HORN DOES NOT WORK WHEN WHEELS ARE STRAIGHT. HORN WORKS WHEN WHEELS ARE TURNED COMPLETELY LEFT ONLY. I BELIEVE IT IS THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY. TOYOTA WANTS $1,093.00 TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES HAVE PLACED A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RECALLED ON THIS VEHICLE. HAVE RESEARCHED THIS SAFETY PROBLEM ON OTHER PRIUS VEHICLES AND MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME HORN PROBLEMS. MY PRIUS 2011 HYBRID BURNING LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT EVERY ONE OR TWO MONTH. IT IS HARD BECAUSE NO ONE HAVE SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS NOT JUST CHANGING THE HEADLIGHT EVERY ONE OR TWO MONTHS BUT THE PROBLEM IS SAFETY, ON HIGHWAY ONCE THE LIGHT GOES DOWN. IT HAPPENED TO ME! IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE.
THE BRAKES ARE PUMPING SLOW SPEEDS AND THE VEHICLE MAKES MUCH MORE NOISE. THE CAR MAKES BUZZING SOUND EVERY 30 SECONDS OR SOONER. A REPAIR PERSON SAID IT IS THE ABS ACTUATOR THAT IS ABOUT TO FAIL.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, WITHOUT WARNING, I LOST POWER ASSISTED BREAKING ABILITY - ACCOMPANIED BY A NUMBER OF DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE USING MANUAL BREAKING. I HAD THE CODE CHECKED AND HAVE LEARNED THAT THE (CODE 1391) BRAKE ACCUMULATOR FAILURE IS A COMMON ISSUE IN THE PRIUS AND HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO A RECALL/REPLACEMENT FOR THE YEARS PRIOR TO MY MAKE (I BELIEVE 2008-2010). CLEARLY THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE AND THE SUDDEN/NO-WARNING FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM CAUSES AN ALARMING AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS LOSS OF BREAKING CONTROL DURING HIGH SPEED DRIVING. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT USING THE BREAKS AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE AND WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE MANUAL BREAK PADS WERE SERVICEABLE BUT I NEEDED TO RAPIDLY INCREASE THE PRESSURE ON MY BREAKS TO SLOW DOWN SUFFICIENTLY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT.
TAKATA RECALL MY 2011 PRIUS HAS AN ISSUE WHERE THE BRAKE BECOMES SPONGY AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. THE BRAKE, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATE SIMULTANEOUSLY. AFTER RESETTING THE COMPUTER, THE ISSUE COMES BACK WITHIN 10-30 MINUTES OF DRIVING AT RANDOM. TOYOTA TOLD ME IT IS A $3,000 FIX AND THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY YEAR. MY CAR HAS 110,393 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-50 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. MARIETTA TOYOTA (750 COBB PKWY S, MARIETTA, GA 30060, (770) 422-1490) WAS NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000.

JUNE 29TH 2018 WAS IN THE CAR WASH GOING THORUGH WHEN THE DASH BOARD PANEL SAID TRACTION BATTERY LOW PUT IN PARK THE BATTERY INDICATOR SHOWED ONE BAR LIGHT ON BUT I COULDNT PUT IT IN PARK FOR I WAS STILL GOING THORGH CAR WASH WHEN IT WAS DONE WASHING PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WAS VERY SLOW IN DRIVING IT TOOK IT AWHILE TO COME BACK UP IN POWER JULY 6TH TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALER AND I THINK THEY THOUGHT I WAS NUTS THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH OF A THING HAPPING LIKE THAT. THOUGHT MATBE IT WAS THE NEW BATTERY THEY PUT IN MY CAR IN MARCH OF 20018 SO I WANT THIS ON RECORD THAT I HAD IT CHECKED EVEN CALLED AND CHECKED ON LINE IF THERE WAS A TRECALL ONLY THING I FOUND WAS A 2014 RECALL ON MY YEAR BUT NOT MY VION OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SOFTWARE. IS IT POSSABLE THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR. HOPE YOU CAN GIVE ME A ANSWER
HORN STOPPED WORKING. ONLY WORKS WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED LEFT OR RIGHT. FORUMS HAVE POSTED THAT IT COULD BE THE SPIRAL CABLE FROM OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS. THIS REPLACEMENT IS OVER $1,000.
ON UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES (WASHBOARD ROAD, MANY SMALL POTHOLES, GRAVEL ROADS, ROUGH ROAD SHOULDERS) BRAKES WOULD GIVE OUT IF BRAKING HARD. IF FELT LIKE ONCE ABS KICKED IN THE BRAKES WOULD GET ALMOST COMPLETELY RELEASED. THE CAR WOULD BRAKE JUST FINE ON FLAT SURFACES, WET OR DRY. I HAVE MULTIPLE VEHICLES AND KNOW HOW ABS BRAKES WORK BUT THOUGHT THE PRIUS BRAKES WERE JUST A BIT MORE SENSITIVE AND I HAVE TO WATCH MY DISTANCES MORE CAREFULLY AND AVOID HARD STOPS. THEN ON APRIL 23, 2018 THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE SOME STRANGE NOISE BUT NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I CONTINUED DRIVING AND NOTICED THE BRAKES WERE WORKING ONLY INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER I ALMOST CRASHED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BREAK IN TRAFFIC I LIMPED BACK HOME AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE REPAIRS TO REPLACE BRAKE PUMP AND CYLINDER ASSEMBLIES COST $4,193.31 BUT THE CAR WAS DRIVEABLE AGAIN. HOWEVER, I NOTICED THAT THE REPAIRS ALSO CORRECTED THE ABS PROBLEM THAT WAS PRESENT SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. I THINK ANYONE WHO DRIVES A 2011+ PRIUS SHOULD GET THEIR BRAKES CHECKED FOR EMERGENCY BRAKING WHERE BRAKES STOP WORKING THUS ALLOWING THE CAR PLOW AHEAD EVEN IF THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DOWN TO THE FLOOR.

THE DEALER (UNIVERSAL TOYOTA IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS) DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE PUMP FOR THE BOOSTER/ACCUMULATOR WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 180-4162-158. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE BURNING OUT WITHIN A WEEK OF INSTALLATION. WHEN BULBS ARE REPLACED, ONE OF THE TWO BULBS WILL BURN OUT WITHIN A WEEK, YET THE OTHER BULB WILL STAY ACTIVE. BOTH SIDES ARE AFFECTED. IT RANDOMLY CHOOSES WHICH SIDE TO BURN OUT.
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. THE BRAKE , ABS AND TRACTION LIGHTS CAME ON ALL AT ONCE. I SOMEHOW MADE IT HOME BUT I COULD HAVE EASILY CRASHED. I HAD MY 9 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT AND HE ALSO GOT VERY SCARED. NOW I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR AND THE BRAKES FEEL AS THEY AS STUCK AND VERY HARD. I TOOK MY CAR TO A REPUTABLE MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME IT IS GIVING HIM CODE C1391. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE 2010 PRIUS HAD UNDER THE RECALL. MY PRIUS IS 2011 AND NOT UNDER THE RECALL. I FEEL THAT THE 2011 SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL BECAUSE MANY THOUSANDS OF LIVES ARE IN DANGER NOW.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PART WAS AVAILABLE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,480. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

I WAS AT AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH YESTERDAY AND AFTER THE WASH FINISHED I PULLED OUT OF STALL WITH HARDLY ANY BRAKES.I WAS NOT ABLE TO PUMP THEM AND HAD TO TAKE MY CAR INTO A MECHANIC THE BRAKE ACTUATOR WAS OUT AND THE CAR IS UNDRIVABLE.THE PRICE FOR THE PART ALONE IS OVER 2500.00 I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IS WAS A RECALLED ITEM BUT NOT FOR THE YR OF MY CAR. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC OR AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED I KNOW I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE.

BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY HAS A SLOW LEAK. SOLENOID KEEPS MAKING NOISE AND THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY MAKES CONSTANT NOISE. WHEN BRAKING HARD IT DOES NOT STOP PROPERLY. BRAKING COMES TO A SLOW STOP AND BUT PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE HARDER TO KEEP THE CAR FROM ROLLING FORWARD. CONFIRMED FROM TECHNICIAN AT DEALERSHIP YET ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO REPLACE IT WITHOUT ERROR CODE (ZJB PROGRAM). CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE AND THEY SAID WITHOUT ERROR CODE FROM VEHICLE THEY WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THE REPAIR. DESPITE CONFIRMATION FROM THE TECHNICIAN THAT THERE IS A LEAK IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE IS IN THE HANDS OF A ERROR CODE. ASKED CORPORATE IF THEY CAN OVERRIDE THE ERROR CODE AND THEY REPLIED NO.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE USED CAR DEPARTMENT AND WAS INFORMED THAT VEHICLES WERE NOT MADE LIKE THEY PREVIOUSLY WERE AND WAS ADVISED TO PURCHASE A NEWER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHEN I GO OVER A BUMP OR POTHOLE AND PUT ON THE BRAKES THE CAR ACCELERATES. TOYOTA CLAIMS IT IS JUST HOW THE ABS BRAKES FEEL, BUT THE CAR ACTUALLY SPEEDS UP WHEN I BRAKE. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. SO FAR NO ACCIDENTS.

I WAS DRIVING ALONG ON THE FREEWAY TRYING TO GET HOME AND SUDDENLY MY PRIUS LOST POWER. I WAS PANICKING, GOOD THING I HAD MY BROTHERS WITH ME OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE LOST IT. WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON! WE MANAGED TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY SAFELY, BUT WE WERE DISTRESSED.

CONSUMPTION PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND WILL PROBABLY RESULT IN HAVING THE ENGINE BLOCK REPLACED WITH A USED ONE AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $5,000

DASH BOARD KEEPS BEEPING, YET I HAVE REPLACED THE KEY BATTERY 3 TIMES AND NOW DEALER SAYS KEY NOT DETECTED, YET CAR RUNS SO THE KEY IS DETECTED BUT THE BEEPING WILL NOT STOP. TOOK TO DEALER PAID 89.99 FOR DIAGNOSTIC PER DEALER. DEALER NOW SAYS THE LEFT HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED FOR $1802 PLUS TAX. I FEEL MANUFACTURER SHOULD ALLOW CONSUMERS WHO BOUGHT THERE PRODUCT BE GIVEN INFORMATION ABOUT HISTORY OF FAULTY ELECTRICAL WIRES EVEN WHEN IT IS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD. MY TOYOTA PRIUS WARNING LIGHTS BRAKE,ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON. I CHECK WITH THE DEALER AND IT SAID MY ACCUMULATOR WAS LEAKING. THIS PART ALONE IS $2600 PLUS $500 IN LABOR. MY CAT HAS 41,900 MILES ON IT. THIS PART IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE 09-10 MODELS HAD A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. AMAZING THAT THE SAME PART EXCISE IN NEWER MODELS BUT NO RECALL. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT'S THE MOST EXPENSIVE PART OTHER THEN THE HYBRID BATTERY. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WHEN THTHE LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY BRAKES RELEASED WHEN DEPRESSED AND I ALMOST HIT THE CAR WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT. MY KIDS DRIVE THIS CAR OFTEN BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE AND INEXPENSIVE FOR GAS. PERFECT FOR A KID WITH NOT A LOT OF INCOME. BUT, NOW THEY CAN'T BECAUSE OF THE RISK AND THE PRICEY REPAIR. IF YOU LOOK AT FORUMS THIS IS A WORLDWIDE COMMON PROBLEM AND TOYOTA NEEDS TO FIX IT. NOT JUST A RECALL FOR TWO YEARS OF THE VEHICLE. IF I HAD THE MONEY, I WOULD TAKE THEM TO COURT. I'M JUST A LITTLE MAN THOU. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA HAS OBVIOUSLY GOTTEN AWAY WITH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S HORN LOST FUNCTIONALITY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
ABS BRAKE LIGHT AND TRACTION LIGHTS ARE ON. C1391 INTERNAL FAILURE IN BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY.
WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED ON DURING THE DAY (I.E. WHEN IT IS RAINING), THE LIGHTED PANEL ON THE CONSOLE FADES TO UNREADABLE. SINCE THE SPEED IS INDICATED ON THE CONSOLE, WE CANNOT MONITOR OUR SPEED DURING THESE TIMES. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN WE ARE HIGHWAY DRIVING. MY TOYOTA SERVICE DEALER DID NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIRING THIS PROBLEM, NOR DID THEY RESPOND TO THREE SURVEYS THEY AND TOYOTA SENT TO ME IN WHICH I OUTLINED THE PROBLEM.
WHILE IN MOTION WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKES FAILED. RAPID BEEPING WITH BRAKE LIGHT ON. I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS NOTHING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THIS VEHICLES ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME PARTS FOR THE 2010 PRIUS, NOT 2011 - 2015
THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT FOR THE SAME VEHICLE AND THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE FIRST OCCURRED 11/11/2016. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT IN THE SAME PARKING LOT. AS I TURNED INTO THE SPOT AND RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR MY CAR ACCELERATED. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE STRIKING ANOTHER CAR OR THE HANDICAPPED RAMP.
THREE WEEKS AGO THE BRAKES FAILED AT A STOP LIGHT ON A CITY STREET AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH. THE BRAKE FLUID APPEARED TO BE LOW SO WE OPENED A NEW BOTTLE OF FLUID AND FILLED THE RESERVOIR WHICH SEEMED TO TEMPORARILY REMEDY PROBLEM AND NOTHING COULD BE DIAGNOSED BECAUSE NO LIGHTS WERE ON IN DASH. THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN WITH THE BRAKES FAILING AND THE DASH LIGHTS COMING ON WHILE AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET. WE HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED AND WERE TOLD IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY, BOOSTER PUMP ETC. AND WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AT $6400. THE CAR HAS 82,925 MILES AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED.
BOTH HEADLIGHTS WON'T TURN ON. HOWEVER, WHEN I PRESS AND HOLD THE LEVER FOR BRIGHT LIGHTS, THE LIGHTS WORK ON THE "BRIGHTS" SETTING. LIGHTS DON'T WORK WHEN I'M DRIVING.
CAR HAD RECALL FOR CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAGS. TOOK AUTOMOBILE TO DEALER TO PERFORM CORRECTIVE ACTION FOR RECALL. DEALER STATES THEY WILL NOT PERFORM REPAIR AT ALL, AS THERE IS AN AFTER MARKET SUNROOF INSTALLED. DEALER THAT ORIGINALLY SOLD CAR INSTALLED SUNROOF PRIOR TO MY PURCHASING THE CAR NEW. THEY WILL NOT ASSIST IN FINDING A SOLUTION. TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE SAID THEY WOULD NOT HELP AND THAT THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO HELP AS SUNROOF IS AFTER MARKET. CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES THAT THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO PERFORM RECALL REPAIRS.
DUE TO FAULTY HEADLIGHT WIRING AND ASSEMBLY, HEADLIGHTS WILL BURN OUT REGULARLY OR BE TOO DIM FOR SAFE USE. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE IN USE, AT NIGHT. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AND IS A DOCUMENTED/KNOWN ISSUE WITH TOYOTA. THIS IS NOT A MILD ANNOYANCE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
THE HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT, I HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE 3 TIMES IN 12 MONTHS AND THE PASSENGER SIDE TWICE. I ONLY USE SYLVANIA BRAND, BUT HAVE SWITCHED TO DIFFERENT BRIGHTNESS TO SEE IF IT HAS ANY IMPACT, IT HAS A SLIGHT IMPACT BUT NOT MUCH. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT ON WHEN NOT NEEDED.
PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT AT NIGHT, PARKED, TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF, SHUT CAR OFF, RETURNED TO THE CAR, STARTED IT AND BOTH LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT COME ON. HIGH BEAMS WORK FINE. NOT A FUSE ISSUE BECAUSE HORN WORKS. TURNING THE LIGHT SWITCH ON THE STALK TURNS ON THE DASH INDICATOR LIGHT BUT NOT THE LOW BEAMS OR THE PARKING LIGHTS.
