TOYOTA SEQUOIA 2004 FRAME DEGRADATION TO POINT OF UNSAFE. FRONT-PASSENGER SIDE FRAME WHERE STABILIZER BAR IS WELDED TO FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH, LEAVING A LARGE HOLE AND DISCONNECTING THE STABILIZER BAR FROM THE FRAME. KNOWN ISSUES BY TOYOTA. AS FRAMES WERE INSPECTED BY SERVICE CENTERS. FRAME "PASSED". ISSUES WAS NOTICED DURING NORMAL INSPECTION - VEHICLE OPERATED WITHIN ORIGINATING INTENT AND PURPOSE. NORMAL DRIVING. TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER SUGGESTS A $12,000 FRAME REPLACEMENT TO FIX PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT FRAME FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (RUDY LUTHER TOYOTA, 8805 WAYZATA BLVD, GOLDEN VALLEY, MN 55426; (612) 424-7924) AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-331-4331 AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING CONSOLE ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
REAR DOOR HANDLE AND CABLE BRAKES WITH LITTLE PRESSURE. MANY OWNERS HAVE SAME ISSUE ON SAME MAKE MODEL. CONTINUED EXPENSIVE REPAIR RESULTS IN OWNERS JERRY RIGGING THEIR VEHICLES TO OPEN REAR DOOR. IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO NUMEROUS OWNERS THAN WE FEEL STRONGLY THAT IT IS A COMPANY DEFAULT AND SHOULD BE FIXED! MY LATEST REPAIR ON IT WAS $600 AND ITS DISGUSTING TO HAVE TO FIX IT ALL THE TIME. IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO HAVE THE CABLE BRAKE. IT'S PLASTIC, CHEAP PLASTIC DOESN'T HELP MATTERS MUCH EITHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE JACKING UP THE VEHICLE TO CHANGE THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE, THE JACK WENT THROUGH THE FRAME AND CREATED A VISIBLE HOLE AND CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED. THE FRAME WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,800.
FRONT SUSPENSION MAKING HUMMING NOISE ALL THE TIME WHILE IN MOTION, AND VIBRSTION IS FELT THROUGHOUT VEHICLE, PASSENGER SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL IS LEAKING CAUSING ROTOR TO SMOKE. FRONT DRIVER SIDE CALIPER PISTON IS JAMMED.
SEATS BEATS ALWAYS GETTING JAMMED WHEN TRYING TO PUT THEN ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED STATE INSPECTION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS SEVERE CORROSION TO THE SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,561.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE MAINTAINED IT IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT SO IT IS NOT SUBJECT TO WEATHER ROUTINELY. THE REAR LIFT GATE LATCHING MECHANISM HAS FAILED ON MY VEHICLE 4 TIMES. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA SEQUOIA VEHICLES. BOTH OF MY LOCAL DEALERS STATE IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THIS TIME THE CABLE JUST "SNAPPED". IT FAILED WHILE I WAS AT A GAS STATION AND NEEDED TO OPEN THE HATCH. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED/REPLACED TWICE IN THE LAST FEW YEARS, BUT CONTINUES TO FAIL. A SIMPLE SEARCH ON GOOGLE WILL SHOW TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THESE VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE IT FAILS WITHOUT NOTICE AND WHEN IT DOES IT ELIMINATES A MEANS OF EGRESS FROM THE VEHICLE IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. TOYOTA MOTOR SALES HAS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS BEEN IN THE MEDIA MULTIPLE TIMES FOR "NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING" WHEN THEIR VEHICLES HAVE DESIGN FLAWS. THIS IS JUST ONE MORE CASE. THE FOLLOWING WEBSITE DOCUMENTS MANY OWNERS PROBLEM WITH THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE LIFT GATE LATCH FAILING. CAN BE EXPECTED BUT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND IT IS DANGEROUS. TOYOTA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS ITEM.
THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. THERE ARE LARGE HOLES IN THE FRAME WHERE THE SWAY BAR CONNECTS TO THE FRAME

TOTALLY RUSTED FRAME. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE TO REPLACE A FRAME. CAMPAIGN ENDED ON JULY 2014 . NOW I STUCK WITH UNSAFE VEHICLE WHICH STILL HAS OVER 100,000 MILES TO DRIVE. THERE SUPPOSE TO BE ANOTHER ACTION TO REPLACE THE FRAME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V013000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
FRAME IS RUSTING UNDERNEAYH TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE HAD TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE CONTROL ARM WHICH RUSTED OFF AND BROKE WHILE DRIVING. MY TOW HITCH MOUNT HAS RUSTED OFF. THERE ARE MORE THAN 5 SPOTS ALONG THE FRAME WHERE RUST HAS PERFORATED AND THE FRAME HAS VISIBLE SIGNS OF ROT. I HAD A LICENSED GARAGE INSPECT THE FRAME AND WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND THAT THE FRAME SHOULD BE REPLACED. I AM HAVING CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS RUSTING OUT.

THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER WHO REFERRED HIM TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT WAS NOT PROVIDED ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V285000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,525. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE FRAME ON OUR 2004 SEQUOIA HAS FAILED ITS INSPECTION DUE TO BEING VERY RUSTY AND HAVING MULTIPLE PERFORATIONS. WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE FRAME OR PORTIONS OF THE FRAME HAS BEEN COMPLETED. I SPOKE WITH MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH TOYOTA WARRANTY CLAIMS, THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ASSIST US WITH GETTING A NEW FRAME. THEY CLAIM THEIR LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN ON THE FRAME HAS ENDED AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO ASSIST AT THIS TIME. THEY SAID THEIR MANAGERS DO NOT ACCEPT PHONE CALLS. SO I HAVE A DECADE OLD SEQUOIA WHICH IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. SHAME ON TOYOTA!
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. ALONG WITH 2 OTHER LIGHTS. THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER 10 TO 12 TIMES SINCE OWNING THIS SUV. EACH TIME IT IS NOTED ON MY PAPER WORK NO LEAKS FOUND AND GAS CAP REPLACED. I HAVE SPENT EACH TIME ON A AVERAGE $578 AT LEAST FOR A GAS CAP AFTER THEY HAVE CHECKED OUT THE CAR. I EVEN HAD THIS PROBLEM WHEN THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT OF COURSE NO CHARGE THEN. I NOTICE OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES HAVE RECALL ON THIS CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. I THINK THE SEQUOIA SHOULD GET INCLUDED IN THIS IT IS THE SAME THING. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW MUCH MONEY OWNERS OF THESE SUVS HAVE PAID OUT BECAUSE OF THIS. I NOTICE THIS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER I PUT GAS IN. THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF UNTIL YOU TAKE IN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO THEN CHARGES YOU THE $578 OR MORE IT SIMPLY RIPPING THE CONSUMER OFF
I HAVE TO ADD MY VOICE TO THE CROWD. THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, AND ABS BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. LOSES POWER. TOYOTA WANTS $1500+ TO REPLACE A COMPUTER AND THEY DON'T GUARANTEE A FIX. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE ON THE ROAD AND SOMETIMES AFTER JUST STARTING IT UP IN THE DRIVEWAY. IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD FIX..
VSC TRAC, VSC OFF AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE YEARS AGO. SEARCHED AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. LIGHTS CAME AS VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
ABS AND TRAC LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 65 MPH. ALARM TONE STARTED, AND CAR SLOWED WITH A PULSATING BRAKING ACTION. AFTER A SHORT TIME ALARM STOPPED AND BRAKING ACTION STOPPED. VERY SCARY...AFRAID TO DRIVE NOW.
A RECALL THAT I FEEL IS WARRANTED FOR TOYOTA TO ATTEND TO WHICH IS VSC OFF/TRAC OFF AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALL ON. I HAVE COUNTLESSELY RESEARCHED WHY THIS HAPPENS AND SPENT A LOT OF MONEY TRYING TO FIX IT BUT STILL NO LUCK. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE. VSC TRACK SENSOR AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH IN THE CITY. I HAVE NOTICED IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS THAT WHEN I SLOW TO MAKE A TURN THE BREAKS LOCK UP AND GRIND, BUT NOT ALWAYS. THE SAFETY BREAK IS ALSO ON. I HAVE READ THAT WHEN THE VSC LIGHTS DO COME ON THAT YOU CANNOT GO OVER 50 MILES AN HOUR OR WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN TO 50 AND CANNOT GO ANY FASTER. I'M AFRAID OF THIS HAPPENING WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY.

RUST, RUST, RUST. I CAN SEE THROUGH THE LEFT SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL. IT'S EMBARRASSING WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING IS MISSING. HEY PART OF DOOR AND WHEEL WELL IS GONE. HATE THINKING ABOUT WHAT ELSE IS MISSING, BECAUSE IT RUSTED AWAY. ORIGINAL OWNER.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, IT CURRENTLY HAS 155,600 MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH TOYOTA AND THIS VEHICLE UNTIL MY RECENT INCIDENTS INVOLVING INABILITY TO STOP WHILE AT SLOW SPEEDS, FOLLOWED BY A LOUD NOISE AND SHAKING AND THREE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WHEN THIS OCCURS: BRAKE, VSC, AND TRAC CONTROL. AFTER READING THE MANY REPORTS, I REALIZE THAT THIS IS QUITE COMMON AND AM UPSET THAT TOYOTA HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT! I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT AS IT WAS SO FRIGHTENING THAT I WOULD NOT DRIVE IT. THE SENSORS WERE NO LONGER ON AND TOYOTA TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG (MY FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED BY THEM A FEW MONTHS PRIOR). IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER, THIS TIME I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND GOT THE LIGHTS TO GO OFF, THEN I DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO MY MECHANIC. HE FOUND THREE ERROR CODES ASSOCIATED WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. HE SAID IT'S EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE SO HE RESET THE SYSTEM AND WE DECIDED TO SEE IF THAT WORKS. NOW, A WEEK OR SO AFTER THE RESET, IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. AFTER READING ALL OF THE OTHER VERY SIMILAR REPORTS, I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR! PLEASE MAKE TOYOTA BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE TO THEIR CUSTOMER'S SAFETY! I FOUND REPORTS ON THIS DATING BACK TO 2004 AND I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL DONE ON THE 2003 MODELS.
TAKATA RECALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MY LOCAL TOYOTA HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS NOR CAN THEY TELL ME WHEN THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO. MY ANSWER IS ALWAYS, "THE PART IS ON BACKORDER". I HAVE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS: 1. ARE THERE SENSORS ON A 2004 MODEL 2. IS MY VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE WITH NO ONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT 3. DOES TOYOTA IN FACT HAVE A PRIORITY SYSTEM SET UP FOR OWNERS WHO LIVE IN HIGH MOISTURE AREAS. 4. IF VEHICLES CAN BE TRADED FROM DEALERSHIP TO DEALERSHIP WHY CAN'S PARTS? I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TWICE (CASE # 1604290026) WHO PUT ME IN CONTACT WITH DEALERSHIP CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHICH SIMPLY TRANSFERRED ME BACK TO THE PARTS DEPARTMENT, WHO AGAIN TOLD ME PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER, CALL BACK AGAIN. MY FIRST STEP WAS TO CALL THE TOYOTA HOT LINE FOR THE RECALL, CONFIRM DEALERSHIP HAD PART, AND SCHEDULE TO GET IT REPAIRED. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. SIMPLY PUT, IS MY VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE I HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO GET THE REPAIR ACCOMPLISHED.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO CONTACTED THE DEALER REGARDING THE CODES THAT APPEARED DURING THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER WAS UNSURE OF WHAT THE CODES INDICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,400. LAST WEEK, (3/17/16) MY NEIGHBOR WAS TAKING HER THREE CHILDREN TO SCHOOL IN HER 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. SHE WAS TRAVELING ON A NEW ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED ON DRIVER'S SIDE. SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD A FLAT TIRE SO SHE STEERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT APPEARS THE DRIVER'S SIDE, LOWER BALL JOINT FAILED (SEE PHOTOS). I CALLED HENDRICK TOYOTA OF APEX, NC AND TALKED WITH MR. JOHN SPECHT (919-335-1678). HE CHECKED THE VIN AND SAID THE LOWER BALL JOINTS HAD A RECALL AND WERE CHANGED ON AUG. 15, 2007. HE ALSO SUGGESTED I CONTACT TOYOTA TO REQUEST THEIR ASSISTANCE TO COVER THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE (CASE NO.[XXX]). HE ADVISED THE VEHICLE BE BROUGHT IN FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL TOO. VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME ON A DOLLY TO PREVENT ANY DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE HAS 215,444 MILES AND WAS NOT USED FOR OFF-ROAD DRIVING. THE VEHICLE RECENTLY PASSED STATE INSPECTION WITH NO PROBLEMS NOTED ABOUT THE FRONT END. IF THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE ALREADY REPLACED IN A RECALL (2007) WHAT DID THEY REPLACE THEM WITH, AND HOW DID THEY CORRECT THE PROBLEM? THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A DEADLY ACCIDENT AT HIGHER SPEED. TOOK MY 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA FOR SERVICE AT IRA TOYOTA OF DANVERS MASSACHUSETTS ON 9/13/2012. WAS NOTIFIED THAT A RECALL REGARDING FRAME RUST WAS ALSO AVAILABLE AND THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE INSPECTED. NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL AND THEY INFORMED ME IN PERSON WHILE AT SERVICE THAT THEY WILL COAT THE FRAME IN CRC COMPOUND. NEVER EVEN SAID IF IT WAS BAD ENOUGH (WHICH THE PHOTOS SHOW) THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THE FRAME. THEY DID REPLACE THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER DUE TO RUST. A FEW YEARS PRIOR TO 2012, PAYED 950$ AT A LOCAL BODY SHOP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE COATED IN AN ANTI RUST PROTECTION, STILL DID NOT HELP. HAVE HAD A HUGE ISSUE WITH RUST DEVELOPMENT SINCE BUYING THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM IRA TOYOTA OF DANVERS IN 2004. SINCE THE CRC WAS DONE, IT HAS CHIPPED AWAY, RUST IS STILL VERY PREVALENT ON FRAME/ALL OVER THE VEHICLE. HAVE LOST MY FRONT SKID PLATE WHILE TRAVELING DUE TO RUST, EXHAUST, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, MULTIPLE O2 SENSORS, HEAT SHIELD, BACKING PLATE, FRONT CALIPER, REAR GATE HINGES, ETC. OPENED UP A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE. SAID THAT THEY CAN DO NOTHING AND THE CRC ISN'T NECESSARILY GOING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, ALL OTHER ISSUES MUST BE DEALT WITH DIRECTLY BY THE OWNER. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN VEHICLE.

TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE AROUND JUNE OR JULY OF THIS YEAR. I SCHEDULED THE REPAIR WITH OUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY GAVE US THE DATE TO BRING IT IN. MY WIFE TOOK OFF FROM WORK AND TOOK THE CAR AND THEN THEY DID NOT HAVE THE REPAIR PARTS IN STOCK AND SAID WE WOULD HAVE TO RESCHEDULE. I AM OFF WORK FOR THE REST OF YEAR FOR HOLIDAYS SO THIS MORNING I CALLED TO RESCHEDULE AND NOW THEY TELL ME THEY ONLY HAVE ONE TECH WHO CAN DO THE REPAIR AND HE IS OFF UNTIL JAN 15TH. NOW IF THIS IS AN URGENT SAFETY RECALL AND NO ONE SHOULD RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, PLEASE EXPLAIN TO THE TOYOTA DEALERS WHAT URGENT SAFETY RECALL MEANS.

FRAME RUST MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. DEALERSHIP SAYS LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN C0D EXPIRED. RECORD OF VEHICLE SHOWS NO INSPECTION OF VEHICLE THROUGHOUT NUMEROUS SERVICE VISITS TO DEALERSHIPS BETWEEN 2004 AND NOW. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT TELL ME TIMEFRAME OF CAMPAIGN.
ABS/ TRAC/SKID LIGHT COME ON AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND BRAKES JERK YOU BACK AND FORTH ON ROAD. IF SOMEONE WERE NEXT TO YOU, YOU WOULD HIT THEM. SUV MAKE ABS GRINDING SOUND WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE TRUCK ACTS LIKE IT IS IN NUTURAL, WONT MOVE. IF YOU TURN SUV ON OFF A FEW TIMES,ITS START ACTING NORMAL AGAIN. MY TEEN AGE DAUGHTER WAS JURKED OF ROAD INTO GRASS 2TIMES THIS MTH. BOUGHT SUV NEW.

OUR SITUATION IS VIRTUALLY THE SAME AS MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS IN YOUR SYSTEM. NAMELY THAT TOYOTA HAD OUR DEALER APPLY UNDERCOAT TO THE FRAME OF OUR 2004 SEQUOIA IN JULY OF 2013. ON SEPT. 5 THIS YEAR WENT TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AND AFTER WAITING A FEW HOURS WAS INFORMED THEY DID NOT PERFORM THE SERVICE AS THE FRAME WAS SO BAD. KNOWING THAT A NEIGHBOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TOYOTA BOUGHT IT BACK I ASKED ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD "THAT PROGRAM WAS OVER" THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND UPON CALLING TOYOTA USA WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS ON THE NHTS WEBSITE. WHY ISN'T ANYTHING BEING DONE ABOUT THIS?

I SOLD THE AUTOMOBILE LISTED ABOVE ON 08/13/15 TO AN INDIVIDUAL AND REALIZED AFTER THAT I DID NOT REMOVE THE PLATE FROM THE CAR. BECAUSE I LIVE IN NC, I WILL HAVE TO RETURN THE PLATES BEFORE CANCELING THE INSURANCE. THE CURRENT OWNER IS DRIVING UNDER MY REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE.
MY 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WAS THE SUBJECT OF A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN, NO. TC-13-013, FOR ABNORMAL FRAME CORROSION. A TOYOTA DEALER APPLIED A CORROSION RESISTANT COMPOUND (CRC) TO THE FRAME AND UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON MARCH 27, 2014. I HAD MY CAR SERVICED IN AUGUST 2015 AND DISCOVERED THAT LARGE PARTS OF THE FRAME ARE SIGNIFICANTLY CORRODED, WITH MUCH OF THE CRC NO LONGER PRESENT ON THE FRAME. TOYOTA RESPONDED TO MY COMPLAINT ON AUGUST 21, 2015 BY STATING THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE CRC IS ONE YEAR AND THAT IT WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, REAPPLICATION OF THE CRC OR REPLACEMENT OF THE FRAME. THE FRAME CORROSION IS DOCUMENTED IN PHOTOGRAPHS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND GAVE THE CONTACT A REFERENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
JULY 2015 I RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE AIRBAG RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I HAVE CALLED THE INFORMATION # X2 ONLY TO BE TOLD THIS RECALL WILL BE MANAGED BY ZONES. THERE IS NO PLAN FOR MY ZONE APPARENTLY AND NO ONE AT TOYOTA CAN TELL ME WHAT ZONE I AM IN AND WHEN THAT ZONE WILL RECEIVE ATTENTION. IN ADDITION, ALTHOUGH THEY OFFER YOU AN ALTERNATIVE VEHICLE THEY DO NOT OFFER YOU A COMPARABLE VEHICLE. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE THAT I CAN'T FIT EVEYONE IN, NO PLAN TO FIX MY VEHICLE AND NO WORKABLE REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. TO ADD TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS THERE IS NO GUARANTEE BY VEHICLE WILL GET FIXED WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR, MUCH LESS BE AVAILABLE AND SAFE FOR THE WINTER MONTHS WHEN ICE AND SNOW IN MN OFTEN REQUIRE A 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE FOR THE 50 MILE ROUND TRIP TO WORK.
I HAVE HAD A SAFETY RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. FIRST NOTIFICATION CAME IN JULY. 6-7 WEEKS LATER STILL WAITING. CONTACTED TOYOTA DIRECTLY VIA THE NUMBER PROVIDED. THEIR ONLY COMMENT IS THAT THEY HAVE DONE THEIR PART BY ALERTING ME TO THE SAFETY ISSUE AND WHEN THE "PART COMES THE PART COMES." THEY HAD NO CONCERN FOR THE FACT THAT THIS MEANS I HAVE TO DRIVE TWO VEHICLES TO GET MY FAMILY ANYWHERE, ALTHOUGH THEY DID ENCOURAGE ME TO GO RENT A VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL THE PARTS COME IN. REALLY? AN INDEFINITE RENTAL COST FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT? I THINK TOYOTAS ARE GREAT BECAUSE THEY LAST AND LAST, HOWEVER I THINK TOYOTA CORP IS THE WORST WHEN IT COMES TO DEALING WITH THINGS THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR.
