WHEN I DRIVE OVER ANY TYPE OF BUMP, (POTHOLE, SPEED BUMP, ETC) AND MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE....THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY SPEED-UP INSTEAD OF SLOW DOWN. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME.
SOON AFTER GETTING A RECALL SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE HYBRID SYSTEM, THE CAR DISPLAYED HYBRID SYSTEM CHECK MESSAGE AND LOST POWER. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. CREATED AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO NATURE OF PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND HAD TO PULL OVER RIGHT AWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DELLA TOYOTA (32 DELLA DR, PLATTSBURGH, NY 12901), BUT A DIAGNOSIS WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V684000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
TAKATA RECALL I AM WRITING BECAUSE MY VEHICLE'S HALOGEN LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULB LIFETIME IS SHORTER THAN EXPECTED AND TOYOTA SEEMS UNWILLING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITH ME. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT THE SHORT BULB LIFESPAN IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2010- 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS VEHICLES. I AM NOW CHANGING THE BULBS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS.TOYOTA OFFICIALLY STATES IN THEIR 'CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM ZHB CERTAIN 2010- 2012 MODEL YEAR PRIUS COVERAGE FOR HALOGEN LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULBS' THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COVERED UNDER THEIR WARRANTY: IF THE OWNER EXPERIENCES THE CONDITION DESCRIBED ABOVE, HE/SHE SHOULD CONTACT A LOCAL AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. IF THE CONDITION IS VERIFIED, THE DEALER WILL INSTALL VOLTAGE ADJUSTMENT WIRE HARNESSES AND REPLACE THE HALOGEN LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULBS WITH NEW ONES AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER.' WHEN I TOOK MY CAR INTO A TOYOTA AUTO NATION IN HAYWARD FOR SERVICE ON SATURDAY 3/9/19. I WAS TOLD THIS WARRANTY EXPIRED ON FEBRUARY 2019, AND IF I WANTED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $500- $600. I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD A DOCUMENT FROM TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS THAT HAS A DIFFERENT DATE OF OCTOBER 31, 2019. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID, HE WOULD CHECK THE DATE AND EMAIL ME BACK. HE EMAILED ME BACK ON WITH THIS REPLY: 'UNFORTUNATELY AS PER TOYOTA YOUR VIN DOESN'T NOT SUPPORT THAT TSB AND BECAUSE YOUR VIN DOES NOT APPLY TO THE TSB OUR PARTS DEPARTMENT CANNOT ORDER PARTS TO SUPPORT THE REMEDY FOR YOUR VIN AS THEY ARE UNAVAILABLE.' I FEEL THAT TOYOTA DOES NOT WANT TO REPAIR THIS KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD, UNLESS I PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR. THE LINK ALSO INDICATES THAT THERE ARE 'APPROXIMATELY 390,000 VEHICLES COVERED BY THIS CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM' AND THAT 'THIS COVERAGE WILL BE OFFERED UNTIL OCTOBER 31, 2019, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE.' .
VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR SAFETY RECALL J0V. AFTER SERVICE, IN CAR ELECTRONICS SYSTEMS DID NOT WORK PROPERLY: NAVIGATION, BLUETOOTH/PHONE INTEGRATION, AUDIO SYSTEM. DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT RECALL SERVICE WAS RESPONSIBLE.
THE CAR HAS BEEN SUFFERING ALL OF THE BRAKE SYMPTOMS FOR THE RECALL OF THE 2010 PRIUS BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. I'VE REPEATEDLY COMPLAINED ABOUT LOSING BRAKING POWER WHEN THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I GO OVER UNEVEN SURFACES SUCH AS RAILROAD TRACKS OR A POTHOLE. THE BRAKES HAVE BENN FARTING FROM DAY ONE WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT OR PARKED IF THE BRAKES ARE DEPRESSED AND THEN SLIGHTLY RELEASED. AND NOW TODAY THE ABS BRAKES ARE ON WITH THE BATTERY LIGHT AND THERE IS LIMITED BRAKING POWER. I HAVE TO PUSH ALMOST ALL THE WAY DOWN BEFORE THE BRAKE ENGAGES. TOYOTA TELLS ME I NEED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM FOR $3500 AND THERE ARE ONLY 70,000 MILES ON MY 2012 CAR. I FEEL MY BRAKES HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AS THE 2010 RECALL AND MORE YEARS INCLUDING MINE ARE AFFECTED AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.

WHEN I JUST START ON THE ENGINE THN START MOVING AND STOPING, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS REALLY UP AND NOT MOVING DOWN AND BRAKES CAR REALLY QUICK. AT THE SAME TIME WHEN I START DRIVING I HEAR THAT REAR WRITING BRAKES FOR ABOUT 1-2 MILES. THEN IT COME OFF AND BRAKE PEDAL GOES DOWN LITTLE BIT TO NORMAL POSITION AND WORKS GREAT. THIS IS HAPPEN EVERY TIME WHEN SHOT DOWN ENGINE AND START AGAIN TO GO SOMEWHERE. ITS REALLY DANGEROUS BACOUS THE POSITION OF BRAKE PEDAL SOMETIME UP SOMETIMES DOWN, CAN NOT PREDICT HOW SOON YOU CAN STOP WHEN ITS NEEDED. IT ALWAYS HAPPEN NOW WHEN I DRIVE IN MY CITY ROADS. I CAME BACK TO DEALER THAT DID UPDATE SYSTEM ON MY CAR, THEY SAID THAT I NEED TO PAY TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR, THEY WILL CHARGE ME EVEN IF THIS HAPPEN AFTER THEIRE RECALL UPDATE SYSTEM ON MY CAR. THIS IS HORRABLE.

THE FAILURE CODE WAS CLEARED BY AUTONATION TOYOTA SOUTH AUSTIN (4800 S IH 35 FRONTAGE RD, AUSTIN, TX 78745, (512) 518-6900) BEFORE THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V684000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AND THE HYBRID WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE SAME DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. A SECOND DEALER, CHARLES MAUND TOYOTA (8400 RESEARCH BLVD, AUSTIN, TX 78758, (512) 270-5055), DIAGNOSED THAT THE INVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND GOING OVER A ROUGH ROAD SURFACE, OR POTHOLE, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT APPEARS, AND THE BRAKES SUDDENLY STOP FUNCTIONING UNTIL BACK ON A SMOOTH ROAD SURFACE. THIS HAPPENS ALL OF THE TIME UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. IT IS REALLY SCARY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES ALL BRAKING WHILE TRYING TO STOP. I HAVE A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS AND A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS NOT A FULL RECALL ON THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION.
I WENT TO THE CHARLES MAUND TOYOTA DEALER AT AUSTIN, TX FOR A RECALL. NHTSA RECALL ID 18V684. ACCORDING TO THE OFFICIAL RECALL REMEDY FROM NHTSA, "IF THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED AN INVERTER FAILURE WITH CERTAIN HYBRID SYSTEM FAULTS RELATED TO THIS CONDITION, THE INVERTER ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE." MY CAR LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAYS SEVERAL TIMES RECENTLY. THE ERROR CODE IS P0A08, WHICH IS RELATED TO INVERTER FAILURE WITH CERTAIN HYBRID SYSTEM FAULTS, SO THE INVERTER ASSEMBLY SHOULD BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. BUT THE DEALER DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE OR REPAIR THE INVERTER FOR MY CAR. THERE IS STILL A POTENTIAL THREAT ON MY CAR TO LOSE POWER ON HIGHWAYS.
I WAS COMING UP THE FREEWAY OFF RAMP AND MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF I HAD NO BRAKING I HIT SIX OTHER CARS ROLLED OVER AND WAS SEVERLY IMJURED IN THE HOSPITAL FORR THREE DAYS
FRONT HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. REPLACED BOTH BULBS. THEN THEY WENT OUT AGAIN WITH NO WARNING IN ABOUT A MONTH. HAD TO USE BRIGHTS TO DRIVE HOME IN THE DARK. DANGEROUS! REPLACED THEM AGAIN AND NOW ONE OF THE HEAD LIGHTS IS OUT AGAIN AFTER ONLY 2 WEEKS EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DIFFERENT BRAND. HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN IT IS PARKED.
I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX IN ILLINOIS, AND I DO NOT HAVE A GARAGE. I THINK THAT SOME, IF NOT ALL, OF MY TIRES WERE STOLEN OVERNIGHT WHILE I WAS SLEEPING. I DO NOT HAVE A CAR ALARM. I BOUGHT 4 NEW AND VERY INEXPENSIVE TIRES TODAY. THE TIRE THEFT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IN MY PARKING LOT, OR AT AN AUTO-BODY SHOP LIKE NTB WHILE I WAS GETTING AN OIL CHANGE. I THINK IT WAS THE NTB IN DEKALB, ILLINOIS. I AM NOT 100% SURE IF THIS IS WHERE IT HAPPENED.I AM NOT SURE WHEN IT HAPPENED. MY TIRES WERE SO BALD, THAT I ALMOST LANDED IN THE DITCH. CAN YOU PLEASE START A DOT TIRE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER REGISTRATION FORM ONLINE VIA YOUR WEBSITE? IT WOULD BE EASIER TO TRACK TIRES BOUGHT BY HONEST AND HARD-WORKING MIDDLE-CLASS AMERICANS. ALSO, ARE ALL 4 DOT ID NUMBERS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SAME IF YOU BUY 4 NEW TIRES ALL AT ONCE? THE DOT ID NUMBER IS LOCATED ON EVERY TIRE APPROVED BY THE NHTSA. I WOULD UPLOAD PICTURES OF ALL 4 OF MY NEW TIRES IF THAT WAS THE OPTION. PLEASE HELP HONEST PEOPLE SAVE MONEY AND TIME! MC FROM ILLINOIS.
PROBLEM WITH BRAKING SYSTEM INVOLVING, THE OTHER DAY THE CAR WAS ON AND SUDDENLY THREE (3) WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON: BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. THERE IS ALSO NOW A PUMPING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE INTERIOR OF THE DASH (ON IT AT LEAST SOUNDS THAT IS WHERE IT'S COMING FROM. THE CAR HAS 151,428 MILES ON IT. I'VE INCLUDED PICTURES OF THE CURRENT EROR CODE, MILEAGE AND DASH LIGHTS THAT ARE ON.

THE CONTACT'S HEAD STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT A CUSHION. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY WAS PROCESSING THE CLAIM AND TOOK CUSTODY OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 178,000.
I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND PRESSED THE STOP BUTTON TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND LEFT THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN. I WALKED TO THE MAILBOX TO GET THE MAIL AND HEARD A CRASH AS THE CAR DROVE OFF AND HIT A TREE AND LANDSCAPE WALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
MY 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS; THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY BLOWS THE FRONT HEAD LIGHTS. MY VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 6 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE HAD 10 FRONT LIGHTS REPLACED. THE LIGHTS JUST GO OUT WHILE IN MOTION. THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS BOTH FAIL WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT. THE ROAD WENT TO TOTAL DARKNESS. I FEEL LUCKY THE HIGH BEAMS WERE STILL WORKING. I HAVE TAKEN THE PRIUS C TO THE SHOP AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ON DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS HAVE MELTED. THE WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ONLY ACCELERATED TO 9 MPH WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
IN THE PAST YEAR WE HAVE REPLACED MULTIPLE LOW BEAM HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS. ONE WEEK AGO, BOTH BURNED OUT CAUSING A NIGHTTIME SAFETY ISSUE. I RESEARCHED THE LIGHTING ISSUE AND LEARNED THERE IS TSB T-SB-0204-12 FOR HEADLAMP DURABILITY ENHANCEMENT AND A CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM "ZHB" FOR THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM. IN THE ZHB PROGRAM, TOYOTA WILL MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS FREE FOR ONLY 2010-2011 PRIUS'. SINCE THE ZHB PROGRAM ONLY SUPPORTS 2010-2011 PRIUS' I CALLED TOYOTA TO REQUEST THIS REPAIR UNDER THAT PROGRAM. AFTER SPEAKING TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER (DARCARS IN FREDERICK MD.) AND THE TOYOTA HQ'S SATISFACTION REP, OUR 2012 IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE ZHB PROGRAM EVEN THOUGH ITS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I BRAKE THE CAR SHAKES A NOTICEABLE TYPE OF SHAKE AND STARTS TO MAKE A WEIRD STALLING NOISE.
THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING OVER 60 MPH WHEN THE ABS, BRAKE AND TRACTION LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE BRAKE BECAME IMMEDIATELY SPONGY AND I HAD TO DEPRESSED EVEN HARDER (PAST THE FOAMINESS) TO REDUCE SPEED. A MOTOR COULD BE HEARD TRYING TO TURN OVER ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE CAR SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 25-30 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY BUT THE SPONGY BRAKES CONTINUED. WITHIN 5 MIN I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND INTO A PARKING LOT. PARKED THE CAR, TURNED IT OFF AND ON TO SEE IF THAT WOULD REMEDY THE SITUATION AND NOTHING CHANGED. I THEN CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO BOOK AN IMMEDIATE APPOINTMENT AND ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES LATER. THE CAR WAS LOOKED AT AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR WAS THE ISSUE AND THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT TOYOTA TO SEE IF THIS WAS IN WARRANTY OR PART OF THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THE COST OF INSTALLATION AND PARTS WOULD BE AT LEAST $4,000 AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT AS TOYOTA WAS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY. I CALLED THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, EXPLAINED MY SITUATION AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AS I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP. I FEEL THAT THIS BRAKE ACTUATOR (ITS PARTS, ITS COMPOSITION AND/OR ITS INSTALLATION) IS A SYSTEMIC ISSUE WITH TOYOTA PRODUCTS AND A KNOWN ISSUE WITH TOYOTA PRIUS' IN 2009 AND 2010. TANGENTIAL TO THIS ISSUE, MY FATHER OWNS A TOYOTA CAR AS WELL AND HAS ALSO HAD TO HAVE HIS ACTUATOR REPLACED THIS YEAR. TOYOTA SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FAULTY PARTS AND INSTALLATION AND PURCHASE OF NEW PARTS. MY MAINTENANCE RECORD IS EXEMPLARY AND MY DRIVING RECORD IS AS WELL SO THIS IS NOT REGULAR WEAR AND TEAR IN MY OPINION.
ROUGH START AT COLD START WHEN CAR IS LEFT FOR MORE THAN 12 HOURS. INTERMITTENT PROBLEM CANNOT BE DETERMINED AT DEALER DUE TO INFREQUENCY OF ISSUE, BUT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES A MONTH. TOYOTA WAS UNABLE TO HELP ME AND SAYS THIS IS UNRELATED TO THE EXACT SAME ISSUE PLAGUING 2010-2013 PRIUS AND PRIUS V MODELS, EVEN THOUGH SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME.
STEERING COLUMN BROKE. DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. HEARD AND FELT A LOUD CLUNK. THUMPING FEELING WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED. ONLY 130,000 MILES. SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN ON ANY CAR.
HORN STOPPED WORKING IN NOVEMBER 2018. DEALER TELLS ME THAT THERE IS AN OPENING IN THE SPIRAL CABLE WHICH IS CAUSING HORN NOT TO WORK. ENTIRE SPIRAL CABLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD DRIVER'S AIRBAG RECALLED ONCE, MAYBE TWICE. DID SPIRAL CABLE GET DAMAGED IN ONE OF THESE RECALLS? I KNOW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL IN EARLIER TOYOTAS WITH SAME PART, BUT NOT THIS YEAR AND MODEL, WONDERING IF THERE SHOULD BE.
TYPICALLY THE KEY IS LEFT IN THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. TONIGHT AT 6 PM, AT A GARAGE TEMPERATURE OF 83 DEGREES F, THE ENGINE SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED. NO ONE WAS IN THE CAR AND IT HAD BEEN GARAGED FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS. I JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN THE GARAGE WHEN THE PRIUS STARTED AND WAS NOTHING SHORT OF FLABBERGASTED.
PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WILL NOT WORK. I REPLACED THE BULB, AND CHECKED THE FUSES, AND IT STILL WILL NOT LIGHT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS V. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE BRAKES MADE NOISE AND THE ABS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VENICE TOYOTA (941-451-5150, LOCATED AT 900 U.S. 41 BYPASS, VENICE, FL 34285) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
BRAKES FAILING, GETTING A C1391 CODE, LEAK IN ACCUMULATOR. TOYOTA HAS A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR THIS ISSUE ON THE 2010 MODEL BUT IT HAS NOT EXTENDED TO 2011 OR 2012 MODELS. I CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER AND NATIONAL REPRESENTATIVES AND WAS REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE FROM TOYOTA. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED TWICE OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, BOTH TIMES WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND ALMOST NO STOPPING POWER.
I WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS GOING BETWEEN 50 AND 55 MPH WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED TO YELLOW AND THEN TO RED. WHEN I APPLIED THE BREAKS NOTHING HAPPENED. MY VEHICLE ACTUALLY APPEARED TO SPEED UP. I RELEASED THE BRAKE THEN PUMPED THE BREAK TWICE THEN AGAIN APPLIED THE BREAK, THIS TIME STOMPING HARDER AND WITH BOTH FEET. MY VEHICLE DID NOT STOP OR EVEN SLOW. I WENT THROUGH THE LIGHT, RESULTING IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I T BONED ANOTHER CAR.
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IN MY PRIUS WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WENT TOTALLY DEAD. IT DID NOT GO INTO A LIMP-HOME MODE. I WAS DEAD IN THE WATER IN THE MIDDLE OF A STREET ALL OF A SUDDEN. WE HAD TO GET OUT AND PUSH IT OUT OF THE STREET. MECHANIC SAYS ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH PRIUS AND INVERTER. THAT WAS PRETTY DANGEROUS AND I WAS GLAD WE WERENT ON THE FREEWAY. WE WERE UNAWARE OF ANY RECALL. THE CAR WENT INTO "DISCO MODE" - EVERY WARNING LIGHT IT HAD WAS ON AND BLINKING BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHERE TO GO TO GET CHECKED FOR RECALLS I RECEIVED
IN EARLY OCTOBER I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA FOR A "FAILSAFE DRIVING MODE" HYBRID SYSTEM FAULT THAT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO "STALL" INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY OF VEHICLE CRASH DURING CRITICAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT STATED I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE FIX WAS AVAILABLE. 2 1/2 MONTHS LATER, I'VE YET TO HEAR FROM TOYOTA AND MY DEALERSHIP STATES THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED REMEDY PARTS OR PROCEDURES FROM TOYOTA. ALL THEY COULD DO WAS GIVE ME A PHONE NUMBER AT TOYOTA CORPORATE. I CALLED THE NUMBER AND THE PERSON HAD NO FURTHER INFORMATION ON WHEN A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM WOULD BE AVAILABLE. SHE STATED THE ORIGINAL NOTICE STATED A TIME FRAME OF 2-3 MONTHS; IN FACT, IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY TIME PERIOD INDICATION. IT IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR FIX FOR SOMETHING OF THIS POTENTIAL MAGNITUDE TO TAKE SO LONG. I'M CONCERNED THAT TOYOTA, AS THEY HAVE DONE WITH OTHER RECALL ISSUES, IS MERELY DELAYING TO AVOID COSTS OF IMPLEMENTING THE FIX AND ENDANGERING ALL OWNERS FURTHER THAN THEY ALREADY HAVE. THE LADY STATED I COULD CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT PROVIDING A RENTAL VEHICLE DURING THE PERIOD, SOMETHING THE DEALERSHIP HAS DENIED THEY WILL DO. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE TRUSTING TOYOTA WOULD STAND BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND THEY ARE FAILING TO DO SO.
CAR STALLED ON HIGHWAY. WAS JUST MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY, THE CAR STALLED AND DIED. WAS ABLE TO VERY, VERY SLOWLY PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD . THIS WAS A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE INVERTER. COULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT!!! GOT TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE INVERTER AND PARTS WITH AN UPDATED ONE AND SOFTWARE TOO. THERE WAS NO CHARGE TO ME. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THE 2012 INVERTER WAS INFERIOR AND ALL THESE MODELS SHOULD BE UPDATED WITH NEW INVERTERS. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN!
ABS BRAKE IS NOT WORKING. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY TRAFFIC AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DEEP WHEN I STEP ON IT AND IT TOOK ME MORE TIME TO STOP THAN I EXPECTED IT. I WENT AND GOT IT RED THE CODE C1391 ABNORMAL LEAK IN ACCUMULATOR.
MY 2012 PRIUS HAD BOTH HEADLIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE. LUCKILY NO DAMAGE WAS DONE. MY DEALER RAN MY VIN TO SEE IF TOYOTA HAD A WARRANTY EXTENSION AS IT IS A WELL DOCUMENTED VOLTAGE PROBLEM FOR THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT THE 2010 AND 2011 PRIUS DO HAVE SUCH COVERAGE BUT THE 2012 DOES NOT. SEEMS VERY SHORTSIGHTED ON TOYOTA'S PART. IT CLEARLY FORESEEABLE THAT SOMEONE COULD BE HARMED OR KILLED AND THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
VARIOUS ALERTS LIGHTED, BRAKES, ABS, ANTI SKID. LOST SOME BRAKING... TOO SOFT AND FUNNY LIKE... NEEDED PUMPING. COST OF REPAIR TO REPLACE BRAKE PUMP SYSTEM INCLUDING THA ACTUATOR(BUSTER). BRAKE PADS FOR $3,700 +. AT TOYOTA CALESA IN PUERTO RICO.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEM SEVERAL TIMES OVER THIS LAST YEAR.

A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO MY WIFE PURCHASED A USED 2012 TOYOTA PRIUS C AND LIKE ALL CARS I'M HEARING AFTER 2011 IT'S GOT YOUR CRAPPY HEADREST DESIGN TO SUPPOSEDLY AID IN SAFETY OF WHIPLASH, BUT MY WIFE HAS MINOR SCOLIOSIS AND WE HAVE TO TURN THE HEADREST AROUND BACKWARDS SO IT DOESN'T HURT HER. THAT'S WHAT EVERYONE IS DOING, SO YOU DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING, YOU MADE IT WORSE. THESE ARE NOT A GOOD DESIGN!? WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST MAKE ACTIVE HEADRESTS MANDATORY IN CARS INSTEAD OF PUSHING THEM PERMANENTLY FORWARD? YOU CAN'T TAKE ANY CARS WITH THESE HEADREST ON A LONG DRIVE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO STOP AND GET OUT AND MOVE YOUR NECK AROUND AND HAVE IT SOMETIMES CRACK BECAUSE IT'S IN A STIFF FORWARD POSITION. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE AND DEFINITELY NOT COMFORTABLE. YOU'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING NOW!? I HAVE A 2011 INFINITI G37S COUPE MY HEADRESTS ARE COMFORTABLE AND I AM NOT BUYING ANY CAR AFTER 2011 THAT HAS UNCOMFORTABLE HEADRESTS. WE'VE EVEN GONE AS FAR AS TO START SEARCHING JUNK YARDS FOR HEADRESTS THAT HAVE THE SAME WIDTH BETWEEN THE POSTS SO WE CAN SWAP THEM OUT IN HER CAR.
VSA, AVS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON WITH DECREASED RESISTANCE IN PETAL. BRAKES WILL RETURN TO NORMAL WITHOUT WARNING PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS MAKES DRIVING AND STOPPING UNSAFE AND UNPREDICTABLE.
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE (SPEED LESS THAN 5 MPH) AND APPLYING THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR SEEMED TO SPEED UP. THE CAR JUMPED THE CURB AND STRUCK A TREE. A GOOD SAMARITAN ASSISTED AND ACTUALLY GOT IN THE CAR AND FOUND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THE CAR HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. IN 2014 WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND STRUCK THE HOUSE. SHORTLY AFTER THE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATIONS. TOYOTA WAS NOTIFIED AND INSPECTED THE CAR'S COMPUTER AND BRAKING SYSTEM PER CASE NUMBER 1410012557. AFTER THE INSPECTION TOYOTA SAID THAT THERE WERE NO BRAKE ISSUES FOUND WITH THE CAR AND STATED THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN THESE CARS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, ABOUT 65 MPH, GOING TO WORK ON 06/12/18 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:45 AM ARIZONA TIME. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG (EXPLOSION) AND LOOKED AROUND MY CAR. I NOTICED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR BLACK GLASS FLYING OFF THE ROOF OF MY CAR. THERE WERE OTHER CARS AROUND ME BUT NO TRUCKS OR SEMI'S. I CAUTIOUSLY CHANGED LANES UNTIL I COULD PULL OFF THE FREEWAY. WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR I LOOKED AT THE ROOF AND FOUND THAT THE SUNROOF OF MY CAR WAS SHATTERED AND HAD DROPPED INTO THE AREA BELOW THE ROOF. I COULD STILL HEAR GLASS CRACKING AND SEE IT FALLING INTO THE WELL UNDER THE ROOF AREA. I HAD HAD THE INSIDE SHIELD CLOSED SO THERE WAS NO GLASS ON ME. I SLOWLY DROVE TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO ASK FOR HELP. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE AND THAT I PROBABLY HAD SOMETHING HIT MY ROOF. I TOLD THEM THAT I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING FLYING AT ME AND THAT THERE WERE NO TRUCKS/SEMI'S AROUND ME. THEN THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BUT WOULD HELP ME CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO FILE A CLAIM. I DID (IT TOOK STATE FARM OVER AND HOUR TO FIGURE OUT WHERE TO CONNECT ME FOR A GLASS CLAIM). I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP AND GET AN ESTIMATE, THEN GET IT APPROVED, AND GET A RENTAL CAR. EVEN AT THE BODY SHOP I COULD STILL HEAR THE GLASS CRACKING. EVERYONE KEPT TELLING ME THAT SOMETHING MUST HAVE ME BUT I DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING WHEN IT HAPPENED, JUST THE LOUD BANG LIKE AN EXPLOSION.
MY CAR WILL TURN ON, BUT IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE UNTIL NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. I USUALLY HAVE TO TURN IT ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 10-15 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL ALLOW MY TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE KEY FOB WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK THE CAR. THE CAR WILL STILL TURN ON, AC WILL STILL COME ON, RADIO STILL WORKS. THE ONLY THING THAT DOESN'T WORK ON THE FIRST 10-15 TRIES IS THE SIFTING INTO GEAR. PRIUSCHAT FORUM TALK ABOUT THIS ISSUE A LOT. THEY ALL HAVE SIMILAR STORIES WITH THE SAME DETAILS AS MINE. IT TAKES ME ABOUT 5-7 MIN TO GET MY CAR STARTED. ONCE I FINALLY GET THE CAR IN GEAR, NO ISSUES POP UP FOR THE REST OF THE DRIVE. ALL OF THIS STARTED ABOUT WITHIN THE LAST MONTH FOR ME.
THE DRIVER SEATBELT BUCKLE WILL NOT UNBUCKLE
THE BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ALL CAME ON AT ONCE WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY. IT DID NOT AFFECT THE DRIVABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE SPECIALIST SAID THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AND QUOTED A $2500 SERVICE PRICE TO REPLACE IT. IF IT IS THIS KNOWN AND THIS EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE THEN IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THAT WOULD MAKE IT A DESIGN FLAW BY THE MANUFACTURER.
