VSC, VSC TRAC OFF, AND BRAKE LIGHT INDICATORS COME ON AND OFF AT WILL. TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER SAID THAT THERE IS A SKID CONTROL ECU MALFUNCTION. FIXING COSTS~$1100. JUST NOTICED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED A LOT ON ONLINE FORUMS AND ON THIS WEBSITE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AND GRADUALLY PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY 2004 SEQUOIA SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY STOPS WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS OR FREEWAY AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35 TO 55 MPH. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE ABRUPT AND UNEXPECTEDLY STOP, THE BRAKES APPEAR TO REMAINED ENGAGED (VEHICLE IS STOPPED) MOMENTARILY (FOR A FEW SECONDS); ALTHOUGH, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NO LONGER DEPRESSED. IN ORDER TO GET THE SUV MOVING FORWARD AGAIN, ONE MUST PRESS THE GAS PEDAL (MORE THAN USUAL), BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO HESITATE OR BE STUCK/STOPPED. BECAUSE OF THE UNUSUALLY HIGH GAS PEDAL REQUIREMENT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY/DANGEROUSLY LUNGES FORWARD. THIS HOLE UNEXPECTED, ABRUPT STOPPING AND ABRUPT RAPID FORWARD PROCESS IS QUITE UNSETTLING AND SCARY. WE'RE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THIS 2004 SEQUOIA AND THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED AND INSPECTED 2 TO 4 TIMES PER YEAR BY TOYOTA DEALERS IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF. BASED ON THE COMMONALITY AND HIGH INCIDENCE OF THIS ANOMALY ON THESE VEHICLES, TOYOTA SHOULD VOLUNTARILY OR MANDATORILY TAKE SWIFT CORRECTIVE ACTION. *TR
WHILE DECELERATING TOWARDS AN INTERSECTION THAT I HAD TO STOP AT VSC DASH INDICATOR LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT, & TRAC LIGHT ALL CAME ON. THEN, AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL I HEARD DEEP CRUNCHING NOISES FROM THE BRAKING SYSTEM (SOUNDED LIKE FRONT END). THERE WAS ALSO LOUD "CLANKING" NOISES, AS IF SOMETHING WAS BANGING AROUND THE INSIDE OF THE RIM OR BRAKE ROTOR. ALL THE NOISES WERE ALSO PHYSICALLY FELT ON MY BRAKING FOOT AT THE SAME TIME THEY SOUNDED. MY FOOT WAS BEING DROPPED AND PUSHED NOTICEABLY BY THE BRAKE PEDAL. I ALMOST REAR-ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE THE BRAKING POWER FROM FLUCTUATING INDEPENDENTLY FROM STRONG TO ALMOST NONE WITHIN A MATTER OF A FEW SECONDS. THE SAME DASH WARNING LIGHTS HAVE BEEN CONTINUING TO TURN ON FOR THE LAST 5 OR 6 WEEKS (SOMETIMES ALL OF THEM, SOMETIMES ONE AT A TIME), BUT THE PHYSICAL BRAKING ISSUE HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN TODAY 9-11-13. I WAS ON A BACK STREET SO I TRIED TO VIDEO IT WITH MY PHONE BUT COULDN'T GET THE CAMERA SET TO VIDEO IN TIME; AND IT STOPPED AFTER OCCURRING AT THREE DIFFERENT BRAKING ATTEMPTS. THE CAR FLUCTUATED ITS WAY TO A STOP WITH THE SAME CRUNCHING NOISES (NO CLANKING) THIS TIME. THE PRESSURE FULLY CHANGED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE ISSUE TOOK PLACE AND I HAD LITTLE CONTROL OF EXACTLY WHEN BRAKING WOULD HAPPEN. HAVE YOU SEEN THE AMOUNT OF TIMES THIS IS HAPPENING? ARE YOU READING THESE THREADS? I'M CONCERNED TO TAKE MY KIDS IN THE CAR. I'M CONCERNED IN LETTING MY LESS EXPERIENCED 18 YEAR OLD DRIVE IT AS USUAL. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE CLUELESS AND SAID THAT WAS PART IF THE WAY THE CAR KEPT ME SAFE ON WET ROADS. NEITHER INCIDENT OCCUR ON WET ROADS. I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR 25 YEARS; I DID NOT HAVE CONTROL OF THE BRAKING IN MY VEHICLE TWO TIMES IN LAST 6 WEEKS DUE TO A VEHICLE SYSTEM GOING HAYWIRE! DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD! MY VSC, VSC TRAC OFF, AND BRAKE LIGHT INDICATORS ARE STAYING ON AND WON'T TURN OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ADDITIONALLY THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE LIFTGATE HANDLE BROKE AND WAS REPLACED WITH AN ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT PLASTIC PART. ACCORDING TO OTHER'S COMPLAINTS, I EXPECT IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN VERY SOON. THEN THE HANDLE STOPPED OPENING THE LIFTGATE ALTOGETHER. I FINALLY GOT THE GATE OPEN AND REPLACED THE PULL CABLE BUT IT DID NO GOOD. ONCE WHILE DRIVING, THE GATE OPENED BY ITSELF AND LIFTED UP WHEN I WENT OVER A SMALL BUMP. I CAN'T GET THE GATE OPEN IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY OR TO ACCESS THE SPARE TIRE AND SOMETIMES IT OPENS BY ITSELF. CERTAINLY THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD ADDRESS. *TR
I RECEIVED A "LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN" NOTICE REGARDING CORROSION-RESISTANT COMPOUND APPLICATION TO BE APPLIED TO MY 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER AND WAS GIVEN A LOANER CAR FOR THE 4 DAYS THEY HAD MY VEHICLE, WHICH I WAS THANKFUL FOR. THEY SAID MY SEQUOIA'S FRAME WAS NOT RUSTED THROUGH AND APPLIED A VERY STICKY, MESSY , SHINY TAR-LIKE SUBSTANCE THAT NOW 6 DAYS LATER IS STILL NOT DRY. TOYOTA DEALER ALSO TOLD ME I NEEDED ABOUT $5000 IN REPAIRS (WHICH I BROUGHT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND FIXED FOR $380), BUT THAT'S NOT WHY I AM WRITING. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILYS SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE AFTER READING HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SEQUOIA ON THE MANY TOYOTA FORUM WEBSITES AVAILABLE. I ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT ARE DISCUSSED IN THE FORUMS INCLUDING EXCESSIVE RUST INSIDE THE TAILGATE CAUSING THE TAILGATE WINDOW TO NOT OPERATE AND ALSO RUST SO BAD WE CAN'T EVEN USE THE HITCH ON OUR VEHICLE WHICH WAS THE MAIN REASON WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TO BEGIN WITH. SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY MAY ALLOW ROLLAWAY. I INITIALLY WAS WONDERING AND SECOND GUESSING MYSELF BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEVER HAPPENED TO ME WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE SO I DID FIND IT STRANGE UNTIL I SAW THIS RECALL. I DO THINK THE SEQUOIA HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE SIENNA BECAUSE TWICE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ONCE IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE SECOND TIME WAS AT A GAS STATION. I HAD TO JUMP IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT STARTED TO ROLL BACK ALMOST 2 MINS AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED SOME DAMAGE TO MY DOOR WHILE I WAS TRYING TO JUMP BACK INTO THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE. I KNOW THE CAR MFG DO NOT WANT TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS BECAUSE IT COSTS THEM MILLIONS OF DOLLARS BUT I THINK PEOPLE LIVES ARE WORTH MUCH MORE. THEY NEED TO OWN UP BEFORE IT COSTS THEM MORE. *TR
CORNERING AT ABOUT 65 OR SO ON HIGHWAY. SENSORS WENT OFF, TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE, SHAKY STEERING. *TR
DRIVING TO A STOP WHEN VSC LIGHTS, ABS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT,TRAC OFF DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHTS TURNED ON. WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED, EXPERIENCED A JUMPING. ALREADY HAD BRAKES REPLACED, TIRES ROTATED AND ALIGNMENT DONE. CONTACTED AUTO SERVICE TECHNICIAN AND WAS TOLD AFTER A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED THAT ISSUE IS DUE TO A FAULTY COMPUTER SYSTEM WITH THE ABS SYSTEM HOW THE COMPUTER READS THE CAR PERFORMANCE. WAS TOLD THAT ONLY A TOYOTA DEALER WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE COMPUTER SYSTEM WHICH IS COSTLY. THE WARNING LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF RANDOMLY AS IF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING. *TR
MY BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUE TO COME ON AND WILL REMAIN ON UNTIL I TURN OFF THE SUV. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEAL WHICH I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY SUPPOSED TO HAVE RESET IT, HOWEVER, IT CAME BACK ON A WEEK LATER I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY KEPT IT ALL DAY TO FIX IT. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT WAS CAUSING THE LIGHT TO COME ON AFTER KEEPING THE VEHICLE ALL DAY. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER COSBY BODY SHOP AND HE CHECKED THE SUV BUT COULD NOT SEE WHAT WAS WRONG SINCE THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. THE BRAKES DID NOT SHOW ENOUGHT SINIFICANT WARE OR TARE AND THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID IN THE BRAKE FLUID CLYDER HE DID NOT NEED TO ADD ANY. I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT COMES ON AGAIN AND I DID. HE CHECKED AND DISCOVERED THAT IT MAYBE THE BRAKE SINCER. NOW, I AM CALLING TOYATO FOR ASSISTANCE TO SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN THE VSC TRAC, SLIP INDICATOR SKID, AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP LIGHTS CAME ON AND HAVE REMAINED ON. TODAY THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON AND REMAINED ON. CONCERNED WITH THE LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER 2004 OWNERS AND TOYOTA LACK OF INTEREST TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM IN TIMELY AND FAIR MANNER. IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR MANY YEARS, CHANGING OWNERS MANY EXPENSIVE REPAIR BILLS AND VEHICLES REMAIN UNFIXED. TOYOTA OWNERS RELYING ON TOYOTA TO PROVIDE A QUALITY PRODUCT AND STAND BEHIND THE THAT PRODUCT WHEN A PROBLEM LIKE THIS OCCURS. *TR
UPON EXITING THE FREEWAY I WAS ON A RIGHT-TURNING OFF-RAMP WHEN I HEARD BEEPING AND A CRUNCHING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. IT SOUNDED AS IF SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ONCE I WAS OFF THE FREEWAY, I PULLED OVER AND THE WARNING LIGHTS HAD GONE OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES SINCE THEN, HOWEVER IT'S ONLY BEEN THE BEEPING, NOT THE LOUD CRUNCHING NOISE. IN SEARCHING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT THE 2003'S WERE RECALLED FOR. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT TOYOTA SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THE 2004'S AS WELL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL VIBRATING SENSATION. THE ABS AND THE VSC WARNING LIGHTS WERE ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE WORN AND LEAKING BRAKE FLUID, WHICH ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 151,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF MY 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA VEHICLE. I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHT INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON MY DASHBOARD. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT MY EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT COMPLETELY DISENGAGED. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CHECKED. THE BRAKE WAS OFF. I STARTED MY CAR AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS STILL ILLUMINATED BUT IT EVENTUALLY TURNED OFF SO I ASSUMED THAT MY EMERGENCY BRAKE MAY HAVE BEEN SLIGHTLY ENGAGED WHEN I WAS DRIVING. A FEW DAYS LATER THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON MY DASHBOARD, AGAIN. IT WENT OFF BY ITSELF BUT IT INTERMITTENTLY WENT ON AND OFF OVER A COUPLE WEEKS TIME. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA CARLSBAD AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THE TROUBLE CODES CAME BACK AS P1247 AND P1223. THESE CODES INDICATED THAT THE ABS SKID CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED WHICH CAUSED MY ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM TO COMPLETELY STOP WORKING. I HAD A NEW ABS SKID CONTROL COMPUTER INSTALLED AT A COST OF $1,035.00. THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE OCCURRED WITH ONLY 39,500 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. I WENT ON LINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL 2003, 2004 AND 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA VEHICLES THAT HAD TO HAVE THE ABS SYSTEM REPLACED. I'M HOPING THAT TOYOTA WILL MANDATE A RECALL TO HAVE THE 2003,2004 AND 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA'S ABS SYSTEMS CHECKED AND REPLACE ANY THAT ARE MALFUNCTIONING. *TR

(706) 336-8450) AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE WITH THE VEHICLE UNTIL I TRIED TO SWITCH IT OUT IN CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA'S AIRPORT LOCATION ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR COMPANY (I ALSO NOTICED A SCRATCH ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT I HAD NOT SEEN NOR EXPERIENCED ANYTHING HITTING ONCE I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK) . THEY HAD SWITCHED ME INTO A JEEP WHICH WAS EMMITING SOME TYPE OF CHEMICAL THAT MAKES YOU CHOKE AND BLEED IF YOU'RE PREGNANT (I'M PREGNANT). SO I SWITCHED BACK TO THE VAN THAT I HAD BEFORE BUT THIS VEHICLE STARTED DOING THE SAME. MY VEHICLE HAS NOW SINCE BEEN WRECKED (NOV. 2, 2012) AND SITS AT LANCE TOWING COMPANY IN LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AS I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN TRANSFER TRUCKS PASS BY MY THEY BLOW THEIR PIPES WHICH GIVE OFF THE SAME EFFECT BUT STRONGER IF YOU'RE TRYING TO OPEN THE WINDOWS TO GET FRESH AIR. I HAVE NOW HAD TO RESORT TO WEARING A MASK TO PROTECT MY HEALTH AND THE HEALTH OF MY UNBORN CHILD. I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT AND THAT IT IS EXTREMELY INTENTIONAL AS I HAVE HAD TO REPORT THE GOVERNOR OF GEORGIA, NATHAN DEAL, OF SUSPECTED CORRUPTION. IT IS ALSO MY BELIEF THAT THIS ACTION IS ALSO EXTENUATED BY MY EX, KIRK CHRISTIAN OF KINGSTON JAMAICA, AND THAT HE MAY BE PROVIDING SUCH CHEMICALS TO INCREASE THE CHANCES OF MY HAVING A MISCARRIAGE WITH MY SOON TO BE EX HUSBAND, WILLIAM EDWARD ROYSTON. EX HUSBAND WILLIAM ROYSTON MAY ALSO BE INVOLVED IN THE SCHEME AS HE HAS LAW ENFORCEMENT AND GOVERNMENT CONNECTIONS. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MAUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I WAS MAKING MAINTENANCE FOR MY VEHICLE AND WHILE UNDER THE CAR I SPOTTED THE FRAME IS COVERED BY EXCESSIVE RUST MOSTLY ON JOINT AREAS. I HAVE READ TOYOTA FORUMS TODAY AND FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE FRAME CORROSION IS NOT ONLY MINE. ALSO, I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALLS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. TOYOTA MUST TAKE AN ACTION TO MAKE THOSE SEQUOIAS MORE SAVED TO DRIVE. AT LEAST, I AM EXPECTING THEM TO ISSUE A RECALL AND COVER THE FRAME WITH ANTI-RUST MATERIALS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND EXHIBITED A LOUD NOISE BEFORE STALLING. THE TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, LOCATING THE FAILURE AT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, THE ECU, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND THE ABS CONTROL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,761.

I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THE FOLLOWING CODES: C1203, C1223, AND C1247. RECOMMENDED BRAKE BOOSTER AND SKID CONTROL COMPUTER BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $2K. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THIS REPEATED PROBLEM AND HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THE 2004 ALTHOUGH THEY DID ON THE 03. *TR
REAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. REAR WINDOW ALSO WILL NOT WORK. I FIND THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AS SOMEONE COULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE IF THERE WAS A CRASH. ALSO CAN NOT ACCESS SPARE TIRE. 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA OCCASIONALLY THE BRAKE LIGHT AND VSC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL) LIGHTS COME ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ABS SYSTEM PHYSICALLY MALFUNCTIONS AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES A UNCONTROLLABLE HAZARD. THE TOYOTA DEALER SAID THE ISSUE IS A INTERNAL MALFUNCTION IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER/MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY AS WELL AS THE SKID CONTROL ECU. (THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIR IS $2657.00). I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THE DEALER ADMITTED KNOWLEDGE OF THIS HAZARD AND SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT TOYOTA IS NOT CORRECTING THE ISSUE OR OFFERING ANY ASSISTANCE IN CORRECTING THIS HAZARD. THESE VEHICLES ARE UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT THE LUBRICANT LEAKED OUT. I UNDERSTAND TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS A COMMON PROBLEM ALONG WITH THE FRAME RUSTING. IF I HAD NOT NOTICED THE OIL PUDDLE ON THE GROUND I WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL GEARS SEIZED. NEED I SAY MORE? THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FOUR INCH HOLE IN THE FRAME. THE HOLE WAS THE RESULT OF CORROSION. THE DEALER STATED THAT IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 255,000.
THE VEHICLE SKID CONTROL LIGHT WOULD FLASH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE SOMETIMES DURING LEFT TURNS AND IN SLOW TRAFFIC, PAUSING A FEW SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING AGAIN. THIS ACTION SEEMS TO BE HAZARDOUS POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO TOYOTA DEALER. MY TOYOTA SEQUOIA SR5 IS SHOWING SOME LIGHTS IN DASHBOARD. FIRST IT WAS THE VSC SOLID LIGHT COMING ON THEN OFF ON IT OWN, AFTER SOME MONTHS, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON THEN OFF THEN SOLID ON, I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER TO GET IT CHECK OUT, AND THEY COULDN`T FIND WHAT IS MAKING THE AIRBAGS LIGHT TO COME ON. MORE RECENTLY, I STARTED HAVING A CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM AS WELL. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL SOMETIMES WORK AND ALSO SOME OTHER TIME REFUSE TO WORK UNLESS YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND THEN IT WILL SOMETIMES KICK -IN. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE CAR WILL LOOSE POWER WHILE SIMPLY DRIVING IT, WHEN IT DOES SO, THE SYSTEM WILL STILL BE RUNNING BUT SIMPLY WILL GET WEAK NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS YOU`RE GIVING TO THE PEDAL. WAS DRIVING MY 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA AT 35-40MPHIN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, A DROP IN THE FRONT LEFT OF THE TRUCK AND THE SOUND OF METAL SCRAPPING THE PAVEMENT. I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND HIT THE BRAKES TO AVOID GOING OVER THE MEDIAN INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I THEN SKIDDED ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND HIT A CAR TRYING TO ENTER THE PARKWAY. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE WITH THE POLICE OFFICER IT LOOKED AS IF THE WHEEL AND AXLE WERE RIPPED FRON THE TRUCK. UNFORTUNATELY THE SEQUOIA GAVE ME NO INDICATIONS OF ANYTHING GOING WRONG OR I WOULD HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP. *TR

MY VSC ON OFF/VSC TRACTION LIGHT AND ENGINE CHECK CAME ON AS PER MANY OF THE REPORTS YOU FIND POSTED. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER THEY FOUND 4 CODES COMING UP SPECIFIC TO THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED THAT BANK 2 SENSOR 1 AND THE SKID CONTROL COMPUTER AND THE ENGINE CONTROL COMPUTER (ECC) REQUIRED REPLACING. ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS DURING LOW SPEED LEFT TURNS MY 2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAS SHUTTERED AND STRUGGLED TO STAY ON THE ROAD, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND BEEPS, AND BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATES. VEHICLE ALSO SHUTTERS WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. I TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC TO REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER, BECAUSE OF TOYOTA'S HIGH PRICE TO REPLACE. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUE WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND SUGGESTED IT WAS AN ISSUE CALL A "LOW SPEED DROP" AND WAS PROBABLY RELATED TO THE ABS SYSTEM OR TRAC CONTROL. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND ASKED WHAT TYPE OF DIAGNOSTICS WERE PERFORMED AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HOOK UP A COMPUTER WHICH PRODUCED A CODE RELATED TO THE MASTER CYLINDER. THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE COMPUTER GAVE THEM THEMASTER CYLINDER CODE AND DID NOT OFFER TO REINSPECT VEHICLE TO DETERMINE ACTUAL CAUSE. *TR
RIGHT AFTER I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE (USED) THE VSC TRAC, TRAC OFF, BRAKE LIGHTS & CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON RANDOMLY. TOYOTA ENDED UP REPLACING THE SKID COMPUTER. IT HAS BEEN JUST OVER A YEAR AND IT IS NOW DOING THE SAME THING. IT LOOSES TRACTION AND WON'T ACCELERATE. TOYOTA TOLD ME ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.
