NO BRAKES. BRAKE PEDAL HARD TO PRESS. C1256 CODE FOUND. SEVERAL DIFFERENT LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD LIGHT UP PLUS BUZZER SOUND. BRAKE BOOSTER HAS GONE BAD. RECALL ON SAME MODEL/MAKE OF VEHICLE. BELIEVE PART TO BE DEFECTIVE. WENT FROM HAVING BRAKES TO LITTLE BRAKING CAPABILITY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE BRAKE, AIR BAG, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL SLOWLY, THE VEHICLE ENGAGED. THE CONTACT CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT ABOUT A RECALL FOR THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT CALLED AL HENDRICKSON TOYOTA AT 954-972-1100 AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WITH A POPPING SOUND. THE FAILURE NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS TURNING INTO A TRAFFIC LANE. THIS LEFT ME STALLED IN THAT LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE FAILURE TURNED OUT TO BE THE INVERTER OVER HEATING WAS CAUSED BY THE COOLING PUMP IN THE INVERTER FAILING, WHICH CAUSED THE INVERTER TO OVERHEAT. THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I CHOSE NOT TO HAVE THE DEALER REPAIR IT AT THEIR EXTREME PRICES. I PAID THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEN I HAD GREENTEC IN OLATHE KS. REPAIR THE SYSTEM AT 1/2 THE COST THAT THE DEALER WANTED
SEVERAL BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD A DIFFERENT SENSATION. SHE SAID IT STILL WORKED, BUT FELT VERY DIFFERENT - ENOUGH THAT SHE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG EVEN IF THE LIGHTS HADN'T COME ON. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP WHO SAID IT HAD TO GO TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER WANTED $3983 TO REPAIR SAYING THAT ABS ACCUMULATOR WAS BAD. IN DOING RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT MANY PRIUS' WERE RECALLED, BUT UNFORTUNATELY MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. ALSO DISCOVERED THAT TOYOTA ISSUED AN "ENHANCED WARRANTY PROGRAM (ZG1) FOR MODELS 2004-2009. BUT MY NEWER MODEL (2010) IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ENHANCED WARRANTY PROGRAM. IT FEELS LIKE TOYOTA KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, BUT ARE NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH TWO DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS WHO CONFIRMED THAT BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT MATCH THE RECALLS, THERE WAS NOTHING TOYOTA WOULD DO FOR ME.
SERIOUS BRAKE ISSUES! FAILURE OF BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER CAUSING IMPAIRED BRAKING LENDING TO SAFETY ISSUES. MANY INSIDERS AT TOYOTA KNOW THE 2010 PRIUS BRAKE ISSUES EXIST AND QUESTION WHY IT IS NOT HANDLED AT THE CORPORATE LEVEL. BRAKES ARE SPONGY AND ADDITIONAL PRESSURE MUST BE APPLIED. THE ABS IS INOPERABLE BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE HOLD TOYOTA ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS CHRONIC ISSUE. THE SAFETY OF ALL INVOLVED IS AFFECTED DUE TO INCONSISTENT BRAKING. MY DEALERSHIP ASKED CORPORATE TOYOTA TO ADDRESS AND THEY REFUSED.
CAR IN TWO ACCIDENTS OVER TWO YEARS BODY WAS NOT PROPERLY WELDED BACK TO THE FRAME! BRAKES WERE NOT PROPERLY REALIGNED NEITHER WAS THE STEERING COLUMN TRANSMISSION BANDS WERE NOT OPERATING AND WOULD NOT SHIFT AND NUMEROUS OTHER PARTS FOR LEAKAGE FROM BRAKE LINES TO TRANSMISSION LINES ALL LINES WERE BROKEN AND SO ARE THE SEALS ON THEM!
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON OUR 2010 PRIUS FOR 3-4 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER REPORTED THE ISSUE. AT LEAST TWICE PER YEAR, ONE OF THE HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT'S THE LEFT, SOMETIMES IT'S THE RIGHT. WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO REPLACE THE BULBS AFTER THESE EVENTS. (EXPENSIVE). TONIGHT, (11/9/2017), WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND THE DARK BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. AN ONLINE SEARCH REVEALED THAT PRIUS HEADLIGHT COMPLAIHTS ARE NUMEROUS WITH ISSUES BEING REPORTED FOR YEARS. WE LAST REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT BULBS ONE MONTH AGO
MY 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS WAS IMPECCABLY MAINTAINED BY DESERT TOYOTA OF TUCSON, ALL SERVICE RECORDS KEPT. OIL WAS CHANGED EVERY 5,000 MILES RATHER THAN THE DEALER-RECOMMENDED 10,000. THIS WAS MY 4TH TOYOTA AND I EXPECTED IT, LIKE MY OTHER TOYOTAS, TO HAVE NO SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS FOR YEARS. BUT SUDDENLY IN 2017, WHEN THE ENGINE TURNED OVER 107,000 MILES (THUS MAKING IT OUT OF WARRANTY), I HAPPENED TO CHECK THE OIL (SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES BEFORE THE NEXT SERVICE WAS DUE) AND FOUND IT NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE DIPSTICK. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT I CHECKED IT BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO ADD OIL AND SAVE THE ENGINE. THE CAR PERFORMED AS BEFORE, BUT CONTINUED TO BURN ABOUT A QUART OF MOTOR OIL EVERY 1000 TO 1500 MILES. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF EITHER SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST, OR OIL STAINS UNDERNEATH THE CAR. MY SERVICE PERSON AT DESERT MERELY SHRUGGED AND SAID THIS KIND OF THING HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY, OFFERED NO REMEDY OR CONTACT WITH THE TOYOTA REP. I BEGAN TO SEARCH THE INTERNET, FINDING THAT THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF 2010 TOYOTA PRIUSES WITH THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE KEPT THE CAR ON THE ROAD BUT AM AWAITING A REIMBURSED REMEDY FROM TOYOTA, POSSIBLY THROUGH A CLASS ACTION SUIT. THIS OIL LEAKAGE POSES INCALCULABLE SAFETY RISKS TO THE ENVIRONMENT IN POLLUTION AND UNPREDICTABLE OCCURRENCES. TOYOTA OWNERS DO NOT EXPECT A $5000 ENGINE REPAIR ON A $25,000 CAR WITHIN 7 YEARS OF PURCHASE, NOR SHOULD THEY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A TOYOTA DEFECT WHICH CONVENIENTLY OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS JUST OUT OF ENGJINE WARRANTY.
THE CAR IS CONSUMING OIL AT UNREASONABLE RATES.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A RECALL IN JANUARY 2017 REGARDING CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAGS IN THE ROOF RAILS OF MY CAR. I CONTACTED MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART TO MAKE THE REPAIR BUT WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY GOT THE PART IN. I CALLED THEM TWO MORE TIMES REGARDING THIS ISSUE, MOST RECENTLY ON 10-25-17 AND WAS AGAIN TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THEY GET THE CORRECTIVE PART. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHEN THE CORRECTIVE PART SHOULD BE DISPENSED TO THE DEALERSHIPS? WHAT IS A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO EXPECT THIS TO BE CORRECTED AND WHAT, IF ANY, ACTION SHOULD I PURSUE?
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TEND TO GO OUT EVERY 2 TO 3 MONTHS SOMETIMES ONE AT A TIME AND SOMETIMES BOTH.
I NOTICED A 'CLICKING' IN MY BRAKES AND LOSS OF PRESSURE IN NOV. 2017. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC FRIEND TO LOOK IT OVER AND I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER LEAKING AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THERE HAD BEEN A 'RECALL' SENT ON CERTAIN VIN #S BUT MINE WASN'T LISTED ON IT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $700+ TO DIAGNOSE AND 'FIX' THE ISSUE. IT WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BECAUSE OF THE PRODUCTION DATE OF MY CAR. I FOUGHT WITH TOYOTA CORP AND THEY DECIDED TO COVER THE COST AS A 'COURTESY'. THE CLICKING STOPPED FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS THEN CAME BACK MUCH LOUDER AND MORE FREQUENTLY. STILL LOSING PRESSURE, ENOUGH SO THAT WHEN I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN 'PARK' TO KEEP IT FROM MOVING FORWARD. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL AND THIS TIME THE COST WOULD BE $4700+ TO 'FIX' THE ISSUE. THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY CONFIRMED THE NITROGEN LEAK WITH THE 'BUBBLE TEST' SO IT WAS, IN FACT, THE BRAKE BOOSTER, BUT IT WAS STILL NOT COVERED. THIS TIME TOYOTA SAID THEY WOULD ONLY PAY $2000 FOR THE TOTAL COST, AGAIN AS A 'COURTESY', BUT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMAINING AMOUNT. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF THERE WAS SOMETHING I HAD DONE TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE AND I WAS TOLD 'NO'. TO ME THEN THAT IS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON A CONSISTENT BASIS, ALWAYS TAKING IT TO THEM FOR OIL CHANGES, ROTATIONS, ETC. ALWAYS ON THE SUGGESTED TIME SCHEDULE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE, THE PEDAL BECAME LOOSE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED MOVING AND THE ANTI-SKID, BRAKE, AND ABS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAVENDER TOYOTA (5730 NORTHWEST LOOP 410, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78238, (210) 681-6601) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS; THEREFORE, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE.
ENGINE BURNING EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED. LAST NIGHT, I NOTICED THAT THE OIL RESERVOIR LEVEL WAS SO LOW, THE DIP STICK DID NOT EVEN REGISTER IT. I HAD TO ADD 2.5 QUARTS OF OIL BEFORE IT STARTED READING THE OIL LEVEL AGAIN.
WITHOUT WARNING, TOTAL FAILURE OF POWER ASSIST TO BRAKES. NUMEROUS DASH WARNING LIGHTS AND LOUD BUZZER SOUNDS. REQUIRES EXTREME BRAKE PEDAL FORCE TO STOP THE CAR. EXTREMELY UNNERVING AND DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR, AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED HIS INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES). THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TEJAS TOYOTA (19011 HIGHWAY 59 N HUMBLE, TX 77338 (281) 446-0271) WHERE IT WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED WITH A LEAK IN THE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 165,600.
THE BRAKES SEEM TO DISENGAGE FOR A SECOND AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE PRESSING ON THEM IN A NORMAL MANOR. I DRIVE EVERY DAY ABUT 20 MILES AND THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BREAKS TO TRY AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. DURING THAT INCIDENT THEY DISENGAGED FOR A SECOND AGAIN. THIS WAS A SECOND TOO LONG AND I WAS UNABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. I LOOKED THIS UP AFTER MY ACCIDENT AND I SURPRISINGLY SAW SIMILAR REPORTS ON GOOGLE FOR MY CAR. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE TOYOTA IS SAYING THAT IT DOESN'T AFFECT MY VIN NUMBER? I'M HERE TO SAY THAT IT DOES.
RODENT DAMAGE TO WIRES ON MAIN HARNESS. PERHAPS DUE TO SOY-BASED WIRE COATINGS? ALSO RODENT DAMAGE IN AC INTAKE AND EVAPORATOR CORE. CAR WAS PARKED.
AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TURNING ON EVERY SO OFTEN. AFTER RECALL WORK AT DEALER, IT WENT AWAY, BUT AGAIN NOW HOLDS CONSTANT.
MY CAR HAD THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ON AND I HEARD A STRANGE NOISE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. LAST YEAR. ON OCTOBER 7, 2017, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER DRIVER CUT ME OFF, SO I HAD TO BREAK HARD. THE CAR PULLED HARD TO ONE SIDE AND I HIT THE RETAINING WALL. FORTUNATELY, THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR WAS ON THE BUMPER COVER ONLY, AND I WAS NOT INJURED, SO I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON MY CAR AFTER THE CRASH AND REPORTED I NEEDED TO HAVE CERTAIN PARTS REPLACED. TOYOTA SAFETY RECALL 13V-235 DESCRIBES EXACTLY THE SYMPTOMS MY CAR SHOWS AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF EXACTLY THE SAME PARTS. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT MY CAR'S VIN DOES NOT FALL IN THE RANGE TOYOTA REPORTED IN THE RECALL. APART FROM THAT , THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME. MY ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS HAD THE RETAINING WALL THAT STOPPED ME NOT BEEN THERE. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE CENTER LANES AND THE STORY WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFERENT, EVEN WITH ME SURVIVING THE ACCIDENT.
ON OCTOBER 7, 2017 A DRIVER CUT ME OFF ON THE HIGHWAY, I PRESSED MY BRAKES HARD AND THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE SIDE AND I HIT THE RETAINING WALL. THE IMPACT WAS NOT TOO HARD AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TRAVELLING. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT IS ON AND I HEAR A STRANGE HUMMING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. THE DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE TWO MAIN PARTS IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I FOUND A TOYOTA SAFETY RECALL 13V-235 AFFECTING OTHER PRIUS 2010 THAT DESCRIBES EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF EXACTLY THE SAME PARTS INDICATED IN THE SAFETY RECALL. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT TOYOTA REPORTED THIS PROBLEM IN VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL, BUT MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THEIR INDICATED RANGE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN THE FALL OF 2017. THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF WARREN, 2657 NILES CORTLAND RD SE, WARREN, OH 44484) STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. *TT CONSUMER STATED AS OF 10/28/18 FAILED AIR BAGS HAS STILL NOT BEEN FIXED. THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS GENERALLY MUST BE REPLACED EVERY 4 TO 6 MONTHS; OCCASIONALLY ONE LOW-BEAM WILL LAST A YEAR, BUT MAY GO OUT AND COME BACK ON INTERMITTENTLY, WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY CONCERN, BUT I HAVE RECEIVED REPEATED VEHICLE DEFECT TICKETS THAT MUST CONSTANTLY BE ADDRESSED BY VISITING A REPAIR SHOP TO DEMONSTRATE THAT I FIXED THE BULB MYSELF. THE SHOP MUST SIGN THE PAPERWORK TO ATTEST THE DEFECTIVE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN FIXED BEFORE I CAN MAIL THE FORM TO ABSOLVE THE TICKET. THREE DAYS AGO, THE DRIVER SIDE LOW-BEAM WENT OUT. I BOUGHT A NEW BULB BUT THE LOW-BEAM STILL DIDN'T WORK. I RETURNED THAT BULB FOR ANOTHER NEW BULB WHICH DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK EITHER. MY HUSBAND THOUGHT TO TEST THE BULB ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DISCOVERED THAT BOTH THE NEW BULB AND THE CURRENT BULB THAT WE THOUGHT WAS BLOWN BOTH WORK!! NOW, WE ARE WONDERING HOW MANY BULBS WE REPLACED THAT WERE ACTUALLY WORKING!!! MY HUSBAND ALSO CHECKED THE FUSES, WHICH ARE FINE. IT SEEMS THERE MUST BE A CONNECTION ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED. I HAVE SOME OF THE INVOICES AND DEFECT TICKETS BUT THEY AREN'T WITH ME AT THE MOMENT.

NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE IS INDICATING A PROBLEM VIA ITS DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS. A TOYOTA MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN, ON SEPT 21, 2017, DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAR'S BRAKE ACCUMULATOR PUMP IS MALFUNCTIONING -- AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM PETITIONING FOR CONSIDERATION TO EXPAND THE 2013 RECALL, WHICH WAS ORDERED TO CORRECT A DESIGN/MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE SAME FLAW IS PRESENT IN MY VEHICLE (EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE ORIGINAL RECALL).

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TO VERIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN. *TT CONSUMER STATED AS OF JULY 2017 LEFT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NOT DISPLAYING WHICH INCLUDES GAS METER AND SPEEDOMETER. I HAVE A RECALL NOTICE WITH A DATE OF JUNE 28, 2016. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH GENE MESSER TOYOTA IN LUBBOCK, TX ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2017. I SHOWED THE RECALL NOTICE TO THE GUY AT THE SERVICE STATION AND WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR A SECOND LETTER SAYING THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THE GUY DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO ORDER THE PARTS. I WAS REJECTED RIGHT AWAY. I DON'T THINK ANOTHER LETTER IS SUPPOSE TO COME BECAUSE OF THE TIMELINE, BUT THAT WAS WHAT I WAS TOLD TO DO.
MY 2010 PRIUS WITH 167,000 HAS BEGUN BURNING ENGINE OIL AT A RATE OF ABOUT 1 QUART PER THOUSAND MILES. 9 WEEKS AFTER MY LAST OIL CHANGE AND THE ENGINE WAS DOWN 3 QUARTS OF OIL. MPG HAS GONE DOWN SLIGHTLY DURING THIS TIME AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON.
I DRIVE A TOYOTA PRIUS 2010, I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY BRAKE, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AT ONCE. WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKE IT WOULD TAKE A LOT OF FORCE FOR MY CAR TO STOP. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THEY SAID PART NUMBER C1391 HAS TO BE REPLACED. TECH FOUND ABNORMAL LEAK IN ACCUMULATOR. THE ACCUMULATOR PUMP ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHICH WOULD COST ME 2,000 DOLLARS PARTS AND LABOR. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY MIGHT FIND OUT THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER MIGHT HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS WELL IF DAMAGED. WHICH WOULD BE 3,300 DOLLARS. SO WORST CASE SCENARIO IT WOULD BE OVER 5,000 WITH TAX TO FIX MY CAR. I NOTICED OTHER 2010 PRIUS MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR THE EXACT ISSUE BUT ONLY CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS. MY VIN NUMBER WASN'T INCLUDED. I FEEL LIKE IT SHOULD BE IF MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. I CAN'T AFFORD OVER 2,000 IN REPAIRS LET ALONE 5,000.

SEALS SEEM TO ALLOW WATER TO GET INTO THE IGNITION COILS HENCE THE ISSUE. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN FIRST OBSERVED THEN SHUDDERING AND MISFIRING OCCURRING AS VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN ALSO LEADING TO LOSS OF POWER AS ITS BEING DRIVEN WHICH IS QUITE DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAYS.

DIAGNOSTIC INDICATED FAILURE OF SPIRAL CABLE (CLOCK SPRING)....SIMILAR TO OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES THAT ARE PART OF A RECALL. CONTACTED TOYOTA 1-800-331-4331. PRIUS IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMS THAT IT HAS A SIMILAR FAILURE. TOYOTA LOGGED THE COMPLAINT.
THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND WHEN YOU MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH WHEN CAR IS STATIONARY, SOUND IS COMING FROM THE STEERING SHAFT CONNECTION TO THE RACK AND PINION. SAME CLICKING SOUND WHEN CAR DRIVES OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. PREVIOUS RECALL OF THIS PROBLEM FOR 2004 TO 2009 PRIUS MODEL STATED A DEFECTIVE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. THIS PROBLEM SOUNDS IDENTICAL TO THE RECALLS OF 2004-2009 PRIUS MODELS.
TRAVELING STRAIGHT FORWARD AT 40 MPH AND APPROACHING A RED LIGHT. IMMEDIATELY UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AN ALARM SOUNDED AND THE ABS, BRAKE, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LAMPS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD, AND MY PRIUS COMPLETELY FAILED TO BRAKE, CONTINUING UNABATED TOWARD THE OTHER VEHICLES STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. I BEGAN PUMPING THE BRAKES AND WAS ABLE TO BUILD UP PRESSURE AND SAFELY STOP WITHOUT COLLISION OR FURTHER INCIDENT. MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A "BRAKE ACCUMULATOR INTERNAL LEAK. RECOMMEND REPLACE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR". THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED, THIS IS EGREGIOUSLY IRRESPONSIBLE BY TOYOTA, I EASILY COULD HAVE BEEN HURT OR KILLED.

DOING RESEARCH I FOUND MANY OWNERS OF THE SAME MODEL CAR HAVE SAME PROBLEM AND SOME OF THE CARS ARE RECALLED BUT NOT ALL. I BELIEVE MOST OF 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS CAR HAVE ISSUES WITH BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH IS BAD FOR OUR SAFETY. IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS HARM FOR OUR SAFETY. I BUY MID TO HIGH RANGE QUALITY BULBS AND ARE VERY CAREFUL TO KEEP THE BULBS CLEAN DURING INSTALLATION. I NOTICE THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. HOW CAN WE GET THIS ESCALATED TO TOYOTA!
THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY IN THE STEERING WHEEL HAS CREATED A SHORT CIRCUIT AND NOW THE HORN NO LONGER WORKS. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM AS OTHER 2010 TOYOTAS EXPERIENCED AND HAD THIS SAME PART RECALLED IN 2014 TO ENSURE THE AIRBAG WOULD GO OFF APPROPRIATELY IF NEEDED.

REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WOULD NOT TURN OFF, EVEN AFTER THE FUSE WAS PULLED. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED ON AND STOPPED WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. THE NORMAL WIPER CONTROLS ON THE WIPER COLUMN DID NOT WORK. CHARGE TO REPLACE IT WAS $500.00

ABS LIGHT CAME ON. DIAG CODE: C1391. ABNORMAL LEAK IN ACCUMULATOR. THIS PROBLEM IS SIMILAR TO A RECALL ON PRIUS 2010 FOR ABS BRAKE ISSUE. HOWEVER, TOYOTA SAID THAT MY PRIUS IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST TOYOTA TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR MY PRIUS 2010 SO THAT I CAN SAFELY DRIVE THIS CAR.

BRAKES TURNED TO MUSH - PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH ALMOST ZERO STOPPING POWER. SOUNDS LIKE A SIMILAR RECALL FROM 2013 OR SO. GOING 45 MPH (SPEED LIMIT) ON A BUSY 4 LANE HGHWAY APPROACHING STOPLIGHT AND SLOWING TRAFFIC FOR RED LIGHT AT INTERSECTION OF ANOTHER 4 LANE ROAD. BRAKES MOSTLY UNRESPONSIVE. ALMOST WENT THROUGH INTERSECTION AND NARROWLY MISSED HITTING A SLOWING CAR. BRAKING DID NOT ENGAGE PER USUAL ACTIVATION POSITION AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR INSTEAD. CAR WAS JUST SERVICED A WEEK AGO FOR UNRELATED RECALL ITEM. CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED DILIGENTLY SINCE NEW PURCHASE IN 2009, GETTING ALL RECALLS SERVICED PROMPTLY. MAYBE THE RANGE OF VINS IN THE OLDER RECALL WAS NOT WIDE ENOUGH?
