SUNROOF EXPLODED DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A CLEAR NIGHT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA OF REDLANDS (LOCATED AT 921 NEW YORK ST, REDLANDS, CA 92374, (909) 793-0300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS INOPERABLE, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V684000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM) ON FEBRUARY 27, 2019; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
THE CAR WAS MOVING WHEN THE TRACTION LIGHT, ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. THHE BRAKES FELT A LITTLE DIFFERENT THEN. I COULD STILL BRAKE BUT THEY WERE MORE STIFF.
I OWN A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS WITH 97K AND IT IS IMMACULATE. IN MARCH 2019, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (AN ELECTRONIC COMPONENT IN THE DASHBOARD CONTAINING THE GAS GAUGE, SPEEDOMETER, AND GEAR POSITION) STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY ONE DAY UPON STARTING THE CAR. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT A FAULTY CAPACITOR ON THE LOGIC BOARD WITHIN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS THE CULPRIT. TOYOTA CAN REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BUT ONLY AT MY COST AND FOR OVER $1000. TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE TO EXTEND MANUFACTURER WARRANTY ON THIS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROBLEM, BUT IT ONLY APPLIES TO 2004-2009 MODELS. THIS ELECTRONIC ISSUE HAD NOT BEEN ENTIRELY RESOLVED BY TOYOTA IN LATER MODELS AS MANY OTHERS ARE FACED WITH THE SAME ISSUE. AM I MONETARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER? DOES NHTSA HAVE ONGOING SUPPORT TO PRIUS OWNERS FOR THIS ISSUE? SHOULD I FILE A SMALL CLAIMS LAWSUIT? *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I HIT THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE FASTER THROUGH A LIGHT THAT HAD JUST CHANGED FROM GREEN. AS SOON AS I DID THAT MY CAR LOST POWER AND A BUNCH OF EMERGENCY LIGHTS CAME ON, I IMMEDIATELY GOT ON THE SHOULDER. NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OTHERWISE I WOULD'VE BEEN IN A WRECK. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS WERE STILL THERE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE UP TO ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR A FEW BLOCKS TO A PARKING LOT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY INVERTER THAT OVER HEATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
MY CAR GOT STALL ON THE ROAD, IT HAD A PROBLEM RELATED WITH THE HYBRED SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS IN A RECALL LIST. SO THEY FIXED BUT THEY DAMAGED THE SUSPENSION OF MY CAR AND NOW THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX IT. MY CAR IS MAKING A NOISE WHEN I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND ALSO WHEN I BRAKE. MY CAR WASN'T MAKING SUCH NOISE BEFORE THE STALL ON THE ROAD. I AM FRUSTRATED WITH ALL THIS PROBLEMS IN MY CAR.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF/FAIL. I HAVE REPLACED 7 LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS IN THE PAST YEAR, FOUR IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. IN THE TWO MOST RECENT CASES BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED WITHIN MINUTES OF EACH OTHER WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAD A TOYOTA DEALER CHECK THE WIRING HARNESS PER TOYOTA WARRANTY NOTICE AFTER THE LAST OUTAGE AND THEY STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG. WHEN I HAD THE LIGHTS CHECKED BY A DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALER IN JAN 2019 THEY INDICATED THE SOCKET FOR THE BULB WAS MELTED. BULBS HAVE GONE OUT UNDER, WET, DRY, HOT, AND COLD CONDITIONS. THE MOST RECENT OUTAGE OCCURRED ON MARCH 8, 2019 WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE..
WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND GOING OVER A ROUGH ROAD SURFACE, OR POTHOLE, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT APPEARS, AND THE BRAKES SUDDENLY STOP FUNCTIONING UNTIL BACK ON A SMOOTH ROAD SURFACE. THIS HAPPENS ALL OF THE TIME UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. IT IS REALLY SCARY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES ALL BRAKING WHILE TRYING TO STOP. I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS AND A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS. THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS NOT A FULL RECALL ON THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION.
VIN # : (XXXX) ON FEBRUARY 26, 2019, I ASKED AUTONATION TYOTA BUENA PARK ( AUTO NATION) TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AND REPLACE THE INVERT ASSEMBLY AS PER THE RECALL NOTICE LETTER FROM AUTONATION. ALSO, I EXPLAINED THAT MY CAR'S INVERTER AND ENGINE COOLANT WERE REPLACED ON NOVEMBER 19, 2015 WITH SHOWING THE INVOICE OF DCH TOYOTA OF SIMI VALLEY AND I HAD SAME OVERHEATING PROBLEM AS BEFORE IN SUMMER 2018. ON FEBRUARY 27, 2019, AUTONATION EMAILED ME AS PER THE ATTACHED COPY HERE THAT THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE CAME TO AUTONATION AND DID NOT APPROVE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE (218,542) OF MY CAR. ON FEBRURY 28, I PICKED MY CAR BUT I WILL DRIVE AFTER RECEIPT OF TOYOTA'S CONFIRMATION THAT VEHICLE IS SAFE I BELIEVE THAT THE INVERTER ASSEMBLY SHOULD BE REPLACED REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE FOR MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY IF MY CAR HAS EXPERIENCED INVERTER FAILURE. ALSO, I FILED MY COMPLAIN WITH NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY DEPARTMENT. PREVIOUSLY HAD NO ISSUES WITH LOW-BEAM LIGHTS. USED IN THE MORNING- WORKING FINE. CAME OUT AFTER WORK AND BOTH LOW-BEAM LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON. HIGH-BEAM LIGHTS WORK FINE. CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IN PARK WHEN LIGHTS WERE ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON. TRIED TURNING LIGHT SWITCH AND CAR OFF/ON MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT SUCCESS. HAD TO DRIVE HOME IN THE DARK WITH HIGH-BEAM LIGHTS.
TOOK PRIUS IN FOR COIL REPLACEMENT AND WAS TOLD THE COOLING FAN WAS FAILING AND THERE WAS A LEAK FROM THE WATER PUMP. COOLANT LEVEL WAS NOT TO THE LOW POINT AT ANYTIME AND WAS CHECKED AND REFILLED IF NOT FULL, THE TEMP WARNING HAS NOT COME ON. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT A HEAD GASKET IS BLOWN AND THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THE CAR IS NOT EVEN AT 200K AND HAS HAD ALL ROUTINE MAINTENCE AND RECALLS COMPLETED.
ABS FAILED. WARNING LIGHTS DO NOT APPEAR. HEARD OTHERS HAVE SIMILAR ISSUE. TOYOTA WILL FIX THE ABS ONLY IF THE WARNING LIGHTS APPEAR. WARNING LIGHTS APPEAR ONLY WHEN CAR IS NOT ON COMPLETELY. BRAKES WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. BRAKES WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING. LIGHT BULB LEAKS MOISTURE HAS SINCE PURCHASE. LIGHT BULBS BLOW FREQUENTLY.
UPON BRAKING (EXACERBATED BY WET OR SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AND HARD BRAKING) THE ABS SYSTEM DOES NOT BEHAVE AS EXPECTED. INSTEAD OF PULSATING TO MODULATE THE AMOUNT OF BRAKING FORCE AND SLOWING DOWN THE VEHICLE THE BRAKES WILL COMPLETELY STOP ENGAGING WHILE THE CAR TRAVELS A MODERATE DISTANCE (E.G. 10 FEET) BEFORE THE BRAKES KICK IN AGAIN.
WHEN YOU TURN HEADLIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHT GO BLACK CAN'T SEE ANY THINGS O IT
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE ENGINE STARTED SHAKING, THE STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKED UP AND THE ENGINE CEASED UP AS THE CAR SHUT OFF. GOT ERROR CODE P3190 FOR POOR ENGINE POWER, AND THEN A DAY LATER EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, THE FIRST TIME WAS IN A 2002 PRIUS.
HEADLIGHT WOULD BURN OUT A YEAR AFTER REPLACEMENT. MANUFACTURER ISSUED A VARIANT OF A RECALL INTENDING TO PROVIDE A FIX FOR HIGH RATE OF BURNOUT. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO A DEALERSHIP TO RECEIVE THE FIX AND THE DEALERSHIP CAUSED A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER APPARATUS. WIPERS WOULD NOW WORK IF THE HEADLIGHTS WERE OFF, BUT WOULD NO LONGER WORK ONCE THE HEADLIGHTS WERE TURNED ON. THIS WOULD OCCUR WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING.
HAD TO REPLACE MY HEAD GASKET
ABS SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE DRIVING, NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED BUT DEFINITELY COULD HAVE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ABS SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE BUT THEY DECLINED FIXING IT FREE OF CHARGE DUE TO MILEAGE, AND THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE OF $3000 TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR A KNOW ABOUT. TO MY UNDERSTANDING A RECALL IS A RECALL REGARDLESS TO MILEAGE AND I ALSO ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM 1 YEAR AGO AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NO PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF TAMPA BAY (1101 E FLETCHER AVE, TAMPA, FL 33612: (813) 402-1323) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ABS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Prius. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 220,000.

NTHSA Recall ID: 13V235000 Toyota Case#: [XXX] Very dissatisfied with Mr. Lxxxx's denial of our inclusion in the customer support program. He seemed to reach for every imaginable escape hatch to say "no". Claiming 2 notices were sent out (to the correct address) between December 2017 and March 2018, neither of which reached me, is dubious to say the least. The likelihood of our remaining a Toyota "family" with the eventual replacement of our 3 vehicles (including a previously unmentioned 2017 Rav4) has shrunk considerably. Shame on Toyota North America. ---------------------------------------------------------- (earlier Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11:31:54 PM EDT) Dear Mr. Oxxxxx: I’m writing to express my distress at being disqualified for this expensive safety recall about which I was never notified by mail and, despite receiving maintenance and inspections at the dealership in slim 2-year period between the mailer and the expiration, was not notified of the recall. The phone agent, Ms. Xxxxxx, was very courteous, opened the case, and informed me of the 2018 mailing about the recall, which I did not receive. I’m quite diligent about recall notices, we are a Toyota “family” with a Sienna in addition to the 2010 Prius, and records will show we’ve always attended to recalls for which we’ve been notified, going all the way back to our first purchase of a new Camry in 1997. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine had overheated and blown the head gasket. The engine was replaced, and the failure was remedied. IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 MONTHS AND NO REMEDY (SOFTWARE UPDATE) HAS BEEN RELEASED FOR NHSTA RECALL # 18V684 (HYBRID SYSTEM MAY SHUTDOWN AND CAUSE STALL J0V). I AM MOVING AND NEED THIS ISSUE FIXED BEFORE I GO OVERSEAS.
AUTOMOTIVE PAINT IS UNSTABLE. ON THE SIDES THERE ARE SEVERAL POINTS. MANY PAINT CHIPS IN FRONT OF THE CAR. THE MACHINE QUICKLY RUSTS.
ELECTRIC STEERING MAKES THE STEERING WHEEL HARD TO TURN AND IS ERRATIC. DEALER SAID THE CAR NEEDS A NEW STEERING MOTOR/COLUMN. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. MY RESEARCH HAS FOUND OTHER MODEL PRIUS WITH SILIRAR PROBLEMS AND ALSO THE RAV4 HAS STEERING ISSUES. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. MY WIFE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR. AND I HAVE PARKED IT. DEALER WANTS ALMOST 3000$ TO REPLACE.

THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES), ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. TOYOTA OF HOLLYWOOD (6000 HOLLYWOOD BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 90028, (323) 498-2260) WAS NOTIFIED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND EXCLUDED THE VEHICLE FROM THE BRAKE SYSTEM RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THERE'S A VOLUNTARY RECALL THAT TOYOTA IS DOING ON THE PRIUS RIGHT NOW THAT SEEMS DANGEROUS AND POORLY EXECUTED. THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS HAS A DEFECT THAT CAUSES IT TO BURN OUT HEADLIGHTS OR SHORT OUT IN A WAY THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WON'T WORK. SOMETIMES YOU CAN GET THE HEADLIGHTS WORKING AGAIN BY WIGGLING THE WIRING HARNESS, BUT I'VE HAD THIS OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON BACK COUNTRY ROADS AND YOU JUST HAVE 1 HEADLIGHT, WHICH SEEMS SUPER DANGEROUS. TOYOTA WON'T FIX IT UNLESS YOU COME IN WITH THE HEADLIGHT BUSTED WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND EITHER DRIVE THE CAR AROUND ILLEGALLY WITH 1 WORKING HEADLIGHT OR JUST NOT DRIVE IT FOR A WEEK WHILE YOU WAIT FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT AND THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS WITHOUT HOOPS TO JUMP THROUGH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER SAFELY. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE TURNED THE OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PENSKE TOYOTA OF COVINA (1800 E GARVEY AVE S, WEST COVINA, CA 91791, (626) 859-7400) TO BE REPAIRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DISCLOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
I AM ENTERING THIS COMPLAINT BASED ON READING DOZENS OF ACCOUNTS THAT RESEMBLE MY ISSUE EXACTLY. TEN MINUTES INTO A FORTY MINUTE DRIVE THREE LIGHTS SUDDENLY CAME ON, THE BRAKE, ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS. THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY BECAME SOFT, REQUIRING 50-60% MORE EFFORT TO STOP THE CAR AND DRASTICALLY REDUCED STOPPING TIME. THIS OCCURRED ON A DARK COUNTY ROAD, AFTER A LIGHT SNOWFALL AND TEMPERATURES IN THE MID-20'S. I QUICKLY PULLED INTO A CHURCH PARKING LOT TO CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND FOR ANY BROKEN BRAKE LINES. I ALSO SHUT OFF THE CAR HOPING TO CLEAR THE ERROR, WHICH IT DID NOT. FLUID LEVELS LOOKED NORMAL AND I DECIDED TO PROCEED THE REMAINING 25 MILES OF MY DRIVE AFTER ENSURING THAT I COULD STOP AS NEEDED. AFTER 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING 45-55MPH THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND BRAKING POWER WAS INSTANTLY RESTORED TO 100%. I HAVE NOT TAKEN MY CAR INTO THE DEALER YET, BUT PLAN ON NOTIFYING THEM.
I HAD NOT ANY PROBLEM WITH BREAKS AT ALL....ONCE AFTER TAKING A LEFT TURN.......CHECK PCS SYTEM WITH OTHER LIGHTS LIKE WARNING, SLIPPARY, ABS, FRONT BREAKS,CAME ON. EMERGENCY LIGHTS KEEP FLASHING EVEN IF YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF. I TOOK OFF THE FUSE 16 FOR TURN SIGNALS...EVERYTHING CAME NORMAL....ONLY THAT I DONT HAVE TURN SIGNALS. AS SOON AS I PUT THE TURN SIGNAL FUSE BACK...EMERGENCY LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND CHECK PCS SYSTEM WITH ALL OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE CAR FOR $ 150.00.....NO CLUE....SAID THEY WILL CHARGE ME EXTRA $550.00 TO FIND PROBLEM.....ON THE SECOND DAY EVENING THEY SAID I NEED TO REPLACE ABS ACTUATOR WILL COST ME $ 4500.00

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF POWAY (13631 POWAY RD, POWAY, CA 92064, 858-486-2900) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THEY WOULD SEND HER A CLAIM NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,450.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAFETY RISKS OUTLINED IN THE FOLLOWING MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: J1V NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 18V684 I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR THE PAST 2 - 3 YEARS AND UNKNOWINGLY MAY HAVE BEEN SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON REPAIRS THAT MAY NOT HAVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CURRENTLY, MY CAR IS NOT RUNNING AS I EXPERIENCED A STALL (11/09/2018) WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY AT A HIGH SPEED WITH THE SCREEN READING "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" AND THE DASH LIT UP WITH THE YELLOW TRIANGLE AND EXCLAMATION POINT. I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE DURING THE STALL, BRAKES ARE WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME COUNTLESS TIMES, ALMOST ALWAYS ON THE FREEWAY OR EXITING AND WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WOULD START BACK UP AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF BEING TURNED OFF. THIS PARTICULAR TIME (11/09/2018), I COASTED THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE SPOT AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE NEVER TURNED ON AGAIN. I TOWED THE VEHICLE TO MY RESIDENCE AND THEN TO MY MECHANIC. I AM ONLY ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL. THE MOTOR WILL NOT COME ON AT ALL AND THE SCREEN READS "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM". THE CAR HAD OVER 1/4 TANK OF GAS AT THE TIME. I CURRENTLY USE MY VEHICLE FOR MY LIVELIHOOD DOING INDEPENDENT DELIVERY SERVICES SUCH AS INSTACART, DOORDASH, POSTMATES ETC. SINCE THERE IS YET TO BE A REMEDY FOR THIS SITUATION I WANT TO KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE TO GET BACK THE MONEY I'VE SPENT OR COMPENSATION FOR THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT IS NOT USABLE AND UNABLE TO BE FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER IN A TIMELY MANNER. I CAN PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION IN REGARDS TO REPAIRS MADE AS WELL AS VISITS TO TOYOTA IN WHICH THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE.
I WAS EXITING EXIT 3 OF INTERSTATE 91 IN NEW HAVEN CT AND WAS TRYING SLOW DOWN AND STOP BUT WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. I PUMPED THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE BRAKES STILL FAILED. I STEERED THE CAR TO THE LEFT TO AVOID DIRECTLY COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND WOUND UP SCRAPING IT AND CRASHING INTO INTO A BARRIER. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 PRIUS AND AM OUTRAGED THAT THE COMPANY HAS BEEN WILLING TO GAMBLE WITH MY SAFETY AND THAT OF OTHER PRIUS OWNERS. I DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO SCAN DOCUMENTS BUT THE CLAIM NUMBER IS ALLSTATE 0523873875 AND THE CT STATE POLICE INCIDENT REPORT IS 1800537795.
TOYOTA HAS PERFORMED WHAT THEY PURPORT TO BE THE SAME RECALL, EOE, TWICE. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS PERFORMED, IT WAS PERFORMED WITHOUT ADVANCE NOTICE TO ME, AND WITHOUT EXPLANATION, EXCEPT THAT IT NOT BEEN PERFORMED BEFORE ON MY VEHICLE, AND WAS REQUIRED. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE, AND AFTER RETURNING FROM THE DEALER, I CHECKED MY RECORDS, AND I DETERMINED THAT THE EOE RECALL HAD IN FACT BEEN DONE THREE YEARS EARLIER, IN 2015. SUBSEQUENT CONTACTS WITH TOYOTA AND THE DEALERS INVOLVED HAS NOT PROVIDED AN EXPLANATION, REGARDING THE NEED TO ESSENTIALLY RE-DO THE SAME EOE RECALL, EXCEPT AS A PART OF THE LATEST RECALL, WHICH CURRENTLY HAS NO REMEDY. THIS LATEST RECALL, NHTSA NO. 18V-684, STATES 'A PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL MAY NOT HAVE BEEN FULLY COMPLETED . . . '. THE STATEMENT IS VAGUE, AND NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO TELL ME WHY ANY PRIOR RECALL WAS NOT FULLY COMPLETED, WHEN THE SERVICE INVOICE INDICATES SUCH RECALLS WERE IN FACT FULLY COMPLETED. TOYOTA TELLS ME OTHER OWNERS ARE AFFECTED, NOT JUST ME. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE FROM TOYOTA, INDICATING THE WORK DONE FOR THE FIRST EOE WAS IN ANY WAY INCOMPLETE, SUCH THAT IT NEEDED TO BE DONE TWICE. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THE SECOND EOE INSTALLED DIFFERENT SOFTWARE, BUT I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING, SINCE THE SECOND EOE RECALL IS BEING DONE IN A NON-TRANSPARENT MANNER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE OWNERS ARE NOT BEING MADE AWARE OF POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VEHICLES, AND IT IS UNCLEAR IF THE REMEDY HAS BEEN PROPERLY VETTED.
I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS, IT OVERHEATED AND THE RED LIGHT OR THE WARNING TEMPERATURE LIGHT NEVER TURNED ON, SO NOW I THE CAR HAS A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD, THAT MEANS I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.
TIRE BLEW OUT ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT WARNING. IT WAS A GENERAL ALTIMAX RT43 SIZE 195/65 15.WITH ABOUT 9300 MILES ON IT. TIRE HAS SEVERAL BLOWN OUT SECTION IN THE SIDEWALL.

INTERMITTENTLY, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AT ONCE WHILE DRIVING: TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE, AND ABS LIGHTS. WHILE ON, BRAKING IS LESSENED, BRAKES FEEL SPONGY, AND THE BATTERY GENERATION INDICATOR SHOWS NO ENERGY BEING PRODUCED. I FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE. FOR ME, THE PROBLEM HAS COMES AND GOES, AFFECTING ABOUT 50 PERCENT OF MY DRIVING TIME.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,400.
