Found car tampered with cut in carpet under driver seat to check battery maintenance per Toyota owner manual where hybrid battery was not receiving charge , was running hot Unknown person impersonated me registered my VIN to enroll with Toyota upgraded software app Entune version not with purchase is a 2021 software version with parental like controls, I took to Toyota dealerships below for assistance , new battery and hybrid faulting losing charge, car does not provide hybrid fault notice , loses charge , uses little gas , I researched on side of road to rest throttle and work around as I was driving it could have lost all power and stalled per recall notice needed hybrid software update Ran dr Prius app and finding recalls serviced at Toyota chambers burg pa are coding J0V issue w/inverter not completed and additional engine & battery codes almost causing my car to not enter fail safe mode hybrid battery almost fully discharged as approaching Bay Bridge Service notes from Fitzgerald day there were no issues specific repair request was for diagnostic report of car hybrid battery and sensor check, they claim no issue Only repair was replaced fob key although car at location 10 days, missing fuses found upgrade causes car to get 2-4mpg and burn battery hot/discharge without any dash or other warnings from car Safety recall notice no. 18v-684 are indicative of car symptoms Since incident Easton Md Toyota Service, Arlington Va Koons, Hagerstown MD Toyota and chambers burg refused to provide diagnostics Chambers burg held car did not perform service claiming no issues but noted cut carpet under driver seat above hybrid air vent battery cool/ intake Problem still an issue no Toyota will run diagnostics -
The brake, abs, and stability control light come on and the brakes require more pressure to function. The problem is intermittent, but has been happening more often and for longer. The rotors, pads, and brake fluid were looked at within the last month and have no issues. I am getting a code C1391 Abnormal Leak in the Accumulator. I went into Toyota of Fort Walton Beach, FL to remedy a recall (NHTSA Recall Number 18V684). She said that this recall is not on their list and thus would do nothing. I want this recall repaired as presently there is a safety risk. There are phrases in this recall of "1 unrepaired recall" and "Recall incomplete".
Brake Booster assembly has failed on my car preventing the regenerative braking to function normally and it could potentially lead to the brakes failing all together. Upon further research it seems to be a common issues with these vehicles and Toyota has a "Customer Support Program" under the code "ZJB" that will replace the faulty brake booster assembly. My car is still technically covered under the service bulletin that Toyota sent out but when I called several dealers and Toyota corporate, they notified me that my car was ineligible due to mileage. I was quoted over $3,000 at various dealers to replace the part to what amounts to a basically very expensive brake job. I am concerned for my safety in terms of the brakes failing while driving. This is my only vehicle and I have started to resort to driving on the city streets as opposed to the freeway.
The brakes felt very spongy and the car was having a difficult time coming to a complete stop. The ABS, brake, and stability control lights turned on at the same time. Also, a whirring noise close to the passenger side started happening every 2-3 seconds. After some research I later learned that the noise is most probably coming from a brake pump assembly that has failed and is not able to keep pressure. The car is currently parked since I don’t feel safe to drive it. I contacted a local dealer to see if this part can be changed for free since this is not normal wear and is unsafe. I also learned in online Prius owner forums that there is a large group of Toyota Prius owners with the exact same issue.

BRAKE BOOSTER SLOWLY FAILING.... WHEN PRESSING BRAKES IT DOESN'T SMOOTHLY HOLD PRESSURE
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Prius. The contact stated while attempting to use the horn, the horn failed to operate as needed. The contact also stated that the front passenger’s air bag warning light illuminated and then turned off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the clock spring failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic who confirmed the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the manufacturer communications regarding the clock spring assembly repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
MY TOYOTA PRIUS 2012 WITH 95K MIL. ABS, TRACTION AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, THE BREAKING WASN'T LIKE USED TO BE, IT WAS MUSHY AFTER THE WARNING LIGHTS, TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY ESTIMATED $3500 FOR THE BRAKE REPLACEMENT THE FAULT CODES C1241, C1247, C1391 FOUND BREAK BOOSTER AND PUMP ASSY, NEEDED. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BY TOYOTA, ITS SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE IT HAD 41K MILES AND REGULARLY MAINTAINED THE CAR THROUGHOUT MY OWNERSHIP PERIOD.
MY TOYOTA PRIUS V ONLY HAS 121,153 MILES ON IT AND DURING A SHORT DRIVE TO WORK WHERE WE NEVER REACHED SPEEDS OVER 50MPHS OUR PRIUS V OVERHEATED CAUSING A BLOWN HEAD GASKET AND ALL SORTS OF COMBUSTION ISSUES. THE REPAIRS WERE $3000. THIS IS A 2ND FAMILY CAR WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED BY EXPERT, LICENSE AUTO MECHANICS. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN ON A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILAGE! I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUES WITH THIS TOYOTA PRIUS MODEL AND TOYOTA SHOULD FILE A RECALL AND FIX THE OVERHEATING ISSUES.
ALL THE BRAKE LIGHTS POPPED ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT . THERE WAS A RADAL IN THE ENGINE I GOT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CHECK IT WAS MULTIPLE MIS FIRE SO I CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS .YESTERDAY THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE MOVING AND WOULDN'T GO NO WHERE ELSE . THERE IS A RECALL ON THE CAR THAT MY FIANCE JUST GOT IN THE MAIL AND TOYOTA IN GOLDSBORO NC DOESN'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT .

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRYAN COLLEGE STATION TOYOTA (728 N. EARL RUDDER FWY, BRYAN, TX 77802, (979)776-0404) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE TECHNICIAN CHANGED THE OIL AND ONE WEEK LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 220,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAIILABLE. ## VIN FAILED ## 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS ##
Three doors stopped opening and closing with the remote key and inside lock/unlock buttons in a span of three weeks. Not able to open and close the door with the remote key or lock/unlock button is a safety risk. Toyota confirmed that all three door lock actuators failed. Each one costs $800 to replace with a total cost of $2400. It is inspected by Toyota dealership, Toyota 101, 386 convention way, Redwood City, 94063. The car had only 36,448 miles. The problem appeared all of a sudden. First one lock failed. Soon all three locks failed.
MY HORN NO LONGER WORKS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTY SPIRAL CABLE. ACCORDING TO INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET, THE SPIRAL CABLE ALSO PLAYS A ROLE IN THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER AIRBAG. THIS PART WAS UNDER A RECALL FOR VEHICLES A COUPLE OF YEARS PRIOR. I FEEL THAT IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE THEN IT SHOULD ALSO BE FIXED UNDER RECALL. THE DEALER PRICE TO FIX THIS IS OVER $800. I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH TOYOTA #210-128-2281, BUT THEY DON'T SEE IT AS A SAFETY CONCERN AND WILL NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE TO REMEDY THE FAULTY CABLE.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN BURNING OIL FOR THE PAST 10,000 MILES. VEHICLE HAS HAD ALL SERVICES AND SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGES DONE FROM DAY 1 AT THE DEALERSHIP. OIL CHANGES EVERY 5,000 MILES SINCE DAY 1. AT 90,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED BURNING OIL EXCESSIVELY. COMPLAINTS AND DIAGNOSTICS WERE ATTEMPTED AT TOYOTA FRANCHISE DEALERSHIPS BUT THEY FAILED TO FIND THE ISSUE. FINALLY AT 100,000 MILES THE ENGINE FAILED DUE TO HEAD GASKET FAILURE. THIS VEHICLE IS CLASSIFIED AS A PARTIAL ZERO EMISSION VEHICLE AND IT IS REGISTERED IN A STATE THAT FOLLOWS CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCE BOARD REGULATIONS AND IS BEING SERVICED IN A STATE THAT FOLLOWS AS WELL. UNDER THE PZEV REGULATIONS, TOYOTA WARRANTIES EMISSION RELATED COMPONENTS FOR 15 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. UNDER TOYOTAS WARRANTY GUIDE IT STATES SEALS AND GASKETS ARE COVERED. THE MANUAL DOES NOT CLARIFY ANY FURTHER LEAVING THE COVERAGE LEVEL VAGUE AND QUESTIONABLE. UPON TRYING TO GET TOYOTA TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, THEY GAVE US A WEEK OF NO RESPONSES AND FINALLY DECLINING THE CLAIM EVEN WHEN THE MANUAL STATES IT SHOULD BE COVERED. THE OIL BURNING ISSUE WITH THIS MOTOR IS A BIG PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN TRYING TO COVER UP. TOYOTA IS QUOTING $13,000 FOR ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THEY HAVE A SERVICE BULLETING REGARDING THE OIL BURNING BECAUSE IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT THEY ONLY HONOR CLAIMS UNDER THE 5 YEAR 60,000 MILES POWER TRAIN WARRANTY.
2012 PRIUS C SUDDEN INVERTER FAILURE CAUSED CAR TO STALL ON BUSY STREET, PUTTING DRIVER AT SERIOUS RISK. CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED NEWER MODEL WITH MODERATELY LOW MILEAGE AND NO PRIOR ISSUES. CAR IS NO LONGER OPERABLE UNTIL INVERTER IS REPLACED. TOYOTA HAS HAD PRIOR LAWSUITS, COMPLAINTS AND RECALLS DUE TO INVERTER FAILURE. MY SPECIFIC VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL, BUT SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL BULLETINS POSTED BY TOYOTA AND COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE. TOYOTA REFUSES TO INCLUDE MY VIN UNDER RECALL.
ABS , TRACTION CONTROL,BRAKE LIGHTS ON. NO POWER ASSIST BRAKE, NO ABS, NO TRACTION CONTROL
ON 11/3/2020, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH. AFTER RESEARCHING THE COMBINATION OF LIGHTS AND SOUNDS FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL I DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR IS FAILING. PER MY RESEARCH, CONTINUING TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF BRAKING ASSISTANCE. OTHER TOYOTA PRIUS MODELS ARE COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTIES (REFERENCE ZJB), BUT THE PRIUS V MODELS, WHICH USE THE SAME ACTUATOR, ARE NOT. AN ACCIDENT/INCIDENT HAS NOT YET OCCURED, BUT THIS SEEMS LIKE A HUGE CASE OF NEGLIGENCE ON TOYOTA.
There has been a safety recall on my vehicle for the years 2004-2009 models of the Toyota Prius, but my model year is 2012 and I have the exact same issue. 1) My check engine light comes on and off and it appears to be the hybrid electric water pump issue related to the coolant. The cap pops off and spills out. 2) When the light comes on, I am assuming the car is starting to overheat and is putting myself and my 3 year old daughter at risk as this is the primary car we use to transport her. We have just stop taking her out at all due to this issue. When the car overheats, I pull over and it can be risky as sometimes, I am on the highway or local streets. I do not want this issue to cause problems for other other drivers as well while I am trying to pull over where ever I am. 3) The problem as I stated above has been acknowledge by you and Toyota but just for 2004-2009 models. 4) The problem has not been inspected by Toyota, the police, or third party. I have been the only person checking the car and I am using a diagnostic check engine light tool to read the code and looking under the hood to find the coolant pump leaking and popped out just as indicated in the recall for other models. 5) Yes, the check engine light and high temperature light goes on and off. The issue first appeared around November of 2020.
A RECENTLY PURCHASED USED TOYOTA PRIUS V WHICH WAS OWNED BY A DEALER A MATTER OF 2 MONTHS AGO WAS SOLD TO ME AND THE ABS/BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILURE BEGAN. THE VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF THE 150K/10YR WARRANTY THEY WANT TO COVER, HOWEVER IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HAS ALREADY NEARLY CAUSED ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT AS THE BRAKE POWER MASSIVELY FLUCTUATES. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE 75MPH FROM PHOENIX TO TUCSON APPROX 120 MILES. THE LIGHT CAME ON PART WAY THROUGH AND SUDDENLY THE BRAKES WENT FROM BEING SENSITIVE AND RESPONSIVE TO NEEDING A LOT OF PRESSURE APPLIED TO PROPERLY SLOW. WHEN A DIESEL BIG RIG SWERVED IN FRONT OF ME TO AVOID AN OBSTACLE THAT I WOULD EASILY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BRAKE FROM TYPICALLY, I WAS NEARLY SLAMMED INTO THE BACK END OF HIM WITH VERY LITTLE POWER. THE LIGHT FLIPPED BACK OFF ABOUT TIME I MADE IT TO TUCSON, THEN WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A DANGEROUS INTERSECTION ON MY WAY THROUGH CITY STREETS HOME CROSSING KOLB AND VALENCIA (A SITE OF MANY AN ACCIDENT), I NEARLY WENT INTO THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE BRAKE SYSTEM SUDDENLY CUT OUT AGAIN. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY I'D HAVE TO COVER 2500 TO REPLACE WHAT IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD ONLY GO 11MPH. WHEN I GOT TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER THE HYBRID SYSTEM SHOWED FAILURE AND SEVERAL OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. THE CAR HAD A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR POWER MANAGEMENT COMPLETED IN 4/2019. THIS IS AN INVERTOR FAILURE

THE MECHANIC LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE INVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK MALFUNCTION.DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN WITH KEYLESS REMOTE OR BY RESTING MY HAND ON THE DOOR HANDLE WHICH SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY OPEN ALL DOORS. I TRIED USING ELECTRONIC UNLOCK BUTTON INSIDE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND ALSO WON'T OPEN.IT APPEARS TO BE A BAD DRIVERS SIDE UNLOCK ACTUATOR WHICH HAS SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT ITS OBVIOUS THIS PART IS NOT BUILT CORRECTLY. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE YOU CAN GET LOCKED INSIDE VEHICLE.
WHEN IDLING THERE IS A LOUD RATTLE AND MULTIPLE RANDOM MISFIRES IN THE ENGINE. APPEARS TO BE A HEAD GASKET LEAK PROBLEM FROM READING FORUMS. I HAVE BEEN TO MULTIPLE REPAIR SHOPS THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM.
IT IS HAVING HEAVY MISS FIRE WHICH MAKE THE ENGING SHAKING TOO MUCH MANY TIMES
AT ABOUT 100,000 MILES THE ENGINE BEGAN USING (BURNING) OIL AT THE RATE OF ABOUT 1 QUART EVERY 1000 MILES. NOW AT 150,000 MILES THE OIL USAGE IS 1 QUART PER 500 MILES. THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED USING THE RECOMMENDED LUBRICANT MORE OFTEN THAN REQUIRED SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS REDESIGNED THE PISTONS AND RINGS BUT BUT OFFERS NO FINANCIAL HELP FOR CARS OFF WARRANTY. THE DEALER ESTIMATED REPAIR COST IS OVER $5000.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2012 PRIUS C AND I'M MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC MY CAR LOST ITS POWER, THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO PARK THE CAR. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT'S THE INVERTER. I ADVISED THAT I HAD READ ON RECALLS ON THEM THEY SAID MY CAR DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL THEY ARE WANTING ME TO PAY 4K FOR A NEW INVERTER ( WHICH I KNOW IT'S THE SAME ISSUE OTHER 2012 PRIUS C HAVE HAD ISSUES TOO). IT'S UPSETTING THAT NO INVESTIGATION IS TAKING PLACE JUST SORRY AND OHH BY THE WAY THE EMPLOYEE AT THE DEALERSHIP HANDLING MY CASE OFFERED ME $200 FOR MY CAR SAID I WOULD NOT GET MORE THAN $400 IF I TRIED SELLING IT LIKE THAT. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND CAN'T EVEN TRUST MY OWN DEALERSHIP.

WHEN I LOOKED INTO IT, IT SEEMS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS WITH PRIUS CARS FROM THE SAME ERA. IT IS A DEVASTATING $3,000 REPAIR. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS AGO I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN STARTING THE CAR IN THE MORNINGS OR AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT FOR A WHILE. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD SHAKE AND RUN ROUGH BUT WOULD RUN GOOD AFTER IT WARMED UP. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND A MANIFOLD AND A SENSOR WAS ORDERED BY THE DEALER. THE NEXT DAY I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE PARTS INSTALLED. I SAT IN THE WAITING AREA FOR OVER 2 HOURS ONLY TO BE TOLD IT WAS NOT THE MANIFOLD AND SENSOR. AFTER A SCOPE WAS USED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD I EITHER HAD A LEAKING GASKET OR A CRACKED ENGINE HEAD. THIS PRIUS V ONLY HAS 94245 MILES ON THE ENGINE. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE AT THE TOYOTA DEALER. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT $6000.00. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES USAGE TO NEED A NEW REBUILT ENGINE ESPECIALLY A TOYOTA PRODUCT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA. THE ABS BRAKE PUMP EXPERIENCED AN "INTERNAL FAILURE" AT MILEAGE OF 113K. THERE IS A CUSTOMER SERVICE NOTICE THAT COVERS 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS AND PRIUS PLUG IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE UNTIL 2019, AND THEN UP TO 150K MILES AFTER THAT. HOWEVER, MY 2012 PRIUS V WAS NOT COVERED. THIS ABS BRAKE PUMP JUST SUDDENLY FAILED, THERE WEREN'T ANY LEADING INDICATORS. TOYOTA KNOWS IT SUPPLIED DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR THE ABS BRAKE PUMP. THERE IS ALREADY A LAWSUIT OF OTHER 2012 PRIUS V OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME. HOWEVER, TOYOTA HAS NOT CORRECTED THEIR SERVICE NOTICE. THEY WON'T RELEASE THE DETAILS OF HOW THEY CAN JUSTIFY COVERAGE TO ALL OTHER 2012 PRIUS, AND PRIUS PLUG-IN, BUT NOT PRIUS V. THE REPAIR IS SIGNIFICANT ~ $3,500. ALSO, LAST YEAR MY ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THANKFULLY, THIS HAPPENED ~ 80K MILES, SO IT WAS STILL UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. BUT THIS FAILURE WAS SURPRISING FOR A TOYOTA. I HAD WONDERED WHY I HAD TO CHANGE THE OIL MORE QUICKLY THAN THE RECOMMENDED 10K, I WOULD CHANGE IT EVERY 5-7K, OR AT LEAST HAVE IT CHECKED. IT SEEMS THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR 2020 RAV 4S. I'M SURPRISED THEY HAVEN'T FIXED AN ISSUE FROM A 2012 VEHICLE YET BY 2020.
ENGINE -ENGINE HAVE BROKEN HEAD GASKET. COOLANT RESERVOIR STARTED TO DRAIN. COOLANT SLOWLY LEAKS IN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE DUE TO BROKEN HEAD GASKET. CAUSING SHAKING ENGINE BECAUSE COOLANT CANNOT COMBUST INSIDE THE ENGINE. -ALSO EGR COOLER WAS FULLY CLOGGED BY CARBON THAT CAUSED FAILURE OF CARBON AIR CIRCULATION. BRAKE SLOWLY FAILING BRAKE ACTUATOR IN THE PROCESS. WHEN PRESSING BRAKES, WHINING SOUND IS PRESENT AND BRAKES SLOWLY FAILS TO HOLD PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. -BRAKE SYSTEM WAS FULLY INSPECTED AND NO LEAKS WERE FOUND AND BRAKE FLUID HOLDS IN FULL LEVEL.
MY ABS ACTUATOR HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. I WAS GETTING CODE C1391 WHEN I FIRST HAD THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AND RECENTLY IT FINISHED FAILING COMPLETELY. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT DID AND I SEVERELY LOST BRAKE PRESSURE AND ALMOST GOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT. THIS ISSUE WAS RECALLED ON REGULAR PRIUS HATCHBACKS BUT BECAUSE THE PRIUS V'S ABS PUMP SYSTEM IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TO COMPENSATE FOR THE DIFFERENT WEIGHT OF THE PRIUS V, THE PRIUS V DOEST FALL UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT THE REGULAR PRIUS' HAVE BEEN HAVING WHICH THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON. IM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I HAVE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS THE TOYOTA HELPLINE TO REPORT THIS AND THEY SAY THAT THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME AND THAT MY CAR IS JUST NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THE WARRANTY DIDNT APPLY TO PRIUS V'S EVEN THOUGH ITS THE SAME PART HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I'VE BEEN QUOTED $4,000 TO HAVE THIS FIXED AND I CAN'T AFFORD THAT RIGHT NOW.

THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER BROKE DOWN ON MY CAR. THE WARNING LIGHTS FINALLY CAME ON HOWEVER THE ISSUE WAS NOTICEABLE BEFORE THAT AS THE CAR BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS CREATED SLIGHT STUTTERING STOPS WHEN COMING TO THE END OF A COMPLETE STOP PLUS MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE NOTICED BRAKING WAS GETTING MORE DIFFICULT AT CERTAIN TIMES. TOYOTA PRIUS V 2012 LOST POWER AS I WAS DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I HAD TO MAKE EMERGENCY STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE INVERTER/ELECTRIC MOTOR FAILED. MECHANIC RAN COMPUTER TEST AND FOUND THAT PROBLEM CODES INDEED POINTED TO FAILURE OF INVERTER.I CALLED LOCAL DEALER MCCORD TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD MY CAR DOES NOT FALL TO EXTENDED WARRANTY OF INVERTER AND DID NOT OFFER ANY HELP. SAME DAY I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AT 1-800-331-4331 AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR DOES NOT FALL UNDER INVERTER WARRANTY BASED ON MY VIN NUMBER, AND GAVE ME CASE NUMBER 2005072419. I WAS ABLE TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO ARRANGE TOWING FROM MY LOCATION TO REPAIR SHOP. REPAIR SHOP COMPLETED WORK AND VEHICLE IS NOW IN OPERABLE CONDITION. I FEEL LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT ON FREEWAY AND DID NOT HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME WHEN IT HAPPENED. *TR

2012 TOYOTA PRIUS II, DEALER MAINTAINED, NOW NEEDS NEW ENGINE DUE TO BLOWN HEAD GASKET. MILEAGE 151000. THE CAR HAS RUN PERFECTLY UNTIL A RECENT ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THE DIAGNOSIS WAS MISFIRING OF 2 CYLINDERS AND COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLINDERS 3 AND 4. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS ENGINE PROBLEMS. AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY RESPONDED THAT THERE WAS NO FAULT ON THEIR END AND I SHOULD HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED AT AN AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALER. A SEARCH FOR THIS TROUBLE RESULTED IN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE FAILURE OF HEAD GASKETS IN THIS YEAR AND MODEL PRIUS.
THIS COMPLAINT IS FOR A 2012 PRIUS V THAT I'VE NOTIFIED MY LOCAL DEALER AND TOYOTA ABOUT A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE RELATING TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE PRIUS V IS CURRENTLY NOT INCLUDED IN THE ZJB CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE. BRAKE PEDAL FEELS VERY FIRM AND INCONSISTENT AND MUCH HARDER TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES. THERE IS CONSTANT (EVERY FEW SECONDS) BRAKE BOOSTER ACTUATION/WHIRRING CONSISTENT WITH SYMPTOMS OF A LEAKING/DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER PER MY LOCAL DEALER. WARNING LIGHTS FOR BRAKE, ABS, STABILITY CONTROL, AND TIRE PRESSURE ARE ON.
ABS WARNING LIGHT INDICATING TROUBLE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM, I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR STORE AND THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE CODES ON HIS COMPUTER AND RECEIVED 2 CODES THAT INDICATING THAT THE ABS PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST WOULD BE BETWEEN $3000 TO $5000. THE ABS LIGHT GOES ON WHEN I START THE CAR
1)INTERMITTENT REGEN BRAKING FAILURE CAUSING BRAKES TO BECOME MORE DIFFICULT TO PRESS THUS HARDER TO STOP THE CAR IN A TIMELY MANNER. USUALLY WHEN THERE IS STOP AND GO DRIVING WILL THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING FAIL. 2) CLOGGED EGR VALVE CAUSING A LOUD ENGINE KNOCK RESULTING IN A BLOWN HEAD GASKET.
I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL MAIL REGARDING THE CAR. I USED AN INSURANCE TRACKING PLUGIN, AND ALL THE PROBLEMS STARTED.PCS ERROR MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD, DUE TO A LEAK IN BRAKE BOOSTER THEY SAID. The engine caught fire while sitting in my garage. I had driven it for a few hours doing deliveries for a store and parked it in my garage around 2:30pm. About 1.5 hours later, my wife was coming home and opened the garage door and saw smoke above the hood of my car and then a few seconds later it burst into flames. I believe that it was smouldering for a while and the gust of wind when the big garage door opened gave it the extra push to ignite. The car was bought used and had a front end accident prior to my purchasing it so the electrical system could have melted and started the fire but the inspector that Toyota sent did not give me any copy of his report. It is a 2012 model. I bought the car in 2014, and had it for about 5 years until this happened and completed burned up the car and all the contents of my garage. I had a T-Mobile Sync-up module in the OBD port and it recorded a drop in voltage from around 12 to 5 volts at the time of the fire which I believe was transferred to my phone when I was near it.

I SWITCHED INTO NEUTRAL AND PUSHED THE PARK BUTTON TO PARK. I LEANED FORWARD TO GRAB MY WALLET AND FELT THE CAR ACCELERATING OVER THE PARKING CURB. I IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED THE BRAKES AND THE CAR ACCELERATED INTO A BUILDING. I AM FORTUNATE TO BE ALIVE BECAUSE IF THE AIRBAG WOULD HAVE ACTIVATED, I WOULD HAVE BROKE MY NECK.
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Prius. The contact stated that the passenger's side low-beam headlight failed to provide adequate illumination while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that no issues were found; however, the dealer replaced the headlight bulb. The contact stated that the headlight bulb was replaced several times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
UNLIKE OTHER 2011-2015 TOYOTA PRIUS VEHICLES THE PRIUS V IS NOT COVERED UNDER TOYOTA'S CSP-ZJB CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM. MY 2012 PRIUS V HAS ALL THE INDICATIONS OF THIS BRAKE BOOSTER AND PUMP PROBLEM... MULTIPLE LIGHTS ON THE DASH (BRAKE, ABS, PCS ..... ON; CODES C1252 & C1256; AND BRAKE BOOST PUMP RUNNING EVERY 6-8 SECONDS PLUS A BRAKE PEDAL THAT YOU CAN PUSH TO THE FLOOR IN 4-5 SECONDS. IN HARD BRAKING I'VE HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET STOPPED. IT'S MY WIFE'S CAR BUT SHE WILL NOT DRIVE IT ANYMORE. TOOK THE CAR TO A TOYOTA DEALER WHO WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND STARTED TO HAVE IT FIXED AT THEIR EXPENSE UNTIL HE PUT THE VIN # IN HIS COMPUTER. HIS ESTIMATE WAS $2500+ TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED AFTER I PAID TO HAVE THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED EVEN THOUGH HE KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I DECLINED AND CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE WHICH WAS A WASTE OF TIME...SORRY, YOUR CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND YOUR CAR DOES NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WE WILL COVER. ON THE NET, THERE ARE MULTIPLE PRIUS V OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT STARTED IN 2008. UNTIL SOMEONE WITH A BIGGER STICK (NHTSA), TOYOTA IS SAYING THERE ISNOT A PROBLEM WITH THE PRIUS V BRAKES.
