This Toyota has several large rust holes directly on the frame. i hit a pot hole and more structure damage was revealed on the frame from rust. The truck drives rough now. The vehicle only has 150,000 miles. The rust holes are so severe that they're directly under my suspension. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle. Their was once a recall for the frame. It doesn't seem that it was satisfied. I'm very worried about this issue. Toyota should have to replace frame or make it safe to drive.
Back in 2018 toyota did the undercoat to my 2006 Toyota sequoia frame to prevent rust. Now my frame is completely rotted out to the point i can’t drive my vehicle.
Frame of this vehicle has lot of rust damage, is it still under manufacture recall? How can I ensure safety of my vehicle along with rusty frame? I’ll be glad to receive more information how to contact manufacturer in order to get this resolved. I drove this vehicle on Nov 19, 2023 last time just hear some knocking sounds while driving
Frame rusted so badly the the brackets attached to it are coming off
2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY DURING AUTO ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY, STATING THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE VEHICLE'S IMPACT DID NOT REQUIRE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER WAS UNSATISFIED WITH THIS RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A NEWLY REPAIRED VEHICLE AND TO BE COMPENSATED FOR FUTURE ACCIDENTS THAT MAY AFFECT THE DRIVER.
My vehicle was in dealer shop for various maintenance 3 times (Nov 202 - May 2021 - Jan 2022). Frame rear passenger side rusting to the point I was told not to drive my vehicle on bad roads. Toyota dealer said to replace the frame thru them would cost me $14,000. I cried all the way home because I take exceptional care since I purchased her 2006 new. She is a Cream Puff. This should have been identified sooner. I have not driven her since Jan 3, 2022 because not only me+ (husband & dogs), but also my fellow motorists are at risk. Both my husband & an employee of the dealer shop asked Toyota directly in attempt to get them to replace frame at their expense. Toyota said No.
The driver side, rear, trailing arm broke away from the vehicles frame due to “frame rot” while driving. The vehicle became extremely dangerous to drive. Toyota has since declined to help. They said they notified us via mail of a customer service campaign addressing the premature rust issue, but we never learned of the program and lawsuit until after the frame broke and I almost crashed. Later I saw the broken arm/frame under the vehicle. This frame failure can potentially be a catastrophic and deadly event. I opened an insurance claim and it was denied and I was referred back to Toyota. Our vehicle has been factory maintained it’s entire life. No service advisors ever mentioned a possible problem to my family and I. I recently spoke to the Toyota service manager at Parker Toyota in Couer d Alene Idaho and his master technicians have seen the same failure that occurred on our vehicle. This is extremely dangerous.
The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. The contact stated that the VSC OFF, and the VSC traction and brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road before deciding to continue to drive. The contact stated while driving to his residence, he heard an abnormal noise. The contact stated while inspecting the vehicle, the rear driver suspension link was detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 298,000.
I was on the freeway driving and out of nowhere the body started swaying and bobbing with no control. Was informed by the tow truck driver that i could have rolled the vehicle easily and the consequences would have been serious. The frame is so rusted out that the tie rod and sway bar assembly are completely detached from the frame and hanging loose. Upon further inspection at the auto repair garage there are rusting issues throughout the frame. The frame needs complete replacement.
Bought the vehicle not knowing it has a rotting frame
My front end sounds weird and when I turn my trac lights come on and it tries to turn off but never does I was told my fuel pump was bad I paid 650 for it to be fixed was the issue I believe it is a recall on similar vehicles
Frame rusted out and parts dropping off frame with no early warning. Toyota completed corrosion resistant compound 2 years ago following inspection per limited service campaign H0F, saying issue resolved to extent of warranty with known rust issue for this year and model. Now another independent garage saying we never should have been driving, much less hauling 5000 lb. trailer. Only warning was odd sound from under carriage.

I ALMOST KILL MYSELF, THE TRACK OFF GOES WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR SLIDE TO THE RIGHT AFTER THAT ALL LIGHTS ON THE CAR WENT ON AND THE CODE READER DO NOT WORK SAYS I CAN'T READ THE CODES NO CODES ON THE COMPUTER

THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,000. TH VIN WAS INVALID.
TRACTION CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY KICKS IN WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. PAVEMENT IS LEVEL AND DRY AT THE TIME. LOSES ACCELERATION FOR A SECOND OR TWO. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE 01/03/2020. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE INCREASING.
PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND DROVE 30 FEET TOWARDS A STOP SIGN GOING 15 MPH AND BALL JOINT BROKE AND CAR FELL TO DRIVER SIDE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE DRIVER'S SIDE BALL JOINT FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BALL JOINT WAS REPLACED. A YEAR LATER, WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 70 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A MEDIAN. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND POLICE REPORT NUMBER: P190541059 WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN FOR ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION REPAIRS AND BEING WORKED ON FOR 3 MONTHS. I WAS UNABLE TO GET IT TO TOYOTA BEFORE THE JANUARY 31 DEADLINE FOR THE FRAME PROGRAM. I CALLED AND WAS TOLD BECAUSE IT WAS BEING WORKED ON, IT WOULD BE HONORED ANYWAYS. CALLED TO SCHEDULE TO BRING IT IN AND THEY SAID, SORRY, THAT EXPIRED, SO YOU HAVE TO GET APPROVAL FROM TOYOTA BUT WE CAN STILL COAT IT IN ANTI CORROSION TIL THE END OF MAY. I CALLED TOYOTA AND SPOKE TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE WHO ALL SAID, ITS EXPIRED AND WE CAN'T HELP YOU. SO NOW I HAVE A VEHICLE WITH A PROVEN UNSAFE FRAME AND NO SOLUTION.
WE NEED HELP IN GETTING TOYOTA MOTORS, INC. TO HONOR THE WARRANTY PROGRAM COVERING PREMATURE EXCESSIVE RUST CORROSION OF CERTAIN TOYOTA MODEL FRAMES. IN MID-OCTOBER 2018 WE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA MOTORS, INC., OF THE FOLLOWING: 'WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION ' ZH8 AND LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN ' HOF.' THE ZH8 AND HOF WERE INSTITUTED AS A RESULT OF A DETERMINATION THAT THE FRAMES ON CERTAIN TOYOTA VEHICLES ARE PRONE TO 'EXCESSIVE, PREMATURE RUST CORROSION BECAUSE THE FRAMES WERE NOT PROPERLY PREPARED AND TREATED AGAINST RUST CORROSION WHEN THEY WERE MANUFACTURED.' EXCESSIVE RUST CORROSION ON MY SUV 'COMPROMISES THE VEHICLES' SAFETY, STABILITY, AND CRASH-WORTHINESS BECAUSE IMPORTANT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, ENGINE MOUNTS, TRANSMISSION MOUNTS, AND BODY MOUNTS ANCHOR TO THE VEHICLES' FRAMES'. THE ATTACHED WORK ORDER SHOWS: 'INSPECTED AND FOUND NO PERFORATION. ELIGIBLE FOR CRC SPRAY ' CUSTOMER WILL RETURN AT A LATER DATE FOR FRAME CRC APPLICATION.' IT WAS DURING THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT JIM COLEMAN ONLY HAD ONE PERSON PERFORMING THIS WORK. AND THAT WE HAD TWO YEARS FROM OCTOBER 2018 TO HAVE THE WORK PERFORMED BY TOYOTA AT NO CHARGE. ON MONDAY MARCH 10, 2019, WE LEFT OUR SUV WITH THE TOYOTA DEALER SO THAT THE HOF WORK COULD BE PERFORMED. WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER AT 5:05PM ON FRIDAY 03/15/2019 INFORMING US THAT (A) OUR SUV HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED SINCE THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (B) THAT THERE ARE LARGE HOLES IN THE FRAME AND (C) NO WORK WOULD BE PERFORMED SINCE THE HOF HAD ENDED IN JANUARY 2019. WE PAID OVER $60,000.00 FOR OUR TOYOTA SUV NOT MANY YEARS AGO. WE LITERALLY RECEIVED A DIFFERENT ANSWER REGARDING THE CRC AND HOF EACH TIME WE CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER RELATIONS
I HAVE REPLACED THE LATCH ON MY LIFT GATE 3 TIMES NOW. THE LATCH KEEPS BREAKING. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I DON'T SEE A RECALL FOR IT BUT I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR IT. I CAN'T ACCESS MY SPARE TIRE IF I HAVE A FLAT OR SOMETHING. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP.
WHEN TURNING CORNER IN MOTION THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT INDICATOR COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE LOSES ACCELERATION FOR 2 - 3 SECONDS, WHEN LIGHT GOES OFF ACCELERATION WILL RESUME. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC. DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME.
REAR HATCH. REAR HATCH HANDLE MADE OF PLASTIC. HAS BROKEN TWO TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. DEALER CHARGES $400 EACH TIME TO REPLACE. TOYOTA SHOULD NOT MAKE CARS WITH SUCH CHEAP PARTS. CANNOT GET INTO VEHICLE.
SEVERE RUST HOLE IN REAR FRAME OVER LEAF SPRINGS NOTED BY MECHANIC WHEN DOING ALIGNMENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION.
IN MARCH 2016, I HAD - FOR THE FIRST TIME - THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, BRAKE, AND ABS LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL COME ON... ALL 4 ON AT ONCE. THEN AGAIN, TODAY, I HAD THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. A KNOWN ISSUE FOR BOTH SEQUOIA AND TUNDRA MODELS, OWNERS HAVE TRIED TO GET A RECALL. MANY THOUGHTS ONLINE ABOUT WHAT CAUSES THIS; IT APPEARS IT'S A FAULTY SKID CONTROL UNIT (ECU UNIT). SAYS THE ECU WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO A "SAFE" MODE AND LIMIT OUTPUT POWER AND ACCELERATION, UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED. I EXPERIENCED THIS TODAY AFTER THE LIGHTS CAME ON. OTHERS ONLINE SAY MIGHT BE A BAD BRAKE FLUID SENSOR, BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH OR OXYGEN SENSOR. HOWEVER, OVERWHELMINGLY IT SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY ECU' AND THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE ELECTRONIC PART ($2,300)!
SECONDARY AIR SYSTEM REPEATEDLY BRAKING PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO LIMP MODE, ALSO CAUSING JERKY DRIVING. 2-3K REPAIR ON A KNOWN DEFECT WITH NO RECALL?
MY 16 YEAR OLD SON WAS LOCKED IN THE JEEP UNABLE TO GET OUT IN A 90 DEGREE WEATHER. ON JULY 1ST THE JEEP WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET IN BRIDGEPORT NEW JERSEY. I CAME OUT THE VEHICLE THEN LOCKED THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND HURRIED TO BRING A BAG WITH FOOD INSIDE EVEN THOUGH PASSENGERS WERE STILL EXITING THE VEHICLE. MY SON WAS NOT READY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR WAS SHUT CLOSED. LATER HE TRIED TO EXIT THE JEEP AND EVERY TIME HE TRIED TO OPEN THE JEEP DOOR, THE DOOR WOULD LOCK AND THE ALARM WHO OFF. HE DID THIS QUITE A FEW TIME AND WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE JEEP. HE HAD TO CALL SOMEONE ON HIS CELLPHONE TO HIS AID. THIS WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. WHY DID THIS HAPPENED? IS THIS A DEFECT? WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP THAT I HAVE TO TAKE?
THE VSC TRAC LIGHT, THE VSC OFF LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALL COME ON.... IT CAUSED MY BRAKES TO ACTUALLY FAIL. I CAN TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART AND THIS SEEMS TO RESET IT. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND AT VARIOUS TIMES. IT HAPPENS QUITE FREQUENTLY AND ESPECIALLY DURING THE WARM SUMMER MONTHS. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WOULD HAPPILY HAVE IT FIXED IF SOMEONE COULD TELL WHAT THE EXACT FIX IS?
WHEN TAKING TURNS AT MILD ACCELERATION THE SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT WILL FLASH AND THE VEHICLE LOSES ACCELERATION. THIS GENERALLY HAPPENS WHEN TAKING A LEFT TURN FROM STOP WHILE ENTERING TRAFFIC FROM A SIDE STREET ONTO A MAIN ROAD. GENERALLY AT THE INTERSECTIONS THERE ARE A SMALL GRADE CHANGE FOR WATER DRAINAGE, THIS WILL CAUSE UNEVEN SURFACE WHEN DRIVING ACROSS AND CAUSE A MINOR ROCKING OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS HAS PRODUCED DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHERE THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION LEAVES THE VEHICLE IN THE ONCOMING LANE LONGER THAN DESIRED AND COULD EASILY RESULT IN A SERIOUS COLLISION. I HAVE FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON MULTIPLE FORUMS THAT HAVE REFERENCES THE CAUSE BEING ASSOCIATED WITH ABS SENSOR OR YAW SENSORS. WOULD LOVE FOR THIS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND A SOLUTION PROVIDED.
"TAKATA RECALL" WHILE ENTERING THE RAMP TO GET ON THE EASTEX FWY. (IH 59) NORTH BOUND, I OBSERVED THAT UP AHEAD OF ME A VEHICLE WAS IN A COMPLETE STOP WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. I TRIED TO SWITCH LANES BUT I HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE TO MY LEFT WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SWITCH LANES. I THEN RAN INTO THE BACK OF THE OTHER CAR WHICH CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. AFTER COLLIDING WITH THE STOPPED VEHICLE, I WAS THRUST FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL OF MY CAR. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO PREVENT MY FACE, HEAD, AND UPPER BODY FROM CRASHING INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT WINDSHIELD OF MY CAR.
WHEN MY FRAME WAS RECALLED AND REPAIRED I STARTED HAVING MY VCS AND CHECKNENGIN3 LIGHT COME ON CONSTANTLY AND NAME THE TRUCK SHAKES AND IS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN OVER SPEEDS OF 25 UNSTABLE AND UNSAFE. TOOK IT TO LAWRENCE TOYOTA AND THE SAID IT WOULD COST $2175 TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURED IN 100 OF SEQUOIAS AND SHOULD BE PART OF THE FRAME RECALL. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND ALL I WANT TOYOTA TO DO IS REPAIR MY VEHICLE AS PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL.
VSC/TRAC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES..IT TAKES A WHILE TO STOP AND WHILE IN REVERSE / BACKING UP ...BRAKES SQUEEK AND SLIDES WHEN BACKING UP AND MAKES A SQUEEKING, POPPING NOISE AND IT SLIDES LIKE THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO GIVE OUT. TOOK TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATE ALL VEHICLE BRAKES SQUEEK AND VERY COMMON / FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND HAD THEM INDICATE IN WRITING (A MECHANIC AND 2 OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DROVE MY VEHICLE STATING YES SOMETHING WRONG W BRAKES)
TAKATA RECALL THE TAKATA RECALL WEBSITE LISTS, AMONG OTHER VEHICLES, 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIAS. I HAVE ONE OF THESE. HOWEVER, WHEN I PUT MY VIN INTO THE ONLINE SYSTEM, IT INDICATES NO RECALLS. I NEED SPECIFIC ASSURANCE THAT I DO NOT NEED TO ADDRESS THIS RECALL, PLEASE, SINCE THERE MAY BE A DISCONNECT BETWEEN THE ONLINE RECALL-CHECKING SERVICES AND THE TAKATA-RELATED WEBSITE. THANKS.
THE VEHICLE VSC TRAC SYSTEM GOES ON FOR NO REASON WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION (ROADS ARE STRAIGHT, AND DRY). AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES GO INTO A LOUD GRIND MODE AND DO NOT ENGAGE, A LOUD BLARING BEEPING SOUNDS, THE VEHICLE STARTS TO VIBRATES HORRIBLY, I CAN NOT ACCELERATE AND THE STEERING IS DIFFICULT. IT IS NOT SAFE, AS I WAS ON A COUNTRY ROAD GOING 55 MPH ON A STRAIGHT 2 WAY ROAD WITH TRAFFIC! IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE AND AS FAR AS I CAN SEE IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER 2006 SEQUOIAS OWNERS YET ONLY THE 2003 WERE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. UNACCEPTABLE!
MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND I DECIDED TO BRING IT IN TO GET IT CHECKED AND FIXED. MY SIGNALS FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRAC OFF LIGHTS AND VSC TRACE LIGHTS ALL GO ON AT THE SAME TIME PERIODICALLY AS I AM DRIVING ANYWHERE ON THE FREEWAY OR THE STREET, AND DISAPEAR PERIODICALLY. I THOUGHT I HAD FIXED EVERYTHING WHEN THEY DIAGNOSED 5 THINGS ON MY VEHICLE THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. ONE OF THEM WAS MY MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS THAT ARE MAKING MY LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF. TO WHICH I WENT AHEAD AND LET THEM FIX IT AND MANY OTHER THINGS AND STILL IT IS NOT FIXED AND CONTINUES TO GO ON AND OFF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT'S MESSING WITH MY BRAKE SYSTEM.
THE TRAC OFF LIGHT AND VSC LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT COMES ON, ON THE DASH. WHEN YOU MAKE A TURN THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER AND STALLS IN THE ROAD. THE STEERING IS ALL OVER THE ROAD AND IT DOESN'T HAVE THE STOP TIME AS IT DID.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SETTLEMENT POSTCARD FOR THE FRAME ALONG WITH UNKNOWN RECALL NOTICES REGARDING THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BUTLER TOYOTA (9419 ARONSON DR, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240, (317) 848-4210) SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE FRAME REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS WERE REPAIRED INSTEAD. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SETTLEMENT LETTER HAD EXPIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND WAS DETERIORATING RAPIDLY. THE DEALER QUOTED A REPAIR COST OF $2,000 FOR AN AIR SUSPENSION AIR BAG THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE COST TO REPAIR THE FRAME WAS $3,000. THE DEALER DID NOT INCLUDE ON THE PAPERWORK THAT THE FRAME WAS THE MAIN REASON THE CONTACT BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IF THE DEALER HAD INCLUDED THE FRAME ON THE REPAIR ORDER, THEY WOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE FRAME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000.
REAR HATCH. REAR HATCH HANDLE MADE OF PLASTIC. HAS BROKEN THREE TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. DEALER CHARGES $600 EACH TIME TO REPLACE. TOYOTA SHOULD NOT MAKE CARS WITH SUCH CHEAP PARTS. CANNOT GET INTO VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION, THE VEHICLE FAILED DUE TO A HOLE IN THE REAR OF THE FRAME NEAR THE HITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TRI COUNTY TOYOTA (15 D AND L DR, ROYERSFORD, PA 19468) WHERE IT WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HOLE IN THE FRAME WAS DUE TO RUST. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT PROCEED WITH A REPAIR BECAUSE NHTSA HAD TO AGREE TO A PLAN TO INITIATE A RECALL AND REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED, BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD PERFORM A TEMPORARY WELD ON THE FRAME UNTIL TOYOTA COULD ISSUE A RECALL WITH A FINAL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
IN APRIL 2017 OUR 2006 SEQUOIA WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR REPAIR. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THE AMOUNT OF RUST UNDER THE VEHICLE AND AROUND THE FRAME WAS SO BAD HE RECOMMENDED WE FILE A COMPLAINT. HIS ASSESSMENT WAS THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I AM PETITIONING THAT TOYOTA STAND BEHIND THIS ISSUE FOR OUR SAFETY!!
TOYOTA SEQUOIA (BALL JOINTS RECALL) WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY I-5 NORTHBOUND JUST AFTER THE BRIDGE THAT GOES OVER THE SACRAMENTO RIVER I WAS ON THE BYPASS/COSWAY BRIDGE DRIVING IN THE #1 (OF 2) LANE GOING 65 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY MY FRONT END DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY VEHICLE DROPPED COMPLETELY AND I WAS SKIDDING ON COMPLETE METAL, I HAD NO BREAKS AND CONTINUED TO SKID FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE FOREVER, AND STEERED TO MY TO MY RIGHT PASSING THE #2 LANE GOING UP AGAINST THE EDGE OF THE RIGHT SIDE ON THE BRIDGE. I WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED. I COULDN'T OPEN MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DUE THE TRAFFIC RIGHT UP AGAINST ME. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY INSURANCE ROAD-SIDE ASSISTANCE WHO DISPATCHED A TOW TRUCK. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE LOCATION, THE TOW TRUCK REQUIRED THE ASSISTANCE OF HIGHWAY PATROL. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER IMMEDIATELY KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND SAID TOYOTAS WERE KNOWN FROM THE UPPER/LOWER BALL JOINTS BREAKING ON THEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VALLEY TIRE SERVICE SHOP. THE SERVICE GUY THERE ALSO KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED THE TOYOTA MANUFACTURER TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEFECTIVE PART WAS IN FACT A RECALL. HOWEVER, THE PART HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED IN 2009. AFTER HAVING REVIEWED MANY BLOGS ON LINE ABOUT THIS BEING A COMMON ISSUE WITH TOYOTA SEQUOIAS (SOME MORE THAN ONCE), I WAS EXTREMELY CONCERNED. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED AND FEAR DRIVING THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THAT THE DEFECTIVE PART HAVING ALREADY BEEN REPLACED IS STILL DEFECTIVE. I WILL NOT TRUST ANOTHER PART BEING REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO. THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/04/2017*JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH A DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE FRAME WAS RUSTED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
SINCE THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG RECALL, I HAD CALLED MY LOCAL TOYOTA NUMEROUS TIME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, THEY TAKE MY INFO AND PROMISE TO EMAIL ME OR CALL BACK WITH THE NEXT AVAIL. APPOINTMENT, HOWEVER WE NEVER HEAR BACK, AND STILL NO RESOLUTION TO FIXING THE AIRBAG.
TAKATA RECALL. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED REGARDING THE AIRBAG RECALL.
THE FRAME, REAR AXLE, SUSPENSION, BRAKE LINES COMPONENTS ARE SEVERELY RUSTED IN PARTICULAR THE FRAME WHERE IT IS RUSTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THESE FRAMES SUFFER FROM THE SAME ISSUE AS OTHER TOYOTA TRUCKS WHERE TOYOTA REPLACED THE FRAMES. THIS RUST CONDITION MAKES THESE VEHICLES UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL OF THESE VEHICLES BEFORE PEOPLE ARE HURT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLES NEW IN 2006 AND MAINTAINED IT WELL. I ADDRESSED THE EXTERNAL RUST BUT CAN NOT PREVENT THE INTERNAL RUST. THE FRAMES NEED TO BE REPLACED OR THE VEHICLE BROUGHT BACK AND DISPOSED OF.
