TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THERE WERE RODENTS ENTERING THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CABIN AIR FILTER DID NOT HAVE A MESH GRILL WHICH WAS ALLOWING THE RODENTS TO ENTER THROUGH A HOLE IN THE CABIN AIR FILTER THEN INTO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT CONSOLE AND INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WIRES WERE SOY BASED CAUSING THE ATTRACTION OF RODENTS TO THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR AN INSPECTION. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ALSO CONTACTED WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE CABIN AIR FILTER DID NOT HAVE A MESH GRILL WHICH RESULTED IN THE RODENTS ENTERING THROUGH A HOLE INTO THE CABIN AIR FILTER THEN ENTERING INTO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT CONSOLE ACCESSING THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE A HARDWARE CLOTH GRILL WAS INSTALLED ON THE CABIN AIR FILTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND RODENTS WERE NO LONGER ENTERING THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS REQUIRED TO CLEAN THE FECES REMAINING IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE UTILIZING A MASK, GLOVES, AND DISINFECTANT AND IN ORDER TO AVOID CONTACT WITH A VIRUS FROM THE FECES, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED NOT TO VACUUM LET THE VIRUS BECOME AIRBORNE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE RAT FECES IN THE VEHICLE COULD RESULT IN A FATAL DISEASE IN THE EVENT A CHILD WOULD RIDE IN THE VEHICLE AND ACCIDENTALLY EAT THE FECES. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT IF RODENTS ENTERED THOUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT AND DEFECATED INSIDE, ACTIVATING THE AIR CONDITION UNIT IF THERE WAS FECES, A VIRUS COULD BECOME AIRBORNE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE THEN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN OUTSIDE INFLUENCE WHICH WAS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TOOK IN CAR FOR OIL CHANGE /TIRE ROTATION , A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION FROM TOYOTA ON TO MY PRIUS V , CAR WENT FROM GETTING 40 MPG HIGHWAY TO 32-33 MPG HIGHWAY . CITY MPG DROPPED FROM 41 MPG TO 36-37MPG . DEALER CLAIMS CAR HAS WRONG TIRES WHICH I AGREE, EXCEPT THOSE TIRES WERE THE SAME TIRES ON THE CAR BEFORE AND AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. CALCULATED THE GAS MILEAGE MYSELF BEFORE THE RECALL AND WAS PRETTY CLOSE TO WHAT THE CAR'S COMPUTER SAID TI WAS , CALCULATED THE GAS MILEAGE AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS DONE AND IT CAME VERY CLOSE TO WHAT THE COMPUTER SAID.
THE HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED, OTHER TIMES THEY GO OFF AFTER HAVING BEEN ILLUMINATED.
SINCE 2014 I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE DRIVERS SIDE BRIGHT AND DIM HEADLIGHTS ABOUT EVERY 4-6 MONTHS AND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ABOUT EVERY 8 - 10 MONTHS. IS THERE A RECALL WITH A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS? I GOT A WARNING TICKET THIS MORNING AND DRIVE TO WORK IN THE DARK AND HOME IN THE DARK. MY ROUND TRIP IS 140/MILES DAILY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION EACH TIME THEY HAVE GONE OUT. I HAD THE CASING CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T A PROBLEM WITH VIBRATION AND THAT WAS FINE. I NO LONGER GO TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS BECAUSE THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE, BUT HAVE A SMALL SHOP CHANGE. I AM PICKING UP HEADLIGHTS FROM HELENA FORD/TOYOTA ON MY WAY HOME SO THEY CAN POP THEM IN WHEN I GET TO THREE FORKS, MT.

REALLY APPALLING THAT THE AIRBAGS WARE NOT DEPLOYED AFTER A BIG COLLISION WHEN THE WHOLE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS SMASHED AS SEEN IN THE PIC.THIS HAPPEN ON DOWNTOWN ARE IN COLUMBUS IN 5 AND SPRING I
MY 2008 TOYOTA PRIUS'S DASHBOARD INDICATORS (ODOMETER, WARNING SIGNS AND EVERYTHING) SHOWED SYMPTOMS OF DISAPPEARING MOMENTARILY DURING SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR 2016. UPON RESTARTING, IT USED TO COME BACK. HOWEVER, ON FEBRUARY 18, 2017, THE DASHBOARD LIGHT WON'T COME BACK EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE TIME RESTARTING. DROVE TO WORK IN THAT CONDITION HOPING THE DASHBOARD INDICATORS WILL COME BACK BUT THEY DIDN'T. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT ON MONDAY. BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT, THE INDICATORS CAME BACK SO I CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENTS. WHEN DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM WITH A FRIEND, I WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR SUCH REPAIRS. UPON HEARING THIS, I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO INQUIRE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS EXPIRED AND CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVING WITHOUT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA SHALL ADDRESS FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.
MY FRONT AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DIDN'T OPEN WHEN MY CAR WAS HIT ON THAT SIDE BY ANOTHER CAR DRIVEN BY A LADY WHO RAN A STOP SIGN; AND STRUCK MY MOVING CAR; TOTALING MY CAR. I SUFFERED SERTOUS CHEST, NECK AND BACK SPRAINS THAT STILL L BOTHER ME. I WAS STRUCK PRETTY HARD, I SUFFERED A TERRIBLE JOLT TO MY CHEST AREA WHEN MY CAR CAME TO A HARD STOP, AND I STILL HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS ACCIDENT COSTS ME MY JOB AND I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO STAND OR WALK FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.
PIVOT BOLT INSIDE STEERING WHEEL CAME LOOSE, WAS WARNED IT HAD DROPPED TO WHERE IT COULD INTERFERE WITH BRAKE LINKAGES. FILED COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA AND NEVER HEARD BACK SO FILING THIS COMPLAINT. (1) A LARGE BOLT INSIDE A SEALED AREA SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COME LOOSE IF INSTALLED CORRECTLY (MANUFACTURING ERROR - SINGLE INSTANCE OR SYSTEMATIC?) AND (2) A LOOSE BOLT SHOULD NOT BE A RISK FOR A POSSIBLE CATASTROPHIC OUTCOME - LOSS OF BRAKES (DESIGN FLAW, LINKAGES SHOULD NOT BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BEING JAMMED - THAT'S WHAT THEY WARNED ME ABOUT WHEN THEY ASKED FOR THE $330 TO FIX IT). THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REGULAR SERVICING, THEY TOLD ME THE STEERING FELT FUNNY.
MICE IN CABIN. SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS CAR (BOUGHT NEW) I'VE HAD SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE MICE GET INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I'VE LOOKED ON-LINE AND HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS. MOST HAVE SAID THEIR DEALERS DENY ANY DESIGN PROBLEMS AND WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. FRUSTRATING!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE HESITATED PRIOR TO ACCELERATING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE MASTER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE ONLY CODE FOUND WAS RELATED TO LOW FUEL ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD A FULL TANK OF FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND MADE THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V053000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,795.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 21 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT ALSO FAILED TO HOLD THE DRIVER IN PLACE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED STERNUM, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,569.
THERE WAS A RATTLING OR KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH AREA OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WHENEVER DRIVING OVER BUMPS AT SLOWER SPEEDS ON CITY STREETS, OFTEN FELT TRAMSMITTED TO THE STEERING WHEEL. UPON TAKING IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER, THEY FOUND THAT THERE WAS FREE PLAY IN THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT, WHICH THEY SAID, COULD EVENTUALLY FAIL. IT HAD TO BE REPLACED.
WHILE DRIVING TO A GET TOGETHER THE BACK SEAT MIDDLE PASSENGER RESTRAINT BECAME SEPARATED FROM THE LOCKING CLIP THAT HOLDS SEAT BELT OVER PASSENGERS LAP. MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. IT WILL NOT CLIP TOGETHER ANYMORE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAD NO PROBLEMS AT THAT TIME.
MY TOYOTA PRIUS 2012 HEADLIGHTS ARE REPEATEDLY BURNING OUT. LAST BULBS LASTED 3 DAYS. I'VE BLOWN OVER $200 ON DIFFERENT BULBS. I DRIVE FOR A LIVING. THIS IS MURDERING MY BUSINESS.
DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM, SECURITY ISSUE, VEHICLE WILL NOT LOCK DUE TO FAULTY LOCK ACTUATOR--- MAY EFFECT OTHER ACTUATORS. VEHICLE STATIONARY AND ON START UP FOR MOTION.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION STARTED 70,000 MILES. BURN OIL 1QT EVERY 1000 MILES GETTING WORSE

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AWAY FROM THE CRASH SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
I WAS DRIVING, TRYING TO PARK MY CAR, WHEN THE STEERING (POWER FAILED) IT TOOK ALL MIGHT STRENGTHEN TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE CAR WAS SERVICED BY TOYOTA REGULARLY - THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS SIGNS OR INDICATORS THAT ANY PROBLEM EXISTED. STEERING SYSTEM FAILED; HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. AT 50,000 THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SAID THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED, NOT GETTING ANY ELECTRICITY TO THE STEERING COLUMN. NEEDED A NEW STEERING COLUMN.
I WAS DRIVING THE 2012 PRIUS ON A DOWNHILL PARKWAY AT ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM CAME ON. WITHIN 10 SECOND, THE VEHICLE TOTALLY LOST POWER. IT AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THERE WAS NO BACK UP FAIL-SAFE/LIMP HOME MODE. FORTUNATELY THE CAR WAS GLIDING DOWNHILL BY GRAVITY AND EVENTUALLY WAS STEERED INTO A DRIVEWAY. THEN IT REFUSED TO GO ON READY OR DRIVE MODE. ON THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED HOME. IT HAD TO BE TOWED AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE THE FOLLOWING WEEK. IT TOOK THE MECHANIC TWO DAYS TO MAKE A DIAGNOSIS THAT A FUSE ON THE MAIN DRIVE BATTERY HAD BLOWN. ANOTHER DAY WAS SPENT WAITING FOR THE PART. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THIS EVENT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I CONTACTED TOYOTA USA. AN AGENT NAMED MICHAEL WAS COURTEOUS ENOUGH TO LISTENED TO ME AND GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER 1604142245. TO ANYONE WITH COMMON SENSE, THIS TOTAL LACK OF AN EMERGENCY ALTERNATIVE PROPULSION SYSTEM FOR EVEN A CHEAP CAR IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT EVEN COME UP WITH A PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FUSE TO BLOW. WAS IT OVER HEATING? WAS THERE A SHORT IN SOME INTERNAL BATTERY CELLS? THIS PAST WEEK, I NOTICED THAT THE CHARGING PART OF THE OPERATION NO LONGER CAN FULLY CHARGE THE BATTERY TO THE FORMER 11.9 MILE RANGE. IT ONLY CHARGES UP TO 9.8 MILES. THIS IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF 2 MILES OF CHARGE. I SUSPECT THAT SOME LITHIUM CELLS HAVE BEEN DAMAGED AFTER THE INCIDENT. I ALSO SUSPECT THAT THERE MAY BE OTHER ISSUES AS WELL SUCH AS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE INVERTER MODULE RELATED TO A RECALL ON OTHER MODELS OF PRIUS DURING MY SEARCH FOR AN ANSWER. I NEED ASSURANCE FROM SOMEONE THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOW SAFE TO DRIVE. BESIDES THE CASE NUMBER FROM MY COMPLAINT TO TOYOTA USA, AAA HAS RECORD OF MY RECENT TOWINGS ON 04/09/16 AND ON 04/12/16.
MY PRIUS WAS JUST FINE THEN ONE DAY IT STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREE WAY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO ELMORE TOYOTA IN WESTMINSTER, CA, THEY FOUND IT HAD A FAILED INVERTER AND IT WAS STILL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS FOR THEM TO FIX IT, BUT WHEN THEY RETURNED MY CAR, THE SLIP INDICATOR WAS NOW ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THEY CLAIM IT WAS LIKE THAT PRIOR TO THE FAILED INVERTER, THIS WAS FALSE, MY CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECT. THEY THEN WANTED TO CHARGE ME NEARLY $1K TO FIX A PROBLEM I DID NOT HAVE PRIOR TO FAILED INVERTER. I FEEL THE SITUATION WAS CONNECTED BUT THEY REFUSE TO COVER IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS V. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE POSITION OF THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD REST FAILED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SUPPORT. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED PAIN TO THE HEAD, NECK, LOWER BACK, AND LEFT LEG THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
MY PRIUS IS USING 1 QUART OF OIL PER 900 MILES, THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DID A OIL STUDY AND VERIFIED THAT INDEED THE CAR IS USING 1 QUART PER 900 MILES, BUT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND STATED MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND COULD BE REBUILT FOR 9000 DOLLARS-THIS IS A COMMUTER CAR ONLY AND HAS ONLY BEEN USED FOR OPEN ROAD DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
NOISE ("CLUNKING") WHEN TURNING LEFT & RIGHT AS IF THERE IS "PLAY" OR SOMETHING IS LOOSE SOMEWHERE IN THE STEERING SYSTEM. WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY AND UNDERSTAND THERE WERE PREVIOUS RECALLS OF THE SHAFT ON PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS. DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING SHAFT AS DEALER SUGGESTS IF NOT NECESSARY.
THE REAR HATCHBACK LATCH IS WEAK AND THE LATCH ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS PREVENTS THE REAR HATCHBACK DOOR FROM BEING OPENED OR MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO OPEN. IT WILL COST JUST SHY OF $700 TO FIX. OF THE FOUR PRIUSES MY FAMILY HAS OWNED (PRIUS 2005 AND 2 PRIUS 2007 AND PRIUS V 2012) HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE REAR HATCHBACK LATCH. TOYOTA PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN IN THE LIMP-HOME MODE AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE PAST 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INVERTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,475.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
HEADLIGHTS LOW BEAM FAIL EVERY MONTH OR SO AND I HAVE REPLACED 16 BULBS IN LAST YEAR. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR US. ALSO THE COST IS GREAT. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE HEADLIGHTS BEFORE IN OTHER VEHICLES. WHEN IS A RECALL GOING TO BE DEMANDED ? WHEN SOMEBODY IS KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS
VEHICLE IN MOTION WHEN STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT RELEASED AND WOULD NOT RELOCK CAUSING THE STEERING COLUMN TO MOVE FORWARD AND BACK, UP AND DOWN. THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD NOT STAY FIXED IN ONE POSITION. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REMOVED THE STEERING COLUMN AND REINSTALLED A BOLT THAT HAD COME OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND REINSTALLED THE BOLT WITH THREAD LOCK. COST OF REPAIR WAS $532. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND OTHER MODELS SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR THE LOOSE BOLT.

BRAKE BOOSTER W/ MASTER ECM COMMUNICATION MALFUNCTION -UNABLE TO COMMUNICATE AND PERFORMS ABS, ANTI SLIPPERY AND BRAKE PEDAL TO LOW. THE MALFUNCTION INCLUDES WARNING LIGHTS PANEL TO STAY ON.
THE PRIUS C IS MADE IN JAPAN. THEY ARE COATING THE WIRING AND SEAT FOAM WITH SOYBEAN OIL AND PEANUT OIL. MICE ARE NOW EATING THE WIRING AND SEAT FOAM AND ANY ELECTRICAL OR RUBBER PARTS IN THE PRIUS C
CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A 18+ CAR ACCIDENT. TRAVELING AT APPROX 55MPH ALL TRAFFIC CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. THE CAR DID STOP BEFORE IMPACT. DRIVER PRESSED HIMSELF TO THE SEAT WHILE SLAMMING ON BREAKS. A CAR SLAMMED INTO THE BACK OF THE PRIUS WHICH SHOT THE PRIUS FORWARD, WEDGING IT BETWEEN THE 2 VEHICLES IN FRONT OF IT. UPON IMPACT WITH THE CARS IT WAS SLAMMED INTO THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK. DRIVER FLEW FORWARD BREAKING BONES IN HIS FACE AND OBTAINED INJURIES TO A KNEE FROM IMPACTING THE CONSOLE, AND WHIPLASH. A CHILD PASSENGER IN THE BACK SEAT OBTAINED A KNOT ON HEAD AND WHIPLASH. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE BELT ELR DID NOT ENGAGE. THE CAR WAS DEEMED TOTALED.
BRAKES ARE VERY SENSITIVE DURING WET WEATHER. IT TAKES GREAT EFFORT TO AVOID A SKID. ONCE THE BRAKES WARM UP THE PERFORMANCE IS NORMAL. THE DEALER RESURFACED THE FRONT ROTORS WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM IN THE SHORT TERM. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS RETURNING.
WIFE IN ACCIDENT WITH SIDE IMPACT AND FRONT IMPACT APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH RAN OFF OF A ROAD WITH NO SHOULDER SIDE IMPACT WITH OAK TREE THEN FRONT IMPACT WITH ANOTHER OAK TREE. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MY PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR JUST COMPLETELY FELL OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS RARELY BEEN USED (MY CAR IS A 2012 WITH HIGH MILES AND MOST OF THE TIME I TRAVEL ALONE). THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A DISTRACTION OR CRASH. I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHER TOYOTA MODELS / YEARS.

THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED WHIPLASH. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER'S COLLISION CENTER WHO REPAIRED THE BODY DAMAGES AND WAS TO SEND A THIRD PARTY TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE THE REMEDY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
BRAKES SOMETIMES GRAB VERY SHARPLY WHEN TOUCHED WHILE IN MOTION, CAUSING FORWARD MOMENTUM OF BODY TO SLAM ON BRAKES. ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT WHEN I TOUCHED BRAKES WITH SOMEONE TAILGATING TOO CLOSELY. ALSO TRACTION IS INTERRUPTED WHEN HITTING THE METAL ABUTMENT TO BRIDGES.
VEHICLE HAD LITTLE OR NO BRAKING POWER IN A PANIC STOP SITUATION. THIS WAS LIKELY CAUSE BY A DELAY SWITCHING FROM REGENERATIVE BRAKING TO MECHANICAL BRAKES.
WIND SHIELD WIPER SWITCH QUIT WORKING AT 62,500 MILE.THE WIND SHIELD WIPER MOTOR IS NOW MAKING GRINDING NOISES AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED(74,000 MILES). BOTH PARTS BROKE WHEN WE WERE TRAVELING OUT OF STATE,DURING RAIN STORMS.
THE NAVIGATION, BLUETOOTH & RADIO SYSTEM WAS TURNED OFF ON IT OWN AND BECAME CORRUPTED WHEN THE CAR DEALERSHIP TRIED TO UPDATE THE SYSTEMS SOFTWARE. THE HARDWARE WAS THEN RENDERED INOPERABLE AND THE SYSTEMS COMPUTER WAS THEN REPLACED, THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE DEFECTS IN THE SYSTEM. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR EXCEEDED $1000US. DUE TO THE DEALERSHIPS ACTIONS IN TRYING TO RUN A SOFTWARE UPDATE, THE REPAIR COSTS WERE PAID BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE FAILURE OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM SEEMED TO BE KNOWN BY THE CAR DEALER. TOYOTA WAS NEVER DIRECTLY CONTACTED BY CAR OWNER AS ONLY THE CAR DEALER HANDLED THE REPAIR ISSUES.
OVER THE LAST NINE MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BULBS IN MY 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS 6 TIMES. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THEY STATED THAT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS NOT USING TOYOTA CERTIFIED BULB AND I PAID OVER $150 TO HAVE THEM INSPECT THE HEADLIGHTS AND REPLACE THE BULBS. AFTER I HAD THE CERTIFIED BULBS INSTALLED, A BULB WENT OUT AGAIN. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED NEW WIRING FOR A COST IN EXCESS OF $250.00. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT TSB-0204-12 WAS ISSUED FOR FOR 2010-11 PRIUS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THE 2012 PRIUS HAVE THE EXACT SAME WIRING HARNESS, BUT THAT TOYOTA WAS NOT GOING TO FIX THAT PROBLEM FOR TEH 2012 MODELS AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO ABSORB THE COST MYSELF.
I HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS APPROXIMATELY EVERY THREE WEEKS. I HAVE BOUGHT AND REPLACED 5 SETS SINCE OWNING THE CAR IN JUNE 2015. I CURRENTLY HAVE 40,000 MILES ON THE CAR.

AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO FULLY INFLATE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE CHEST THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DEEMED THE VEHICLE DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS CONTINUALLY FAIL, AND ARE VERY DIM EVEN AFTER INSTALLING NEW BULBS. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE BULBS NO LESS THAT 4 TIMES SINCE 2012! NOT ONLY IS THIS AN EXPENSE, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, POSES A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD. THERE IS NO WARNING OR SPECIFIC MILEAGE. I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULBS IN ANY OTHER CAR I'VE OWNED. SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR THIS TO CONTINUALLY BE HAPPENING.
