WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES WENT OUT. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THE PRICE TO DO SO IS ABOUT $3,000 THEY ALSO SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENED AS IN SOME CASES YOU NEVER HAVE TO REPLACE A BRAKE BOOSTER NOR MASTER CYLINDER
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN AN EFFORT WAS MADE TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE ON A 2 LANE ROAD, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE WE WERE PASSING, WE BARELY GOT BACK INTO OUR LANE AND JUST BARELY AVOIDED A HEAD ON COLLISION. THEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO ABOUT 15 MPH AND LIMPED TO A STOP A MILE LATER. WE COULD HAVE DIED.

SE DEBE VERIFICAR PORQUE NO CUBRE LOS OTROS AUTOS YA QUE TIENEN EL MISMO SISTEMA.
BROUGHT CAR IN FOR RECALL J0V00D AND IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS THE ABS,TRACTION-CONTROL, BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. THE LIGHTS WENT ON AND OFF AND THEN STAYED ON. WENT BACK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A $3800.00 REPAIR. WAS TOLD THAT CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS WERE AFFECTED, BUT NOT MY VIN#. NOT SURE HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE SINCE I AM READING ALL OVER THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM ON THIS YEAR CAR ALSO? I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY US 19 IN CLEARWATER, WHEN THIS ALL HAPPENED.
THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH A CHIRPING NOISE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. TODAY THE CAR APPEARS TO LOSE REGENERATIVE BRAKING CHARGING. THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL AND ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. THE BRAKE APPEARED TO BE MUSHIED.
MY 2012 PRIUS C WITH 90,000 MILES BEGAN TO LOSE POWER/SPEED DRIVING WHEN CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING SUDDENLY CAME ON TONIGHT. IT WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO THE GAS PEDDLE, EVEN AT FULL THROTTLE. DID NOT ALLOW ENOUGH TIME TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF A BUSY ROAD BEFORE IT LOST ALL ABILITY TO DRIVE, LEAVING ME STALLED NEAR INTERSECTION. A STRANGER HELPED PUSH MY CAR OFF THE MAIN ROAD UNTIL AAA SENT A TOW TRUCK. HAD THIS OCCURRED ONE MILE LATER, I WOULD'VE STALLED ON THE 25 SOUTHBOUND FREEWAY GOING FROM LONE TREE TO DENVER AT A VERY BUSY TIME IN THE EVENING WITHOUT WARNING (SCARY THOUGHT). UPON ARRIVING HOME WITH THE TOWED VEHICLE, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, REMOVED KEYS, BUT A LOW SOUND I'VE NEVER CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. DASHBOARD WON'T LIGHT UP, NO WORKING HORN, POWER LOCKS, WINDOWS, ALARM. I NOW HAVE NO FUNCTIONING VEHICLE AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED MY CAR TO LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING.
TRANSAXLE IS FAILING AFTER 100K MILES OF NORMAL DRIVING AND MAINTENANCE. SPOKE WITH BOTH A TOYOTA DEALER AND TRANSMISSION SHOP WHO SAID THE CVT FAILURE ON THIS MODEL YEAR AND THE FOLLOWING SEVERAL IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON OCCURRENCE. THIS IS A $5000+ REPAIR FAIRLY EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION SHOP SAID THIS WAS DUE TO POOR INITIAL DESIGN.
INNER LEFT TIE ROD LOOSE, REVEALED WHEN ANNUAL INSPECTION CONDUCTED. TOYOTA HAS NO PART NUMBER FOR THE INNER TIE ROD (EST PRICE $30.00) SO MUST PURCHASE ENTIRE STEERING ASSEMBLY (PART COST = $1,000; LABOR ABOUT THE SAME).
IT STARTED WITH SHAKING ON STARTUP, IDLE AND LOW SPEEDS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DIAGNOSED WITH MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE. IGNITION COILS REPLACED, BUT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SUBSEQUENT ANALYSIS INDICATED COOLANT IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER DUE TO A FAILED HEAD GASKET.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN CONSUMING OIL TO THE POINT WHERE THE VEHICLE NEEDS MONTHLY OIL CHANGES. WAS TOLD MANY TOYOTA PRIUS MODELS HAVE HAD AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE AND THAT I SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT.
MY ENTIRE BREAKING SYSTEM WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON A BUSY ROAD, WHERE I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG, AS I HAD NEVER SEEN THOSE FIVE LIGHTS LIGHT UP EVER, AS THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL ISSUE THAT WOULD EVER BREAK WITHOUT A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A SPECIFIC ISSUE WITH CERTAIN 2011-2015 PRIUS VEHICLES THAT ARE INVOLVED IN A CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM ZJB. I HAVE NOW PAID $100 TO TOYOTA TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM, WHICH WAS NOT NECESSARY, AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY THE EXACT ISSUE (5 LIGHTS LUMINATED) FROM THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM, AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH THE EXACT BREAK BOOSTER ISSUE LISTED IN THE LETTER SENT TO OTHER VIN NUMBERS. I DRIVE CHILDREN AROUND IN THIS CAR, AND THIS ISSUE IS SEVERE AND SHOULD CLEARLY BE FOR A LARGER NUMBER OF CARS THAN THEY ARE ADMITTING. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE $3,000 IN REPAIRS BECAUSE IT IS NOT INCLUDED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE ROAD AND UNBELIEVABLE THAT I WOULD PAY EXTRA MONEY FOR A TOYOTA BECAUSE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFE AND RELIABLE CAR, ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY WILL NOT ADMIT WHEN THEY HAVE A WIDESPREAD BREAK MANUFACTURING ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES. MY ONLY RECOURSE THOUGH TOYOTA I AM TOLD IS TO MAKE A CASE NUMBER AND IF MY VIN HAPPENS TO BE ADDED TO THE LIST, THEY MAY REIMBURSE ME. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL ALL VINS FOR THIS ISSUE, SO CONSUMERS ARE AWARE THAT THEIR BREAKS MAY FAIL AT ANY MOMENT.
OWNER/DRIVER FOUND BLACKED OUT BEHIND WHEEL IN 55 MPH HIGHWAY IN OPPOSING TRAFFIC DITCH. DRIVER AMBULANCED TO HOSPITAL ER. DMV REQUIRES MEDICAL EVALUATION FOR CONTINUED DRIVING PRIVILEGES. DRIVER SUSPECTED CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. SUBSEQUENTLY, DRIVER PLACES RESIDENTIAL CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR INSIDE PRIUS WHICH ALARMED WHILE PARKED AND TURNED OFF AT RESIDENCE DRIVEWAY. MY 2012 PRIUS V STARTED SHOWING THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR BRAKES, ABS, ANTI-SKID AND ENGINE LIGHTS. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A REGULAR ROAD. BRAKES STILL WORK BUT FEEL SPONGY. SCANNED FOR CODES AND IT SAYS C1391 WHICH REQUIRES REPLACING ALL THE MAIN BRAKE COMPONENTS. THE COST IS OVER $3000 BECAUSE SO MANY PARTS INVOLVED. THERE'S SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A RECALL FOR OTHER MODELS OF PRIUS BUT THE 'V' NOT INCLUDED. MANY V OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. ALL THE PARTS SHOWN IN THE ATTACHED PICTURE NEED TO BE REPLACE CAUSE TOYOTA DOESN'T KNOW OR CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE THE PROBLEM IS. CAR ONLY HAS 68,000 MILES ON IT
THE ENGINE WENT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. LUCKY ENOUGH, I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR SAFELY WITHOUT ANY COLLUSION. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED WITH EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF ENGINE OIL. THE ENGINE HAD CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE AND NEEDED A REPLACEMENT. I SPOKE TO PIERCEY TOYOTA SERVICE DIRECTOR KEN JOHNSON AND HE STATED THERE IS NO ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE AND DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS THE VEHICLE ISSUE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IS THE CASE, FURTHER INVESTIGATION IS NEEDED TO PREVENT OTHER SAME MODEL DRIVERS FROM A DEADLY ENGINE STALLING CRASH.
11/15/19 ORIGINALLY THE CAR SHOWED BRAKE, ABS, ANTISKID AND ENGINE IDIOT LIGHTS WENT TO THE DEALER WITH A CODE C1391. THEY SAID I NEED TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE POWER BOOSTER FOR $2600. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS POLICY TO ALSO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY FOR AN ADDITIONAL $2,000 OR A TOTAL OF $4600. AFTER I COMPLAINED THAT THEY HAD RECALLED 972,000 OTHER PRIUS BUT DIDN'T INCLUDE THE PRIUS V THEY SAID I ONLY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AND POWER BOOSTER AND SAID THEY WOULD DO IT FOR $1,516.89. SO THEN I GO TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TODAY 12/4/19 AND WHILE SITTING THERE THE IDIOT LIGHTS ALL TURN OFF AND THE BRAKE START TO FUNCTION NORMALLY OWN ITS OWN... I ASK THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WHAT HIS THOUGHTS WERE AND HE SAID I SHOULD STILL MAKE THE REPAIRS, BUT HE COULDN'T SAY WHAT THEY WOULD DO IT CAME BACK. SO I'M GOING TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR A WEEK TO SEE. WHILE I'M WAITING CAN YOU PLEASE DO A RECALL ON THE BRAKE PUMP ASSEMEBLY SINCE THESE FOLKS DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH THIS CAR. IT APPEARS ITS NOT EITHER DEVICE AND ITS A COMPUTER GLITCH THAT THEY HAVEN'T RESOLVED...HELP US PRIUS OWNERS PLEASE!!!
THE BRAKE LOSES ITS GRIP OVER A ROUGH ROAD BUMP WHILE PULLING IN FOR A STOP. VERY VERY NOT SAFE, I ALMOST REAR ENDED A CAR IN FRONT OF ME A COUPLE OF TIMES. CREATES EXTREMELY UNSAFE FEELING. BRAKE LOSS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME OVER BUMPY ROAD ONLY.
THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING. ALL THE ABS, BRAKE LIGHTS AND A CONTINUOUS BEEP SOUND TURNED ON. I ALMOST HAD A CRASH. IT WAS THE BRAKE ACTUATOR PUMP AND I READ ABOUT MULTIPLE OWNERS HAD COMPLAINS WITH IT.
I REPLACED MY BRAKE BOOSTER THREE TIMES IN TWO MONTHS.STILL I HAVE BIG ISSUES WITH TOYATA COMPANY.
AFTER REPAIR OF STALLING ENGINE CONDITION: VSV VALVE REPLACED, A SOFTWARE UPDATE SUBSEQUENTLY WAS PERFORMED ON MY CAR (JOV RECALL). EVER SINCE THAT SOFTWARE UPDATE IT HASN'T BEEN SAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR : UNSAFE BREAKING, REALLY HARD BREAKING, ESPECIALLY ON HIGHWAYS AND UNTIMELY DASHBOARD LIGHTING RELATED TO TRAC/VSC, CHECK ENGINE AND HYBRID WARNING LIGHT
MY 2012 PRIUS V IS ONLY 90K MILES. STARTING FROM ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, THE WARNING LIGHTS INCLUDING BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, ABS WARNING LIGHT AND SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT WERE SUDDENLY LIT ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THEN I FOUND THE REGENERATE BRAKE BECOME VERY HARD AND DIFFICULT TO STOP WHICH WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THESE WARNING LIGHTS WERE KEPT ON ALL THE TIME WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR. THE CAR THREW OUT CODE C1391 WHEN GIVEN A DIAGNOSIS. AFTER SOME ONLINE WORK, I FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR PRIUS V. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT MY CAR, BASED ON ITS VIN, IS NOT IN ONE OF THE CERTAIN CARS COVERED BY ZJB PHASE 2 WHICH COVERS BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLIES FOR CERTAIN 2011-2015 MODEL YEAR PRIUS VEHICLES. THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKE COULD BE A DEADLY DEFICIENCY TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE CAR WHEN DRIVING. NOW I HAVE TO THINK TO STOP USING THIS CAR BECAUSE OF THE SEVERE SECURITY RISK. TOYOTA SHOULD TAKE ACTION TO SOLVE ALL THIS PROBLEM FOR ALL INVOLVED CARS, NOT CERTAIN CARS. MY CAR IS MADE IN 2012, THE DIAGNOSIS CODE C1391 GIVEN BY MY CAR ARE FALLING INTO ONE OF THE FOUR CODES ASSOCIATED WITH THE BRAKE PROBLEM COVERED BY ZJB PHASE 2. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT MY CAR WAS NOT ISSUED THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY.
PROBLEM WITH HEAD GASKET, LOW MILES, COLD ENGINE STARTING, STATIONER, AND SOME TIMES IN MOTION
MY 2012 PRIUS V WITH ONLY 55,000 MILES. ABS LIGHTS CAME ON AND BUZZING SOUND EVERY 3 SECONDS FROM JUST IN FRONT OF STEERING COLUMN. TOYOTA DEALER CHARGED $270 FOR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC THEN GAVE ME A PARTS AND LABOR ESTIMATE FOR REPLACING BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER OF $4400!!! INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CAN ORDER PARTS FROM ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALER IN MAINLAND US FOR $1400 LESS THAN THE $3200 THAT DEALER IN HAWAII QUOTED AND LABOR FOR MUCH LESS. BUT STILL WILL BE COSTING ME ABOUT $2500. SEARCHED RECALL SITES AND REGULAR 2012 PRIUS MODELS HAD RECALLS FOR EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO RECALL ON 2012 PRIUS V BRAKES?
HEAD GASKET 77,000 MILES WITH THE HEAD GASKET ISSUE THE CAR ENGINE WAS SHAKING WHEN IT'S WARMING UP. THE CAR LOG SHOWED MISFIRES IN 1ST AND 4TH CYLINDERS.
MORE THAN ONCE I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40/45MPH, ONCE ON A CURVE, ANYHOW AS I WAS GOING THROUGH THE CURVE IT FELT AS THOUGH THE BRAKES ENGAGED, WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THEM. I UNDERSTAND THE SAFETY THING, HOWEVER AT BOTH INSTANCES IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. IT CAUSED THE CAR TO PULL TO THE LEFT. ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL.
ON JUNE 5TH, 2019, I TOOK MY CAR IN TO ROUND ROCK TOYOTA AND THEY PERFORMED THE 2018 TOYOTA PRIUS V RECALL FIX. SINCE THEN, MY MPG HAS GONE FROM AN AVERAGE OF 41 MILES PER GALLON, WHICH HAS STAYED CONSISTENT SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW IN JUNE 2012, DOWN TO 32 MPG. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO ROUND ROCK TOYOTA FOR A DIAGNOSIS ON SEPT 30, 2019 AND THEY SAID THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES, AND THAT MY NOW GREATLY REDUCED 32 MPG FELL WITHIN TOYOTA STANDARDS. I AM WRITING TO FILE A COMPLAINT THAT THEIR 2018 RECALL FOR THE TOYOTA PRIUS V HAS A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE REVISITED OR THE VEHICLES SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD. I AM CO-FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE EPA AS WELL.
I STARTED MY CAR AND MY DASH LIGHTS FOR BRAKES, ANTI-LOCK, ANTI-SKID CAME ON AND BRAKES BECAME SPONGY. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. I PARKED THE CAR AND LATER CHECKED THE LIGHTS AND THE CAR WAS OPERATING NORMAL. I DROVE THE CAR AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD TO TRY TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE CAR THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN AND BRAKES WERE NOT OPERATING NORMALLY. SPONGY AND NO ANTI-LOCK. I CHECKED RECALLS AND FOUND THE ISSUE WAS RECALLED IN 2010. I ALSO FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON PRIUS FORUMS FOR THIS ISSUE COVERING 2012 PRIUS. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL FOR 2012 AS WELL.
ON 09/19/2019 KEY WEST TOYOTA COMPLETED THE TIRES CHANGE OF MY VEHICLE AS I REQUESTED. IN ADDITION, KEY WEST TOYOTA PERFORMED "107649 J0V RECALL J0V01B 0.70 UPDATE TO THE POWER MANAGEMENT ECU WITH NEW SOFTWARE" AS SHOWING ON THE INVOICE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, ON FRIDAY 09/20/2019, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC, PUTTING MY LIFE AND SAFETY AT RISK AND MY HEATH AND GENERAL WELL-BEING. I SENT BACK THE VEHICLE TO KEY WEST TOYOTA, AND SINCE THEN THE ISSUE IS UNRESOLVED, AND I AM NOT EVEN ABLE TO REACH ANYONE ON THE PHONE OR THROUGH THE EMAIL I SENT FROM KEY WEST TOYOTA WEBSITE "CONTACT US".
TAKATA RECALL FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE, VEHICLE PERFORMED UNPREDICTABLY. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND THAT THE HYBRID BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I DRIVE 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND ALL INDICATOR ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR WILL STALL. TOYOTA DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT. MY CAR GOES COMPLETELY DEAD. EVERY WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON AND ITS BLINKING.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULBS MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST TWO YEARS. READING REPORTS, IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS THE 2010 AND 2011 PRIUS OWNERS HAD. I AM NOW HAVING TO HAVE MY HEADLIGHT COVERS RESURFACED BECAUSE MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT IS NOT AT ALL VISIBLE AT NIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP IS RECOMMENDING REPLACING THE COMPARTMENT WHERE THE BULB GOES.
BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2012 AND HAVE ALWAYS PERFORMED MAINTENANCE ON TIME. BETWEEN THE LAST OIL CHANGE AND THIS OIL CHANGE THE PRIUS IS BURNING OIL AND I AM HAVING TO ADD AT LEAST TWO QUARTS OF OIL BEFORE IT IS BACK ON THE DIPSTICK. I AM NOTICING THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2010-2014 PRIUS AND THAT TOYOTA HAS DONE NOTHING TO SOLVE IT. I DO NOT WANT TO BE ON A LONG TRIP AND BURN THROUGH OIL AND LOCK MY ENGINE UP CAUSING HARM TO MYSELF OR OTHERS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL AND A WARNING INDICATOR SIGNALED THE CONTACT TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING SPACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MARIETTA TOYOTA (750 COBB PKWY S, MARIETTA, GA 30060, (470) 938-8436) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYBRID INVERTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN *BF .
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULB ON MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT CONSTANTLY OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. I HEARD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE 2012 REGULAR PRIUS AND I'M WONDERING IF THE ISSUE HAS BEEN LOOKED AT IN THE PRIUS C MODELS.
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE ON THE FREEWAY!!! ABS, BRAKE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS LIT UP. ALMOST CRASHED! CODE C1391-ABNORMAL LEAK IN BRAKE ACTUATOR PUMP. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE THIS AGENCY TO MAKE TOYOTA FIX THIS?? ITS A SAFETY ISSUE!!! STOP PICKING YOUR ASSES AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAIL FREQUENTLY (EVERY 3-6 MONTHS) MAKING DRIVING IN THE EARLY MORNINGS AND NIGHTTIME VERY DANGEROUS, AS THEY FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY. THE MOST DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR US WITH THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE IS WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THE MOUNTAINS AND BOTH LOW BEAMS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. THANKFULLY THE HIGH BEAMS WERE FUNCTIONING. THE FACT THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2010 AND 2011 MODELS BUT THE 2012 MODEL PRIUS IS EXCLUDED US VERY CONCERNING CONSIDERING THE ISSUE IS THE SAME ACROSS YEARS.
AFTER THE LATEST HYBRID SOFTWARE UPGRADE ON MY CAR WE NOTICED THAT THE GAS MILEAGE DROPPED BY 10%. THEN AS WE WERE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A TWO LANES FOUR DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON TWO WHICH WERE FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND TWO OTHERS FOR THE HYBRID SYSTEM. TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA SHOP AND THEY FOUND THE HYBRID BATTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 63,000 MILES.
HEADLIGHTS BURN OUT IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS DUE TO DEGRADATION OF THE WIRING HARNESS. AS THE VEHICLE AGES, HEADLIGHT LIFE DECREASES DRAMATICALLY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IN THE MOST RECENT BULB FAILURE, BOTH BULBS FAILED ON THE SAME DAY - AND ONLY BECAME APPARENT THAT NIGHT..
MY CAR HAS THE SAME BRAKE BOOSTER/MASTER CYLINDER DEFECT THAT THE 2010/11 MODEL PRIUS WERE RECALLED FOR. BRAKE BOOSTER OR BRAKE PRESSURE ACCUMULATOR FAILURE ON 2012 MODELS CAUSES LOSS OF BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE DEATH. TOYOTA IS WELL AWARE OF THIS. THIS HAPPENS IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
THE LINING ON THE DEFLECTOR RUBBER GASKET/SEAL OF THE SUNROOF HAS BEEN DETERIORATING. I HAVE HEARD FROM MANY OTHER PRIUS III OWNERS THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT FOR THE 2010-2013 YEAR MODELS. I BELIEVE IT IF IS THIS COMMON, TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT.
CAR WAS IN MOTION AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT HALF WAY TO FLOOR AND ABS, BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL AND TIRE SENSOR LIGHTS CAME ON. MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKE BOOSTER SEEM TO HAVE FAILED. DEALER DIDN'T RECOGNIZE CODES AND COULD ONLY RECOMMEND CHANGING SPARK PLUGS WHEN I JUST HAD THEM REPLACE 6-8 MONTHS PRIOR. EXPLAINED THAT DID THINK THAT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH BRAKES GIVING OUT. THEY RESET CODES AND SURE ENOUGH HAPPENED AGAIN WITHIN THE NEXT 30 DAYS. TOYOTA ADMITTED TO SINCE RECEIVING MANY REPORTS OF CERTAIN INTERNAL MALFUNCTIONS OF BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLIES. 4 TRIPS LATER TO DEALER THE RESPONSE IS THE CODES ARE NOT COMING UP (DTCS) C1391, C1252, C1256 OR C1253 IN ORDER TO BE COVERED IT'S VOLUNTARY CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM WHICH HAS BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP COVERAGE. VERY FRUSTRATING!

NHTSA RECALL #18V-684 I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET WHEN CHEQ HIBRID SISTEM SIGN CAME ON, AFTER I GOT THIS MASAGE, I DID DROVE FOR A WHILE TIL STOP ON A SAFE PLACE, WHEN TURNING IT BACK ON WITH THE BREAK PEDAL PUSHED, THE SISTEM DID NOT GET A READY LIGHT, WHICH MEANS ABLE TO MOVE, SO I CALLED AAA (A TOWING SERVICE). WE WENT TO A WEST COVINA TOYOTA DEALER. THE SERVICE MAN MANNY TOLD ME IT MAYBE IS ABOUT THE RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. WHEN VEHICLE WAS READY MANNY TOLD ME ON THE PHONE THAT IT WAS A LOOSE WIRE AND WHEN I GOT AT THE DEALER HE SHOW ME A SWITCH (NOT A WIRE) THAT IT IS IMPOSIBLE TO UNLOCK IT BY IT SELF, IT HAS TO BE MOVE BY A FINGER IN ORDER TO UNLOCK IT OR LOCK IT BACK ON, SO MY POINT IS THAT I FEEL THAT THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT JUST TO CHARGE ME AND I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE MAKING THIS UP. I DID TALK TO THE MANAGER GARY KUFTEDJIAN, HE GOT MAD AT ME BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO SIT DOWN AND TOLD ME THAT I WAS NO RESPECTING HIM JUST BECUASE I DID NOT HAVE A SIT, I TOLD HIM THAT THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE WAS THE NEED OF THE UPDATE ( THE RECALL ) NOT THE SWITCH THE THEY SAID SO I TOLD HIM THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AND HE TOLD ME THAT IF I DO NOT PAY THAT I HAVE TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE AN OTHER DAY FOR THEM TO CHEQ IT AGAING AND I SAID WHY IF THE VEHICLE IS READY? TRACTION, BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT ONCE, PRATICALLY LOST ALL BRAKING WHILE DRIVING BUT ABLE TO SLOWLY STOP. SQUISHY BRAKES. "PUMP" SOUNDING NOISE LIKE IT'S HAVING TROUBLE PUMPING BRAKE FLUID.
OUR 2012 PRIUS V HAS CONTINUOUSLY BEEN BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. IT WAS PUT THROUGH AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED NOT TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS (JUST THAT THE CAR WAS GETTING OLDER AND WE SHOULD PROBABLY BUY A NEW ONE), EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ISSUED A TSB TO DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT, WE ARE BARELY ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY DISTANCE WITHOUT HAVING TO PUT MORE OIL IN. WE HAVE ALWAYS KEPT UP ON THE MAINTENANCE FOR THE VEHICLE, WE RECENTLY REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET AND THE COOLANT IN THE CAR, BUT NOW THE CAR JUST RUNS HOT WITH THE FAN RUNNING ALL THE TIME AND THE OIL IS CONSISTENTLY BURNING. WE'VE NEVER HAD TO PUT OIL INTO THE CAR OURSELVES BETWEEN MAINTENANCE SESSIONS AND NOW THEY HAVE US COMING IN TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 5K MILES INSTEAD OF EVERY 10K MILES AS BEFORE. EVEN THEN, WE ARE STILL HAVING TO ADD OIL IN BETWEEN VISITS. I BOUGHT THE CAR AS A COMMUTER VEHICLE, IT HAS ABOUT 200,000 MILES ON IT, DRIVING IT 5 DAYS PER WEEK, ABOUT 100 MILES PER DAY. DEPENDING ON THE QUOTE TO FIX IT (FROM A NON DEALER BECAUSE THEY WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THERE'S A PROBLEM), I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO TRADE THE CAR IN AT A MINIMAL VALUE IN ORDER TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR, WHICH I REALLY CANNOT AFFORD TO DO RIGHT NOW. THIS PROBLEM IS ONLY OCCURRING WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. THERE IS NO LEAK, AS IT WOULD BE EVIDENT ON MY DRIVEWAY. I MOSTLY DRIVE THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY.
BRAKE LIGHT/TSC LIGHT ON DASH WAS ON. THERE APPEARED TO BE NO DIFFERENCE IN DRIVE-ABILITY, BUT THERE WAS A HUMMING NOISE PRESENT AT IDLE AND 20-30 MPH. TOOK CAR TO DEALER 4/30/2019 FOR CHECK. COGGINS TOYOTA IN JACKSONVILLE, FL DETERMINED THE CAUSE WAS A, ABNORMAL LEAK IN THE ACCUMULATOR. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER/MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. AFTER THE NEW EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THE NEW PUMP ASSEMBLY HAD EXCESSIVE NOISE AND VIBRATION INTERNALLY SO ANOTHER REPLACEMENT PART WAS ORDERED. NEW PUMP ASSEMBLY BRAKE BOOSTER WAS INSTALLED AND CAR WAS PUT BACK IN SERVICE 5/19/2019. TOTAL COST OF THIS SERVICE WAS $2,745.11. WE LATER LEARNED THAT A CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM CSP ZJB WAS ISSUED BY TOYOTA FOR 'CERTAIN" 2010 PHD PRIUS, "CERTAIN" 2011-2015 PRIUS, AND "CERTAIN" 2012-2015 PHV PRIUS. AS PER THE CSP ZJB MAILING TO OUR RELATIVE WHO ALSO OWNS A PRIUS, THE PROBLEM WAS "WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLIES". ACCORDING TO DIANNE, CUSTOMER SERVICE REP WITH TOYOTA, THESE VEHICLES INCLUDED IN THE CSP ZJB WERE PRODUCED BETWEEN OCTOBER 2010 TO NOVEMBER 2015 AND INCLUDED SOME 946,100 VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PROGRAM AS THE VIN NUMBER DID NOT MATCH THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. HOWEVER, WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OUR VEHICLE THAT THE PROGRAM WAS INITIATED TO INCLUDE. UPON SUBMITTING A REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FROM TOYOTA FOR THE COST ASSOCIATED WITH REPAIRS, IT WAS REJECTED. WE BELIEVE THE PROBLEM FOR WHICH THE SERVICE PROGRAM WAS INITIATED IS THE SAME PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED AND OUR VEHICLE VIN SHOULD BE ADDED BY TOYOTA TO THE LIST OF AFFECTED VEHICLES SO THAT IT BECOMES ELIGIBLE FOR EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT.
WHEN I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN I HEARD A LOUD "BOOM" SOUND AND HAD TO GRAB MY STEERING WHEEL HARD SO I WOULDNT DRIFT ONTO THE OTHER LANE BECAUSE MY CAR WAS SHAKING AND SKIDDING THEN RIGHT AFTER MY CAR EMERGENCY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND TOLD ME SYSTEM FAILURE PARK YOUR CAR IMMIDENTLY KEEP IN MIND WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING MY CAR ONLY WENT UP TO TWENTY MILES PER HOUR WITH MY CAR MAKING A LOUD SOUND AS IF I WAS GOING 80 MPH IT SOUNDED LIKE I WAS SPEEDING WHEN I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT TWENTY MILES PER HOUR.
CAR EXPERIENCED GREATLY DIMINISHED BRAKING POWER ON INTERSTATE 75 PRIOR TO APPROACHING HEAVY TRAFFIC BACKED UP TO EXIT. MANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH: BRAKE, ABS, ETC. TOYOTA HAS ALREADY ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE STANDARD MODEL PRIUS, AND I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD ON THE PRIUS V WAGON AS WELL.
I HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON MY PRIUS AND THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP I WENT TO SAID I NEED TO REPLACE BOTH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER PUMP WHICH WOULD BE 3000 DOLLARS WORTH OF PARTS AND LABOR. AFTER RESEARCH THIS ISSUE I HAVE FOUND SERVAL PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. ALSO THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER, SHOWING YOU HOW BIG OF ISSUE THIS IS. THE BREAKING SYSTEM FELT SPONGY, MY TRACTION CONTROL BRAKING SYSTEM AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON. THANKFULLY I HAD JUST A COUPLE OF FEET TO MY DRIVEWAY.
ENGINE MISFIRING AT START. WHILE AT INTERSECTION IN CITY AND TURNING LEFT, ACCELERATING AND TRIGGERING THE COMBUSTION ENGINE, MISFIRING CAUSING JERKING AND LACK OF ACCELERATION ALMOST CAUSING A STALLED CAR IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. SERVICE SAYS MISFIRING CAUSED BY FAULTY HEAD GASKET. APPEARS TO BE SYMPTOMATIC OF GEN 3 PRIUS.
THE BRAKE BOOSTER/ACCTUATOR HAS FAILED ON MY PRIUS AT ABOUT 76000 MILES AND I BOUGHT IT USED WITH 35000 MILES. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH PRIUS VEHICLES SINCE 2006 AND ENHANCED WARRANTIES HAVE BEEN ISSUED ON MODELS FROM 2006 AS WELL AS 2010-2015. I HAVE TRIED TO CALL TOYOTA TO HAVE THEM FIX THE ISSUE BUT THEY SAY THAT MY VEHICLE ISNT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY FOR SOME REASON. WHAT THEY SAID WAS THAT MY PARTS MAKER WASNT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT IF ITS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN PREVELANT IN OTHER PRIUS VEHICLES, I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WOULDNT BE COVERED REGARDLESS OF WHO MADE THE PART. IT HAS AFFECTED MY BRAKING RANDOMLY AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT A COUPLE TIMES ALREADY. WHEN DIAGNOSED I GOT ERROR CODE C1391 WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT LETTER I FOUND YET TOYOTA WILL NOT FIX MY VEHICLE.
