REAR TOE ALLINEMENNT ADJUSTERS RECALL. THE PART IS NOW BEING EPOXIED DUE TO A TOYOTA MANUFACTURING FLAW. NOW THE CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SUFFER THE COST AT $600.00 TO HAVE A SIMPLE ALLINEMENT DONE ON THE REAR OF THE CAR. THE ONLINE CAR REVIEWS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE REALLY PISSED FOR BEING PLAYED SUCKERS FROM TOYOTA. THERE IS A LOT OF LOYAL TOYOTA CUSTOMERS GOING TO DROP TOYOTA AND GO WITH HONDA. AND AFTER GETTING RID OF THESE FLAWED CARS TO THE OPEN MARKET AND OTHER PEOPLE GET TO OWN FLAWED JUNK 'TOYOTA'S', THEIR VIEW WILL BE THE SAME AS THE CURRENT TOYOTA OWNERS. THEN THE SNOWBALL EFFECT KICKS IN PLUS ALL THE NEWS ABOUT TOYOTA'S NOW BEING JUNK CARS I'M SURE WILL HURT THE COMPANY WHERE IT SHOULD, IN THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS. I WAS A BIG LOYAL TOYOTA OWNER FOR YEARS, TAKING A LOT OF HEAT FROM MY NASCAR FRIENDS FOR OWNING A TOYOTA, WAIT TILL THEY HEAR ABOUT THIS, THIS WILL MAKE THEIR DAY AND A I TOLD YOU SO WILL BE NEXT. TOYOTA HAS OR HAD A CHANCE TO DO IT RIGHT AND THEY ARE BLOWING IT BIG TIME. 2006-2011 YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON THE RAV4, OVER 200,000 CARS. AT THIS NUMBER TOYOTA WILL GO DOWN QUICK. I ALSO HAVE BEEN THROUGH 2 SETS OF EXPENSIVE TIRES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM TO FIND OUT IT'S A SHODDY WAY FOR TOYOTA TO DO BUSINESS LIKE THIS. WE, THE CUSTOMER HAVE BEEN PLAYED OFF AS STUPID, I DON'T SEE IT THAT WAY ALONG WITH A LOT OF OTHERS. I HEAR HONDA'S ARE STILL DOING IT RIGHT, IF SOMETHING DON'T HAPPEN SOON, I WILL BE FINDING IT OUT MYSELF. OH I ALMOST FORGOT, THE TIRES NOW GOING BAD WAY TO SOON IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOW VERY HARD TO AFFORD THE COST OF OPERATION FOR THIS VEHICLE, YOU THINK IT'S THE SHOCKS, THEY CHECK GOOD, SHAME ON YOU TOYOTA.
MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE REAR SUSPENSION RECALL ENACTED IN 2012. I HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED AT MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER IN 2014. RECENTLY I PURCHASED NEW TIRES AT A FIRESTONE DEALER AND PURCHASED A A LIFETIME ALIGNMENT. WHEN THEY PERFORMED THE ALIGNMENT FOR FRONT AND REAR, BOTH NEEDED A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT COULD NOT BE DONE AND THEY CAN ONLY ADJUST THE FRONT AS THE REAR HAD A TAG THAT STATES "ONLY TO BE SERVICED BY AN AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALER." FURTHERMORE, WHEN TOYOTA SERVICED THE RECALL, THEY PAINTED EPOXY OVER THE ENTIRE ARM. NOW THIS LEAVES FOR A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX. THE RECALL SOLUTION MADE BY TOYOTA DISABLED THE ABILITY TO ADJUST THE TOE IN TOE OUT FUNCTION TO ALIGN THIS VEHICLE PROPERLY. I CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE WHOLE SUSPENSION NEEDS TO BE REDONE WITH NEW PARTS AND NEW KITS COSTING 200 DOLLARS PLUS LABOR. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A ENGINEERING PROBLEM. THE RECALL FIX DID NOT ALLOW AN ADJUSTABLE ARM AND THIS WILL CAUSE AN UNEVEN WEAR ON MY BRAND NEW TIRES. THIS IS WRONG AND TOYOTA FEELS THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY ON THIS MATTER AND IS LAYING THIS BLAME ON THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY RECALLS. IN MY OPINION ANOTHER RECALL SHOULD BE IN ORDER. PEOPLE THAT OWN THESE VEHICLES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT CHARGES TO FIX AN ALREADY RECALLED REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEM. WITH ALL THE ROAD HAZARDS ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME OR ANYTIME, AN ALIGNMENT IS BOUND TO OCCUR. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO GET THE MANUFACTURES TO OWN UP TO THE INADEQUACY OF THE RECALL SOLUTION THEY PERFORMED. P.S. SOME OF US CONSUMERS KEEP OUR CARS FOR A LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. AND I KNOW TOYOTA LIKES TO BRAG ABOUT THE LONGEST LASTING MOST DEPENDABLE CAR ON THE ROAD. I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT KEEP MY CARS MAINTAINED AT I'S MAXIMUM DRIVING CAPACITY.
WHINING SOUND, POSSIBLY TRANSMISSION. THE SOUND HAPPENS WHEN I ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN A CERTAIN SPEED (25-45 MPH). WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL THE SOUND GOES AWAY SO IT'S ONLY TEMPORARY. I CAN'T REALLY HEAR IT ON THE HIGHWAY BUT WHEN I'M ON THE SMALL ROADS I SOMETIMES DO. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD WITH SLIGHTLY LESS OF 100, 000 MILES. THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN A FEW MORE YEARS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (PARKWAY TOYOTA, 50 SYLVAN AVE, ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ 076320, (201) 944-3300) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I HAVE MY REAR TIRES WEARING UNEVEN. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO GET AN ALIGNMENT BUT TOYOTA HAS A STICKER ON IT SAYING NO ONE CAN ADJUST DUE TO RECALL. TOYOTA APPARENTLY PUT APOXY ON THEIR SUSPENSION RECALL AND NOW MY CAR NEEDS AN ALIGNMENT AND NO ONE CAN FIX IT. TOYOTA SAYS FOR 850.00 THEY WILL FIX IT. SERIOUSLY, IT ONLY NEEDS AN ALIGNMENT BUT BECAUSE THEY DID A HORRIBLE JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE I AM UNABLE TO MAINTAIN MY OWN CAR. THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGING ME. HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS. THIS IS THEIR FAULT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. WHEN THE MECHANIC PLACED THE VEHICLE ON THE LIFT, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM WAS BOLTED AND EPOXIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM WAS REPAIRED ON DECEMBER 21, 2014 BY TOYOTA OF MORRISTOWN (169 RIDGEDALE AVENUE, MORRISTOWN, NJ 07960) PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V383000 (SUSPENSION). IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE STARTED TO WEAR UNEVENLY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY, THE SUNROOF SUDDENLY CRACKED AND THEN SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS (ROCK, BOLT) ETC FOUND IN THE GLASS ONCE WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER AND LOOK AT THE DAMAGE. THE GLASS APPEARS TO HAVE BOWED UPWARD AND AWAY FROM THE FRAME AND THEN SHATTERED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN INTO THE DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MULLER TOYOTA (2019 NJ-31, CLINTON, NJ 08809, (908) 638-4100) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR WAS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD AND THAT THE VISOR WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormal sounds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Nashville Toyota North (2400 Gallatin Pike N, Madison, TN 37115), and diagnosed that the rear differential coupling was leaking oil, the rear driver's side axle bearing was faulty, and the radiator was leaking. The rear differential coupling, rear driver's side axle bearing, and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was past the nine-year extended warranty coverage. The failure mileage was 97,900.
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST BUTLER TOYOTA LOCATED AT 9419 ARONSON DR., INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240. THIS IS THE ADDRESS OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. WE HAVE BEEN CALLING THEM FOR TWO YEARS TO TRY AND GET THE RECALLS TAKEN CARE ON OUR CAR. EACH TIME WE HAVE CALLED THEY SAY THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK. I JUST TRIED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN TODAY AND WAS GIVEN THE SAME STORY.
MY CAR IS TOYOTA 2010 RV4 SPORT.THIS MORNING WHEN I START ENGINE, THE SYMBOLS OF "ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT , ABS, AIRBAG, BREAKER , SLIP INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT" ON DASHBOARD ALL LIGHTS ON. THAT'S NEVER HAPPEN BEFORE. AND WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOME HEAVY. I WAS SO SHOCKED AND GO TO A LOCAL AUTO SERVICE STORE, THEY CHECK AND TOLD ME THIS IS ELECTRONIC STEERING MOTOR ISSUE. THEY ADJUSTED AND WHEEL BACK TO NORMAL NOW, BUT THEY ALSO MENTION THEY CAN NOT GUARANTEE THE SAME SITUATION WILL BE BACK OR NOT. AND THEY RECOMMEND ME TRY TO AVOID DRIVE ON FREEWAY ( BUT THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE IF YOU LIVE IN CALIFORNIA). I WAS TOLD THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN ON TOYOTA RECALL GROUP BUT NOT INCLUDING MY CAR'S MAKE YEAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (COPELAND TOYOTA, 1554 MAIN ST, BROCKTON, MA 02301) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.

THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL, BUT IT WAS REPAIRED ANYWAY AT TOYOTA OF PORTLAND (55 NE BROADWAY ST, PORTLAND, OR 97232, (503) 284-1105). AT NO COST. TOYOTA?S PRESCRIBED RECALL REPAIR INVOLVES APPLYING AN EPOXY TO THE ADJUSTMENT NUTS ON THE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS (TOYOTA PART # 4871042020), PER THE INSTRUCTIONS SPECIFIED BY TOYOTA (SAFETY RECALL ?CSJ?). IN DECEMBER 2018, A TIRE SERVICE CENTER NOTED THE CONTACT?S REAR WHEELS WHERE OUT OF ALIGNMENT BUT THAT THEY COULD NOT PERFORM AN ALIGNMENT DUE TO THE APPLICATION OF THE EPOXY ? WHICH SEIZED THE ADJUSTMENT NUTS IN PLACE. THE CONTACT IS NOW UNABLE TO HAVE A REAR ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE SUSPENSION ARMS MUST BE ENTIRELY REPLACED IN ORDER TO REALIGN THE REAR WHEELS ? WITH TOYOTA INSISTING THE RECALL WORK (APPLYING EPOXY) IS PERFORMED AGAIN AT CONTACT?S EXPENSE. CONTACT WAS QUOTED $1050 BY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO PERFORM THE WORK. PRIOR TO THE RECALL, A REAR ALIGNMENT COULD BE PERFORMED AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP (OR ANY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC) ? UTILIZING THE ADJUSTMENT NUTS ? FOR APPROXIMATELY $85. IN SUMMARY, THE CONTACT BELIEVES TOYOTA?S PRESCRIBED RECALL REPAIR HAS INTRODUCED A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO REMOVING THE ABILITY TO HAVE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PERFORM A REAR ALIGNMENT.*DT *JB *TR
DECEMBER 8, 2017, IN 2010 RAV4, ABOUT 27 MPH HEADING FORWARD, HIT HEAD-ON, (CITY STREET) 12TH ST. NW, ALBUQUERQUE. OTHER DRIVER DUI (BLEW 2.6 ABOUT 1 HR LATER), WRONG-WAY IN MY LANE, DROVE SILVERADO, SEEMED TO SPEED UP UPON IMPACT, ATTEMPTED TO KEEP GOING BUT SILVERADO HOOKED INTO BRAKED RAV. MY CAR WAS PUSHED BACKWARD ABOUT 40 FT., ACCORDING TO POLICE OFFICERS. SHOCKING SOUND AND FEELING UPON IMPACT. MY AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT DID NOT DEFLATE--INSTEAD, IT EXPLODED. HAVE HAD BREATHING PROBLEMS SINCE, EXACERBATION OF ASTHMA, BURNING FEELING IN EARS, OTHER SYMPTOMS. I DID NOT KNOW THAT THE AIR BAG WAS SUPPOSED TO DEFLATE. ADJUSTER AGREES IT EXPLODED, BUT DOES NOT KNOW IF HE HAS A PHOTO OF THE EXPLODED AIR BAG. HE WILL LOOK THROUGH HIS PHOTOS.
RECALL SERVICE WAS NOT PERFORMED BY AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP AS PART OF A SCHEDULED SERVICE ON MULTIPLE RECALLS. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR DEALERSHIP HAS CONTACTED ME FOR UPDATED RECALL SERVICE. A VERBAL EXPLANATION FOR THIS LACK OF RECALL SERVICE IS THAT A PART IS NOT AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THIS ONE RECALL SERVICE.
SINCE PREVIOUS RECALL REMEDY PERFORMED FOR THE WATER DIVERTER CHANNEL. IN ADDITION, A NEW WIPER LINKAGE WITH A WIPER MOTOR CRANK ARM WILL BE INSTALLED. THE WIPER LINKAGE WILL HAVE A PROTECTIVE COVER OVER THE WIPER LINKAGE JOINT TO MINIMIZE WATER SPLASH AND A RETAINER RING TO PREVENT THE WIPER ARM FROM SEPARATING FROM THE WIPER MOTOR. WHEN RAINING WATER HAS BEEN DIVERTED INTO VEHICLE FROM BEHIND GLOVE BOX AND LEAKS ON FLOOR MATS AND CARPETING. WATER IS CONTINUING TO SET ON WIPER ASSEMBLY. VERIFIED WATER NOT COMING FROM MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION OR FROM WINDSHIELD AS THIS ONLY OCCURS DURING RAINING PERIODS SINCE RECALL WAS PERFORMED.

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE SPEED ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY CAUSING THE CONTACT TO REAR END THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER, WHILE SHE HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO MEDICAL INJURIES THAT WERE SUSTAINED THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED, THE CONTACT ABLE WAS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. *TT UPDATED 9/18/18*JB
WATER LEAKING ONTO PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR LEAKING DOWN FROM BEHIND AND TO THE LEFT OF THE GLOVEBOX, NOT FROM RAIN. POSSIBLE AIR CONDITIONER
HEARD A LOUD SOUND IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 30 MPH. SOUND HEAR AGAIN WHILE TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. LATER, WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE SWAYING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION, WHICH REVEALED THAT THE REAR SWAY BAR LINKS WERE LOOSE AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. ONE REAR SHOCK WAS LEAKING AND BOTH REAR SHOCKS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SWAY BAR LINK DEFECT IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER SINCE THIS IS CLEARLY A PRODUCT DEFECT WITH POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY CONSEQUENCES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GALAXY TOYOTA DEALER, LOCATED ON 750 NJ-36, EATONTOWN, NJ 07724 (732) 544-1000, WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE HAD PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO GALAXY TOYOTA DEALER, WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
REGARDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 13V383000 FOR 2006-2011 TOYOTA RAV4 THE ACCEPTED REPAIR PROCEDURE FOR THE ABOVE REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN IS FLAWED. ON MY VEHICLE, THE EFFECT OF PERMANENTLY DISABLING THE REAR TOE ADJUSTMENT HAS GREATLY INCREASED MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING COSTS AND HAS POTENTIALLY DEGRADED THE SAFETY OF ALL VEHICLES OF THIS TYPE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED GREATLY ACCELERATED WEAR OF THE RUBBER SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND TIRES RESULTING IN THE REQUIREMENT OF A COMPLETE REAR SUSPENSION REBUILD. MY CONCERN IS THAT OTHER VEHICLES OF THIS TYPE THAT ARE NOT MAINTAINED TO STANDARDS DUE TO COST, OR HAVE HAD THE RECALL REVERSED TO MITIGATE THE FINANCIAL IMPACT, AS I HAVE DONE, ARE OPERATING IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION. IN EFFECT THIS CAMPAIGN HAS CREATED A COST BARRIER TO PROPER MAINTENANCE OF CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEMS. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE, AND THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN INVESTIGATING, REVISITING OR OFFERING OTHER SOLUTIONS TO THIS ISSUE AS THE RECALL REPAIR PROCEDURE WAS QUOTE "APPROVED BY THE GOVERNMENT".
MOONROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE SITTING PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. HOLE PROTRUDED OUTWARD WHICH INDICATES BUILD UP OF PRESSURE AND HEAT CAME FROM WITHIN THE VEHICLE AND NOT OUTSIDE FROM FOREIGN OBJECT. WHEN THE VEHICLE HYDRO PLANED OFF THE ROAD DO TO THE ANTI TRACTION BEING DISABLE THREW THE BRAIN OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE CHARCOAL CANSTERED IS BAD .THAT WHAT THE TOYOTA PLACE TOLD ME THE CHARCOAL CANISTER HELPS CONTROL EMISSION NOT THE WAY THE VEHICLE PERFORMS TOYOTA STATED THAT'S THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD GET THE CONSUMER TO REPLACE IT. TO DISABLE THE TRACTION,4WHEELDRIVE,AND CREWS CONTROL. I AM A MED. RETIRED VET I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY OVER 1000.00 DOLLARS FOR THIS PART WITCH CONTROLS EMISSION NOT THE WAY THE VEHICLE OPERATES UNDER ADVERSE CONDITIONS.
THE REAR SUSPENSION ARM SEPARATED CAUSING ME TO PULL OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE RIGHT REAR TYRE WAS BENT OUT OF PLACE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC HE TOLD ME IT IS PAD PART IN ALL TOYOTAS AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED ASAP

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STATE HIGHWAY SCRT 31 AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT, THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO COLLISION OR ANY OTHER FACTOR THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS DEPOLOYMENT. 2010 RAV4 WITH ONLY 28000 MILES ON IT HAS HAD TWO RECALLS FOR REAR SUSPENSION. THE SECOND ONE (G0V NHTSA 16V-596) HAS YET TO BE PERFORMED AS THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. THIS IS A SERIOUS RECALL IN MY OPINION AND TOYOTA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH MORE CONCERN. I AM HAVING ISSUES WHERE THE RIDE QUALITY HAS DIMINISHED SINCE THE FIRST RECALL WAS PERFORMED. ALSO, I HAVE HAD NEW TIRES PLACED ON THE VEHICLE AND AM WANTING THE RECALL PERFORMED QUICKLY IN AN EFFORT TO NOT ACCELERATE TIRE WEAR FROM BAD ALIGNMENT. I ALSO AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AND LIMIT MY WIFE AS TO HOW FAR AND FAST SHE CAN DRIVE IT. IT IS HER PRIMARY CAR.

I PURCHASED NEW FROM TOYOTA OF WARRENTON, VA IN 2010. MY CAR DEVELOPED A PAINT PEELING PROBLEM LAST WINTER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY AN AUTO PAINT COMPANY THAT IT IS DUE TO MANUFACTURER MALFUNCTION. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT TOYOTA OF NORTH AMERICA; I FILED A COMPLAINT, MET WITH MY LOCAL DEALER AND DISCOVERED THAT CORPORATE GIVES THE DEALER THE POWER TO DELETE THE CLAIM, PREVENTING ME FROM DEALING DIRECTLY WITH THE MANUFACTURER. IN EFFECT, I HAVE NO RECOURSE.
THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN THE CLOSED POSITION & IS CONSTANTLY FALLING DOWN, WHICH OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW. THE ATTACHED PHOTO SHOWS THE VISOR AS CLOSED AT IT WILL STAY. WE WERE PULLING OUT OF A PARALLLEL PARKING SPOT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET VERY SLOWLY. THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR UNINTENDEDLY ACCELERATED VERY FAST AND HIT ANOTHER PARKED CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. IT SEEMED LIKE THE CAR TOOK CONTROL ON ITS OWN AS WE WERE PULLING OUT VERY SLOWLY.

2010 TOYOTA RAV 4. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE WHEEL ALIGNMENT ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON DECEMBER 19, 2016 SHE HAD HER BALD TIRES REPLACED WITH NEW TIRES. A WHEEL ALIGNMENT DIAGNOSTIC WAS PART OF THE SERVICE. THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT, ESPECIALLY IN THE REAR. THE CONSUMER GAVE THE APPROVAL FOR THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT. HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN RETURNED AND SAID IT COULDN'T BE PERFORMED BECAUSE OF A BAR THAT WAS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE THAT HAD NO SCREWED TO ADJUST IT, AND THERE WAS A STICKER SAYING DO NOT REMOVE. HE STATED HE COULD DO THE FRONT, BUT IT WOULD NOT BE CORRECT, BECAUSE THE REAR NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED AS WELL. THE CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALER, WHO INSTALLED THE BAR AS PART OF A RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND CORPORATE WOULD HAVE TO BE INFORMED AS TO SEE WHAT THE NEXT STEP WOULD BE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE ALIGNMENT WAS $89.00. HOWEVER, IT WOULD COST $59.00 TO CHECK IT. THE CONSUMER WAS IN DISAGREEMENT WITH THE $59 CHARGE JUST TO CHECK. *JB *JS

I TOOK MY 2010 TOYOTA RAV4 TO BE ALIGNED TODAY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT BUT COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED. THE LEFT REAR WHEEL REMAINED LOCKED AS THE VEHICLE WAS WINCHED UP ONTO THE BED OF THE FLAT BED TRANSPORT TRUCK. MORE PIECES OF THE BRAKE FELL OUT DURING THIS OPERATION. WHEN AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO UNLOAD THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP THE LOCKED WHEEL PREVENTED IT FROM ROLLING OFF THE TRUCK, SO AFTER UNHOOKING THE WINCH CABLE, THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STARTED THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO BACK IT OFF. DURING THIS ATTEMPT MORE PIECES OF THE BRAKE FELL OUT, THERE OCCURRED A LOUD 'BANG,' AND THE LEFT REAR WHEEL ASSUMED AN ANGLE THAT WAS NON-PARALLEL WITH THE CAR, INDICATING TO ME THAT THIS LAST ACTION HAD SERIOUSLY DAMAGED THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM. I REQUESTED OF THE DEALERSHIP THAT A CORPORATE INVESTIGATION OF THIS FAILURE BE MADE. THEY FOUND THE BRAKES TO BE IN WORKING ORDER? NHTSA IS NOT INTERESTED IN INVESTIGATION BEYOND TAKING MY COMPLAINT. OUR TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOLD ME THAT HIS FATHER-IN-LAW HAD EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME TYPE OF FAILURE IN HIS 2013 RAV4 BUT DIDN'T REPORT IT TO THE NHTSA, SETTLING INSTEAD FOR A REDUCED PRICE FOR THE REPAIR. NO SUCH OFFER MADE TO ME FROM TOYOTA. CAR HAS BEEN AT DEALER FOR OVER 3 MONTHS. CAN'T FIND INDEPENDENT FORENSIC INVESTIGATION TO LOOK AT IT. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR WITHOUT KNOW WHAT CAUSED FAILURE. *TR
WE HIT A DEER WHILE DOING 45 TO 50 MPH ON A LOCAL 2 LANE HIGHWAY. DAMAGE WAS MAJOR AND WAS MOSTLY TO THE PASSENGER FRONT BUT WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME (ABOUT A MILE). AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED AND DID NOT PREVENT PASSENGER FROM HITTING HEAD ON WINDOW TRIM. PASSENGER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR HEAD ABRASION AND NECK PAIN. SHE WAS TREATED AND RELEASED. AS A NOTE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STAYING LIT AT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK IN PLACE. WE ARE AWAITING A VISIT FROM THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER.

WE TOOK OUR TOYOTA RAV4 TO PRINCIPLE TOYOTA FOR THE SUSPENSION RECALL ON 10/16/2019. UPON A TIRE INSPECTION TODAY (AT A LOCAL TIRE STORE) IT WAS INDICATED TO US THAT PRINCIPLE TOYOTA DID NOT INSTALL THE APPROPRIATE ARMS ON THE CAR. I AM ATTACHING A COPY OF THE SERVICE RECORD (WHICH SHOWS WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE CORRECT REPLACEMENT PARTS) BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT WAS INSTALLED ON OUR VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THIS WAS DONE IN RETALIATION BECAUSE UPON ARRIVING FOR MY PRE-SCHEDULED SERVICE APPOINTMENT PRINCIPAL TOYOTA STAFF SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS OR "SPECIAL TOOL" TO HANDLE THE RECALL.
