BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO HAVE VSC LIGHT SERVICE AND FOUND OUT THAT THE FRAME WHERE THE VEHICLE REAR STABILITY BAR CONNECTS TO IS ALL RUSTED OUT. AND THE OTHER SIDE WILL SOON FOLLOW. I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, SEE PHOTOS.
SPENT OVER 2K AT TOYOTA CARLSBAD FOR REPAIRS 1-2 YEARS AGO..PROBLEM ACCELERATING AND LIGHTS COMING UP FOR CHECK ENGINE, TRACK OFF AND VSC..TOOK AGAIN AND THEY ARE ASKING FOR NEARLY 5K FOR REPAIRS..PROBLEM ACCELERATING IN FREEWAY AND TPMS LIGHS ON..
THERE'S AN 18 TO 24 INCH HOLE IN THE FRAME ON THE LEFT FRONT, WHICH SHOULD NOT HAVE DETERIORATED SO QUICKLY OR TO THAT EXTREME. EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD AS THE FRAME COULD BRAKE WITH ANY SIGNIFICANT STRESS, SUCH AS POTHOLES.
FRAME HAS RUST CORROSION CAUSING 18 INCH PERFORATED HOLE IN FRONT FRAME OF CAR. THIS IS SAME PROBLEM THAT HAS WARRANTED A RECALL OF THE TOYOTA TUNDRA WHICH USES THE SAME FRAME. THE CAR HAS BEEN DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE RUST CORROSION ON THE FRAME. THIS MUST BE DUE TO POOR QUALITY MATERIAL AND COATING OF THE ORIGINAL FRAME. THROUGH RESEARCH APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN SEQUOIA THAT ARE IN AREAS DEALING WITH ROAD SALT. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE THIS MODEL ALONG WITH THE TUNDRA. THE CAR IS PARKED OUTSIDE DRIVEWAY AND MOSTLY LOCAL DRIVING.
SRS AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 8YEARS DURING DRIVING. I'VE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO GET CHECK AT SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS & THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. FINALLY TOOK IT TO GET CHECK & ITS DISCOVER IT'S THE CONTROL MODULE, THE PROGRAMMING WAS DEAD. CHECKED VIN & THERE'S A RECALL STATUS WAITING TO GET APPROVED FOR THE CONTROL MODULE AS OF FEBRUARY 2016. IT STATES IT WAS TO BE DETERMINE BY SEPTEMBER 2016. I'M NOW IN A WAITING TO GET A REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO I NEED A VEHICLE & HAVE TO PAY FOR FIXING. THE DISTURBING ISSUE IS THAT I WAS DRIVING WITH A DEFECTED CONTROL MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS. NEED THIS RECALL TO HAPPEN QUICK FOR OTHERS VEHICLE OWNERS.
SEVERE FRAME CORROSION, 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA: I WAS UNAWARE OF THE "COLD WEATHER STATES" FRAME CORROSION PROBLEM WITH TOYOTAS (AND RECALLS OF OLDER SEQUOIAS AND OTHER TOYOTA TRUCKS) UNTIL I TOOK MY '06 SEQUOIA TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR AN AIRBAG RECALL REPLACEMENT AND DIAGNOSIS OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A MINOR FRONT END RATTLE. WHEN THEY RAISED IT ON THE LIFT, THEY SAID THE VEHICLE BEHAVED IMPROPERLY AND THEY WERE ALARMED. THAT IS WHEN THEY DISCOVERED THE LARGE, RUSTED HOLE IN THE FRAME! WHAT A SHOCK IT WAS WHEN THEY TOLD ME, AND THEN, TO BE ADVISED THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE! IF I HAD NOT TAKEN IT IN FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL, MY FAMILY AND I COULD BE DEAD RIGHT NOW, IF CONDITIONS HAD BEEN JUST SO. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE THAT TOYOTA IS PUTTING PEOPLES' LIVES IN DANGER BY NOT RECALLING ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS FRAME AND STANDING BY THEIR PRODUCT. ARE THEY WAITING FOR A DEATH(S) TO OCCUR BEFORE THEY ARE FORCED TO RECALL? THEY CERTAINLY KNOW THAT OTHER NON-RECALLED MODELS OF SEQUOIA HAVE FRAME ROT. PRESENTLY, MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER IS WAITING FOR APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL TO HAVE THE FRAME REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. I AM WARY AND LEFT IN CONSTANT WORRY IF TOYOTA WILL HELP, BASED ON THE REPORTS OF OTHER PEOPLES' EXPERIENCES WHOSE VEHICLES WERE NOT RECALLED YET. I AM FACED WITH IT BEING A TOTAL LOSS IF TOYOTA DOES NOT CHOOSE TO DO THE RIGHT THING. (THIS IS THEIR FAULT. THEY SHOULD FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. PERIOD.) I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF ITS REPORTED RELIABILITY. I HAVE BEEN A 3 TIMES LOYAL CUSTOMER TO TOYOTA AND AM IN UTTER DISBELIEF HOW I HAVE BEEN MISLED. PLEASE PUSH TO HAVE TOYOTA RECALL ALL TOYOTA SEQUOIAS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE ON THIS FRAME SO THAT NOBODY ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH THIS UNIMAGINABLE STRESS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OR IS SEVERELY INJURED. WILL MY REPORT BE THE FINAL REPORT THAT PROMPTS A RECALL OR THIS DEATH TRAP? I HOPE SO.
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH 83,900 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE VSC TRAC SYSTEM GOES ON AND OFF FOR NO REASON WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES GO INTO GRIND MODE AND DO NOT ENGAGE. I HAVE NARROWLY MISSED HITTING OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO BRAKE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN, BUT NOT UNDER RECALL OR COVERED BY WARRANTY. I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THIS. THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER AS THIS IS A PUBLIC SAFETY AND LIABILITY ISSUE. I NEED HELP RESOLVING THIS WITH TOYOTA.

THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK HAS BECOME RUSTY VERY QUICKLY WITH NORMAL CITY ROAD USE
THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTING BADLY TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE FOUND ITEMS THAT HAVE RUSTED OFF THE FRAME LYING IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER THE CAR IS PARKED. THE INSIDE OF THE REAR HATCH IS RUSTED OUT BEYOND USE. CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED AND ALWAYS IN COVERED PARKING. PARTS OF THE FRAME CAN BE PULLED OFF DUE OT THE RUST FLAKING AND PARTS CAN BE PULLED OFF THAT SHOULD BE BOLTED THE CAR.

THE VSC TRAC LIGHT, THE VSC OFF LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALL COME ON....IT CAUSED MY BRAKES TO ACTUALLY FAIL. I CAN TURN THE THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART AND THIS SEEMS TO RESET IT. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND AT VARIOUS TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, THEY REPLACED A $200 PART AND IT DID NOT HELP. IT'S HAPPENED AGAIN. I'VE READ MANY MANY REPORTS OF THIS ONLINE. WHY NO RECALL. IT'S A MIRACLE NOBODY HAS DIED. BRAKE FAILURE???? SERIOUSLY.

AFTER YEARS OF TAKING MY CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER, I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD FRAME ROT WAS SO BAD THAT MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE VETERANS HIGHWAY IN TAMPA, IT BEGAN SHAKING AND VIBRATING. THE VEHICLES TRAC OFF LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND IT FELT LIKE IT WAS BRAKING BY ITSELF. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE SEQUOIA BECAUSE IT HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY.

LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE, CAUSING THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE TO BREAK OFF AT LOW SPEED ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET.

JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER 2006 SEQUOIA AT 80K MILES THE YELLOW ABS, YELLOW VSC OFF, YELLOW VSC TRAC , AND RED BRAKE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON CAUSING IT TO FAIL THE MA STATE INSPECTION. DISASSEMBLED P/N 44050-0C100 AND THE BRUSHES IN THE ABS PUMP MOTOR (ATE 25.0206-0206.3) ARE COMPLETELY GONE.
AFTER A STOP ON DRY PAVEMENT, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS QUICKLY AS IT SHOULD. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FLASHES THEN THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD CATCHING UP TO THE THROTTLE POSITION ONCE THE SENSOR WARNING LIGHT CLEARS (AFTER A FEW SECONDS). THE ISSUE IS MORE PRONOUNCED IN 4HI. SAFETY ISSUE WHEN TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC AS VEHICLE STUTTERS OR DELAYS THE TURN.

THE FRAME ON THE VEHICLE HAS EXCESSIVE RUST AND THERE ARE SOME RUST PERFORATIONS AND HOLES IN THE STRUCTURAL PARTS OF THE FRAME. IN ADDITION, SOME STABILITY COMPONENTS NEED TO BE WELDED BACK ONTO THE FRAME BECAUSE THEY HAVE BROKEN OFF.

WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSC OFF LIGHT, AND VSC TRAC LIGHT ALL CAME ON AT ONCE, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND I EXPERIENCED A DRAMATIC DECREASE IN VEHICLE POWER. I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME NOTICING A DRASTIC CHANGE IN ACCELERATION AS THE SEQUOIA WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY; IT WOULD ACCELERATE AT A SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED RATE, TOPPING OUT AT 35MPH ON THE FLATS AND 16 MPH ON AN INCLINE, IN ADDITION, DURING START UP, THE ENGINE MAKES A HIGH-PITCH VACUUM NOISE, WHICH DROPS OFF AND NORMAL ENGINE SOUND RETURNS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED; ERROR CODES P2440, P441 AND P444 ARE ALL PRESENT INDICATING A FAILURE OF THE AIR INJECTION PUMP. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON TOYOTA SEQUOIAS AND TUNDRAS; HOWEVER, TOYOTA HAS ONLY ACKNOWLEDGED IT ON THE 07-10 SEQUOIA BY EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS AND 150,000K MILES FOR THIS PART. IT IS CLEAR FROM OTHER POSTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND OTHERS THAT THIS PROBLEM ALSO EXISTS WITH THE 2004-07 SEQUOIAS AS WELL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED, OR WORSE YET KILLED.
MY VEHICLE IS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL FOR A DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN ARIZONA A FEW YEARS AGO, AND I LIVE IN SAN DIEGO, CA. I HAVE A VACATION HOME IN BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, MEXICO. I KEEP THE TOYOTA SEQUOIA AT THAT HOME IN MEXICO, ABOUT 900 MILES FROM CALIFORNIA. THERE IS A TOYOTA DEALER IN SAN JOSE DEL CABO WHO COULD MAKE THE REPAIR. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE 1800 MILES ROUND TRIP TO THE USA IN ORDER TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE IN THE USA. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO ALLOW ITS DEALER IN SAN JOSE DEL CABO TO MAKE THE REPAIR. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE YOU TO REQUIRE TOYOTA TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE PURCHASED IN THE UNITED STATES BY A U.S. CITIZEN IN MEXICO.
THE FRAME, REAR-END HOUSING, BRAKE SYSTEM, GUARDS, SHIELDS, EXHAUST AND MANY SUB PARTS ARE RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH. THE BRAKE LINES TO THE REAR BRAKES RUPTURED DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST.

WHEN WE WENT FOR SERVICING, TOYOTA DEALER SAID, NOT TO WASTE ANY MONEY FOR FLUID EXCHANGES, LIKE POWER STEERING FLUID, TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE, BECAUSE CAR MAY NOT PASS INSPECTION, BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE FRAME RUST. WE ARE SCARED TO DRIVE, WHETHER SPARE TIRE, REAR BRAKES FAILING, OTHER COMPONENTS FALLING OFF CAUSING DAMAGE TO CAR AND PEOPLE DRIVING BEHIND . WE SEE SEQUOIAS FROM 2000 TO 2004 ARE RECALLED FOR NEW FRAME INSTALLATION BECAUSE OF RUST PROBLEMS. WE SINCERELY HOPE, TOYOTA WILL RECALL 2006 SEQUOIAS ALSO. WE BELIEVED IN TOYOTA REPUTATION, FOR QUALITY AND RELIABILITY. WE ARE REALLY VERY DISAPPOINTED. MY FAMILY HAS 3 TOYOTAS AND EXPECTING TO BUY 2 MORE SOON. I RECEIVED A LETTER IN AUGUST STATING THERE IS A DEFECT IN MY PASSENGER AIR BAG. THEY TOLD ME NOT TO PUT A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. IT'S OCTOBER AND THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS MY ONLY CAR AND NEED ALL MY SEATS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I NEED ALL MY PASSENGER SEATS.
DURING SERVICING, THE SEQUOIA WAS FOUND TO HAVE A RUSTED/ROTTEN FRAME AND DECLARED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. TOYOTA HAS HAD OTHER FRAME RUST REPLACEMENT RECALLS FOR THIS MODEL, BUT NOT FOR THE MODEL YEAR IN QUESTION. THEY HAVE HAD FRAME RECALLS FOR 2006 FOR SIMILAR MODELS (TACOMA). THIS SAFETY ISSUE WAS NOT FOUND BY THE DEALERSHIP PREVIOUSLY, ALTHOUGH THE DANGEROUS SITUATION WOULD HAVE EXISTED. TOYOTA DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE.
VSC TRAC ON/OFF BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHTS APPEAR WHILE DRIVING IN THE 35-45MPH RANGE. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE (FIRM OR LIGHT BRAKE PRESSURE), THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, AS IF IT IS ACTIVATING THE ABS, WHICH TAKES A LITTLE LONGER TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT WOULD'VE BEEN NICE IF TOYOTA CREATED A VSC TRAC ON/OFF SWITCH (AT THIS RATE, I MAY HAVE TO CREATE MY OWN). SOME WEBSITES MENTION DIRTY SENSORS (SPEED SENSORS), SOME MENTION POSSIBLE FAULTY YAW RATE SENSOR (LEVEL WARNING SWITCH, LOCATED IN THE CENTER CONSOLE), STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MAY NEED ADJUSTING. SECONDARY INJECTION PUMP FAILURE. DEALERSHIP SAYS VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND COST WOULD BE ROUGHLY $3000.00. NO OFFER TO HELP, BUT SAME PROBLEM AS 07-10 TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS. TRK OFF, CHECK ENGINE, ETC. BRAKES NOT OPTIMAL. LONG RUNNING PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA TRUCKS. 96 K MILES AND WELL MAINTAINED. WOULDN'T BE UPSET IF IT WASN'T SUCH A HIGHLY REPORTED FAILURE. HAPPENED UPON STARTUP WITH LOUD SUCKING NOISE FOR ROUGHLY 30 SECONDS AND ALL LIGHTS CONCERNING ENGINE CAME ON.
TRAC CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT,VCS LIGHTS, ABS LIGHTS, AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT ONCE AS I STARTED VEHICLE ONE MORNING.

IN EARLY AUGUST I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG BEING UNSAFE IN OUR 2006 SEQUOIA. APPARENTLY THIS RECALL HAS BEEN IN EFFECT SINCE JUNE 2015 SO I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT WE WEREN'T NOTIFIED UNTIL EARLY AUGUST. THE RECALL NOTICE RECOMMENDS THAT WE DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL TOYOTA HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, TOYOTA IS TAKING AN EXCESSIVELY LONG TIME TO PROVIDE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. IT IS NOW AUGUST 31 AND THERE IS STILL NO DEFINITIVE DATE SET FOR REPAIRING THE PROBLEM. FURTHER, TOYOTA IS PROVIDING ONLY UP TO $35/DAY REIMBURSEMENT FOR A LOANER VEHICLE -- WHICH COVERS ONLY A THIRD TO HALF OF WHAT IT COSTS TO RENT A VEHICLE OF COMPARABLE SIZE TO OUR SEQUOIA. THIS IS UNFAIR AND A BIG INCONVENIENCE TO OUR FAMILY. I UNDERSTAND THAT PARTS AVAILABILITY CAN TAKE TIME - BUT AT LEAST PROVIDE US WITH A COMPARABLE REPLACEMENT CAR AT NO CHARGE.

RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE INVOLVING PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SHRAPNEL UPON ACTIVATION. TOYOTA RECOMMEND NO ONE RIDE IN PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL REPAIRED. AFTER MAKING NUMEROUS CALLS ABOUT FOLLOWUP, NO SOLUTION WAS FORTHCOMING. NO TIMELINE WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR (THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY)!!! THAT WAS ALMOST 4 MO. AGO AND STILL NO INFO. FROM TOYOTA. I CALLED TOYOTA AGAIN TODAY (10/6/2015) AND THE STORY WAS THE SAME EXCEPT A TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE DID STATE THE AIR BAG COULD POSSIBLY ACTIVATE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT IMPACT. TOYOTA STATED IN THEIR RECALL THAT THE SHRAPNEL COULD CAUSE FATAL INJURIES TO OCCUPANTS!!!! I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS BEING DONE TO PROTECT THE CITIZENS WHO OWN THESE POTENTIAL DEATH TRAPS????? THIS HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR MONTHS BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE!!!! I DID READ THAT TOYOTA WAS OFFERING 35$ FOR RENTAL CAR SERVICES BUT NOTHING WAS SAID ABOUT THAT IN MY RECALL LETTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE, THE TRACTION OFF AND THE VSC TRACT WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE BRAKING WAS DELAYED. THE VEHICLE ALSO VEERED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR PUMP ASSEMBLY AND SWITCHING VALVES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
TOYOTA IS RECALLING PASSENGER AIRBAGS DUE TO FAULTY TAKATA AIRBAG IN WHICH METAL FRAGMENTS MAY DEPLOY WITH THE AIR BAG. OUR VEHICLE IS ONE OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES AND I RECEIVED NOTICE IN JUNE/JULY 2015 WITH A RECOMMENDATION NOT TO HAVE ANY PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. IT IS NOW OCT. AND NO REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS HAVE YET BEEN MADE AVAILABLE. THIS IS OUR PRIMARY VEHICLE AND MONTHS HAVE PASSED WITHOUT RESOLUTION OF THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY AND MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM IN A SHORTER AMOUNT OF TIME.
