RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL IN 2013 FOR POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. BROUGHT CAR IN AND WAS TOLD PARTS WHERE NOT AVAILABLE. RECEIVED SECOND NOTICE THAT AIR BAG WAS RECALLED AND WARNING NOT TO ALLOW PASSENGERS IN FRONT SEAT. CONTACTED DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE AND INFORMED AIR BAG PART NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE I CAN'T USE MY SUV AS INTENDED. I COULD POSSIBLY FACE A TORT ACTION SUIT IF I ALLOW A PERSON TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT KNOWING IT IS POSSIBLY LETHAL. I AM HINDERED FROM SELLING MY VEHICLE AS I FEEL I AM OBLIGATED TO TELL POTENTIAL BUYERS THAT THEIR IS A RECALL FOR A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG THAT COULD POSSIBLY KILL A PASSENGER. I WANT THIS FIXED.
I want to bring attention to the a fatal flaw designed into Toyota truck frames. I understand Toyota denied my claim and I am out of luck with the repairs on my truck. However it is morally responsible for me to bring awareness to this deadly issue. Since most owners don't know they have a problem until the frame breaks, it is worth raising awareness to save human life. This is not a cosmetic issue, its a life or death issue for the consumer. The frame on my truck is completely rusted. In 2013, a Toyota dealership did a frame inspection on my 2003 truck per the recall notice to the previous owner. Toyota had a safety recall for a two step frame replacement for 12 years. The inspection noted an excessive amount of corrosion and rust on the frame components. In 2014, another Toyota dealership decided to spray a sealer over the rust instead of replacing the frame. The sealer trapped moisture and accelerated the oxidation process. This made the problem worse and the rust spread and destroyed the metal to a point its not repairable or safe to drive. The frame of the truck is only 20 years old and was garage kept. However it was operated in a cold climate where salt is applied to the roadways. After filing a several cases with Toyota US I was told its the consumers responsibility and the case was denied. Me and the previous owner did follow the guidelines set forth by the safety frame recall. Since Toyota worked on the frame during the time of the recall they should be held responsible for any liability to human life. Now that these vehicle are starting to age we will start see fatalities on our roadways that will be directly linked to bad frame design. Crumple zones and vehicle safety systems are not effective when the structure they are built upon are defective. I have attached pictures and dealer paperwork for review.
THE FRAME IS RUSTING OUT I HAD THE REAR BEARINGS REPLACED AND THEY WHERE RUSTED OUT TOO. ALL MOST ALL OF THE BOLTS ON THE FRAME ARE RUSTED CANT CHANGE ANY PARTS ON THE FRAME DO TO THE RUST MY WIFE WILL NOT LET THE KIDS RIDE IN THE TRUCK IAM THINKING ABOUT CALLING THE LOCAL NEWS AND HAVE THEM DO A STORY ON IT I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL AND FIXES THE PROBLEM. *TR
STARTED CAR UP AND PUT IT IN REVERSE ALL THE SUDDEN THESE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE BAKES NOW FILL FUNNY. *TR
THE TOYOTA SEQUOIA WENT NOSE DOWN AND STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE PULLING HARD TO THE RIGHT. LOSS OF POWER HAPPENED AND I HAD NO CONTROL. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT IT SEEMED LIKE THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. IT HAS DONE THIS THREE TIMES. I FEEL LIKE I WILL HIT SOMEONE OR SOMEONE WILL HIT ME! *TR
MY WIFE WAS ON FREEWAY, DRIVING OUR 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED 2WD, WHEN VSC LIGHT LIT UP AND A BUZZER SOUNDED. AT THE SAME TIME, HER VEHICLE STARTED TO DECELERATE ON ITS OWN, CAUSING VEHICLES BEHIND HER TO HAVE TO BRAKE TO KEEP FROM REAR-ENDING HER VEHICLE. THIS WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A HORRIFIC GRINDING AND BANGING SOUND. MY WIFE FOUND A SAFER PLACE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND STOP THE VEHICLE. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND VEHICLE WAS "FLAT-BED" TOWED TO REPAIR GARAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VSC TRAC, VSC AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE SEIZED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE ACROSS THE PAVEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSOR POSITION FOR THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V176000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000. *TR
HI I HAVE A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA SR5, AND THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF AND CHECK ENGINE CAME ON ALL AT ONCE, TOOK IT TO AUTO PARTS STORE AND THEY RAN THE SCANNER IT SAID TO CHANGE THE O2 SENSOR, WHICH I DID AND NOTHING CHANGED, I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN COMING UP QUIET A LOT IN THIS MODEL, CAN YOU TELL ME IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOT ANY RECALL RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA FOR A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN, FOR RUSTING OF THE FRAME. I TOOK MY TOYOTA TO KOONS TOYOTA IN ANNAPOLIS, MD. THEY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND SAID IT FAILED FOR RUST. THERE WAS A HOLE IN MY FRAME AND TOYOTA WOULD REPLACE THE FRAME AT NO COST TO ME. THEN THEY CALLED ME TO TELL ME IT WOULD COST $6,400.00 TO REPLACE EVERYTHING UNDER THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE IT WAS SO RUSTED OUT THAT WHEN THEY TOOK THE PARTS OFF THEY WOULD CRUMBLE. TWO DAYS LATER THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $6,900.00 TO REPLACE PARTS. THEY CALLED LAST NIGHT AND SAID IT WOULD COST ME $7,845.00 AND THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE PRICE WOULD NOT BE HIGHER.THEY SENT ME PICTURES OF MY FRAME AND THERE IS A LARGE HOLE IN THE FRAME. MY QUESTION IS SHOULDN'T I GET MY TRUCK BACK IN WORKING CONDITION WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR ANYTHING? I CONTACTED TOYOTA IN CA. AND TALKED TO THE RUST SPECIALIST, AND HE SAID THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR MY PARTS. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE RETIRED AND LIVE ON A FIXED INCOME. WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE PARTS. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN PAID FOR ONCE, WHY SHOULD I TAKE OUT A LOAN FOR A TRUCK THAT HAS BEEN PAID FOR. THE DEALER ALSO ASKED US TO COME PICK UP MY TRUCK IF I WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE TO PAY FOR THE PARTS. WHEN I PICKED UP MY TRUCK TODAY, THEY SAID IF ANYTHING HAPPENED TO THE TRUCK WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT HOME, THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE, BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET IT FIXED. PLEASE MAKE TOYOTA RECALL THESE RUSTED TRUCKS BACK. THE RUSTED FRAME ALSO INCLUDES TUNDRAS, BECAUSE THEY USE THE SAME FRAME. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK DYNAPRO 110S TIRES, SIZE P265/65/R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE CHANGING HIS BRAKES, HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER, FRONT DRIVER, AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRES ALL HAD SEPARATED SIDEWALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE BUT ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE ALL TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE DOT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
THE ABS ACTUATOR ON MY 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA SR5 CAUGHT FIRE AS I WAS DRIVING HOME. THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE WAS WHEN I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND SWITCHED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND WAS TEMPORARILY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE BRAKE PEDAL ALSO SHUDDERED BEFORE I REGAINED ACCELERATION. ONE MILE DOWN THE ROAD, AT A SPEED OF APPROX. 30 MPH, 3 WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED (VSC LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT) FOLLOWED BY THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BY ITSELF. LUCKILY, I WASN'T REAR-ENDED, BUT BY THIS TIME, SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I COULD SEE FLAMES COMING FROM THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY, WIRE HARNESS, WIPER MOTOR AND HOOD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA SR5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO TO HIGHER SPEEDS AND WOULD DECELERATE INDEPENDENTLY. THE ACCELERATION WOULD RE-ENGAGE AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL FOR THE REPROGRAMMING OF THE ECU. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT (ECU) AND THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,900. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
Can not get BSC, TRC engine lights off traction control kicks in and locks steering and brakes . Unsafe can not smog after spending thousands replacing parts

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS RAPIDLY AS EXPECTED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V176000 (TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM) AND THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT RELATED TO THE FAILURE THAT THE CONTACT DESCRIBED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,100.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A FAMILIAR TWO LANE ROAD WITH MANY CURVES AND NOT REACHING A SPEED ABOVE 45 MPH, I CAME UPON A CURVE, BRAKED, AND STEERED MY SEQUOIA APPROPRIATELY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CURVE, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO TURN WITH THE CURVE, MY SEQUOIA HEADED TOWARD THE ONCOMING LANE OF TRAFFIC. AS IT VEERED TOWARD THE FENCE POSTS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD, I COULD NOT SLOW IT DOWN OR STEER IT BACK TO MY LANE. NO MATTER HOW I PRESSED THE BRAKES, IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN BUT INSTEAD SPED UP. THE LAST I REMEMBER IS THE REALIZATION THAT I COULD DO NOTHING TO STOP OR STEER MY SEQUOIA. I ROLLED IT 3 1/2 TIMES (THROUGH THE FENCE AND THEN BACK THROUGH IT AGAIN IN ANOTHER SPOT). MANY THANKS TO GOD, MY 3 YEAR OLD MADE IT OUT WITH BUT ONE SMALL SCRATCH ON HIS ARM AND A HUGE FEAR. HOWEVER, IT TOOK THEM 1 1/2 HOURS TO GET ME OUT AND THEN I HAD TO BE CARE-FLIGHTED DUE TO FACIAL INJURIES, HEAD TRAUMA, AND DISFIGURED LEFT ARM. ALTHOUGH MY SEQUOIA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE EQUIPPED WITH SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS ALONG WITH FRONT AIRBAGS NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I KNOW CERTAIN SENSORS HAVE TO BE ACTIVATED TO INFLATE AN AIRBAG SO I FEEL I NEED TO MENTION THAT THIS VEHICLE NO LONGER RESEMBLED A SEQUOIA. NO HEADLIGHTS REMAINED, ALL WINDOWS WERE GONE, THE DASH, HOOD AND ROOF COLLAPSED IN ON ME. IT TOOK ME FIVE WEEKS TO GET BEHIND THE WHEEL AGAIN AFTER FEELING SUCH HELPLESSNESS. LAST WEEK I RECEIVED A POST CARD ABOUT TOYOTA RECALLS THAT INVOLVED MY SEQUOIA SO I DECIDED TO LOOK IT UP. I GOT VERY SICK READING THE RECALLS AND INVESTIGATIONS THAT ARE RELATED TO WHAT I EXPERIENCED. IT IS VERY UPSETTING THAT I TRUSTED TOYOTA FOR MY FAMILY AND THAT THE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH, SUDDENLY THE CAR IN FRONT ME STOP AT THE FWY. I MADE PANIC STOP BUT MY ABS WONT ACTIVATE. I JUST BUMP A CAR. *TR

THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, BUT ONE IS COMING UNLESS THIS GETS FIXED. THE VTRAC CONTROL SYSTEM THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON SELECT MODELS IN THE 2003 MODEL YEAR IS AFFECTING MINE AS WELL, TOYOTA STATES THEY WON'T FIX IT UNDER RECALL DESPITE BEING A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

RE: VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, BRAKE, ABS LIGHTS... ALL ON, ALL AT ONCE. HOW DO WE ADD OUR NAME TO THE COMPLAINT? I HAVE A 2003 . VSC & TRAC LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON AROUND 112800 K. I FOUND OUT MANY PEOPLE HAS THE SAME ISSUES AND SAME PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO COME ON CONSTANTLY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER & THEY SAID IT NEEDED 2 COMPUTERS-$2700. I TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM WAS DOCUMENTED AND ASKED THEM TO CONTACT TOYOTA BUT TO NO AVAIL. I HOPE NHTSA WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 253,00 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 257,000.
ABS LIGHT ON. REPLACE ABS SKID CONTROL ECU AND RECALIBRATE ABS SYSTEM (ALSO FOUND DTC C1247 FOR ABS SKID CONTROL COMPUTER LOGIC CHANGE. VSC LIGHT ON RECOMEND THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY/GASKET DTC P2118 THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR MOTOR CURRENT MALFUNCTION THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SKID CONTROL. NO ABS OR VSC. ALL SYSTEMS AFFECTED AS A RESULT OF SKID CONTROL. TOYOTA SAYS NOT COVERED. ??????????? *TR
2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. (CEL) LIGHT ON. ALSO (TRAC OFF) LIGHT ON AS WELL AS (VSC TRAC) LIGHT ON. SOMETIMES BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT STAY ON FOR DAYS . I HAD TRUCK IN SHOP 3 WKS AGO WITH THIS PROBLEM THEY SAID IT WAS OXYGEN SENSOR 2 (I BELIEVE) HAD IS REPLACED AND LIGHT WENT OFF. LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER. CAR SPUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING. DOESN'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. ALSO 2 MONTHS PRIOR I HAD THE CAR IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. FLUIDS, FILTERS, TIRES ROTATED, ECT AS USUAL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V176000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR REPAIRS COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY TRANSFERRED HER BACK TO THE DEALER SHIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
THE VSC TRAC LIGHT HAS BEEN ON (SHOWING IT IS OFF), ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. OCCASIONALLY THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON TOO WHILE DRIVING. TODAY THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. THE ONLY CODE THAT IS COMING UP IS FOR A WEAK O2 SENSOR. *TR
VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, BRAKE, ABS LIGHTS... ALL ON, ALL AT ONCE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE WITH THESE THAT TOYOTA DOES NOT WANT TO BE ON THE HOOK FOR. MANY OTHERS WENT TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM AND FILED A COMPLAINT. IF THEY GET ENOUGH OF THESE THEY WILL GO TO THE MANUFACTURER AND ISSUE A RECALL. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 SEQUOIA ON VACATION, A PART FELL OFF FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO RAISED IT ON A LIFT AND SAID THAT THE PART WAS THE PROTECTIVE PLATE COVERING THE GAS TANK. IT HAD ERODED OFF. HE SAID WORSE THAN THAT, THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS RUSTING AND ROTTING OUT AND FELT THAT THE CAR WOULD BE UNSAFE WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR OR 2. *TR
I TOOK THE SEQUOIA TO A MECHANIC TO REPAIR A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE FRONT AND SQUEAKING NOISE IN THE BACK. UPON EXAMINATION, THE MECHANIC NOTICED UNUSUALLY ADVANCED RUST AND CORROSION FOR A VEHICLE OF ITS AGE. FOR SAFETY REASONS, THE MECHANIC WARNED AGAINST DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRS WERE MADE. MECHANIC HAD TO CUT OUT FRONT PASSENGER CONTROL ARM BOLTS, REAR SHOCK MOUNTS, AND OTHER HARDWARE DUE TO THE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V176000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 224,000.
WE HAD INTERMITTENT OFF/ON OF INTERIOR LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING, BUT ONLY DURING LEFT TURNS. THERE WAS NO (IMPORTANT) "DOOR AJAR" ALERT WHICH NORMALLY WOULD PRESENT AS A RED ICON WARNING ON THE DASH, THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT. I WORKED AS A MECH. ENGINEER AND TESTED ALL DOORS FOR "PLAY", HOW TIGHT THE DOOR CLOSED. THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WAS LOOSE. I OPENED THE DOOR, CHECKED IF THE SEATBELT WAS SHUT-IN WITH THE DOOR BUT ALL WAS NORMAL. I WIGGLED THE LATCH WHICH IS SCREWED IN BY 2 LARGE STAR/ALLEN SCREWS. THAT WAS IT, IT WAS VERY LOOSE, IT TOOK 5 TURNS TO TIGHTEN EACH ONE. I CHECKED THE OTHER DOORS, ALL WERE JUST FINE. THE DOOR WOULD HAVE OPENED IF THIS LATCH CAME ALL THE WAY OUT, EVEN BELTED IN, A PERSON COULD BE INJURED. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT THIS USED 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA ON MAY 25, 2012. I NOTICED THE WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING A DEFECTIVE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AND ABS SYSTEM ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ASSURED ME THE SYSTEM WORKS FINE AND THAT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER MODULE. ALL THE FOLLOWING WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON AT THE SAME TIME: TRAC, VSC OFF, AND ABS LIGHTS. I ALSO CHECKED THE VEHICLE HISTORY ON THE TOYOTA WEBSITE AND IT IS RECORDED THAT THE TOYOTA DEALER WORKED ON THIS PROBLEM ON 07/23/2009 WHEN THE CAR HAD 97,187 MILES. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS AND IT SEEMS 50,000 SEQUOIA'S WERE RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER, MY SEQUOIA'S VIN WAS NOT ON THE LIST. PLEASE HELP. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER THE DEALER REUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. MY 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA'S ABS/VSC/TRAC LIGHTS ARE ON. NOW THE BRAKE LIGHT IS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. WE'VE HAD THE REAR AND FRONT BRAKE PADS CHANGED RECENTLY. CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE CENTER TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEM REGARDING THE ISSUE WITH THE LIGHTS AND BRAKES ISSUE. DID INTERNET RESEARCH AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG SEQUOIA OWNERS...YET THEY STILL DON'T HAVE A SAFELY RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ECU SKID CONTROL SYSTEM - BUT THAT MY VIN NUMBER DIDN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY PULLED THE FOLLOWING CODES: C1223, C1244, C1247 AND C1310. IT SEEMS THAT IF THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MANY SEQUOIA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING, TOYOTA SHOULD FIX IT. PLEASE HELP! *TR
THERE IS AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE FRAME OF MY WIFE'S 2003 SEQUOIA. THE RUST IS JUST FLAKING OFF IN HUGE CHUNKS WHICH IS MORE THAN JUST THE UNDER COAT OF PAINT, ITS ACTUAL CHUNKS OF DISINTEGRATED/CORRODED METAL. TOYOTA SEQUOIA (2003): JANUARY 2012 WE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE OUR 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH 75,000 MILES INSPECTED HERE IN MAINE. IT FAILED DUE TO HOLES IN FRAME. AMAZING ISSUE IS THE BODY HAS NO RUST AT ALL! NONE, YET THE FRAME IS SWISS CHEESE. OUR WINTERS ARE HARSH, AND SO IS THE SALT OUR STATE DUMPS ON THE ROADS, HOWEVER, I JUST RETIRED MY 1990 TOYOTA P/U IN 2010 WITH 220,000 MILES DUE TO RUST (20 YEARS), AND WE TRADED OUR 1992 TOYOTA PRIVIA VAN IN 2009 WITH 225,000 MI. FOR A VEHICLE WITH DOUBLE THE FUEL ECONOMY....AGAIN NO RUST ISSUE IN 17 YEARS. IT IS QUITE CLEAR TOYOTA DID NOT TREAT THE METAL ON THE FRAME PROPERLY OR USED INFERIOR MATERIALS TO BEGIN WITH. THE TOYOTA TACOMA AND TUNDRA OF THE SAME YEAR BOTH HAD MASSIVE RUSTING FRAME ISSUES WHICH HAVE HAD RECALLS FOR REPAIRS, RECOATING, AND EVEN ENTIRE VEHICLES PURCHASED BACK BY TOYOTA. THE SEQUOIA WITH PRACTICALLY THE SAME FRAME AS THE TUNDRA HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED TO DATE LIKELY DUE TO THE SMALLER NUMBERS OF SEQUOIAS SOLD MAKING THIS VEHICLES SAFETY NOT AS IMPORTANT TO TOYOTA AND THE NHTSA AS THE OTHERS. MY MAIN OBJECTION TO THIS THEORY IS I BELIEVE THE PEOPLE IN THESE VEHICLES ARE AS IMPORTANT AND DESERVE THE SAME TREATMENT AND RESOLUTION.
