NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2010 Toyota RAV4. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2010 Toyota Rav4. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 111,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 290,055.
I was about to accelerate on a main avenue, made a clunking sound and came to a halt. Couldn't pull over safely. Investigated by mechanic, said the Transmission exploded, and the differential gears broke. No warning lights.
I totaled my car into a fence
The paint on hood is rusty and corroded, this can affect the body of the vehicle since it exposes the metal and can pose a safety problem. Toyota had a recall for 2010 white paint well the same thing happen to mine which is metallic gray. I have another car from another brand from 2012 and paint is intact just faded which is normal but not corroded. I contacted Toyota and they refuse to take my complaint. They only gave me a claim number 250808001898 for record
Burns oil. No leaks and compression is spot on. Burns oil so bad that around every 2,000 miles, if you hit the brakes to hard it causes the car to stall. Whether it's in a parking lot or intersection. Has happened several times. Since I purchased the car in 2022. Has been inspected by Toyota mechanics on more than one occasion, but can't find any solution, have tried thicker oils, oil stabilizers and nothing helps.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop light, with the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard the vehicle failed to stop as intended. As a result, the contact rear-ended the vehicle ahead. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. A police report was filed and injuries were not reported. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.
NHTSa CAMPAIGN ID 16v596000 AUG 12, 2016 Recalls supercedes 13V-383 vehicles inspected but did not have both arms replaced. Vehicles need to have both arms replaced. Recall done on vehicle (RAV4 2010) were COJ - 1/9/2013 Stevens Creek Toyota CSJ - 9/21/2014 Capitola Toyota Control Arm were not replaced at these times. My car is currently being serviced at IQ Autoworks in Campbell CA. I've been told the control arm needs replacement. Quoted $1700 to replace one control arm.
Engine oil is burning with out discharging from the engine. Can find no leak anywhere in the engine compartment. Constantly adding oil to the car as the oil indicator isn’t working either. The engine compression is spot on to manufacturers specifications. If the engine runs out of oil it could lead to a crash. Suspension: Loud popping in the rear drivers side when first moving. Don’t know if it is tie rod or something else. Don’t need whatever is causing the pop to break as that could lead to a crash.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the moon roof glass fractured without impact. The local dealer was contacted and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 187,000.
I just purchased a used 2010 toyota rav 4 base fwd and when making left or right turn I hear loud clunking noises and when backing up I hear squeaking noises plus I see liquid under car near middle. I also noticed when I add washer fluid and check level couple days later without using it ,,it is not visible ...and can't find pink coolant in stores that is in resivoir which needs to be topped off according to mechanic
Transmission vavle body issue and not safe to drive
Driver belt seat loose
Impact on Right front end at 60 mph and air bags did not deploy
I have a 2010 Toyota rav4 limited and sometimes the car starts and sometimes it doesn’t but all the light come on but the car itself doesn’t start I replaced the battery, starter, starter safety switch but it still doesn’t start sometimes
On August 10 2022 I was pulling slowly into a parking spot with foot lightly on brake to control forward motion car attempted to surge /accelerate . I stepped firmly on brake and since car was nearly stopped I put it in to park. RPM's went up dramatically and then car reverted to normal rpms. I estimate that the entire process.I estimate that the entire process took place in about 30 seconds or less. I immediately took vehicle to the Toyota dealer and they presumably checked it out and found no problems with vehicle. They "deemed it accidental accelerator pedal engagement by customer" which it was definitely not! A similar situation occurred about 3 months earlier. That time I was pulling slowly into traffic and suddenly car tried to accelerate. I pressed firmly on brake pedal and acceleration stopped. Entire event was very brief seconds and I ignored it as a possible anomaly not requiring attention. I reported that to dealer as well when I took it in for the 10 August incident.
While driving my vehicle, it began to smoke under the hood. I exited the highway in order to pull over in a safer location. Some smoke started coming through the vent in the car as I pulled over. I exited the car and moved away and small flames began at the air vents on the outside. After I called 911, The fire kept building until the front half of the car was engulfed. The fire department came and put out the fire. They weren’t sure the exact cause, but believe it started in the engine. My car was up to date on inspection and was not yet due for an oil change. No dashboard service lights were on beforehand. I had State Farm insurance and am not sure yet if they were able to find anything from their investigation.
My tires are a 225/65R17. repeatedly, in heavy rain or very wet snow, the tires on mounted on the driver's side hydroplane and lose traction. I am concerned that this problem is due to the design of the tread. This is a directional tire that is only designed for the right side of the vehicle. Tires mounted on the Left side of the vehicle channel water/wet snow toward the center of the tire, causing them to hydroplane under these conditions. All other road conditions: ice, light rain, snow, dry roads, the tires are noisy but do not lose traction
I was operating the vehicle on 09/25/2021 and at approximately 9:45am, the car accelerated quickly causing me to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a guard rail. I was driving about 35-40 miles per hour and the vehicle took off out of no where and the car wouldn't brake. It was extremely frightful and I am lucky that the guard rail was in place, otherwise the vehicle would of flipped over or worse.
[XXX] Hi, My name is [XXX]i. I own a 2010 Toyota RAV4. Which I had bought from roseville Toyota dealership. On Sunday afternoon, I was driving back to my home from South Lake Tahoe. I drove for almost 40 miles and suddenly the steering got locked while I was driving the car. There was no prior indication of steering lock lights before I start the car. The steering got locked suddenly in a winding road. I called Geico roadside assistance and towed the car and it is with Thomsons Toyota, placerville, ca. The dealer told me that they found issue with alternator and battery. The reason I am reporting this issue is it should have steering lock light turned on before I start the car, so that it could avoid potential accident situation. Request you to please investigate in this. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the steering wheel inadvertently locked and the vehicle loss power. The steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he was able to veer to the side of the road while driving downhill. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could not provide any assistance as the vehicle was out of warranty. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.
This car was bought for a new driver and we have had 2 separate occasions when she has gotten somewhere and the car wont start. All the warning lights come on, but will not do anything when you push the button. We can jump it and it will start. This is not safe for a young person that could get stranded at random somewhere, and is now afraid to take it somewhere. We have checked the connections and the battery has been checked and is fine. The other complaint is the rear suspension recall. The tires were rotated and now it has a vibration, I was told that because of the recall it cannot be aligned unless things are replaced because of the terrible fix job on the recall. If something is recalled it should be fixed correctly and not be a bandaid job. There should not be a cost associated with a cheap fix that caused more problems. We purchased this vehicle because of reputation, if they are not supporting their product, then it will go and no other toyota products will be purchased.
Steering becomes very hard to control with no slack and in the wheel and occasionally it feels like you hit ice and sliding when you change lanes, happens on dry paved road without warning. Also when using cruise control hitting button to slow down the headlights and dash lights fade out and then brighter when acceleration
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV-4. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH AND APPROACHING AN EXIT RAMP OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE CONTACT STATED THEY WERE DEPRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HIT A FENCE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AND THE CONTACT SHIFTED TO PARK, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART, AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THEIR RESIDENCE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURED REPORTED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER AUTOMAX CAR SALES (9541 NW 27TH AVE, MIAMI, FL 33147 PHONE: (305) 835-2222) WHO STATED THEY REPAIRED AND REPLACED THE BRAKES AND CONTROL ARMS ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THE FAILURE PERSISTED WITH SCREECHING NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
IN OCTOBER OF 2018 PAID TO HAVE THE CHARCOAL CANNISTER REPLACED AT A COST OF $1500..NOW THE SAME TROUBLE CODES ARE IN THE SYSTEM, REQUIRING RERPLACEMENT OF CANNISTER AGAIN. I FOUND TSB 009809 FROM TOYOTA COCERNING WATER IN THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. PROBLEM OCCURED WHEN STARTED ENGINE AT HOME.
WHEN I SLOW DOWN TO APPROACH A STOP SIGN OR WAIT TO MAKE A TURN ON A CITY STREET, THE CAR STALLS. IT HAPPENS WITH LEFT HAND AND RIGHT HAND TURNS. I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND START IT AGAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED OVER WEEKS. I PUT 3/4 OF A TANK OF PREMIUM GAS TO SEE IF THAT HELPED AND IT STALLED ON THE WAY HOME. IT CAN STALL 3-4 TIMES IN A DAY OR NOT AT ALL. THE CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. I BROUGHT IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE. I NOTICE A 'RATTLING' NOISE NOW WHEN I START THE CAR. I AM AFRAID THAT I MAY TURN IN FRONT OF A CAR AND STALL SO THAT THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I EXPECT IT TO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL RATTLING NOISE DETECTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ATLANTIC AUTO BROKERS LLC (15428 S DUPONT HWY, HARRINGTON, DE 19952, (302) 566-6322) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT, BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, CONTROL ARM, BALL JOINT AND AIR FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,090.

I WAS BACKING UP, TURNING AROUND IN A DRIVEWAY. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO STOP, SOMETHING INTERFERED WITH MY ABILITY TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, RESULTING IN A LOW-SPEED (LESS THAN 2 MPH) COLLISION WITH A SHED, MINOR DAMAGE TO THE SHED AND DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER COVER OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE THIRD OR FOURTH TIME I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM (ONCE AT HIGH SPEED APPROACHING A RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL, I COULD NOT STOP PRIOR TO THE INTERSECTION EVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE), BUT THE FIRST INVOLVING A COLLISION. I INVESTIGATED THIS (NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE TRIED) AND FOUND A BRACKET WHICH APPEARS TO BE PART OF THE BRAKE PEDAL MOUNTING THAT CONTACTS MY TOES WHEN MY FOOT IS TOWARD THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND MY HEEL IS GREATER THAN ABOUT 0.5 IN. OFF THE FLOOR (I WEAR A SIZE 12 SHOE). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I AM UNABLE TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL.*DT *TR THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
INTERMITTENTLY, MY 2010 RAV4 ENGINE TURNS OFF, WHILE DRIVING, AND THEN TURNS BACK ON SHORTLY AFTER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AS YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, MEANING VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND STOP. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. NEVER HAD IT CUT OUT AT A STOP LIGHT. I'M THINKING IT'S THE ECM. THE CAR'S MAINTENANCE IS VERY UP TO DATE. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND IT HAS HAPPENED TO HER NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE EXPERIENCED IT ONCE, SHORTLY AFTER GETTING THE CAR FROM THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I ASKED THEM ABOUT IT AND THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO OFFER ANY SUGGESTIONS, OTHER THAN I COULD PAY THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES REGISTERED WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WHICH IS WHY I THINK IT'S THE ECM. TOYOTA HAS UPGRADED THE CODE LEVEL FOR THE ECM TWICE, SO I'M THINKING THERE ARE ISSUES THEY ADDRESSED IN UPGRADING THE CODE. I JUST CAN'T FIND WHAT THOSE UPGRADES FIXED ANYWHERE ONLINE. MY DAUGHTER IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR, AND IF THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T WILLING TO TALK TO TOYOTA FIRST ABOUT THE PROBLEM, I'M NOT GOING TO SHOVEL MONEY INTO THEIR POCKETS TO TINKER AROUND WITH IT...IT HAS TO HAPPEN IN THEIR PRESENCE, AS THEY SAY...
I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND ENTERING A FREEWAY RAMP TO ANOTHER FREEWAY IN A TURN AND I LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THE THROTTLE STUCK AND ACTUALLY MY CAR BEGAN TO SPEED UP ON ITS OWN! MY FOOT WAS NOT THE GAS AT THE TIME I LET IT FOR A SEC AND THAN IT WAS LIKE I SLAMMED ON THE GAS GOING INTO THE TURN ON THE RAMP IT SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME ITS THE FIRST SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPEN TO ME. IT SPED UP FROM 65 TO AROUND 68 AND THAN IT WAS OFF TO THE RACES SO I HIT GAS PEDAL AND THAN THE BREAKS AND IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN I WAS AT THE TURN OF THE RAMP WITCH DIDNT HELP IT WAS REALLY BAD FOR A SECOND I WAS LIKE WHAT THE HELL AND WHEN I NOTICED I MADE SURE MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS AND THAN IT ACCELERATED EVEN MORE!!!
REAR SUSPENSION FIX OF PREVIOUS RECALL WILL NOT ALLOW REAR ALIGNMENT OF VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE EPOXY ENCASEMENT. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. JUST SPENT 800.00 ON TIRES AND ALIGNMENT ONLY TO FIND OUT THE REAR IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND CAN'T BE ALIGNED DUE TO TOYOTA'S FIX (EPOXY ENCASEMENT).

INSTALLED REAR LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS (NON-ADJUSTABLE REAR TOES) IN 2014 PER RECALL CAMPAIGN #16V596000. TIRE VENDOR SAID REAR ALIGNMENT WAS OFF IN 2016 (WHEN REPLACING NEW TIRES) AND COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED OR REPLACED WITH ADJUSTABLE TOE DUE TO RECALL STICKER. DEALER INSPECTED TOES 2016 AND SAID SPECS ARE RIGHT AND TIRE VENDOR DOES NOT HAVE RIGHT SPECS. SINCE 2016 I HAVE REPLACED 4 TIRES TWICE WITHIN 50,000 MILES EVEN THOUGH TIRES HAVE LONGER 50,000 MILE WARRANTIES. THE TIRES HAVE LASTED LESS THAN HALF OF THEIR EXPECTED LIFETIME. IN 2019, TIRE VENDOR SAID REAR ALIGNMENT IS OFF AGAIN WHEN REPLACING TIRES AND CAN'T BE ADJUSTED DUE TO RECALL STICKER. THIS SUGGESTS THAT THE REAR TOES INSERTED IN 2014 FOR SAFETY RECALL CREATED A NEW PROBLEM - POOR ALIGNMENT WHICH CAUSES PREMATURE WEARING OF TIRES. I'M REQUESTING PERMISSION TO REPLACE NON-ADJUSTABLE REAR TOES WITH ADJUSTABLE ONES SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO KEEP PREMATURELY REPLACING MY TIRES.
TOYOTA VEHICLES EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH REAR DIFFERENTIAL DUE TO DESIGN PROBLEM. MINE HAS BOTH REAR SEALS LEAKING AND WILL COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR AT TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. BREATHER PLUG GETS CLOGGED AND PRESSURE BUILD UP CAUSES LEAKS. IF NOT REPAIRED, DIFFERENTIAL CAN POTENTIALLY CEASE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
TRANSMISSION
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 40-50 MPH, IN 4TH GEAR, A VIBRATION OR SHUDDER IS FELT IN THE TRANSMISSION. IT IS A SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER. IT CAN BE FELT INTERMITTENTLY AS LONG AS YOU ARE HOLDING A CONSTANT SPEED. IF YOU MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY SHIFT DOWN IT STOPS, BUT AS SOON AS YOU MAINTAIN SPEED AGAIN IT WILL COME BACK. IT DOESN'T NECESSARY MATTER WHICH ROADWAY YOU ARE DRIVING ON. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING THERE IS A MALFUNCTION IN THE TORQUE CONVERTER. A "LOCK-UP CLUTCH" DESIGN FLAW IN THE DAMPER PLATE AND SPRINGS. THIS IS ALREADY A KNOWN ISSUE FOR SOME MODELS AND RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. IT IS BECOMING A BIGGER, MORE WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AND THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL MODELS WITH THIS PROBLEM.
THE SENSOR WITHIN THE COMPRESSOR HAS MALFUNCTIONED, EVERYTHING WORKS. WILL NEED A TOOL EVERY TIME I WANT TO USE DEFROSTERS OR AIR CONDITION. WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE COMPRESSOR BECAUSE OF THIS INTERNAL SENSOR MUST HAVE WENT BAD/NOT WORKING RIGHT. YOU NEED THE DEFROSTERS IN ORDER TO SEE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, NO DEFROSTER/AIR CONDITION EITHER.
TOYOTA FOUND OCCUPANT ECU NEEDED REPLACEMENT INTERNAL FAILURE. SIMPLY THE SEATBELT LIGHT AND AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. . AIR BAG SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF AND IS NOT PROTECTING PASSENGER IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT TRAVELED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED BY WEST HERR TOYOTA OF ORCHARD PARK (4141 SOUTHWESTERN BLVD, ORCHARD PARK, NY 14127). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,482.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated that she gets her vehicle maintenance on a regular basis, however, when she took her vehicle to get serviced by an independent mechanic she was advised that the oil was low. The contact stated that they put oil in the vehicle, however, when it was time for the vehicle to get maintenance again, she was again advised that the oil was low and that the vehicle was leaking oil. The contact stated that after a while she noticed she was inputting 3 quarts of oil per week in the vehicle. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated on the vehicle at the time of failure. The contact stated that she does not know if the vehicle was losing oil until she checks the oil, which occurs on a regular basis. The contact stated she did contact the manufacturer, who was not able to assist. The failure mileage was 200,000.
SOMETIMES WHEN I AM PULLING OUT OR PULLING IN TO PARK MY CAR I HEAR THIS BANG ON MY RIGHT REAR SIDE. SOMETIMES WHEN I AM TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT AND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE GETS MOST OF THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE I HEAR THE SAME HARD BANG. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE RODE WITH ME AND HE HEARD IT TOO. MY MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS THE STRUTS AND REPLACED THEM, BUT THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT UNDER THE CAR IN THE REAR THERE IS A BAR THAT HAS A STAMP THAT INDICATES RECALL ITEM.
THEY DID A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND IT WAS ABOUT A BOLT RUSTING ON THE BACKEND NEAR THE REAR TIRE SO THE FIX WAS TO PROTECT A BOLT. THEY PUT SOME BAR ON THE BACK SIDE NEAR THE REAR TIRE THAT MADE IT WHERE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET MY BACK END OF THE CAR ALIGNED SINCE. CAUSING MY TIRES TO KEEP GETTING BUBBLES IN THEM. THIS HAPPENS TO EVERY SET I GET AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT FIX THE REAR ALIGNMENT BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. THIS FIGHT HAS GONE ON FOR YEARS. ALL TOYOTA SAYS IS THEY WERE ONLY REQUIRED TO FIX THE RECALL ....IN OTHER WORDS THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE ALIGNMENT ISSUE. PLEASE HELP ME. I HAVE THE REPORT FROM THE LAST ATTEMPTED ALIGNMENT SHOWING HOW OUT OF ALIGNMENT THE VEHICLE IS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL RIMS WERE CRACKED, WHICH CAUSED AIR TO LEAK FROM THE TIRES. THE CONTACT CALLED TAYLOR TOYOTA OF HERMITAGE AT 724-347-7702 (LOCATED AT 2757 E STATE ST, HERMITAGE, PA 16148) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RIMS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DENIED ANY SUCH FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.
IN THE PAST 4 YEARS THE CHARCOAL CANISTER AND PURGE VALVE HAS GONE BAD. WHY DOES THE HAVE TO BE REPLACED SO OFTEN? I'M ON A FIXED INCOME AND CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THIS EVERY FOUR YEARS, THEN I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE GOOD FAITH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV 4. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, BUT IT KEPT GOING. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FORCE AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRIAN EASLEY TOYOTA (409 SPARTANBURG HWY, HENDERSONVILLE, NC 28792, (828) 693-7261) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
YESTERDAY MY CAR DROVE PERFECTLY FINE. TODAY, I AM PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THERE WAS A DELAYED REACTION, THEN A THUD AND THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD AT THE TIME OF THE THUD. IT DID IT AGAIN WHEN I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE, PROPELLING THE VEHICLE FORWARD SUDDENTLY AFTER THE THUD WAS HEARD AGAIN. WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE, THE THUD WAS HEARD AGAIN, NOT AS LOUD. ALL OF MY DRIVING WAS ON CITY STREETS, BUT DUE TO THE SUDDEN LERCHING FORWARD AFTER THE THUD SOUND, I KEPT A VERY WISE DISTANCE FROM VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAPPENED BOTH IN STATIONARY AND ALSO WHILE IN MOTION. IT FEELS LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH I HAVE READ ABOUT ISSUES WITH ECM SOLENOIDS. THIS CAR HAS RECORD OF BEING SERVICED ON A VERY REGULAR BASIS. IT HAS ABOUT 148K MILES ON IT.
SUV ACCELERATED WHEN I USED THE BRAKE! I WAS STOPPING AT RED LIGHT!
TOYOTA ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL G0V A FEW YEARS AGO THAT SEALED THE REAR SUSPENSION ARMS WITH AN EPOXY. MY REAR ALIGNMENT IS OUT, AND I CANNOT NO LONGER ADJUST MY REAR SUSPENSION UNLESS I REPLACED BOTH REAR SUSPENSION ARMS. TOYOTA SAYS THIS IS MY OWN PROBLEM, AND ANY REPAIR ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SAFETY RECALL HAS TO COME FROM MY POCKET. HOW CAN THE SAFETY RECALL LEAD TO ANOTHER PROBLEM? I AM PROBABLY NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AS I READ SEVERAL OTHER FOLKS WHO VOICED THEIR CONCERNS ONLINE. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT NHTSA CAN DO?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CONSUMED TOO MUCH OIL AND WAS TAKEN EVERY SIX MONTHS TO BE SERVICED AT IRA TOYOTA OF DANVERS (99 ANDOVER ST, DANVERS, MA 01923, (978) 739-8300). THE CONTACT WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ALSO, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE ENGINE MADE AN ABNORMAL SOUND DUE TO LACK OF OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING BACKED OUT OF A MECHANIC'S GARAGE AFTER ROUTINE BRAKE MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED. THERE WAS NO IMPACT PRIOR TO THE DEPLOYMENT. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT STORY IF MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE IN THE CAR AND DRIVING WHILE THIS OCCURRED. AS OF THIS WRITING, I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH TOYOTA (CORPORATE) AS INSURANCE HAS APPRAISED THE DAMAGE AT OVER $11,000 MAKING THIS A TOTAL LOSS. I HAVE YET TO HEAR ANYTHING FROM TOYOTA REGARDING THE CLAIM.
