WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS, AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE "BRAKE" LIGHT, "VSC TRAC" LIGHT, AND "TRAC OFF" LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A TERRIBLE GRINDING SOUND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP. IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP BUT LUCKILY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME. THE "BRAKE" LIGHT HAS CONTINUED TO COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK SINCE MAY OF 2015 AND THE OTHER TWO LIGHTS STILL COME ON OCCASIONALLY. IN FACT, ON MY 800 FOOT DRIVE BACK FROM PICKING UP MY LUNCH TODAY, THE "BRAKE" LIGHT WAS ON. EACH TIME THE OTHER 2 COME ON, IT CAUSES THE BREAKS TO GRIND AND IT IS VERY HARD TO STOP. THERE WAS JUST OVER 120,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AT PURCHASE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS FORUMS ONLINE STATING ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL, 2004, AND 2003 MODELS FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO DO A RECALL AND EXPECTS CUSTOMERS TO PAY FOR SOMETHING IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE THROUGHOUT THESE PARTICULAR MODELS. I THINK SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR!!!
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH the rear of the vehicle lowered and the rear of the vehicle started to bounce, and the suspension warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the suspension system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was not available.
MY WIFE TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR
OUR TWO YEAR OLD IS IN A PROPERLY SECURED REAR-FACING BRITAX TODDLER CAR SEAT. SHE IS IN THE SECOND ROW ON THE DRIVER SIDE. AS WE WERE DRIVING OUR SIX YEAR OLD ALERTED US TO HER DISTRESS. SHE HAD MANAGED TO GRAB THE SEAT BELT FOR THE MIDDLE SIT (SECOND ROW) AND WRAPPED IT AROUND HER NECK. SHE WAS STRUGGLING TO GET OUT BUT WHEN SHE PULLED IT TO HER, SHE PULLED IT ALL THE WAY OUT SO THE MORE SHE STRUGGLED, THE TIGHTER THE SEAT BELT AROUND HER NECK GOT. HAD OUR SIX YEAR OLD NOT ALERTED US, THIS COULD'VE ENDED TERRIBLY. WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, GOT HER UNBUCKLED FROM HER CAR SEAT TO PULL HER CLOSER TO THE SEAT BELT FOR ENOUGH SLACK TO GET HER HEAD AND NECK OUT OF THE STRANGLING OF THE SEAT BELT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDENT, OUR TWO YEAR OLD CLUNG TIGHTLY TO MOM AND CRIED WITH RED MARKS AROUND HER NECK. SHE WAS SCARED TO GET BACK IN THE CAR. DAD TOOK THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT AND WRAPPED IT AROUND A HEAD REST TIGHTLY TO GET IT OUT OF THE TODDLERS REACH. *TR
2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA - FOLLOWING GAUGE LIGHTS CAME ON: CHECK ENGINE, VTRAC. VEHICLE MADE DID NOT SOUND RIGHT WHILE IDLING, AND WAS NOT ACCELERATING CORRECTLY (IN LIMP MODE). TOOK TO MECHANIC. THE AIR PUMP BROKE APART AND WENT INTO THE INDUCTION SYSTEM. VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THIS IS KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL AND YEAR BUT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL? *TR
I OWN A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH EXCESSIVE FRAME RUST. I CALLED TOYOTA ABOUT A POSSIBLE RECALL AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THAT ISSUE ON THAT PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THE ISSUE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE SEVERAL OF THE SAME ISSUES ON THIS SITE WHEN THEY SEEMED SURPRISED BY MY CALL. I HAVE NOTICED SURFACE RUST FOR YEARS BUT DURING LAST SAFETY INSPECTION WAS NOTIFIED THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE FRAME. *TR

AFTER 2007 RECALL OF BALL JOINTS, TOYOTA DEALER STATED BALL JOINTS NEED REPLACING ONCE AGAIN. *TR
WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP, MY SEQUOIA PERIODICALLY GRINDS WHEN BRAKING AND THE VSC SENSOR, ABS SENSOR AND TRAC SENSOR LIGHT TURN ON AND STAY ON. *TR
VEHICLE HAD NEW FRONT SHOCKS PUT ON AS FRONT SHOCKS WERE RUSTED AND SEIZED, AFTER INSPECTION OF VEHICLE, TECHNICIAN TOLD US FRAME OF THE CAR WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND HAD HOLES IN IT. HE FELT IT WAS VERY UNSAFE AS SPARE TIRE COULD FALL OFF AND SUV MAY NOT TAKE IMPACT FROM A CRASH CORRECTLY. WE PHONED TOYOTA DIRECTLY AND WE ASKED FOR A TECHNICIAN TO COME OVER TO OUR DEALER TO VIEW THE SUV. WE WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO THAT, AND WE HAD TO GO TO DEALER AND HAVE DEALER LOOK AT IT. DEALER LOOKED AT IT AND TOOK PICTURES AND ADVISED US THAT IS IN POOR CONDITION. THEY ARE SENDING THAT INFORMATION OVER TO TOYOTA. TOYOTA SHOULD TAKE THIS MUCH MORE SERIOUSLY AS THEY HAVE HAD RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL IN MY CAR AND I BOUGHT THIS NEW AND PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AS THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
VSC VSC TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING POORLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR INJECTION CONTROL DRIVERS AND THEN ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE OFF. THE FOLLOWING DAY ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE BACK ON AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING POORLY AGAIN. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT ANOTHER REPAIR WAS NEEDED NOW. THE AIR PUMP SET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $1,700.00. THOUSANDS OF SEQUOIA OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM BUT TOYOTA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.
AS I STARTED DRIVING THE CAR MY VSC OFF VSC TRAC AND BRAKE LIGHT WHEN ON WHEN I TRIED TO BRAKE IT MADE A TERRIBLE SOUND AS I CONTINUED TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE IT MADE A HSSSSSSING SOUND LIKE AIR WAS COMING OUT I GOT HOME AND GOOGLED THE PROBLEM I GUESS IM NOT THE ONLY ONE TOYOTA IS AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT FIX 2003 WAS FIX BUT THE REST AREN'T I DID CALL TOYOTA AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND THE TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WAS UP TO ME AND MY RESPONSIBILITY IF ITS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND VERY DANGEROUS TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL I KNOW HAVE IT WITH AN EXPERIENCE MECHANIC AND WILL HOPEFULLY GET RESULTS SOON. *TR
LETTER FROM SENATOR NELSON ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA AIR BAG RECALL. *SMD THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE AIR BAGS FOR HIS MAKE AND MODEL, WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND HAD TO BE MANUFACTURED. NO TIME WAS GIVEN, AS TO WHEN THE AIR BAGS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. *JB
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM LOW SPEED OR STOPS THE SEQUOIA ACTIVATES THE VSC AND THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AND REFUSES TO ACCELERATE. HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY BUT NOT CONSISTENTLY ENOUGH TO KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT IT. THE TRACTION CONTROL/SKID CONTROL LIGHT ACTIVATES FOR AROUND 5 SECONDS AND THEN VEHICLE RETURNS TO NORMAL OPERATION. IT CAN BE NERVERACKING. FROM ALL MY INVESTIGATION IT SEEMS IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEMS THAT LED TO THE 2003 SEQUOIA RECALL. I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. AGAIN FROM MY RESEARCH THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONG MANY MODEL YEARS OF SEQUOIAS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND STARTED TO JERK WHEN USING THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ABS, VSC TRACT, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIRBAG AS PART OF THE LARGE RECALL NOTICE. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR A REPLACEMENT PART AND THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE PART AT THE TIME. IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS AND STILL NO PART OR ANY IDEA WHEN ONE WILL BE AVAILABLE. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE THAT IS LIMITED IN ITS USE AND CAN NOT SELL, DUE TO THE LIABILITY OF THE NEW OWNER NOT FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDATION TO NOT USE THE PASSENGER SEAT. SEEMS LIKE IF A RECALL IS INITIATED THERE SHOULD BE A TIMELY RESOLUTION. *TR

VSC TRAC, ABS AND BRAKE ALERTS LIGHT UP ON DASH BOARD, NOISE WHEN VEHICLE IS INITIALLY TURNED ON, THE NOISE DISAPPEARS AFTER A FEW MINUTES BUT THE ALERTS STAY ON. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOSES POWER (BUT THE ENGINE KEEPS RUNNING, JUST NO POWER TO ACCELERATE) IF I MAKE A QUICK TURN, LOSS OF POWER LASTS FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN TURNS BACK ON. *TR
AT SLOW SPEEDS ON CLEAN, DRY PAVEMENT AND NORMAL BRAKING CONDITIONS ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH WILL ILLUMINATE, THE SKID/TRACTION CONTROL WILL START BEEPING AND THE ABS WILL ENGAGE FOR NO APPARENT REASON 0 WHILE ALSO MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. I'VE HAD THE 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA FOR 4 DAYS NOW WE PURCHASED IT OVER THE WEEKEND DROVE IT HOME AND IT'S BEEN FINE, ALL THE SUDDEN THIS MORNING THE TRAC OFF LIGHT IS ON AND VBC OR VSC LIGHT IS ON I CAN'T REMEMBER THE SPECIFIC LETTERS, THERE'S NOW A LOUDER NOISE WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD LIKE A ROAR COMING FROM THE TIRES AND THE VEHICLE SEEMS HARDER TO STOP, I CALLED TOYOTA THERE ARE STILL NO RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE BUT AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS IT SOUNDS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE, WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED? *TR
PROBLEM: BRAKES DISENGAGE OR AS I'VE BEEN TOLD THE ABS SYSTEM IS ENGAGING WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. THE FRONT END OF MY CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT DROPPING OUT AND I'M HEARING A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THIS IS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. HAD BRAKES SERVICED TWICE IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. REPLACED PADS, TURNED ROTORS. CHANGED BRAKE FLUID. HAD SENSORS CHECKED. CHECKED BY THE DEALER AS WELL AS ANOTHER BRAKE SHOP(FIRESTONE). THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY COMPUTER CODES TO DEFINITELY SAY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. ONLY RECOMMENDED REPLACING A COMPUTER PART. I TOLD THEM I WASN'T SPENDING OVER $1000 ON A RECOMMENDATION. EVEN CARRIED IT TO FIRESTONE, SINCE THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT WAS CLOSED YESTERDAY EVENING AT 6:45PM WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. DIDN'T TURN OFF THE CAR WITH THE "BRAKE", "VCS" AND ANOTHER YELLOW LIGHT ON AND THEY REALLY DIDN'T SEE ANY CODES THAT STOOD OUT. VERY FRUSTRATING AND CONCERNING WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS RIDING IN THIS CAR!!!! *TR
WHEN I MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN MY TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN MOTOR DIES, WHEEL LOCKS. FOR A BOUT 4-9 SECONDS AND THEN POWERS ITSELF BACK UP WITHOUT MY CONTROL. ITS STARTED DOING IT ONLY IN THE WINTER NOW IT IT CONSISTENT. I AL MOST HAD A FEW FATAL ACCIDENTS BEHIND IT.
TRAC OFF, VSC TRAC ,ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON...TROUBLE CODE WAS P1444 (SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM SWITCHING VALUE STUCK)...VEHICLE HAD PROBLEMS ACCELERATING. REPAIRMAN INDICATED THAT THE AIR INJECTION PUMP/CHECK VALUES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND VERY EXPENSIVE. BASED ON OTHER REPORTS IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE AND VEHICLES SHUTTING DOWN ON INTERSTATES. OTHERS HAVE SAID THAT TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THIS BUT WON'T ISSUE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT OFFERS FOR NEWER VEHICLES . OWNED SEVERAL TOYOTAS BEFORE THIS...THIS COULD BE A DEAL BREAKER FOR FUTURE TOYOTAS. *TR
THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF AND ABS LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN RESET WHEN I TURN OFF & RESTART THE VEHICLE. I CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALER I TAKE MY CAR TO FOR MAINTENANCE AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN WHEN THE LIGHTS TURN ON AGAIN. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND WAITED FOR THE LIGHTS TO COME BACK ON. THE LIGHTS CAME ON TODAY & I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER AND SKID ECU WAS BAD & NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY QUOTED ME $1900 PLUS LABOR. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SEQUOIA'S AND I AM VERY SURPRISED & DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL DONE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, BRAKE, ABS LIGHTS... ALL ON, ALL AT ONCE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW. IT COMES ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN RESETS ITSELF NO CODES FOUND. THIS TIME IT CAME ON AGAIN AND LIMITED THE SPEED TO ABOUT 35MPH WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK HOME SAFELY THANK GOODNESS. I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT SIMILAR CASES FOR THIS MODEL AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.PLEASE HELP. WE HAVE JUST HAD IT SERVICED ABOUT A MONTH AGO FOR TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT ETC. WE HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH EXCESSIVE FRAME RUST. THIS WAS ASSESSED BY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND DOCUMENTED 6/19/14. THERE WAS A RECALL BY TOYOTA FOR FRAME RUST FOR YEARS 2001-2004 ON BOTH TOYOTA SEQUOIAS AND TOYOTA TACOMAS WERE ALSO INVOLVED. TOYOTA RECENTLY EXTENDED RECALLS FOR RUST ON FRAMES FOR TACOMAS YEARS 2005-2012 BUT NOT SEQUOIA MODELS. WHEN I PLACED AN INQUIRY AND COMPLAIN WITH TOYOTA THEY STATED THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR 2005 AND ABOVE TOYOTA SEQUOIAS FRAME RUST, AND THAT OUR 2005 SEQUOIA IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND REPLACEMENT OF FRAME WOULD BE AT THE EXPENSE OF US. WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY SEQUOIAS AND TACOMAS WERE RECALLED INITIALLY WITH THE SAME RUST ISSUE, AND TACOMAS HAVE AN EXTENSION ON THE RECALL FOR RUST BUT NOT SEQUOIAS. WE PURCHASED TOYOTA BRAND WITH THE REPUTATION OF THE COMPANY AND VEHICLES RUNNING WITH OVER 200K MILES. HOWEVER, WITH A FRAME DETERIORATING WE DOUBT OUR TRUCK WILL LAST AND HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT SAFETY WITH A FRAME DECOMPOSING AS IT IS. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF ISSUES WITH THESE FRAMES IN SEQUOIA AND TACOMAS AS EVIDENCED BY RECALLS. BUT IF RECALL IS EXTENDED ON TACOMA'S WHY NOT ON SEQUOIAS? WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK, MY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. I PULLED OVER CUT THE TRUCK OFF THEN BACK ON, THE LIGHT WAS GONE. THE NEXT DAY DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, IT WAS POURING DOWN RAIN AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, ALONG WITH THE TRAC AND VSC WARNING LIGHTS. I WAS ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH SINCE I WAS IN THE CITY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY YET. I PULLED OVER CUT THE TRUCK OFF AND THEN BACK ON, THE LIGHTS WERE OUT, BUT WITHIN ANOTHER MILE THEY WERE BACK ON. I AVOIDED THE HIGHWAY SINCE MY BRAKES WERE HAVING PROBLEMS AND IT WAS POURING RAIN. THE NEXT DAY THEY WERE OFF SO I DROVE BACK TO WORK BUT WHEN I WAS ON THE WAY HOME THEY ALL CAME BACK ON, THIS TIME IT WAS THE AFTERNOON AND NOT RAINING SO I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN THE CODES AND SAID MY CODES WERE C1247 STROKE SENSOR AND C136 MASTER PRESS SENSOR - THEY SAID THIS WAS PART OF A SKID CONTROL ECM THAT CONTROLLED MY ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM! VERY SCARY TO THINK MY BRAKES WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE FIXED FOR $1042.82 AND MAY ALSO NEED TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AT $715.85. WHEN I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS WAS VERY COMMON FAILURE WITH 2003-05 MODELS AND THAT TOYOTA HAD ALREADY RECALLED THE 2003 PROBLEM. MY SERVICE TECH SAID THAT HE WAS NOT AWARE THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR IT. I WAS VERY SCARED TO DRIVE, BUT THE TECH SAID THAT MY BRAKES STILL WORKED BUT THAT THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WILL NOT STOP "ON A DIME" BUT WILL SKID OR SLIDE. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER (ALL WERE ON VACATION) I SPOKE WITH THE LEAD TECH ON SHIFT, WHO TOLD ME ALOT OF WHAT I READ ONLINE WAS JUNK AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY 2005 SEQUOIA BUT HE GAVE ME A NUMBER TO TOYOTA COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT:1-800-331-4331. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN MY VEHICLE SINCE TAKING IT HOME THAT DAY. *TR
ABS SYSTEM WOULD ENGAGE AS VSC SKID CONTROL LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT APPEARS. SYSTEM WOULD RESET AFTER IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. MISHAP OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES ON DRY, SMOOTH ROAD SURFACE AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED WITH MINIMAL PRESSURE ON BRAKE PEDAL. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. THEY REPLACED SKID CONTROL ECU. CAR REPEATED SYMPTOMS ON MY WAY HOME. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER. CAR IS WORKING NORMALLY NOW. *TR
PIECE OF FOAM WORTH $.10 DISLODGED FROM BLOWER MOTOR AND WAS JAMMED IN BLOWER MOTOR VALVE. THIS CREATED A LOUD SQUEAL SOUND. HAD REPAIR DONE AT COST OF $2000 LAST YEAR 2014. TOYOTA DEALER STATES SAME PROBLEM ONCE AGAIN . *TR

MANY OTHERS WITH VEHICLE HAVE HAD SAME ISSUE AND TOYOTA HAS A TSB ON THE ISSUE BUT WILL NOT RECALL OR COVER SEVERAL $K COST. PROBLEM STILL ARISES AFTER VSC COMPUTER REPLACEMENT FOR SOME PEOPLE. I KNOW THERE WERE RECALLS IN THE PAST WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES THAT HAD THE TUBULAR FRAMES. THIS ALSO HAS A TUBULAR FRAME. WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE SOLID AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. ALL OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASH AND THE ANT-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY THE PEDAL CAME BACK TO NORMAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON INTERSTATE 15 IN CALIFORNIA BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS. AFTER SEVERAL HARD FOOT APPLICATIONS PEDAL FINALLY ENGAGED. THIS IS AFTER MONTHS OF SERVICE ON THIS VEHICLE FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS STARTING WITH SPONGY AND INCONSISTENT PEDAL AND VCS, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON AND STAYING ON. DEALERSHIP REPLACED ON BOARD COMPUTER, BRAKE BOOSTER, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE PADS AND PROBLEM STILL THERE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE UPHILL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED THE DEFECT WAS ONLY PRESENT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE UPHILL. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR INJECTION SYSTEM EXHIBITED AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION FROM DEBRIS THAT RUPTURED FROM INSIDE THE AIR INJECTION SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,500.

I'M A LOYAL CUSTOMER TO TOYOTA. MY 2005 SEQUOIA SR5 V8 WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE TRUCK IS ALWAYS BEEN METICULOUSLY CARED FOR BY MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. IN MANY CASES, I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED BASED ON DEALER RECOMMENDATIONS TO PROLONG ITS USE. IT HAD APPROX 85,000 MILES WHEN I NOTICED THE MAIN THENCE LIGHT. AFTER A VISIT TO THE STONE MOUNTAIN, GA DEALERSHIP, THEY WANTED $4000 FOR PARTS AND LABOR ON AN EMISSION COMPONENT FAILURE (AIR PUMP INJECTION SYSTEM). I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIR PUMP INJECTIONS COULD BE DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE LIGHT/MAINTENANCE CODES DO NOT MAKE THE TRUCK UN-DRIVEABLE NOR DOES IT CAUSE A SAFETY RISK, BUT THAT IT WOULD NOT PASS THE STATE EMISSIONS INSPECTION. I INQUIRED ABOUT POSSIBLE DEFECT AND/OR RECALL NOTICES FOR THE AIR PUMP INJECTIONS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD ON 4 OCCASIONS, OVER THE PAST 18 MONTHS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET FORUMS AND BOARDS, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH OTHER V8 SEQUOIAS, TUNDRAS & 4RUNNERS. ACCORDING TO YOUR WEBSITE & OTHER RESEARCH, THE TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS WITH THE SAME 4.7L V8 HAS HAD THE SAME EMISSION COMPONENT WARRANTIED TO 10 YEARS/150,000 MILES (TSB 032908/TSB 035009), BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT HELPED IN RESOLVING.
