME BUSHES ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PROCEEDED TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ANOTHER TIME AND CAUSED A REAR END CRASH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000. UPDATED 11/25/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE SECOND TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, SHE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, THE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE AND THE CONSUMER CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK, MY BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND BARELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE. ALARM WAS GOING OFF, SO I PULLED FORWARD JUST ENOUGH TO SEE IF THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AT ALL AND THEY WERE PROBABLY 98% GONE. I PARKED, GOT TOWED TO DEALER NEAR MY HOME WITH AAA. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT A PAIR OF ABS SKID CONTROL RELAYS (2 88263-21010) CAUSED THE PROBLEM. NOTHING MECHANICAL FAILED. THESE RELAYS CAUSED MY ENTIRE BRAKING ABILITY TO BE LOST. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN UNSAFE DESIGN AS THERE IS NO MECHANICAL CONNECTION AVAILABLE AT THE PEDAL IF YOU HAVE THIS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. SOME MECHANICAL BRAKES SHOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ON / OFF ONLY AND NO IN BETWEEN. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND WHAT LEGAL REMEDIES ARE AVAILABLE TO ME AS I AM CONSIDERING CHANGING TO A SAFER VEHICLE DUE TO THIS DESIGN FLAW. AS IN POWER BRAKES, IF YOU LOSE THE POWER BRAKES, YOU CAN STILL STOP THE VEHICLE, THOUGH DIFFICULT SINCE THERE IS STILL A MECHANICAL HYDRAULIC SYSTEM IN PLACE EVEN WITH A FAILED POWER BOOSTER. *TR THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES SEIZED WHENEVER IT RAINED. WHEN THE BRAKES SEIZED EXCESSIVELY IT CAUSED THEM TO LEAN FORWARD TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS STALLED WITHOUT WARNING IN HEAVY FREEWAY TRAFFIC ON A BRIDGE WITH NO SHOULDER. THE WA STATE D.O.T. PUSHED ME TO SAFETY. AGAIN, MY 2007 PRIUS STALLED WITHOUT WARNING IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC!!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE. WHILE BRAKING THE VEHICLE LOSS SLIGHT CONTROL AND SKIDDED. SUDDENLY, THE SKID CONTROL WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WHENEVER ENCOUNTERING UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES, AND POTHOLES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2007, ONE OF THE HID HEADLIGHTS OCCASIONALLY GOES OUT. I THINK IT CAN BE EITHER ONE. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES I THOUGHT IT WAS THE PASSENGER'S SIDE BUT I DID NOT STOP TO FIND OUT. THE LAST TIME IT WAS THE DRIVER'S SIDE FOR CERTAIN. TURNING THEM OFF AND BACK ON FIXES THE PROBLEM. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON ONE TRIP (LESS THAN ONE HOUR). I LOOKED ON PRIUS ONLINE THEN HERE. WHEN I SAW OTHER INCIDENTS I DECIDED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT. I WILL TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER IN THE NEXT MONTH FOR SERVICE. *TR THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER CONTACTED TOYOTA BEFORE DOING ANY WORK ON MY VEHICLE. THE TOLD HIM TO REPLACE BOTH HID BULBS, WHICH HE DID. HE WAS TOLD THAT THE BULBS OVERHEAT AND CUT OUT. THE PROBLEM NOLONGER OCCURS, BUT AS OF THIS WRITING IT HAS ONLY BEEN A MONTH.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND INCREASED IN SPEED. THE BRAKES DID NOT HOLD. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. HER RIGHT KNEE WAS CRUSHED AND THE LEFT KNEE WAS FRACTURED. SHE RECEIVED LACERATIONS FROM THE SEAT BELT ON HER NECK AND HER RIBS WERE BRUISED. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BROKEN RIBS, A PUNCTURED LUNG, INTERNAL BLEEDING, OPTICAL NERVE DAMAGE, A TRACHEOTOMY, AND SPINAL INJURY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE ALMOST 10,000.
1. SITTING IN TRAFFIC ONLY RT. 287 N. THE BATTERY LEVEL DROPPED QUICKLY AND SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE POINT OF MY BEING UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE ELECTRIC ENGINE WHICH IS THE INITIAL METHOD OF SENDING POWER TO THE WHEELS. 2. CONSEQUENCES: BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC HAD TO BE DIRECTED AROUND ME WHICH CAUSED MORE TRAFFIC AND PUT ME IN DANGER OF BECOMING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. 3. INVESTIGATED POSSIBLE RECALL BUT NONE WAS DOCUMENTED. *TR
ALL LATE MODEL TOYOTA GAS ELECTRIC AUTOS. I FIND THEM VERY DANGEROUS IN PARKING LOTS, AS THEY CAN AND DO BACKUP WITH NO NOISE. I WAS ALMOST RUN OVER BY ONE ON A FOGGY DAY LAST WEEK. THE DRIVER NEVER TURNED ON LIGHT AND DIDN'T SEE ME WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPOT. I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY THAT TIME. SUPPOSE I HAD BEEN BLIND? NOT A SOUND TO LET ME KNOW THE CAR WAS THERE. I REALLY THINK THE CAR COMPANY SHOULD INSTALL A BACKUP ALARM OF SOME SORT ON ALL THESE AUTOS. *TR

THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE 2007 PRIUS TURN OFF BY THEM SELF. IF YOU TURN THEM OFF AND BACK ON THEY WILL BE BACK ON AND TURN OFF AGAIN, THIS IS HOW I KNOW IT IS NOT A LOSE WIRE. I WORKED WITH A FLEET OF PRIUS AND LEXUS HYBRID CARS. THE PRIUS HAS HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE 2006. MULTIPLE CARS WIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP CHARGES YOU UP TO $ 1,700 + TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE FORUMS ALL OVER THE NET DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE AND MANY CONCERN DRIVERS ON THE ROAD THAT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO UTILIZE THE POWER OF THE INTERNET. THIS IS NO LONGER A MONEY ISSUE, IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE NOW. POLICE HAVE TICKETED ME OVER 5 TIMES AND I HAVE GONE TO TOYOTA AND THEY CHARGE ME THOUSANDS. LAST WEEK I ALMOST RAN OVER A LITTLE GIRL ON A BIKE AT DUSK ...WHEN I STOPPED AND ASKED IF SHE WAS OK SHE REPLIED " I DIDN'T SEE YOUR LIGHTS SIR, I AM SORRY" . *TR

I OWN A 2007 PRIUS. I HAVE NOTICED ON MANY OCCASIONS THAT WHEN YOU GO OVER A POTHOLE, OR THERE IS GRAVEL ON THE ROAD, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND FOR A MOMENT, THE CAR LOSES ITS BRAKING ABILITY. DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, SPEED LIMIT OF 35MPH, AT 5:20PM IN EVENING COMMUTE TRAFFIC, A NORMAL STOP TRANSITIONED INTO AN EMERGENCY STOP ATTEMPT AND MINOR ACCIDENT. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, DID NOT SEEM TO SLOW. UPON HARD BRAKING, BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE BRAKE STOP, NO ABS SHIMMY OR INCREASED SLOWING. (I HAVE NEVER NOTICED BRAKES GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE BRAKE STOP BEFORE, BUT IT HAPPENED THE FOLLOWING DAY WHEN DRIVING TO BODY SHOP FOR ESTIMATE) HIT A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA WITH TOW PACKAGE. FRONT END DAMAGE OF 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS ESTIMATED AT LEAST $3K. NO DAMAGE TO TACOMA. SAN JOSE PD TOOK REPORT AND WITH NO FLUIDS LEAKING, I DROVE THE CAR HOME AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I REPORTED ACCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEN CONTACT TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE THE FOLLOWING DAY. AS PREVIOUSLY STATED, I DROVE TO LOCAL BODY SHOP FOR REPAIR ESTIMATE AND BRAKES HIT BRAKE STOP AGAIN (GOING LESS THAN 20MPH). TOYOTA CREATED CASE FILE AND TODAY (10/05/07) REGIONAL TOYOTA INSPECTOR IS CURRENTLY INSPECTING MY VEHICLE AT THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHEN SWITCHING FROM CRUISE CONTROL TO APPLYING THE BRAKES AND BACK TO CRUISE CONTROL, THE ENGINE REVVED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE FAILURE USUALLY OCCURRED WHEN THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES RAPIDLY AND TRANSITIONED BACK TO THE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,500.
2007 TOYOTA PRIUS, HID LIGHTS STARTED GOING OUT AT LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DECELERATING FROM 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, HOWEVER, THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE THEN DROVE OVER A CURB, STRUCK SOME BUSHES, DROVE DOWN AN EMBANKMENT, AND CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT BECAME STUCK IN THE MUD. A TOW TRUCK REMOVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE EMBANKMENT AND THE CONTACT DROVE IT TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. SHE STATED THAT THE FLOOR MAT WAS LOCKED IN PLACE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY WILL HAVE AN INVESTIGATOR LOOK INTO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 80,000. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DEACTIVATED THE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ACCELERATION HAPPENED DUE TO A GLITCH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. UPDATED 12/11/07
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE WAS BACKING DOWN A 20 DEGREE SLOPE WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED BACKWARDS DOWNHILL AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, BUT THEN ACCELERATED TO 35 MPH. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A TREE AND THE CONTACT'S HEAD STRUCK THE HEAD REST. HE SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY AND CAN PROVIDE A POLICE REPORT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,600.
I FEEL MY 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS HAS A PROBLEM WITH ITS BRAKING SYSTEM AND HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY HAVE ASSURED ME THAT THE ABS IS WORKING THE WAY IT SHOULD. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS: WHEN I AM DRIVING ON A ROAD THAT IS BUMPY OR HAS POTHOLES AND I HAVE TO BRAKE, THERE SEEMS TO BE A DISCONNECT OR TOO MUCH OF A LAPSE IN TIME WHEN THE BRAKES FINALLY TAKE. IT IS ESPECIALLY DISCONCERTING WHEN GOING DOWN HILL. I HAVE HAD TIMES WHEN GOING DOWN HILL IF I WASN'T FAR ENOUGH BACK FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP IN TIME.....NOT A GOOD FEELING. I AM NOW VERY COGNIZANT OF THIS FACT AND HAVE TO DRIVE TO ACCOMMODATE MY BRAKES. I SHOULD ALSO INFORM YOU THAT THE LITTLE YELLOW SLIDING CAR ON MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP WHEN ALL OF THIS IS HAPPENING. I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR ALMOST THREE YEARS NOW AND I MUST SAY THAT IT HAS ALWAYS ACTED THIS WAY WHEN BRAKING. I SHOULD HAVE RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER AS SOON AS I NOTICED IT BUT BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST PRIUS I HAD EVER OWNED, I THOUGHT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. I AM NOW FEELING LESS AND LESS CONFIDANT ABOUT THIS CAR. WOULD YOU ASK THE TOYOTA COMPANY TO RECALL THE 2007 PRIUS'S AS THEY HAVE THE 2010 PRIUS'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM? I HAVE A 2007 PRIUS, STARTING AROUND 39,000 MILES, I NOTICED MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT WAS OUT, BUT THE NEXT TIME I STARTED MY CAR IT WAS WORKING. AFTER A FEW WEEKS I NOTICED BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT HEADLIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY GO OUT. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT WHEN I WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TO BRING MY CAR BACK WHEN THE PROBLEM EXISTED. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALER AND AT THAT TIME BOTH LIGHTS WERE OUT, AT THE SAME TIME. THE TECH THAT WROTE UP MY TICKET SAW BOTH LIGHTS OUT, THE REACHED IN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF, THEN BACK ON. BOTH LIGHTS WORKED, THEY KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN IN THE CAR AND DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM, THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THEY CHECKED MY CAR OUT AND SUGGESTED TO CHANGE BOTH HID LIGHTS AND THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS EACH LIGHT, ONE FOR EACH SIDE. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR WILL BE OVER $1,500. LATELY THIS FAILURE OCCURS CONSISTENTLY EVERYTIME I START THE CAR. I DRIVE TO WORK AT 5:00AM IN THE MORNING SO THIS PROBLEM POSES A HAZARD AS NOW BOTH LIGHTS WILL GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE HAD CARS FLASH THEIR LIGHTS WHEN I HAVE NOT NOTICE BOTH LIGHTS HAVE GONE OFF. THE LIGHTS NOW SEEM TO DIM, THEN GO OUT SO I DO NOT NOTICE WHEN THE STREET LIGHTS ARE BRIGHT. I HAVE READ ON PRIUSCHAT.COM/FORUMS, THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN IN TO COMPLAIN. *TR
WE HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS WITH HIGH INTENSITY HEAD LAMPS. WE NOTICED THAT WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WOULD DO OUT WITHOUT FADING FIRST. WE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT IF WE TURNED OUR LIGHTS ON AND OFF THEY WOULD COME BACK ON. I HAVE BEEN STOPPED BY POLICE 3 TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE, BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE (THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE MY EXPERIENCE), AND AM FINALLY HEADED BACK TO THEM AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE WITH MY LIGHTS ON WHETHER FOR SAFETY OR FOR LIGHT. 2007 TOYOTA PRIUS. I NOTICED BRAKES SLIPPING OR DELAYED ENGAGEMENT VERY SOON AFTER PURCHASE. WHEN THE BRAKE HESITATES THE SLIPPERY ROAD ICON ALWAYS COMES ON. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER 3 TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST 12-18 MOS. THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT AND HAD THE TECH DRIVE IT WITHOUT THE PROBLEM OCCURRING FOR HIM. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY CAR IN THE INTERIM. ACTIONS TO DATE HAVE DONE MUCH TO HEIGHTEN AWARENESS OF PROBLEMS BUT HAVE DONE NOTHING TO INCREASE SAFETY IN THE SHORT TERM. THE FIRST SIGN OF A PROBLEM WAS A SQUEAKING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE NEXT COUPLE OF TIMES POWERING ON THE CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD JERK AS SOON AS THE CAR RECEIVED POWER. THIS JERKING BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE NEXT COUPLE OF STARTS, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WHEN BACKING UP AND STARTING TO MOVE FORWARD. FINALLY, IT GOT TO A POINT WHERE, AS I WAS DRIVING AWAY, THE POWERING STEERING JUST BECAME DISABLED. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND THE INFO PANEL WAS REPORTING A MAJOR SYSTEM FAILURE IN THE STEERING. I WAS INFORMED AFTER AN INITIAL INSPECTION BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT A FUSE HAD BLOWN. AFTER A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ECU HAD GONE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB

THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT THAT SENT US COMPLAINING TO THE DEALER WAS IN OCTOBER 2009, WHEN RETURNING HOME FROM WORK AND THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE APPLIED IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING A DEER, THE BRAKES DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE AND NARROWLY MISSED HITTING THE DEER. THIS WAS REPORTED TO TOYOTA OF YORK IN PENNSYLVANIA. THE PRIMARY DEALERSHIP THAT HAS PROVIDED OUR SERVICES IS RIVERHEAD TOYOTA IN NEW YORK. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD, BUT TESTED GOOD, THE TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY WAS INOPERABLE DUE TO A LOOSE CONNECTION AT THE REAR OF THE MULTI DISPLAY/ HATCH AREA. A SHORT WIRE WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WILL HONOR THE FIRST DEALER'S DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,065 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,100.

WHEN I WENT FROM ACCELERATING TO RAPID BRAKING THERE WAS NO REAL SENSATION OF THE CAR SLOWING DOWN MORE THAN SLIGHT BRAKING. THE OTHER CAR HAD MINIMAL DAMAGE, BUT THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER CAR DID HIT HER HEAD ON HER STEERING WHEEL. I HAD CLOSE TO $3,000 IN DAMAGE TO MY FRONT END (HOOD BUMPER AND LEFT FENDER). *TR THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES DESIGN. THE BRAKES ARE ELECTRONICALLY ASSISTED AND THAT THE COMPUTER WILL FIRST ATTEMPT TO USE THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FOR INITIAL BRAKING, THEN ENGAGE THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AND FINALLY THE ABS BASED ON FEEDBACK FROM VARIOUS SENSORS. THE MECHANIC DID AGREE, THAT IS POSSIBLE THAT WHILE THE COMPUTER IS EVALUATING THE BRAKING EFFICIENCY, A DELAY BETWEEN THE MOTOR ONLY BRAKING AND FULLY ENGAGING THE HYDRAULICS AND ABS ARE POSSIBLE AND PART OF THE DESIGN.
